Reviews of Chatfield State Park
Stephen Lawrence
My family and I had a great time at the park. The staff was very nice and helpful. We got a snack from the snack bar and the kids had a great time.
There are a few suggestions and a couple things to note. The bathrooms aren't always open. When we got there we noticed the men and women's bathroom were locked. This caused a line to form and a few small delays.
The view is beautiful (especially the mountains!) However, other than that it is a very simple park. There is limited shade and the trails were either overgrown or too short.
I think this is a nice stop to bring your kids and your family for a nice quick dip in the water. There are plenty of activities for the lakes for sure. This is a great place to cool off!
John Bundy
This park has a lot to offer!! Open spaces, swim beach, picnic areas, fishing and other water sports just to name a few. Also has paved walking paths that pretty much circle the whole reservoir. It's approximately 13 miles around. Also has access to other trails not associated with the park.
Monica Anthony
I camped here for the 1st time with my son's 6th grade class. Wow was I impressed! It was definitely "city camping" but the trails were great, paddle boarding was a blast and a must do! The park ranger was super friendly and very knowledgeable.
Dolce Vita!
Very beautiful state park. You are able to stay 2 weeks in a 28 day period. We stayed twice for two weeks each. Both sites were very nice. We enjoyed the nice bike trails around the entire reservoir. There are plenty of places around the park to picnic. There are several beaches. We saw deer regularly. We did hear howling at night. One night we suspect a mountain lion got on top of the camper, we heard it jump up there and walk around, and the next morning we found a bloody mess on the roof. We did not see any during the day and there were no actual problems with wildlife during our stays. I would just recommend being safe by keeping clean and food contained. All and all we had beautiful experiences here. The view of mountains in the background is amazing. There are plenty of places to shop and eat fairly close to the park.

Its a great place to be especially you own boats, jet boats.
State park which is almost in the city and everything near by....
Its a good place for picnics as they have both small and group shelters....which you can reserve.
Small beach area for kids to play in the water n sand....n separate area for paddling....and best thing is they have Camping n RV sites which you can book 6 months in advance....n good for beginners....
Love this place and going all the time during summer

Beautiful !!! The mountains and the lake were gorgeous!! The Host was so friendly too!
Loved Loved all the trails to walk and the Trailer parking was spaced out very well !! I didn't get to fish, but looked great!!
Many attractions nearby also.

All the years I've lived in Denver and Chatfield has been 10 minutes from my house.. I never knew how much fun the camping there would be. What I love about it is you get that camping feel but you're still so close to the city. Very clean campsites super friendly staff. Lots of trails to walk on lots of water to play in. Just a super fun time. Definitely be coming back.

This place is gorgeous to bring your horses trail riding! We were in awe because every where we turned was a picturesque backdrop! We saw big horn sheep, black squirrels, deer, and a rattlesnake on our adventure. The trail is pretty flat and easy for the horses. We rode 12 miles and could have gone further. There are areas of the creek you are able to access if your horse is thirsty. You will pass many cyclists so make sure your horses aren’t scared of bikes! Easy to trailer too! Easy trail to follow. It does not loop so it’s an up and back. Take a lot of water in your saddle bags. It can get hot.
Beware of rattlesnakes!!! We were close to accidentally stepping on one with our horses near the creek. See photo of the rattlesnake.

Really big state park, with lots of outdoor activities. We were in A-loop site 18. It has a slope from front to back, but provides some shade in the morning and early afternoon. The sites are very far apart. The campground is not especially pretty, with little shade and minimal views. Because of that, my main objection is the price. You can buy food at the small cafe at the Marina as well as rent a boat. There are also stables where you can rent a horse. They charge not only for the site, but $10 a day for your car for a total of $51.00. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.
thekreal
Great dog area where no leashes are required and good water to retrieve. Excellent for hot days when the dog is cooking. Usually pretty busy but there is plenty of room and lots of fun dogs to meet and play with.

Ample space for your RV and toys. Surprised by the number of people using the spaces this time of year. Close to Waterton Canyon/Roxborough Open Space for a nice hike and wildlife encounters! Great in the summer, also.
Amanda K
The park is beautiful with lots of trails. We go several times a month for the dog park that is there, it is one of the best dog parks around. My 2 huskies LOVE this place! There is a wooded area for the dogs to explore, a paved trail, and lots of water!
Clinton Wallace
Nice campground that is very well kept up. Low elevation campground with a very short walk to the lake and near the marina. Sites have 20/30/50 amp circuits. Potable water is available throughout campground with RV fill at dump station. Few mature tree at campsites. Stayed at site 118 right next to a great playground for kids, and poor if you are looking for serenity of nature. Lake is clean, nice, and scenic but overly busy with small/medium sized boats. 3 bar 5G Verizon cell service. Good campsite if you are looking to stay close to Denver and want to stay close to a lake. Comes with the trade off of being noisy and congested.
patrick conroy
The facilities are for the most part in really good shape. They keep it clean and staffed. They have coin operated laundry and showers, including handicap.
Jill Lathrum
Great bike and walking trails. Dog bark is huge with a small lake. We camped in loop B (full hook-ups) and a beautiful sunset view of lake and mountains. Very nice park.
Janina Yates
We have a family tradition of spending Father's Day camping at Chatfield and this year was no different. The model airplane field being right next to the campground is a real inconvenience (because they start flying early) but otherwise, we enjoy all the activities to do in the state park.
Gloria Kelly
Beautiful state park with a variety of outdoor activities: hiking, boating, fishing. Great campsites with beautiful views of the Front Range. Only negative was that none of the showers were functioning.
Joseph B
9/23/21 - This place is big. Must drive the whole place before making a stop. Relaxing place. Nice beach area, clean water, nice trails, lots of places to see and to do. Must call to do a horseback riding or tractor rides. This place is close to Chatfield Farms (Botanic Garden).
J.M. Serrano
Absolutely love this park. By far, this is one of the best parks in Colorado. It is huge and there is a massive lake for all your jet-ski and boat needs. I also willing saying it is pretty romantic for couple walks. Take some time for yourself to bring a book and mediate in middle of this huge park. There are great views and spots for picnics, fishing, and photo ops. Highly recommend.
Perfect for folks with dogs.
Jason Bonham
Chatfield is well maintained and a clean state park. Lots of activities from RC plane airfield, fpv drone course, boating, hiking trails and plenty of hidden fishing spots that never seem to be crowded on the busiest time of year. I am here pretty much everyday hiking, fishing or just trying to get an awesome picture of wildlife or a random hot air balloon.
Dawn E Pfluger
Beautiful view! The parking pad at the site is level. Very peaceful. I would definitely come back for the view.
Jeannie Malsam
Big and something for everyone! Spent the 4th of July at the Grave Pond. Super chill, calm water to paddle board or kayak. 5280 Paddle Sports rental is affordable and has really nice equipment - perfect place to try SUP for the first time!
I AM of LIFE
Great camping experience. I was worried since its a busy park but it nice and quiet and pretty view. Loved the full hook ups.
Curry Shear
Next best thing to a beach. State park $10 per car lots of lakes and water rentals bring your ice chest food chairs also camping available nice size area.
James V. Johnson II
It a good place for peaceful boating 🚢 during the week. Early morning 🌄 is the best time IMHO. …
Jim Doolittle
Nice State Park with many activities. Really like coming here for the water. The main attraction is the reservoir, which is used primarily by boaters, swimmers and paddle boarders. The fishing isn't bad either! There are also two smaller lakes south of the main reservoir. If you enter by bicycle you get in for free.
Matt Pina
Awesome place for biking, fishing, swimming, boating, jet skiing, grilling, camping you name it. Beautiful views mountains everywhere. Love bring my telescope out here or clients for photoshoots with the Botanical gardens down the street.
Denise Wagner
Chatfield is a great place for adventure close to home. I rode my bike all the way around the reservoir and finished with a swim at the swim beach... such a beautiful day! I have also used my paddleboard and saw beautiful herons and pelicans. Lots of fun little coves.
Felicia
Beautiful park in the city. Huge lake with great no-wake zones for kayakers and SUPers. Rentals available on site by third party companies. Views of the mountains. Tranquil.
Laura Crow
I love this park, and I'm so grateful that it's here. It's really nice and serene in the winter, with endless paths to wander around the lake and through the forest. When the weather is nice, it's so fun to ride your bike through the park, and you'll often spot wildlife from birds to deer. We're so lucky to have such a gem so close to the city!
Tammy McKenzie
Camp grounds are amazing , spacious, have great views and so much to see and do!
Fatimah Alsalahi
Very pretty state park! I have lots of good memories there!
Bob Kern
Great Full hookup sites close to everything. Nice lake, walking/biking trails , swimming, boating, etc. Good view of the Foothills.
Oso Trujillo
We spent the day at the swimming beach, other lakes nearby were closed to swimming because of algae, but Chatfield was open and algae free. It was $10.00 per car to enter. We were able to find decent parking, but there is still a 5 minute walk to the beach. The beach sand is very course, with small pebbles, and some small rocks. The swimming area has a lot of space to set up tents for families and friends to enjoys the day together. Guests are coming and going throughout the day, so if you don't get a prime spot right away there should be one opening up soon to right near the water.
crystal reynolds
This is a really beautiful park. We had a lot of space for our RV. We enjoyed riding our bikes on the trails. The bathrooms were clean and safe and also had laundry for a decent price as well. Safe clean and beautiful area and very nice people working at this park as well. I highly recommend it !
Tony Hayes
Very solid spot for paddleboarding or birdwatching (for me, both).
Its a beautiful lake. So much wildlife, and a great biking/walking trail that is paved
Pictured are some cool looking birds and a beaver that is dragging a stick for his den
Paul Bryan
I usually go to pic nic and I love the area. It's always clean and ready to be enjoyed. Beautiful trees and occasional deer. There are many birds and wildlife plus the activities near the water. Paddle boarding, fishing, skiing, or just floating around. Here you can find many things to do. Even camp.
Sarah
Pretty cool park! I appreciated the Garbage Garden they setup to show how long it takes for common goods turned litter to decompose.
Sydney Clark
Love the dog park! It’s a great place to let the dogs off leash and get all their energy out. The water is a nice feature as it lets the pups cool down on hot days. Our dogs always need a bath after but it is totally worth it!
Katie Wells
It is beautiful but their swim beach is super rocky. Definitely recommend water shoes. Wish the water was a bit more clear but not too shabby. We paddle boarded, waves from the boats being crazy can catch you off guard.
Cliff Smith
This is a beautiful little lake right outside of the big city. There are multiple beaches to play in the water and soak up the sun. This lake is smaller than your average IF you are visiting from out of town from a place that isn't as dry as Colorado. You can camp here in designated spots and there are beautiful views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range you can't get from within the city. Lots of bug spray or you'll have a 2-star experience once that sun begins to drop.
stella bellucci
my favorite state park right now. I try to get there early for sun rise yoga!
Molly Whitticker
A great lake. It's doesn't take long to get into the park and it's right off a major highway. I've been there a few times and it's never super crowded. Bathrooms are close to the beach which is always nice.
Ellie Green
Water is turquoise and clean for paddle boarding in the nearby smaller lakes. Saw a beaver swimming right next to me so the wildlife is healthy as well. Getting in and out of the lake is easy, especially with parks pass. Parking can be difficult on summer weekends.
Stephen Medlin
Fun and beatiful park. Nice bike paths.
Laura Sincere
Some of the smaller watering holes around the So Platte River are more secluded and quite. Not crowded and bust like the beaches if the main reservoir. We like to go a few minutes south of the main attraction to the Audubon wildlife refuge area. Much more private and peaceful. The south Platte river is perfect this time of year for tubing , wading, fishing of just splashing around
Kendra Colgate
Have always enjoyed coming here since I was a kid. A fair amount of trails to explore. Bike lanes and hiking paths are separate. Even when there are loads of people you can always find a spot to have a bit of beach to yourself. Great place to paddle paddleboard and fish! Campsites are always well maintained. All the staff have been good to my family this generation and the last.
Brian Watkins
Really pretty lake with open views of the mountains. Water is a bit colder than some other front range lakes but overall not too cold. Lots of sail boats and wind surfers. Wouldn’t recommend paddle boarding as wind can kick up fast.
rory smith
Paddle boarder now, good place to go in town. Wake is low from the boats, water feels good. Parking can be the only issue if you don't get there before 11-12
Glenn Cannon
Third time camping here. All sites are good. Central Water. Power. Great hiking and bike paths. Clean restroom with laundry. Close to Red Rocks amphitheater and the town of Morrison. October stay
Chris Feller
Very clean amenities and the lake/Beach was great for the kids
Christy Shapiro
One of my favorite places in Colorado. Great place to paddleboard because there are so many places to go where you won’t be bothered by the boats. The horseback riding is also great and the campsites are clean and quiet
Hanlu Doyle
Very pretty but so many bugs and mosquitoes 🦟 come warm weather! The lake in the dog park is kinda shallow and still so perfect for laying those eggs and growing larvae, I guess. Not a problem in the colder months though. …
Steve Cutler
For being so close to the suburbs of Denver I, was pleasantly surprised of how nice this campground and park was. It has been 20 years since I have been in the park. They have developed it well with all the trails and dog park.
Kou Vang
A great State Park not to far from where I lived. The trials are good for biking, walking, and running. One of my favorite place to go for a run all season round. The staff's are friendly and the recreations are awesome. Lots of people in the lake in the summer from canoe, kayak, boat, and paddleboard. Looking forward to summer time there again.
Winter are great for short walk in the park. Be aware of wildlife such as coyote. Saw one the other days from far away. Across 470 from Chatfield State Park is the South Platte River Park. Definitely check that out for short walk.
Albenita Lopez
This place is beautiful. Theirs so many different aspects to this park, you can explore one or all of the many trails, camp, fish and boat and even swim here.
Hannah Combs King
Beautiful lake! I enjoyed a day of shore fishing here with my husband. There wasn't a ton of bites, but he caught two fish (bass and sunfish) and we had a great time. Parking was close to the lake, the shore was clean and we made friends with the local wildlife! Admission was around 5 bucks and worth it!
M Maz
Very beautiful with many stops to explore
J H
We go here every weekend. You can pay 10.00 a day or buy a state parks pass. There’s a small marina, a swim beach, horse riding and a couple of water sport rental areas to get kayaks, paddle boards, and more. Restrooms are consistently clean and easily accessible throughout the park! Many day use areas to picnic and even grill. Its always a great day at Chatfield!
Victor Rachael
Short hike yesterday at Chatfield. Went out to turtle pond located in the southeast corner of the park. Not a lot of wildlife on the hike but did spot a red tail hawk, 1 coyote and a bunch of deer bedded down while driving around. Standard hiking boots were ok given the snow, yaktraxs would been nice but weren't 100% necessary. Lots of residential construction on the south side of the park and all but 1 camping loop was closed. Most roads were clear but the road to this trailhead was solid ice and snow covered most of the way.
Marci Reece
Great state park, clean, well maintained and spacious spots with full hookups. The only reason I didn't give five stars is its too close to town and I like to be more remote. That could be a positive for others 🙂 …
B T
This park has a great doggie park where you could let your dogs run loose and swim, be careful if you have a Golden Retriever and you let him run loose to swim with all the other golden retrievers, you might not recognize yours, good thing mine recognized me LOL it also has horse stables if you're looking to ride, and camping but unfortunately it's always really hard to get a reservation for camping. And don't forget the swimming beach.
LouEllen Opat
Just a short drive for the hustle and bustle of the city. You will find Chatfield state park. Let it be known you have to pay to get in to the actual park but just a short drive from the main entrance you will find a free part. There are hiking and biking trails, ponds for fishing, birds for watching and clean bathrooms for well you know. The river runs through this part of park with easy access. Your kids and dog will love running around here.
Talitha Eicher
A great place to walk your dogs are the opened dog park or to just go on a walk as a family. They have bathrooms that are clean. The fishing is not great but still peaceful. There are a lot of boats in the summer but go early so you can kayak and maybe you will get to see the Hot Air Balloons go off.
David Bulson
This is our first time here. It's kind of small but big enough for boats. I saw several people fishing and having picnics. The trees are still a little bare so not much shade. It will be much better when the leaves grow in. They have lots of parking and picnic tables with grills . It seems to be well maintained. There is a state park fee to get in, if you already have one you can go to the left lane and just drive on in. It looks like they are doing some thing bt the front gate, too early to tell. There is an overlook on the north side of the park. There is also a trail that seemed very popular today, not sure why but a lot of people were here.
Krista McKissack
My friend and I had a great time paddle boarding , the water was perfect! However, when we got back to her car her battery was dead. Kennady the ranger came to our rescue. She was awesome and we appreciated her so much! Thank you Kennady.!!! Thank you Chatfield for having rangers accessible after office hours. We will definitely be back!
Caleb Smith
Great park that is well maintained with lots of things to do. There are bike and walking trails everywhere that connect to trails outside the area and beautiful views throughout. There are places to camp, play on the water or just enjoy the outdoors. Very glad I found this area.
Bob Sendek
Great off leash dog park
Christopher Becher
Fantastic trails to hike or ride your horse. River and pond paths with views of the foothills. Make sure to catch a sunset view from the trail!
sam lafton
Omg!! First off had no idea about this place, came across looking for camping spot. Which there are none.
The site says it is some acreages.
You do have to enter the park and pay that fee. I think. Then it's$3.50 for dog park
We spent 13.50$ and our puppies LOVED IT
Everyone is friendly. Most or all of the doggies super well behaved
We walked , and walked
Puppies are all tired. All of us loved it
Cortney Buchholz
Fun place to spend the day or week with your family. Nice campground, hiking trails and wake free lake. Fun for every one.
Remarkable Review OBM / PM
This park was so amazing! So amazing that I wish we would have paid for the annual pass. This is a paid park experience. Not expensive though. Upon entering, you have the option to choose a per day($10), 6 month($40), or annual pass(80). You can use the passes at any 42(I think or 46) state parks in CO. Its important to note that if you have a dog and you'd like to use the off leash park, it's an additional $3 for the day pass. I'm not sure about the others. There is so much to do at this park. There are people biking, fishing, paddle boating, playing with their dogs, playing horseshoe, and so much more. Everyone is so active and friendly. I absolutely loved it there. I have so many good things to say about this park, but honestly, you should just stop by and see it for yourself. You wont regret it. 😁

I feel like I have a love hate relationship with this Local Colorado State Park. Being so close to Denver- it’s almost always fully crowded during the summer. If you’re a boater like me, the long lines, busy dock, and the limited area for cruising (most of the lake is wake free), it makes for a rough outing on any weekend. The weekdays and evenings are usually much more reasonable during the summer.
As far as the fishing- it seems to be ok if you aren’t battling rowdy ski boats and oversized yachts that don’t really belong there. You’ll mostly catch trout, smallmouth bass, and more rarely - a few smaller walleye. Apparently there’s some larger ones but I’ve yet to catch anything surpassing the 18” limit. It will also ice over and I’ve had some success here and there in the winter as well.
Overall- nice smaller lake, but will continue to get even more crowded with Sterling Ranch being developed. Definitely a shame!
Mike E
Chatfield is a great boating lake with ample ramps, motoring zone, and no wake zone for leisurely swimming and sunning. It is well suited for all types of watercraft. Get there early because rangers do a great job of maintaining reasonable numbers to avoid overcrowding.
Aly McGinley-Harrington
Our first visit to the Chatfield dog park. OH MY GOSH, THIS PLACE IS THE GOLDEN POT OF GOLD AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW. Absolutely gorgeous, huge, clean, easy to access. A little pricey but it's such a huge dog park you can't really get to the other side without wearing yourself out so it's worth the cost. The puppy's first trip ever to a dog park. Everybody was super respectful and fun to hang around with. Kept their doggies under control if they were a too large for playtime with her.
Hilal Mushtaque
Chatfield reservoir is really huge and amazing. It was very cold the day we went with family. The shore was quite and calm. You can bring your own boats and do boating. There is also option of paid boats also, although currently this option is closed until 2020 details mentioned on the state park website. They also have barbecue option, just need to bring stuff to bake and fire it (equipment not needed, unless you don’t want to use it). Overall it was very good experience, worth going specially with family and group.
Vanadey
Great time. Not as crowded as I thought
Robert Walker
A very nice state park. There is a big dog park area. Lots of space and trails. Large lake. Great view of the mountains. We visited in the winter. Plenty of snow in January. Lots of wildlife even in the snow. Looks like this could be a good campground in the warmer months.
Kody Johnson
Went ice fishing here. Ice was about 6 inches thick with a little slush on top. Caught a couple of rainbow trout just off the marina. It was a good day.
Nathaniel Swanson
Had a great time here! Didn't get as many pictures as I usually do, but let me tell you what: The skyline at sunrise and sunset was beautiful! Entrance fee was extremely reasonable (all of $8 dollars!), and our campground was within minutes of lots of places to hike, fish, or even take a nice jog! Looking forward to coming back again!
Danessa Gates
Love it here! Ice fishing, awesome dog park, plethora of things to do in the summer as well! Kayaking, etc.
Jessica Kreller
Great place to be outdoors! Everyone was friendly, and the campground was quiet and peaceful! Park rangers were very helpful in getting us on a trail that was out of the wind. Can't wait to come back!
gardenofthedogs (Felina)
Colorado Miami! This place has it all! A swimming beach, ice fishing, bald eagles, pelicans, herons, birds galore and the most fabulous sunset every night!
Justin Bubenik
Way too many activities, way too much space, way too close to home. These aren’t complaints, but just a few of the reasons this park is outstanding. Love that they have two dog training areas that are specifically reserved for working dog owners/trainers outside the public off-leash area. I’m typically forced to travel to SWAs, BLM or USFS land to work with my dog during the off-season (while avoiding the distraction of less well-behaved dogs in the general off-leash area), so this space is incredibly appreciated! The fishing is also typically awesome!
Deacon Matthew Brend
We have been enjoying Chatfield state park for over 20 years. We love to camp, in both tents and RVs, hike, jet ski, and bike there every summer. It is close to town, but still isolated enough to allow us to get some rest.
Bradley Garber
Nice park, well taken care of camping spots. They have a large number of spots and they are all relatively spaced out. They have full hook-up sites all the way to tent sites. Peaceful place to visit (when there isn't a model air show happening in the field behind the park).
GP MERCHANT
We ❤️ this campground. It was clean, service was efficient, effective, easily accessible , with lots to do. I highly recommend this park to all campers. 👍😀 …
SBBwasaight Vuong
Excellent park for biking, paddling, and camping. The rates are especially good for trailers/RVs and it's close enough to Denver that if you are vacationing out here with one it's the best place for you to stay. Not exactly the wildest place to camp though. If you're hoping for the crisp cool weather and the lush mountain terrain Colorado is known for you'll have to head further out. It is very much a prairie with some water plants and brush closest to the lake's edge. DO NOT SWIM BAREFOOT. There are rusty fish hooks and lures along the beach, I've got my ankle tangled up in fishing line before as well.
Harold McDowell
Winter camping in Colorado...NOTHING LIKE IT ...🤗...at campsite, Electric...yes...water...no.....
Dump, potable and non potable at one location...easy...clean... …
Renee Tang
So close to us. Feels like have the place to yourself as long as you stay away from bike path and dog park. Especially quite in this off season time.
Charles Gee
My urban escape. Beautiful lake and really nice camp spots. Reserve early.
Tiny-Mama's House
Great campground. Beautiful views. I just wish all the state campgrounds would get push button showers like St. Vrain has
Irene Bromley
A beautiful way to spend a Saturday. Clean bathrooms, great rental shop for kayaks and paddle boards, and a peaceful, safe, and clean environment. Great for the entire family, even the pups!
Jesse Jacoby
Gorgeous park structured around a large reservoir that you can boat on. Bike path that circles the entire reservoir and is paved 95% of the way (the rest is gravel). There are many offshoots to explore along the bike path if you so desire. There are numerous RV and tent camping sites on the backside of the lake. Note, during busy season you may experience a 5-15 minute line to get into the main entrance. Also, there is a daily fee to use the park ($10 as of this review); however there is a back entrance into the park that is free if you are coming from the south side.
Yuriy Gula
Beautiful park, recommended walking around the lake. Had our hot air balloon take off from here. We enjoyed flying over this park and seeing the beautiful scenery, also there's lots of wildlife around. Saw a herd of deer with very big antlers. This park also has a boat launch for people who would like to go on the lake.
Tyler Gallup
We're happy to be living so close to this amazing park. I grew up here, and the park itself grew up as well. The changes that have been added have been geared toward catering to multiple lifestyles and it is tranquil in how they did it. One of the best parts is the largest dog park on this side of the State that the pups can enjoy off leash, and swim without any disruption. Buying the parks pass is worth it for anyone who lives in the vicinity.
Donald Matejowsky
Camping sites are fairly level and several offer great lake views. All sites are clean and well kept by park staff. I would definitely stay here again.
Cortney Palm
Love the wake-zone-free mini lake! Nice Beach area. Kayak and sup rentals. Love the water. And no fishing line!!! Decent parking. Usually has swimmers swimming the length of the lake at some point towards early evening hours. Only bad thing is if someone is loud, laughing, talking, etc. You can hear them. Not a place for privacy.
GameTime101
It was calm, little chilly at night but that's what you get camping at chatfield in September. Great fishing and easy in and out the water.
Sarah Sadie Beals
One of our pup's favorite places. She LOVES the off leash dog park. The area is peaceful and less crowded than some other state parks/dog parks, plus it's not too far away. Walking loop is pleasant and a nice distance.
Vanessa Riley
We go here all the time and love it! What's not to love about a clean beautiful park/ beach in the city?! I wish they would monitor the taking out and unloading areas and when it's busy make people load the boats on one side and unload on another to make things flow better. But otherwise great!
Michelle Horning
Always parking and close to the highways so easy access. Plenty of bathrooms and very clean park. Staff at the gate is very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have.
Jon Peterson
Beautiful scenery and the camping spots first class.
Kasun Meegahapola
It’s a very good place to have fun in the Chatfield Lake. Love to spend time at the swim beach. I went there 2 weeks back and there is quite a lot of renovations going on. South Platte River also a good place to spend time. But wish there is proper signs to show how to go to the river. The trail near the river does not take you to the river. You would have to try few paths off the trail to find a good spot by the river. I’m not sure that I should get a free map of the park while getting the pass, but I regret not asking for one at the gates because it was not easy to find the way. For example for the first time going I had to spend some time to find the swim beach as I could not see signs for the swim beach.
Reid (武思昀)
The water is pretty clean for a Colorado resevoir, the park is well managed and closes once capacity is reached. I cycle through the park quite often and never have any problems. Highly recommend spending a day here.
Jason Overton
Great large open space with beach and water. Off leash dog park is our favorite.
Janette Palenius
Our camp site camper pad was level!!! We had electric only site close to shower/bathroom/laundry but it was so quiet. Everything very clean. Saw a mamma deer and 2 babies on our dusk walk-about the campground.
Michael Schuman
Had a nice little bike ride. Pretty flat. Some of the trails were flooded early in the season. Multi use trails so look out for for families with kids and for horses. Fun spot to jump in the river on a hot day.
Saralyn Voltz
Went to the no-wake lake area on Friday. It's always a little hard to get into Chatfield, but most especially on weekends! Friday wasn't as bad. Great place to paddle for the day!
Breanna Castrodale
Went camping and boating here for the 4th of July weekend. We had a blast! The day passes are very reasonable, the park is clean, rangers are super friendly and helpful. I was really scared of it being over crowded or trashed but I was very pleasantly surprised. I look forward to our next trip!
Emily Gayle
We camped for a few nights here. Beautiful views, quiet campground. We did wish there were more bathrooms, they had a lot of places that one would think were bathrooms but turned out to be locked bath houses.
Lucie Barr
We went to the lake/swim area. It is right up front upon entry. Not super crowded even on the warm weekend we went. Very gravelly so you will definitely want to bring blanket or chairs to sit on.
William Kelly
Nice park for water activities mostly, wish there was more shade. This park can be brutal in the summer for a bike ride or a casual hike. Overall it's clean, big and welcoming. Beaches and lakes 10/10. Hiking and biking 5/10.
Experiance ForEver
The park is big and has several beautiful ⛱️. Although the official beach is just one.
Nice threes and environment.
The only really annoying and disturbing thing is that the boat's are constantly spinning or speeding. All day long you have to listen the boat motors. The constant boat ⛵ spinning and spreading make the shore muddy because the constant water 🌊 move...
I didn't like that.
But it's still beautiful.
Yes there are restroom near the central parking lot and a snack bar.
Mariza 3099
Amazing state park, the area was well kept. We went there for a “beach day” with 4 toddlers. They enjoyed playing in the sand and we also went paddle boarding. We’ll definitely be going back to explore more of the state park.
Alexander Morse
The park closes at 10pm however night fishing is allowed provided you arrive before 10 :)
Stacey Schnackenberg
Great camping experience, clean bathrooms. Easy check in-just go to your site if you have a reservation. Surprised at how busy it was during the week, but the camping spots are spaced apart very nicely.
Nebojsa G.
We just loved it, kids especially. It’s well maintained, enough space for many people, mostly quiet and peaceful place and also many activities are available at this location, fishing, hiking, horse riding, bike riding, swimming, boat access,….etc
Victor B.
Great for a day of boating but it gets pretty busy on the weekends. Nicely recently reconstructed beech and picnic areas.
Todd Lawson
Wonderful dog park.
Tina Falcone
Amazing State Park. Huge, beautiful and just awesome. Great off leash area for your dogs
Beaches, sup & kayak rentals, boat rentals, picknick areas. Great campground, stayed in loop A.
Note: Shame on everyone who doesn't pick up their trash after themselves. Shame on you!
Inquisitively Curious
I live about 5 miles from Chatfield State Park on consider it part of my backyard. The folks that manage the park, and the park rangers are courteous and professional, and always willing to help you. How can you not love it here? Doug thanks for helping me with the campsite today. Double thumbs-up and a solid 5 star rating!
Mark Squire
I visit to paddleboard and hike. For paddleboarding I like the "gravel ponds" on the southwest side of the park.
It's a large park with very little shade and not many places to get drinking water so come prepared. Extremely busy on summer weekends; often you will have to wait for a parking spot.
A State parks pass will let you skip the line to buy a daily pass and usually you'll be able to take the left lane straight in.
Chatfield gets a 5th star from me for being close to home.
Austin Kush
Love this place! It's super busy during the summer but it's still beautiful! Awesome Marina, great swim beach, okay fishing but all around great way to spend a weekend
Traveling Skeltons
Great park with nice walking trail. The campground is well spaced, larger sites, just know D loop is below an authorized model airplane flying zone which can get noisy at times.
Gay Dowding
So nice there. We went sailing..
Rachel Ann Wells
Went camping with some friends here for the first time. I came when it was dark and it wasn’t hard to find and checking was easy. Too much fun. Neighbors nearby were chill too because we can get loud and rowdy sometimes 😂 …
Leah Fabrizio
The boat dock/restaurant has the most friendliest people. I'm not much of a cheeseburger person but was starving and ordered one. It was one of the best cheeseburgers I have eaten besides me cooking it, the fries were soooo crispy and good(I dod order Xtra crispy) and they didn't mind one bit!
Zoe Dean-Smith
There’s so much gorgeous open space, plenty of dog walking trails, great bird life and each season is so different
Ashlee
Such a lovely place! It was an absolute blast having our dog be free to run and swim in an open space. Completely comfortable, especially knowing there's a fence around 69ish acres! Loved it and will be back again.
Scott Carney
Great State Park for Boating and Water sports. Clean Campgrounds. Yummy Breakfast Burritos at the Marina. Tons of Picnic areas and Beaches. Wildlife if your looking. Even Hor Air Balloons frequently float over the Park.
Sarah Burke
We had a blast playing with our family this past weekend!
Helen Louise
Wonderful park
If you want camp 1 year waiting lis
Jessica Liddle
Huge park with 2 ponds and lots of space for the dogs to run around. Plenty of shady spots for hot days. I highly recommend getting the year pass if you plan on frequenting the park.
Korrine Rudderow
Beautiful state park. Right near stores and in town. Huge well maintained dog park close by. Gorgeous sunsets! Showers cost $ so bring change.
Javier Flores
Nice chill place great for water football
Rhonnie C.
Great place to go to stay if looking for a stay at home vacation. I love going at night because I am allergic to bees and also I love hearing the bugling of the elk and talking to the owls.
Thomas Chase
My son's dogs came out it was awesome dogs running around chasing each other my son has a saint bannard omgsh he enjoyed it Barry. Laying in the pond. Very nice place
Ryan Hoffman
Great park with many different areas to enjoy. Been all different times of the year and it's always pleasant. Went there in the winter and saw a bunch of people ice fishing on the lakes.
Amanda M
We stayed at Chatfield in the camping area. We were testing out our new pop up camper. It was the perfect place to do that. Drive through spots with full hook ups plus bathrooms at every loop section. Walking paths around the lake as well. Lots of construction so bridge was closed that was inconvenient but wasn't terrible. You do have to pay for camping spot plus park admission. I think when you pay for camping spot park admission should be included. But the over all experience was great!
Joseph Egly (joe)
Its super small if you are trying to put a boat or skis on the lake. You definitely dont have enough room for anything really. If you just go to hang out on the beach with friends and drinks it is great!!
Andrew M
Lots of opportunity for an escape from the city without a long drive. Plenty of paved trails for walking, running, or cycling with some dirt/gravel trails for hiking and gravel/mountain biking. Very scenic area with a mix of marshes and grasslands to the lake and beaches. Plenty of camping and RV or even just picnic spots here as well. I spent a full day here and only explored half of the shore! I will definitely be back.
Andi
Absolutely stunning always! I typically go for the off leash park for my husky, but even just going to sight see is definitely worth the trip. If you can go see the Overlook I highly recommend it as it is a very beautiful view!
Nathan “The Homie” Elijah Franco
The park is reasonably large and pretty, but as to be expected, it gets pretty packed on the swim beach after 12pm
kent wiens
I go to Chatfield Reservoir to fish and it's pretty good when it's not too crowded. There are too many boats on it when it's crowded and it keeps the water churned up and it's dangerous
Steve Roederer
Loved Staying there but had to leave since they were going to be full from reservations. Someday I'll be back again from Florida where I live and .ake sure I get reservations
Douglas Hohulin
Did not spend a lot of time there but seems like a good place to explore. Saw a couple of Bald Eagles but did not get a good picture then this little bird landed in front of me and stayed just long enough for a pic.
J D
Fun lake with lots of recreation options. Swimming and boating in the main lake. Paddleboatd and kayak at the gravel ponds. Road biking all around and Waterton Caynon/Colorado Trail MTB.
Berta Largent
Love taking my dog here! It is a little pricey $10 for the park plus $3 for the dog park itself. Season passes are the way to go if you plan to go often!
Ken Holloway
The construction makes it a little bit awkward but they did a great job of making it obviously organized so it doesn't feel like a construction zone. It feels like a pretty place getting an improvement. Fabulously outdoors yet tamed. A+ even with the construction.
edwelty
Beautiful and great camping places. Only down was to the restrooms that are working late in the season.
Moriah Cassidy
The campground was very clean and easy to pull the trailer into. I wasn’t aware before arriving there are a couple playgrounds, horseshoe area and other activities. Great trails to ride bikes and walk and fish. Fairly close to the water we could see it from our camper. The sites were not too close so you didn’t feel crammed with the site next to you. Other than the high winds we had a great weekend will definitely be back when we can hopefully enjoy more of the outdoor aspect of it
Kegan Lung
Great place to take the boat out in the family. Plenty of room on the lake. Seems like all the boats have a natural flow of traffic counterclockwise around the lake for Towing a tube. We started off going the other direction and quickly could see that we are upsetting other boaters.
CO -Alexis Enger
This was our family’s place to boat every summer but unfortunately when Covid hit everyone fished all the fish out of the lake so we don’t go here anymore. Hopefully they fix this issue
William Mayes
#ColoradoRiverSchool great day and thank you Lyle & (Future Super Dude) London. These gentlemen were truly Colorado. Knowledgeable, laid back, tuned in and helpful. It's good to know that YOU can experience good people, good learning and all out on the water (can't beat that) equating to great day.
Harrison Harnisch
$10 a day (or part of the $80 state yearly pass)
Great place to walk around and explore. Bring a mask for walking on the trail.
Ina Gustafsen
Jack and I love to go to the Chatfield state park dog park. It's perfect to get the zombies out. A beautiful place to play
Darin Partterson
Awesome state park with lovely campground. Wildlife and trails galore! Even can see hit air balloon launches!
Chuck Flynn
Great place to bring ur dog they get to run free and play and swim. My dog had alot of fun😊😊😊😊😊 …
Joseph Gajewski
Quick and easy escape to nature! Awesome bike paths and plenty of fishing opportunities. Fall is magical
Nina
This was a great place to bike. I felt safe as I was on a bike path for most of my ride. After, we went to the swim beach but it had "no swimming" signs. Little confusing being my first time there.
Daryl Wilson
My wife and I really enjoy Chatfield State Park. This last visit, we got the chance to explore further around the perimeter of the reservoir and we found a very nice area (the paddleboard area, south end of the park) to set up our folding chairs and umbrellas. We go to the park to simply relax under the shade of a small tree while people watching (one of our favorite pasttimes) and, at this new area of the park, also enjoying relative peace from the screaming and splashing of children, as well as from the waves, noise and pollution from motorboats.
Remey Rose
So clean and pretty. There were cactus in the field!!! That was a fun surprise. But someone had sprinkled bird food around so there were lots of little morning finches. The rangers were awesome!! Had an impressive swearing in ceremony to make my kids office junior rangers. It was a blast! Oh and hot air balloons, even though the big event was cancelled
Mary Kraft
Chatfield State Park is one of the prettiest state parks I have stayed in. The campgrounds are laid out nice. There are pay showers and washer and driers. After hours check in was easy to do.
We were facing the lake and the sunsets were spectacular. The
campground and the whole park was quiet and clean. Lots of things to keep busy with here in the park. We didn't have enough time to go explore b all the activities. Hopefully next time we can stay longer.
jose arancibia
I loved this place! very close to the city but when you are there you are surrounded by nature. everything is very clean, good atmosphere and the park rangers are always concerned that everything works as it should. I will definitely come back.
Brian Boerjan
Beautiful Colorado State Park with a nice lake. Conveniently located close to Denver. Good rv rates.
Ronnilee Aragon
It was the bestest option we chose and did end up going..water and people are kind around and their was alot of boating and drafting.
Amy Coleman
We've gone to Chatfield Res the last few weekends. It is not as busy as it was during the summer, so that is nice. It is pleasant at the swim beach to watch people in the water, and listen to the motor boats cruise by. It is great at the Gravel Pond, but there are a TON of SUPers out there, and it can get crowded.
Robert Kinkaid
As a native that grew up boating and wakeboarding Chatfield. It has become a really packed lake. First off they cutoff half the lake for a no wake area for anchoring, paddle boarding, etc. This used to make Chatfield a larger lake for boats. There are not very many lakes in Colorado that allow ski/wakeboard boats. So to have one cutting half of the lake to accommodate the water activities that a lot more lakes allow is a tough pill to swallow.
Other then that the staff is always wonderful, their ramps are good and the lake overall is very enjoyable. Just makes it tough to wakeboard or surf on the lake.
Tamara Perine
Went paddle boarding it was busy but it was a beautiful day and everyone was having a great time.
Nic Dolph
Great place to take the family fishing & boating!
Michelle Brown
Wonderful place to camp. Beautiful views, friendly people and far enough away but close to everything
Kelly Pearce
Great calm area of Chatfield park, separate from the larger Chatfield lake. Perfect for paddle boarding, swimming or just hanging in the water. Little to no shade, so bring cover to escape from the sun!
Delila R
Great place to camp, lots of things to do.Very clean and peaceful.
Dr Randall Heskett
How can anybody not like Chatfield State Park. The Reservoir is amazing. The hiking trails around there are beautiful. The wildlife are invigorating.
Tom Germiat
Great trails, beautiful views, andreally fine campsite amenities for a state park.
Rebecca Hulse
For the yearly fee, I paddleboard and skate around this park all the time.
This state park offers camping, a swim beach, a lake large enough for boats with engines, a smaller, more peaceful, lake, horseback riding, hot air ballooning, a dog park and more.
As a kid, I always loved coming to the swim beach. There is a snack bar, room for your gear, gritty sand to make into castles and plenty of water!
As an adult, I love paddling at the gravel pond. I see wildlife and feel like I'm getting away. In fact, you can rent a paddleoard at either lake. That's how I discovered my new paddleboard hobby!
No one really uses the walking path around the lake and I enjoy that. I used to skate at Clement Park (which of course is also lovely). But I found it super crowded. At Chatfield, I'm never having to pass anyone. I can stop and listen to the wildlife. There are still people around so I don't feel unsafe.
Kenneth Levine
Endless trails to explore. Beautiful river and lake
Jeff Chagnard
Great park for hiking around, water sports, etc. Nice enclosed dog park inside the park for furry friends. Great views of the mountains to the West.
Hardik Thakkar
We went camping with our friends and the campsite was very nice and we had a bathroom nearby. They have a very nice reservoir too.
Charissa P
Paddle boarding and dogs. If it’s not to windy, this is my usual go to lake to paddle board.
crystal rambo
We originally planned to stay one night and ended up staying two. We stayed in loop C and the campground hosts were very helpful and the bathrooms were all very clean. We enjoyed our site and will definitely be back again. I really hope that we get the same hosts next time! I recently read another review about the campground hosts at this loop and all I could think was that they must have been very bad guests, lol. My husband and I camped with our 4 kids and the ladies were nice to us, our kids and our dog! They were meant to do this!
Michelle B. Lind
I don't go to Chatfield often enough. There's so much to do: bike, hike, ride horses, water sports, picnic. The rangers are helpful and kind as well
Kila Kelly
Had a great time here at a campsite. Gate tenants are always helpful. We had a good time at the rental place for paddleboards as well.
Blair Umphrey
Great family fun or just kick it with the Amigos
MILEHIGH
Great place to fish, boat, swim, BBQ, paddle board and camp. Tons of other outdoor activities. Nice place with great updates to the state park. I recommend checking it out.
Lacey Korn
Amazing Park located not to far from the inner city or the outer suburbs. Great place for a picnic, fishing, a little hike, or just to get away from the city life for a day! Family friendly for the kiddos or the grandparents. We unfortunately got rained out but will be back for an amazing experience again in God's natural beauty.
Destinee Weiding
Had a great time paddle boarding, clean area - not crowded!
Shaun Martin
Place is awesome but always crowded. If you're Kipling to party with family I recommend boating on weekdays.
TheDarkelder420
Fun place to swim, but the water has risen, and most of the little beaches have been drowned.
Danny Clayburg
Great park for families with kids and/or dogs.
Char Scena
We camp at the end of September every year nice way to end the summer season, nice camp sites with full hookups.
Travis Day
Always easy to get on and off water great sunset paddles
Adelita Campbell
Love the beach area, can paddle board, kayak.
Seth Allen
Summers here, people are out and about, fosh are biting, and Colorado is amazing. This park cant be beaten for all it offers and its proximity to the metro area.
I mean... its terrible. If you're reading this and thinking of moving here... don't. The water is full of murder-trout. Seriously 😉
Carefree Spas
Great wildlife viewing and paddleboard rentals. Even has off leash dog park by water.
Josh Ryner
It’s nice, lots of boats and the strand is pretty deep and wide.
Jocelynn York
Its clean(except toilets), and fun to hang, but the paddle boarders dont really care about others and tend to overrun your area if you're trying to fish.
PEACE PARDI
Brand new marina at this lake, camping, dog park. This place is great and the marina staff is amazing!!!
Avis S. Domingue
We went on a hot air Balloon with our family, so beautiful, safe. On our bucket list. Ken, operator, he and crew do fantastic job, experienced 31 years!👍Love was in the air❣ …
LaDo Prime
Fantastic destination with numerous activities. Enjoy the sights and pack out what you may take on your journey.
Jay Parker
Beautiful place to take a morning stroll. You’ll see some wildlife, boaters, and have the place to yourself for the most part. Took my longboard for a nice long ride along one of the many paved paths
Brigitte Reid
Fun place for biking, hiking, paddle boarding , kayaking and more. Buy a pass if you will be visiting it more than 10 times a year.
Chas Baxter
Kids had fun in the water. Biggest complaint I heard from everyone there that day is that there are no shaded areas like trees or awnings. Ground was extremely hard under the sand, making it difficult to pound stakes in for canopies or volleyball. They have a few tables clustered together by the bathroom under an awning, not sure if it's first come first serve or if you can reserve them. Bathrooms are decent.
Woollff
How can you not like the park?? Highly recommend the dog park but bring towels and a old blanket and please wash your dog when you leave!! LoL. We always have a blast, people are great and the animals are even better!!
Dayna Miller
Nice park. BUT bring yr own portapotty. Where are the tax dollars going ? You can't even plan on going there for more than a few hours because the bathrooms are a biohazard. They don't clean or empty them. Human waste was so full in toilets and so filthy. I held my breath and ran out.
Jack Fink
Nice area close to town. Swim beach, marina available. Good place for swimming, boating and fishing. Close to the suburbs, access from C-470 and South Wadsworth. One day pass $10
Stevie D
The off leash dog park here is great with trails and lakes for our dogs to explore
Candace Alexander
Had family reunion. The pavilion was very large and it had 2 grills. I loved walking around and meeting people who were just vacationing.
Monica Israels
In town, but not! Lots of construction noise (the bridge will be out for a while, too) but it's still a lovely park.
Michelle Sutten
Always an amazing place to fish and enjoy a sunny day.
Christi Rodriguez
Great spot to paddleboard with gorgeous views .
Bill Henry
What a nice state park. Just be aware, we were warned by a ranger to protect your bikes as there is a bike theft ring operating at night in the park. So sad this is happening.
Ellie Pinnock
Nice, large beach for the family to enjoy. Only downsides are the rough rocks to walk on and the many boats right by the shore that sit and run their exhaust unreasonably.
Danny Werner
I heard of an off leash dog park at Chatfield State Park and was very impressed. Good walking paths and enough room for the dogs to have a good time. Access to the park does require a paid day pass or annual park pass.
Justin Morgan
Not very busy in the winter time which means you basically have the whole park to yourself. Amazing views without having to drive into the hills.
Patrick Poquette
This place is more of a water park to do water sports. Open and not many old growth trees. Very little wildlife, a little nature, and not too many hiking places. All the campsites are open and exposed. More like glamping with all the RV's.
Marianna Martinez
Best to set up early in the morning, always clean, rangers and security take care of the park and are very friendly. My favorite local lake
Jack Kesterman
Went kayaking for the first time!
Casey Medack
Awesome dog park and I'm a regular here. It's hard to get into when busy day so if you want to celebrate 4th of July or memorial Day you better get there early
Susie Angel
Great blue gill fishing. Just a fun place to relax and enjoy outdoor activities
Bella Rae
I think it is a beautiful place to take my kids and try to relax, some parts of the water and sand were dirtier then others but it was a great day.
Greg Zecca
Great place to go. Accommodates every outdoor activity. Grounds are kept very clean and maintained. Gets crowded on the weekends during the summer months, especially the boat ramp. All and all, well worth the visit.
Cathy Butler
During the week it is not crowded at all, boating is great, the water is beauriful.
John Palaka
Nice park south of C-470, with lake. Good for biking, hiking, running, camping w/hot showers. Also did a few orienteering meets here.
Ashley Crane
Took our kayaks out to the lake! Highly recommend wearing a bright color if you’re in something other than a boat, just to make sure people can see you! This lake is huge and there’s so much to do in the area! Camping, fishing, boating, ‘beach’
CJ
Always busy, so get here as early as you can. If you want to SUP, go to the rock quarry lakes by heading south or right as you enter. Get here early as well, as there is minimal parking. Fun place to paddle board, let your dog swim, kayak and just have a good picnic. Lots of dusk and dirt if the wind starts to blow, anchor down your stuff well.
Rocky Nitro 1
Clean, calm, fun and very family friendly. We will be back!!
Tim Golen
The huge no-wake zone was great. There was also quite a bit of shade that we found. The water was nice and the park was clean.
michael trujillo
What a great state park! Lots of thing to do for everyone! There's a dog park. Swim beach. Nature trails. Bike trails. Horse trails and training areas. Good fishing! Besides the main lake there's several small ponds and river access. Also ice fishing. Lots of wildlife. Including occasional herds of elk and deer. Eagles and other varieties of birds. There's boating, water skiing. And picnic area's. As of 2022 its$10 to enter. Extra $3 for dog park. Re-entry not guaranteed when park is full. It can get crowded in the summer.
Clark S
The Corps of Engineers is doing some construction which is currently impacting what you can do there. But we had a great time. And it is close to the Chatfiekd Botanic Gardens which is an amazing place to visit.
Austin Revels
I have lots of fun boating there, relaxing on the water.🛥🦺 …
Erick
Love this place. It's normally pretty clean and the water is fine!
Spent several evenings here with family, lot of good times and lots of bass. I highly recommend it. Staff is always nice.
Dustin J. Hardin
Great swimming but tough to catch fish by shore. A lot of weeds... Still had a blast!
Sarah
You may need to actively avoid a stray bandaid, diaper, or discarded beer bottle--but it is a convenient place to dip your toes when the heat becomes oppressive.
Melissa Gazaway
Super nice state park. Lots to do and see.
Laura McDowell
SO beautiful, plenty of space, with something for every outdoor enthusiast.
Lexi Aagesen
The Gravel Ponds are a great place to SUP as no motorized craft is allowed.
Sripriya Kandadai
Boating, horse riding, paddle boats and lots more at this wonderful place. Something for everyone.. Love this place
If you don't like it turn it off. Monasmith
Good park, easy access, but be aware, you pay a entrance fee of $10.00, for each day you stay, it doesn't matter if you have a reservation, $10.00 each day you stay.
If that doesn't matter, a good park.
McKenzie “Kenz the Pirate” Clarke
Great place to bring the family at the swim beaches, or use the gravel ponds to putts around in a non-motorized ride. Here about every week for work!
Keith Logan
Went with the family and had a great time. The water is a little cold and muddy but still had a blast.
Kimberly cown
Went ice fishing for the first time. Bathrooms were really far away .....
Tom
We camped out at Chatfield many times over the last 4 months.. Perfect Park to get full hookup to your Class A Motor Home. The lake is big and beautiful. Nice Marina if you have a boat.
Good paddle boarding in the gravel pond on the South end..Horseback rides too.
Joe Piper
Large park with lots to do. Great place to learn paddle boarding.
Heffe Montana
I think this is an incredible resource. The bike paths around the Park are tremendous and lengthy. For being in town this has a real nice sense of openness. Even though it was a holiday weekend we had a great time with all the crowds because the space is so big.
Eduardo Franco
It’s a nice place to spend a fun and relax time. Our 4th of July was really good.
Kevin Culver
Beautiful park! Close to the city, yet so far away. Full of wildlife.. birds, deer, beavers, fish.. Great place to Paddleboard or Kayak. Lots of amenities here!!! Dog park, RV station, camping...
Levi Woods
Great recreation place minutes from Denver. The self pay system was easy and convenient. The facilities are a little older on some campgrounds but the parking and RV sites are well kept. Great fishing spots and lots of separate paddle board ponds are secluded from power sport activities.
Laura Harvey
Great location. Super quiet & relaxing environment for all ages!
Cass Hansen
The new docks with a bigger parking lot. More picnic areas with shade. New Vaults kept clean. A lot to do. Absolutely Beautiful Park!
Jenni Hackworth
Absolutely gorgeous lake! Loved spending time sailing around the lake!
B Adams
RC/Drone flying area and runway, boating, and more, but the best part for me, is the covered picnic tables with a view of the land. Peace from the hustle and bustle of the nearby C470 and far enough from work that I can get a breather and relax during a lunch break.
Catherine M
Clean campground, helpful staff, love the full hookups. Nice trails, good fishing & great boating!
Luke Martin
Greater Denver's best of the best for those with motorboats, a lot of fun, a good feel
Tommy
Great park, lots of trails to walk/run/bike. Not a ton of shade overall, so can get a bit warm when the summer afternoon sun is in full swing. Nice and large dog park. Boating and kayaking around the lake, tho we didn't have time to check it out, just observed from afar.
Rachael Babiracki
Went on a Saturday in July so it was busy and a bit of a challenge to find parking. We went to the beach that is only paddle boarding and kayaking and even with it being crowded, there was plenty of room on the water. I rented a paddle board from 5280 and it was quick and easy. Enjoyed the 2 hours and would come back - can't beat the convenience!
Marty Larson
Really nice Colorado state park. Good biking/walking trails. Well maintained. Nice reservoir. Smaller pond for non-motorized watercraft. Big dog park with pond. It is in the city so if you are looking for a mountain experience this isn't for you.
C Darlene Link
Get here early for a good spot. There's no shade so bring a tent, and no clean water so bring your own. It's very peaceful and clean. There are restrooms. It's a safe place for kids to swim in the shallow parts of the shore. I do recommend swim shoes. We paddle boarded and there are canoes out there. Totally recommend a day trip.
Christian Slocomb
It was a good time with the same time with you guys👫👬👭 are going through the day of school. …
Mike Fitzpatrick
Excellent walking/cycling trails/paths. Excellent lakes and wildlife. Watch out for the gnats!
Brian Cline
First visit: rented a pontoon both for 1/2 day. Smooth process and very helpful, friendly staff. Tried fishing neat shore using a lure but never even got a nibble. Overall though a very fun day. Will definitely come back!
Stephanie Walton
Beautiful scenery! Water was great for swimming but be prepared to walk.
Ron Smith
I would like to make a suggestion, to avoid the boat exiting congestion, that the State should build a small person peer midway between the two boat ramps as a drop off for the trailer retrievers, then those boats could return the waiting area away from the boat ramps and wait their turn and not tie up the ramps. Build a staircase from the dock to the parking lots.
Sarah Mccarthy
Love the trails here. It is great for moderately trafficked, flat, hikes or walks. The seasons can be seen clearly here in the trees and the cooler temperatures from the lake. I have not yet been on the water but by the looks of it, it is one of the most common things to do when you visit. I do have to say that their dog park is huge and the dogs there are not very controlled so I stick to leashed walks on the trails.
Richard Ellis
Good sized lake with good fishing. Biggest drawback is that it does get fairly windy
Fred Perello
Other than the fact that this is a small reservoir, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and it's beautiful against the foothills. There was archery, bike riding, dog park, model airplane park in addition to camping and boating. What a gorgeous fall day. Cheers
Grassello Joseph
Beautiful day on the water with my love.
Eme Wingert
Nice facilities but not the best for events. We didn't have trash cans of any type. There was no true description online of anything and same with once we arrived. I rented a large picnic area under the impression it was next to the water when it truly wasn't. Nothing looked maintained. The horseshoe game field was over grown with weeds and grass so we couldn't do anything with it. Though I will say the area was very shaded but very out of the way.
Husker Bluejay
It gets VERY windy here. Mix that with heavy boat/jet-ski traffic and shore fishing can get frustrating during the day. Later in the evenings it dies down and this time of year bigger bass and walleye can be caught from shore after sundown.
Andy Montgomery
Beautiful urban reservoir and state park. There is a fee to get in here. I have RV camping, a lake, a model air field, and bike trails among other things. Highly recommended if you're in the Denver area but avoid the weekends because it can get crowded especially on the lake with boaters.
Josh Rosema
Beautiful views, nice biking/walking/running paths throughout. The campsites are really nice as well.
Jules Crego
What a wonderful place. You can swim and boat in the water. The camping facilities are well worth the cost.
Mark Jetson
Very open I've seen wildlife and it is in the foothills almost surrounded by mountains. if you're there early enough you can see the hot air balloons the airplanes are really cool they have beautiful horses there fishing sucks but it's fun we also have like three or four small lakes there that most people don't know about. I guess they're more like p o n d s but they're pretty big. They have a a big parking lot on top of the d a m it is a really cool sunset Lookout Point
Mick Shea
It's always been way too crowded for me, but visiting on a Tuesday morning was great: no crowd at all! In mid-August the water level is low, but the beach sand still reaches into the water. Lots of biking opportunities, and most of the campground sites have some shade.
Karen Wieprzkowski
Great place to fish and watch the hot air balloon ride early in the morning
Roy Dale Norman
What a great Colorado State Park overlooking the reservoir, all the sites are pull through with a level concrete pad and electric hookups. Friendly staff and clean facilities. They keep one loop the C loop open during the winter.
Tim Burke
Very pleased as a bicyclist to see the roads were primarily smooth asphalt and not the choppy concrete of other parks. Lots of hiking trails and wildlife to view. Will most certainly return.
Jared O'Brien
Great place. Bring water shoes because sand is rough. Basically broken up rocks but place is really nice.
Joe Pitcock
They have just installed new docks and boat slips in the marina, looks fantastic! My friend who invited me has a slip there and said they have rebuilt all the bathrooms in the campground and the rest of the park so I checked it out. Chatfield is an old stomping ground of mine both fishing from shore and on a boat extensively and I have to say they have done a great job! New boat ramps, parking areas and walking paths. The project was done to increase the water level and I'd say it's up 7-8 feet or more now. I imagine the fishing is fantastic in the new flooded areas where the S. Platte comes in. If you haven't been there recently it's worth the time to go check it out.
Thomas Clark Fenner
Beautiful and great bike riding path all the way around the reservoir.
Still just as beautiful in the winter covered with thick sheet of ice. When it has been as cold as it has been this last week, you can walk all the way across and say hi to all the ice fisherman/women.
Aaron Douglas
Huge park with lots of things to do and see! I brought my drone and flew it at the airstrip.
Patrick Caustrita
Nice state Park. $10 daily pass then rented some canoes and went on the water. Good time for the whole family.
Fabia Lamm
Excellent views. Great excursion, visit and knowledge shared.
Mark Wallace
By far one of the best state parks. The dog park is huge! I would say if you can make it on a weekday much better than the weekend due to crowds, especially during the summer.
Can Eryigit
So beautiful!!! This is where stress comes to an end and where health & happiness begin:))
DeMarcus Rhodes
Had a great time on the lake. Park ranger was in full effect
Daniel Kelman
Really great state park, close in to Denver. Wonderful hiking trails on the south end, along both sides of the Platte River. Amazing bird watching. And a great sidewalk that circles the reservoir. Tge sidewalk on the west side is great for an evening stroll. Always see wildlife there.
Daze With
Great place to go for fishing, boating, swimming in the summer, birdwatching and various other activities. Take your dog for a walk, below the dam, in the dog park. Admission is $10
Charles Brantley
Great fishing and beautiful scenery! Got here at 5am, and caught Bass, Pike and Walleyes! at the North Boat Ramp!
BeInTheNow Media
Went for an afternoon stroll, very peaceful.
Brenda Hernandez
Great place to chill out for the afternoon/evening and early am
Winston Steelman
Cool dog park that costs more than it's worth.
R Burt
I always take my dog here and they have an awesome dog park and other amazing amenities. I highly recommend this state park
Jamie Caron
Chatfield has given us some memorable experiences! I caught the 2 biggest carp of my life there. One was as long as my arm. Ive caught many fish, most ive had to throw back, didnt meet size requirements, but they were fun! Recently i caught 2 Crapie, and a walleye that were keepers!
[email protected] Sipe
Beautiful Colorado State Park on the edge of Denver. Mountain views, Chatfield Dam, bike paths that go all the way to downtown. Camping sites with plenty of elbow room. Laundry room, in bathroom, shower building. Advanced reservations needed.
Worth the time 💚
Bobby Snyder
I will give it 5 stars but it is a very very busy lake for the amount of people that use it. The staff are awesome, but need about 75% more. The lines to get and out are long. The ramps get overloaded and the fish are highly pressured. The facilities are clean and nice. Swim safely and boat safely, people drown here yearly. Pick up your trash. If you are going to get away from people, this is not the lake for you. It is a great local lake to catch trout, walleye and smallmouth bass.
Sophie Kosiara
My family LOVES coming here for walks There is such a beautiful view of the foothills and endless activities. There are often people paddle boarding, kayaking, biking, fishing, boating, jet-skiing, and taking their dogs to the dog park area. When we want something more than just our neighborhood walk, but don't want to drive far into the mountains, this is our go-to spot!
Steve Fleury
The sites are quite nice and far apart. Each site had a flat concrete pad for your RV and electricity. There are bathrooms, showers and even laundries.
We were unable to take advantage but it appears to have an area for every water sport imaginable. It's close to highway 470.
Sourav Gupta
We visited this place on a busy summer weekend. So the ticket queue was quite long but it moved fairly quickly. We planned for a picnic and found a nice and quiet spot after some initial struggle... it was by the small river and everyone loved the place. We had an excellent day out in the park for few hours. Park is well maintained and saw the rangers were actively managing the parking lots. Overall, we loved this place and will come back soon.
Allaura Bryant-Watkins
It's a beautiful area with lost of open space for activities and games. Definitely coming back!
William Stenger
Great layout, all of the sites appear to be pull thru, with full hook-ups and fairly level spots. Camp hosts seem to ensure that the spots are clean and ready for the next guests.
AnnMarie Gonzales
Love camping here... although the lake wasn't close to our campsite
Cytosue L
We always stay at Chatfield when we come to Denver to visit grandkids. Best State Park in Colorado!
Robert Chartier
Beautiful scenery, the lake has a bunch of great beaches. Tubing is such a blast, I love this lake so much!
scottsw1
Campsites were very clean and they groom the stone pads and even clean out the fire pits prior to your arrival. Free wifi was also there. The park has coin operated showers and laundry too.
The clubhouse had several activities for the kids during our stay. Only negative is there are not a lot of trees.
Lastly, there park is very quite. No people howling at 2AM or drunk couples fighting!
Kory Gershmel
Amazing place to just have a good time!!! Don't be scared to walk back to secluded area more the worth the walk!!!
Jay Grasmick
All the way around a great place beautiful area Is!
sarmad jumaah
Great place for paddleboard and kayaking. But really crowded. Parking can get fill up really fast before 8 am on weekends.
Chris
The Park Rangers and Staff are very courteous. Their management of public safety is superb at a very busy park and reservoir. I had a safety concern that was unusual and related to child custody in which I had to make a report of. My children and I had planned some fun on my parenting time at Chatfield but the person whom my former spouse turned our children over to enter the park never walked over to the swim beach from the west entrance which is right there. I began getting word that my children and the person were lost in the park. I suggested they find a park representative to direct them to the swim beach after they were lost for 1/2 hour. When they finally showed I asked them how they got lost and why no swimming suites for the beach. The person then forced my children back into the car and took off. I opened a child custody concern report with a very kind officer with the help of a bystander who indicated it looked like the person taking off was kidnapping my kids. The officer was very compassionate of my parenting time and the feeling I informed him that were hurt of my children. They could have blown it off and said take it to court, but I now have a report for my children and I as to how I was there for my children.
Daryle Jackson
Great lake and trails even has so.e very nice camping spots. The few times I went there were too many boats and smaller water craft making huge waves that would come crashing up on the shore so fishing from the shore is unbearable. Some sports boats would try to come as close to the shore just to create the waves on purpose possible for the safety of the people being pulled behind them.
Randy Nelson
One of the nicest and well kept campgrounds we have seen! Beautiful views too! Sites are not on top of each other.
Dave Tell
Wonderful place for a picnic!
John Kearns
Great level camp sites most pull through with full hook up. As all are reservation only it is hard to find open sites on short notice. Very popular as close to metro Denver. Very well maintained.
Jonathan Stern
We checked in on Friday and check/in was fine. The site itself was clean and groomed however at the entrance to the site the shrubs are overgrown and rub against your rig as you pull it in.
While they advertise WiFi throughout the park it is spotty at best and is reliant on your location in the camping loops. When I called to inquire about it I was connected to a man who didn’t care and didn’t want to be bothered. Now I fully understand that when you camp it’s to get away from everyday distractions but if you advertise it then make sure it works.
Alex Guad
Nice lake with good fishing and water sport oppertunities
Matt Martinson
Hey let's face it, this is no lake Powell. This is a local lake that has safe, well-run boat ramps, gravelly but clean little beaches, people police themselves really well but when necessary the rangers are there quite readily. The view is amazingthe lake gets a little packed and some of the surf boats don't have very good edicate as far as being respectful with theire wake and others skiing lane . But for a local ,City lake this place is such a jewel. Very accessible for paddle boarding and fishing also. What a great place to spend the summer
T Ste
Nice place needs a little cleaning up.. but I still enjoyed my time here.
Aaron G
Such a gorgeous state park!! Nestled right at the edge of the southwest foothills, the views there are amazing!! The reservoir is rather large, and supports different kinds of water-based activities. Lots of camping spots are available, but it's such a popular park it's recommended to look into campsite reservations. Currently, there are several different construction projects all over the park, including an expansion of the reservoir, so access can be challenging depending on what your plans are. Until the projects are done, it's a good idea to go to their website to find information on closures, or if nothing else, ask the ranger at the entry booth for information. I love this park more with every visit!
Wendy Cragun
Great park. Easy to get to and great access. Plenty of parking. Paddleboard lesson. Instructor, Andrew at 5280 Paddle Sports and very patient and knowledgeable. Was getting busy when I left. Everyone on the pond and around very respectful. I was very impressed. Can't wait to go back and ride horses
Theresa Glassburn
Beautiful, clean lake with amazing sunsets!
We love that there are campsites with full hook ups.
Phil Lunnon
This was our first time out on the lake this year with jet skis. Great day, park rangers were very helpful and friendly. While the water wasn't choppy, it did have a lot of debris from this year's abundance of snow and rain. Our impellers got clogged, even in the middle of the lake. We had to cut our day short. It was just an unlucky day, but jet skiiers be aware of the debris.
Misty Mahannah
Beautiful area, I just wish it had better handicap assessable areas for my son in his wheelchair.
David McDaniel
Beautiful spot, deer wondering around, electricity and great sunset!
Sam Kilman
Great for fall colors! Especially if you go near the dog park!
mbodella
Very impressed with this park. It’s a must see if passing thru SW Denver or heading into the mtns. The campground is laid out perfectly, spacing was well thought out. The roads leading back to campsite are paved and smooth. But people drive really fast so beware. I had the feeling of being out in the country but shopping and supplies are down the street. 5 stars here with something for everyone.
Austin Jeffers
Beaitiful area with plenty of wild life (saw this porcupine after dark) and decent bank fishing. Its a shame people leave so much garbage. Pack it out!
Beth May
This park is an easy escape from the hustle of our busy city/suburbs. Great trails for hiking and access to the water from several beaches. Dog park is fun too but often feels a bit overused if you know what i mean :(
Babalao
Loved this park, lots of greenery and available facilites. Everyone was super friendly, including the park rangers and staff. Very big open areas .
Jimit gandhi
Fun place to spend entire day, kayak paddle boards also available for rent.
Ross Dessel
It really nice and provides you with a nice view!
A. M.
Love this state park! I have grown up at it for over a decade and it’s home. The park rangers are always nice and good and enforcing the regulations. Sometimes it’s busy but we have always had a good time! People will help you as well if you need it.
Clark McChesney
RV Camping: we were on loop d. Great site, well maintained. Trails are all in excellent condition. Laundry facilities were convenient and clean. We camped here 14 years ago and had a similar experience. Park Ranger at entry was very friendly and helpful. On a related topic, it is sad to see all the development on the south side of the park.
Karla Danes
This place always brings me fond memories. Lots of areas to explore and to have fun.
James Malocsay
I have enjoyed many weekends at Chatfield, but in the past two or so years the crowds have just gotten to be too much. They are almost always at capacity as far as getting a boat in the water goes but still a nice place to go for an evening stroll, or a weekend beach BBQ.
Mahendra Patel
Excellent park, great walking trails.
Randy Blair
There's lots to do. Spectacular views, fishing, boating not far from town the ranger at the entrance could use some extra help giving people process in.
Miguel “Bomb Billy” Carlos
Best time with the family in Denver Colorado
Letha Whipple
It was nice and quiet. Plenty of space between campers.
Trees in space B-58 and next space up need to be trimmed. To close to the air conditioners when we were pulling out.could cause roof damage if not trimmed.
Thank you.
Albert H
Very spacious and clean. Not crowded at all, but we went on a weekday afternoon. Normally we just go to the dog park (which is great) but also do paddleboarding now.
Aurrick Ferrant
It has recently been updated and has nice facilities. Great walking trails, fishing etc. The downside is that it is a relatively small body of water and generally a popular aka crowded place. It's great if you live nearby and only half a day to recreate but, if you have the ability to travel out of town, there are much nicer places in Colorado.
Jim Anderson
Nice peaceful hike at the rivers edge, good for the soul. They've cleaned it up quite a bit, looks like the eliminated a bit of rabbitat. Saw a toad and a snake.
Kathy
The dog park at ChatField is a good size. Could be bigger. People with dogs generally like to walk a lot off leash. This is near impossible in the mountains near Denver, so this park is a decent alternative. We need about 50 more of these though nearby. I say, turn all golf ranges into dog parks. In any case, this park has a few ponds and the dogs have a great time. I get a bit board, walking the same 3-4 mile's every day. Only other park is up north. Larger, but less water most of the year - so, I have no choice, unless the city and counties make a few more dog parks. Overall, great park - just need more like it so it isn't overcrowded and do there is variety in our lives
Mike B
Worth the trip. Not too crowded, quiet, clean
Jacob H
Lots of new facilities that would be great to stay at for a weekend. Good for fishing or just a day or two get away. However, the lake is still on the small side and shallow in most place. It isn't large enough to ski or tube on fire more than one or two boats at a time and even with that gets rough due to tr he size. It seems to be a mostly no wake zone lake.
Dustin Marx
Beautiful location in Denver metro area that can get busy due to the recreational opportunities and its close proximity to the metro area.
The Puppy
Amazing staff beautiful park with swim beaches playgrounds etc pretty much has it all!🤘💯 …
Charles Halsey
The swim area was all dirt and small stones. My kids started to dig and a funny came out. The water was great. It was marked off clearly. The snack shack was open and reasonably priced.
Al Mowrer
It's March, so it was nice because there was very few people there. I imagine it's super crowded in the summer and traffic could be bad. There's a lot of nice concrete walking trails.
michael marquez
Very special place since I was a kid beautful
Bryan Middleton
It's a beautiful place.
I do a lot of fishing.
Fishing is tough here.
CPW checked my fishing license 3 times in one day here.
Smaller size lake lots of boats
Taylor Baruch
Nice resivor to hang out or boat at. There is a section of the lake designated just for Kayak and paddle boarders, the hiking trails and walking path are very beautiful and relaxing!
C land
Head a great time horseback riding.....even seen a bald Eagle 🇺🇲 …
Kris A
Loved it! This would be a great place to paddle board. We will be back!
Carrie Ardel
Awesome lake! Tons of space to relax (albeit the sand has biting flies). Great place to kayak, as the water is very calm. Great place to bring the pups to swim! Hopefully they open up the other entrance soon so there isn’t such a long line to wait in to get into the park!
Raju Pinapati
Lovely place to go on a weekend. Fishing, open grill and scenic views are added advantages.
Megan Gates
This is my favorite off leash dog park in the area. Great access to water if you have a water loving dog!
Laurene Maxwell
Go early! This place fills up fast on the weekends. Water levels are quite low right now.
Eric Andrews
Chatfield is always a great place to unwind! Weekends are usually really busy but, even then you can find a quiet place to rest and relax!
Rick Acres
Our family loves Chatfield State park, every year been book a campsite B72 for a week, park the Motorhome and enjoy the Reservoir, horseback riding, hot air balloon rides, boating , hiking and biking trails. We only live 20 minutes away but we love taking our grandkids there and making a special time for them. Highly recommend checking it out.
Carson Martin
I always love coming here with my family each year and tubing. It's lots of fun and the whole family enjoys it. The waters nice and open and there is a friendly, open environment. The only issue is that almost all the trees have been cut down and hardly any have been planted in its place. It just makes the area seem a lot thinner and not the same. But overall it was a fun day boating.
Hassaan Faridi
Wonderful and spacious state park. It's vast and has a lot of stuff to do for all ages. Water sports, fishing, camping, biking, trails, picnic spots and also hobby model plane field.
Camp grounds are nice and spread around nicely.
The beach is nice and lots of space to enjoy.
Low Profile
We enjoyed a family Sunday without waste... I recommend this place to be able to clear up some of the noisyness of the city and connect with nature to recharge your batteries.
J Brown
Aside from how people love to set their day camp up right next to everyone with more than enough room my family, friends and I absolutely love this place. Fishing has always been great as well, you just have to know where to go
Susan Ruhm
Super fun! Lines were long together but they're good at getting you through them fast. I had a great time in our new/used boat.
Christopher Williams (G_1_SFOD-D)
Awesome campground for R.V.'s on A Loop. Full hookups. My gamily and I just used tents, and still had the funnest time. The swim beach was not packed, and any time we called grounds for anything they came directly to us within 4 minutes. Thank you Chatfield!!
Cherie Yager
A wonderful park. Huge! It has so much fun stuff to do and see. It's on a sm lake you can walk around. Kids play equipment is extensive and fun. There's a water splash and play park in the summer. Ball fields and covered picnic areas. Free concerts in summer and fun craft fairs too. Great asset to the community.
Lizzie Aoki
Water was super low, about 15 feet, fishing wasn't the greatest on the shore but looked good from a boat. there were just a few people/cars when we went to the boat launch area. Handicap parking available. State park so there were people there in the boathouse in case of questions or emergencies. Just a few cars in the parking lots for the hiking trails so no traffic on the way into the park. Construction is going on in the neighborhood next door, pretty sad there's more and more and closer and closer housing developments, this place won't be so open and natural as it once was. Enjoy it while it lasts!
JoAnne Owens
The campsites are large. Our site, B64, was on the outer loop so we could see no other campers and had a view of the lake. Our site was level. A walking/!biking trails surrounds the lake and is accessible from the campground. A central bath house holds the laundry. It was very clean. You must have a reservation for a campsite. You can make one online, or stop at campground registration once you enter the park.
Sara Wachtel
One of the best state parks in Colorado! There are so many things to do here, especially in the summer. Although, I have seen people ice fishing in the winter. We love it because of the dog park and are here almost every weekend. There is always space in the parking lot and they keep it nice and clean. Our dog Frank loves it!
ANTONIO VELAZQUEZ
The park is nice, first time I ever saw a coin op shower tho, ah well, 50 cents for three minutes.
R M
I like the vibe but it tends to get crowded at the 1 place to swim.
Ryan Shukis
Nice lake. I wish our family had a boat! Would have been so nice! I do wish the beach was cut back a bit more, allowing for parking closer to the shore. It was quite a walk, and we had a stroller, too. But overall, it was a very beautiful place!
Laura Maugel
The beach is long and there is lots of room to spread out if you're willing to walk. Boats are allowed so the water isn't as clean as Bear Creek. Swimming was seemingly allowed everywhere, not just in the designated area. We enjoyed SUP here!
Camille Pihourova
I like some parts of this park, and others not so much. In the summer, the "beach" area is way too crowded and there are some type of horrible fleas in the sand and grass that bite, badly bite! There are 2 smaller lakes further into the park that used to be really nice, but now they are getting really crowded too. I like to go late fall for paddle boarding when there aren't as many people there. There are some really nice bike trails though, any time of the year!
Elliot Ernst
Found a wonderful creek with lots of birds and wildlife. Fantastic spot to go on a hike.
Megan Snyder
Amazing dog park! It's 69 acres with 2 lakes for dog swimming and miles of trails for walking, running, and exploring. I hadn't been to the Chatfield dog park since they started charging a fee several years ago ($2/day or $20/year). We bought the annual dog park pass... WELL worth the money. Maintained, clean, and so much fun to let the dogs be DOGS!
Red Wilkinson
This place is beautiful, but a little hard to navigate. Maybe just because it was dark when we arrived. Showers are fairly clean but not included or any more private than a toilet stall. Reserving ahead is of course recommended but rather complicated.
Leah McDonnell
Weeknights are calm and peaceful. Best time to play or just be quiet.
Derek Harris
This is a bigger, and better developed park than it appears from a distance. There are a wide variety of different activities you can do here.
ILYA N
Convert and close by to Denver. Not quite a place for real camping with a tent, but excellent place for RV. Quite busy on the weekends. Reservations required.
James Sykes
It's absolutely Beautiful. It's like being on vacation without having to leave town. There's something for everyone of every age. Hiking, biking, boating, fishing, camping, bike riding, RC plane flying, etc... You need to get out there and have a great family outing or enjoy some alone time.
Heidi C
Can get busy and choppy. As a boating spot its the okayist in the area, the rangers are great but get ready for newbies at the boat launch. I do wish more people knew that they shouldn't just sit at the launch waiting for their cars.
Kristin Larson
Love to go here to paddle board both on the reservoir and at gravel pond. The kids love the beach area. The dog park is amazing to walk around and play fetch in the water, although the water is quite dirty there, so my dog has occasionally gotten ear infections from it.
Faith Maaliki
We had our family Reunion on a Saturday. I was lost for 45 minutes because the bridge was out. The signs are not clear enough to navigate quickly. The park was clean so were the restrooms. If you needed help the Rangers were available and helpful! We had a awesome time!
Charles Watson
Rough to hike! But some nice places.
asa
Always clean! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have year round events like Santa's Village, Corn Maze and Lavender festival. We paid about $20 per car and got to walk around the entire park and garden.
Dani Rae
Busy but lots of fun stuff to do WITH the fam
M Scherf
It's my local spot to paddleboard, great park with many activity options.
Patrice Antinore
Wonderful and beautiful. Great fun with friends.
