Reviews of Sesquicentennial State Park
This park has a nice campground. Only 9 sites are full hookup though. They have a great trail for running. It's a loop through the woods. About 3.5 miles long. Good surface and mostly shaded. And you can easily add running to & from campsite to get 5 miles -- or obviously whatever distance you want if you keep running around the loop. Nice lake with ducks & kayak & SUP rentals.
This park was truly beautiful and we didn't even walk the entire thing. The water was very pretty to look at and we almost rented a paddle boat but it was a little chilly. The waterfalls we saw were so nice to just sit and listen to. It was very peaceful and not crowded. Parking was ample however it was a little annoying that we had to pay to get in. The only thing missing was definitely more swings to sit in to look at the water. There was only one and a lady was sitting in it for over the hour that we were there. Will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone visiting. Our first park visit was Finlay park so needless to say, the bar was almost non-existent when it came to finding a nice park, but we were very pleased with our visit.
I recently moved to Columbia with for my job. Today was an absolutely gorgeous day to explore the park with my dog. The park staff was wonderful and welcoming. You can tell they are passionate about the park. The park itself is lovely and very well maintained. Xena and I enjoyed a nice 6 mile hike. This will be a regular spot for us to decompress and spend time together. I love that the dog park has a fee and REQUIRES shot records and photo IDs for the dogs to keep everyone safe and healthy.
We walked the trail around the lake, it’s beautiful! I love all the big trees and the bridges over part of the lake as well as over streams/creeks! The history info sign by the spillway was very interesting too!
If you have any mobility issues, the trail around the lake is mostly accessible but there are a lot of tree roots poking up in the trail, they have mostly been marked red which helps people spot them.
The smell of pine trees fills the whole park. Nice trails that are well kept as well as nature trails. The lake looks like it might be fun for kayaking or paddle boating. Nice little store at the park office. It was $6 to enter.
Even snow couldn't keep us from having a great time! Great State Park in the middle of the state. Easy access to shopping and attractions, just off the interstate. Turn off Two-Notch and experience a wilderness setting in the heart of Columbia. Walking trails, paddle boats and amazing Rangers await!
Sesquicentennial is a nice park with a featured lake and easy trails. Its set up nicely for family activities and was quite busy on a sunny warm day in January. First thing I noticed was the smell of a pine forest. We took the guided first day hike on the trail looping around the lake. It’s flat and easy about 2 miles. There is a longer cycling loop which I believe is pretty sandy in parts. There are a variety of boats to use on the lake and a nostalgic boat house.
Also a dog park on the way into the park. Nicely set for urban folks living around the park and outside visitors.
We came to this beautiful park for a quick family break and we were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it was. It was the perfect place for an escape from the rest of the world. Restrooms are plentiful and everything is well maintained and clean. Picnic structures are gorgeous and the cabins at the park made me want to come back to visit sometime soon.
Sesqui is a nice urban oasis that is large enough and sequestered enough that you really do feel like you have left the city. During our 4 day stay I never once heard a siren or traffic noise.
The park itself is nice with several cool features. The splash water park was closed while we were there unfortunately due to a lightning strike but it would have been a terrific way to cool off for the kids. There is a nice playground area and plenty of open space for kids to run around and play. The lake is small but large enough to enjoy kayak and boat rentals, both of which are very reasonably priced. The park store has a decent selection of items. If you collect Park stickers this store has the largest variety of options that we've ever seen with some very unique designs. The trails are nice and easily navigable. A gentle lake trail is shorter and easy to take whereas a longer sand trail takes you more into the woods. Both are a combination of paved, dirt and sand. There is also a sand bike trail that appeared to be used quite often. The Campsites are decent. They aren't huge but not right on top of each other either.
The public shower houses were OK for restroom facilities but the showers need some updates. The shower head felt like needles shooting into your skin and the temp control was hot to left, cold to the right and off straight up so you had to choose hot or cold.
One interesting item is a public telephone booth (non operational) in the Campground. It made for a funny explanation to the kids as to what it was.
All in all Sesqui is a great parkin the middle of the city to help you get away for a while without having to drive a far way.
Great waking, birding areas. Campground is rustic. Some of the full hookups sites need work as they are not level and narrow. Tent sites seem to be good. Our picnic table was on a steep incline and not usable. Be careful when selecting sites. Rest of the park is great.
Several trails to walk, lots of picnic spots, paddleboats and more to rent! Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. Pet-friendly if on leash. There's something for everyone here, whether its a playground, camping, hiking, fishing, biking, kayaking or just sitting out on a bench with a book.
Awesome state park. Plenty to do: camping, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking/canoeing/paddle boating. Nice picnic shelters and restroom facilities. A jewel in the middle of Columbia. If you tent camp, you will hear traffic and sirens all night.
Very nice BIG park right outside of the city limits. Clean bathrooms. Lots of picnic area. Dog friendly. Lakes. I’d recommend it!
I love this state park. There are so many fun things to do here. The splash pad, awesome trails, boat rentals, and a great store to buy state park merch.
My only wish is that they update the campsites. They are well loved and in need of leveling and new gravel.
Beautiful park, well maintained. It has different terrain, some paths have gravel, sand and dirt. It is dog friendly, you can kayak and fish.
You cannot swim here, this is something the park does not allow, in consideration for your safety.
It also has playgrounds for children and picnic tables, restrooms that are maintained.
The walking paths are nice and wide.
We recently camped here and the park itself is centrally located to Columbia with lots of things to do. The campground is within walking distance to everything the park itself has to offer. Reasonably priced sites, friendly host, clean bathhouse and overall clean park.
I gave this park a 3 because I was extremely put off by the lack of assistance the park ranger gave to a family when he approached his vehicle with his son and a man was rummaging through their vehicle. It was a scary situation and the lack of immediate response from the park ranger was disappointing. The only response was the family could call Richland County police to file a report.
We’re undecided whether or not we’d return to the park due to the situation.
Here mainly for day hiking and Ultimate Outsiders Stamp on my book. Nice sandy trails and in some parts paved. Great walk around the lake. Very clean. Maps are only suggestions as the trails seem to be slightly different. Will def return.
Sesqui is a great park. There are two nice playgrounds, picnic pads, restrooms, seasonal splash pad and a park store. There are several geocaches along the lake trail. There is a sidewalk around a portion of the lake allowing for accessibility to some beautiful views. We have the SC State Park pass so we can visit often without having to pay the per person entry fee every time.
Very nice park. Camped here. Peaceful and quiet. Clean showers, great walking trails,, beautiful water fall, paddle boat rental available and park for kids. Felt comfortable. Would return.
I haven't been to this park in over eight years. I forgot what I was missing. They've added a splash pad. It's so clean and peaceful at 7 in the morning.
I will be added this park back to my list of outdoor trails and tracks.
The staff and park are a gem in Columbia. I swam here as a child. Now enjoying fishing with my grandson. Fishing poles for loan are available. Some campsites have full hook-ups, however 30amp and water is the norm. There is a dump station.
Beautiful state park, beautiful campground, lots of trails to walk and beautiful lake to sit beside.
Best part of the campground is all all of the shade
This is still a wonderful park. It's been around a long time. It's has a great walking & biking trail. The river is really cool. Great for canoeing, They have different types of paddle boats. A new splash area for the kids. Picnic tables areas, large and small and more. You should check it out.
This was one of the few highlights in Columbia that I hadn't seen, so I made sure to visit on my last visit. The park itself was fine- a few interesting features, but otherwise more of a local space to bring kids and walk around. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but it's fine for an afternoon or an organized event like a picnic.
Loved walking the trails in the park. We went early in the morning and it was perfect for us and our dog. We plan to bring a picnic next time.
You have to paid to get into the park or you can buy a year pass, but it’s very nice park. Their not a lot of people there and the do have a spash pad there but is does not have much shade or chairs to sit.
They have a dog park, boat rentals, splash pad, walking trails, and biking trails. I love taking my dogs there on the walking trails. Trails are well-maintained.
Small shallow water....but they rent paddleboards. We found other fun things to do. Not into the splash area...but little kids are!
Beautiful park worth going to see, multiple trails for walking and biking. Playground equipment for the kids, and picnic areas to sit down and enjoy some food.
Beautiful spot in the middle of the city. Wish the interstate sounds did not seek though. Wish we had time to hike the trails, looked really nice
Beautiful place. It offers almost everything. Camping, hiking, mini store for things like ice or cups, kayaking rentals, etc.
Love the sound of waterfall. Nice trails. Great weather. Definitely going to go more often.
A beautiful park to hike and enjoy an outing with friends/family.
Beautiful State Park just outside Columbia, S. C. Great spacious RV and tent sites. Nice hiking trails (1/2, 2 & 3.5 miles). Very clean and we'll maintained bathrooms. Boat rentals, lakefront play area for the kids. Flat & easy 2-mile trail around the lake.
Great playgrounds for younger and older kiddos. Beautiful and serene, does seem to be a but popular and I imagine in the summer it gets busy. There is a lake with canoes available in season. Dam and creek running through with boardwalks. Dogs leashed allowed. Plenty of space to run around for the whole family. Volleyball net. Very clean bathrooms, surprised by how nice they are. Lots of picnic tables and lots of shade for blanket picnics. Only downside was the price to enter which I thought was a bit high but considering it's a state park, I can justify cost...or do yourself a favor and get the annual state park pass. Will come back to this one!
They have done a lot of renovations over the past few years and it is nice. The splash pad is great for the kids and I love walking the trails around the lake. However, I don't go as often as I'd like because it is crowded and expensive to get in ($5 or 6 per adult, not per car. Can't remember price for kids).
In town with lots of shopping near but campground is very quiet. Nice trails. Some full hookup sites in loop A but sites lack privacy, loop B has only electric and water sites but has a more rustic woodsy feel. Several sites in both loops are unlevel although site detail on website reports that they are level. Sites #71 and #73 are not level as reported.
Tick warning!! This is a great park with just such lovely trails and a nice campground and splash Park. One issue is that there are ticks everywhere. We camped there and I pick them off my dog daily. Still give it a five-star rating because it's a great park but just be aware of the ticks and keep your dogs away from shrubbery and stick to the middle of the trails.
One of the best state parks I've been to. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Great place for all ages. Feed the ducks, gets some exercise, enjoy nature, fish, great playground and splash pad. Haven't tried camping here yet, but excited to try them out
Great park for all, I even took my Dog zoos out on a paddle boat around the lake great time
Very very nice state park. clean and the water park is the best for my grandkids
Great way to reset in nature. There are restrooms, playgrounds, picnic tables, areas for grilling, RV parking/hookup sites, and a lovely lake. There's a small admission fee, but it's worth it. Awesome walking trails and a dog park too
Beautiful area, 2 play grounds, multiple pavilions, and plenty of benches to rest on the trails.
Sesquicentennial State Park is one of the wonderful, family-friendly park. My family and I are extremely adventurous and we love to be outdoors. There's a great of plants, trees as well as friendly wild life in this natural Park. We go for annual membership and utilizes the benefits year around.
Definitely nicer than i had anticipated, glad she made me come lol. It was relaxing and we enjoyed $5 (each) paddle boating around the pond after eating our lunch at the picnic table.
Beautiful trails surrounding a lake with a small store and places for the kids to play.
Absolutely beautiful! We really enjoyed our walk around the lake and then had lunch at a picnic table beside it. It was a little bit long of a walk for my 4 year old and 6 year old so bring a wagon or stroller if you have kids but would definitely recommend seeing!
Great get away for the family. Check their website for prices, but $16 dollars for my family of 4 to go in. The lake looked great.
There are row boats, canoes and paddle boats. Bbq stands and picnic table surround the area. We hiked the 2 miles path around the lake, but there is another path much longer for biking. There are people walking the path every so often. Very glad we found it and hoping it will not be packed with people the next time we go. The serene environment is maintained by the small entry fee.
Will be going back with the family.
We really enjoyed our time at Sesquicentennial Park. The park was clean, and the pricing was reasonable.
Park entry fee is:
$6.00 for adults
$3.25 for children.
Equipment Rental was:
Canoes or Kayaks $5 an hour
Paddle boats $10
Life Jackets were available at no cost.
This is a great place for a family outting.
Well kept, very few campers and tents
Awesome State Park!! They're always working to keep the trails clear. Park rangers are friendly. You do need to either pay at the gate or have a yearly pass to enter.
Sesquicentennial is a beautiful park. I took my three kids for an afternoon (ages 8, 5, and 4). We printed off the scavenger hunt sheet available on their website and did the nature trail that starts just after a quick walk along the lake. It was perfect for their age, included both boardwalk/marsh and forest. There are many pavilions and on this particular Saturday in August they were ALL full. Lots of parties, family reunions, etc. Even most of the uncovered picnic tables were being used. Still, the park did not feel crowded and there was plenty of parking. There were multiple playgrounds, all in good condition, and the splash pad was fun. My only complaint is that the splash pad really could use some more shade. There is a small triangle cover that offered no shade for the time of day that we were there, and one umbrella. Besides that, we had a great day!
Awesome park wonderful relaxing space
Very beautiful park with walking trails that allow you to see the entire lake, hiking trails that take you through the wooded areas, canoeing, paddle boats, picnic areas, playgrounds. This is truly a great park for family fun. Thank you SC for having such Beautiful places.
This was a lovely park to stay at. We went during the middle of March, still a little chilly but we were able to enjoy ourselves. We went camping with our 40 ft. 5th wheel. Here are some key takeaways:
- The Passport Stamp is located right outside the main store.
- The dirt road around the camping area is very narrow lined with trees. We were able to get through with no problem but it was very tight.
- There are plenty of spaces for tents, cars, RV, trailers or any other way you like to camp.
- We stayed at campsite #47, it was good but had a few tricks to make it work. The main problem we had was when we were leaving. There was a stump in the way when trying to hook our camper back up. As long as you miss the stump you should be good. This site was on the right side of the road so we had lots of space to move around which made it very nice with the company we had. The site was moderately level so we didn't have to do too much leveling.
- There's two separate playgrounds, one for older kids and one for younger kids. There is also a water play area that opens during the warm months.
- Several shelters available to host a party, I believe they can be reserved online through their website.
- There are several walking trails including a bicking trail that is 6 miles long.
- You can go fishing here, they have a large lake that you can take a small boat out on. You will need to have you fishing license. The park itself does not sale bait, you will have to go up to the closest Walmart or other stores to get it.
- There is a small man made waterfall, if you will, by the lake.
- They have a nice store to visit to get souvenirs, essential items and more. They do sell firewood within the store, about $11 a bundle, they do have ice for sale, the machine is right outside the store. They have shirts for adults and kids, mugs, utensils to cook over a fire, candy, ice cream and more is available for purchase.
- There are several drink machines around the park, a soda and Gatorade drink machine.
- Walmart is close by to grab any essential items need for the trip that the park store doesn't offer.
- There is a dumping station and dumpsters you can visit before leaving the park if needed.
- They do have multiple bathrooms around the park. Withing the camping area they have your typical bathroom/individual showering area.
- Dogs are more than welcome to enjoy the park as well, they will just have to be on a leash while visiting. I didn't see any doggie bags around the park so be sure to bring them.
- There is a large field to play around in as well.
Overall this was a wonderful park to stay at over night or just come hangout during the day.
Stunning park with super friendly staff. Gorgeous hiking trails, pedal board rental (and more), wonderful gear and even beautiful jewelry bu local artist Valerie Lamott Desogns
Great local park! Clean and peaceful with lots of wildlife inside the park. The playground and splash pad is a plus. Lots of tall trees to provide shade during the summer.
The pond is nice, especially with the available rentals. However, shallow making it difficult to catch fish.
Staff were friendly and very helpful, offered me critical information for my visit.
Very family and kids friendly. People usually walk or jog in the park.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quick getaway or relaxation. You will quick forget that you’re actually right in the middle of Columbia. SC needs to develop this into a “Central Park”. You heard it here first! 😀
Beautiful State Park on the outskirts of Columbia, SC. Miles of trails to hike, a lake with kayak and paddle board rentals and fishing. If you have dogs, there's a nice fenced in 2 acre dog park. If you decide you want to use it though, have your dog and up to date shot records with you that also indicate your dog has been spayed or neutered. Also a fantastic campground! We enjoyed our stay there.
Nice park. Didn’t appreciate being charged to enter when there wasn’t a working or open bathroom facility. Other than that it was a great visit.
Love this place. Great walking trails really peaceful and relaxing. Great for families. I go as often as I can to mental recharge
Nice large park in the Columbia metro area. It has a medium size lake for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing and has several nice trails, (some concrete, some natural.)
We stayed in site 19. The site was perfect for our teardrop setup. It is close to the bathhouse and the site was almost perfectly level.
The bathhouse was clean, but is showing it’s age. Only one shower and 2 stalls. However due to COVID-19, it was limited to one person at a time.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The only negative was the lack of campground etiquette of some of the other campers. Some would cut through occupied sites instead of walking down the road to the restrooms.
The campsites in Loop 1 seem to be a lot more level and spread out than Loop 2.
We had 2-3 bars on Verizon.
State Park. We visited three years ago and my how (some) things have changed! Still a great Park, but lots better parking set up and a wonderful staff of rangers and clerks. Love, love, love the kayak ride prices!
Favorite place in northeast Columbia. Family friendly and just so peaceful.
Great park for families! We love walking the trail and then playing on the playgrounds at the end of our walk. It is a beautiful park! It is also jogging stroller friendly.
Great little park with nice trails and a lake for canoeing, kayaks, and pedal boats. Looks like it might be good for fishing too. Bike trails and playgrounds too. Good place to bring your dog for walks.
Only $5 to visit and the scenery when I went in December was beautiful. The trail was very doable for those who might not hike often.
We camped 🏕 here with our 2 pups. Loved that there was a dog park (but make sure to have all your paperwork beforehand).
The trails were shaded and park very well maintained. The Ranger brought us firewood and was extremely helpful with any questions we had.
Overall, would recommend!
Nice 2 mile trail to exercise and run on around the lake. The splash pad is great for letting your little ones cool down.
We loved canoeing here! Rentals $5/hour as of April 2022. In our opinion, this was a much better experience than Congaree NP!!!
3 playgrounds, lots of trails through the woods, canoe/kayak/paddle board rentals. Nice place to escape to in the city.
Great prices on canoe, kayak, paddle board, and pedal boat rental. Personally, I wouldn't rent for more than an hour. The lake is fun to row around but gets dull after visiting each corner. My kids also enjoyed the splash park. Unfortunately, seating and a shaded area was hard to come by. All together it was a fun morning and we would return.
Great day! The splash pad is perfect this summer with a small fenced in area and consistent sprayers. Bring your own chair and shade. The park itself is very clean and well maintained. The walking trails are a beautiful escape into nature. The pond provides a cool breeze around the shaded playground.
Perfect for a day trip with my toddler daughters! Decent sized fenced in splash pad area with very clean bathrooms. Cute gift shop! Beautiful lake with paddle boats & kayaks. We actually saw a deer family playing across the lake (: Playgrounds. Not to mention all the tall beautiful trees. Would LOVE to try the nature trails next time! Beautiful day in nature forsure!
Great camping here! Super quiet, tucked away from the rest of the park. Close enough to the lake and the splash pad for fun but far enough for privacy. Close to everything in Columbia. The spots were nicely spaced apart, had beautiful lines surrounding them and had water and electric hookups. The only improvement I can suggest is the bathrooms could use a little updating.
Quiet, clean and well maintained. Good mix of pull through and back in sites. Bathrooms were very clean but aging. Although it's very close to the city it feels a world away. Would stay again.
A very clean park! At first we weren't sure it would be big because of what it looked like on the map, but we were pleasantly surprised! There's ample pavillion space some clean bathrooms! There's are a lot of trails (paved and unpaved) to explore and 2 different playgrounds for kids to enjoy. There's also a big field good for football or soccer. And during the summer the splash pad is a hit! There's also some canoes and paddle boats to use on the lake (I don't recommend swimming in the lake). The staff were nice and makes sure trash is properly disposed of. Overall an AWESOME family place to go to!!
Nice trails, it has a store for camping supplies and souvenirs that comes very handy.
Great park for camping and exploring. Lots of great trails!
Beautiful place with wide open spaces and some nice trails. I would have given it 5 stars all the way but the traffic noise all night kind of killed it.
The splash pad was small but uncrowded. Plenty of places to sit in the sun inside the gates. There's a large field with trees outside the gates if you want shade. Parks to play before or after the splash pad are just across the street. Beautiful place.
Sesqui is such a beautiful state park! We had a great day walking the trails with our dog.
Any place that I may walk and enjoy nature without all the loud noises of traffic and such, rates very high in my book. God graced us with such beauty and we all should take time to enjoy it leaving your worries for him to sort out.
I recently moved to SC. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful place to visit & take peaceful walks, and enjoy some time in the beauty of nature! It made this beautiful day much more enjoyable for me! I highly recommend a visit to this park anytime! A PERFECT get away to the busy paces of life.
Great park for the day or overnight. They are currently refreshing a lot of the campsites with new dirt and gravel.
I believe it's $10 to get per person for adults and kids of a certain age can go in for free. Nice quiet and peaceful park. If you take a trail their are some educational informative stands in certain locations of the trail where you can see what it looks like or where it is. You can bike or hike there, I don't recall for camping. But it's a nice quiet peaceful park.
This park is a great place for family fun and relaxation. It offers a beautiful lake with boat rentals, trails for hiking, playgrounds and picnic shelters. There's also campgrounds, biking trails and dog walking areas. There's beautiful scenery for outdoor excitement. I love to come here to unwind and spend quality time with my kids.
Great little state park right off main road. Campsites, walking and biking trails. Day use of picnic tables / playground.
I LOVE IT! ❤ It's great place to take a break and relax if you like quietness, all those pine trees and the lake will make you feel in a movie. Is it the first time you visit the USA? You definitely have to come here... get a water bottle and take a walk around alone or your partner. The cost is just 5$ Adults and 3$ children. There are a lot of things to do, you can check the web site.
This place is a great place to visit lots of fun activities like pattle boating and canoeing mixed with some fishing and camping plus the best part hiking
The park is very nice and there is a lake. I rented a kayak. It is a wonderful place with your family or friends.
Stopped in route and it's great during the week for a simple campground.
Bathroo,s are clean, nice unpaved spot, but not very level.
Stayed in my root top tent, road is barely audible
This park is beautiful and has a lot of activities like canoeing, paddle boats fishing. The place is awesome and when I'm in the area again I definitely will visit
Great place for camping. The prices are reasonable and the facilities are clean. There is a park ranger thst checks the site periodically, so that's great for security.
it's kind of like transporting yourself to another place entirely. once you enter the park you forget you just turned off two notch. splash pad, nice park, boating rentals and fishing. amazing place to be!
Beautiful Park lots to do and see. Fishing boat rentals trails to walk and playgrounds for the kids. The restrooms could be cleaner and updated a bit.
What a gem, paddle boats, kayaks, canoes for rent, a lovely 2.6 easy mile walk around the lake, lots of picnic area
Me and my family enjoyed this state park. It has great trials, fishing spots, playground areas, places for family gatherings and natural features.
Absolutely amazing! Such nice views. Highly recommend going if you haven't.
Beautiful campground, great trails for hiking and biking. Fairly wooded for shade. Rangers were friendly and helpful.
I've been living in the Retreat Center for three weeks as part of an Archaeological field school.
Sesqui is a lovely little park, and I enjoy it a lot. The only reason why I'm rating it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the trails aren't super well marked, and the maps don't show where you are when you look at them. It's not a big deal for me, because not all those who wander are lost... but definitely some of those who wander are, in fact, lost.
This park has a nature trail, lake with boat rental, splash pad, two playgrounds several cookout areas a cute little souvenir shop and a bike trail
Such an amazing place! Got to do the 2 mile route around the lake with my nephew and we loved it!
Great place for engagement and wedding photos. Lots of people go here but they're all really polite and will let you get all the great shots you need. Plenty of walking trails and you can fish and kayak in the large pond. This is a great place to spend any day with those you love!
This is a very nice park to run in... several trails ranging from older lover a mile to 7 or 8 miles. unfortunately, they expect you to pay $5 for a tax funded state park which is laughable. All in all it is a nice wooded area with a massive Lake with geese, ducks, and plenty of Stands selling off over priced wares...
Great place to get away and relax and still have money for groceries at the end of the week. There are plenty of nice parking spots with several restrooms throughout the park, water jets for the kids, beautiful trails around the lake.
Had a great time. Fun time canoeing beautiful lake. Campground was clean. Gift store has a great selection of gifts and everything you need for camping. They even helped an injured turtle get a hook out of his mouth. We saw a 🦌 deer which I love. Definitely will be back. …
Best place ever! I love riding my bike on the trail, there were a lot of dogs which was pretty cool too since I got to pet most of them
Friendly, peaceful, trails for long walks or bike rides and tall 100+ ft pines I'd like to climb.
I love this place. You can get over 30 channels with your digital antenna and close to everything in Columbia. Besides that it is a beautiful place. Do be prepared to level out you campers. Sites are not real level.
They've done a lot of work over the years to make this park into a great place to go and walk, fish, or host an event (birthday party or reunion). The trails are well maintained and the area is kept free of trash. The picnic shelters are nice and secluded and perfect for get togethers of a decent size. Great atmosphere and friendly workers.
Awesome outdoor experience one of our places to go and get away we cycle go boating nature walks and grill and chill afterwards excellent park staff rangers keep things orderly fun and safe for all park is always clean and staff is very knowledgeable off all activities u can do with family and friends
Got here too late in the day too anything more than have a picnic dinner by the lake but I’d like to go back & walk around more. I loved how still the water was in the evening.
Beautiful natural area. You wouldn't know you were surrounded by strip malls and neighborhoods. Great place to enjoy nature without having to drive far.
We loved this place!! The Camp Host, Mr. Rusty is so awesome!! Extremely nice and definitely takes pride in his job and the park, he goes out of his way to help others and makes certain people have all that they need upon and after and during arrival and gives great tips and just an all-around great person!! Asa helped with camping arrangements. He was also great!! This Park had a lot to offer and enjoyed our stay!! If anyone happens to go there, be sure to stop and meet Mr. Rusty!! I didn't get the opportunity to meet the other camp host, but Mr. Rusty was on top of everything!! If we happen to have to back to that area, this is the Park and campground for us, mainly because of the people we had the pleasure of meeting!! They also have a beautiful gift shop and lots of things to see and trails to walk. If you like State Park camping, this one is it.
Thank you for such a great visit Mr. Rusty and Asa!!!👍🌟👍🌟👍🌟
We stayed on site #63 with a tent. Was very nice no ants and no animals.
Great Park paddle boats kayaks great playgouds can bbq
This is a South Carolina state park near downtown. Nine of the sites have FHU. The rest of the sites only have electric and water hookups, but a dump is located near the campground entrance. Most sites are not level so you will need to use footers. Although old, the bath houses are clean. The campground is filled with many trees. More lighting in the campground is needed at night.
The state park has a new splash pad that is popular with the youngest guests. Camping fees are higher in South Carolina State Parks than other state parks in the southeast U.S.
Fantastic park close to Columbia SC. Stayed there for a group even with Palmetto State Hangers. The rangers are super friendly and helpful. Plenty of trails, wildlife is abundant.
Lots to do for families or outdoor enthusiast. Biking, hiking, paddle boats, camping, playgrounds, dog park to name a few. I love this place.
I went kayaking with my 2 year old for the first time and had a blast. The woman at the cashier spot for boat rentals was very nice and helpful
A beautiful park. Nice trails. Very clean. Love the waterfalls.
Beautiful park and lake. Great playgrounds for the kids, plus a splash area. Trails for strolls. Camping area. Can rent canoes or pedal boats. Love their picnic areas.
Such a great getaway location for the inland residents. When the beach is too far and too expensive, this is a perfect alternative.
Nice hike with paved path. Markings were accurate. Nice lake at the end.
Lots of family get togethers on Sundays but usually not crowded and great nature watching .
Nice park with lots of family and kids friendly trail. You can do boat rides, take pictures and have a good time with your family, friends, and kids. Annual pass is great if you like to visit the park often.
Great state park for RV camping. However, the vast majority of the sites will not accommodate a vehicle with a boat trailer. Like many SC parks, everything must be on the blacktop site drive. We leave the boat at home and bring kayaks. Really nice sites, right on the water. The campground stays booked, so plan ahead.
The park is clean and quiet. There are a variety of activities available to entertain people of all ages. They have pedal boats, paddle boards, canoes, and a splash pad area. We had a great time and there are plenty of trees to shield you from direct sunlight.
We had a lot of fun at this park. My only complaint is that it was hard to find the playgrounds. We knew they had one, but once we were in the park, we just kept driving until we ran into them (there are two next to each other). There's a general store where you can get basics and life jackets, and there's a lake so you can rent paddle boats and stuff like that. The bathrooms were clean, and the trails are well maintained. We did the two mile loop, which was a bit ambitious for our six-year-old, but it wasn't terrible because it was incredibly flat terrain with no major hills. It was, I think, $6 for each of us, though my son was free because he's 5. It's worth a visit, but I would also check it out for camping because there were a lot of families there and it seemed like it was popular.
Held a Graduation Pinic for Son his friend's! Had a table near the lake under nice shade tree's! They all seem to have a Good time on the water boating! Blythewood HS 2019
Fun for the whole family, including your dog! If you are looking for a safe and natural environment for the kids and your dog, Sesqui is it. They have a new splash pad when it's hot, picnic tables and a well equipped playground and even a Bark Park. Walking trails, paddleboard and kayak rentals and charcoal grills make it the perfect spot to have a family picnic or just a relaxing 2 mile walk or bike ride. Restrooms are clean and plenty of parking. There is a fee to get in, but I like that because it helps to pay for all the great improvements and keeps the riff raff out. Go out and ENJOY!
Beautiful park. Very clean lots of things to do for the family. Splash pad water area for kids on those hot summer days. Rent canoes for trip out on the water . Hiking trail if you want to enjoy the nature
We enjoyed you very first visit here a couple of weeks ago. Very quiet and small but primitive sites for a nice weekend. Took our golf cart with us but probably won't next time due to how small. Cozy place and will go back for a quick getaway weekend
For 99.00 u can buy a season pass at the gate it includes free parking and up to 15 people per pass as long as in same vehicle so however man u people u can fit in a car can get into park free. They have beautiful nature trails that are self guided.but no problem even for a beginner to hike. There are also kayak, stand up surf boards, paddle boats, fishing boats, and canoes you can rent. You can fish here with your SC fishing license. They have places for a cook out and a playground for the kids. They also have a splash pad that opens later in the spring. They have clean restrooms camping for tents and rvs . Very peaceful place to go if you enjoy nature or looking for someplace to take the kids. If u don't want a year pass it's like 2.00 a person to get it at the gate...
This was a very pretty park in the middle of Columbia. We didn't have a lot of time to explore much but we'll definitely be back!
We got the annual pass and have no regrets as we use it constantly. The welcome agent, Steve, has made our family feel like family. Awesome atmosphere. Thanks for offering our family a wonderful place to enjoy the great outdoors.
We would have given this location Four Stars, but to our disappointment, the closest bath house to our campsite was partially out of commission and hadn't been restored to full service for awhile. The shower was not working and some other utilities needed repair. As a result, I had to go to a bathing area further away. I will say, the campsite was peaceful and the RV camping host "Rusty" and his wife, we're very polite and accommodating.
Loved the feel of this place! Great hike around the lake but watch out for ticks.
First time to visit this lovely park. Very well-kept, nice road to a big parking lot facing a pretty lake. There are trails of varying lengths. We walked along the lake to a stream with a double waterfall. Very nice!
Very nice park. Clean and sites are ok size. This park is off the main road and it is not very noisy. 30 mes of walking trails. Great park for children and to have a gathering near Lake side.
They have a free fast charger for EVs. We went there to charge our car. It worked as advertised. 😊 …
Love visiting with our kayaks. The splash pad was great for the kids!
It's a nice park with friendly park staff and park rangers. We stayed here for the weekend in our travel trailer. I recommend the Lake Trail for either walking or biking. The park is located in Columbia and therefore is near plenty of places to shop and eat.
Clean, woodsy and quiet. A little Oasis in Columbia SC. Very friendly Rangers too... And a random pay phone😃 …
Nice clean park for a afternoon picnic, or a morning hike. Has a good splash pad and a couple small playsets for kids. Haven't tried them but overnight campsites look great as well.
Nice park for walking/hiking and picnicking. The trails could have been marked more clearly. An office with a few supplies and souvenirs. Not as scenic as some of the other SC parks we visited but we had a very nice walk. Well kept. Restrooms were clean.
My girlfriend and I had a great time. We rented 2 kayaks and the office was really nice with helping us out. Definitely would have to go again to explore all of the trails.
Nice park with a trail, splash pad and lake.
Love the trail around the lake. Very peaceful. Prices have gone up. Adults $6.00, Children 6-16 $3.50, children under 5 are free.
Nice park, close to city. Make sure you get a flat site if staying in a RV.
Very nice, quiet park. Walking, biking trails, playground, and water activities.
Beautiful, crowded, lots to do. Definitely a big city park feel.
One of my favorite parks to go to. Wish it wasn't so expensive to visit. It should be a set price per car instead of person. Still a beautiful place to take your family and doggies.
This is an amazing state park. It should be considered a national park. If you live in South Carolina, this is THE state park, if you haven't been, you should go.
If you’re looking to fish here, don’t bother unless you’re looking for teeny tiny live bait to take somewhere else. Great walking trails though!
We were at the park for a geocaching event and really enjoyed ourselves. We plan to go back again.
Beautiful as always, plus they got some rangers there as pretty as the scenery! Lol
Clean. Quiet and spacious campground. Friendly and helpful staff. The Splash Pad was a hit with the Grandkids. Alot of hiking trails in this park. It's close to shopping areas for convenience.
My daughter rented a shelter for her daughter's 3rd birthday. We were not informed ahead of time that the price ($75) did not include guest admission (even her own). Also, she had no idea that balloons were not allowed. So, the bouquet of birthday balloons had to be taken back to the car. Otherwise, the visit was very pleasant and the access to all amenities was great.
Beautiful, peaceful park in Columbia, SC. I was visiting from out of state, and my host took me to this absolute gem.
It is a beautiful park, with lots of shade and a good 2 mile hike.
Great place to camp, it feels like camping in the Forrest as we had a rv with us, there was fantastic views of the lake and some cool other things that I saw while I was here such as the amount of deer that was at the campground, overall a good place to camp
Bathrooms were warm, clean, and wonderful. The cleaning crew were like clockwork! 👍 the picnic table was a bit rustic and the tent sites were very uneven and very close together. Loved the trails and waterfalls. Will go back. …
The coolest part of this park is the fire tower. It's a shame they don't have trails leading up to it.
Wonderful place to camp, Upon arrival when setting up our camper we were greeted by a very nice hostess Beth Henry (one of the best in 20 plus years camping) very friendly and helpful. The rangers there are also wonderful, very clean and lots to do I highly recommend you try it
Linda Mae Scott
BEAUTIFUL recreational park, a lot of things to do and sometimes they have music band too!!
This is a great hidden gem right and the center of Columbia. The staff here was so friendly and kind and hospitable. The park itself was lovely with plenty of hiking and well-marked trails. The campground is clean and up-to-date and the staff there is friendly as well. I would definitely stay here again next time I travel through.
The park and campground is nice and the staff leaves you alone for the most part. Customer service at the park office was so so...
Congaree National Park only offers tent camping so us RV’rs chose Sesquicentennial for electric hook-up, 20 miles to Congaree and 11 to downtown Columbus. Sites are tight, trees tough to navigate and only a handful are level. RVs should stick to Loop A; we settled well into 30.
Beautiful park. The craft fair was set up very neatly with excellent artisans. There were only hand made items and there wasn’t a food truck😃. Food vendors when present get a lot of sales and the food odors can damage some of the fine wearables. We enjoyed our day at the park. …
This park, nestled brilliantly in the city, makes one feels as if they are miles away from everything, enjoying nature at its finest. It has served our entire family for years and sure to continue to do so for many years to come.
We came to this park for a day with just me and my puppy. First of all the older man we booked with sounded like he just woke up and was really bothered by me booking online, even though it was the middle of the day. He gave me a hard time about the site I picked because I was unaware it was reserved for handicapped and was happy to change but didn't need his Smart Alek tone and Demeanor. I also informed him I was there for 3 days with my puppy and wanted to use the dog park. He also failed to tell me that the dog park was under construction the entire time I would be visiting. However the last day would be available and after looking into it I was told we wouldn't even be able to go because he is a puppy and had to be fixed...He is 5 months old and it is impossible for him to be fixed. So idk why he didn't inform me of that over the phone. So we tried to enjoy the park while there but really was annoyed by all the rude people and issues with bringing a dog to a "dogfriendly park" . I also attempted to check out the dog park and was quickly run down by a state park patrol that it was closed but was just checking to see if it was even worth going. I also was never given a map of the park and had no idea where the trails were but asked the Ranger where I could get one he told me the Ranger station would have one and I went there to take my dog on some hiking trails which were nice.
This is an old park but noce and quiet if your not near the playground or splash pad. I am wondering why South Carolina department of natural resources does not keep up the lakes in there state parks. Fishing is a major part of my attraction to visit a park. I find here so much lake algae fungus and growth that makes it very hard to fish! I am not sure the last time the lake was cleaned out (2002???)
I assume it is time to use some pf the funds in the states pockets to clean out our lakes and make them fishing friendly again. I am contacting SCDNR personally to see what I find out.
Very peaceful everyone kept to themselves and there are an abundance of trails to walk or ride a bike definitely will be back if we are out this way again camping.
So much to do! Two scenic hiking trails, plus a mountain bike trail. Plenty of picnic spots and kid's playgrounds. Water sports, too: pedal boats, kayaks and canoes. Get the annual SC park pass; well worth it!
Absolutely love this state park. I came here as a kid and I've brought my kids and continue to visit as an adult. The trail around the pond is an easy walk and makes for a great lazy afternoon. Nice sized playground in the shade and close to the parking area for those wanting to get the kiddos out of the house without having to commit to a "hike", with close access to the waters edge. The bike trail is pretty nice as well. I've not utilized the camping facilities here, but I look forward to more exploring in the near future.
Wow!! Clean, beautiful and safe to do hiking.
Walked the shortest trail. Beautiful walk even though rain threatened.
Beautiful place, could use something for swimming not much for middle age children
Went during the eclipse. Park staff was very friendly. The lake was kinda gross and there could have been more water fountains, but overall it was nice.
Nice trails for running or biking. Loop trail is sand but the lake trail is well paved or gravel.
We walked around about 2 miles maybe more. Enjoyed the easy walk as seniors. And the scenery was fantastic. Rented peddle boat and enjoyed the water for an hour. Very beautiful and relaxing time. All the rangers great people.
Love taking my canoe and kayak here. Water is glassy but not a very big body of water. Fun to fish. Trails are nice and the staff are super friendly. Big parking area and lots of areas for get togethers!
I didn't spend much time at the park, I was in town for an event and just needed a place to camp. The location of the park is pretty much in the city so I could hear sirens and loud vehicles for most of the night and was awoken but what sounded like a military gun range exercise. I can't speak to day use or what it's like to have a more peaceful campsite.
Nice state park with lake for fishing, paddle boating. Campground, walking trail, 6 mile biking trail, lots of picnic sreas, splash pad (in season).
Beautiful place with tons to do. You can kayak, paddle board, the little pedal boats. Lots of cute ducks and dogs around. My only thing was it's $6 for an adult ticket. I feel like $5 would be reasonable, but no regrets.
Nice park with a well kept 2 mile loop around the lake.
Beautiful park. Been going there since I was little and now my kids have too.
Had a great time. The bathrooms and area are well maintained. The Park Rangers are very helpful and if you need anything they will jump right onto helping. They patrol the area through the day as a presence to assist. We will be go back, no doubt about it.
Great walk around the pond on the path. It took about an hour. Very beautiful!
Beautiful park. Great atmosphere, lot to do.
Park is pretty nice. Needs some updating. Camping spots are pretty close together for a state park. Bathhouse was terrible. Staff was nice but very strict. Hosts were great.
Nice big park, like our site that we have with full hook-up, nice big dog park, nice lake and trails, just wish someone was running a grader around the campground road, very rough dirt.
As far as state parks go,.this isn't a big one, nor a particularly pretty one but it's close, the staff are friendly, it is clean and there are trails for me and a dog park for the dog.
Overall can't complain. Yeah, unfortunately it's close enough you hear the city inside the park still, but it's also conveniently close.
A little bigger, a little more diversity in trails, etc, would be nice but it's good for what it is, a few hours in the woods on a walk. Not spectacular, but pleasant.
Great little campground, but the road is pretty rough .
Has great trails, lake, and campsites would recommend.
Great First Day hike! The trail was easyvto navigate & despite the showers, wasn't too muddy. We were glad it wasn't too crowded. The kayaks & canoes looked well maintained. We'll try those another day. Nice shady picnic shelters.
It's such a calming place in the city. A clean park, with a splash pad is awesome. There's something here for everyone. We come back frequently
It's a beautiful park with easy access for people with disabilities. There are lots of areas in the park for camping, fishing, boating, and just enjoying yourself. It's a great place for families to come together and have fun.
Beautiful park. Not very wheelchair accessible. Lucky for me, my chair can handle some off roading, but if it were a manual chair... ouch.
Poor guy and his dog got stung by a bunch of yellow jackets... we helped and decided real quick to turn around, and not go that way.
We never went to the pool but it looked nice.
Beautiful well maintained a great place to spend the day with the puppy and kids
Beautiful! Serene! Great place to hike with kids!
Great place for a family cookout. We had enough tables and seats. There were plenty of activities foe the children to do.
So beautiful. The rangers were really personable and nice
Great park ....a lot of nature....great place for walking
The walk around the lake is the path I took. Seen a snake. Didn't really scare me though. He was just trying to go where he was headed. Not really worried about me. And I was ok with that. Lol. Great place to go for a day on the water with family. I paid $6 to take a 45 minute walk. And there were families everywhere having a good time and kids playing on the splash pad.
Nice and quiet. The park hosts were very friendly.
The Mcilwain Family Reunion was 6/11/22 & the park was great ! water park for kids, baseball field, trails, clean. Huge !
Beautiful State Park however the Campground is not up to par.
Nice little splash pad for the kids to cool off, nice pond for fishing and turtle watching.
I stopped here to rest a bit before continuing my travels. It was clean, relaxing and pretty
The trails and scenery. Awesome.
Beautiful park with a small lake for fishing and canoe/kayak/pedal boats but no swimming. Park has a splash pad for kids but it was closed along with boat rentals due to pandemic. We spent the weekend camping, hiking and fishing. Fishing is catch and release, but didn't catch any anyway. Campground is old school rustic dirt roads and campsites. Nice store and friendly staff.
Super dog friendly! Easy to navigate! We had a great time!
Best green space in the Columbia area. Lots of trails and a pretty lake. Plenty of pavilions and good trail markers. I come here every chance I get.
Love this hidden gem in Columbia. The splash pad is amazing and the trails are shaded and cool in the summertime!
Enjoyed camping there. Beautiful place.
We had a nice, quiet weekend at the Sesquicentennial State Park. The restrooms were clean and tidy. The trails and roads were very nice. Every one of the park rangers we met were very helpful and kind. We wanted to go to church on Sunday, which would make us late getting out of the park. When we asked at the gatehouse (on Saturday), the lady ranger was so understanding about it and gave us a later deadline. We got to church, came back right away and packed up quickly. As we packed up, a ranger drove by and waved and smiled at us. We just really appreciated them accommodating us. We had a lovely weekend!
Wonderful place to bring your family. GREAT place to camp. Has a splash that will keep your kids busy for hours. The trails are super fun, bikes, and pets welcomed. Activity packs, canoes, and fishing; you could easily spend a day here having fun with out any problems. And the Park Ranger is really awesome!
Very cool park with a splash pad for kids. I wish they had play equipment for toddlers. Also, it was $6 per person which seems step considering most parks I've been to are $5 (or so) per car.
Love going here. My kids love the two playgrounds and the splash pad. I've camped there a couple of times too and had a great time. A beuatiful place year round. Staff is always friendly and helpful whether you are just buying fire wood or you want to know some more about the outdoors. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing view, just didn't like all the dog pooh
This is a great park to walk, relax and be at peace. I enjoyed the sounds of running water!
Great state park in Columbia SC. It’s nice for walking kayaking and eating at the picnic tables.
They also have a small kids park with a splash pad area which is awesome for the little ones. It’s a very community orientated park which we love.
It is a beautiful park, but I wish the park office could keep things straight. I was told three different things from the office staff about pedal boat rental. I was even given a time to return and was told they were rented out for the day when I returned exactly at that time. I spoke with the same person two of the three times I went to the office.
Such a peacful and beautiful walk! I love beholding the views and sounds of nature!
Nice splash pad. We went during the week and it was not busy at the campground at all.
Very nice State Park in the middle of Downtown. If you hadn't driven in, you'd never know. Nice facilities, everything in good working order. You can no longer swim in the lake, apparently, but peddle boats and canoes are available. Geese didn't seem aggressive, but you might have to watch your step, those little piles are not from small dogs. Walking trail around the lake is in good repair, but may be a little narrow and sharp cornered for both jogging/running as well as walking. Enjoyed the visit and will be back.
This was my first time visiting Sesquicentennial Park, and I absolutely loved it, will be planning another trip there soon.
Such a great park! We enjoyed the trials and the lake. We had a nice picnic there also. Great place to spend a day or a few hours.
Still beautiful after all of these years. Bathrooms were clean. Loved the splash pad for the kids
Great park to visit. Even though I went in the middle of the week during the off season, there were lots of indicators of their amenities that I wish I could've done right now.
Well kept and clean trails with a beautiful view of the lake from multiple angles.
Absolutely beautiful place in the middle of Columbia. It’s a hidden gem!
Two playgrounds, ball field, stream and small lake, 2.5 miles easy trail, canoe and paddle boat rentals, fishing permitted, separate dog park, bikes permitted, camping and rental space available, bathrooms, ducks geese and alligators. Very pretty in fall. Excellent splash pad. $2 or free with pass. they also have events. interesting history. Love this place, so do our kids and dogs. Pretty accessible. Lots of picnic space.
It has an entrance fee but the place is very peaceful and beautiful. There are many geese on the lake but they are very fun and nice to watch. Chairs in the park are comfortable and clean to sit. Lots of trees and decent quietness for peaceful and happy relaxing time.
Beautiful place. Admission for parking is only $6 . They have boat/kayak rentals, great walking trails. Fishing is also permitted. Nice place to take the kids.
Nice area to walk, look at the water, and see some nature. Saw lots of moms bringing their kids to the playgrounds. $5 per person. The waterfall isn't much at all. The staff is really nice. Would probably consider the annual pass (you can put your entrance fee towards the total).
Love it here, great state park right off from main highway you would never know it is, its so quiet at this park and clean. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the pond was really low and water was still, stagnant water, watergrass taking over the pond. Other than that it's an absolute great place to visit and great walking trail and a really great water park for the kids 👍😁
Great little get away in the middle of the city. Lots to do for the whole family. Nothing like what I imagined. I expected a concrete campground with no trees, but I got a happy little wooden, hidden oasis.
Great place to hike, kids love the splash park and playground. Beautiful area.
They've made a lot of improvements. Nice park!!
Never been to an urban state park before. Really liked the fact that when I didnt want to cook over a campfire, we ordered pizza instead. The park was clean and well put together. Lots of trails and interesting things to do here. The kids absolutely loved the splash pad. Cant wait to return!
Was hesitant about camping here because its basically in middle of a city, but it was one of the nicer and quiter campgrounds we've stayed at recently.
No complaints.
Great playground area, splash pad, gazebos.
Very nice park, especially for walking or biking. The paths vary from dirt road to forest path. Small hills add variety. The lake can be quite lovely as well. It isn't spectacular or an intense place to be entertained. Instead, it is a quieter green space with ample opportunities for creatively enjoying the outdoors.
Great place for a family outing. Birthday party! Even a date in the park. The splash pad was closed due to the weather on the day we attended but overall awesome site seeing and plenty of outdoor experience
We have visited state parks all over the USA and this is one of the nicest by far. Camping spots offer plenty of room. Store on site to purchase needs. Park rangers and staff were very friendly. Beautiful area. One morning I took a short walk and saw 6 deer! The bathrooms are fairly clean. The playground and splash pad give kids something to do besides typical outdoor camping activities. If l lived close I would go often. A great place to go to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Very nice and quiet place to camp and relax
Great place to bring the family. There are plenty of places to picnic some with sheds you have to rent. A big and smaller park for the kids. The park is dog friendly and also has a dog park. A wonderful nature trail to walk on. A lake to kayak and canoe in. I don't believe motorized boats are allowed. There is a splash pad for summer fun.
Great experience at the park. Look forward to going back and exploring more. We had the opportunity to meet up with “Shoot the Trail” YouTube channel. It was a great time! Be sure to search “Shoot the Trail” on YouTube as well as “PFAM5” for great crossover adventures.
Love this park and the amenities. A great fishing spot as well
I love this park. It's the first place we took our new puppy for a walk. It is where I trained for obstacle course races. It is the park I got engaged at. It is beautiful, kid friendly, and a great place to spend the day. When I was having a hard time at work I came here and went kayaking. The cost to go is nominal but if you are going to be a regular guest I advise you to spring for the year round pass. Best hidden gem in Northeast Columbia.
Very nice trails around the lake. Much of the trail is paved while other parts are not, but very well maintained. The park features picnic areas and tables for relaxing. Would definitely visit again!
Great place to gather with friends and family!
Great place to spend some times outdoors without going too far out of columbia. Good for kids and adults alike. Pretty decent bird watching too
Great park! Camping there was a nice experience, however the children did get pretty loud during the day as they played in the splash area. The noise was only a minor distraction, and most likely could only be heard on the side of the campground nearest the splash area. The nature trails are very nice, and the trail around the lake is particularly lovely.
The camping spots are very primitive & some are not level. It's very quiet. Great place to relax & enjoy nature. Saw 2 deer playing at the edge of the woods while drinking my morning coffee. Long walk to the lake, bring your hiking boots. Plenty to do with the kids.
I love Sesqui!! It's the local SC park with the 17-letter name that always gets stuck in your mouth when you try to say it. That's the worst thing-the name. Outside of that, it is a great place for families and fun. Now that we are creeeeeping (SIC) past COVID it's even better. The Splash Pad is open and it is the bomb.com. My wife and I took some little kids that we are affectionate to and they loved it! We loved it! It doesn't matter how many families are there at Sesqui's BBQ area there is always a table for your family. These are right next to the lake where the ducks are. Also, people can rent canoes and paddle boats. If that's too much then take a walk around the lake. I have many memories of my family (when we were young) at Sesqui. It's always enjoyable. The Rangers there are nice and friendly. They are very personable and always working. I've never see an Ranger sitting on their hind parts. They are working which tells me that they enjoy the park just as much as we do. I wish that Sesqui would make a commercial AND THAT I WAS IN IT! I will forever come back to Sesqui because it's a place that rewards me every time that I'm there.
Very friendly staff. The only dogpark in the state park system is at Sesqui. Ample hiking trails for people and dogs, who must be kept on leash unless inside the dogpark. Camping area nice with showers, toilets etc close by. Most campsites are at least somewhat concealed from other campsites. I encourage all first time visitors to visit the main office to find out what is available. Camping is limited during winter months.
Nice, clean park. Well maintained. Cool place for walking, small boat rentals, camping, dog park.
Well worth buying the annual pass😎 …
Great place to walk and hike. Long trails and beautiful views. Plenty to do with the pond and the splash pad. Only downside was the price 👎🏼 $6 per adult plus $3 for EACH child is a bit excessive if you don’t have a park pass and if you are only going there to take a walk and nothing else is even open within the park. …
This State park is just a bit better than OK. I was here in early October 2018. There is a huge dog park for the beasties to run around. There aren't too many campers and that's nice. Cell service/reception is good. Lots and lots of trees so count out any satellite reception once you're parked. Additionally the camping area and parking sites need a HUGE makeover and clean up the fallen pine needles. It's a virtual Tinderbox here. Bathrooms need an upgrade also. They are serviceable but need to be sprayed for insects and cleaned of webbing. Water and 30 amp electrical work but need upgrading on the fixtures. The Lake front is beautiful. Small boats can be rented. Fish all you want but get a fishing license. Overall we did have a good time and liked our site. I've been to a few other State Parks and this one is lagging behind. Enjoy your stay but don't expect much.
Pure nature. Beautiful walking trails, actually seen deer close up. Within 50 feet saw doe still wet from birth. Could barely walk. Well kept park. Real nice staff and good people at the park. Affordable camp grounds.
It's a beautiful park to have a gathering very friendly very comfortable very relaxing
Rented a paddle boat and enjoyed a nice calm paddle in their lake alongside some ducks and swans, the staff is super friendly and helpful the weather was fantastic and the restrooms were very clean. Would recommend for a nice relaxing time!!!
Beautiful large state park. There are a lot of fun trails for the kids to explore. Multiple picnic areas with covered buildings. A splash pad that the kids love. A couple different play grounds. There is a large open field and volleyball court. The lake is large and you can fish and go out in canoes or paddle boats.
Did a volunteer project there. Very peaceful, quiet and serene!!
Peaceful and quiet. No one here but us. Great 4th
It's a nice big area to have gatherings for a low cost. My only concern about the splash pad was kids were falling on that concrete left and right! My son included. He slipped and hit his head on the ground just like a few other kids. I understand it's wet and parents should tell their children not to run. However, it's a freaking park!! Whomever designed that thing needs to think again. The ground needs to be more slip resistant, or warn parents to make the kids wear the wet shoes. SOMETHING! Other than that, my son and I enjoyed ourselves.
This is a great place to take your family for an outing. The have a lake with essentials to rent.
This could have been a really great camping location but they're were several problems. Primarily, they didn't update their website. We chose this park because we wanted to rent some kayaks and take the kids to the splash pad, etc. We drove over 100 miles to stay here. After arriving we found out that everything we traveled all that way for was closed, cancelled, or currently unavailable... Instead of a fun stay with activities for the kids, we ended up sitting in the humid 90 degree weather sweating and bored... We left a day early and probably won't be going back. Why 3 stars instead of 1? Well, I guess it's because I see the potential but just didn't get to experience it...
Great park cherish it with ranger station lookout tower lake just amazing place for camping from Indian to luxury camper living it all in our backyard
Great day outside with the family. We went fishing and the geese don't bother you but it is funny to see the people get scared that they might 🤣 😆 …
The trails are an excellent place to bring our dog, and the lake, although humans can't swim in it (due to instance reasons) our dog loves to go in to cool off. The park central can get a little crowded with picnickers on holidays and Saturdays, but the trails remain clear for the most part that we have seen. We have not gone camping here, however driving through the campground, the sites look well taken care of and are close to the splash park.
My family has been going to this park for years to walk the trail with our dogs. It's a great way to get exercise and admire nature. It's also great for housing picnics and barbeques, which is what some of my family and friends did recently. They even have different activities to keep people of all ages entertained: splash pad, fishing in the lake, volleyball nets, paddle boats, playgrounds, etc. It's a great place for parents to get their young children interested in nature and not the tv!
Nice campground with lots of hiking trails and basic campsites with electric and water hookups. No sewer hookups, but there is a dump station on the way out of the camping area with a rinse hose. There is also a water play area and playground. Many sites are level, but some are very steep, so be sure to check this when you make your reservation. The drive is narrow with a few tight spots when entering the sites, so be prepared if you have a larger rig. Stores have a decent amount of space between them and each site has a picnic table and for ring.
Gorgeous lake.
Campsites are underwhelming for RVs but has all the essential hook ups. There is no lake side or waterfront campsites.
The Rangers were helpful and attentive.
It seemed to be the slow time of the year, so the campsites were quiet and well-maintained.
Great place to bike, hike, and explore nature.
Great stay. Looking forward to visiting again.
Had a wonderful time. Rented a kayak very beautiful clear water with lots of vegetation and Lillie's Friendly staff. Well organized spots, very clean. They have camping and a water play place for kids.
Great place to take a hike and get away.
This place is big, the road to the main pond is long, but there's a lot of beautiful trees and wildlife around it. The main trail is full of things to look at and along the way you can spot the other trails and other interesting things. It's a nice place for any occasion.
Lovely state park. Appreciated the spray park/splash Pad and two playground features. The lake and man made waterfall were scenic. Although we didn't bring our dog they do have a dog park.
I love the trails and pond! Beautiful trails with clearly marked directions so you don't get lost. I am thankful for SC parks; beautiful. And this park is tucked away and secluded but not too far from major highways or downtown Columbia.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for about 5 days with our pups. Beautiful spot and it was nice and quiet. Facilities were clean and showers worked well. We will definitely be back.
Very nice park I highly recommend it
Love hiking here!! We have four places we go in Columbia. Great wooded hike here with enough tree cover to make it pleasant! Very quiet! Splash pad for kids is awesome
A nice little oasis in the middle of Columbia. Really nice and quiet ...we enjoyed our time camping there, we loved walking around the lake and trails..we didn't get to go fishing but you can, as well as kayak or canoe rentals. Cool little splash park for kids too.
Great park within the City! Lots of hikes, and lots of sand! No water/restrooms on the trail, so plan accordingly! Lake is small, but would be fun with some paddle boards.
Very, very disappointed that the splash pad was closed. Nice paved trail. Restrooms were clean. We didn't take the opportunity to rent a kayak or peddle boat, but nice to know the option was there. Nice shared areas to sit and relax.
Brought my dog here to walk around and check out some trails. It’s a nice park moderately priced $5 per adult. There’s good walking trails and a lake with paddleboat and kayak rentals, however, the lake appears to be dirty and murky, nothing I’d let your pet or kids touch. More of a swampy reservoir. There’s fields for games and nets as well. A ton of picnic tables and whatnot for your family gatherings or get togethers too. I’ll go back for some more dog walks.
Very nice and clean state park. Fee is little high, but it's good if you get the yearly pass. Nice pond, boats available for rent. Nice trails for walking, hiking. Also a very nice bike trail. Good place for camping.
My wife and I just did the bike trail. We are in decent shape. The trail was pretty challenging for us. I recommend bringing a lot of water. 1 bottle doesn't cut it. Also the park was $5 per person.
Get the annual pass to save $$$$ The new splash pad is great for kids. They also offer canoe and kayak rentals for the pond on weekends. Lovely trails for exercise or leisure. Grills available as well as camping and clean playgrounds and amenities.
We had a great time camping here over thanksgiving. The bike trails and it's proximity to Columbia make it a place we plan to utilize in the future. We can't wait for our kids to be able to use the spray and play in the warmer months.
Great, clean park! Lots of activities and nice little trails to go for walks with the family and pets. Even with a $6 fee per person. Still worth to check it out and spend a good family day there.
4 stars do to the Virus only. The camping and the park its self is great. Most of the staff are awesome with the exception of 1 clerk who seems not to be a very happy person? Maybe do to his choices in life? Great place to visit.
Love coming here. I'm disabled and they have great sites for the ADA. Large space to use your wheel chair n more close to bath house your fire ring etc. We visit sometimes twice a year. And you only minutes from shopping ares, restaurants and more just always a great trip. Hope you all reading this has a wonderful time.
We were looking for a doggy park while we visited and this park pulled up. Didn't expect to pay per person plus the doggy park is very nice but you have to have a membership or pay for a pass to go in. They should really post that up some where at the front or explain the rules cause it a very embarrassing trying to go in and the member are like no you cant come in. But we got in and it was very nice they have toys doggy pools and everything very nice.
Nice park, good family environment.
I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to go camping or to visit for the day. It has a great size lake and hiking trails for walking, running, and hiking. There are also rentals for canoes, Jon boats, and paddle boats, along with kayaks. A safe and friendly family atmosphere for camping overnight. Plenty of things to do on the campsite. Includes a place for throwing horseshoes.
Showers had missing tiles on the floor. Definitely in need of serious repairs. Ventilation is needed in the bath houses. The heat is unbearable in there in August. Campground was quiet and dog friendly. Unfortunately, our site was used by a smoker who certainly didn’t care about the impact of his butts on the environment. Splash pad was unsupervised and kids were running and sliding everywhere. Daycare and church buses also used the facility so it was a bit crowded.
Nice campground for RVs. Back in sites with water and electricity. Dump site as you exit. Well maintained park with gated entrance. Close to town. We stayed there for our daughter's Graduation from Army Basic Training at Fort Jackson.
Beautiful and well maintained park with picnic tables and canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats for rent.
I use the primitive area for scouts. We are here at least once a year. Mostly quiet on the primitive side. You can here traffic noise due to the roads nearby, but you definitely cannot see the cars.
Splash pad and playgrounds for kids and even a dog park if you are so inclined. Hiking trails, geocaching and fishing too!
A beautiful setting among the tall pines. My only concern would be that I'd have to carefully pick my site as a lot of them were sloped, eroded and rutted. and in some cases had trees that would interfere with entering or exiting the site. I enjoyed my stay.
Would give a 5 star rating because the area is very nice, well manicured paths that is great for biking and hiking. Very quaint, clean picnic areas and barbecues for the outdoorsy type. Services for paddle boating and caning are offered. The price of admission is Way too expensive
It is an okay campground. It is better for renters than for RV's. The roads and sites are dirt/sand and it takes a lot to level an rv. The bathrooms are decent. The dump station needs a little work - at least a new water hose without holes in the sides that spray you.
This park has been like a second home to me, it has fostered countless childhood memories that to me, are invaluable. A great place to spend time with loved ones or even alone. It helps you appreciate opens spaces, captivating nature, and the sense of freedom and unlimited creativity it provides.
I am still very greatful for the service and commodities of the park , I truly appreciate you
Reservation process worked well. Most sites fairly level. Hook-ups worked and are fairly well placed. Bath rooms clean / showers could use more cleaning, that being said had plenty of warm water. Shower itself had a privacy curtain - dressing area more open. Bathhouse is older and well used.
There is a camp store with souvenirs and some snax.
A couple of nice play grounds and
an awesome looking splash pad. Several trails, we took the one around the lake. It is 2 miles and is concrete sidewalk part of the way. No real grades, I would rate it easy.
Lovely, shaded campground. Spacious sites. Clean restrooms and showers. Camp host was very nice. Easy check in. Would definitely stay again. We donated extra to the park.
Liked the Campground. Little lake was a disappointment, didn't look clean. Our site # 72 was easy to level a 27 ft. Travel trailer. Most sites would take lots of blocks. Only a few site large enough for large motorhomes or fith wheels. Handy to Columbia. Nice place for City residents for day visit. Good to overnight camp traveling through Columbia. Wouldn't recommend as a destination Campground.
Daughter and I went there for the first time enjoyed her first canoe ride. The park is clean and a decent size. Looking forward to going hiking one day. Huge lake and lots of ducks. Bring bread to have more fun with the kids while the ducks bum rush ya'll.
$2 per person over 15 years old. Canoes/Boats range from $5 - $8 per hour.
It felt like old times out there. There eere children playing and many families on the grills. We were there several hours and it was really nice. Families out on the water in the boats and kayaks amf the sites were just gorgeous. Can't wait to go back again. Really really enjoyed myself.
$5 admission per adult. Lots of picnic areas and playgrounds. A field with a backstop perfect for base/softball but bring your own bases. Gift shop camping and seasonal boat rental. Had a relaxing day there watching geese on the lake.
This is a nice state park. For the most part it is clean and there are many activities to do with your family. The splash pad is great for younger kids and refreshing on a hot day. There are scenice trails kayaking and pattle boats and several park areas.
I go here to run and train for Spartan races. It works well for this, however the trails are not really marked well at the places they intersect. It's not a huge problem as you're not going to get too terribly lost, but it could be frustrating until you sort of map it out in your head. It definitely is beautiful and has some nice views of swampy areas in the morning. If you're the type that likes to find photo opportunities - go early on a foggy morning that has a clear weather forcast. The sun rising puts awesome light rays through the trees and over the foggy watery areas.
$6 to get in and you can ride your bike, run, go with your family or dog, a lot to do. Highly recommend it, just be sure to stay safe and watch yourself...
Very large park with friendly, sometimes paved trails. The bike trail at the front is mostly a sand/loose soil mix which I'm not super into for biking, but otherwise very nice! Especially for $6 per adult
Expensive, per person not vehicle, beautiful park and scenery
Nice boardwalk tour to learn about this park. We took a stroller and our tiddler fell asleep with the bumps of the boardwalk and wind through the trees
Two easy trails to choose from. The loop takes a bit longer than one would anticipate (and I'm an avid hiker!) It's not strenuous at all. Very relaxing hike.
Very nice and beautiful place! Huge pine trees, clean lake and a fresh air will bring a happiness and joy to your hearts! ❤
A park to redeem - the dreadful crud of old south - diversity live!
Nice place to try out your camper with out traveling to far. Scheduled on line and was told rec. Would be sent to email. Never happened, had to go to main office with camper to get rec.
I've stayed in this campground quite a few times and never been disappointed. Some sites take more work than others to get level and some have trees that make it difficult to back in, but I just view it as honing my skills! (29 ft motorhome)
Beautiful park! The trail was clear to walk or run. I will definitely return. There's a $5 fee for adults per day, but its worth it for a peaceful quiet walk.
We took our 3 boys to Sesqui, walked the 2 mile trail around the lake & it was great! Then the boys played in the splash pad & we took our dog to the dog park. This place is great family fun!
We wanted to enjoy some outdoor nature time and take a walk. We went to the park, walked around the lake. We saw some wonderful nature, pine cones, mushrooms and a slight refreshing breeze!! I would highly recommend the park!
Not our favorite SC State Park. The park is in desperate need of repairs and updating. Particularly the campground. Many guests and even the rangers drive like mad people through the campground. I saw one ranger slide into the area near the notice board at the campground. Camp hosts were not particularly helpful either. I would stay again if there was something I wanted to do in the area. But wouldn't stay here just to enjoy Sesquicentennial State Park.
I rated this place only 3 stars mainly because of the fact that you can't swim at the beach which it was famous for. The sea weed has over grown and it is not kept up for swimming. The campground was nice but nothing fabulous the only playgrounds around for the kids are down by the beach which is a pretty far walk from the campground. But it's a beautiful park with great scenic hiking trails. More of a day trip destination or a cheap nite stay for RVers.
Although the price has gone up the park is still a very nice place to go with its wonderful trails, areas for the kids, and areas to relax. Enjoy many different types of activities here including the splash pad! Well maintained.
Great park, beautiful lake with a walking trail all the way around. The kids had fun.
Wonderful place for camping. There is. Huge lake for pedal boating, canoeing etc. Big green area with kids playing ground. Water splash park for kids is amazing. All are at walking distance.
Probably the nicest state park in the Columbia area. Big with plenty of hiking trails. Between that and the lake, there's plenty to do for an all day trip. Playgrounds for the kids. And plans to upgrade the area where the creek flows out from the lake look promising. The only downside here is the high cost of admission ($5 per adult and $3 per child). May be worth buying a SC State Park Annual Pass if you come often enough.
Beautiful lake and lovely walking trails. Very clean . And very friendly staff.
Great biking trails with different levels and superb views of the lake.
Great family outdoors place! They have a splash pad and playground for the little ones, a nature trail and paddle boats. This park also has covered and uncovered picnic/entertainment areas for parties or get togethers.
Great big park in the middle of Northeast Columbia. Great lake with boat rentals. Long hiking paths and shelter to eat underneath are two more reasons to bring your kids. An entire day worth of sites and activities.
Excellent day or few hour get away either alone or with the family.
peddle boats 1-4 ppl $10 p hr
kayaks and canoe rentals too
NO SWIMMING
they do have a nice sprinkler pad
playgrounds
soccer field
trails and paths
fishing
wildlife
camping
tv's, tents, cabins
Many many years ago they had the most amazing swimming area in Columbia but for some reason they have Let It Go. I believe that it would bring a lot of tourist and revenue if they would bring the swimming area back
Sesqui has always been an enjoyable park since I was a kid. Its been maintained well over the past few decades now and I always look forward to random trips. There's something for everyone here.
I like going here to camp. Always cool people and the staff is nice.
Nice park. The trails are great, and it's a great place for camping. I only wish , that there were signs directing you to the p5 campsite. It's almost impossible to find at night, and it's really easy to get lost. Other than that, we had fun.
There was some trash on the trail and in the water. I wanted to relax on a bench, which was unfortunately covered in writing to enjoy some quiet time. I couldn't even enjoy that because someone on a kayak was playing their music really loud. I go to a park to enjoy nature and listen to the water and birds. I couldn't enjoy any of that when I visit. I'll be making frequent updates and take pictures next times to put in the review.
This is a nice park! the camping spots are bigger than you usually find in a state park, and things are set up to make it easily accessible and still give you some privacy. We hiked all the way around the lake; the trail was well-marked and not hard. the camp store, while small, was staffed with friendly and efficient people. it's hard to believe that this park exists right off of a major road in Columbia! The one downside was that you could hear the traffic noise, and they must have been doing some kind of ammunition exercise at Fort Jackson, because we could hear shooting all morning long. But that has nothing to do with the park; just its location. We will definitely return!
It’s was awesome. 4th of July celebration. Took the fam, cooked out and played volleyball
Really nice park nestled in the city.
Have been visiting Sesqui for years to enjoy the trails and finally spent a few nights in the R.V. Park. A delightful experience all around with well planned sites and all the necessary amenities. Thanks again to our wonderful park staff for all their hard work in maintaining such a beautiful place
We did the loop around the lake. A lovely walk! A bit longer by almost half a mile than the stated 2 mile length of the trail, but not bad.
Very nice and spacious park. It has a big playground and a lake you can go paddle boating on. They also opened a splash park in the summer. Big enough to do some hiking in even.
We spent two nights here while in town for a wedding. The staff we encountered were cheerful, helpful and professional. The bathhouse was clean, but in serious need of renovation and upgrade. We enjoyed our stay.
We are new bicycle riders so we enjoyed the safe place to try a trail ride. Several trails to choose from. We will be back to try a longer trail next time 2 mile trail was well marked so we could feel confident that we were on the right path
Really nice splash pad. Some of the campsites are a bit rough with exposed roots, but overall the campground is quite good. Hiking trails will give you some good exercise.
If you have a dog and want to take it to the park, it's like jumping through hoops. Certain Times and have all your paper plus a fee. Really? What's the $5.00 gate fee for since they just raised it from $2.00 to $5.00. Wow! The only improvement I seen in the last 3 years have been a sprinkler / water park for little kids.
I used to go to this park as a child and still love it! It's a great family park and provides hiking trails and a small lake for canoeing etc. I however was not thrilled on how much they charge now. They used to charge like $2 per car now it's per individual. 😒 …
love sequi. I may be a little bias as I grew up with this park. They have updated it over the years. They have added a splash pad which is great to beat the summer heat. They also have a dog park for our furry family. New playground equipment. Overall it is a nice play to take children and relax, also they have walking/biking trails that seem to go on forever.
Great place if you are looking to go to a park for family gatherings and such, however the trails for hiking are not very good. For that I would go elsewhere.
A great way to escape the house for a day or entire weekend. So many things to do: hiking, biking, camping, kayak, paddle board, wildlife, picnic, dog park, water park for kids, pavilions for party's or weddings. The lake and spillway with waterfalls was built by the CCC in the 1930s'. This is a must do, even if it is to take a break and walk the nature trail.
A great place to go fishing, walking, bike riding, and overall an amazing camp! Some of the manmade utilities do need maintenance and you can tell they aren't always probably kept up with, nor is the camp host there at all.
Nice state park not far from downtown Columbia, SC. No swimming in the lake, but they rent canoes and paddle boats. There's a splash pad for kids during the summer. Good walking trails.
This is a place to have a picnic and family get togethers. Ccanoeing, paddle boats, fishing and a kids splash pad are available here. A walking trail around and through the park is free for your enjoyment. A two section campground, with water and electricity, is available for tent campers, travel-trailers, & fifth wheel campers. Motor homes welcome, too. A separate dump station is also available. Fire rings are provided for those marshmallows roasting over an open fire. :) A variety of wildlife occupy the park year 'round, so be prepared to see a variety. The campground gets very dark at night, too!! I know! Enjoy a good time at Sedqui Park and enjoy life.
(04/26/19).
Beautiful, natural park with a center lake and picnic area. Lots of natural trails to walk and rugged trails for mountain biking. I know there is also a camping area for tents and RVs. Very close to civilization, grocery, shopping, restaraunts, but feels like you are deep in the forest.
My family and I visited this park on Thanksgiving Day 2021 and we were impressed by the walking path around the lake.
A very nice state park to camp in. Clean facilities. Beautiful lake with canoe and paddle boat rentals. Great hiking. Nice variety of camping spots, from just tents, to RV's and pop ups. First visit was for 3 nights May 2 thru 5th. Easily booked, reserved and paid for campsite online here. Registration was easy, and since it was our first visit, I asked if I could drive thru and checkout other sites to compare to mine selected online. They quickly gave me a list of open sites to choose from, and after looking, we switched out location. Hassle free! Rangers were most helpful with local information.
All in all, had a great time. Even a rainy day failed to dampen the experience.
Only suggestion: Add photos of each campsite online. Some parks have them online, Sesquicentennial does not.
The hiking trails are amazing the flora and the trails are well maintained, each trail has small signs that point in the direction that the trail continues. The boating activities include kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boating. The park is fun for the whole family.
Loved staying here. Make sure to bring bug spray and spray your tent so it isnt swarming with chiggers though. And keep your tent closed! Definitely get your firewood from here, coal elsewhere, and grill out tons!
Sesqi is my favorite SC State Park! My puppy loves going to play with other dogs at the dog park and going for trail walks with me. There is lots of beautiful scenery 😍 to photograph. We also love going here for picnics. And are excited to spend some time kyaking and paddle boarding as the weather gets warmer. There are also a few playgrounds and a splash pad, which are great places to hang out if you have little ones.
We had a family gathering here and it was so nice, lots of space and playgrounds, beautiful large pond. Ample parking. Sidewalks. We've been going to Sesquicentennial since I was 8 years old. That's almost 40 years!!
Nice wooded spots. ..lower loop a little to close for us...there were some more secluded. Upper loop better. Clean bathroom and shower. Water park close to campground. Nice lake and trails
With two playgrounds, over 10 miles of trails, kayaks, paddle boats, picnic facilities, and a splash pad, Sesquicentennial Park has plenty to keep you busy. Do yourself a favor and get the State Park's annual pass so you can come back without having to pay $5 per adult.
Great place with plenty to do, trails, splash pad, boat rentals, playgrounds (in the shade.... yay) picnic tables, and ice cream for purchase too.
Great place to relax in a kayak and hike some trails. It's not free to get in, you need to pay per vehicle, about 10$ or 100$ for the year. Parking outside the park and walking in, is not a great option.
One of my favorite parks! Very well maintained, clean, and the rangers are all very nice and helpful. The gift shop is awesome too!
Good to take a breathe and walk around the lake.
I love this park, I've been camping here for 18 years. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
Back in the day you could just go there and enjoy the park. I think it us ridiculous that I have to pay almost $10.00 yo enjoy walking there with my grand kids. What am I paying that money for you do not offer anything that is worth paying anything. So sad that we have to pay to enjoy a public park..
Beautiful park. You can take a nice stroll. Or go on one of the nature trails they have. Great place for a family or a group picnic. Like the water...paddle around in one of the paddle boats$
Sesqui State Park is a serene beauty that has something for everyone. The dog park is perfect for your spayed or neutered dog. A small yearly fee will give him/her hours of fun. Rent a kayak or canoe and paddle around or fish the lake. Sesqui has many beautiful trails for walking or biking. For the younger crowd there is a large playground and a splash park in the summer. All free with a small fee to get in the park. Buy the yearly pass (seniors and disabled get it half price) and visit as often as you like. Remember...please keep the park clean!
Very pretty park. A little expensive for the size. It's probably a better value during summertime when the splash pad is open. Definitely worth a visit.
Absolutely love this place. A peaceful walk around the lake and all the b.s. fades away and nothing but peace remains. Simply Beautiful 💟 …
So far we have only visited the splash pad at this park, but my son was back to nap time after only an hour of running around. The $75 South Carolina parks pass was well worth it making the trips here a bit easier.
