Reviews of Paris Mountain State Park
N Zen
What a wonderful park! I stayed in the campground for 5 days, didn't have a chance to do much exploring as I was visiting family, but I will def be back. There are numerous trails for pedestrians and cyclists. A gorgeous lake for swimming and boating. There is a designated swimming area that is quite small and not very deep, but still refreshing and plenty of fun. The beach is not accessible, there are a bunch of stairs and no ramp, although it's possible I missed it. The lake had free lifejackets folks could use and pedal boat and kayaks for rent.
Abigail Korfmann
Great experience, accessible trails, pretty scenery.
Everything was well maintained, and they even had fishing poles and tackle in the visitor's center you can use for free.
We took the trail around the lake, and it was very easy to walk, with lots to see. I really loved the dam and the bridges. There is so much to do here I will definitely be coming back.
Maritza Magallanes
Beautiful park. It has many different trails. You can challenge yourself. Some of the paths are for only people walking. Other treks you share with mountain bikers. Personally, the trails were too busy for me. I constantly had to stop to let bikers pass me. Overall an excellent adventure.
Navin Beharry
Beautiful state park with lots of parking. The booking trails are easy to moderate. You can rent paddle boats for two and swim in the lake near the first Lake.
David Wolfe
Been here a couple of times. Great State Park. Camping section is small, but there seems to be a great rotation of campers in and out. Sights are limited for large RVs. We camped we a 30' RV trailer. We'll camp here again
Mark Burch
This place is very beautiful and peaceful. We stayed at the campground with our dogs. Hiking trails are great. The park office is pretty and inside, there is great information on the park's history. Since we can't in fall. They paddle boats and kayaks were closed. Lots of couples, families, and pets around. Park staff is really nice as well. Several Adirondack chairs by office facing the lake to relax in.
Heather Winters
Really enjoyed this hike. It is an easier trek for an inexperienced hiker. It does have a limited store and there is one EV charger in the park but at the very bottom of the park near the cabins.
Robert Mueller
This park is absolutely gorgeous. It's near the top of the mountain. It's $6 a person. They are open from 8am-8pm. We went at 7:30pm. We spent 90% of our time at Lake Placid because it was just beautiful. The water fall was fantastic. There is a horse ranch just outside the property line which is visible from the lake. The house is amazing. There is a nice gift shop at the park as well. This a great park for taking a relaxing walk or reading.
I very seriously recommend this park.
Irene Petrov
The park has several hiking and biking trails with difficulty levels from 1 to 10, depending on terrain condition and elevation change. Trails go through beautiful surroundings, under huge trees and blooming bushes, some – along the cool babbling creek with occasional waterfalls and rapids. Admission fee. Enjoyed strenuous hike of category 9 up the hill and relaxed return down on a wide smooth dirt road. Great views all along the way!
Trudy Heywood
This park is hilly and so fun! It's easy enough for young hikers and hard enough for experienced hikers. It has a beautiful lake for picnics, kayaking, or pedal boating. They also have free concerts. One outdoor theatre, that you have to hike to reach, is in a beautiful setting.
Wayne T Whaley
We hiked one of the trails and it was fun. The dam is a good place to stop and breathe and take pictures. There is the lake which has water access and paddle boating. The gift shop has a 3d map of the entire park inside also. Great design and very helpful staff.
Christa La Capra
Quiet and serene beautiful park. Swimming area with a little beach, rental paddle boats, plenty of picnic tables and bbq grills. Clean bathrooms, cute little gift shop and free little library.
Ivette Salinas
Beautiful place to spend time with friends and family. I highly recommend this place if you want to fish ( you will need to fishing license ) also this is a great place to hiking, boating, camping and swimming. You have to pay $7 to enter.
Jeffrey Cone
Nice state park. When you come make sure you bring plenty of leveling blocks. Even the spots labeled slight incline are pretty unlevel. Lots of hiking trails and geocaching. Some of the roads and spots can be a little tight if you have a big camper. Very friendly park rangers and staff. Bathhouses we're clean but dated compared to others. We will be back!
M. Aguilar
Very convenient state park to Greenville (15 min) with green canopy trails to explore on foot or mountain bikes. NOTE-the rangers do NOT hand out maps! So either down load the QR code at entrance, take a photo of a map or purchase one at the visitor center! We did the Brissy Ridge trail clockwise & climbing out of two creeks was steep! Parking is very, very limited as you go farther up the road (think 3-6 spots) & heed the warning sign if you are pulling anything!! MTB users should be aware that some trails are a combo of hike/bike, or only hike, can be rocky/steep in sections & Saturdays are reserved for hiking. Camping w/a long trailer could be a challenge due to the twisty campground road (only 6 pull thru sites). Bathrooms were clean & plan on a hilly hike to go anywhere outside the campground. Glorious in the fall! 4 stars only for the very, very limited parking, so if coming on the weekend-you were warned!!
JulieBird
Absolutely stunning. I wish we had more time. Plenty of Picnic areas. Cool hiking and views. Highly recommend.
bridget devine
Perfect little 1 mile hike. I'm disabled and don't typically get to see views like this but the trail was well groomed and flat. Very well kept and beautiful scenery.
Abracadeborah Smith
All I can truly say about the state park is WOW! It's small enough that every now and again you run into another person but large enough that's is more of a choice. The mountain views, the Rivers, Lakes are just a few of the amazing things you will see here. The word Majestic comes to mind repeatedly. The walking and climbing trails are rugged but they're well worth the effort. The trail around Lake Placid is absolutely beautiful.
Jeff Auerhamer
If Falls Park is the crown jewel of downtown Greenville, then Paris Mountain State Park is the king's throne. A beautiful state park nestled in the dense trees and lakes, on a mountain, in the middle of the city. One turn and three minutes you go from downtown restaurants on city streets to a mountain forest with hiking trails. Also, like Falls Park it is rooted in Greenville's earliest history. Richard Pearis, the first white man to make his home in the area, to no coincidence married a native Cherokee tribeswoman. The Cherokee natives gave much of the land that became Greenville to Pearis, including Paris Mountain. The misspelling of the mountain occurred somewhere along the way. The most common version of an old local tale goes: "The chief of the indwelling Cherokee tribe tried to protect the land, and when he grew old, he passed on the responsibility to his daughter and her husband. The husband failed in this task and sold the mountain. In anger, the daughter of the chief killed her husband." No rumors of his ghost haunting the trails or campgrounds so feel free to explore!
Abby Smith
Great little state park for quick getaways into the woods! Quite a few hiking trails covering all levels of hiking. Two pretty lakes too. Definitely a family friendly environment and pet friendly too!
Chris Brathe
This is specific to the Sulphur Springs trail. Beautiful. Peaceful. Great hiking. Parking capacity could be improved . Trail was well maintained. Some sections were fairly technical. This a a solid trail if 1) you’re in fair shape (minimum) 2) You have good balance. 3) You’re sure-footed. Not for someone with mobility issues. Roots, rocks, and elevation changes make it intermediate - level in my opinion.
Fernando “Nando Fresco” Montiel
The short hike after the main entrance that loops around the lake is a great way to get the flood pumping. Great views of the lake and waterfall.
Christine Phipps
Beautiful. Challenging hikes!! I did the full loop hike of Sulpher Springs, and it was rough but good! Loved the old dam!!
Jamie Wilhelm
We camped here all weekend and LOVED it!!!
Lots of trails, a beautiful lake. Wonderful little spots to have a picnic or enjoy sitting on a swing and listen to the water babble on by.
It is spring so the leaves aren't out yet, but once the trees fill in the campsites are probably pretty private. And the campground was quiet. The tent pad had quite a few rocks, but it was level.
The bathrooms were clean, stocked and had good hot water!
The park rangers were friendly & helpful and made staying there easy.
We look forward to coming back!!
**update**
We stayed here for another weekend - awesome camping, hiking!
Lauren Avila
A beautiful place to enjoy a day. Tons of places to picnic with family/friends. Overall, just a great park with a ton to do.
Mikayla
Beautiful park to spend an afternoon. They charge per person for entry fee but pedal board were only a $5 flat fee. Once you’re in you can use the lake for free to swim. There are leeches in the lake, beware.
La'Conya Manuel (MissOnTheMic)
Pros: 2 trails, waterfalls, grill area, paddleboats
Cons: tree roots on trail, more signs needed, wider trail would be good, more seating areas along trail
Kayla Rae
Lots of families! The park was clean and the trails open and well kept. There are also areas to fish as well as a stone amphitheater
Mary Britto
Nice hike
A lot of uphills … made my knees ache but very shaded and a great walk with kids. We had a lot of fun
Peg friendly …
I do wish they had better parking considering the camp grounds the number of trails.
Robert Brown
Great location, downtown Greenville is less than 15 minutes away. Excellent cell service. We camped for a week but we went downtown three times while we were there. No issues getting in and out of Greenville. If you go, try Halls Chop House… excellent meal!!!
There are tons of trails for hiking, beautiful beach area for the family, and the campground is nice. The campground is not huge, but it’s nice. The campground host Butch and his wife(sorry, I can’t remember her name) we’re welcoming and friendly. Everyone was Dog-Friendly!!!! We couldn’t have asked for a nicer stay.
Dan Andre
Nice restrooms, and camp sites. Enjoyed the beach area too. Hiiking was awesome!
Jeff Stovall
Wonderful park for hiking of all skill levels. Paddle boats, kayaks, fishing poles, and camping.
Brian Caruso
A well maintained state park with trails for every experience level.
Their Music in the Woods series is unique treat.
Matthew Williams
So convenient and close to the house. The kids loved it, the views were amazing, and it was awesome to spend time with not a lot people around.
Jes Shoup
This is a gorgeous state park with nice facilities and great trails. Come early on the weekends, the park often fills up before noon.
Jacob Milam
This is a beautiful park with great hiking not too far out of Greenville. There can be somewhat difficult areas but overall it's a pretty easy hike with great views throughout it. When we went the leaves had just started to change colors so it was perfect!
Theresa Berger
The altitude got the best of me...(I'm a low country native)...we managed a drive thru of the grounds and walked the short trail around the lake (near office).
Michel St-Amand
Took my wife and two kids for a day here (10yr old boy, 13/girl). Started with a hike around the lake, kids didn't care for that but the waterfall was nice, then spent a few hours by the lake, water was nice and refreshing and the beach was shady and clean. We decided to do some hiking and found the brizy ridge loop to be perfect. The level 9 part was not too bad and both kids were able to do it without issue. The loop took us almost 2 hours and we all loved it! This was our first time hiking as a family. The trial is nicely labeled but make sure to have a map!
Emily Gettys
Fun little state park convenient to Greenville! There are some good trail options that aren't too strenuous and all pretty family friendly. Keep in mind that you have to pay per person, not per car so the states park pass for SC is a smart investment if you plan to frequent Paris Mountain State Park.
Elaine Williams
This is my happy place. It's safe, with ranger residences all throughout. It has plenty of public restroom areas, a lake for summer paddle boating, walking trails and hidden treasures such as a beautiful brook. If you have littles, it's a great place to do a family treasure hunt! Go by colors, or textures or time of year...no matter, you'll have fun and spend time amongst the trees!
no running network
Amazing park went twice this week and still didn't see half of the park and we booked an appointment with. @piercings by Jeff theimpaler ! On fb
Brittani Tittus
I love it here. Lots of trails to hike. Kid friendly ones too, a big swimming whole that's open during the summer time, and the road to the top is super windy. I love driving on roads like that. If you do too and don't wanna go too far this is definitely the place for you!
Erica Bumgarner
I got married at the Camp Buckhorn Venue over this past weekend. To say I thoroughly enjoyed and was quite pleased. The pricing, the privacy, and the cabins were fantastic. To have access to the Lodge for cooking big meals for my wedding guests that stayed over night, was warranted! I highly recommend. The only downfall is not having a complete access to the venue until 3pm on check in day and have to get out by 11am. It should align to same check in and out times, if people are paying such a large amount to rent out this space. Otherwise, I highly recommend!
Jeremey Arevalo
Not a bad park. The trails are nice and well marked.
The park gets busy and parking can be an issue, so it may be a good idea to arrive early. We had to drive around a bit to find a parking spot.
I'm going to give this park a 3 star because the gentleman working the entrance was not helpful or patient when asked questions. Sadly, he was my first impression of the park and he shaped my experience.
Cathy
The staff were incredibly accommodating while I was there. It was quiet, the restroom and shower areas were clean and smelled fresh. The actual sites are not as private as I prefer, but I liked that all sites had water and electricity. The proximity to the downtown area is nice for sightseeing.
Cassandra Gaskins
My daughter and I enjoyed our visit at Paris Mountain State Park. She enjoyed the beachside lake swim and we hiked around the pond. There was a gentleman there with a Bluetooth speaker and great tunes jamming while we relaxed and had a good time. Great way to start our vacation 🙌 …
Karen Brewer
The trails are beautiful. Such interesting information from the past. The rangers helped us identify some things we seen on the trails. Cute little gift shop. The receptionist was so friendly and helpful
Rick Valenta
What a great campground, lots of trails, things to do, etc.
Michael Kelly
A personal favorite for most in the upstate. Paris Mountain has ample space for all your hiking/biking and camping needs. Tons of scenic trails that cross all over the park, perfect for mountain biking or even road biking. Great little reservoirs to fish in and in the summer they also allow swimming in some areas!
Tony Conte
Beautiful state park and campground. Water and electricity at each site, donation based firewood. Extremely clean bathrooms and showers at the campground. Very nice hiking trails lake to swim and paddle in, amphitheater that hosts small music venues etc. Right in the city of Greenville close to everything the city has to offer.
Bryce Safrit
You can find a variety of beautiful hiking trails here. Take a quick stroll around Lake Placid one afternoon with the family. Or take Sulphur Springs to get a good workout!
Keep in mind that you can get an annual pass for all SC parks for $99 if you enjoy it.
Jerry Bolding
Me and my wife and late dog savanna love coming here to camp and fish. We was the campground host for a few months and loved every bit of it. Dan the park ranger was good to us. We gave people their tags. And we clean up the restrooms and camp sites. We love meeting new people every weekend and every day.they have 40 sites one Handicap site in front of the bathroom. They have walking trails bike trails three ponds theater and a little gift store. One like you can swim and playground for the kids and a field so you can play soccer football and whatever you want to play and picnic shelters to. PS the bathroom campgrounds have showers in them.
Carrie Fisher
A great place to visit and we are lucky to have so many amazing state parks near us. Our favorite hike is the trail around the lake. Easy hike too and great for kids!
Eduardo Tesi
Amazing park perfect for good hiking. My family loved to visit here!
Dale M
Love to ride my bike on the trails at PMSP but as of lately the trails are washed out and need maintenance.
Heather
We hiked Sassafras path - it was not too hard but a good hour hike with about 3/4 being uphill.
Denis LeBlanc
Beautiful park just outside Greenville. Very popular for mountain biking and hiking. Great little swimming lake with a beach and grassy picnic area. Quiet campground in the thick woods, good for both tenters and small to medium RVs.
kayla soulsby
Beautiful! The park was not crowded at all. My two boys (4 & 11) managed two of the trails with ease and even found a nice creek to splash around in!
Tobias Grüner
Very nice park close by from Greenville Downtown. Good but easy hiking trails. Also offers many opportunities for other activities like paddling, fishing or camping.
Jonathan Nichols
Kids had lots of fun on nature walks and climbing on trees. Park staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Visited our site and gave us some tips on camping.
Debra Roinestad
Beautiful hiking trails and scenic views.
Tilly Lo
One of my best hikes... Lake Placid is pretty. It also has a dam that you can walk up to, a great photo op. There is a historic bridge by the lake that was interesting to learn about. We took the Lake Placid Trail to Mountain Creek Trail and looped back around onto Turtle Trail and to Lake Placid to get a longer hike. The trails are very well marked, and clean. My girls (i.e. pups) had a great time hiking this trail, and I really enjoyed the scenery. Look out for the cyclists on the Mountain Creek Trail... they zoomed by very fast. Admission to the park is per person = Adult $6, Ages 6-15 $3.50, under 5 is free and SC Seniors $3.75. This park is very dogfriendly, and everyone I encountered during my hike was very friendly. There is a restroom located near the historic bridge.
Scott Moffett
Great family destination.Nice lake, playground, and hiking trails. Also very nice pavilions for rent during the week and free on weekends. There is a small fee to enter.
anita minong
This place is good for hiking… theres a lot of route to walk to while enjoying the ambiance. Definitely gonna visit again. 6$ for entrance is not bad at all
K Davis
Admission price to the park is $6.00 per adult. We were there only to go hiking. We went on the Sulphur Trail and it was very strenuous. Although the trail was hard at first, we had a blast and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, especially the waterfall and creeks !! The park was clean and the staff was very friendly. Definitely plan on visiting the park again!! Seen a couple of turtles too.🐢🐢
Victoria Arnold
Great hiking trails! Gate attendants were very nice. The campground is some what hard to drive through as it's very narrow. Kind of hard with a 25ft travel trailer. But we'd probably go back again.
Veronica Miller
Casual hiking in a beautiful setting. The dam is really cool and the history behind the entire park is interesting. The gift shop is adorable and cozy and the bathrooms were clean!
Paul Winston
Beautiful state park near Greenville SC. Built by the CCC in the mid 1930's. Lots of hiking trails from easy to strenuous. Several lakes. Come. Spend a day or camp.
Harold Frohnheiser
We walked a few of the trails. The park was very clean. The restrooms were very clean. The only thing that would have made it better was if the trails were designated for hikers or bikers separately.
Sarah E. Davis
We visit this park regularly with our dog, and we absolutely love it! It's a great place for hikes (short or long), camping, mountain biking, and water activities. You can reserve shelters online for group gatherings for a reasonable fee.
It does cost a few dollars per person to get into the park. We recommend buying a state park pass for the year. With how often we visit, the price is more than worth it!
Ann White
It was a beautiful place to go check out with the family! Someone sweet in the area happened to pay for our admission just for letting them in line to get in. We'll be sure to visit again next time we're in the area and go on another trail!
Jolene Smith
Beautiful, scenic family destination! I would definitely recommend making this trip. Campers, beware of tight roads & sharp curves on your way in & out.
Sean Kirschner
We loved this park, but it’s too bad that SC allows hateful, racist traitors to fly their colors inside state campgrounds/parks. Sure does ruin it for the rest of us true patriotic Americans. Not a good look SC.
Lauren Morris
Such a beautiful park. We only went for the hiking trails since it was too cold to camp but we had a wonderful time. We can't wait to come back in the summer for camping, fishing, and kayaking.
Cindy Moldovan
Easy walk/hike. Take the kids/family. Take your time and savor this lovely little stare park. A picnic is a must! BBQ pits. Picnic tables. Hammock. Swim. Relax. Enjoy every moment.
Tyler Tuckfield
Wonderful park! Great hike if you have little kids as well. Beautiful views. Beautiful park in local greenville SC.
ConLi Stueber
First time visiting since we moved to SC in October. Absolutely adore this place. Tons of trails and super family friendly.
Logan
I love this place because it like takes you back in time it seems like and it's very majestic there's a certain spirit around the area that just makes you feel good it's very peaceful especially if you want to take a little hike
Ernie Ballard
This is the closest State Park to Greenville. (city) Great place to go hike, camp, swim, fish, paddle boat, ect! Great place to spend a weekend or close enough to go and spend a afternoon after work! Trails aren’t too strenuous and range from 3/4 mile or you can combine some for longer hike up to 10+miles! Most trails are bike accessible Monday-Thursday. 3 lakes 2 you can park pretty close to and the third is a couple mile hike. Fishing rules are posted! There are plenty of picnic tables and grills and shelters if you are having a large event. The camping are is nice. There are around 40 sites and they have electric and water. Some are pull thru and others cave tent pads! All site are not far from the rear rooms. From personal experience you go pick a site that is not spoken for on the board they have then go back to the store to check in. So yes they have a store and information center where you can find out almost anything you need to know! Also the website is a good source of information! Get outside check it out something to do for everyone! have fun!
Ashley
Beautiful place, but online it doesn't mention anything about paying per person and then they charge $2 for a non detailed map. The maps should've definitely be free with each admission I think. Overall the park its self it pretty!
Anna Deel (Anna Deel Century 21)
This was a nice park that had a small beach area and lots of easy trails. I saw they normally allow paddle boats out to rent which I thought was super cool! $6 for each adult to enter just FYI.
doree bonello
Nice walk in the woods. Easy trail. Picked a good day. Only saw 3 bikes and no hikers.
DLynn Rochelle
I live in the area and I can’t believe I have overlooked this jewel for this long!
The five dollar entrance fee is what always stopped me from visiting the park.
Since my first visit October 2019, I have returned to the park and gladly paid five dollars to hike the beautiful trails ladened with Autumn colors!
Time to buy an annual pass.
#Happyhiker
Kimberly Craver
Park was nice and trails were maintained very well. With being a huge park they had many trails to pick from of different levels. Parking around the park is horrible. Not enough for the amount of people that enter. Only other problem I had they don't have any trash cans anywhere. Because of this we saw lots of trash in places people just found spots.
Prakash Umbare
Good trails..you can spend whole day here...best for hiking & cycling ...having play area for children's and holly ball court....just had more fun due to all assembled in one place. Boating in summer will add more fun
DJ&PF FitzGerald
Very nice, peaceful campground. Clean, reasonably modern bathrooms with hot showers. Wonderful hiking trails throughout the park!
Stephanie Neely
Great place for a day hike! Perfectly located within minutes of downtown Greenville. Family and dog friendly. A SC Park Pass allows you entry for a year. Definitely a less expensive option than a gym.
Evelyn Johnson
Nature trails , they are named ,and all are beautiful.Ampitheater live music. Pic nic areas are a plenty. Playground for children.
Wonderful day of family fun. Enjoy the water in summer, let's not forget the paddle
Boats. This is a place to enjoy year-round.
Small fee for enterance. Clean restrooms, drink machines. Park is always clean, ample parking.. Take your family or go alone. This will be a place in my opinion everyone will enjoy.
Sarah Taylor
Beautiful hike! Definitely an amazing place with beautiful views we will for sure be back again!!
Hay Bull
Moved to SC a few months ago and immediately bought a state park pass (Worth it if you plan on going 10 times in a year. Otherwise its $5 to enter the park). Paris Mtn., being so close to Greenville, was the first stop. There's a beautiful lake and several hiking trails. Generally low traffic on the trails when I've been on weekdays. Sulfur Springs is a quick climb up if going clockwise, which I prefer, and follows along a creek and takes you by a neat dam. Have hiked all but Mountain Creek Trail. Highly recommend walking around North Lake, an easy hike but adds quite a bit of time to overall hike.
Treasure “GOLD” Hennessy
We had a blast on the trails!
There is a swimming/kayak option on Lake Placid. We decided to pack a picnic & go geocaching - there are 3 easy geocaches (you'll just have to dnld the app)
Alice Oneder
Great trails, nice guides, rangers present, noce place to swim, kayak, paddle boat, canoe on weekends for now. Nice places to step off path and hang a hammock by running water and read a book. Want to bring my rv back here sometime. Our doggo loved it too. Lots of shade. Pack in and pack out. Not many trash receptacles. We only did one trail bc oir dog was acting up but it was gorgeous. Many ways in and out.
Hayden Smith
Great leisurely hiking and awesome scenery. Grounds are well kept and clean. Would recommend for all ages and families.
Bill Smith
Buy a yearlong Parks Pass for $99 online or at any park. They also have a nice swimming hole, gift shop, and boat rental.
BROWN
I really enjoyed the company even at the park however, the park rangers should not be writing parking tickets. Especially when it's definitely not enough parking space for the area we were assigned please let's be more professional.
Layla Cunningham
Incredible little slice of heaven just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Greenville. The history about how this park came to be is very interesting. Be sure to see the dam and the rangers office for information and maps.
Wayne C
Super family friendly. Our young ones (4 of them) effortlessly hiked around the scenic lake. Close proximity to Greenville makes it a great choice for an evening stroll. But no real elevation in the landscape so don't expect grand views of the city or other mountains.
Lisa Blanchard
Be aware there's an admission price of $5 per person. We found this place online and decided to visit on the fly, but the website doesn't make the admission obvious. Beautiful scenery, but it's poorly signed. The website shows waterfalls but there was no mention of them or signs for them inside the park. The lake is lovely.
Christina Dudley
We loved this place! Had a great time camping in our RV. We went in December. We look forward to coming back when the lake is open.
Greg Jones
A short drive from Greenville, the lake and dam were nice with a short hike around them. Spent the night at the campground. The spots were not on top of each other. The bathrooms were clean. Even though the campground was fully booked, it was still quiet at night. Maybe a little too quiet as we did not hear any crickets. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone had a dog.
Adam Tuiletufuga
Paris Mountain, like many SC State parks, is nice and a joy to walk/hike through. We enjoyed the Mountain Creek & Placid Lake Trails, which were relatively clear and very walkable. Only gripes/notes are that there isn't a lot of parking further up the mountain, making it difficult to start the trails up that direction. Will be returning to try out the other trails. **Be sure to see their online sources for maps that include trails and relative difficulties and for updates on any trail closings!
David Button
Great trails. Peddle boat & kayak rentals were fun. Cool off in the water!
Peter Sayles
Gotta a great site, across from air conditioned bathhouse with Greenville a short drive away. Nice trails, swimming etc. Will be back.
Noel Richardson
It was beautiful. We walked 5.8mi and I thought that I was getting heat stroke, but it was very fun and I am currently very happy.
Five out of five, I will be back (with water next time).
Ryan Hyde
Beautiful Campground. Great Hiking and Mountain Biking. Bathrooms are excellent. Some sites need additional leveling gear, though website for reservations is accurate with good pictures so you'll know before you go.
A must for hikers and mountain bikers.
John Denton (uberg33k)
Great place! Beautiful scenery and bathrooms everywhere.
Definitely check it out in advance if you have a camper. The spots can be a little small, close to trees, and not level.
Glory Cone
Wonderful state park in the heart of Greenville. Lots of trails and a beautiful lake.
Johnny Dale
Great place for a hike! They have multiple trails with varying difficulty and lengths. Great experience.
Andrea W
Beautiful park with great trails, views, and water spots to swim and enjoy!
Travis Lancaster (Trap)
Love hitting the trails here! Beautiful place to get out & walk around! We used to come here every year for Easter. Been coming over 25 years. So peaceful.
D Hare
Very clean park, nice hosts for the campground. Lots to do.
Anu Chitrangana
Nice place for hiking. Cost is $6 per person.

Beautiful park with many facilities and amenities. Great place to hike and fish, mountain biking is allowed on most trails, however, Saturdays are for hikers only according to the trail maps.
The park has many camping sites for tents and trailers/RVs. Tons of large pull-through sites for larger trailers. The small lake has a section for swimming as well as paddle boats for rent ($5 for 30 minutes.
The park was clean and well maintained.
Beth Borromeo
Beautiful state park real close to downtown Greenville. Great sights but some pretty hard trails! For experienced hikers only
Katie Poterala
Nice park, nice trails at a variety of levels.
I got married at camp buckhorn and it was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful, although I recommend you keep good records or receipts on hand if you book space at the park to avoid hiccups.
Convenient to town and a great quick escape to the woods.
Barb
We were visiting from out of town and needed an outdoor activity for the day. Paris Mountain was perfect. We hiked Sulphur Springs Trail, took a kayak around the lake, Splash in the water and set on the beach reading a book for a while, took a leisurely walk around Lake Placid and had a picnic. Everyone we encountered was so kind and helpful. When we arrived at 10 a.m. to park was extremely crowded. I assumed later this is because many locals come there to walk or bike the trails. At 12:30 when we came off our Trail the whole park was a lot less crowded
Andy Finley
Beautiful state park. I love it for the ability to trail run, as there are a multitude of options for variety in your run. The camping is legit too, it books up fast so plan in advance if you’re doing the trail side camping (must be called ahead in order to reserve a spot with the rangers office)
Dwight
Nice series of trails would recommend for those into hiking and close by.
MA Schwamb
Nice and peaceful. Swimming in the lake was fun but left some algae marks on us afterwards.
J B
Great stay! Lots of trails. Campsites are not real level. Tent sites are level.
Nikole C.
Incredibly beautiful park, plenty of trail options to choose from for walking or biking.
Mark Davis
Great place to hike. I didn't know how big this park is...and beautiful.
Ashley A
This place is very beautiful the only bad thing is it was cold and raining but we were on vacation and not willing to let that stop us from having fun hiking to beautiful waterfalls and taking In the wonderful views of the trees and landscapes i highly recommend coming to this place
Wesley Flatt
It was a pretty neat place with lots of nature trails to choose from. All the trails were very well marked, even color coded!
Yadira Obando
Great place to cool off in the lake, clean, the paddle boat is cheap and very pleasant, clean, and safe. Nice kids working there too in the rentals. I like to come back with friends.
Reily Kennedy
Beautiful, well marked trails. Definitely want to return and continue to explore.
Benton Ledbetter
Great Park with camping facilities, and even a shower. Have a swimming hole and a bike trail. I'm not sure if there's any more stuff to do there. I came just for the bike trail.
Lisa Eddings
We really liked this park. Nice swimming area and they rent paddle boats and canoes. Seemed to be very peaceful while we were there. We want to go back for camping weekend.
Sunshine Smith
Great trails, picture perfect lake sunsets and a quiet place to get away from it all.
Tommy Richards
A nice little park on the small mountain in Greenville SC. I enjoyed this park since I was a little boy out camping with family and friends. -- see update below
Update - camped in the campground and was disappointed with the small sites, trash from last campers still on site and much smaller than advertised. Also, the picnic table was falling apart and not safe. The rangers and host that stopped by were the least helpful and rude I've seen at any park so far. We have stayed in at least a third of the state parks in SC and so far this has been the first disappointing experience.
The lake is smaller than I remember and not as well kept s others in the state.
Downgraded from 5 to 3 stars after camping. will not camp here again!
Alexander Klarman
Field trip with Duncan Chapel Elementary 5th grade class. Had a good time as one of the chaperones. The kid’s learning about ecosystems and enjoying the day outside.
Ariel Hablewitz
Great hikes/walks with great views, trails are kept very nice and great place to take your dog out!
michael heredia
Busy park- plenty of parking. Cost is pretty high at $6/person. Great history and fun easy trails. I’ll be back when I visit the Greenville area again.
Stephen Lucas
Some easy trails then some steep trails walking over tree roots. Beautiful area.
David Holycross
The park did have an entrance fee but it had a lot of sites to see including waterfalls and stream side trails. I would be interested in camping here in the future. Lake side barbecues and shelters were also available.
Lisa Hintz
Not much to see or do if you are motoring . I understand this is a great hiking location however. We drove through the camping area and were not impressed. Fairly small spaces and not a lot of them- 40 I believe.
Michael Scholz
Had a great day today at Paris Mountain State Park. Came by for the Sunrift Adventure demo day off all kinds of boats, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards. Checked out a few different ones before deciding to purchase the one I had been eyeing for a few months...
20 Frames Per second
Wonderful place to fish and hike. We come here almost every weekend to fish. Love it.
Scott Dee
The weather spoiled it a little for us but nonetheless we had fun. Nice views and a cool little swimming spot halfway through nicely hidden in the trees.
Ajinkya Gode
Good place to relax. Not really a hike but good for 20 min hikers!
Robert Weston
We had such a great walk!
Chip Cranford
Had an awesome day hiking with our grandkids!! Nice trails and lake for fishing & swimming!
Taurice Jones
The area is lovely and beautiful. The trials are not hard at all. Truly fit for all ages. One of the nicer state parks that I have travelled to.
Katie Young
So many views, trails and always finding new places to explore very beautiful park
Brandi Rodriguez
Beautiful trees and scenery, Hiking trails, paddle boats ,lake, cabins, restrooms, large shelter with fireplace, picnic areas, playground.
Cory Healy
Took my kids here for their first camping experience. They had a blast. Worth every penny.
Paul Yeager
Beautiful park. If camping in a trailer or motorhome, be prepared to do some leveling as quite a few sites are far from level. Sites are a bit less private than those we saw at Jordan Lake and Bandit's Roost.
Bathhouses are some of the better ones we've seen recently at state/federal campgrounds. They're air conditioned!
Andrew Federsel
The landscape is beautiful, plenty of parking and a children's play area haven't came here yet but looking forward to it
Heather Deiters
I visited the Brissy and Kanuga trails. Lovely experience for hiking or mountain biking. Encountered friendly and courteous hikers in a paradise. Would highly recommend this idyllic and relaxing experience.
Luke Gaikwad
Beautiful park with a gorgeous lake and tons of fun activities for the whole family.
Frank Nathe
I didn't realize how great the spark was being so close to Greenville. I'm relatively new in Greenville and regret not having gone here sooner. A number of great hiking trails.
Main Streets & Backroads by Todd Touchberry
Great getaway weekend! Clean bathhouses. Spots are a little steep, we'll bring a few leveling boards the next trip for our vintage camper.
miguel vilchez
Exelent, beautiful state park close to the city and away from the noise.
Tyler Luebbert
My inlaws drove across country to visit with a travel trailer. They used the campground to stay over night. My mothering inlaw swears it's one of the most beautiful places. She really loves the endless hikes this place offers.
My wife and I have only walked around the small lake with our dog. We also enjoyed our stroll. It's a great little place to spend the day and enjoy a picnic. Bring $5 for a day parking pass otherwise run the risk of a parks ticket.
Joy McNevin
Paris Mountain is a great place to visit. There is a lot to offer from picnic areas, hiking and mountain biking trails. to paddle boarding the 1 of the 3 lakes. I would suggest you check it out with your family.
Teryi Youngblood Musolf
My haven for grounding, meditation and exercise in Greenville. When the static of little city life is overwhelming, Paris Mountain is a blessed retreat.
Benjamin Beilhé
Amazing park, with nice forest and pretty lake. Lot of places for picnic 😉 …
Linda Aurand
I visit the trails here often because it is so close to home and well-marked trails of varying difficulty. With the connector trails it is easy to customize a hike based on time and how much of a chsllenge you want for yourself. It is very busy of the weekends.
Melissa A
Pretty state park. Visited on several occasions to hike. Trails are maintained, but not consistently clearly marked. Trails for various skill levels. Park does not allow bikes on hiking trails on Saturdays. Swimming area available and an outdoor amphitheater.
Charles Williams
Paris Mountain State Park is one of the nicest semi-urban park areas I've visited anywhere in the country. The lower lake is well suited for family fun and the trail around the lake is perfect for young families. Further up the mountain the trails are more challenging. Well worth the price of a SC State Parks Annual Passport no matter where you live.
Chris Alston
Enjoyed getting out on the trails with our dogs. Facilities were clean and everyone we interacted with was friendly.
Dominic Alfonso
Great place for outdoor cooking, get together...great hiking trails and outdoor areas for entire family to enjoy.
Doug Payne
The trails here at Paris Mountain State Park are really nice. I biked the Sulphur Springs trail today. Going up will definitely get your heart rate up, and you’ll have to walk part of the trail due to roots & rocks, but the ride down is intense! Just look out for hikers! And there are several other great trails here too! Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!
Satyendra Sunkavalli
Wonderful Park in Greenville. Good Place for family get together. They have boating facility.
Dan Andre
Awesome...really enjoyed our time here!
Rachel Land
Extremely beautiful part with windy roads and tons of trails. While we didn't stay long, it was neat to see paddleboats and swimming available in addition to camping and hiking. I've never seen bike stations with all the tools and gadgets - what a great idea to support biking as well!
Nikki Robinson
Beautiful! Had a great time. The park store was right beside the main swimming area. The trail heads and where to park was a little confusing. It was the only SC Park we've been to that charged $2 for a park layout map, they are normally free. It's a great place to visit we will absolutely be coming back.
Kode M
Very close to Greenville and pretty good hiking spots .
Just 20 mins drive from Greenville to get in mountains and relax during day.
Brandon Reid
My grandparents met here in the 1940s and they were married for 69 years. After they passed, some of their ashes were spread in this beautiful park.
Chandler Jones
Solid hike, no matter the time of year! Not challenging, but good for an afternoon stroll.
Christina
Very tranquil and quiet, has campgrounds, kayak rentals, it's easy to access and located right in Greenville. Great place for a picnic, a hike, or weekend camping
Manda B
Beautiful year round with great trails. Only some panoramic views, but a lovely way to get outside
Shaylynn Shumway
My family and I camped here over this past weekend. It was great!! So much to do and very helpful friendly staff. Campsites are clean, spacious, and surrounded by trees. There are tent pads big and small. We had a 10 person tent on lot 17 that still could have fit another tent. 10/10 would recommend.
michelle nault
Amazing park with swimming, kayaking and great walking and bike trails. Dog friendly. :-)
Nancy Robbins
Something for everyone. Beautiful views, hiking trails, swimming, pedal boats and picnicking. It is calm and serene in most spots where you can be alone; or pavilions are available for large groups. Great family area and an office for any questions, maps etc.
Phil Trivilino
Great trails. Quiet, clean campground. We had a great stay and got to enjoy our grandsons. Free firewood also.
2021 - Now doing Campground Host for January/February.
kelly long
Loved spending the evening hiking in the park. Beautiful!
We thoroughly enjoyed the fireside talk with a park ranger, Madison. She was knowledgeable and interesting. We learned how Paris (Pearls) mountain got its name. Thank you, we will be back!
Madeline Rivera Crouch
First time visiting. Went hiking with my girls. Lovely place! Nature! All was pleasantly beautiful
David Panda
Nice park, great trails, and amenities, for campers and visitors.
Art by Loretta J.
Beautiful park with swimming, camping, hiking for all levels. Rentals on site. We love it here.
Benjamin Allen
The Music In The Woods series is totally worth your Saturday afternoon. The Civilian Conservation Corps built something really wonderful for the region. Learn about your local history here.
It was a beautiful afternoon with well groomed trails to follow.
Karson Wilson
Such a cute park!!!!!!
Every trail has something special / different even though it’s all looped together. We completed the white Sulfur trail which was 3.5 miles. It was very very easy except a small portion which required some extra attention to footing. Loved following the stream, sitting at the lake, and viewing the dam and waterfalls!
Highly recommend and will be back!!
TIP - We arrived at 10:00 and the parking lots deeper into the park we’re already full. I would highly suggest arriving sooner!
Ed Lanfear
Great natural walking trail around the small lake. Maybe a one mile loop. No garbage cans, carry your garbage out with you.
Conservative Fundamental Preacher
Very nice park and great camp host's! Even though it rained a good bit of the weekend, we enjoyed the relaxation of this park. There is much to do and I look forward to going back on a date when it is much dryer.
Vaneta Martin
Great little place to camp. Camp host are very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are very clean and the water pressure in the shower is amazing! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the site are small and not level.
Mike Camping for fun
I camper here for a week. The park is absolute beautiful. The campground itself is very beautiful. But the campsite itself sucks. There's only a few sites that are good the rest are on the hill and very unlevel. I saw a camper with a tires totally up the ground just to get level. I was in the handicap site that should be a violation of federal law that's how bad it was. I will not go back camping here. The campsites are very small and if you don't get the good sites you will regret camping here, unless your tent camping.

Paris Mountain State Park is a true gem and great getaway that is located just outside Greenvllle. Great for hikers, bikers, swimmers and nature lovers. Exploring the hiking trails and history never gets old.
Patti P
Beautiful. We did the easy placid lake trail. It was lovely.
Tricia M. Paul
Love it there. Very tranquil even on a Saturday.
amanda (Amandaistrouble)
Easy trails, the entire family loves this park. You can choose how challenging you want your hike.
Pam Carey
Beautiful Park friendly people. Pet friendly and the water looked inviting.
Jeff Hamme
Great state park. Clean. $6 per person to visit.
Bonnie B
Great trails! Beautiful park! Conveniently located in Greenville.
Brittany Conley
Love this park. Always feels safe, it's always beautiful. Every employee I've encountered seems like they love their job, they're always helpful and excited to help.
Richard Raborn MD
Great walk around lake. Entrance not marked correctly in Google map
david hutchinson
We got rained out the day we went to check it out. But just a couple of first impressions. The sites were a little tight, and it seemed a little strange to have let the city and county completely build up around it. It's like being camping and being 10 minutes away from fine dining in a restaurant.
Ward Rounsaville
Trails here, are nice.
Varying levels of difficulty, with some gorgeous scenery.
Pet friendly.
Plenty of different parking areas.
Day use shelters.
Take the family, or friends, and get out and enjoy it.
$6 parking fee per vehicle.
Sharon Hughes
Beautiful place. Great hiking.
Abigail Hastings
Only 15 min drive from Greenville. Amazing hikes and views. And snakes! Favorite trail is sulphur springs
Carlin Lusk
Not as many amenities as some other parks but the hiking, biking, and campsites are all great. Decent bath house and very good tent camping. Met friendly staff as well. Will come again.
George Velez
A perfect trail for a short hike. The scenery was calming and scenic. The amphitheater looks like a great place to view concerts.
Leah Peabody
Fantastic state park. $5/adult and $3/kid to get in or you can get an Upstate park pass for $60/year that covers everyone in the car. There is a swimming area open memorial through labor day to cool off in after a hike or just to spend the day at. Paddle boat rentals available as well. There are bathroom facilities but no shower/changing rooms which can be a struggle if you don't want to drive home in a wet suit. Lots of hiking and mountain biking trails. On Saturday afternoon in the summer/fall they have a free concert series in the ampitheater. The ampitheater is down a short trail so it's not easy for everyone people to get there but I've seen the park ranger giving golf cart ride's to the elderly guests on multiple occasions. Campground and playground are also on site as well as several picnic areas with charcoal grills.
RJ “rjeepers” Pierce
Best park for the convenience I’ve ever lived near. Hiking, biking, paddling, picnics - it has it all!
Bill Turner
This is a very fun place to ride mountain bikes. Challenging for even the best !
Stan Smith
Great walking trails.. if you are able to find a parking spot
Krissy Spero
Beautiful trails and lakes. Caught bass at the resuvar. Water is extremely clear.
Anne Parlier
Since it was raining most of the time we were there, we didn't get a great introduction. Since we're from out of state, we relied upon Google maps and went through a labyrinth to get there. The campground is at the back of the park and the road is narrow with many turns. The campsites are somewhat barebones and are very uneven or not level in many of the sites. The biggest disappointment was that there were no maps of the park or signs available in the campground so we had no idea of where trails were etc.We got there after closing and the ranger was nice enough to call us ahead with the code for the gate.
Cory “GreenGO” Green
This is the perfect little get away. Plenty of places to hike, bike, and fish. The trails are well maintained and they stock the lake.
Jeremiah Tesch
This park is a gem for Greenville, and if you grew up here you probably don't even need to read the reviews because you already know about it. There are plenty of trails to spend half a day or even a full day hiking, and they feel surprisingly remote and rugged for being an inner-city park. It does get pretty crowded on weekends and holidays, but it's certainly worth visiting. Of course there are also lakes and picnic areas, but I'm more inclined to partake in the hiking.
Susmit Singh
Lovely cute little spot especially during fall!
Tena Fleming
I love it, I have a pass, and plank to visit very often ❤️
Jessica Morton
A great place minutes from downtown Greenville to get lost in nature. Plenty of trails, but all relatively short. String together a few different ones and to a nice long hike.
Patrick Welch
This campground is really relaxing. We have stayed here a number of times. There were no golf carts running wild. No people afraid of the dark. The sites are on the small side with many being designated as tent only. Many sites are also not level. Be careful with site selection.
The road going to the campground is narrow with some twists and turns. The road is not the problem, it's the people in cars speeding and cutting the corners. Just be careful. It's easy to drop your tires off of the pavement.
Jerry Stevens
This is the go-to park for locals. There are other great parks but for sheer convenience you can't beat it. Just 6 miles to downtown Greenville.
The Ruby
Found this place by complete accident. So in the words of Bob Ross this was a very happy accident. The lake is breathtaking and the hiking trails are amazing. Definitely going to be coming back here.
Linda Quimby
Very nice state park we really enjoyed the stay.. You can swim there or hike or go out on go out on a kayak. The only thing is I wish they would fix some of the black top at the RV sites.. They are breaking off. Nice large RV sites though.
Donald Thomas
What a great Birthday celebration we had. Rented shelter 6 and was blown away by its spacious set up. Then notice it was right on the creek so easy access for kids and adults to enjoy some cold water. You could walk dow. To the lake or hang out in a rather large field area. Did I forget to mention our shelter was right next to some very clean and useful restrooms.
Frances Ogle
Had a good time at our family reunion. We rented a shelter and grill out..with a view of the lake ..
Mary Jane Heilman
This is a small Campground with just 40 sites but we had a very nice pull through site. The bathrooms were extremely clean. There are lots of mountain biking and hiking trails that are visited by many locals it appeared. the park gate is locked at 6:00 p.m. and so be sure to have the code to be able to get back in if you come back after that. It's just about 15 minutes to the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville which was fabulous.
kenneth webber
Beautiful little state park. A little expensive to access but the grounds and facilities are really well maintained. Some of the trails near the top of paris mountain have pretty limited parking which can be a problem if you dont get there early
Tim Pressley
Well maintained, peaceful, abundant outdoor activities. Free firewood, fishing tackle on loan. Pleasant friendly staff. Campground has good sized sites for tent or RV with 30amp and water. No sewer but there is a dump station. Enjoyed our stay. Looking forward to coming back.
XxUnkownCorez cool
It is a nice little state park. It has trails for hikers and bikers. A nice camp ground and swimming area too.
Ross Kapron
Buautiful local place to spend time. Fantastic trails.
Alisha Norris
Very beautiful.. not free. Strenuous and challenging.. not free.. beautiful sights and gorgeous nature . Not free.. it's def worth a try.... But still not free.
KC
Excellent park with plenty of amenities. Descent trail for a trail run. I took the sulphur springs loop, to fire tower, to kungua, to brissy ridge, and back to sulphur trail loop. Trail is marked well with signage throughout. The trail itself is laden with roots and rocks. Parts of the trail are technical and steep. Other parts of the trail make for a great place to catch a nice stride. The trail also offers a fair amount of shade. Make sure you are hydrated and get after it!
David S
Alot of nice, easy walking trails. Was not busy but we went during the week.
Happy Tiger
Nice hiking trails...several folks out braving the coming thundershowers...
Deborah Thompson
Gorgeous park! It did seem light on parking spots.
Andrew Van
Some of the best views and hiking you’ll find in Greenville!
Andy Durst
Great place with lots of trails and places to cool off in the water.
Scott A. Reighard
Overall, the park was very nice. Small, meaning there are not a lot of spots, so you may have to plan early. Getting to the campsite was pretty sketchy and narrow. We almost had 2 collisions with vehicles coming too tight around the bends. Most sites are not flat so prepare for that. Otherwise, amenities at the park were definitely for the adventurous. Definitely need to go back in the summer when the lake activities kick in.
Kaleb Curtis
We've stayed at our fair share of state parks - camping is what we do for vacations - & this one has the cleanest, nicest restrooms we've seen yet.
Not a lot of sites, & they're packed together as usual, but it has a nice little set of trails - the main trail has a small waterfall over a dam that's pretty kool... you do have to drive to the trail parking from the campsites, but it's only a couple mins - same road as campground access, you pass the trails, picnic, & Ranger station parking area on your way in to your site.
Will visit again.
Melanie mancuso
Loved the trails! The Lake is so peaceful
Cory Ciepiela
Good hiking trails and plenty of shelters for picnics. Cool dam structure too!

Had a great day today at Paris Mountain State Park. Came by for the Sunrift Adventure demo day off all kinds of boats, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards. Checked out a few different one before deciding to purchase the one I had been eyeing for a few months...
A Low
Excellent for kayaking and paddle boarding. Small beach area for kids and families is very nice. Have life jackets and picnic areas.
Peter Haight
Pictures and words don't do justice. Lots of hiking trails here and so many beautiful views. Friendly faces everywhere and cool historical monuments. Bathrooms are a bit out of the way. Make sure you wear good walking or hiking shoes.
josh matson
It's awesome here. Lots todo and great hiking.
Rob Davis
Love this place and it's right in our backyard. Lots of trails for all skill levels and ages.
John Burton
My focus has been on the camp site, so I can't comment on any of the other facilities. The camp site is clean, small and quiet. Bathhouses are well maintained and the camp host is friendly.
The trash facility, dumpsters,, are a long walk from the site, and the original camp site was built in the 70's. Most of the sites need attention, and some are almost impossible to use due to tree roots pushing up the black top. The camping spots are a little tight to get in for the larger A class rigs, or large travel trailers.
Heather Campbell
Wonderful park! They had a great playground but we went for their boat rentals. You can rent a paddle boat, kayak, or a canoe for only $5/hour. Nice little lake. We really enjoyed the boats and then swimming. It was $5/adult and $3/child to get into the park but the lady let us know if we wanted to buy a park passport for $50 it gives you unlimited visits to 40 national parks in the state for a year from the day you purchase it. Good for your vehicle of people and that your entrance fee from that day would count toward the price if you buy the passport.
The place was clean, beautiful and peaceful. My family and I had a great time and will be going back.
Diane Renner
Sites are ok, bathrooms are clean, plenty of hiking trails, need to move trash dumpster closer to campground
David Rowley
This is such a great park and it's proximity to Greenville makes it so accessible. The kids love it and the trails are great!
Michael Girardo
We love Paris Mountain State Park. We have camped here at least a half dozen times when we have come to Greenville. The park is beautiful. We have hiked several different trails and have spent time at the lake and waterfall. We've only camped here in the fall and winter, mostly late winter. The campsites don't offer any privacy, but most are spacious. We have stayed on several different sites. Almost all sites are not level, a good number of them are really out of level. The handicap accessible site is pretty much the only site that is level. The bath houses are cleaned several times a day. All the Park Rangers we have dealt with are great. They offer free firewood, but make sure to leave a donation. We have noticed over the last few years, that it has been harder and harder to get reservations on short notice. The last time we stayed we had to book several different sites, but when we got there, the campground was almost empty and because it was cold, never filled up. I guess the locals reserve sites and then cancel if they don't go. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Greenville.
Joel Nolette
Park is a nice place for good amateur hiking. Also family friendly - went with three kids and they had no problem with the easier trails. There's also swimming as well as some basic amenities, like a gift shop, bathrooms, and what not. In all, nice spot for a weekend family getaway!
Hunter Gainey
Extremely beautiful park, very quiet, it does cost to get in and park per person in the car , feels like a hidden mountain location, beautiful spillway and lake , extra beautiful in the Autumn
Christopher George
Outstanding State Park! Hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and camping. What more could you ask for? Paddle boating, canoeing and kayaking.....got that too!
Joan G.
Paris Mountain State Park is a beautiful park with a fair amount of trails, but they’re not for beginners and they are not paved, even the easiest one around Lake Placid. Please be aware that maps are NOT free, (pull them up online on their website) currently most of the bathrooms are not open, (the main visitor center one is open) and also the lake placid trail has an unmarked detour around the dam that dumps you out onto the main road with zero signage for you or the traffic. We found it extremely dangerous. We found even the easiest trail not at all handicap accessible and I’d imagine the much more strenuous other trails would be even less so. Trail markers are few and not easily visible. Road is very winding uphill, and they definitely need more speed limit signs( 15 mph) because people were flying through there while we were there. Lovely campsites, but tough terrain for leveling. At the top is a private gated lodge with cabins that can be rented for venues. (Camp Buckhorn)
Shawn Whetsel
Great park to stay at with your family. We brought the RV and camped for a few days, they had swimming in the lake, lots of picnic locations, some walking trails, and decent WiFi. I will say the the road is very narrow and winding especially when you have an RV or camper. The camp hosts were awesome and they even have free (donation accepted) fire wood. Clean bathrooms and showers as well as a few pull through sites. I was torn on 4 or 5 stars for this review... If you leave or arrive before 8am or after 8pm (times may change) you have to open a pad lock and self service let open and close the gate. No big deal, but a little inconvenient. The camp sites could be very difficult to back into if you have a large camper. Our 29ft RV with a toad was fine, but I saw some people with 40+ft 5th wheels struggle to make the loop let alone get the camper into the spots. Not the best angles on the camp sites. Only 30amp service from what I saw, and I don't know if many sites have sewer. The dump station is also a tight turn for bigger campers. The biggest gripe I had was how terribly unlevel EVERY SINGLE SITE is. Be sure to bring a ton of blocks to level yourself. I have no idea why the park paid to asphalt the entire site but didn't bother to level the spots first. But do those little things reduce it to 4 stars? I couldn't bring myself to do it, out experience was great and with two packs of leveling blocks we got it good enough. We would return for sure. Safe travels!
James Cote
Lots of stuff to do here. Several hiking trails short trails and long trails. Great experience.
TheAsterdash
Love coming here for hikes and some of the trails are challenging.
Make sure you look into the trail distances, routes and difficulties and bring plenty of hydration.
Beautiful, scenic trails with plenty of neat elevation paths that cut through and around Paris Mountain. If you enjoy it and plan on repeated trips I highly recommend the season park pass which will pay for itself quickly.
Danielle Mulkay
There are 13 miles of trails in this park that we did not get a chance to explore, we used this trip to visit downtown Greenville. This was the closest option near there that was actually out in a more wooded setting, others closer to Greenville seemed more urban.
Angela Oliver
Great local park for day hikes, camping, & backpacking!
James C
So many great trail. All is well kept and beautiful. Great for mountain biking and most bikers are very polite. No bikes on Saturdays. Easy to moderate difficulty levels. Really nice and clean camping. Rustic camping available, first come first serve, at the top reservoir. Watch out for fishing hooks along the water. My family and I enjoy Paris Mountain very much. Don't forget to get an annual park pass.
Emory Young
Nice state park close to Greenville. Intermediate Mtn bike trails.
Stephanie Spry
Beautiful park! Narrow roads - tight for small motorhome.
DoggedSwing Music
We rode about 12 miles on our bikes, and this was my first time. Trails were super clean, beautiful views, just amazing all around. I had to walk my bike a bit so I can also say that hiking is fun out there too. 10/10!
Ellis Gunter
Nice place. Both short and long hike paths.
Terri Lewallen
This is a lovely place to visit for the day or to go camping!!! The host lady is awesome!! Very sweet and welcoming!! She makes you definitely want to visit again!! Nice hiking trails and swimming in the lake!! The campsites have running water and power sockets to hook up to!! Beautiful waterfall!! You can rent paddle boats and petal boats!! This place to me exceds 5 stars!!!!
jm lindley
Beautiful State park. It stayed busy all weekend but we still had fun camping, walking the trails, sitting by the campfire, checking out the park center and some of the historical stuff. Was disappointed that the boats were not available for use and privately owned boats are not allowed. This was stated on the website. Maybe next time. Campground is very nice and clean. Roads and sites are paved but not many sites are level. Roads coming into the campground and park are somewhat narrow especially with it being as busy as it was. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable of the park. Park even provides firewood for a donation. It was nice wood split into good size chunks for a campfire.
lori burhoe
Had a blast with my best friend!
Ashutosh Karanjkar
There are lot of trails from easy for kids to hard ones for adults. We took the earlier Lake Lucid trail.
Bruce Hood
Nice park. Very clean and well matained. Because it is close to Greenville and Travelers Rest there is a lot to do. Just be prepared if you have a big camper, the road leading back to the campground is long and very winding. A lot like driving mountain back roads.
Catherine Donaldson
Parking can be difficult especially on nice days but there's lot of things to do. I personally love hiking to North Lake.
Devin Hudachek
Absolutely beautiful park here in South Carolina! The scenery is luscious and the people here are nice and relaxed, just like me and my mom. We've only been here for a day but we love it already. Definitely book a visit when you have the chance
Tabatha Raquel
Beautiful place to hike and ride bikes
Karen Allen
The rangers are knowledgeable, helpful and enthusiastic
Dave Kastner
Nice but not particularly well kept restrooms. Acorns and branches kept falling on the picnic table while you're eating, and on the roof of your camper, keeping you up most of the night. The rangers do not really under the campers policies and don't apply them uniformly. Bottom line, there are a lot of nicer campgrounds.
d brittain111
We left a day early. They said we would have to move to a site that had been available the whole time. No trash cans. The sites are really tight and road dangerously narrow.. You have to travel to a vehicle overflow area to explore. The people were nice. But of the three, Paris, Oconee, and Wateree, Wateree was all around my favorite.
Blu Foxx
I have been to alot of state parks and this is one of my top 3 for sure. Lots of different trails all with different levels, so much natural nature 😍 they have a lil sand beach near the bottom when first entrance, but of course I went instantly to the trails. Highly-rated for me 👍👍👍
6$ entrance fee
Danielle M
Nice hikes & beautiful scenery
Colton Woodside
This is a great place to take your dog and spend some time on the trails. There's plenty of shaded trails to navigate so you don't get too hot. The scenery is beautiful, and there's a cool waterfall that leads to a small stream where your dog (or kids) can play and cool off.
David Sisk (Puddy)
Very pretty park with lots of trails.
Jenn Marie Mills
Great trails and nice swimming awesome!
Paul Hiller
Lots of cool trails. From beginner to expert there are trails for everyone.
Caroline Pressley
A little pricey. Nice views of the woods, but not much else. A large portion of the park had no trespassing signs as part of it was blocked off to anyone who didn't rent a cabin. The park overall was not of 6$ per person value. 😅 …
Brian Moore
Mountain bike trails are mostly of the up and down variety with some big roots and rocks that can be dangerous if you're not careful. Not particularly well maintained. Some nice hiking trails. Park is pretty crowded most days. Hikers are very possessive of the trails. When biking here, I get more dirty looks and snide remarks than anyplace I ride.
Reformed 7
We love hitting the trails, and this is a good place if you are just looking to get outside and soak it in for a bit. NOTE: it does cost per person to get in. If you live near by and want to use the park often it is best to get a yearly pass (just my thoughts:).
HT
Beautiful park! Lots of trails!
Ismael Reyes
Watch for huge (touring) RV buses taking ridiculously wide turns. One ran us into a ditch
Elisabeth
It was beautiful, really beautiful but there was a lack of signage for where a trail-head is located. I ended up having to ask a ranger and even then I got lost because of signage issues, pleasantly so though! The rangers are really helpful and go out of their way to assist. Despite problems I would definitely go back. There's a lot you can do (swim, picnic, camp, hike) and I only got to one of them!
Andrew Coppola
I just hiked, but there are also a couple nice lakes for swimming/kayaking etc. The trails were pretty good. Signage could've been a bit better. It costs a few dollars ($6 when I went) to get in.
Oliver Rudolph
Great area for a quick hike on the weekends. There are multiple parking lots located on site which allow you to go on various trails on different levels of elevation. Even the "difficult" trails are easily manageable for a 4 year old girl. We're visiting regularly.
Galina Difort
Large state park with good hiking. Many facilities and things to do.
Alison K
We volunteered to clean up trash for community service (Beta Club). The rangers were so nice and helpful, the bathrooms were clean and the trails were easily marked! The best part was our trash bags were almost empty after 4 hours-- that means the park is so kept really nice and clean!
I also picked up some things from the gift shop and it is nice knowing that my money is supporting a state park!
Kevin Hopkins
Great hiking and biking trails, swimming and small boating areas.
Darren Singer
Love Paris mountain. hiking is top notch we camped and very peaceful and convenient .one of my favorite state south Carolina parks
venom180sx
Nice little state park, but it is little. The hiking is decent around the lake and offers pretty good views. Driving through the campground, the sites are kind of close together, but do offer water and electricity at most of them. I prefer more primitive camping, so it doesn't appeal to me. Parking here, although free, is tricky. There aren't many lots and some have time restrictions.
Jeff Grant
Always something new to explore! A great selection of hiking trails for all skill levels, amazing views and lots fun places to stop along the way. Several picnic areas both on and off the trails. Sulpher Springs trail is always a big hit with the kids... They love to stop and get their feet wet and play in the water every chance they get 😊
Ginny B
Love this park! We've hiked around 75% off the trails to date. We buy the annual pass for all SC state parks and feel good that we contribute to the upkeep of them. We take our dogs with us, and they give Paris Mountain a solid 4 paws up too! Nice walking trails and beautiful scenery is hard to beat. As with all trails, you have to be on the lookout for rocks and tree roots that you can stumble over, but that is to be expected.
Gisela Hausmann
So awesome, I bought the yearly pass.
Awesome trails, and the nicest hikers and mountain bikers in all of SC. Actually, my gym pal and I both purchased a yearly pass five weeks ago. Since then, we have been hiking here at least once per week. Every time, we meet the nicest people. If you like to be out in nature, this is the place to be.
6 stars, if I could give them.
Andrea Harper
Late March visit, so just the beginning hints of spring. Went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.... Be prepared if you go on a weekend to have to look far and wide (well, all the way up the mountain) to find parking.
Does have a variety of trails for various fitness levels. Not as spectacular as Jones Gap or Table Rock, but also a much shorter drive if you just want to enjoy the peace of being in nature.
Michelle Palmer
We live 5 miles away and go here in our RV at least one weekend a month. It’s quiet, shady, bathrooms are very clean, nice place to walk your dog and ride a bicycle, and it’s very pet friendly. We absolutely love our home away from home. Highly recommend. We could go further- but why?!? Everything we love is here.
Amy Parsons
I have two sons that are 6 and 7 years old and we all love this park. The trails are nice. Bikes are allowed on most of the trails but not on all of them. We always walk and give the right of way to the bikes when on the trails that bikes are allowed on. We always bring a lunch. We practically always see snakes by the dam. There is also a playground. Just all around a great park to spend the day at. Bring a swimsuit if the weather is appropriate and you like to swim or rent one of their boats.
Connie
What a great place to hike. We chose to do the Sulfur Springs trail. We are 59 and 71. The trail was well marked, a beautiful hike with a few challenging areas. Definitely enjoyed every minute of it. Can't wait to return and try other trails.
JoAnn Roser
Love this park but over the years getting very crowded and folks are not obeying leash rules. Recently had pit bull jump on me (not on leash) as passed owner on the trail. Wish rangers did more to enforce leash rules and engaged some rules about bikes yielding to hikers otherwise well maintained trails and beautiful park for whole family.
Jacob Elliott
A varied, enjoyable series of trails for bike riders and hikers alike. A couple nice swimming holes as well. Cant go wrong here! A little pricey compared to the free trails in NC, but its clean and well manicured, so the ends justify the means.
Tim Estes
Great park with beautiful scenery. Plenty of places to sit around the lake. There are several hiking trails of varying lengths. Pet friendly! There were no garbage recepticals around the picnic or restrooms for some reason. Pleasant staff who are willing be to assist with questions.
Michael Bobbitt
Well taken care of and fun for hikers and bikers, but charges $6 per adult. Lake is very nice and boats are fun but only rented during summer. Nice hike around lake for our young family.
Rebecca Meek
This place is beautiful! I love coming here and just walking around the lake. They have a lot of different trails that you can take or just sit and have a picnic. It's $6 per adult to enter the park.
Brianna M
Me and my family enjoyed it so much!!! Plenty of shade, beach area was fantastic and very shaded, wasn't very expensive either. Will definitely be coming back
Kevin Flarisee
This state park has it all. There's nice, varying terrain for different skill levels, beautiful scenery and useful amenities, like in-park Wi-Fi, plenty of picnic benches, ample parking, a nice park center with lots of information, and the "Music in the Woods" festival in the Fall (which we haven't made it to yet). So much to see and do here! 😍
Rico Goetz
Variety and length of trails are very good for biking for different levels of experience. Could be some more easy ones to go there with little kids
Paul Millhouse
Pretty good. Nice park right close to town for a quick weekend hike with the dog or something. Wish there was a hike with an actual overlook or something though. Also no trashcan anywhere in the park except at the main bottom parking lot! My dog pooped first thing of course so hot bag of poop in the car the whole time I was hiking... Oh well. Still nice that it's close and there's some nice hikes. Nothing too strenuous but it's always good to get out into nature.
L Lebanoff
Really nice hike around the lake!
Burl Walker
Love this place. Close to home for me and great trails to getaway for a day or overnight!
Joel Watson
Well maintained, great trails, well marked, awesome rangers and very zenlike.
Kenneth Nowicki
Can't say much, it's a hidden gem, paths are marked, it's a little bit of heaven, right here in gnvl.
Emily Stiles
Our favorite plandemic getaway!
Scott Graham
Decent park with some nice hikes and bike trails. Nothing spectacular though. They keep it up fairly well though.
The best hike is Sulphur Springs. I prefer parking up top and going down the east side and up the west side. The area above the reservoir is really fun.
Ian Rose
Great trails for being so close to town. Sometimes it gets pretty crowded so I recommend going before 6am. Makes for good sunrise viewing and hardly see anybody else. I like this place a lot for running and not so much biking. It's pretty Rocky but if that is your thing go for it. They have a small playground which is good for little guys. My next adventure will be skateboarding down the road.
Lindsay Sanford
Love to come here! Many different trails with varying difficulty and length, so many places to have a picnic. Great place to visit with kids, the lake trail is easy and not too long for little legs. Nice playground too.
AA-Ron
Very clean and well laid out park, there is EV charging at the first lot which is convenient and free! The park itself has various lots and trails to explore. The dam has many salamanders as well as fish species to observe, very serene and relaxing as well as very easy walking trail for any age or hiker.
Brian West
Nice clean park. Paddle boats not open on the Tuesday I went. Not sure why
Preston Rachel
This place was life changing for us for a reason and one of the best State Parks in SC
Shannon O'Brien
Stayed here in July and loved it. Yes, it is crowded on the weekends but my site was on the outer side of the loop with killer view of the forest. Sites well kept with tent pads and hookups. Bathrooms were as expected for a campground. Hikers beware of mountain bikers they approach quickly and somewhat quietly.
Christopher Lee
30'+ rig, do not stay here! We have a 38' bumper-tow, 60' total length and it was nearly impossible to get in and out of this park. On top of that the sites are unlevel and poorly maintained. The park itself is pretty, so if you have a shorter trailer or motorhome (and don't mind sitting at a bit of a slant) you'll be fine.
Jacob Thomas
Excellent primitive camping sites without mosquitos
Popo Mattice
We had a ranger guided hike and she made the children so comfortable and they enjoyed the hike so much. The park is clean, safe and beautiful. Plenty of parking, pic nic areas, rangers and service people around. Also the bathrooms are clean and well taken care off.
Sabura Maatra
A must see for the entire family! It was a slightly breezy yet sunny December 12th in 2021 in south Carolina
Shunlee Brown
I'm a mountain person so any excuse to get some fresh air I'm up for it. I will plant a tree the next time I'm there.
Lilith Wolfersberger
Love Paris Mountain State Park! It's great for when we decide to go on a last minute hike and want to stay close to town. My dog enjoys coming with us and playing in the water, hiking, running around, etc..
Chuck Duncan
The park is beautiful and the trails are well kept but, ask about the camper sites before you arrive. Some of them are extremely hard to get your rig into! We learned an important lesson...ASK and save yourself some frustration. Other than that...BEAUTIFUL!
jays sckayakfishing
Cool place great camping and not far from great fun
Troy Pensa
This is a beautiful state park with fantastic scenery and great hiking and mountain biking trails. Not mountain biking on Saturdays, but if you can get here during the week, it's worth it. The rangers at the main office were so helpful since this was my first time here. I will be back.
Thomas Jackson
Great State Park offering a number of different activities for all ages.
Naomi face
Very lovely and nice place to visit with the family
Sandra Markovich
Best park rangers ever! We had a really bad issue with our site being a slant and had to be moved to a more level site for safety reasons . Ranger Shawn helped me park my camper and went above and beyond! Love our state parks. Site note the swim area could use a few trash cans. I spent quite some time cleaning up small pieces of trash but had nowhere to put it.
Derek Mathis
Very nice place. Swimming ,hiking and fishing. Only issue we had was website said fishing rods were available for use and they weren't. I was charged $2 for a Xerox copy of a map. Overall nice experience. My daughter caught 4 fish. Sunfish, Black Crappie and Bass.
Craig Harkins
Enjoyed the hiking around the park. The trails were not very difficult so good for a leisurely pace. The park web site advertises that you can rent kayaks for the main lake, but when we were there the "season" had not yet started, so nothing to rent. (The site could do a better job publishing the actual dates these become available.)
Renay Todd
Great hiking trails - several choices of difficulty depending on your preference. Go early before the sun is bad. Park opens at 8 but many times, the gate is open before then. If you go often, I would suggest a yearly pass ($50)good for all SC State Parks. Pay per car, not per person.
Mike Campbell
Wide variety of trails for exploring the park on foot or Mountain Bike, ranging from beginner to advanced intermediate. No Mountain Biking allowed on Saturdays. Campsites and picnic sites available. Camp Buckhorn available for special events. Great place for a quick get away for locals, especially on weekdays when visitor counts are lower.
Tina Sitton
When entering the person at the gate REFUSES to believe our GRANDSON was 15 and charged us adult price for him. Looks can be deceiving but he's only 15 the 1 in the black shirt and black shorts !
Lauren White
Nice park, lots of open space and picnic areas. Spent a great afternoon with family. Lots of parking.
Keith Menendez
Fun with the family trekking around the beautiful trails
Norie Mueller
Took the kids on a hike a few weeks ago. We had two 4 year olds, two 6 year olds, and one 7 year old with us. We did the Brissy Ridge Trail, which is a 2.4 mile loop. They got pretty tired toward the end, but were able to gut it out! The trail was really nice with a couple of semi-mountain views and with a couple of streams we stepped across. We saw lizards, birds, and salamanders. There is a lake trail that is shorter and easier for younger kids, and there's also a playground but due to COVID is closed at the time being. There's also a great little educational center, but I think it might be closed as well at this time. There is a cost for entering the park, but if you're a Greenville family, consider getting the State Park pass, which makes sense if you're going to come more than once a year. Thank you, Paris Mountain State Park!
Kim Vanoverstraeten
Wonderful park. Beautiful as well. Campground host were extremely nice! Bathrooms / showers were very clean! We will definitely be back!
Brendan Blowers
This park is perfect for a short hike with kids or for spending a full day out on the trails riding a mountain bike. Just remember that all trails except the lake trail are shared by foot traffic and bikes-but no mountain biking is allowed on Saturday.
Take the “mountain creek” trail access hang a left onto the red marked "turtle trail” and follow that back around to the “mountain creek” trail to the top for a moderate hour hike with a wooden foot bridge over a creek, several boulders, and picnic tables at a little clearing at the end.
Tonya Bowen
This park as a whole is awesome! The campground is decent and clean. No soap in the women's bathroom for the 4 days we were there. The rangers are friendly. The office staff, Paula, is very friendly and helpful. The office has a very interactive section for kids to learn about Paris Mountain and Greenville. The trails are nice and peaceful. The views are beautiful. Will absolutely stay here again.
Claudia Black
This is such a beautiful escape. It is in the middle of the Greenville area, but the second you enter it becomes peaceful, rustic and a step back in history. Today was a little walk with the dogs, but i come here often for solitude and to sit with nature. Our family has also camped here and it was enjoyable!
Bryan
Good trails, well kept, swimming and canoeing available, playground for the kids. This is a great local park and a great challenging place for trail running. Make sure you pay attention to the park hours because they WILL lock the gates.
Timothy M
A cute park that is easy to explore in one day.
Roger Wilson
Great state park, grounds are well maintained, trails kept free of brush and debris, primitive campsites are clean and well maintained, shower house is very clean and does not smell and staff are nice and helpful-oh and hiking trails are very well marked! Love this state park!
Rebecca Johnson
Great place for hiking or walking trails, or picnics by the lake. Also a wonderful place for photography enthusiasts. Park takes donations at entrance. Roads into park are very narrow, and parking isn't spacious, so I don't recommend using larger SUV type vehicles. Closes at 5:30 pm on weekdays, but it's best to check park hours of operation on their website.
Jack Jones
(One of) the best mountain biking destinations in the upstate, but y’all really gotta consider being open to us bikers on Saturday. For most people, including myself, that’s literally the only day of the week that we can ride. My only other option is to wait for summer when I can go out during the week. All things considered, the trails here are well maintained and easy to navigate. Restrictions on mountain bikers during the weekend is just no good though.
Elizabeth Mueller
Great hiking and biking. Small campground with nice sites and friendly hosts.
Artou Rousselle
Great park close to everything. The Park Rangers are super friendly, your sure to have a great time.
Arthur Foster
Today is Mother's Day, and I took the family out to Paris Mountain for a picnic and a little fishing afterwards, it was a bit congested. My wife didn't like how crowded it was, so we left and went to table rock and it was much not crowed. My wife enjoyed that much more. Turned out to be a great day
Virginia Wright
Paris Mountain State Park is beautiful.
Loved it! Wash houses were clean, that is a plus to me.
Brian
Always enjoy hiking and relaxing throughout the whole park there are many aspects swimming hiking around the lake just a very nice enjoyable time plus so so close to downtown Greenville and wherever you live. Great spot :-)
Ms Jah
Beautiful park. Magical place. Park rangers are on patrols. Really awesome experience. Great place for meditation, hanging out, hiking, camping or just being silent and still. It can be an adventure for families. Great place to bring children. There are several locations for parking. Remember itis a mountain so drive the posted speed limit. There is a small charge to enter the park. Park closes at 9pm.
Christian Walker
Excellent state park in the upstate of South Carolina! Fishing can be a little challenging. Personally, I have had more success in the North Lake, but this can be quite a haul for little folks (It's a 45 minute hike to the lake at a brisk pace). Trail running is great on several trails, but you will want to make sure you don't get on one of the strenuous trails. Mountain biking, swimming, and picnic shelters are some of the amenities that the park has to offer. In the peak summer months, the park can get quite crowded, especially on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Chris Filyaw
It's a nice place but overcrowded and noisy. They need to open a second camping area just for RVs and turn the existing one into tent and hammock sites. Free maps of the park would help and some literature about the park and it's features couldn't hurt. The staff seems nice but they seem to be most interested in registration and payment of fees than anything else. Too commercial for a state park.
Skye is the limit
Beautiful day and I got to hike and take in all that nature had to offer.
Jennifer Kay
A great place for everything from a short casual walk to a longer, more strenuous hike. And the lakeside is a great place for a picnic.
Pamala Howell-Paoli
It was mice enough for a first visit. We mainly went to swim. It was not crowded. They had canoe, kayak, and paddle boats to rent for 30 mins for $5. However, not to far to go. The biggest problem I saw, was it was a steep walk down from parking to swim. Although, there was some rock steps, my elderly mother had a hard time walking down. They had bathrooms but no showers.
Mark Scott
Great place to mountain bike
Jonna Pantelis
We love visiting Paris Mountain for the hiking. The upper lake is so peaceful! Just make sure you know the dates of the bike races if you're looking for a quiet hike.
You can also camp here, which is fun for family camping. We've tent camped and hammock camped and they have good facilities and sites.
Gary Bedoe
Absolutely a great State Park. We came here for a wedding. The reception was held Camp Buckhorn and it came with 10 small surrounding cabins for guests wanting to stay overnight. Beautiful Fall outdoor wedding by a small lake and colorfull leaves. It would be great for family picnics and swimming too.
Kayla Buchholz
Many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Easy to moderate hiking trails, mountain biking, swimming, picnic areas and more. Very pet friendly.
Rachel Ratliff
The park is beautiful. Great place to camp. The staff are amazing. The one thing that would bring it to 5 stars is if there were more garbage cans available on the trails and in the camp. The only dumpster is .5 miles away from the camp. Long way to walk to throw away some dog poop.
Bradley Hawkins
Many trails! Great fishing!
John Rix
Beautiful views and great hiking and bike trails.
Mike Needham
Great hiking and close to greenville
Scott Thigpen
I walked Brissy Ridge loop today. Half of this loop is shared with mountain bikers and half is reserved for hikers only. I would rate the hiker only trail as moderate to difficult. The terrain is very steep with lots of exposed roots and rocks so you are constantly looking down instead of looking around. Even if you do manage to look around there is really not much to look at, there are no overlooks and no waterfalls. There is one small stream but even that isn't much to look at. On top of all that it was difficult finding a parking space and there were a lot of people and dogs on the trail, not very peaceful. I doubt I'll hike this trail again unless I start training for a Marine Corps Mud Run.
Dan J.
Great hikes a little expensive ($6 per person) we got the seasonal pass so have been coming back for the hike and views of the waterfall
David Wolfe
A great State Park. Plenty of things to do in the Park: hiking and mountain biking, swimming, boating, and fishing available. Walmart and Home Depot reasonable distance. Centrally located to waterfalls and quaint country towns. Camp was reasonably quiet, and set up for tenting, pull throughs with water and electric, dump station at entrance. Spots are limited, road is narrow. We stayed in the middle of August. It was on the hot and humid side. We enjoyed our time
Jeff V
The wife and I spent 4 night there in April. We had a great time. Go to the reservation site to get details about each camping site such as pad size and RV parking lengths. The site we reserved didn't give tent pad size and when we arrived discovered it wasn't large enough for my 13x13. Luckily, we were there during the week and we easily moved to a site that could accommodate.
The fire rings a really close to the tent pads and RV parking. They provided fire wood for a donation which when called and asked if they sold fire wood, they told us "no". We took fire wood but it was cool and we ran out so that was nice to have access to.
The bath houses were immaculate. My wife complained about bugs in the women's bathroom. It's a bathhouse in the woods....step on it. The park ranger comes around every couple of hours and are very nice.
Regulars mentioned that the weekends are packed. So if you want quiet, go during the week.
We are definitely coming back to this place
Kimberly Porter
So beautiful and peaceful. Our toddler had fun walking over the new terrain. It's 6$ a person but the playground is roped off right now because of Covid-19.
Stokes Music Studios
Great hiking and biking trails! Our students loved the "music in the woods" at the outdoor natural amphitheater. Very nice shelters for shade. This would be a great place for a Stokes Music Studios picnic!
Darcie Jenkins
Hiking is great although at times there is concern over getting run down by a mountain bike!
Travis Travinyle
Fortunate to live so close to one of upstate South Carolinas best state parks. There is an array of excellent hiking trails with views. Also a lake to cool off during the summer. The campground is well kept and mostly in the shade. The lake also contains paddle boats and canoes for rental.
Nettia Yates
I have been coming to Paris Mountain since 2007 when I first came Greenville, my family and I used come out here hike, fish, swim, go on nature walks we loved Paris Mountain and still do! It's one of my favorite parks, very nicely priced where everyone may enjoy the mountain. Everyone is always so nice when we visit. My favorite is the 🚣 boat rentals😀😀😀😀😀
Janetta Haines
Lovely views I wish they offered handicap friendly trails. Even one would open up the park to a more diverse group of people. The greeter was very kind and helpful.
stephen alford
Very Serene&Peaceful Experience whether you are looking to hike, just get out in nature, meditate or just spend quality family time.A Great place to do all of that and more.
Laurie Devito
This State park was easy to access from the city of Greenville. We only spent time at the Lake Placid end. We hiked, kayaked, and took a cooling dip in the swimming area. All in all a nice little natural space!
Shannon Simms
Beautiful place to visit. Great hiking trails for all levels of experience. Interesting history. I camped at the campground, great facilities. The campground wasn't crowded, I stayed right after the new year.
Monte Harrington
Spent four hours fishing at lake placid...didn't catch anything. But it's always nice to be in nature. Wonder if mountain lake has any fish.
Carter Agency Insurance Services
Update! Looks like Paris Mountain is investing more of there fees and grants etc into the park thankfully! A few years back even before Covid it was hit and miss on facilities, but the efforts put forth are paying off. Hiking has always been good here for a moderate hike and the trails are great for Mountain biking also. Glad to see the changes happening in a beautiful place so close to downtown Greenville.
James Hubbard
This was our first time to the Park, we chose to go on a short hike around the first lake at the Visitor Center because of the heat of the day.
We are planning to go back again to explore more, but come earlier in the day before it gets to hot.
PC bestway
Great place to visit. Numerous local roads leading to it from the highways. Very narrow and treaterous roads if you are pulling a larger trailer, no shoulders. Dump station is very small too.
Karen Dieminger
Hiking is great here! We hiked 6 miles Monday on the various trails and enjoyed it as much as we have for the past 30 years. There are a lot more mountain bikes now, but the riders were courteous.
Courtney Pitts
With the closeness to greenville, it’s a great little escape that feels like you’re in NC! They do a great job of keeping it clean.
Matt Diaz
I love these trails. If you want a great place to see if you like hiking, this is it. They're not too hard or strenuous, yet beautiful and relaxing. It's not too far from downtown Greenville, either. This is a great place to walk, run, bike, and picnic.
Ramona Medeiros
My family and I saw a review on social media and just had to try the hiking trails. I'm a severe beginner and the trail we picked had inadvertently been moderate. I was extremely thankful to see the end of the trail.
If you're an experienced hiker this is the place for you.
