Reviews of Aiken State Park
The kids had a fun time kayaking around the main pond. The water was clear and you could see fish swimming around. Kids also had fun playing at the playground and playing checkers at the rangers station.
I stayed here during the winter and had a great time! I went back to kayak on the Edisto and put in here. There was an abundance of wildlife! The birds were just singing away and I was the only person on the river. It was super nice and I will be back!!
Came here Friday for the toured bike ride (i thought they rented bikes). The park ranger were very helpful. Although we didn't bring our own bicycles I'd definitely come back here again and kayak/bike the area.
A lovely place to stay when you need to get away from it all. This park is nothing fancy but it is clean. Bathroom is old but serviceable. A nice place to canoe and fish. Wonderful play area for the kids and picnic area for the adults. Bring your bug spray and your best vacuum cleaner. Trails are easy to navigate. The campground boasts new electrical and water hookup. The spaces are level but the road needs to be better maintained as some pretty impressive puddles will develop after a good rain. This park in not conveniently located near shopping mall and so forth but there is a dollar store ten minutes away to help you out with those forgotten items. Check-in was super easy as the staff leaves the tags on the post of the place you reserved. Just tell the person at the booth who you are and drive on in. There is one bathroom facility for the entire park and there are 24 spaces for camping. The dump station was easy to use but oddly located. This place ain't fancy but it is clean and quiet. If you want a place to unwind you'll like Aiken State park.
Verrry quiet, verrrry dark, no campground lamping, any light is from camping units. Love the silence, space & quiet piney woods. Sand road & packed sand sites. Site size varies, but are a little bigger than described. Showers/bathrooms a little rustic but totally functional...hot water & good pressure! (Alert: lights are motion activated so may shut off w/o warning!) Excellent Verizon Mobile Hotspot..I worked/zoomed here for a week in Feb 2022 without difficulty. Peaceful.
I didn't know it existed but we had went to a back to school meet up held by my little girls school. It's nice. It has a lake to swim in, paddle boat & kayaks, fishing & hiking & other things , we didn't get see everything. The little swimming area was clean & it has a bathroom close by & a small playground. There's a large picnic shelter & a smaller one & few other picnic tables. It was really nice but the roads to get there were a little ruff & there was a crew working on the road but it was a few miles away from the park. The road that run through the park is fine. We had a great time at this park . It's $3 per adult & $1 for teens & kids & babies are free. The fishing lake is a separate lake from the swimming & paddle boats. We're already planning our trip back to this park.
Nice little park. Wife and I canoed it. We left our truck at the put in. The entire trip was about 50mins. The river was high and fun to maneuver.
We walked back to our truck from the pull out and it only took us "50 somethings" 30 mins.
1.3 miles back. The river was shaded the whole way. As was the well walk back to the truck.
Note: if you walk back, when you get to the park entrance walk down the road marked one way! It's shorter.
We will visit again..
100% one of Aiken’s hidden jewels. It’s a bit small for a state park sure, but it’s in a small town. The fishing lake is peaceful and serene, the trails are easy to moderate and it’s very pet and kid friendly. The sunset is gorgeous here, it’s one of our favorite places to stroll hike.
Talk about a getaway! This was the first time my family and I event camping together and talk about a wonderful, peaceful experience! The campsite was so spacious (for our tent), the area was clean and the noise stayed low. This is a family friendly place to go and one the the 47 SC state parks to visit (#1 on the park map). We loved it here, we went hiking on the multiple trails and found them to be accessible. Since we went during the month of March we did not attempt to go in the water or kayaking but you are able to do so. They do have your typical showers and restrooms. The campsite does have a picnic table and grill. I believe they have a playground for the kids. There is a small store to get a few things but now much. The state park isn't close to much so make sure to pack what you need. Overall, great park!
This was our first trip to Aiken State Park. The park ranger was very friendly, the facilities were clean and well maintained, despite being dated. The campsites are on the small side and some are a bit awkward to set-up. There's a Dollar General approximately 5 minutes from the park entrance with other stores 15-20 away if you need anything. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and plan to come back.
Aiken State Park was beautiful and the campground was well maintained. The campsites are a little closer together than expected but they were all plenty large enough and relatively close to the bathrooms. The showers have been recently updated and have nice tile so that was a plus. There are several ponds on property and the Edisto River is also right there so plenty of fishing and canoeing opportunities. We will be returning!
Only 24 site but it is a beautiful and quite park. Soft sand make for nice barefoot walking. Tree provide ample shade.
Nice little place to go for a family outing/camping trip. Has a camping site and a playground for kids. Many grills at the park for cookouts. Quite a few ponds and such to go fishing in. There is a 3 mile loop hiking trail to walk, and there is the option to go paddle boating, or canoeing/kayaking down 1.7 miles of the edisto river.
Really pretty place, lots of space. Came here for a little picnic w my grandparents and siblings and there were lots of good spots; shady too! No trash, the bathrooms weren’t that good tho. The dispenser in the girls bathroom was broken and we had to scoop it out of the actual dispenser.. No service either, so don’t expect to be texting people or etc..
24 nice sized sites. Pay careful attention for trailer size. If it says 20 it doesn't fit anything bigger. There are some challenging sites to get into as well. Most sites have been upgraded to 20/30/50 and new water pipes. Staff was friendly.
Went to visit and check out the grounds, well maintained campground!! We will be going back to go camping!!
Canoeing down Edisto River's scenic trail at the Aiken State Park is definitely one of the most rewarding ways to spend your weekend. 🛶 You can rent canoes/kayaks from the park office and the amazing park ranger will give you great guidance and assistance to make it a great experience! …
Nicely maintained and restful park with lovely fishing pond, canoeing river and paths. The many artesian springs are a surprising delight.
It was just a overnight stay for us. We were passing through the area. We called at 4:30 pm (we were about 3 hours from the park) and a super nice guy named Aaron answered and advised he had a site for us for the night. The only dislike was the dirt parking pads. It would've been nice if they were at least packed gravel sites. Clean bath house with hot showers. Entire park looked well kept. If we come back to the area, we will definitely stay here again.
Great little park with hiking and pond, plus a play park. There are both rv camps sites and primitive tent sites available to rent. There is also a nice paved road that we have ridden our bikes on. Picnic tables are available around pond area, and play area.
Nice park, very small campground. Pretty quiet. Very sandy. A couple nice but shorter trails. Rangers are very friendly.
It’s a nice park with some good walking trails. I wish it had a few more things for little kids to do, like more play equipment or something.
We have always loved visiting ASP, since I was a child. So many wonderful memories of this place!
This week, we had a field trip with our homeschool nature club. The two rangers, Aaron and James, were phenomenal with our kids! They had such a terrific and informative trip, full of fun and hands on activities! We can't thank them enough!
Beautiful state park. Lots of sand - camp sites are sand, not pavement. Closes Nov 1st for the winter.
Aiken State Park looked lovely from what I could see. Unfortunately it started raining and my GPS was not working and so I had a little anxiety and wasn't able to enjoy it as I would like to I hope I return again
One of the most beautiful parks out of that I've been to enjoyed it it was so nice everybody should check it out
$2.00 adult fee good clean spring fed swimming area. Canoe & kayak rental and shuttle at park. Clean restrooms and lots of tables in sun and shade. Nice camp ground tent to RV.
We came to the park so we could explore Aiken, what a nice park. It has trails to walk, you can rent canoes and kayaks. There is evan an artesian well.
Very nice sites, with new utilities.
Decided to take a little day trip out of NE Cola to Aiken for a swim. 🤩 wow! Love this State Park. Plenty of camping space, a wonderful and clean swimming area with soft sand under my toes. Watch out for the horseflies! It was a beautiful little getaway for the day. There are shelters and spots to BBQ, a walking trail, and you can take the dogs 🐕! I can’t wait to go back to Canoe 🛶 down the Edisto River ♥️ Highly recommend going if your family is looking for a random little outing.
The campground road is sandy dirt. The campsites are level but also sandy. The park rangers and friendly and helpful.
Quiet camping. Great place to camp and go explore the city of Aiken.
Very friendly staff, quiet park, dark sky, long leaf pine woods.
Aiken State park is a nice place for trip especially for families with kids. We enjoyed the trip there. And the artesian well is amazing!
Swimming area very cold and refreshing. I did find the park not to be kept up very well overall. Picnic tables are worn and old, place just needs to be kept up better.
You really MUST kayak down the Edisto. It was breathtaking. We laughed so hard as we paddled into the trees.
We camped there for 2 days the bath house was clean people are nice enjoy the stay
Fantastic Park! Will definitely be back! So much to do and see. Very well kept!
Seems like a nice place to go. They weren't running it while we were their but they offer a float trip.
We had a blast kayaking. Super easy and fun.
GREAT EXPERIENCE... Helpful staff and a very beautiful well run Park.. Number one place on my list to camp fish swim and spend a day hiking not to mention the kayak and canoe rentals...
Was not expecting to pay an admission fee, its 3 dollars per person in cash. Was 1000 percent worth it.
Used the Take out dock and paddled 2 75 miles upstream against the very strong current today. Water level at 10 feet.
Lovely quiet campground. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
This park has a really nice swimming hole and was really clean!
This is a beautiful park! The campground is very quiet and peaceful. Some of the sites are pretty small and it can be a little tight if you have a big rig. Nice walking trails and access to the Edisto River for canoes and kayaks.
This an out of the way place but one of the few places to camp along the Edisto River, the longest free-flowing Blackwater River in North America. Great place to paddle or fish. Home of the Blackwater Summer Festival every June. Home to the red breast sunfish.
When we went the little bridges were under water and many trees had fallen across the path. So we had to climb over the trees and swim 🏊♂️ in the swamp of Aiken to do the complete lap. Total about 2.3 miles but felt double that. Best of luck ☘ …
Enjoyed the campsite and amenities. Quiet and not crowded.
Great state park! The water from the wells is amazing! Don't be afraid to bring large rigs here 👍 …
Nice site and very quiet. The ranger was very helpful
My family go for a few days every year. We have a good time every time.
So quiet and zero internet, just how camping was meant to be. 4 stars bc the roads in the camping area and road out are a hazard
Good trails and a really cool fountain!
Very peaceful and quiet!
Nice quiet campground. It has 4 ponds for fishing, but we didn't have any luck. Park staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend
This is a very nice rustic campground and park. Not a lot has changed since I was a kid here 40 years ago. And I hope it never does.
Nice size campsites. Clean bath house. Plenty of room for the kids to run and play and ride bikes.
The staff was attentive and very pleasant.
Fun place to kayak and paddle board. With covid restrictions kayaking rental has to be booked in advance on their website and they do not offer shuttle services. Paddle boards can be rented for the pond for $10 and tends to be an option after 4pm on weekdays and earlier on weekends. Ask the nice lady in the booth!
very nice and peaceful, secluded and clean and great upkeep. We will be back, and Winston loved it too.
Sweet, quiet, serene camping experience. Beautiful location. Easy in and out but roads are a bit rough and no T Mobile reception. Verizon worked if you need that.
Very primitive trail and pretty views of Edisto River. It has been raining a lot here, so parts of the trail were flooded. Very clearly marked jungle trail. Boardwalks over parts of the wet parts. But the boardwalks are very slick from rain & moss. Lots of tree roots in the trail so be careful. Overall, a very adventurous hike. We are very glad we did this trail in the winter when mosquitoes, snakes and bugs aren't out.
Nice and quiet so far. We came trying to avoid the loud fireworks in and around our neighborhood.
Love this park! The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful, facility is clean and very well maintained. I have camped here numerous times while paddling the several nearby rivers. Campsites are spacious and level, shaded by tall pines, with nice bath houses.
Definitely expected more out of a State Park. Theres hardly any trails, its really just one trail that gets separated by the road, and its labeled foot traffic only yet the park allows bikes and horses. In not sure I'd waste my time to bike here, or trailer my horse out. Otherwise its Blbeautiful for a family get together, grill out, or to just chill by the lake.
We went fit a day trip and will definitely be back. We enjoyed hiking some trails and geocaching. Rangers there are fantastic!
Great SC State Park. We camped for 2 nights in their campground. They had a well maintained 3 mile hiking trail, nice playground, fishing areas, orienteering course, and more fun activities. There are only 25 campsites (which are sand) with only 1 bathhouse (3 stalls & 2 showers) but never had to wait in line. Our family enjoyed our time exploring and camping at Aiken State Park.
Nice place. 1st time there. But will be back.
And it's a girl
Aiken State Park is a good place to take your family and maybe have a family reunions or even a wedding in the Park it's a nice area they have the swimming area where the children can have fun and they have a trail matter of fact I went on the trail it was nice going through the trail but on the opposite side coming out of the trail they did not have any Bridges or something to walk on and it look like they had rain there and no one had checked the trail in a while especially in a small area of the trail and it look like two tree had fallen in the path of the trail. I talked to the Ticketmaster at the gate and she assured me that she would let the Rangers know other than that I had a beautiful day went on the other side where the fish were also
Nice campground. Paved entrances and roads, level spots, no trees or limbs in the way. Enjoyed our stay.
It's a nice small park with an area to swim or paddleboard in a small lake, there is one trail with a fair length (and is mostly through flat woodland) as well as a campground and places to fish. The entrance fee is 3$.
The main problem is the park has a single, one way road that encircles the whole area. If you are at the camp ground and want to go to the swimming area, you either have to walk the trail through the woods or drive all the way around the park, go back through the park entrance, and stop at the swimming area.
Be prepared for the bugs especially the ones that come out in the humidity. The eye gnats were terrible. Peppermint spray helped some. With that in mind, this is a nice state park that offers the usual picnic shelters, hiking trails, a small swimming area, several small lakes for fishing but also includes a stretch of the Edisto for canoes and/or kayaking. That's what brought us here. It was quite an adventure. Seen several types of fish we had never seen before like a redbreast sunfish and two fish with black and white stripes that looked like a small sheepshead fish as well as a small water moccasin. Yep... we all freaked out! The campground is small and peaceful in the middle of lots of pine trees. There was no host. Once you enter the campground, it is dirt/sandy roads with nice sites that are mostly level with plenty of space. There is a small store in the picnic area for collectibles but that's about all they have and they were only open for two hours daily. There are no stores close by with the nearest being a Dollar General five miles away. The ranger was nice as was the lady at the gate. The park was very clean and well kept considering the seemingly hands off approach and lack of staffing. Need to do some roadwork on the paved loop that circles the park. Very rough in areas. That's the only reason I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5.
My family and I went to visit the park on our adventure to visit every state park in SC. We really enjoyed the beauty and solitude of this park. Unlike some of the other state parks we have visited, this one was not too terribly travelled or crowded even on a beautiful Saturday like today.
The water is clear and beautiful. The campsites are layed out perfectly. The bath house is clean with great water pressure and everything works. The staff is super nice and, they go out of their way to make you feel at home. We will be returning often.
Serene area. I think you have to go camping to make the most of this area. There's lots of local activities to choose from. The walking trail interleaves several of the other sites on the compound. So, bring your hiking shoes and a towel. Don't forget your towel!
My family is trying to do the goal of hitting every state park in a year. This was the latest park. Now it's a little smaller than some of the other parks we've been to, but it's still a great park. It's got one of the flattest trails around which if you live in South Carolina you know it's hard to find a flat trail. It's called the jungle trail for a reason, mainly because it is really overgrown. But it's still beautiful. Now it's fall right now, so I'm sure in the summer there are a lot more bugs. but in the cooler weather it's a nice trail. We didn't camp at this park so I can't really give an opinion on the campsites. They do have two artesian drinking wells. That was actually a really neat find. The water is extremely cool and refreshing. And the Edisto River goes through the park so it's a beautiful area for kayaking. like I said it is a smaller park, the trail was under 3 miles, but for a nice little day trip it's worth it.
This is a quiet park with some terrific wildlife and nature viewing opportunities. In two days I saw a 4 ft checkered garter snake, a wolf spider, several whitetail deer, and numerous largemouth bass in the crystal clear, spring-fed pond. The rangers here are some of the nicest we've met anywhere, and the camp host greeted me on arrival. Great weekend stay!
Beautiful location! Can walk the nature trails at your own pace: listen, look, think and just absorb all that nature offers!
The Park staff is very helpful and extremely courteous. Make the trip and enjoy the serenity that our nature parks are intended to provide.
Nice park. Camping is allowed. There is a 3 mile nature trail as well as couple of lakes and canoe rental to use on the river. Cost is $2.00 per adult. $1.25 for seniors. There is a pass available good for all State parks in S.C. not familiar with cost
Rarely visited park, but quite the hidden gem. One of the best swimming holes around, you'll find this little swimming hole cool on a hot day! It's spring fed and the water is crystal clear. Be sure to visit the historic hinting cabins and find the geocache by the spillway. Great place to camp but I feel the one way roads make the park difficult to maneuver.
This is a nice large park. There's plenty to do including canoe tours. The trails are good but could use some work. The campground is really nice, the reason I gave this a four start over three, nestled in a lot of tall pines and very well maintained.
Had a baby shower under one of the shelters. It was a family affair so there was plenty for the kids to do! They fished in the pond and had swings and a slide and other playground equipment there to play on. We had a cook out. Just a special fun day at the park.
This place is steeped in history. Wonderful, educational resources throughout the park. The land is mature, large trees, plenty of shade to relax in while the kids swim. Swimming pond is clean and sandy on the bottom. Fishing lake is beautiful and fully stocked. Well Springs is refreshing. Bathrooms are clean. Lots of geocaches in this park. Lots to love at Aiken State Park.
It was a nice campground. Close to Aiken so drove into town for dinner and intertainment.
Close to Hitchcock woods for hiking.
Wonderful State Park. As always at state parks the staff is amazing. Really wanted to do the canoe trail but it was closed which is okay because you can see where they are doing a lot of work. Improvements need to be made to all our parks. When you see the donation box on the rangers desk please put money in it. I overheard the staff talking about how the money should be spent and although they weren't agreeing with each other ( lumber for fishing dock or new leaf blower) 100% goes to the betterment of the park. Love this place thanks to the staff for helping us and the wonderful memories.
Great relaxing park to camp in. Make sure you paddle the Edisto Rover while there!
Camp sites were easy to get into. The park is kept up very nice and clean. I would highly recommend this park to anyone just wanting to relax and enjoy a little nature.
This is a good park. I went there for an Eagle Scout project. We replaced the horse shoe pits and added a bench part way down one of the walking trails. We are going back this weekend to camp. My kids like ride bikes on the road. It used to be a two way road but they converted it to a one way loop a few years ago and it is much safer for bike riders.
Quiet lil state park campground. It's very dusty here. Good for fishing and kayaking down river.
Aiken State Park is a beautiful property. The sites are spacious and not right on top of one another. Great hiking trails. There are 2 negatives that will most likely keep us from returning. 1. The roads are terrible! There are huge potholes everywhere. 2. It's literally in the middle of nowhere. It's at least 15 miles to get anywhere.
Great place to.take family . They have picnic tables and trash cans. There is a spot where ducks play and you can fish ,sunbath , a covered picnic spot and restrooms. Aiken State Park is where folks have family reunions. I know they used to give guides hikes thru the park and cable rides. I think they open around 9am and close just before dark. A nice spot to ride bikes, picnic and enjoy time with your children.
A beautiful little hideaway! Aiken State Park is a hidden gem: a clean, quiet, well-maintained park with various activities for the family including swimming, canoeing, hiking and fishing. The campground is small but sites are clear and level. Restrooms are dated but clean. The headwaters of the Edisto River can be enjoyed with a canoe trip. If you're looking for a quiet, restful experience, Aiken State Park is definitely for you!
My first experience of Aiken State Park that is what I heard so much about an all the last 10 maybe 15 years I took a chance and want the scenery is beautiful sufficient I can't tell haven't caught a fish yet
Our family's favorite spot to take friends kayaking. It's a great clean camp ground with a nice park and swimming area. The kayaking route is perfect for a leisurely ride down the river and great for beginners.
nice place. roads need work too many pot holes. office closed. love the big pond will come back and fish with my boat since No one there too rent from.would like too see some rustic camp sites.
Natural Area is outstanding and beautiful but the canoe trail was "closed for repair" which doesn't make a lot of sense and it looks like it had been that way for a very long time. Normally one can rent a canoe at the park and take a 2 mile trip down stream which makes it very nice half day activity. The Edisto River is on the parks boundary, and is one of the most scenic rivers one could ever hope to see
Love this My children learned to swim here Its clean and beautiful ❤️
I went swimming.could have better bathrooms they are hot. an a better path to the swimming area so bring shoes you can slip on an off easy or you get real dirty feet. If you bring food be careful eating if you drop any the ants will find it and that mean they find you too. So if you drop it remove it fast. Over all it is quit outdoorsy an a nice get away area.
Beautiful scenery. Quiet and peaceful. Stayed there over the weekend and enjoyed it. Will definitely be back when it's warmer!!
This was my first trip to the park. Was very peaceful and serene. We walked the Jungle trail and it was great. Will go again when I return to SC.
My girlfriend and I wanted to just ride through to see the campgrounds to see if we wanted to camp there and they wouldn't let us without paying just to ride through, so we turned around and left
We had a great week camping peaceful and quiet
park ranger was one of the nicest Rangers, bathrooms are very clean, beautiful park with lots to do, very very very quite at night, we traveled from central Florida and we didn't want to leave so we stayed one extra night, book a canoe trip well worth it, as a family of 3 we can't wait to visit again and again, I highly recommend for beginning campers or for those who want some R&R. Thanks for the great long weekend and we shall see you soon!
Nice quiet little state park... I gave it 3 stars because the camp sites are really close, near on top of each other... I could hear the neighbor campers snore at night and smell what they are cooking... Would be alot better if it was spaced out a little more.
Great park, the only thing wrong with it was all the roads in the park. The stuff was very nice.
My BSA Troop camped in the primitive area and it was great. Very primitive compared to some of the others we have been to.
Had many fun experiences here. Not the best place to catch fish but has many fishing spots. Also has a nice little swim area and some trails.
Great campground, 25 spaces. Very clean and quiet.
We brought kayaks in and took the kayak trail. The river was pretty swift with lots of switchbacks. We went a mile down stream and paddled back up steam with some difficulty. It was very pretty and we will come back again.
First off we have enjoyed the South Carolina State Parks over the last several years. We recommend the annual pass which is a good deal if you plan to visit several. On May 23, 2019 we visited the Aiken State Park and had a fun experience canoeing down the Edisto River. We met Aaron Chavous, Park Manager, and Elisa also on staff. They were helpful in transporting us to the put in and take out docks. But they didn't stop there. We had the misfortune of loosing our car keys somewhere along the way. Aaron and Elisa spent extra time helping us search by helping us to retrace our steps and comb the area we had visited. They stayed with us and personally provided water and snacks for us as we had a long wait for a tow service to arrive and take us home to Columbia. We can't say enough good things about these two park staff for their professional, courteous and personal service to us that day. We wish to say another Big Thank You to Aaron and Elisa.
Very quite.Cute fishing pond caught sone crappie. Enjoyed the hike thru the woods. Could not get a cell phone signal
Very nice state park easy to get into and all paved getting to campgrounds.
If you want to get away from it all this is the place to go. Couple of trails and four fishing ponds. Just a heads up, park ranger only works from 11-12 then 4-5, at least that was his hours while we were there during our stay during evacuation from hurricane Dorian.
Very nice and quiet place to hike. Must return to finish the trails.
The park ranger was amazing; he went well beyond in accommodating us for the Jon boat rental. Just needs a little dredging to deepen the water and balance the game fish & pretty fish populations.
Very neat and clean park. Sites are large and separated from others. Biggest negative is that they are also super sandy. Bring a camping rug to keep sand out of the camper.
Have to give it 5 stars because it's so close to home.I have been going since I was around 9 years old. That's 46 years !! Not much has changed. There are tons of birds if you stop to look and listen. It's a unique habitat with a great black water river.
Small state park but has everything, hiking trail, swiming pond, fishing lake, camping tent/rv,cabins, and canoeing along edisto river, very good place to go for a weekend with the family
Very clean and well maintained/well laid out. Friendly and helpful park rangers. Lots to see and do here; swim, kayak, fish, picnic, hike. A hidden treasure.
It is very quiet and relaxing. There are 25 sites in the camping loop and a single bath house. The ranger and the current camp hosts are the best we've seen in South Carolina.
My family has gone here since we were children and I've taken my kids since they were little and now they take theirs. We've celebrated birthdays and holidays there. So many wonderful memories!
Nice quiet camp ground.
Spent this past week in Aiken State Park. The park is beautiful, super clean bathhouse with hot water. The lots are a bit on top of each other — plenty of close by attractions downtown to check out.
Big improvement since last year - got LTE connection on Verizon. We'll maintained and still feels remote. Bath facility is clean and hot water is hot.
You get embraced by nature at it's finest!
Was good for the most part shower house were clean. Dark and quite at night.
Great hiking trails, clean and cared for trails that are safe. Swimming areas, camping areas, and playground. Nice place for a family, an adventure or casual gathering. Lots of nice woods and rivers, and ponds.
Some of my family and I went camping here while in town for a family reunion. It was wonderful. The people were polite and helpful. Bathrooms were CLEAN and well kept!! Great place to take the family.
Small park but for like $2 a person not much to complain about. Some of the trails need repairs to bridges but park appears clean whenever we go.
Quiet clean campground. The roads are sand and have several large pot holes. Need to drive cautiously
A nice state park. My only complaint from my first visit is lack of wi-fi, simply for the purpose of contacting people in your group or in case of emergency.
Awesome place though I recommend bringing bug spray as we went in June and after rain. When the water trail opens I'd like to go back.
Clean restrooms. Excellent RV spots. Artisan wells are amazing. They have canoes to rent to check out the Edisto river. Really awesome spot.
Very interesting place. It has a little bit for everyone. Camping, fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking, beautiful little parks to sit and enjoy nature. I will go again.
Best place to bring the family camping or a day trip. We love going down the river in the kayaks, and the artisan wells are a must while your here
Took our own canoe, as they are not currently renting. Nice, quiet float on the small river. Very peaceful.
Nice quiet park, nice fishing lakes and picnic area
Great little day park or overnight camp spot. Summer has lots of gnats and mosquitos, but it's expected in the warm months in the pine trees.
Good little place, nothing really outstanding.
Lovely, quite place, you can swim when. It's the season. Grill, camp, they have geocashing. Long walking trails. Friendly staff
Densely wooded trails and ponds adjacent to Edisto River and blackwater swampland.. Bring jugs to fill with the ice-cold artesian water fountain.
Beautiful place. There going to start working in the river to move and cut trees out of the canoes and kayakers way. That will be awesome.
Fun cheap place to go swiming on a weekend. Never camped there. Wish they had a shower room to wash off sand after swimming
One night stay in a tent. The ranger was very friendly. The kids enjoyed the playground and nature hike.

Great camp sites, we had multiple sites with tents, a hammock, at least two campers. Hookups worked well with exception to one campsite pole shorting out. She left in middle of the night.I suggested she talk to park about a refund. For me, my site was shared and was fine. Sites were all clean. There is a nice fire pit and circle in a clearing, it was cold and we made use of it two evenings. The camp host was nice and did a good job of keeping areas and bath house clean, the rangers were helpful and pleasant and assisted two of us when oddly, we both had dead car batteries over our stay. The only issue I have is that we were mis-guided when we rented a canoe. We inquired as to safety of river since a hurricane had recently come through the state and were told it was "clear and there are no issues". That was not the case. In fact it was very dangerous and we had to be rescued by a fisherman. It was a cool but gorgeous day. The fisherman, who is local, said he was about to pull out as it was so dangerous when he heard my whistle. The ranger did provide us life jackets, but they were too large and I actually said that when we received them. I wish we had been properly fitted since we were relying on the person who outfitted us. I did have a whistle on mine and that is what got us rescued when we capsized after getting caught in the fallen trees in the Edisto River. I understand they cancelled all canoe rentals after we reported the incident but I feel the rangers should be trained as to the river's safety as it is a state park. Having that been said, they did the responsible thing by cancelling rentals temporarily and we did enjoy our stay. I would go back but will not ever rent canoes without a guide on an old historic river such as the Edisto.
Close but not much to do

2nd time here. Clean, quiet, very friendly and helpful. Love walking the trails. Very nice place to go.
