Reviews of Buck Creek State Park
September Brown (Pep It Up)
This park is quiet and very family oriented. I love the wildlife. We saw many deer and turtles. Camping check-in is a breeze. The staff are mostly friendly and accommodating when you can actually locate them. There was 1 staff member who was super rude in the camp store and hung up on us prior to arrival. She definitely wasn't the friendliest. The bathrooms are the cleanest bathrooms I've seen at a campground. Everything is convenient nearby. There's a playground, beach and marina. The beach was open but due to high levels of bacteria we did not swim.
Donald Johnson
My Son rented us a cabin for Father's day. It was amazing. Clean ,newly remodeled. Very comfortable beds, and very cozy. Quiet, friendly atmosphere. We loved it.
Nic Per
Definitely for able bodied folks, however they do have a paved trail if you don’t want to do the steps. If I lived nearby I’d walk it often. Definitely a place to spend the whole day. Where your swim shoes water looks rocky!
Roger DeLong
This is a big state park and so is the reservoir. It has all of the amenities except a lodge. The area is well maintained and in my opinion a very underrated or maybe just not well known state park.
Michael Beasley (MDBeezy66)
Very relaxing. Multiple camping options at an acceptable cost. Plenty of deer and they aren't afraid of humans. The beach at the lake is huge and clean. Employees are very friendly. No wifi and data speed is snail paced but phone and texting worked. Better download some content.
Jaime Tant (Ginger In OH)
Just based on interactions in the office, this place is great. Fall time is gorgeous. The lake looks peaceful. There is camping and a beach. But the staff was so nice, informative and kind. As Ohio Park Passport stamp collectors, it’s nice to talk to people that work there and can give valuable insight to the location. This lake has 3 names!! Visit and talk to the staff to find out ;)
Rich Brady
It was awesome! I'm in a wheelchair due to Cerebral Palsy and being a paraplegic. I actually used a Rascal to get around and I didn't have any trouble! The whole weekend was awesome thanks to the Isenbargs!
stephanie sanders
Great little lake and beach. The sand is a little rocky, but not terrible. We had a great time swimming and having a BBQ. There is a sidewalk to help you down if stairs or a hill is too much. Water was clean, no algae or seaweed. Would have been five stars but the bathrooms are disgusting.
David Fisher
Nice small campground with large sites. Nice clean shower houses. Most campsites have Sadly had all the trees removed so shade in a lot of areas is lacking.
John Hoyt
A great place to celebrate a graduate with friends and family. Kickball, water balloon fights and a full spread featuring brats, burgers and sides cooked on the super-sized grill provided were enjoyed by all.
Cat Doan
Not the sandy kind of beach, more like dirt and gravel, but the kids were ok with it. Bring water shoes. There are also lots of rocks and pointy pebbles in the water.
John Poland
Great place to camp everything you need is here and anything you want is within a 20 minute drive has a great beach
Bryan Coulter
Buck Creek, or the old CJ Brown reservoir is a great place to visit. Good for family gatherings and picnics. A great stretch of Beach to cool off at with the kids. Good fishing and they have a wonderful State Park for camping. This place is a great nature preserve around the City of Springfield. Boat ramps are available for lunch and pull out. The reservoir is not huge but everything is easy access except for camp parking for your boat. Rocky shoals prevents you from parking your boat at or around your campsite at the State Park. Otherwise this is a great place to camp boat fish swim and have family gatherings. Enjoy yourself thoroughly, and not want to go home.
Witches “Witches”
I love it,pretty clean beach. And not very crowded.
Beth Zboran
This is a typical state park in Ohio. The beach is nice. We came for the Ohio games multi race event. The set-up was good for the races. The day was super hot.
Will Trotti
An absolute gem in Ohio, the campground is secluded in the woods and not directly next to other people, you have the beach going through the woods
Katie Hering
Beautiful place to come and swim. Be careful as the lake bottom is very rocky and seagulls are always present to try and rob some food. Bathrooms are well kept and fairly clean. Lots of steps down to the beach near the restrooms but if you go a little farther down the beach there is a nice long walkway down for anyone who has trouble with steps.
Lisa Lee
Beautiful! Got there too late to swim but sunset was perfect.
Timothy Craig
2nd time camping there. The campsites are fairly large and the whole park is clean.
Cindy Checkeye
Great place to fish. Will come back when the weather gets a little better
Skammy5
This is one of the nicest places to camp we've been so far. You are deep in the woods and when night falls, it's dark. Period. There is electric for camp sites but no full hookups, which I'm good with. There is a dump station or two. There are also cabins to rent. The lake is ginormous. Saw lots of big boats out there. During the day the deer are popping in and out of the woods but at night the raccoons come out to see what you left for them. One was playing with our rope light we had strung on the ground. We'll go back again.
Julie Jurkovich
A beautiful sunny day. Apparently good for fishing, though we were at the CJ Brown Reservoir part. Lots of fishing going on. A few picnic tables but not much shade; however, it may be different in the Buck Creek area.
Jason Stanley
Depends on what you after here. Walleye fishing is preferred but bass and crappie are there as well. It's a TOUGH lake to fish. Camp Grounds are Awesome and we'll kept. Beach is as beachy as it gets but this isn't Florida so keep that in mind. Watch for algae in late summer. I say go.
Lexi Adkins
I love coming here just to walk around or watch the sun set on the water.
Gretchen Barger
Nice place to hike, bird watch and take photos that is close to home. Also, a nice place for an evening paddle in our kayaks. Gorgeous sunsets, too.
Justin Rogers-Cooper
Amazing place to walk, chill, run, picnic, relax. So many trails and spots to be. Fun little beach, great views of the reservoir and dam, more trails than you explore in a day. Seems like great fun with a bike. Peaceful, lots of birds, walkers, families. Interesting 70s vibe. Clean and working facilities (bathrooms), and was safe and friendly. Definitely going back.
Ravenecho1
This is a very nice and clean state park and reservoir. Very well maintained. Great place to go fishing, boating, swimming, camping, hiking, horse back riding. This park also boasts a nice long level beach and restrooms. I recommend giving Buck Creek State Park.
Jonathan Durichek
Great place to watch the sunset with long walking distances. I enjoyed it even though services where closed. The lake does have blue green algae which is posted so keep your dogs out of the water
Heather Evans
The weather was chilly and it started raining when I got there. Ive never been before so I wanted to check it out while in the area. The beach looked amazing I can't wait to go back on a warmer day
Kera McGill
Awesome place to hike.
Haley Steiner
Pretty nice campground! Improved since I was a kid (25 years ago). Bathrooms are a little rough, numerous stall locks broken, shower temp was just above lukewarm, but the showerhouse is heated slightly in the cold months which was great. They said the showerhouse is operational until about second week of November, potable water is available all year long. We camped Halloween night and actually walked around to see if anyone was giving out candy, tons of sites did! We had buckets full of candy! Lots of fun, 1 Lakeview Trail in the campground, nice playground.
James Earl
We love this state park. Sometimes we stay in the older "standard" cottages and sometimes we stay in the "remodeled" preferred cottages. If you can afford it it's worth the upgrade. If not you'll still have a great time. There is a lot of easy walking and trails. This is an excellent place to ride a bicycle. The lake is warm and beautiful but in most cases the beach is covered with geese droppings. Everything you could need is a short drive away. If you need a restaurant or grocery store it's only five to fifteen minutes away.
Jennie Doolittle
We visited on a sunday, there was plenty of parking, the bathrooms were decently clean, the water cool and refreshing on a hot day, and the water seems clean. I would recommend water shoes though, some of the people in our group stepped on some unfriendly rocks in the water. We took a group of 20 people ranging from 2 years old to 74 years old, and we had a blast! We even found a tree to have lunch under!
Mike Jones
I love Buck Creek State Park. I also like the federal side. There are tons of shelters tons of hiking and biking trails. Lots of places to fish from. Plenty of places to launch kayaks and canoes. A huge Campground with plenty of amenities and lots of cabins better very clean and very nice it's a huge part plenty of things to explore plenty of places to go. not always are lots of pain demon has lots of backcountry camping for free or islands in the back side of the part that are Army Corps Engineers that you can't I think I asked to the island take your things out there and Camp it's pretty cool massive massive take advantage of it if you have to run or bike or I'd just be in the water with a good place to be
Jill Horvath
This was our 1st trip to Buck creek and let me just say we were impressed. Our cabin was an upgraded one and it was beautiful, very clean and nice comfy beds. 1 bedroom has a queen and the 2nd bedroom has new bunk beds and a queen. I could live there. Saw lots of deer, raccoons, bunnies, and even skunks. Great place to hike or fish. We fished from shore and didnt catch anything however we had a great time! We will come back for longer stay.
Christin Oneil
Love it here. My family visits as much as possible. Clean showers and bathrooms on site camp store and on weekends they offer movies on the big screen and have popcorn for .25 Rootbeer floats and cotton candy for a 1.00 donation. On site park makes it great for the kids .
Jeff Butterfield
The Buckhorn trail is awesome. Just enough hills to get a good workout. Beautiful forest as well.
Vanessa Sue Long, Edgerton
This place is absolutely beautiful, has spectacular views, nice nature trails, clean public restrooms, a playground for the children and a place just to relax , take time to yourself or connect with with someone in a peaceful environment outside. Pretty place to take pictures too. Or at least I sure did while I was there and enjoyed every minute I was there with my family.
Kim Lange
So many places to walk, campsites are spacious, beach is ok and the staff is wonderful
Nora Zeller
I grew up swimming, fishing and boating here, now my grandbabies are doing the same. Looks like they are improving the beach/bath house area. Really appreciated the long switchback ramps instead of the steep downhill walk from the parking lot. I think we but the last day warm enough in the year for them to jet ski.
Ashley Patten
Calm and peaceful place to camp and fish, weather on shore or in a boat!
William Schlemmer
It's a great place to take your whole family to enjoy a day fishing, relaxing and get some sun, or just to have a picnic/get together at. All areas are kept clean and monitored by the park rangers for safety reasons. Come enjoy yourself.
Nellisa Frybarger
The weekend camping trip was great... The park was clean and quiet... Seeing the deer all around was so beautiful also!
travis l
Nice park. There are no trash cans anywhere just a fyi. It's a long walk if you can't take the steps, but a wheelchair and kids wagon is possible, and the sidewalk is nice.
EF Shepmore
This park is absolutely beautiful! There are so many things for families to enjoy. The scenery is breathtaking. Can't wait to visit again.
Daniel Rader
Very interesting place. I had a patty melt and my son had the Buffalo burger both were great. We sat by the fish tank with the piranha
Jennifer Leonard
This is a lovely, beautiful lake area. We plan to visit often and take in the view and breezes.
Elizabeth Wolfe
Nice spot for camping. The amenities such as the shuffle board and volleyball courts could use some updates, but overall each time I have stayed there I have enjoyed myself.
walter Haas
We cooked out under a pavilion and we were surprised to see the low turnout. It was like our own private space. Beautiful place. We will be back.
J Re
Part of the Ohio State Park system. 3 cabins are located near lake for wonderful views. They are clean and reasonably priced. Play area for kids. No boat rentals or other activities. Beach area for swimming and Boat ramps. Great getaway to unplug from city life. No wifi. Cell phone reception seems good.
Alison Colvin
The Lakeview trail is a great hike. Bridle trail mostly follows open fields with power lines.
TJ Tweedy
Ample parking, lots of beach space, and not a hike from.the parking lot to the water. Would advise water shoes for people with sensitive feet as it's more rock than sand, I didn't have an issue but a couple of my kids recommended the shoes.
Niel Stoppa
From a camping perspective, if your tenting it then make SURE you get a tent site. We took R.V. sites #54 and #55 and the only flat spot on the whole site was right next to the edge of the road and the pad the R.V. would normally be on. The rest of the site was a ditch and a ridge above it. Not a pleasant spot to sleep being next to the road. The ferrell cats running around are not enjoyable either. We had 4 different cats around our sites over the 5 days we were there. Lock up and stow away all foods at all times, the coons and the cats will grab your stuff when your 30 feet away from the picnic table at night. It happened!! They are very comfortable and very brave around people. The office on friday night was closed before 5pm which is waaaay to early for a campground in our opinion. Couldn't get ice or ask about firewood. Had to go into town for that. The bathrooms are small but very well upkept and the people were very friendly also. The Disc Golf course is great and the beach is nice too. Its a decent place to camp but had some drawbacks too.
deborah roberson
The cabins are the best place to feel secure and clean... All your accommodations are wait for you..
Absolutely 💯 .. Relaxation and adventure...You make it exactly how You want it..
Isaac Brown
A bit muddy, but that's to be expected in spring. Only explored about 3.5 miles of trail, but what I did see was great and I look forward to hiking more there.
Brent French
Took grandkids ti the park for a little bit. Not sure if I enjoyed the park or the kids. Bathroom were locked up so if they had to go.... well in the woods we went.
Britney Riddle
Love the layout and ease of access. Thank you for allowing fishing near the marina and having a bait shop there!
Donald Ramey
Had fun fishing with my dad
D. Cimorell
Spent the day at Buck Creek. We mainly just hiked and walked the dam but it has a really nice beach for an inland lake.
Matt Shoemaker
Great place to camp and go fishing. Campground is clean. Lots of options for both large campers and tent campers. If you pay attention to your campsite you can find a tent site in the woods away from the main road and about a 50 foot walk through the the woods to the lake (try site 23). Boat landing is clean and wide, able to launch 5 boats at one time. But if you don't have a boat you can find plenty of places to fish from the marina docks, landing docks, or various other locations. Easy to catch bluegill with worms almost everytime we visit.
mike summers
This was our first camping trip ever. My wife and I met great people. I got to go fishing. I did release what I caught. (3 cat fish). Our stay was peaceful. We will come back.
Sarah Wall
Our family enjoys coming to the beach at Buck Creek State Park! The beach is clean and well kept, without the goose poo, etc, that I often see around other lakes. The clientele seems
decent, too; I never feel uncomfortable or unsafe, and during almost every visit, I see a ranger patrol either the lot or the beach.
It is a sand beach, with a generous area in the lake for swimming. Underneath the lake is a rocky bed, so I recommend wearing water shoes if you are going to go into the lake. Bring lots of sand toys and the kids will have a great time. While there is shade available on the grass hill leading down to the beach, there aren't shade areas on the beach, so bring your own umbrella or tent. It's often windy though, so be sure you have a way to anchor it.
The parking area and bathrooms are up the hill from the lake itself. You can get to the lake Beach using stairs or a ramp, but you have to go up and down whenever you use the restrooms, so (pro tip) always have the kids use the restrooms before heading down to swim.
There are limited, if any, areas to grill and nowhere to purchase food. I recommend packing lunch and snacks, as well as beverages. The water fountains have been nonfunctional the last few times we visited, so be sure to also bring water bottles. There are trash cans at regular intervals along the beach, so please do your part to keep this beach clean, pleasant, and enjoyable for family trips!
Jackie Myers
Great place to take the kids, walk, have parties, lay out, boat, camp, whatever. It's clean and there is a ton of area to check out. Also a great area for pokemon fans!
James Gilliam
There's beauty to be found everywhere...
You just gotta know where to look...
As much as I abhor this town, there's ALWAYS something to help you look at the positives. That's why so many people get so content here, and even leave and come bk again and again.
This is where I'm from so I'll ALWAYS visit from time to time. But whenever I pic up my family and go, I'll finally be able to say I made the dream come true......
Brittany Green
There are tons of deer out there its fun to watch them play. Wonderful views and very clean.
Rose Miles
Beautiful.. Safe place to hike or walk. I always feel comfortable when I'm there.
Michael Barnes
I've been coming here for years reviewing and lost many accounts with my reviews
Nick Baker
The park was very well maintained and clean. The area we reserved for a birthday party was great. And as a bonus we got to see a double rainbow over the water!
Ray Schmidt
It's a fairly large lake and like most operated by the State of Ohio fairly clean but operated on a tight budget. Carry in carry out please. There is a challenging disc golf course. Hiking and camping. This park it more about the water though.
Margaret
We have a family vacation every year we picked the state park this year we had a blast and lots of quality family time the cabins were great we were in cabins 22 23 and 24 lots of deer lots of raccoons 1 skunk and some Wildcats it was like a condo in the woods
David Givens
It was nice. BUCK CREEK is a very nice park. It's just lacking some upgrade. The campground is need a restroom at the curve on the far end of the campground and 5amp service.
Danny Roberts
Joining family fishing late PM to early am .A good time launch ramp neat and easy access. Knew the area prior to the building the Dan and creating the lake and state Park .
sivart sivart
Great Beach. Very clean. Cabins and campgrounds very nice well maintained. ODNR was seen quite a bit. But thats a good thing for safety. I will be visiting again for many more years to come.
Jon Gibson
An experience contrary to negatives reviews I read online. I camped there for several days. The campground was well maintained, and the shower house was as spotless as is realistic to expect. The staff stopped in at least twice a day to keep it that way. The biggest surprise was no mosquitoes! The only bite I received my entire stay was from a fly. They must fog regularly. Lots of level sites, (except 91 and 92). I will be coming back.
Juan Jeffrey
I've been here several times over the years. Quality fishing and recreational areas, picnic pavillions, camping, hunting and biking/running trails. There is no on site bait and tackle store, but there are plenty within a few miles. It's a great spot to bring the family or if you want to enjoy the outdoors.
Joshua Chaitin-Pollak
Great state park with a beach and trails and a playground the kids loved. My only criticism is the sites are a bit exposed and close together, and the park volunteer site had a bunch of right wing flags all over their site - would be nice if politics wasn't on display at a state-run facility.
Dennis Betts
Tent camping
Good accomodations. Good hiking trails with friends
Scott McDaniel
Camping and fishing. Just did a short walk bird watching. Saw a nice little variety. You can boat, hunt, and hike here.
brian castle
Great place to camp. Ohio does a great job with their state parks! Plenty of walking trails , pet friendly. Lots of area to fish from the bank.. play ground for the children. Shower house is clean and well taken care of.
Darwin Niese
Park itself is beautiful! Many trails and great views if the lake. Campground is a mess and poorly managed. Anyone off the street drives though at any time. Feels like camping on main street of Springfield.
Kristina B
Awesome State Park. Clean very well taken care of. The sunsets are gorgeous.
Tina Powell
Great park. Clean facilities and plenty of space to swim or just sit and relax. Lots of people boating and water-skiing. All around great place to visit.
TRACY BURSKE
Well kept state park. Campground is very nice. Bath house was very clean.
Mark Peters
Always great camping at this state park. Sites are spaced well and restrooms are clean.
Renata Fogt
Nice atmosphere diverse crowd but not to many people and that sunset...Ill be back tomorrow
Jeff Newlun
Stayed in the cabins for the first time they're excellent they were clean and very friendly staff
Kneblie Kneblie
The place has a very pretty view, but it's a little bit stinky from all the goose and seagull poop. It's a far walk from the parking lot to the beach area. There was a foot washing station but no showers.
Ken Davis
Relaxing area for a birthday party or reunion or picnic. Nice playground for kids. Shelter kept us dry during a short downpour.
Marina Richter
Nice long beach but not the cleanest water. Cool to see the planes flying while we swam!
Bob Guthman
Cabins were very nice. Easy check in & out. Didn't spend time on the lake, but LOVED the Disc Golf Course!
Atraxa
A great place to get away and see water and wildlife around dusk and dawn. Very pretty scenery in autumn and summer!
E. Moore
It was a decent place but the day that we went it was very rainy and stormy. It's clean and spacious, wasn't too crowded and we had a very fun time. It was VERY clean for a natural park. Even the bathrooms were clean. We will be back there again for sure.
Keith Crews
Nice park with a big reservoir for fishing and boating. Lots of trails for hiking as well.
Douglas Young
Early and Late season camping is the best. No crowds crisp air.
Kenneth Hardiman Jr
This was our 2nd time and of course there will be a third! We always stay in the cabins.
Anieca Parker LMT
Need to clean up dog poo close to the beach but that's my only complaint. Water was beautiful can't wait to return to walk the trail
Christopher S
Great place to run and hike!
Eric Barton
Great place to windsurf! Been coming here with Tom Goff for over 30 years!
Ken Tilley
Scouting camp spots, this seems like a nice place. Added it to my list of potential places to stay this summer.
Carabear Black
Loved camping this weekend! Staff was friendly and very helpful. The restrooms were clean and always closer by no matter where were went. The beach was rocky but we brought our water shoes and had the best time! The private camping beach is so much better than the public beach but we still enjoy the public beach when not camping its huge and there is always room for everyone.
Adam Hartbarger
Great relaxing place 2 exercise or just walk and or fish love this place great for dog walks
Ms. Marie
First time on campgrounds. Nice lots and park was packed but clean. Public restrooms by the boat ramp is a whole nother story. State Park needs to keep those restrooms clean and make sure that there's soap and the hand dryer works, along with toilet paper.
Shasta Stephens
The cleanest Ohio Beach I have ever visited! It's absolutely beautiful.
Harv Martens
Nice sandy beach with very few people (midday Wednesday). No picnic tables/ shelters.
Megg Wiseman
We spent a week with a camping lot and a cabin. It was a great time. I will definitely be returning more often than before to camp.
Angelea Bennett
Lots of fun!! Had a wonderful day!! And pet friendly is a huge plus! Very clean.
RANYA ODEH
I just love the view I do hate the rocks in the water it hurts my feet but I love going there with my family and friends it's a really great spot to go and just relax.
Rebekah Cotner
Nice state park, several scenic spots to see, and good trails.
Anna K
I love it here! It is beautiful and a great place to go for camping, walking, picnics, light hiking, disc golf, fishing.. ETC!
John Dannaker
Awesome state park to camp lots to do and absolutely beautiful.
Carwyn Floyd
I enjoy going here, nice to look at the lake.
Phyllis HalfAcre-Holt
Loved it first time going enjoyed it all six of my grandchildren do to I loved seeing the smiles on their faces not sure why I did not take any pictures
Valerie W.
Best spot to catch a sunset in Springfield!!
Jessica Hartson
My family has been visiting the beach at Buck Creek State Park for several years. Our trip there yesterday was quite enjoyable just like each trip before.
Hello
It was rough wading in the water on top of rocks, but at least the layout part is sand. It's nice per Ocean beaches are really far away and expensive
Nathan Jones
Nice cabins, small campground, but very nice faculties. Good fishing.
Richard Layne
Huge park, beautiful lake, nice trails.
Pamela Hall
Beautiful lake, well maintained . Always very clean, lots of walking trails, camping if all kinds, kid friendly with playground. Horse trails, beautiful beach area.
Michelle Paul
Always a favorite. I state park hopping, great rental cabins, boat rentals, and very nice beach!
Melissa Lickliter
Great place to go on a nice quiet peaceful walk.
Matt Barnes
Nice park. First time there. Cabins were very nice though the fire alarm went of randomly each day in the cabin we had. The beach was ok and we enjoyed swimming. Only negative was the poison ivy everywhere. The photo of the railing going down the hill to the lake is where poison ivy is mowed off so I actually didn't realize I was in it until it was too late. 10 days with poison ivy rash now. Be careful there with little kids not to let them walk through it.
Nikki Angel
Beautiful water. Not slimy when you walk it, a little rough due to all the rocks. All in all a great place to swim and catch some sun.
Jacob Wilson (Jake)
This is and has been a favorite particularly for the relative closeness and the various activities available. Fishing, hiking, camping, boating, swimming, kayaking, dog walking, opportunity for landscape photography, etc...
Sometimes the water is not always the cleanest but mostly due to the public litter.
Brian Nance
I live in this area and fish the lake a lot and i have water tested many boats on this lake. Great place to go spend the weekend and camping but my favorite place is in the cabins worth checking out
Amber C
A couple more signs for finding your way to the proper cabin would be helpful.
Cabins are nice, slightly awkward layouts, clean.
Kari Kruger
Love the size of the beach and everything was clean, just wish the rocks weren't so bad.
Bobby “Bad Bunny” Bachand
Sad you can't even swim in it anymore from the algae bloom. Every year as of late.
Marva Brown
Simply beautiful around this time Year
chaparro lopez
you have to be careful with what may be in the water, so that the fish are dead it is better to be careful when entering to bathe
Wendy Martin
This is our first time visiting and it was a nice place. My only complaint is that the camping beach really needs a trash can and raking. There was a TON of goose poop and regular taking would keep the beach nice. Otherwise, trails were nicely mowed and bathrooms were cleaned daily. The small size of the campground meant it wasn't a rowdy as Hueston Woods or Hocking Hills, so that was nice. The only drawback is that so many of the sites had almost no shade, so it get hot in the middle of the in a tent. Most campers were in RVs, but we're tent campers, so that's a concern.
Michael McCathrin
Nice park, but the public beach is filthy. Go some other location around the park for a nice experience.
Dany Rosenquist
Very beautiful view! First time for us to fish, caught about 5 or 6, but for bottom fishing it is a little rocky! I'm sure we will venture back this way we drove an hour to give it a try

Nice lake, nice camp sites. Can't wait to make next trip camping...
Adam Kelley
Lots to do around here. Clean and we'll kept. Level campsites with plenty of space and shade!
Kevin Presser
Went for an AA function it was great and Couldn’t of asked for a better place to Have it at!!!
Deidra Grimm
It's always easy to social distance while your on the water!
Josh Roberts
Nuttin but Butter late into the afternoon. Best wakeskating water I've had in Ohio. Expecting major change now that the heat's finally hear.
Jessica Metzger
Rented a cabin for the weekend w/ my family of 4. We were able to get one of the cabins that was renovated in 2016 & happy w/ it. We appreciated the parking & walkway to the cabin were shoveled before we arrived. Enjoyed being out away from busy Columbus for a few days. Plan to return during warmer months for hiking & swimming.
Jeannie Miller
Excellent camp grounds beautiful scenery. Camp hosts are very wonderful. They have crafts for family on weekends and they do movies with family's every weekend . Highly recommend this place to everyone looking to get away for the weekend just to camp go swim hang out etc...
Morgan Perryman
We absolutely love coming here. We have tent camped and pulled out camper. The spots are level, the bathrooms are clean, and the staff at the check in is so helpful.
Whether you're coming to camp for the weekend, or just swim for the day, you'll be sucked in and have to keep coming back.
Mollie Palmer
Wonderful place. We love visiting whenever we get a chance. Stayed in the Cabins very nice and the staff are so friendly and helpful.
Christopher E
My second family has held their annual family reunion at the Buck Creek cabins every year since 1989. I hadn't been in some years, but that feeling of being a kid again came back as soon as I got out of the car. And the upgrades to the cabins are very nice.
G Money
Good fishing. Clean beach area. Just a nice place all around.
Thomas Martin
Very nice park. We had to tour the park a couple times to locate the pavilion we rented. Some signs would be helpful.
Jonathon Caudill
Awesome place to get away for some fishing, camping, hiking, or boating. It's pretty quiet, clean, and abundant with wildlife to see.
Aaron Zaremsky
Have lots of memories boating, fishing, and hanging out with close friends up here in the park, in the lake.
A relaxing and fun experience for anyone in the area that needs time off from the stress of modern life.
Gary Richards
SHOWER ROOMS NEED UPGRADED. ALL THE OTHER STATE CAMPGROUNDS HAVE UPDATED SHOWER FACILITY'S. WE'VE BEEN TO 6 OTHER PARKS THAT HAVE UPGRADED. THEY ARE REALY NICE.
Alaska Young
Love it. Clean as far as public lakes go. People mind their business. Fantastic
Carol Rison
Nice park. Large beach area, acres of wilderness. Campgrounds were noce also.
Brandi Hill
The beach is nice area tontake the kids to swim.
Jonathan W Sutherland
Great place! Depending on the time of year, the beach and water may not be nice to swim in (goose droppings), but the area, including the connected bike trail, offers beautiful areas to explore! Is also connected to the Ohio Rail-to-Bike trails, so would be a great stop on a long bike trip!
James-Eric Zuehlke
Beautiful spaces, clean, and well laid out, this will definitely be on my return and recommend list. I stayed in an electric camp spot with my tent and felt like it was well tended, well keep, and a great base to work from for a few days. The beaches were nice and friendly, trails were enjoyable, and folks were friendly. Camp store was closed due to corona, but plenty of reasonable nearby options available. My one frustration was unclear check in process with the office closed, but a small issue easily managed. I will be back!
Charice Egler
Never been. Took my kids an they had a blast. Very friendly and clean
Jay Price
Water is nasty and there is NO FISH IN THIS RESERVOIR! NOT RECOMMENDED!!
Paula Northern
Well maintained state park. Camping area is very nice with space between each site, lots of level pads for trailer/RV camping with electric hookups and primitive spots with no hookups. Bathrooms/showers are clean. Nice maintained hiking paths.
Jacque Harenberg
Great place to walk, run and bicycle.
Helen Crow
Cabins were great as were amenities. Only negative was no handrail on steps into some of the cabins. This was a problem for me because I have bad knees. Next time we will make sure to get a cabin with the hand rails. Beds were very comfortable!
Miriam Weaver
Love kayaking here or watching sunset. Only crowded on holidays.
Lyrix Ford
Great well maintained with amazing views dog friendly
Tiffany Renee
I love hiking, swimming, fishing, and camping here
Garnet Harris
It was a beautiful day by the water & we watched a sail boat in the distance. We put our feet in the water, it felt great. The water was so clear. We Mackenzie Wilson & I could see all the pebbles in the water! Just an amazing day!

The park is beautiful, especially at night to watch the sun setting over the lake. However, I wish the community would do more with the area. The beach is gravel more than sand and the visitors don't always take good care of the area. It could be a vital and flourishing area of Springfield but needs some additional funding and staffing to make sure it has a family friendly vibe and isn't just abandoned to the worst of Springfield.
Larry Gerthoffer
We had a a damn fine time,
Enjoyed the thrill of the bypass spillway. There's much more to explore Springfield's lucky to have such a place in their own backyard
judy haerens
A nice park but I didn't think it was equipped with enough signs on the roads leading into the park. Took to many wrong turns. There weren't any dumpsters at the dump station so take your trash out before that. The trail that we took was along the water. It was nice but people don't care if they leave trash behind. But over all I wish we could have stayed a little longer to check out the beach and the pier. It was nice. On a side note does anyone else have trouble with ohio State reservations site? I always have issues. So maybe it's me.
Victoria Kreckman
Lots to do, hiking, swimming, biking. Good spot for lunch. Enjoy watching the boats on the water
Jessi Hansen
Beautiful park, excellent disc golf course. Lake is pretty beautiful as well.
Chris Berry
Beautiful park to visit. Be careful , ticks are already out feasting on bodies. I had one buried in my arm that was infected with lyme disease. Luckily caught it early and got started on antibiotics. Be sure to use bug spray!
Graham Bush
Liked camp ground very much except camp host displayed 2nd Amendment flag displaying AR-15 rifle. This is in bad taste considering recent Texas shooting.
Laura Bolte
Beautiful park, really nice campgrounds. 5 stars for clean shower houses and a dedicated primitive loop. Big plus that there is a cut through from the primitive sites to the shower house. 1 star for really bad neighbors with loud music and cars running and coming and going after 11pm and no one shutting it down. 10/10 would still reccomend because you always get the occasional jerk anywhere.
Rachel Meisner
Always a great day when we go to Buck Creek, for walks, playground, a nice Sunday drive, teaching our teens how to drive!
Aamir Sayeed
Amazing place spread around the lake with many picnic spots. The washrooms were all locked as of March 27 maybe they will open them up from April. Only the washroom at the boat area was open so that was still saver.
David Morgan
At the Trailhead for the horses this late in the day trip was fun.
Ryan Gruber
Beautiful Family Dam Recreation Area
Jim Bell
The cabin is okay. The staff is very nice. It is very quiet. We were here mid week so we didn't have many neighbors. TV with DirectTV. Fairly well equipped. Could use some more silverware and serving utensils. Playground. LOTS OF DEER AND RACCOON. Nice lake to walk around(March). We had a dog friendly cabin. Cost was minimum. Good time.
Steven Ray
It's the best place to catch multiple species of fish in this area. Good place to take a quiet stroll with the family or hit the lake on some jet skis. There's a nice little park to take the kids too as well. Wanna go pleasure boating, 2,000 acres to cover.
Leo Rader
Such a great park for camping, hiking and playing in the wonderful lake. There's a small pebble beach right by the campsites, and a big sand beach a couple miles away at the entrance. We take a jet ski and kayaks every year, the lake is perfect. Good campsites, everyone is friendly and nod to each other as they walk by. Bathhouses are dated but functional, maybe they'll get updated soon. Lots of wildlife about.
Sam Robert
Lovely water! Great for boating, if you like that. Nice camping area too. We like to go and watch the sunset. There is a disc golf course, as well as light hiking.
Michael Craig
Beautiful! Not sure about the fishing , but I will be going back soon to do some for sure
wendollyn stewart
Very nice place to take family
Crystal Gilmore
Love the beach and we go there often my only issue is that on our last visit everybody was having huge fires and I'm worried they're going to burn it down and ruin it for everyone because they were setting fires right under the trees by the bathrooms
Lisa Crider
A great state park that needs an update. Sites are nice size but lack 50 amp service and water. Water locations are numerous but located poorly as you have to pull in on opposite side of road to fill
Krista Mason
Been coming here for years. Absolutely beautiful. Lovely scenery and amazing place to bring the family. There are parks, campgrounds and a reservoir for swimming during warm seasons. Will be coming out again when I can 🙂 …
Dawn Vanarsdale
The colors this time of year are so very beautiful.
T C
Love this wonderful gem right outside of our city
jimmy martinez
Always have great experience in this lake. Love it!
Rakesh Kumar
I really enjoyed a day of camping with my family. The lake is pretty nice. It also has a small swimming area just for campers. It is not terribly crowded.
Showers are clean. Each campsite is pretty big and has grass and trees. There is a good play area for kids as well. Check for different nature programs. It is one of the best camping areas around columbus, OH.
jamie nicole
Wow this is terrible! A group of jerks can't clean up after themselves without mommy! They leave their trash at the basketball court and ruin it for others.
Dominic DeCaro
Very nice park, but the tackle and restaurant are both closed down
Bill “flavorfulbbq” Carpenter
Nice park. Great views and wonderful place to reflect, relax or take a hike. We have stayed in the campground as well. The restrooms are clean and the sites are a mix of isolated to right and compact. The clientele is mixed and some not so desirables but not overwhelming.
Deborah Potter
The location is great! They have a variety of things to do. The sites are a good size with an easy back in layout, and fairly level. There are both electric and non electric sites available. The lake is beautiful with a beach at the campground as well as the public beach.
Matt Baugh
Always a wonderful and calming experience to walk here. People are friendly and in the warmer months it can be so beautiful
Matthew Sova
Came here regularly last summer and had great beach experiences. I'm not sure what happened this year. The beach is overrun with families blasting music and the water is pretty gross. I went on the other side of the reservoir near the campground and it was a little bit better
Bergy Five
Beautiful day to see the lake views and great weather breezes. Couldn't ask for a nice Summer day to enjoy one of Ohio's many natural resources in State Parks. No fees to enter the park unless you want to camp or stay over in one of the cabins. Great marina area as well! Get out there and enjoy what is left of Summer days!
John Stephens
Nice small local lake. Did some SUP paddling for the day. Nice parks. The duck blind area was a bit shallow but at least not many fast boats could enter. The lake was fairly clean in comparison to many Ohio lakes. Low shoreside development, which gives it a nice primitive natural feel.
AnnMarie Buswell-Multari
All over Ohio for work and frequently come to Springfield Ohio and I never knew there was something so beautiful here. In the grounds are kept very well it's it's really beautiful here it's very clean open and safe
Tracy Watson
This park is always so quiet and relaxing. The land is beautiful. They have so much to offer.... Cabins, camping, boat dock, disc golf course, horseback riding trails just to mention a few. They also have a great little bait shop and restaurants area.
The beach is ALWAYS clean and peaceful.... Numerous walking trails throughout the park... Awesome get away spot!
Alan Fodrey
This is a fantastic park to visit. Whether you're looking for a challenging 18 hole disc golf course to play, a beach where you can go swimming, a lake for fishing, or fun hiking trails that are dog friendly, you will have an awesome time here! I would highly recommend.
Mark Jacobson
Nice place and nice camping area. Only complaint is that we wish they would clean the bathrooms at least once a day. All stalls on the men's room were out of toilet paper for over 24 hours.
L M
I enjoy taking my dog here to walk along the beach. I like the walkways down the hill and the sidewalk that runs the length of the beach. Don't have to get your feet sandy if you don't want to.
Prefer it to Caesar Creek.
Dina Barnhart
So much To do with my little ones (1-9 yrs). We enjoyed camping here over father's day weekend. While my husband and FIL went out on the boat we had fun at the park, beach and nature center. The best part of it all is the restrooms didn't smell like a porter potty like most outdoor restrooms do.
Charles Darwin
I went kayaking there. It’s a great place to go swimming and kayaking.
Lisa Boling
Really beautiful place but the office staff was less than friendly or helpful. Seems to be a lack of enforcement and security. We got stuck beside a camper with (4) XL loud dogs. The owners left their dogs locked in their camper barking for 10-12 hours at a time but seemed to arrive back in just enough time to ruin our night. Called the ranger and apparently since they didn't attack me and since the owner had an unexplained situation they basically did nothing but accuse me of threatening her. Not true! They should be a little more worried about animal cruelty, and the fact that their bringing several small children into a camper that 4 huge dogs live in unattended. There is zero chance it's a clean environment. I've been to several different state parks and I can tell you this wouldn't fly. Hands down I prefer to keep my family to ourselves and typically wouldn't even get involved but we are paying customers too and when I saw her pull up with a van full of kids that did it for me. We're hopefully going to try out the kayak park and I'll let you know how that goes since I saw a sign stating don't touch the water....lol Apparently they use Buck Creek for sewage runoff??? Fingers crossed
Pamela Henry
Great place to hike with the kiddos
Papa Caskey
Cleanest water and st park around never floods and plenty of different species of fish to choose from
Dion Nolcox
Good ride on the bike trail!
Crystal Johnson
Camping is always pleasant at the reservoir. Clean, peaceful and I really enjoyed the movie night, mostly for the kids. Always a great atmosphere. We got rained out but enjoyed the time we did get.
Jason Grove
Beautiful site on a man made lake. The campgrounds are well maintained and what staff we did see were knowledgeable and friendly. Our camp site was very nice as well as our neighbors next to us. Only, bad thing to say about it is the unfortunate troubles the lake has with the blue green algae. Great trail, beautiful lake with many hidden private outlooks. Highly recommend a trip.
K mack
Amazing fun place to stick your feet in the sand and enjoy the weather and cool water
Melissa Farris
Beautiful and peaceful place to go for a walk.
Val Turner
It was ok. They need to monitor the sand and beach area by picking up the bird poop more often...It was peaceful and nice enough to get away from the city and enjoy the sand on your feet and breeze. Well kept grounds for the most part.
Jason Lovely
A little busy but still amazing
Matthew Warnimont
This place was a great time. We do the primitive camp sight which even has an electrical outlet to assist in blowing up your air mattresses. The beach is fun just wish they'd scoop out the rocks. If you're going to beach and you're getting in the water, wear some diving shoes. If you don't you're feet will be walking on sharp rocks.
Tammy L. Copley
Enjoying another visit to Buck Creek State Park. Campsites are easy to access and spacious.
Steven Grabill
If you like the outdoors you'll love this place . Great walking, camping, and swimming areas. They also have good fishing, and a good place to boat at. The beach is clean and always make good memories. Picnic and alot of other stuff to do. Treasure hunts and bird watching.
Brenda Pennington
Great place to view wildlife and walk
Zachary Elwer
Great place to go for a camping weekend! Came down and went to visit the local antique stores in the area. Very nice and quiet being way back away from civilization. Each site has plenty of room to set up camp and not be on top of your neighbor. Can't wait to come back again next time.
Tisha Patterson
They cleaned the beach extremely good.. it was very nice.. here's a tip.. if u go there at 8 am you have the entire beach pretty much to urself.. I do this every time I go there which lately is every weekend. Everyone keeps their distance as well. Only thing I do like is the hill I have to walk back up.. lol..
Tay Adduci
Very nice and very clean! Just didn't love it when you walk into the water and it's all rocks. I even went a little deeper and it was still rocks. Not something they can obviously help but I wouldn't want to go back because of it..
Samantha Ray
Not my most favorite of state parks. Water is very murky. Full of Algae. You snag your fishing line more than not. Fish are also more scarce than many of the other stocked waterways.
Howard Marcum
LOVE camping here!!! Have been here probably 4-5 time in the last 2 summers. We have never had a bad experience here till this wkend ( which is why I wouldn’t give it a bad review/stars bc all other times have been great). So this was our first time this summer camping here and the camp host on site 38 is so rude and unhappy. She parked like 3 ft from our friends camper and he went over to see if he could help her (bc we thought she was there for us and needed something) and she said “do you see this spot all this grass is my site” in a rude tone. We were blown away bc we have never had anything but a good exp we just thought she needed something. And by the way she had her driveway and closer to her camper available. So being parked within 3 ft of their parking pad was a bit much. The camp host from lot 38 rode around on a golf cart with a unhappy face every time we seen her the whole wkend. She just seemed miserable. Other than that we always have a good time and they have a campground beach!
Nonie McD
We stayed at Buck Creek fir a week, Sunday to Sunday. They offer electric and non-electric sites. The paved parking pads are pretty level. They have rental quad pedal bikes, basketball courts, playgrounds, volleyball, shuffleboard, extensive hiking and bridal trails, a sandy beach, marina and camp store. The camp hosts decorated for fall/Halloween more than any campground I’ve seen. There were lots of children who behaved quite well. At night the place was quiet. There were three problem areas. The restrooms were clean but of five stalls in the women’s side, three had doors that didn’t latch. When my husband told the camp host that someone had rubbed excrement on the toilet seat, they told us to go to the park office. The showers were hot and strong. We tried without success to reserve out site through Reserve America online. So I called. They told me that sites were all walk ins. We got there, selected a site, used the envelope system and set up. On Monday morning the camp host told us that we would have to move as our site because it was reserved for the weekend. All other reservable electric sites were also reserved except for walk-in sites #1 and #2. If we waited until Friday they might be gone. We moved only to find a note on the closed camp office that “all electric sites” were booked for the weekend. We called the campground, the park office and every number listed. Nobody answered except for the park police who knew nothing. We left messages. We worried that our planned birthday celebration wouldn’t happen. By later in the afternoon we had it straightened out but the mixup should not have happened. We had a wonderful week. Beginning Nov. 1st, all sites are walk-in. #13 has lake views. #1 and 2 are right near the basketball court. The skeleton staff was very nice.
John Buckingham
Buck Creek is... ok. There's not a lot of glaring issues, but not a lot of super amazing features. Fills up pretty quickly in the summer, so set your reservations early.
Melvin Frost
Wide open area, lots of things to do camping, boating and picnicking, plus a large beach.
Alex K
No dogs on beach, fairly clean, recommend getting there early if you want a shaded area. Expect people to put their stuff right next to you if you put yourself on the beach.
Amy Honsberger, LISW-S
Beautiful place. Unfortunately no one enforces quiet hours.
Brian Wiseman
I'm excited and very humbled that we have such great places to enjoy in Springfield like the CJ Brown Reservoir I love going here with the family or by myself just to watch the sunset.
Liz Mast
Great camping. The sites are pretty close together but we had good neighbors. Has a pretty beach but of course was to cold to enjoy it. Lol
Tom Erlenbach
Very large park around the reservoir. Only played the disc golf course this last time. The course is VERY hard; especially if it's windy. Also, many of the tee markers have either fallen over or not there. Lots of disrespectful people who leave litter along the way.
Misty Ferguson
This place is so huge. Went to watch my daughter's cross country race. This time I was able to park within a mile of the finish line but last time it took me 45 minutes to walk to the starting line. They definitely need more parking if they are going to hold huge high school events like this every year
Motohio (Motohio)
I rather enjoy this small state park, it is well kept and clean. Parking is plentiful and from what I could see the boat ramps aren't too steep. Just doesn't have as much as some other state parks offer.
Jason Barnett
Good lake for boating, though shoreline fishing is limited mostly to the riprap wall around the spillway. Some hiking trails, but nothing really spectacular to see. The Crabil homestead is worthwhile and the prairie area attracts lots of wildlife watching opportunities. Hunting is next to impossible from crowding and the numerous horse and bike trails intersecting the North end of the park. Lots of potential...but could use some work.
dale briggs footage Whitewater Canoeist
Great water features on Buck creek!
Kristen H
Wow! What a fantastic state park!! We had a great weekend tent camping. The trails are great. Sad we didn't get to swim.
Tyler Maas
Beach, boat ramps, disc golf course, horse trails, and campgrounds. Very nice area and the disc golf course is pretty difficult and there are two baskets for each hole. Lake is good for boating and kayaking. Beach is like a sand/rock mix.
John Webster
I live 1.5 miles from the Park and I walk there four days a week. Nice grassy trails and paved bike trails. Only really crowded on the weekends. Nice marina, cabins that are back away from the more public areas. The lake is typically uncrowded. The park is close to Springfield and shopping.
BreAnna Singleton
Beautiful state park with a large lake, lots of boaters during the season. I was looking forward to some fishing, but lack of (or unenforced) no wake zones make fishing nearly impossible from the shore. Camp sites give some distance from your neighbors. Primative, powered sites, and cabins available, all walking distance to the water. Speed limit doesn't seem enforced either, which can be scary with lots of foot/bike traffic along the road around the camps. Oh, and raccoons are brave, don't leave anything out they might want.
Josh Brandyberry
Awesome time disc golfing here. Takes around 1 1/2 hours for two people. Signs will point you where to park. First 12 or so holes are hard, fun, and in the woods. The last few holes let you get free and just fling those opening drives. Check yourself for ticks though! It's almost April and we found two ticks on us after doing the 18 holes. NBD but don't forget to check. There is a restroom at the end of the course. Also there are 2 or 3 trashcans along the way so don't through your trash out.
Mary Snyder
I went camping for the first time. I stayed in a colemans pull behind. I had a great camping site. I had a fire ring and electric hookups. I even brought my dogs. We weren't far from the beach. The dogs loved it and so did I. I can't wait to go back.
Richard Mellott
A Beautiful park to take a walk and see the magic of Spring.
Bob Eubanks
Needed solitude and was great sunny and clear
Tony Krug
can't wait for camping season to start
Alex Crawley
A diamond. I only visited the beach portion, but it was really clean. I recommend wearing water shoes because the water has rocks and they hurt the feet.
Rebecca “Becca” Slates
Great place for family fun on the boat and off
Adrian Tilley
Very serene and beautiful environment
RJ
Beautiful state park just too bad there's too many lazy and ignorant people who don't know what a trash can is.
Teresa Henderson
The trails was so nice to walk, and we seen so many things. We took so many pictures, we actually stayed there longer than we had planned.
Joanbboysmom Brooklynn
We have my family's reunion here every year memorial day week. Lots for the small and oversized kids to do.
Mom reserves the ADA cabin as she and my aunt are both wheelchair bound and it's always clean and well stocked.
Alicia Martin
Love coming to swim but wear water shoes! Those rocks can hurt!
Mike Jackson
Beach needs cleaned up (broken glass and goose poop). Really need to layer with a finer sand composition all the way into the water to be gentler on feet. Swim area buoys need repositioned. Trim trees back from walk paths. Other than that, a pleasant trip.
Charles McGeoghan
Nice place for short term stay.
Kyle C
Beautiful place to camp and explore. Facilitys were clean and will definitely would like to visit in the future
Aaron Long
The beach at this lake is a great place to spend your summer!
Cindy Byerman
Loved having our picnic there.
Marcie Gaebel
Attended the first session at the buck Creek location and Iam so glad I did! Spent the majority of our time out side in the sunshine instead of being locked inside a hotel. Relaxed atmosphere. Knowledgeable, friendly, respectful, and caring staff. Cabins are clean and spacious overlooking the lake. Learned allot without being lectured at or bored to death! I'm sure the buck Creek experience will only improve with time. So, If you are looking for a dip this is definitely the way to go. Did I mention it was also cheaper than almost all the other programs in the area.... They had my completion paper work turned in to my court/attorney before I got back home! Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Sam White
Nice place to camp. It's quiet and surprisingly remote (considering it's close proximity to Springfield). The only downside is that it's an old park and most things are outdated. Still a great place for a camping trip for both primitive and glamorous campers.
Matthew Atha
The beach is rocky, but the water is cool. It was crowded, but hey it is summer.
tonya brown
Bathroom are up dated... bit men's bathroom needs attention.. ppl leave soiled pants near men's toilet
Don Bryant
This was the 40th anniversary of my first trip to BUCK CREEK and my 21st consecutive stay. It is now the official site of our Annual Family Reunion and Family Holiday. The cabins are well maintained and the park offers an opportunity to experience nature and still be close to civilization.
Harold Malaby
We'll kept but unhappy with the site said to be partial shade not any chance since no trees close. After driving up from Cincinnati we had to move to a better site and cancel the second and third day. Park said take it up with Reserve America and the online said take it up with the park. Miss the good old days of dealing with local management and good customer service. Outsourcing is not always the best answer.
jt roberts
Convenient to Interstate 70. One of my favorite Ohio State park campgrounds. Nice sites with some room to spread out some with water views. Bike and walking paths. Boating and fishing (It's a big reservoir). Go check out the Frank Lloyd Wright house in Springfield. There's also a great museum covering the area history.
Fernando Ortiz
Went out there at about 6pm. Saw 2 deer, a racoon, couple of rabbits. That was driving not walking the trails. The park has cabins, camping, a lake, nice boat ramps, a beach, marina that has food and drinks, picnic tables and grills. I will go back again.
Mark Summers
Updated cabins are very nice..
Kelly Glass
Highly recommend the campground area we were able to put a tent up in the electric area we were straight across from the restrooms that were very clean. We have stayed in the cabins as well they are newly renovated and better than a motel.
Jay Conley
Beautiful especially during fall
Eric Armstrong
Love taking the kids there to let them run off some energy. Plus the wildlife there is absolutely amazing.
k thompson
I know the odnr officers some of the nicest people you ever want to meet. I paid the camper because I needed a secure place to park at night. I've been trying to run a cabin but I see that they have a different site for that
Adam Baldwin
Played the disc golf course. Well maintained and challenging
Teresa Jessop
was a great experience my kids loved it except that the first night we had no other campers around the 2nd night it stormed which i liked. the 3rd night i had a group of 10+ people, a few sites down that was running threw my camp even after being asked after 11pm at night telling and screaming. my kids are 4 and 2 and were pretty calm as they were tired from our daily activities...i will come back as its convienent as well as great location to camp. rude disruptive disrespectful adults in kids will cause us not to but we love to camp
Victoria Taylor
Hiking at Parrie Park at the dam...great experience 👍 …
Mary Williams
I love visiting the State Park! It's serene and calming! We have a wonderful resource for enjoying the outdoors! And it's almost in bloom.
Cassandra Mendoza
Although it lacks the appeal of a naturally occurring lake it is a perfect place for a family day trip to a lake. Has a dog friendly section, outside rinsing shower for the sand, and is big enough to enjoy most activities.
Adam Gulczynski
Very nice camp hosts. Really well kept sites with lots of grass. The Friday/Saturday movie nights and ice cream are a nice addition.
emmanuel raymond
Very cool place. You can fishing too
Ashley Miranda
Great place for the whole family to enjoy. Loved going fishing here and viewing the scenery. Only issue was the beach. It was covered in litter and very uncomfortable to swim in because of sharp rocks on the bottom.
Peggy Johnson
Its getting better every time we visit. Nice and clean. The Crabil( spelling)was interesting. Can't wait for the special weekend activity's .
Justin Hovan
Park and waters we're very clean, everyone swimming at the time seems to really be enjoying themselves, faimly atmosphere, cookouts happening, kids playing, swimming, it's a good time, bring the family
lester howard
Clean, water should be raised sooner for crappie season, but great season last year
Danita Brunk
We had a great time here! One major problem.....we we're close to the shower houses and the sewer must have been close by because that's all we smelled!! Not real pleasant! But they had alot of things to do right on the camp site....swim, boat, ski, fish, volleyball, soccer, hiking, trails, ect. We enjoyed seeing the deer that we're along side the road and didn't even move when we appoached them!
Nate Ludy
Beach is massive, water quality isnt the greatest but the park is absolutely massive. Tons of wildlife, cabins looked really cool and tucked away
Jessica
It's really pretty, however, the smell of the water keeps me away alot. Idk what is going on but it didnt used to stink like that. There is nice playgrounds and places to have picnics, boat docks, trails galore, and the land is pretty well kept up.
Charlie Workman
I have visited this place numerous times over the last forty odd years and certain areas have given me different sensations! Serenity, excitement, wonder, sorrow and many more! It has many activities available! Fishing, boating, camping, swimming, bicycling, picnicking, hunting and many more!
Josh McKeever
If your going for the unlimited horsepower lake, go for it! I was just there camping, restrooms and shower houses aren't very clean (even for a campground), the Lakeview trail was nice until it jogged and was not clearly marked to show you where to go. Not many other trail options near the campground. It did have a nice disc golf course.
Emma
Went yesterday and it was very nice! Water was WAY too cold for me to swim in but other than that a very great time
Brent Ross
The reservoir is really nice.
The campground is decent, but small.
One neighbor was particularly loud, dogs, arguing, cutting wood. The ranger came and talked to them, but nothing was accomplished.
paul Hypes
Not a bad place. See a lot of wildlife. Even has a couple of campsites sort of in the woods. A private camper beach. Even has cabins .Would like more trails to hike. Great weekend get away.
Elaina
Amazing wasn't super busy. A family on a boat was riding by to make waves for the kids. Made their days! Was an amazing family day!
Cinda Rutter
Beautiful large disc golf course, camping, and lots of fun to be had! We love to bring our dog out to the disc golf course and have him have fun while we play, we all love it.

Brian Perkins
What a great park! My family enjoyed their stay. The cabins where well worth the cost. Our group enjoyed the beach, barbecue at the pavilion and a bonfire at night. The shop was also a plus.
Charity's Ghost
The people here in Ohio think it's a beach, but that's ok. This is a great park, but please don't go above 25 miles an hour, because the Park Rangers are convinced that there are great amounts of animals in the area that are focused on dashing in front of our cars and causing deadly crashes.
Jitendra Pandey
Nice ⛱️ clean camping area beautiful for pictures
Bud Slife
Nice cabins. Some cosmetic blemishes (holes in screened in porch screens). Windows needed cleaning, bathroom floor discolored probably from water damage. Staff very nice, price reasonable, good boat ramps.
Shawna Smith
First time here....it was nice and calm with the sunset
Christiaan
Nice park - right on the lake and has plenty of walking trails and a pretty walk up on the reservoir wall that is about 0.6 miles long and does overlook the lake the entire walk. They do have camping as well.
Stephen Wiseman
I'm all about supporting the local parts that is where I grew up playing and that's where I want my kids to grow up playing outside not trapped in front of ATV screen or phone screen there are play areas there are learning areas there are fishing areas swimming nereids all cards of activities to do camping You should be able to do a little bit of everything even just hiking if you would like
Stone Nickerson
I love the disc golf course here, very well maintained and had great alternate pads and hole locations so you can walk in on a completely different course from time to time making it more challenging, also has great fishing and camping spots, fun for the whole family!
Adam Wilson
It's a great little park only downfall was bathroom locked. Kind of trashed but all fairness it is a busy place and a lot of people contribute to the mess they leave behind.
Rod Beninghaus
Warmer temps on this day. We decided to spring for a little picnic at Buck Creek. We used the only picnic table in the area and not many folks about.
Just a splendid time.
Jessica Glancy
Great place to walk, run or bike. Lots of picnic tables and benches to use. Open spaces for sports.
Beth Miller
We use the bridal trails. Although there had been recent rain these were the best trails in the area to wide with minimal mud issues
Ryan Husted
This was such a pretty park. It has some great trails and an even better lake. Lots of lake view trails. I liked the Marina. It had a cute restaurant attached that overlooked the lake.
Patti Miller
Lovely place for a walk in the woods. The Crabill house is very interesting, and the boating areas are nice. Check out the overflow area at various times of the year! - lots of changes!
Jeff Winkle
This is a beautiful place. I love going out for walks with nature. I mostly play basketball out there because I like the feeling. It feels like I'M in the middle of no where at peace just playing some hoops.
eric treadway
Loved the area and fishing was good. Can't wait to do some night fishing.
Kristen Leigh Ray
It's a beautiful park. The water is murky, but that's how dams are. Fun place for kayaking, disc golf, and walking.
Jonathan H
Awesome disc golf course, I love that it has so much variety. Went when it was really windy this passed weekend but still had a great time!
Michelle E.
I hadn't been to the park since 2018 and at that time the marina restaurant was not open-it was awaiting new ownership. I was glad to see that it is now open and the service and the burgers were as good as the previous owner's so I was happy!

A very scenic and out of state vibe to this park, the disc golf course is a very technical/wooded layout.

Alway been a great place for us from boating, fishing, swimming and now riding our bike always a pleasure. Seen alot of wildlife on our first motorcycle ride through the park.
Vince Shular
Camp sites spread out! No AC in bath houses, paved level sites, most are only 30 feet deep, some less...Not for large RV's. Quiet, large lake! We will come back!
Vickie Harrold
Enjoying a relaxing stay in the campground. Quiet and we'll maintained. Lake is beautiful!!
There is shopping just a couple of miles outside the park. Bicycle rentals at the camp store. Showers are nice and clean. Laundry facilities are available. They haveovies outdoors on a big screen on Friday and Saturday night. But the cinema is also close by. The only thing I didn't care for is their rv dump station. It's ok just a bit corky.
Mary Rose
Beautiful grounds. Woods for hiking. Lake for boating and fishing. RV and campsites. Can't for the cabins with play area and view if the lake.

No doubt about this place. I love it. Of course the smell isn't good, but we are in the animals territory. Other then the smell, the place is beautiful, clean bathrooms, and the workers are friendly.
Wander Random
We made only a brief visit at the time, but it certainly is a place I would enjoy visiting longer. Plenty areas for play, hiking, walking, as well as water activities. Beautiful grounds!
Aldo A. Ramos-Ovando
Everything was great and experience was fun except for the bathrooms. Very disgusting. If the State of Ohio owns these parks, they should keep up with the parks and bathrooms.
Carla Schutte
Wonderful place for a variety of outdoor activities. Beautiful views all around the lake. My favorite place to walk and meditate. My husband and I love camping here.
Jason Tobal

Jessica Stone
Stayed in the cabins for a family reunion. The cabins are very nice and the area is beautiful. Wish the weather was nicer so we could do the walking trails.

Speed boats making wakes and having fun in the summer. Fishing isn't so much fun in a small 14ft Jon boat when Riding those wakes. At least the place is pretty well maintained.
Suzanne Steiner
Beautiful park. Hardly anyone was there. We had a great time.
Jami Pereira
It's ok. I prefer walking in the woods but if you like a lot paths that are paved then it's great for that. Always a lot of dogs there which is nice.
Brice Pinkowski
Great spot for a weekend visit to the lake.
Megan McConaha
Very nice place and well kept, but the bathrooms by the campsites are really gross. There are only two facilities, so I recommend adding one more. I go here twice during the summer.

Bath houses are clean but could use more of them and need updating. Entrance signs are confusing. Primitive sites are too close to the RV sites. This is a beautiful clean park!

Just the closest beach to me. After the night and day after the tornados I had to flee Montgomery county. Always a nice spot to chill. Also an awesome hippie golf spot as well.
River Marlowe
It's huge, no speed limit for boats. Which leaves fishing off bank hard. But other than that it's a very nice park/ lake.
