Reviews of Santee State Park
Janis N
We stayed in one of the land cabins. Very well equipped and shockingly clean. All kitchen equipment from utensils to dishes was provided to cook standard meals from spaghetti to microwave popcorn. Outdoor grill for your burgers and lake catches. Roughly 10 miles of hiking/biking trails at the park which we found enjoyable. Nice visitors center described the local geography very well. One of our activities outside the park was a pontoon boat tour with a local company. That was well worth the time. The staff we encountered were all very friendly and informative. Would stay again.
Ed Komasara
We stayed in cabin 26 and had a great time! The park is nice with some good trails. We enjoyed being close to the water and the sunsets were awesome! I saw my first armadillo at night too.
Glory Cone
Beautiful campground. Well maintained. Bath houses are clean and modern. Great lake for fishing, boating, kayaking, etc. Nearly 10 miles of easy walking/biking trails. A few areas were wet, but we found easy ways to navigate through without getting our feet wet. We'll definitely return. We stayed stayed at the Cypress view campground. All of the sites are large and easy to back into. Pull-throughs are nearly straight shots in and out.

I’ve stayed in Santee twice on drives to Florida. When traveling I look for areas to take walks and run during the day. Reading reviews of this park, I didn’t expect much but thought it was worth a visit. This trip was late January so the park is empty. The evening we arrived at Santee, my wife and I drove through the park to get an idea of what was there. The sun was setting so we couldn’t take a long walk but got to enjoy the late day sun looking over Lake Marion from the easten end of the park by the boat ramp. It was a beautiful evening.
The next morning we went to the western end near the campground. We parked at Mountain Bike Trail head. From there we walked counter clockwise following the Blue Trail. It turned out to be about 7.5 miles of easy walking. We ran into a couple walking and a guy geocaching near the end of our walk. I can imagine it’s a very different experience in the summer when the park is busy. The first half of the walk was on a skinny trail so you would need to step off the trail whenever a bike needs to pass. I don’t think it would ever be so busy that it would take away from this beautiful walk.
This park has lots to offer anyone. The campground looks nice. The cabins look amazing. There are other short trails in the park. You can also shorten the Mountain Park Trail by turning at the White Trail or the Red Trail. As kayakers, a day paddling on Lake Marion would be enjoyable.
There is a $3 adult entrance fee even in the off season. Lower prices for children and seniors.

We had a wonderful stay at Santee State Park while visiting Congaree NP. Our site overlooked the lake and had a path that led to the small beach. Campers were nice. Bathrooms were really clean and air conditioned.
JW Eibeck
Very nice state park. We camped there for several days. Good electric and water hookups, but no sewer hookups. Friendly staff who are very helpful.
Rebecca Hammitt
Cypress View is lovely. The best sites are lakefront. Must walk down an embankment path to access lake from sites. Bring bug spray. Nice docks for fishing and boat ramps to launch boat.
Andrea T
Good but they should warn you about mosquitoes outside of cabin and chiggers in the woods on the hikes. We caught one fish in 3 days 5 rods going all the time. Nobody else was catching either, guess it was wrong time if season
Susan Brown
Happy we found this park! We were heading to SC to visit the Congaree National Park, but the campground was full. This park was nearby, so we decided to give it a try. Quiet, peaceful, nature surrounding along right water nearby. Also, there is a trail called Sinkhole Trail….easy little loop and you do go by a big gator pond. Watch your little ones and avoid bringing small pups. 😉
Eva Catchot
We have stayed in the cabins and campground. We love camping here. Great fishing. The only thing wrong with our last stay was there were groups of people at the boat landing that continued to party way past quiet time on Friday and Saturday nights. We never saw a park ranger after dark.
I would still recommend Santee State Park as a must visit.
Jeffrey Cone
Nice park. Trails are well maintained. Facilities are clean. Camp sites at cypress view are big and open. It was a great quick weekend getaway
J Sanders (Lpdragons03)
A beautiful state park to come and relax.
Lots of places to hike, bike, camp, or go boating.
A wonderful place to experience nature and all of the sounds.
Jessica Brazell
Clean, quite, shaded campground. Bathrooms are clean with great water pressure. Staff is nice and helpful. The only downside is the gnats! They are horrible right now. Unsure about coming back solely because of the gnats.
Thomas E
Great place to relax. I'm sure it gets really busy during the summer, but for off season camping it was really nice.
Tracy Merkel
This is a nice campground. Our site was super roomy. We were near the lake and had lots of trails to walk. The roads could use some work. They were a little rough, but it is still early in the year. Maybe that is on the agenda.
Maple Green
We LOVED this place. Coming from a funeral in va n having to drive back to fl...it was a lot esp with 2 yr old and this ... this to wear down toddler on trails was a blessing! We did sink hole trail and limestone trail and the small beach part. Thank you. And for $3 per person. Even better.
Amy Plemons
My family and I have decided to try and visit all the state parks in South Carolina. This was the 5th park we have visited so far. The park has a nice camp store and a separate visitor/ interpretive center. The history of the area is interesting. The cabins/villas look nice and there are several playgrounds and multiple camping areas. I didn't like how spread out everything was. There are separate entrances to the park. I think the layout could be a better and the roads maintained. The fishing dock had a lot of cigarette butts, old bait, and fishing line littering the area. It's really sad that people are not more respectful of a state park. I also read online that the burial site of Frances Marion was at the park, but it's actually 45 minutes away. Overall, it was an interesting park to visit, but better for boaters and campers than day users.
Christina Rogers
Very well kept! Quiet and very relaxing park! Will definitely be back.

We drive 45 minutes there and back every Saturday and Sunday to take the kids out on the boat!! Between tubing and pulling the boat up on the sand to let the kids swim and play it really is the best place to go for some genuine family fun!
Jonathan Spires
Rained more than I would like, but we love this park. I miss them not having garbage pails throughout the campground, but at least the dumpsters are cleaned regularly. For the most part the other campers were well-behaved this weekend. Unfortunately, the fish were not cooperating this time.
Rose Escarrega
It was very pretty..the views where amazing..is come back for another visit.
Lance LoAlbo
Great weather, friendly neighbors and a clean park. Metal detecting is permitted with ranger approval!
I hadn't been here since the early 90s so I can't say how much the park has changed but if it has, it can only have gotten better. Lots of lake access, tons of walking and exploring
Anne Tidwell
We stayed in a pet friendly cabin. The space was nice. There was a kitchen and open floor plan with dinning and den room. The bathroom is a bit small, but was adequate. We had a great time here.
FishHead (ChinkyBastard)
Good place to go fishing! Last time we caught catfish and hybrid bass
Nancy Benton
Clean bathrooms and showers. Peaceful great view of lake. RV sites are not on top of each
Deborah Sammons
Great park we had a cabin and it was nice and clean shady
Kitty Clark
Spent 3 nights camping in the lakeshore campground. Sites are very spacious and spaced far enough apart. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Showers worked like a dream.
jm lindley
I gave this this park a 4 but the cypress view side is a 5 and well worth the extra money. The road in and out of the lakeshore side is so bad that people have resorted to using the sides of the roads to get by therefore it gets a three even though the rest of the lakeshore campground seems nice. All in all we had a great time. The nature trails were full of wildlife and scenic views. Deer were foraging on all three of the hiking trails. Unfortunately the deer flies and gnats were a nuisance on the bike trail. There are trails all over the park and along the water that aren't on the trail map. Most of the banks along the lake are very steep which can provide great views of the lake especially the cypress forest in the distance but also limits access to the water. There is no official designated swimming area but there are several areas to swim at your own risk including a larger sandy area on the cypress view side of the park. The water can get deep fast though. We didn't see any alligators but there are lots of signs posted warning of their presence including all over an area that clearly was once their designated swimming area on the day use side. The visitor center is very nice as is the tackle shop. Everybody was super friendly and helpful.
I must add that a Santee thunder and lightning storm is a spectacular event all by itself.
Karen Beck
Nice State Park on the lake, trails in the woods. Day use was fine, restrooms, trail head map and some tables. One trail was marked as a bike trail but many (including myself were walking)nature trail & others. As stated above, nice but nothing really special here-good rates. 👍 …
Renee Morton
My brother and his wife have been camping recently at Santee State Park. I have gone to join them for the day and have had a lovely time at the campgrounds which are right near the lake. There are bathrooms close by and they have been clean. We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to our next visit.
Sheila Jurgensmeyer
Went fishing an had a good. The park is beautiful
Matt M.
We stayed a full week in the pet-friendly cabin. Park was wonderfully quiet. The cabin was pleasantly larger than I expected. The furnishings were great, the cabin was clean/sanitary.
Water access at the two boat ramps is good. There always seemed to be threadfin shad you can net up at the dock.
The only two negatives I can say is that the kitchen has terrible lighting, and the cabins have no campfire ring (even the cabins on the ground). Either way those aren't going to stop me from coming again.
By the way, some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets to be seen here.
Bonita Burden
Camping in site 124 in Dec. with our Lance truck camper. Quiet with views of the lake, but not lake front. Very level site. Enjoyed the hiking trails. Clean bathhouses. The drive into the Lake Shore Camping area is VERY rough.
Renee D
3 dollars for park entrance per adult. Really bumpy roads. But beautiful park
PJ Childers
We enjoyed our stay at Santee State Park. This was our 2nd time staying in one of the Pier Cabins. We stayed in cabin 6 a couple of years ago & this trip we were in cabin 10. We actually preferred cabin 10, less foot traffic. The cabin was clean & furnished adequately to make our fishing trip very enjoyable. If you like to walk out of your door & cast away, you'll love the pier cabins. The park was beautiful the 1st week in October with the trees beginning to change colors. Highly recommend.
John Wofford
What a great campground. Have visited many times and the area is great. Have a 30 foot travel trailer and no issues getting in or out. The staff and host are all top notch.
Barb Collins
We loved our stay at Santee Park. We stayed at Cypress View site 32. Contactless check-in. Just go to your site. Park was quiet. My husband complained that the men's showers were slippery because they used wall tiles on the floor. One of the women's showers was like that, the other wasn't. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked with TP. My main reason for choosing this campground was the bike loop. I rode the side by the lake one day and it was great. The next day I decided to try the other side and it was not. Several stream crossing and one section where I had to push my bike through a swamp. I gave up and went back on the road with wet feet. The restaurant on the road to the park in Lone Star was very good. Cafeteria style now (with COVID restrictions). Homestyle food.
Courtney Raines
Had a great time beautiful and quiet. The view from our cabin was amazing. The cabins are clean and have just about everything you need. My one complaint is the beds they are super uncomfortable. Other than that I enjoyed our stay in cabin 26 we will be returning soon.
Sarah Miller
My husband and I just got married this past Saturday. Our Honeymoon was a surprise for me as he was in charge of planning it. He rented us a cabin on the was and it has been amazing. Beautiful views even when it rained. The cabins are adorable and I am definitely in my happy place. He has been coming here since he was a child. I have never been. This will definitely be a annually trip. Already planning with some friends. #absolutelyinlove
Muggie Hess
Clean, quiet, friendly staff!
No fire pit but has BBQ grill, picnic table, fish cleaning station.
Cabin 28.
Not really a boat "slick" just a cleared out area to boat up on land and tie off. Wouldn't want to do this with a speed boat or pontoon...worked great for a John boat tho!
Kathy Witt
Clean campground with spacious campsites. Dump station is conveniently located and easy to use. Very relaxing. Lots of nature to explore. Park Rangers and camp hosts are very pleasant and helpful.
HELL NO 2 THE NO NO NO
We had a great time the camp sites were nice and we caught some nice catfish. The only drawback is that the only problem that I had is that there's no where that you can fish on the bank. It's all high banks and bushes. But you can go down to the boat landing and there is a Sandy beach there
Jennifer Johnson
We stayed at lakeshore campground and it was beautiful. Our camp host graylon was friendly and knowledgable. We hiked the sinkhole trail and enjoyed it. The road in was horrible!! It will tear your vehicle and camper up. We will wait to come back until the road is fixed which is a shame as it was a beautiful park!
Kathryn Nolter-Cram
What a great place for a first camping trip! We were able to book a site right by the lake by calling the park directly. I mentioned we'd be coming after work, and the nice woman I spoke with said a check in wasn't necessary, we could just head directly to the site. On our site number there were hang tags for our vehicles. The site was very spacious, and even had some trees surrounding it for our hammocks. The site was also very quiet and equidistant to two very clean restrooms. It included a picnic table, fire ring, water, and electric. We spent two nights in a tent and were able to hike all of the trails while we were there. They are very well marked! We also picked up some matching hats to commemorate our first camping trip. We hope to come back in the summer to fish and take advantage of the kayak rentals.
Raynard Corr
The lark is nice. The lake like another is beautiful. The rangers might be able to step it up a notch and pay more attention to what people are doing. The amount of logs (trees) washed up is crazy. I understand most state parks take the view that if a tree falls or anything like that nature relates they leave it however in this case I believe the logs to be dangerous to people attempting to enter the lake. The "beach" area was covered so the only place people could enter was the boat ramp so families literally use it like a beach. Some sat on the wall others on the grass as kids swam using rhe ramp. The parents when attentive (thankfully) and made rhe kids move when people wanted to launch a boat or exit the lake but the kids should not have to use a boat ramp to swim. Removing just logs on the beach area would have made a big difference.
Camille Glick
Well maintained grounds with pretty views of Santee River/ Lake Marion. Cabins are simple, very comfortable and contain everything you would need plus have a nice water view. I would stay here again.
Cassandra Gaskins
One of our favorite state parks in SC! The views, the campgrounds, the properties over the water, kayak, fishing, canoeing or whatever you feel like doing is exactly how this campground camping feels. Miraculous.
Shelby Kyzer
Great trails and was easy going. I loved all the insects, squirrels, birds, and 3 deer we saw. On my draw back was not enough places to sit down and rest if beed be, and my Fitbit showed it as 8.5 miles.
Brandy Carmikle
My husband and I stayed in a pier cabin for a little weekend getaway. Clean, cozy and very relaxing. Will surely be back....Until next time
Pamela Khairallah
Clean, quiet park with clean bathrooms and showers. Beautiful walks along lake and through the forest. Lots of birds and deer. RV spots are mostly level, check descriptions. We made a reservation and went straight to our spot.
DS Bruce
Had a great time for a whole week! If you love fishing & boating, go. We neither fished nor boated but we met so many great people. There are kayak & canoe rentals, boat tours available. The cabins on 5he piers over the lake were great, fully furnished, with well-equipped kitchen (but bring a sharp knife & salt & pepper) and clean & comfortable, including the beds & bedding. And each cabin has its own floating dock within 20 feet of the front door, so take your boat! Grocery store (Food Lion) is only 5-10 minute drive away. You can do as much or as little as you like there.. trails for hiking, for instance. So glad we went!
Cynn Norman
This place is so relaxing and beautiful. The cabins are comfortable, well equipped and very clean. It's a little piece of heaven tucked away from the rest of the world, especially if you like to fish.
Neil Leyda
Very nice park. Most of the sites have power, bathrooms were clean. Favorite park in the state.
Cat Barber
This is a favorite family campground. There are many activities to do here including paddle boating, multiple trail walking, swimming and more. This is a very family friendly place to go camping. Kids can ride bikes around the park, guest are usually mindful of the speed limit. There are camp sites that have water front view, electric and water is included at each camp site. RVs are also popular and accommodating at the campground too. They have a nice gift shop that you can buy lots of souvenirs, some food and finishing bait. I would highly recommend this campground for your next family camping trip! This is one of the 47 SC state parks (#43 on it
Frank B.
I enjoyed the park. I walked around the picnic area and visited the water front and enjoyed the beauty of nature but that was about all that there was to do. Unless you are planning on boating or camping don't expect much else. The park seemed to be well maintained and I look forward to camping here soon.
Sara T
Such great place. We manage to get a cabin on the pier. Loved it here!!
So much fun and activity going on in that water.
First thing in the morning: make a cup of coffee and started fishing..amazing!
Be aware of the birds on the small parking right in front of the piers. They do damage to your car. (We know from a first hand source 😫) There are alternative parking options. Use them!
Mich Kel
We camped at site 93 Labor Day weekend. Loved our site, right across from the water. However there was a lot of trash around the shoreline, needs a little more landscaping done the grass near the lake was a bit high. The female Range was very nice but we had an issue with one of the male rangers. I did call and complained about him. I won't going into long detail but I was disappointed in how he approached underage teen son. I probably won't come back only because there are other SC parks that are kept up a little better. The boys did enjoy fishing of shore. Took the boat out a little, lots of stumps around so be careful. Our neighbor had a john boat, hit a stump and had to bring his boat back in. He had a little whole.
Bryan Henderson
Beautiful place. First time campers. Campsite we chose had a slope. Found it a little difficult to get camper level. But other than that everything else was great.
Mark Haskell
Clean campground with friendly staff. You can rent boats or fish from the pier. The clubhouse has good views of the lake and has games for rainy days. They are building interesting rental cabins on piers jutting into the lake.
Christopher Donahue
All of the outdoors experiences include a stay at Santee State Park.
The fishing is outstanding.
The campground is first class.
The boat ramps are super.
Kevin Murray
We can't here for a couple days with my grandparents and my parents. The facilities were very nice and the rangers were a joy to talk to. There's some easy hiking and the lake is gorgeous.
sheridan Hammer
Very enjoyable pet friendly place to stay. Close access to town & easy access to interstate. Just needs a touch of road maintenance to 1st camping area access. Did I also mention great price? Also, liked knowing the Park Rangers always had an eye out for security. Great place!
Scott Emery
Love that place nice sites and clean bathrooms and beautiful lake and wonderful host and friendly staff
Simon Lavoie
The park was ok. We had a nice spot to park our RV. The restrooms where not well maintained. No one cleaned the toilets during our 5 days there.
Jesse Furtick
Nice campground with decent sized sites. Lots of 1 way roads through the campground. It was extremely dusty when we went and everytime someone drove past our site, we got dusted out. Luckily not a lot of traffic. All in all we had a great time and the kids enjoyed themselves.
Karen Sparks
Beautiful lake. Nice playground for the kids, easy boat ramp to launch my kayak.
My bearded dragon loved its easy slope where he could play in the water safely.
Lawrence Staab
Great Thanksgiving camping experience for our large family (4 RVs, 2 tents and 3 near-by hotel rooms)
Kristy Murphy
Really nice park. Great place to bird watch ride your bike or go for a hike. Lots of people fishing.
Jeffrey Caudill
Wide open camp sites at cypress. Awesome views great family friendly trails. We will be coming back in the future for the camping and fishing.
Hilary Bales
I have been camping at the state park for over 40 years and come yearly! The bath houses are clean but are in need of some upkeep and the roads into the Lakewood side are in desperate need of repair.
SHIRLEY HOWARD
We love Santee State Park. I would give it 5 stars except for the condition of the road entering Lakeshore camping area and comfort station. The road is terrible! Items in my camper don't shift until we are on that road. The comfort station is cleaned but it is consistently damp. There is no air circulating. New shower curtains were installed which is a plus and spider webs disappeared. This station is near site 96. Even with these issues, they will not stop us from camping there. I also have to add that the staff are awesome!🙂
Janie Martin
Park was really nice. We stayed in the park cabins by the lake. The only bad thing was there were roaches, the kind people have in their houses. If not for that I would have rated them a 4.
Mike on The Road
nice and quiet, clean some overflowed trashcans. but the Campground is really nice. the toilets and showers would need a remodeling. but over all a nice place.
Trevor Wise
Great place, we have been here twice and the fishing isn't very good. Very relaxing area but not much to do, lots of hiking.
Shawn Brown
One of the best state parks around. Awesome campground
Amy Wagner
This place is amazing. Great fishing. Playground available for the kiddos. We can’t wait to come and camp.
Frankie Mundy
The roads into the park are terrible, they need to do something about them. The park itself is quiet and the people are friendly. They have power and water in each camp site. The shower house is not cooled. We have a good time every time we visit.
Sean G
Beautiful park and campground. Friendly staff, laid-back atmosphere, and the lake is so warm right now! We stayed at site 94, which was relatively flat, very shaded, and right across the street from the lake. I have been staying here for years, and will continue to camp here.
robert mcgee
We had a great day. Even if we didn't catch any fish.
Ryan Wachstetter
Santee State Park is great. Tent sites, camper sites, cabins, covered picnic areas with charcoal grills, 2-3 boat ramps, playgrounds, walking and biking trails, canoe rentals, a store and a lounge with TV and internet, fishing pier, beach to swim at, and much more. Only 3 miles from I-95. Highly recommend it.
Lauren J. Harrell
We loved Lake Shore campground!!
Mark Buchanan
We stayed at the Lakeshore Campground for a few nights or as I call it 'the old school campground'. Gravel/sand roads, large spaces older fishing camp vive. Which has its good points, peaceful, nice views of the lake easy to take a walk bathrooms were fine. We would stay here again. Cedar View campground appears to be the newer campground with cabins, playgrounds, store etc. All in all nice state park.
Rick Marrier
Spent two nights here. Beautiful lake.
Patrik “Pädu” Schneider
Santee State Park is a wonderful place to have a break out of the busy week or just leaving I-95 for a stop over on the way South or North! Offering all you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Boating, kayaking, enjoying your RV, having a coffee in the shop or meeting other travelers, best you can get! The staff will help you with everything you ask for!
Tony Schumpert
Nice camper sites. Clean facilities. Friendly staff. Great views of the lake.
Lucretia Griffin (Realtor)
One reason we decided to purchase a property in Santee i looked at properties and just checked out the State Park & it was just beautiful, including all the surrounding areas. SC Parks do a wonderful job, well maintained and only friendly service. A great place to live in SC.
Brent Tatum
Perfect getaway to enjoy nature if you live in the hustle and bustle of Charleston. Not to far, but far enough to enjoy the lake and nature and get disconnected. Campground near the office is kept up giving probably 40% of the spots a view of the lake. For those that have been to Dreher its basically a smaller version. Have not been in the cabins, but they all have a view of the lake with ten of them actually on a platform over the lake.
Organized Maid
Great park for all your aquatic needs plus you can geocache at this location, fun for whole family , park rangers are very helpful
Brian Freed
One of the best state parks we've stayed in. Spacious sites, beautiful lake views, and a fantastic bike trail. We would definitely stay again!
escott bergren
Nice park. Playgrounds, camping, a nice interpretation center, lots of lake. Cabins and rv sites. The lake front cabins with their own docks were closed still from the flood damage.
Jack Malone
Cabins are amazing fulky stocked. Hicked all the trails made for a great weekend nice and quiet. Relaxing
Nagender Kumar
Great place for camping. But need to be more careful while boating, as the lake has a lot of tree stumps peaking out.
Carrie Anderson
Beautiful. Quite. Cabins on the water.
Respectful. Santee River is beautiful!
A nice getaway . You can't just get in here either! Great!
Cathy Martyn
Beautiful Park, would rate it higher except for the roads being so bumpy. Site was listed as a PT but turn was too sharp with big trees. Site had big tree roots making it hard to pull camper in, so we leveled them off with stabilizer pads. Otherwise we loved all the beautiful, big trees. Great sunrises over the lake! Would definitely come back to a different campsite.
jolisa smalls
Had an amazing time. The campground was well maintained and I was walking distance to the beach. I did a lot of fishing and relaxing I stayed in lot 47 it was a great location and very shaded I didn't even pull my awning down all of the amenities were clean also camp very quiet at night all dogs were leashed. I had a wonderful experience will definitely return
Sherry Mount
Very pretty. Nice quiet campground. Good hiking.

New to area 3 months ago, been to this park 1/2 dozen times and every time found more things to like. 2 great boat ramps/parking, camping areas in great condition from tent camping to full hookups, board walks, camping villa's both by the water and with boardwalks over the water. Lake history museum and trails plus many more things to explore.
Audrey Ateca
Lovely trails that are easy to walk. Beautiful cabin and campground sites. Lots of games and DVDs in the camp office
Kenneth Campbell (KC)
Great place to take the family to go camping right next to the lake. Has boat access to the lake for fishing year round.
Gina Marie Acker
We only stayed for a few minutes to break up a long drive, but it was so nice that we decided to come back in the spring and stay in one of the lakeside cabins.
Charlotte Goodman
We enjoyed the beautiful lakeside camping!
Trance Tallentine
Had a great family time, we dont have a camper but had fun tent camping. Lots to do and stores / shopping close too.
Heather Joyal
It's a beautiful park, but the roads are HORRIBLE. The road caused a flat tire on my boat trailer. Where is all the money to the state park going to where they can't even fix the roads?! 😑 …
Tanya Towne
The campground is very large and well maintained. The campsites were clean. Plenty of shade! Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. I will definitely be back to explore more!

Birthday weekend in the great state of South Carolina and Santee State Park. Day 1 Charleston, beautiful architecture. Day 2, stopped in Ellorree for lunch at the local cafe. Good eats. Met with neighborly horse trainer in the cafe, and subsequently went out to visit the Ellorree Training Facilities and hang with the horses. Later that day we traveled all around Columbia and walked the capital grounds. Sheppards pie and Irish Magnus cider for dinner. Next some Santee park mountain biking through the woods. We hit some fun cricks n mud pits, hint, wear bug repellant and bring a water bottle. Back at cabin, BBQ on the grill for dinner followed by a night cap with some camping games around the table.
Crystal Griffin
Okay for traveling for a weekend or week . Not an actual area for swimming. And if you want to take your kids to one of their parks you'll have to drive a little distance to do so. We did enjoy the peacefulness.
Steven Bruggeman
Just arrived yesterday beautiful morning by the lake.
A much needed Vacation with Marianne
Emily H
We had a great time camping here. The bathrooms were clean, not too many bugs, and all the workers were friendly. There is a lot to explore here.
Reesha Johnson
We had a great 4th of July at Santee State Park. Fishing for catfish all night and watching the beauty of nature as the wildlife scurried about around the cabin was so peaceful. The sunsets and sunrises were absolutely breathtaking! Just what we needed to step away from busy home life and enjoy our family.
Paul Watts (Watts happening)
We're we stayed was nice but they said the had two tennis courts and there were none
Thomas Campbell
The up keep and care of staff is second to none! Beautiful land great fishing!
Lucy Parker
We had such a wonderful time, bathhouse was kept clean. We were right by the water. Once again it was a wonderful place
Channel McMillan
Had so much fun trails park water front restaurant an lots to do
E Wil
Always a clean campground near I95. Can get muddy after a rain, but not terrible.
Katrin Shaw
My family only stayed 1 night traveling back to VT but wished we could have stayed a few more nights. Spacious, pet friendly and clean. The fire pits had fold down cooking crates, nice feature if you didn't bring a grill. Bathrooms were well maintained and showers had nice hot water. We will return some day 🙂 …
Nick Koch
It's a great place to go camping or just spend a day. Beautiful scenery, cool hiking trails and wild life.
T. Davis
Great State Park. One of my favorites in South Carolina. Great fishing and scenic views.
Vladimir Riabchenko
We were there for three days. Our cabin was right on the water edge and we had no difficulties to use our boat. Cabin is pretty old, but AC works great. I would definitely recommend this park for riding bakes or walking, because forest is wonderful. We spent lovely weekend🤙 …
Peggy Greene
The roads are a bit rough but not as bad as previous reviews want to make it appear. It was my first time here and I had a blast. The restrooms were clean and the site was amazing. The people that work there were really friendly. My only notes is to the campers...Please clean up after yourself and that includes cigarette butts 🙄. Nature is not your personal trash bin or ashtray.
robbie peeples
Nice place to camp and they have rental cabins (plenty of fishing and boating!!)
Eric Rendall
Nice park, lots of camping 🏕 sites, also has cabins to rent …
Elizabeth Capalbo
My family and I rented cabin #1 on the pier and Cabin 17 on land. The rental fees are affordable, but the cabins are showing their age a bit. Everything was clean and fresh but the doors have spaces that allow palmetto bugs to sneak in. Note: the kitchen is minimally equipped. We had garbage bags, dish rags, and dish towels. They provided dish soap but no paper towels. There is a coffee maker and filters, but they offer no coffee, sugar, dried creamer, etc. The great news is that when you rent a cabin on the pier, you share it with only four other cabins. The pier is huge and allows for great outdoor space, great fishing, and great nature viewing. We truly enjoyed our time last weekend. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. The common areas or kept clean and well-groomed. This truly is one of our favorite State Parks to camp at - tent, cabin or RV. There is no traffic sounds and you can hear the birds.
Kim Lee
Clean, fun, friendly staff. Bike trail is full of roots and sand. Some areas not used much. It can get a little tough. I would not take young children. You need a good bike with a comfy seat. Great place for weekend fun. Very pretty.
Gary Heinze
The park is nice, though somewhat remote. The facilities are in great shape and the sites are large, most that we've seen are pull throughs. Lots of golf courses nearby (relatively). We just got here yesterday. Note very weak connectivity on Verizon and no wifi. Surprisingly got 46 stations on regular TV scan.
Scott Robison
The family had a great time walking around and seeing all the different things.
Nicole Rae
Great places to fish. Friendly people, beautiful spots to relax.
Philip Boatwright
On of our favorite parks, been going there for years.
Amy Frye
For some reason I never feel safe out at this park. Just too remote. Not enough ranger presence.
Erich Wade
Lots to do on the lake, best RV camp sites are near the main office and doc.
Kaleb Curtis
It's a fantastic state park with a ton of great amenities! Fun for everyone in so many ways! & very well maintained!! But it has gators so we're not going back - we take our dogs with us & they're just bait to attract the gators so it's not the right place for our chaos hoard.
Remi Paluszak
A beautiful park with several hiking trails that offer an immersed and intimate view of the local fauna.
Joe Blevins
Amazing park hidden on Lake Marion. I didn't even know this place existed.
Sheeja Natesan
Beautiful view. Very peaceful. Def want to see come to again
Jon “KT4KB” Lambdin
Wonderful campground! Beautiful views of the lake!
gigi spires
Pretty cool park with spacious campsites.
John Dreher
Had a great time on the lake, fish bit every morning 🌄 😀 …
Nikole Rae
Clean park, friendly and helpful locals! Lots of places to fish:)
Darlene Farmer
Father's day trip geo caching....loved the park will definitely return
bonnie harper
Got there late in the afternoon but ended up with an amazing campsite for the night!
Jennifer Watkins
Wonderful time camping! Site #99 was perfect - lots of trees, close to water, near the bathhouse. Bathhouse dated, but very clean. We loved the trails and wildlife.
Anna Koon
Absolutely love this place. My husband is an avid fisherman and always loves going down there for the fishing. I, on the other hand, love being away from society. We rented one of the cabins and had an issue that they had to move us. When we got there Toni in the visitor center made us feel welcome and was very helpful and accommodating. My only complaint was the furniture in the cabin left a lot to be desired. We will definitely be back next year!
James “Jimmy Jack” Smith
A great place to come stay the weekend or the week. World class fishing and hunting is right outside the door. If you plan on staying a week I would suggest staying in one of the cabins on the pier! But make reservations early because they book up and stay that way during the spring, summer and fall!
Bruce Smallwood
Stayed in one of their cabins which are convenient, clean and comfortable.
Alejandra. Borquez
Nice quiet place to walk the trails, and kayak away from the main lake.
Yashica Davis-Smith
Always a pleasure spending time with family
Alan Smith
The park was very clean, had lots of trees and nice people. There were recreational activities, but I did not participate since I was only there for 2 days. I did however enjoy hiking the trails. There was a convenience store, but I can't tell you anything about it since there was a posted sign on the door aimed at the law abiding but ignored by the criminal element. Aside from that I would have given it a five-star rating.
Andrew Carter
I visited my brother and his wife and some friends of theirs and we had a Thanksgiving feast.
One can almost imagine what it was like on the first Thanksgiving with the Native Americans and the Pilgrims. While we had turkey, we can really only conjecture what's they had: probably deer, boar, maybe fish, waterfowl, squash, corn, cranberries, blueberries.
It may have been a bit cool and when it got dark the fire pit was pretty much kept going. Definitely a pleasant place if you want to unwind.
Angela Nieves
Absolutely LOVED this State Park - so much that we booked more dates in the future!
Mary Ellen Denesha
The cabins are very nice with the exception of the beds. They really need to invest in some new mattresses. I couldn’t walk after sleeping on those beds. They are like boards . People want to be comfortable when they are on vacation.
Justin Richard
Great place to camp, but facilities need some attention.
David Bleakney
Had the pleasure of staying lakeside. Looking forward to future stays.
Chip Jefferson
Nice state park. Very laid back.
Michael Reinard
Great place to hike and see beautiful scenery
Richard Austin
We had a great time camping during Halloween weekend at Santee State Park.
Gene Brock
This time of the year it is very quiet, which is what I like.
Ricky McGill
The park was very clean and the staff were very helpful. To bad the fish weren't cooperating.
Jani Miku
Everything was perfect. The bathrooms were cleaned periodically while we there, which was nice. For literally $100 a year, you can camp there. So if you’re a van lifer, you should definitely stop here to rest. They also have showers with good water pressure. I definitely recommend this place.
John Levesque
Park was nice, probably better if you had your own boat to cruise and fish on. Sites are pretty close and not much privacy, not much else to do in park except fish the lake. A few small trailers that allow you to bike, so always a plus. Nothing that really wowed while staying there, but who doesn’t like staying so close to a lake!
Ruth Thompson
This park is a real gem! If you want to be active, the opportunities are there. But if you want to find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the beauty of Lake Marion, you can do that, too. We visited on a weekday in April when the park wasn't crowded and it was perfect. Not sure if you would find the same serenity at the height of the summer, but it is a large park with room to spread out. Just go. You'll love it.
Jacob Pearce
This park is amazing for famies to get together or to just escape and hang out in nature. The rangers are compassionate and by the books.
Kenneth Rice
Very nice campground, would recommend.
amy brammer
Cypress View Campground is what it is. Nothing special, nothing to do. If you're traveling through and need a place, it's good. We camped during the week, so it was quiet. Sand and Gravel lots, pretty level. We're in a Class A, so we were fine. Good size sites, no privacy between each site. Didn't use bathhouse, as we're self contained, but did see a cleaning group go in several times. I'm giving it 3 stars due to the camp hosts. Not friendly, not helpful, never saw them but once. Older couple, maybe this not for them.
frances postell
2nd play ground area was closed,we took 4y to main ply ground it was great. Other small children playing with gbaby.having fun. Along comes older children.not play ground age,on bikes see babies playing. Older children decide to run up slides and jump around younger ones. We left. Inappropriate behavior around small children. But park is great
Karen Griffin
We live in the area and kayak usually out of the park- had a great day on the water
Dianne Reardon
Went for a picnic and to check out the lake. Saw pontoon boaters successfully bring their boat in on the boat launch. 👍 Playground is ok, not much to it. Picnic grounds where we ate were very littered by pods from the gum trees and pine cones and made it difficult for my husband to get around because he's an amputee. Vistas of the lake were nice. Interpretive Center had no displays or information on local flora and fauna which was a disappointment to our granddaughter. Nice little snack/gift shop. Camp grounds looked nice. Kayak rental available. Nice cabins too. But for our little outing, it was just ok. Wish this lake were more accessible for people who don't have a boat.
John Hill
Park is nice, if you want to fish or hike, no real tourism to be had, we like history. we cut the trip by one day, I don't think I could sit another day without adventure. Drive through lot 29 - brutal with a 36' 5th wheel - tried setting up 3 times adjusting and moving around trees. finally left it unlevel so our steps would not be more than 20" from the ground - our youngest still had to climb
Jacob Draper
It's that time of year to hit the out doors and connect with nature. Camping, hiking, hunting or fishing you will find it at Santee State Park:)
Zakiyyah Stroman
It was a relaxing weekend. Everything that we needed were in the cabins. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Family friendly.
Lydia Holcomb
I arrived here just before dawn to take a break from driving. It was extremely foggy but beautiful nonetheless. I come here quite often and really enjoy it when the weather is nice. Great campground with clean facilities right on the lake. I've enjoyed many a picnic at the table next to the marina with the breeze coming in off the lake. My dog loves it too. She hates traffic noises and there are none here. Just peace, quiet, and natural beauty!
Elaine Magliacane
Nice park...must be good fishing as lots of fishermen here.
Dana Key
Beautiful park, fishing, hiking, sinkholes, bring a boat! Only one boat rental in the area and it's big pontoon boats.
Ned S
Marvelous little patch of manicured, ungulating SC forest set on Lake Murray. We walk and bike here often. Camping is a little crowded. There is a dockless boat ramp in the parking lot.
T C
Wonderful customer service! I stayed in one of the pier cabins. Clean had everything I needed! Will definitely be back!
Rikki Menz
This is a beautiful park that has SO many trails for biking and walking. It has safe play areas for kids & kayaks to rent & all the rest rooms are super clean everyday! Its so peaceful at night and fun during the day.
I definitely recommend this park for travelers, families and individuals ❤
Christopher Osborne
If you come here, stay in the cabins. They have 2 bedrooms with full size beds. And if you are lucky enough to get a cabin on the water. You can fish off the docks there. This was my 3rd time staying here. The fishing is great if you have a boat.
Alex V
Just took a 4 day trip here. We had 3 different RV sites with 3 kids and 5 other adults. We all had a good time even with some rain. Very clean park and rangers did their jobs by making sure everyone was legal and doing the right thing. Zero hassle and will most certainly go back.
Lish Briggi
What a beautiful state park. The RV spots are spacious. It you have a Class A >30' go to Cyprus campground. The road to the other campground is in rough shape and many of the spots are too small for a rig >30ft. Great biking trail too.
The Clarks
We had a nice time. We were in cabin #30 at the end of the road. The cabins are close to the lake.
Brenda Farnsworth
I really love to camp at Santee. The problem is the roads getting to the campsites. Sometimes you might have to go back and get pieces of your camper.
Erez Peretz
Nice place for forest bathing
Betty Andrews
Beautiful area and loved our location on Lake Marion. Easy access and nice pull through.
Sherry Cortez
This place is so nice. Plenty of places to walk and ride bikes. The bath house is just spotless! Easy to get in and out of. Love it!
Allison O'Rourke
We made a short trip to the state park and checked out the sinkhole trail. It was was unique area and we saw some wildlife (skinks, toads, birds). The staff in the park office did not seem knowledgeable about the park when we asked for good areas to check out with children or where we could see wildlife.
Terry Holifield
Loved being in cabins on the water. Bathrooms are very small and if you need an extra blanket you'd better bring one. Kitchen needs more light even for an open concert design. Playground was closed but the swimming area, boating and fishing were open. The kids loved the fishing. Bring your own DVDs and games due to quarantine. Can't wait to go back.
la tompkins
Beautiful! Great info center that talks about how the lake was made.
Randy Jacobs
We rented a pier cabin over a long weekend recently. It was very nice. We kayaked just a small finger off the lake where the pier was located. Our stay and the lake and park were excellent. We will definitely be back.
Beto Orihuela
Very nice place and would be back in the Summer Time!
Pauline Wilkinson
We enjoy the campgrounds, have stayed in both. Nice hosts, big private sites, and bushy surrounds. Hot, hot showers. We always book for a couple of midweek nights and end up extending.
Thomas Constant
Located in a great area, friendly staff and nice camping facilities.
Carl Rathburn
Great place for the family and friends for the day or a weekend getaway.
Deborah Cochenour
The campground I love but the roads are horrible. They are almost impassible.
robert fowler
Very nice place if you are camping either rv or primitive . Good fishing from shore or piers. Boat Ramp also available. The only down side is there is no designated swim area I am aware of. There are sink holes and caves in park but they are not marked on any maps.
Keri Collins-Mooney
Great little place to stop and stretch our legs with little kids! Use the map on the website to find how to get to each trail.
Destinee
The grounds are awesome the lake was crystal when the sun shone on it. The cabin was good, just wished it was cleaner (there was dirt and someone's hair all over especially in the bathroom) but I take my own cleaning supplies anyway. The next reservation I'm going to get one of the cabins that sits on the water. Overall, we had a really good trip. Going into Santee there are alot of nice places to shop around, and we found things there that we couldn't even find in Columbia. Everyone working at the park was so nice and helpful. Thank you ask so much and see you next month!
Michelle Meadows
It's a fun place for the kids to swim n play n go fishing at n love to camp to so it's all one big place for lots of FUN N COOKING WITH THE FAMILY
david hutchinson
Santee is a Great Park I would highly recommend visiting it.
Xavier Davis
Was at a cabin.. nice n clean.. the wifi wasn't popping
Christopher Behre
Great kayaking and walking trails. Good broadcast TV and Verizon cell service.
Greg Shannon
Camping at lot 77. Nice place to pull in.
hmholder
We got two cabins. One on each fishing pier. (I think they should have a dock connecting the two). It was hard for me to cast out over the boats. I had to fish in front of someone else's cabin.
Cabins: One was totally remodeled and nice. The other was not. It smelled like mildew and was damp inside. It had old carpet and an old futon that was so wore out you couldn't even sit on it. It also had palmetto bugs creaping around. Gave 3 stars b/c the one cabin was a 5 star cabin. The other was a 1 star cabin. They both cost the same. I think they should've warned us that one was remodeled and one wasn't and offered us a refund on the one that wasn't.
Marie G
The park is clean. The bathrooms are 98% clean all the time. Never had any issues. We love coming here and everything is very accessible.
Janice Amaral
Very nice we were in the section that was very wooded and it was beautiful my two dogs loved. It was easy to get in and out of the campsite. And if we were in South Carolina next time we probably stop.
Lori Mew
It nice clean and everyone is friendly and the views are amazing
Chris Koslin
This is a beautiful state park. The state of South Carolina does a great job with their state parks. This is another park where it is great to bring your kids and let them experience nature. I would highly recommend this state park. I went ahead and purchased the yearly pass for all state parks and am slowly working my way through them all. Great place to view wildlife and waterfowl. Well worth the visit as a day trip and close to the national wildlife refuge so you could make a day of it and visit both.
Lori Morgan The Berkeley Insurance Agency III
WE LOVE everything about Santee State park.
Bee Bop
The best park in South Carolina! Must see.
West Wind Barn Doors
Great way to spend the day, Just being able to see family and do a little fishing 🎣. …
W&C M
Very quiet park, great to kayak on Lake Marion, friendly state park staff, clean bathrooms. They clean them very often. The trail is short but a decent trail. They have a playground. Various wildlife all around park. Rangers are very active in keeping park clean and enforcing park rules. Stayed here 4 days camping and our family of 5 enjoyed it and will be back. Camping prices are terrific. Do not expect to get WiFi. It is weak even at office and on campgrounds it does not exist. Lots of beauty scenery and great spot to take pictures.
Jonathan Nichols
Not much to do if you don't go out in the water. Walked one short trail and it was overgrown and no clearly marked. But it was nice to be outside.
Jane Toole
Heads up! The road coming into Lakeshore Campground is horrible and barely usable!
L Machia
Nice state park. Cute playground for kids. Convenient little store on property as well.
wlre radio 96.5 FM
Santee State Park is one of the best areas for camping, fishing, boating, hiking, and having a good time. Weather it's birthday parties, family getaways or just, getting together with friends or swimming at the lake there's always something good to do.
The Wayward Nurse
I loved this park! I went down with my boyfriend to watch the total eclipse, and LOTS of other people had the same idea. The small state park did it's best to deal with the huge amounts of people, and they did pretty well. The grounds were so well taken care of, and the piers were good for fishing. They also had kayak rentals, and they were higher quality kayaks. The lake is beautiful and the rental cabins are beautiful as well.
Charlotte
Love, love, love 💞😘
Fabulous cabin, store, everything! …
Ayaka Eckelberg
nice hiking trails. Peace and quiet
Joan Lease-Clark
Rough road to get to it but worth it
Daniel McGrew
Nice, clean, and open. Very good products and services.
Tia Jones
Love Santee State Park. We've camped here several times and it has always been a wonderful experience. The campground is clean and quiet. The lake is gorgeous and great for all waters ports from just swimming to canoeing or paddle boarding to jet skiing or boating.
Barbara
The cabin was clean and comfortable, check in was fast and friendly, the whole experience was amazing.
Rich Willis
Older state park, but fun to visit. It could use some work on the west-side campground. The one on the east is tighter and closer to the water, but beer and easier to navigate. The crazy part of the west side: 1- you need to drive all the way thru the campground to get to some of the sites, and that is not clearly marked, and 2- the dump station is in the middle of the campground, so you will make that trip around a couple times.
Jonathan Shumpert
Lots of wild life to see very quiet cabins are clean and the fishing on the Pier is great
Alene Wilkins
Nice spot for swimming. The dog enjoyed it as well.
Will Thompson
Stayed at a cabin here for a week and really enjoyed it!
Ed C
We were scouting for future campsites. Most of the campsites were nice and level. The bath houses are convenient to all of the sites. The boat ramp is in good condition. There is something for just about everyone.
S G
Water full of Life, Fun. Clean bit crowded in ta Camp sites. Real thing People are at ease and Smiles.
Marcy L
Campgrounds are not marked that well for people that do not know the park at all to get to the correct campground. Not great for larger trailer, sites we saw are nice but many are difficult to get into if your rig is over 33 ft.
We stayed in lakeshore cg and felt the ground vibrating the whole time
Brittanie Owens
We really enjoyed this camp ground. However there was a kitten shelter right by our camp sight and they would come right up to our tent in the middle of the night. They even managed to eat my dogs food despite the fact that the park rangers feed them. Someone really should try to catch them and take them to the shelter but whatever. Also the bathrooms were freezing and the water took forever to get warm and the hand dryers didn’t even blow hot air. The spot to get in the water was missing 2 of the 4 steps so it was kind of annoying trying to get down to the lake. Lots of good walking if you ignore the fact that the road to the two trails is closed. The roads are rough to walk on and cars drive way too fast down them.
Jan Bass
We visited Santie State Park many years with our children. Great campsites. South Carolina does the best state park system that we’ve been to. Everything was clean daily lots to see. I totally recommend it for a nice Family vacation.
Sean Hanehan
Great place to visit! We camped in the long view side of the park which felt more remote and less busy. Both of which we prefer. The sites were generous in size and with both power and water on site, they were very comfortable as well.
I would note the road and facilities were much older and showed their age when compared to the Cypress campground.
All in all I'd recommend giving this place a shot.
Mike Meador
Nice cabin and park area. No place to fish on shore with kids except pier which is always choppy with boats. Recommend clearing an area at the back end of the cabins on the inlet for some calmer shore fishing. Water level now is so low right now as well.
D Edge
Very quiet and peaceful in the fall. Would definitely go again.
Gerald Erwin
I love it there. I actually just got married there in the community center. Most of our families stayed over the weekend in the cabins they have. The staff was amazing and very helpful. When check out time came we had a big breakfast at one of the cabins. It took way past check out time, they never rushed us or made us feel like we were being rushed. There is a quite of bit of wildlife that you may see. At dusk there are packs of deer that roam the park. It is quite amazing. If you are on a budget and planning on getting married or even a reunion this is a wounderful place to have it. 2 thumbs up!!!
Deborah Rywelski
HOT! Nice, enjoyed our time there. Camp there fairly often. I never visited the shower/restroom area, but our son and his wife said it was horrible! Not clean at all. He timed the cleaning staff yesterday - both mens and ladies rooms - 10 minutes for both.
Philip Verheyen (Phil)
A very well kept state park, have stayed here many times. Friendly staff and park rangers.
Marty Roever
it was very nice to hike and bike ride. we enjoyed staying in the cabins, they were clean and comfortable
Melissa Webster
The roads to the campground are horrible. They need some updating on roads and bathhouse were not clean!!
Robert Chambers
Nice park with camping, cabins to rent, picnic areas and a boat ramp for day use.
Robert Sherman
While I know the height of summer is not the busiest time for the park it would have been nice to have the grass mown in the group camping area. In the heat of summer the high grass is prime chigger habitat so it would have been nice...
Dan Boot
Beautiful place. Only problem was the house behind site 29. The dogs barked non-stop during our stay. Would have been perfect otherwise.
J Something
I've gone several times the past 3 weeks. Walked a little bit more of the 7.5 mile trail each time. Even late at night. There's tons of wildlife. Deer, Squirrels, Owls, Armadillos, Possum and Foxes are some of the things you can see here.
You can also fish on the pier. There's one of those binocular vision things for tourists on the pier as well that costs 25¢ to use, in case you want to look far out on the lake. We used to rent some of their cabins during spring and summer back when I was little. They now have cabins built on the pier.
10/10, will visit again.
Christian Cavanaugh
This was a family tradition started with my grandfather to come here fishing and cooking out. It needs more than just a fishing dock and tables with roofs. This state park is very popular but has not utilized it's full potential, paddle boat rentals, fishing guides, more updated parks, updated cabins, bathrooms. I still visit 2 or 3 times a year, but it's only out of tradition.
pamela hall
Typical state park. It was for one nights stay so not a lot to comment on. Good walking trails for your dog.
Bill Thomas
My wife and I camped here this weekend. The park had good facilities and helpful employees. We hiked several of the trails and saw some interesting wildlife. Camp sites were clean, had water and electricity.
Johnny Mae Holmes
I took my granddaughter there for her birthday...we really enjoyed it...we went wading in the lake...awesome.
Harry Kirschmann
This is a great little State Park! Facilities include campgrounds, about 15 rental cabins on a small Inlet some with boat docking facilities and a public boat launch and fishing dock for a price of about $2 a day. kayak and small boat rentals are also available.
Please remember covid-19 is running rampant in South Carolina, so practice due diligence for your own life and the lives of others. -- Harry
Helen A Dziewik
The roads into the campground was one of the worst I have been on, so many potholes you couldn't miss any of them. No one kept there dogs on a leash and aloud them to pop where every and did not pick it up.
Loretta Divine
Santee State Park is known for fishing and camping. They have nature trails for cycling and hiking. There are 30 villa cabins to rent, some right over the water. The sinkholes are very interesting.
Mrs Sims
We love Lake Marion and the abundance of trees in this park, which we discovered on the internet. CoVid had kept us home in FL since March, and we were looking for a dark place to see stars and autumn leaves within a day’s drive last month. This seemed like the perfect place, since we could rent a cabin for a minimum of two nights at a reasonable price (less than a chain hotel without the bright lights and road noise) with a queen bed, cable TV and WiFi.
We stayed in Cabin 29 last month and Cabin 5 this month. Cabin 29 was almost at at the end of the road of all 30 cabins, surrounded by trees, with a view of the lake. Cabin 5 was the fifth cabin on one of two docks housing 5 cabins over the lake, with a view of the trees behind. We had direct access to our car in #29 and the parking lot with #5 (warning sign about vultures damaging cars in the lot had us worried, but we had no damage).
For star gazing and darkness, #29 was perfect. If we fished or went out on a boat, #5 would have been perfect. But we don’t and it wasn’t. When we return, we’ll request Cabin 30 (darkest of them all & away from everyone). Both cabins were perfect for relaxing - comfortable beds, equipped kitchens for cooking in (29 better equipped than 5), and quiet (but #5 had more foot traffic). Our first cabin was dark; second cabin had a lot of ambient light with lights on the pier, and outside the individual cabins (during our stay the occupants did not turn off their lights after 10PM as requested on note on the switches inside). That’s why it wasn’t perfect this time - light and noise.
While visiting in October, we hiked some of the trails, saw the sinkhole on one hike, saw deers at night when returning to our cabin after dinner, and relaxed. We did more relaxing on our second stay in November, and saw more deer. We have nothing but praise for the Rangers. Every one of the Rangers with whom we interacted on both stats was friendly and helpful. This is a great place to stay if you love communing with nature, but want your TV and WiFi!
Stacy Kloppel
We had a great weekend here with our granddaughters. It's a very nice campground. Plenty of room for the kids to play. We enjoyed it.
Sarah Smithers
Park has a lot to offer for all ages! Great spots to camp or take a day trip
Lori Weathers
This is one of our favorite state parks. The bath houses are not super nice(no ac) but the campground has lots of nice sites. The back capmground is a little more rustic with no paved roads. All in all one of our favorites!
KKTTSS 1
5th or 6th time staying in the cabins. We always enjoy. Very quite. Enjoyed our stay.
Mary Sweatman
kids enjoyed the lake, and we did some hiking.
Slone
Love this park. The manager here Susan, is wonderful and really does a good job working on keeping this park looking as beautiful as possible for people to enjoy. Great destination for fishing and camping.
Shelah Smith
Decided to go visit more State parks. Wanted to continue to get our book marked. Wasn't too crowded. Place was clean.
Consuelo Loftis
Beautiful park cabins on the water!!
Alex Jackson
Beautiful area, and friendly people. Make sure you bring spray for gnats and mosquitoes.
Jill Slowakiewicz
Beautifil setting. Needs roadwork back into the park, but the showers were clean and the lake setting is spectacular. The host was very helpful. We enjoyed exploring Douglas which was close by.
Kayla Abney
Our favorite spot for a relaxing quaint getaway.
Michael Edwards
Beautiful lake. Great place to camp. Anything from tents to large RVs. They have two separate campgrounds in two different locations on the lake. The one furthest from the office is very large and can hold many RVS. Many of the sites are pull through, but some of those are still tight.
Dawn Steiner
Rather nice place although it could use some beautification and maintenance in the camping and bathhouse areas.
THERESSA THERESSA
The view was amazing and very relaxing.you can have cookouts, go fishing, boating, camping , walking and swimming.
Brenda Phelps
Love it here. Park is well kept and clean. Trails are great. The park staff and rangers are friendly and eager to help.
Bethany Cochran
Such a wonderful experience! The staff was so helpful and our cabin was just perfect. We had a great time fishing and hiking. We will definitely be back again soon.
Anthony W. Starks
Went just for the morning view, I use to go to the park regularly, before I got sick a year ago. In recovering stage now, It was very refreshing to feel the fall morning breeze & enjoy the view of Lake Maroin. God & man's developed creations. If you get a chance, please go an take in the view. Enjoy....
cathy barrus
The employees are very friendly and helpful. Our only disappointment was that we were right on the lake, but there is no place to fish except on the pier. It is a beautiful setting, however, so we enjoyed our stay.
Demetrius Howard
Beautiful park with well maintained grounds. Only problem was the bathrooms could use some updates, and if you have a 50 amp coach you may be disappointed. We have a 50 amp coach, and most sites around the lakeshore loop seem to be 30 amp.
Preston Rachel
The pier is pretty cool and the staff is great.
Steve Allred
I reserved a site in Lake Shore side but last minute changed to Cyprus View side. There is a big difference!!!!! Cyprus View was recently updated. All water and electricity were new. Bathhouses were clean. Easy to get in and out of. Camp host was really friendly. Now Lake Shore was a total different story. It was rough rutted roads hard to figure out which sites were which like in another world. Bathhouses were old, actually looked rustic. If I was hiding out from somebody this is where i'd go. Might be what some people are looking for. Overall i enjoyed this place even road 7 mile bike trail. I caught big catfish, clams and saw couple alligators. Wife didn't go this time not sure how well she would've liked.
Vernon Mack
A great place to fish great family oriented place take your family and relax grill whatever you want to do and they upgrade the furniture that brand new appliance new beds in both bedroom new flooring what a great job they did on upgrade at the cabins and only five to seven miles from three grocery stores.
Williamnamanda Boone
A very fun place to visit thay have all kind of fun things to do there. There is a 2 dollar per person fee but it is worth it great for outdoor with family and friends grill outs swimming pet friendly golf cars boat renting kayaks renting you can bring your camper to have an wonderful time i don't know if you can bring tents but i do know you can camp out it is an awesome place to be together with family and friends and to escape away from the world and have a splash blast of your life it is also great to interact with other people go on out there and experience a get away from the world HAVE FUN
Chesapeake Gustin
Super peaceful park by the lake.
Chip Davis
Peaceful. Beautiful and serene. Great hook up for any camper's needs. Family friendly, boating, fishing and water skiing! Kid friendly! Please wear your mask. Thanks!
Lowell Markins
The RV sites in the Cypress View area are very nice with easy access for our 42' fifth wheel. The bathrooms are poorly maintained so we used the one in our RV. The bugs in August were abundant so were are going to try again later in the year. At the dump station the only water is a small spray nozzle with very low pressure.
Brad West
Beautiful and serene park. Bathrooms are OK, hot showers. Gnats are plentiful, bring your Off! One major drawback are the roads. Very bumpy and several potholes. Some spots are in need of repair and tree trimming.
Lauralee Hansen
Our towing vehicle (Jeep Cherokee) had a flat shortly after our arrival. The rangers (Emily & Joe) were able to change it for us which was not easy, & in the hot sun. They were so helpful, friendly, & saved the day for we 2 women who would not have been able to do this.
The lake view was beautiful, & campsites spacious.
Joyce Reese
We really enjoyed our stay at the campground!
Drew Gerber
My family and I travel around the country each year to find a cool, interesting, and fun place to stay for Camp Gerber. This year we went to Santee state park and it was exactly what we hoped for. Even thought we didn't quite see an alligator (because a dead one doesn't count) and we didn't catch any fish but we saw many Santee is a great place to stay. We rented the cabins on the pier and it was a good choice they turned out to be very nice, and at night if you look out at the lake from the pier you can see fish in the light near the corner. We also had some adventures one of the most fun things we did was rent kayaks so we could go into swamp. The kayak rental place was great the lady there was very nice and always had a smile. She also was very knowledgeable of the lake and of where the cool places were. In conclusion Santee state park is a great place to go if you are looking for some adventure and fun outdoors while at the same time have the convince of air conditioning and stuff.
unt and we didn't catch a fish but saw many
Karen McLeod
We stayed in a land cabin. The cabins are clean, but the beds are hard. The kids caught lots of brim fish from the bank. They enjoyed bike riding and going to the park store to get slushies. Luckily these cabins have cable TV for rainy days.
Leann Weathers
We may be spoiled with the Florida State parks, but we found semi-level, crushed gravel, some muddy sites. Easy access to park, campground and site. We stayed in site 39 and it's a great pull through spot with a full, unobstructed (some trees) view of the lake. Campground needs some maintenance. No frills.
Phillip Knopp
Great place to visit and spend time with family and friends. The cottages are usually rented out a year in advance but sometimes you get lucky. The park is huge and beautiful.
Charles Williams
Santee State Park is a great place for a family vacation. The campground is spacious and many of the campsites have lakefront views. They have free WiFi available and ample parking for boaters. The park also has miles of trails, much of which is beside the lake.
Bernadett Shaver
Love this park. Fishing the camping and the cabins are cute they have some cabins on the dock. Slightly fancier than most state parks.
Jen Mccollum
It was a nice park and great fishing park rangers where not very nice we where a little late paying one day when we where there for almost 2 weeks and where told if we didnot pay befor 11 that next time we would be kicked out . we wanted to move spots and stay another 2 weeks because we where waitting on a house and they would rather there be a 100 empty spots then let us move spots and pay for 2 weeks at a time. And if u look at the rules on the web site says u can stay 2 weeka and move sites and stay another 2 weeks but they wanted ua out because we have a normal camper not a 100k camper
Kenneth McCreary
What a nice campground that is right off 95 and only about $25 a night. If it is raining, I must say that it does get a little messy with the dirt campsites. I will visit this place again, as it is very convenient when traveling along Interstate 95 and you need to stop for the night and have campground facilities like electricity and water and sewer.
David Callahan
Nice quite. Place to relax
Teresa Crumley
Quiet and family friendly. Tons of wildlife and nature to see. Each night, deer walked just behind our campsite. You can kayak on the lake or explore Sparkleberry Swamp about 30 minutes away. There is plenty of fishing, swimming, hiking, and biking opportunities. We camped at the Cypressview Campground and woke up to a beautiful view of the lake every morning. The park has 10 cabins that sit over the water and additional cabins for rent too. Two campgrounds are available to choose from as well.
Cory Chamberlin
Nice park stopped and visited from Florida definitely thinking I'm coming back and camping. The lake is whoa huge seems very exciting if owned a boat.
Dottie Johnson
Loved it. Took the Cypress swamp tour. Beautiful.
Tiffany Monhollen
We come here every few months. From about June to September bring major bug spray. We always stay in the cabins. We prefer the land cabins to the water cabins because there is shade and you don't feel the motion of the water. Plus land cabins seem to be a bit larger. We "glamp" in the cabins, so we don't expect it to be a Ritz. If you want that, you don't want a campground. Plenty of places to fish, hike, bike. Plenty of restaurants in town, not too far away. Free WiFi for those that have to have it, or when it rains. Each cabin has a TV, but don't expect it to be state of the art. 19-23" at best. Linens and dishes for 4-6 are provided. Some beds are better than others, but I'm not sleeping on the ground, so all are better than a tent. We love it for a weekend getaway that is not too far from home.
Rhonda Tippett
Roads are horrible.Camp hosts don't clean things up very well.It is by a lake which is beautiful though.
F. Lafontaine
Nice state park, clean, good fishing
Joanna Montes
Is a beautiful and peaceful place. We stay just two nights. Is close to I-95. They have water and electricity for RV. The only drawback to enjoy the place to the fullest were a lot of gnats (beginning of August).
shawn reid
Great place for fishing walking and eating
Sandra Kujawski
Was disappointed that there was a per person charge and not a per car charge.
Was also disappointed that were not more BBQ grills for public use.
But, the restrooms we're decent considering their location.
They have at least 2 boat ramps.
They have hiking trails and fishing areas.
We only saw one area for swimming though.
They also have cabins for rent as well as RV camping. I'm not sure about tent camping but I do think it is possible.
Pastor Arthur Jenkins
I drove through Santee State Park. Nice, quiet place. Looks like a wonderful place for a vacation!
Chuck Berthoud
Nice little Park near I-95 but far enough away that you cannot hear the highway. Campsites are large and reasonably far away from others for a sense of privacy.
Susan Daly
Great family park. Spacious sites
Beverly Barske
Enjoyed a day of fishing on the pier. Very clean park. Will look into renting a cabin on the water for a weekend in the future.
Kenne Sparks
Beautiful park. We camped and had a blast (campground is super clean and well tree covered). There is a canoe and paddle board outfitter right in the park. Lots to do or just sit in the quiet.
Susan Lasley
This park was really cool. Lots of wild life, the lake, trails. We enjoyed one full day of hiking and didn't see the entire park. So the next day we headed out on bikes. Great bike trail. Love the lounge in the camp store. It has TV where we watched March Maddness with other campers. It also has wifi and ice cream. The knats are brutal. I used a combo spray of 1/3 vinegar;1/3 plain amonia; 1/3 water. And sprayed our site down before setting up. It seems to help....
Evalyn Wallingford
We plan to return to stay in their lakeside cabins. So peaceful looking.
Karen Gulrich
Cypress View campground inside Santee State Park has nice wooded sites with a few pull thru but mostly back in sites. Busy on the weekends but quiet during the week with a great small park store at the marina. If you fish this is a great park for access to the lake.
Rich Peck
Great place to fish and see nature. We stayed in one of the cabins on the water. Highly recommended.
Sabrina Padgett
We weren't at the park but on the lake fishing the banks from the boat. Beautiful spring day.
Ron Cayton
Great camping with level and shady sites.
Bring your bikes for the trails.
Deedee Prickett
Not far from home for us. We have a great time each time we go
Wayne C
Beautiful lake view from many angles. But be prepare for mosquitoes. Many people here with fishing rods, so this should be a good local fishing destination.
Susieclues Q
Stayed here in a 27 ft trailer for two days. Many permanent sites where permanent campers talked about you when you walked by saying "they are new" but many non-permanent visitors were very friendly. Camping sites were a little small. Golf carts abound but very quite after 9:00 p.m. Lake was just a short walk and enjoyed the fishing. Small swimming beach (which was littered), a nice inground swimming pool and arcade for kids. May go back for a short camping weekend but wouldn't stay more than a couple of days.
Josh Hirshorn
It's a nice park. Be warned that the roads are very rough for your camper.
Rhonda Aiken
I Love being around the waterfront and it has been awhile since I have visited Santee State Park..and I decided to take a few pictures..I really enjoyed myself.
Elizabeth R
Nice Campsites. Bathrooms were clean. Loved that the state park has a playground for children. Boating and fishing was fun. We saw several deer at the park. A family favorite!
Christopher McCormick
I love it, great location great facility. Good parking for boats truck and trailer
Kionne Spann
I came for my grand nephew's birthday party. We all had an amazing time! We plan to return to go camping since they have a camping ground as well.
Steve Wright
It's a beautiful place to hike and look around and if you are lucky en6to get a cabin it may be better but bank fishing is extremely limited.
Laura Ludwig
Just drove through to check it out. Can't wait to go camping there. Beautiful. Lots of people fishing. Cute, unique cabins over the water!
Melissa Grove
Beautiful park! Nice big camping sites. The lake is beautiful. Lots of birds too. Great place.
Jim Hock
A great stopover on I95. Two campgrounds, one much newer than the other. Electric and water at most sites. Not all sites are open in winter, but never too busy, either. On Lake Marion, and pleasant walking trails of short distance.
Carolyn Maier
Absolutely wonderful, been camping there for years and it's always great. Don't tell anyone though because it's already getting hard to grab a site. Lol
Elizabeth Parker
Love it here. Grounds are clean. Staff is friendly. We have a cabin rental in March 2022. We have also camped here in our camper. 💜💜 …
Charles Flanery
Unfortunately this park has gone downhill. Grass was overgrown, attrackting all kinds of critters including snakes which we had come into our campsite. Ants everywhere. We have been going to this park for years but after this experience I doubt if we ever go back. Bathrooms were terrible very, very sad
Deloris Green
Very nice cabins and beautiful river..Enjoyed visit very much.. would recommend for all camping lovers..
Denise Everard
Enjoyed the park so much. Only complaint is there are so many dogs that walking from my pup to restrrom you just smelled poop. Plus when people left their pets alone they barked nonstop for hours.
robert taylor
There seems to be some confusion about Santee State Park. It does not have a swimmng pool or an arcade, nor are there any permanent resident sites. It is a STATE PARK. It is very nice, clean and quiet. They do not rent canoes, kayaks, or boats. Nor do they advertise that they do. If you write a review, please be sure where you are writing about. The facilities are as good as any state park in the country, Nice rental cabins for those who don't camp.
Stephanie Delano
Great family place to hike, swim and fish. I recommend some swim shoes because the clams and shells will cut your feet.
Amy Perkins
Beautiful camping as usual at this park! We will definitely come back!
Gennie Caulder
We camp here several times a year. Staff and rangers are super nice. We prefer the older side because it is more natural. Have already camped here twice this year.
L Boseman
Loved the little cabin, or whatever they call it, very clean and smelled great. Great fishing and the area we stayed was nice and quiet. We will be back.
David Aston
Took my little girls swimming at state park great day highly recommend
James4489
Great campground. I especially luv that the sites are spaced out and not huddled together like other places. Great price too
Patrick Harvey
Nice cabin's on the water, not much to do but fish and if you don't have a boat you're not going to catch much.
I recommend the chinese place in town
Todd Jacobs
Great people! Beautiful location! Convenient to food and fuel!
Rogers RailRoad Productions
Always someplace to just get away for a few hours or day.Food all around.Bring a towel. You will sweat but the water and trails are always worth it. Pull your boat out and cruise or fish.Someplace to bring the kids to play or birthdays!
David Willoughby
Clean park, overnight stay, the cabin had everything, coffee maker, utensils, pots pans, towels, soap. WIFI. Walk out the door and go fishing. Nice place, we've been here a couple of times and we'll be back.
Sarah Tyler
It is absolutely breathtaking.. I spent Memorial Day week there and had an amazing time.. I'm booked again.. Fishing, Boating, Just an all round beautiful place..
Robin McAliley
Very peaceful park. Clean cabins, and friendly staff.
Renee Stewart
Great camping and fishing. Could use some work on the road to one of the loops. It's all very rustic and beautiful. Lots of trees. Good price
Donald Brock
Coffee maker had mold in it.refrigerater didn't keep the food cold or the ice cream frozen.no security person in park.not enough boat trailer parking spaces.no game warden or water enforcement officers.my cabin had roaches.but the cabin was clean and the place was very quiet.
Lisa Smith
I would've given it 5 stars other than the campground host is unqualified for his job. He doesn't have any manners nor any skills on how to communicate properly with people.
Ms Mam
ABSOLUTELY amazing time camping. Bath houses could use a update. But enjoyed my stay
Susan Koester
Nice park with mostly level sites, water and elec only at sites, WiFi at the clubhouse. Lots of trails and walking but can only fish from the dock due to vegetation along shore. Nice store and interpretive center. Would have given 5 stars but the bathrooms were in bad, bad shape.
Mark Burton
Great camping with lots of walking trails
Brad Detandt
Beautiful state park. Only wish would be for the swimming area to be a little larger. Will definitely go back!
Florence Teter
We love to camp at Santee State Park. I only have one complaint I feel they should give all military vets discounts.
Vincent Rigor
I really like this lake. It's huge with plenty of exploring. But I've only been through a fraction of it by kayak and paddle board. Definitely deserving of an overnight trip.
Tina Correia
I loved it here. So peaceful
Palma Luppi
In Cypress View section, sites roomy, clean, gravel. Right on Lake Marion. Roads paved. Restrooms old and tired. Clean, but tiles missing, worn -- not comfortable. Host very nice. Lots of gnats (we visited late August).
Janice Richard
I absolutely loved it. I have been several times and everyone was polite and helpful. The cabins were clean and well supplied. Beautiful view and the store has anything u need.
Michael James
It rained the entire time so I can't give a good or bad review. The staff was nice and respectful when we had an issue, but other than that I cant say anything else.
Lori Pinkham
We camped for the night. Great park. The lake is huge. Very clean and friendly people. Didn't do any hiking in here.
Michelle Agnitti
Beautiful sunset views.
Darla Wells
We camped in Cypress View campground. Beautiful park right on the water. Our site was fairly level with plenty of space.
Daniel Smyth
Very nice campground, employees so friendly, accommodating & welcoming.
Will certainly be back & spend more time here to enjoy the park.
Beenthere Donethat
Never been there but I hear it's nice
Candy Alfred
While visiting Santee, SC we spent a day at Santee State Park. We picnicked and fished.
Very nice setting. The lake is just beautiful.
Joseph Gumeny
Really cool cabins. Great fishing and camping. Big lake! Pretty "buggy" in July, especially with all the recent rain.
Joe McCranie
Lots of stuff to do...trail hiking, biking trails, boat rentals..kayak/canoe, fishing dock, boat ramp, baut and tackle shop, nice cabins on rhe water, meeting shelters, beach, camping for tent and RV, and rhe place is clean and maintained well. Great place for family outings to enjoy the outdoors.
Janet Ellis
We camped at Cypress View campground and had a great time. We took a boat tour on Lake Marion and really enjoyed it. We plan to go back next year.
Patricia Sherrerd
Beautiful Park we didn't catch any fish but had a good time
Joseph Gregorie
Excellent place to camp ! One of our favorite places!
Vicki Hanson
Loved our trip of just relaxing, walking, kayaking, eating and sleeping. Ahhh! This is mainly a boaters, fishers and kayakers paradise. Very small Beach area. Very quiet.
Jim Lynch
Beautiful park with nice campsites. Secluded area's right by the lake. The bathrooms however need a complete overhaul.at least in the tent camping area.
Arie Stitches
We love the state park. Prices are reasonable and it waant crowded. The boat docks are nice and easily accessible
Jim Guld
Nice site backing in with the lake down the hill. Electric and water.
Debbie Driscol
Great lake with great amenities. People fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, playing tennis, bbqing, and camping. Great parks office and store!

Cyrus Gilchrist
Super cool place. Watch out for water moccasins. Other than that its super safe, family friendly. Kayaking, fishing, camping and cute simple cabins. I'll be back.
Suntzu Williams
This is a great park and campground. I'm hesitant to give it too good of a review because I don't want a bunch of competition getting a spot . 😀 …
DANIEL Carter
Very large body of water to view in a clean safe setting. Beautiful and plenty of parking. I enjoy it.
Sabrina Arledge
Definitely a treat to stay the weekend or week. Great place to unplug and relax.
Heather Heflin
Always love visiting Santee State park! Last year had a campsite and this year had a cabin. Staff was very pleasant and helpful.
L R
Right on the water. Opportunity to rent boats just down the road. Great fishing. But during the off season three isn't much to do and the town is very quiet.
