Reviews of Chino Hills State Park
Good trails and rolling hills. The patterns the hills make along with the springtime green and blooms add interesting play on patterns and colors from the hill tops. Very unique. Only draw back on the hiking is it’s fully exposed so can get pretty hot. Bring lots of water and snack like cliff bar you’ll need it.
The place is lush and breathtaking. It is relaxing to hike and the nature is spectacular. There's so much trail to go to but we didn't get to go to the trails because it was closed due to the ongoing rain. However the place is good for hiking with friends family and even your lover. If u like nature this place is a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors. Be ware that wild life is also present in this state park at around early evening. While we were about to go back to our to our parking lot we could hear coyotes howling. So beware of your surroundings especially in the late afternoon where its almost the end of sunset. Wild life exists and its part of nature's habitat. Don't stay too long especially when it's the end of the day just for safety.
Great park! With lots of trails for Biking, Hiking, you may choose to see a different view with every visit. From mountains to meadows, hills and valleys, you can find a new path each time. There is a campground, Rolling M in Chino Hills (via Bane Canyon entry/exit). You can also visit from Corona near the Green River Golf Club, and Yorba Linda at Chino Hills visitor's center, a great place to find out info and bring the kids. Garden paths on this side provide a quiet place to let them roam.
If you go there on a weekday, there are not many people inside. You can drive in directly, follow the road, and park wherever you see a parking lot. $3 an hour, $10 a day for free parking. The park does not require tickets. Go in January, the flowers are not blooming, and it is still in winter, but looking at these natural scenery from a distance, it is really refreshing, and it feels like it is in the painting. Imagine how spectacular it would be if flowers bloomed all over the hillside. It's worth a visit. Just a bit far.
Good place for hiking, but more recommended for mountain biking right now. Theres a couple picnic tables scattered around if interested.
As of summer 2022, the area has been very dried out compared to some older pictures due to the drought. Don't expect to see flower fields at the moment. There's minimal shade and easy to get far deep into the hills, so come prepared and stay hydrated.
Hopefully this place come back around soon.
We visited Chino Hills State Park in April. Nature looks really beautiful. I suggest nature and trail lover to visit this place in spring season. We park car at street reaching at park. If you don't want to walk lot, go with car up hill and at entrance gate pay $10 for parking. We walked as my family likes trail and walking. The day visited was partially cloudy and pleasant. If you are visiting Chino Hills State Park, you also can visit Baps Shree Swaminarayan temple, which is really beautiful and closer to park. Both together is perfect a day trip! We enjoyed nature.
It is recommended to go hiking in March and 4🈷️ each year, preferably after several successive rains. Marigolds will suddenly appear on hillsides. I miss the time I spent here with my daughter. I hope everyone stays healthy, even with this virus. …
1st time at this park. Very beautiful this time of year. Bet during summer it's brutal and ugly 😔 Wish it would stay like this all year round
Cons, don't appreciate the fact I saw signs that said no dogs allowed on the trail. Electric and motorized bikes, I get it but can't go hiking or running with your pup pal... forget that
CAMPERS: Just got back from a short overnight stay here and we couldn’t have loved it more. Can’t say what this looks like in other seasons but It is absolutely gorgeous during spring time.
$30 a night with $7.99 registration fee
Includes one car with registration
$5 per night for additional vehicles
Clean flush restrooms with soap dispenser
Showers with warm water
Each site includes: lantern/lamp post, grill, and picnic table. There are fire pits but they’re lock and not to be used due to the high fire risks in the area. You’re allowed portable pits that have a turn off button that uses propane.
You do get hikers walking by and driving by occasionally but it didn’t bother us one bit. They kept to themselves.
Sites are on a hill so you have gorgeous views all around. Trails are a short walk in every direction.
No cellular service but they do offer wifi. Which is both good and bad. Good for emergencies but bad for disconnecting.
Print a copy of your confirmation and place on the dashboard of your car. We forgot ours at home and when we parked our car at a trailhead for a hike we got a $71 ticket. Our fault so can’t complain. Had to dispute online.
Lastly, the park check park hours because once the park closes you can’t get in without the lock code. You’ll need to call in during business hours (M-F 8am-4pm) and get a code. Codes changes weekly so make sure to communicate with the park for details.
All in all we really enjoyed our little quick escape from the city. Only a short drive and you’re surrounded by nature.
Very nice views and different types of flowers all over the place. Kids loved it, we only did about 3 miles each way, maybe next time we'll go a but further.
Beautiful place for the whole family. Id take bug spray and lots of water. Nice place for a picnic. You will be walking a lot. Many trails to take and beautiful sites to see. 🚶🌳 …
The majestic beauty of nature and creation is right at our fingertips, or a small walk/jog away. Check the Chino Hills State Park website for details on safely hiking the trails and accommodations (per trail).
My wife and I paid $10 to enter the park. We hiked Aliso trail for 2+ hours and enjoyed it. There were so many wild flowers the landscape looked like a painting. The weather was perfect, sunny but mild. We will definitely come back. Since the road is so narrow and many sections are single lane only, I think weekend traffic will be bad.
Awesome trails good connection paid parking good for group hike bike horse riding greats trail network portable potty at four corners perfect place to hang out very well connected 🙏 …
I love the park a lot, here is like a paradise ! I came to the park for wild flowers, I felt so peaceful and quiet here. I
This park is huge…great for family trip! Entry cost $10/car, but roadside parking outside entrance is free
Nice park for a hilly workout. Very green right now, but not a lot of wildflowers right now. Not a lot of shade so wear sunblock. 2023/02/04 update: This is the year for wildflowers! We’ve had much needed rain and the wildflowers are coming along nicely.
My favorite place to go mountain biking at. Lots of trails and right next to carbon canyon regional park which itself is great too. Parking is somewhat expensive at the discovery center, 10$ for the whole day. A better alternative is to park at carbon canyon regional park for 3$ for the whole day.
A great place to hike and mountain bike. If you just want take a hike, you can simply park your car by the entrance on Elinvar or Sapphire. Otherwise you can park deep inside the park for only $5. The view is awesome, but it’s pretty much all dried up in late May.
Came here on a gloomy afternoon. Aside from the gray weather, it was a nice hike all around. Many, many trails to explore. The hills were not green like I'd hoped, and there were hardly any wildflowers, but we enjoyed ourselves regardless. There is a parking lot at the bottom which many people were parking at and hiking up, but we drove up the hill about a half mile and parked in one of the other lots instead. Plenty of choices here for any level of hike you're in the mood for.
It's April and of course the poppies, mustard flowers and tons of other flowers on the hills are blooming during this season. There are a lot of trails for you to pick to hike on, short or long, easy or moderate. But please, make sure to stay on the trails and do not pick or step on the wild flowers. Also, the weather is getting warmer, make sure to bring enough water to keep yourself hydrate. And one last but not least important thing is, the warmer the weather the snakes will come out & BIG spiders (the body is almost as big as a child's fist) so be cautious.
I love this place. Flowers are in bloom and makes the hike even more beautiful to looks at. This is more of a moderate to advance hike I would say since, for me, it was a little difficult with my kids. Other then that it's it's amazing place. You do want to get there early for parking as it does get packed. I do recommend here for hiking.
Parking is hard to come by. You’ll have to park in the neighborhood and probably walk a quarter mile (maybe more if it’s a really busy day). Walking up to the trail is dangerous because you are walking along the narrow road cars drive up and down. The road is so infuriatingly narrow that it’s a miracle that any cars can drive up while other cars are simultaneously driving down!
Chino hills state park - nice park and is way better and offers way more than you first see.
Be prepared to do some serious hiking, maybe even biking. The park after you find a parking spot, you can park at the entrance, no cost or go into the middle and pay your $5 and park the whole day.
Then choose which path to undertake, it’s no easy journey or for the light hearted.
The walk will be different depending on which way you choose, I looked around and chosen a steeper incline, this way I’d see more, to be honest I bit off more than I could chew.
I turned back halfway, the humidity for me not being native and my seasonal allergies, was not wanting to bring a nuisance to myself.
Took more of a drive through the park and did see other things that I could get up to upon a return visit.
Overall, refreshing and was not expected.
Beautiful rolling hills and vegetation. Doesn't feel like you're in Southern California. Two miles into the park, from the north entrance, the Bane Canyon Rd Trailhead was an easy hike and incredibly beautiful. It's about a 1 mile hike to Aliso Canyon Rd. People were socially distancing, but once in a while there was a group or cyclists not wearing masks. I felt safe though. $5 per vehicle.
Pretty awesome nature walk. What me and my fam appreciated the most was the breeze. The most annoying part about most trails in Southern Cali is the lack of shade. A lot of Instagram-able spots here and a lot of different trails to choose from... I think around 40. Definitely will be back for more..
Maybe unfair because I'm rating it in the nicest time of year to come here. Still, lots of flowers in bloom, a ton of hiking options and overall great views of the surrounding area. Would come back to explore the seemingly endless paths and trails here. Bring water and sunscreen as there isn't a lot of sun cover.
Nice place for a light hike or for biking. Beautiful hills. Parking is $6 for two hours. The park next door is $3 and has a small connection to get to the state park.
$5 to get in n park close to explore. A lot of trails to choose from. Great place to escape from the city jungle n enjoy sea of greenery n fresh air.
Tips..if u park on the street to walk into the state park to save the $5. Its a steep walk n u r pretty much done by the time you got to the entrance. You won't hv anything left to explore the park further.
All trails were closed, but it was still accessible if you stay on the pavement.
The views were magical, greenery everywhere with poppy flowers here and there.
It looks so good after the precipitation california had in last few weeks.
Living next to this park, I try to make it as part of my weekend routine to walk/hike through to breathe in the fresh air and to see how much greener and livelier the hills are becoming. I start my trips from the Sapphire Road/North Entrance of the park, walk up the Bane Canyon Road, and pick a trail to hike for the day.

Beautiful in spring. The rangers are really helpful and guiding. Only suggestion I'll make is if you can take a smaller car, since there are narrow roads where two large cars can't cross each without backing up.
Awesome park. So many trails for hiking and biking. We hiked one of the many trails. Will be back soon for other.
So many trails so little time. There are trails for all levels of hiking. The views are beautiful and you are outdoors in wide open spaces.
Adventure connoisseurs and nature lovers are sure to find their bliss in China Hills State Park. Nestled in the foothills of the scenic Santa Ana Mountains, this state park is mainly a botanical haven and a habitat for migrating and resident wildlife.
The park also boasts several horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking trails. Intrepid travelers can spend hours hiking along ridges and through valleys of grasslands, sage scrub and woodlands.
The park has facilities to make your getaway even more pleasurable, like a historic barn, picnic spots and campsites.
Such a beautiful place to be! Lots of great shots taken at this location. Nice trails. Come early before it's too hot and enjoy 💛 wildflowers Fields. …
Here is a wonderful place for family hiking, kinds of levels, not too crowded if you come on workday.
$5 parking fee to being your car in. A FAR WALK if you plan to walk from the very front wooden gate to the park entrance. This is a beautiful time of year to go, as there is not protection from the sun, and the hills are currently beautifully green and dotted with poppies! Looks a lot like what I imagine Ireland looks like haha
Great for taking walks, hiking, running, trail running and biking. Wonderful protected area for seeing local wildlife and flora.
Please care for and protect this precious island of nature within a sea of growing cities.
Awesome state park! Beautiful views and nice trails. Recommend taking the eastern fence trail, make a left at the nopales for a nice viewpoint and right to continue down a trail towards more hills. Love this park and come to the trails regularly. A great dog-friendly park.
The park is exceptionally beautiful with serene and scenic views. A good way to burn and test your cardiovascular. Right now is certainly the best time to take any professional or Instagram worthy photos. The flower fields were surreal as it could get. Almost as if you could use your photos as a windows desktop background lol. There is an abundant amount of trails within the park so I must warn you that it could be overwhelming and a bit confusing when attempting to navigate especially if there little to no signal from your phone.
My girlfriend and I decided to enter this park from the Chino Hills entrance.
We parked our car off Elinvar Dr where there were 20+ cars parked for the park. This street was perpendicular to the street with the park entrance (Sapphire Rd). There's a long paved road that takes you far into the park for miles leaving you at the Rolling M Campground. We decided to speed walk for the whole duration of this paved road that has a short series of inclines and steep hills.
At the end of the paved road, we finally entered the trail from the south side through the upper aliso trail. The trail started off with a lot of room with a bit of shaded trees. As we kept walking, the trail started to get narrow with the surrounding flowers and plants caving in and we noticed two mountain bikers heading our way. These guys were filled with pollen stuck to their clothes and they warned us about the narrow trail they had just got through.
Our biggest mistake here was following the all trails app and taking the upper aliso trail (8 miles) without making a right into the sidewinder trail which I'm assuming the mountain bikers came through. The trail started to get so narrow, my girlfriend and I found ourselves in a struggle to even walk through the flowers and plants. I know it doesn't seem like anything crazy but it was extremely overwhelming with the pollens literally covering your whole body. We felt like after a couple of miles of this, we would've ended up out of the trail safely but instead resulted in a dead end. The trail took you to a tree and a small creek that showed no signs of any type of trail. We turned around and this supposedly 8 mile hike ended up turning into a 12 mile hike. The park ranger should've blocked that trail to protect people rather than misleading them to a dead end. It can be dangerous if you started this hike later in the afternoon. We started at 8 A.M. and didn't finish till 2 P.M. but we walked from the neighborhood. Won't be taking that route anytime soon...
This park was great before the fire. As you can see by the photo it's just naked hills. Parking is very limited in side and most people park on the street outside. If you do this it is a very steep long climb to get to the main gate. The camp ground is closed as is the stable. (1-2021). Now if you're a hard core mountain bike person this place is great. There are miles of trails to ride and almost no people on weekdays. If you're a road bike rider you will get a great workout on the main road. It's all hills.
A great place for hiking. California poppies and wild flowers are beginning to bloom ( as of 03/13/2021)
Extremely hard to find a parking spot if you come at 10:30 am-3:00 pm. Otherwise, this is a very nice place to go in Spring. Remember to keep your mask on!
It was difficult to find where the wild flowers were located. I wish there was a specific location on the map that was pointed out to me. It cost five dollars to get into the park and takes about 10 minutes to drive from the I 15 entrance. The state park rangers were very helpful. The trail for the wildflowers was called 'horse' sometime. The road was dirt to get to the parking lot. The main road in the park though it’s paved. I have a little Honda Civic and was easily able to maneuver the roads.
Beautiful trail with breathtaking views. It is super long, I don't know how long it is but a super google search shoul do it. It a manin train and that leads to many many more trails. It's not overcrowded and has restrooms near the camping ground. Definitely reccomend it.
Free to walk into the park. Parking is 5 dollars if you drive into the park. Park has limited parking inside but you can park on the street in front of main entrance. Beautiful place to go on a hike. Many trails for single track riding and hiking. Really not much to see out there but it is definitely a nice nature walk or ride in the area
Please note that this place is good for hiking and mountain biking! For real try yourself, challenge yourself on these roads. The nature is very beautiful. The environment is amazing and fabulous! Visit Chino for sure :)
Loved the nature center which is full of information re the surrounding flora and fauna. The hike to the Redwood grove was easy and we were delighted by the beauty and enormity of the trees and seating areas. The large number of people was disappointing as the children were loud and people blocking the trail by stopping on the trail for chatter.
GREAT day for a hike in Chino Hills State Park. Sun is shining along with some grey rain clouds on the horizon makes for some interesting photos. We love this place.
#BrokerDon
Looks so beautiful. Everything is growing again and the hike was amazing.
Always nice place for hike and run during colder months. Last fire had burned many areas also many large oaks trees were burnt but I see the new life emerging.
This place is amazing. So many trails for biking and hiking. This is the most beautiful I've ever seen it with all this rain. It's so green and lush.
This is an awesome hike especially if you are walking in from the entrance. You can park inside for a $5 fee. I recommend driving in to be able to explore more.
Beautiful hiking trails, especially during the poppy season. Parkings killer though, parked like two clocks from entrance. Short walk though 🙂 …
It’s beautiful to take a walk inside the Mountains. If the plants is high, it’s best to go with sticks and make sound before you go ahead, just in case of snakes.
It is absolutely gorgeous this year! The flowers were so vibrant and plentiful, I'm happy to have visited. Plus, entry was only $5!
So beautiful. Quite a few trails. One is short and others are really long. We walked for 2hours and there was still so much to go.
Great local trails to explore. Requires $5 parking fee per car, make sure to take a $5 bill. If you have a bigger bill, you'll be donating the rest. Went up the bane Ridge Trail to check out the wild poppy flowers fields. Drive up until you reach the house trail. Make a right into the trails and park in the big dirt parking lot. The trail entrance is on the right once parked. The poppy field isn't huge but it's still a great sight to see.
I would advise you to wear long pants as you are walking through fields of flowers and weeds and it can be itchy if you're not covered. Fairly easy walk, just a mild incline.
If you're going for the poppy flowers, might be better to go closer to noon. This allows the flowers to bloom and open.
Always a beautiful place to go for some outdoors activities. Spring 2019 sure made it even more beautiful. You can get as many miles of hiking, running and mountain biking out here.
I work 11 pm to 7:30 am Thursday through Monday nights in Moreno Valley. Some times it is 8:30 am. I start to fall asleep at the wheel. I pull off the 91 Freeway, park under a bridge for shade & fall asleep until I am safe to drive again. Homeless guy on bike opened my door looking for cigarettes. End of story.
5 dollar parking ok lots of trails to hike to camp ground looks good campground you can drive to 3 maybe 5 miles
Great day for a hike lots to see the wild life was out as well
It's a very nice place with lots of trails for different skilled level hikers. Can get extremely crowded though. My advice is drive in instead of walking in. The $5 entrance fee is totally worth it to maximize exploring the park, not to mention it helps sustain the park. Long sleeves and long pants are recommended due to natural habitat and environment.
Great views, moderate intensity hike, limited parking inside but plenty of parking on the road at the entrance to the park.
Such a great park with many hiking trails. Bike friendly also is always a plus 😊 …
Nice trail. Friendly people, moderate hiking trail, very clean. More than 10miles. Different types of trails, easy, and difficult, challenging.
Beautiful time of year to go. Great place to take the family hiking. Some trails are steeper than others, makes for a great workout.
Great place to ride it offers mild entry level trails to some very challenging steep climbs
It is a beautiful place after the rain in Winter and Spring. Also, a great place for hiking.
Nice park but for walking perhaps it's quite far and no benches and all. For mountain biking great tho.
I love the trails on the West side of this park near Carbon Canyon regional park. In years with heavy rain the wildflowers can over grow the trails but it's beautiful. Like this review if you agree.
Nice open, scenic views of rolling hills. Lots of the yellow flowers. Crowded and high exposure to sun though
The abundance of yellow flowers is beautiful!! Can't imagine it being that great without them but after this rainy season it's so gorgeous. Go enjoy it while you can!
Gorgeous place to visit, with all kind of different side roads. Beautiful
Gorgeous hike in the hills if you can make it in spring after plenty of rain.
Gorgeous park in spring but as of March 12, 2019 all trails were closed and the entrance near Carbon Canyon was closed and people were making their own and trampling on wildflowers. Rangers only at entrance not around the park stopping people from destroying it.
This is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Super close yet so far away. The winter months are truly spectacular.
I really appreciate the beauty of nature. Watch out for snakes. I’ve seen one on the road..
The park is far larger and more rustic than expected, with very little development. It felt more like a visit to a (country living) friend's house as we stayed on the east side of the park. We checked out the campground (small but ok), the "Ranch," and biked a little. The ranch had nothing to offer mid-week by way of exhibits or activities--you need to visit the west side for that. The bike trails seemed like fire access dirt roads--there were a lot of hills making the biking tough for our novice family. Mountain bikers who know what they're doing and have good gear love these trails. We saw two groups of horseback trail riders--that's the way to do it! There's a dirt lot where trucks and horse trailers parked and riders rode from there. We saw a coyote in the campground! That was the highlight for my city slicker kids. It was good to feel so separated from civilization and we can't wait to visit when it's green.
Love this place!! $5 parking fee but worth it!!
You can park for free on the street and hike up but it’s pretty far lol
Great trails. very beautiful during this time. Worth exploring!!!!!
Went on an awesome hike. Everything is so green and flowers everywhere after all our rain
Great place for hiking. Beautiful landscape in LA metropolitan area.
Omg beautiful a great place to hike
Great place to take dogs I highly recommend
Great place to go hiking, mountain biking, not alot of people, plenty of trails...
The photos and video are from March 2019. It was the wettest spring in years and the "superbloom" of wildflowers was spectacular. You don't see the bloom while driving in from the drive-in entrance at Saphire Rd (off Soquel Cyn at Elenvar Rd) because you're looking at the north slopes of the hills. But once you get into the park and look north, you see old oak trees that survived fires surround by green grasslands and golden poppy mixed with dramatic purple and white flowers.
After the Tongva-Gabrieliño Indians were rounded up into missions, the Spanish at Mission San Gabriel grazed their cattle among the hills there. The hills probably haven't changed much since. Driving in is like driving back in time. Most of the park, including the campground are almost completely isolated from the noise of the surrounding suburbia and four major freeways. At night you hear coyotes, owls, frogs, nighthawks and occasionally a distant train making it's way up the Santa Ana Canyon alongside the 91 freeway.
The campground can get muddy when it rains. It has 4 restrooms and 4 showers, but no RV hookups and usually no cell reception. There are a few places in the park with cell coverage. Maybe the entrance station and higher peaks. Because there are coyotes and sightings have been reported of bobcats and mountain lions, it's a good idea to keep smaller children within sight.
Campsites are no shade to some shade by small oak trees scattered around. Looking south-east from the campground is a good view of Santiago Peak in the Santa Ana mountains, on the other side of the Santa Ana Canyon and the 91 freeway.
The only street entrance to the park is gated. Campers get the code to open the gate if they pay for a site then decide to leave the park and return after the 5PM closing time. So you don't have people joy-riding through the campground after dark. If you can do without cell reception (which could be more of a blessing than a curse, especially if you have "digital" kids) and RV hookups, the Rolling M Ranch campground is unique in it's wilderness setting in the midst of Southern California suburban hustle and bustle.
Long, paved road with several dirt trails for hiking, bikes, and horseback riding. The paved portion is great for muggy days when there's sprinkling or you're just not sure if it's going to rain. There are cars that drive through so follow the speed limit and watch for pedestrians if you're driving and pay attention to distracted drivers if you're on the road.
So beautiful! The parking fee is $5. It is a place for a nice weekend hiking.
My favorite thing about these trails was they were far enough from the roads and houses that you couldn't hear the vehicles, barking dogs, and leaf blower machines!
We went on a Saturday evening about 90 minutes before sundown so it wasn't very crowded. Parked on the road by the residential area and walked into the park. We would go again!
One particularly interesting part of our visit was the tarantula we found crossing our path. We've never seen one in person before! It was nearly as long as my cellphone!
Lots of nature. Beautiful sceneries. Good trail in Chino Hills.
It's a nice park with minimal people during this time of year. It has beautiful scenic hillside views for many miles. During the summer it gets ridiculously hot here and it's best to finish riding by 9am-ish.
The majority of the park including a campground has been burned by wildfires. At lower elevations, there are many surviving oak trees. It's mostly fireroads and not particularly technical. Did 26.5 miles with 2,800 feet of climbing.
Beautiful place with beautiful views marred by horrible patrons.
Sometimes natural beauty can be so amazing, especially if this is the most wild/naturey/undeveloped thing you know of outside of the urban sprawl.
But it's no excuse to leaving your courteousness at the front gate
There's people walking, why not slow down a bit? Especially if the road can only fit 1 car at a time, and you're that 2nd car trying to squeeze by.
Amazing trails. Feels amazing to be in nature without the noise of the city. Def will be back to explore further!
Great park. Has beautiful rolling hills and nice trails that are good for families. Even though there were many visitors, it was still manageable to get around and find parking.
This place is nice for hikes. I was lucky to go when the flowers were blooming.
Find available street parking outside the entry gate on Sapphire Rd. and hike/bike in for no cost, or you can pay the $10 fee to drive in. From the entrance, it's a 3 mile paved road that leads to the campground and day use parking areas. There are ~95 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, with several trail access points along the road. Most trails are easy to moderate, some can be difficult (mostly in terms of steep slopes and elevation gain.) The park is extremely busy with limited parking during wildflower season (usually late February through early May) but very peaceful and quiet for the whole rest of the year.
You can also make campsite reservations online, $30/night for the first vehicle and $5/night for each additional vehicle. Restrooms and showers are available on site!
The park has great birdwatching and other wildlife sightings since it's an essential wildlife corridor between the Santa Ana Mountains to the south and the Puente Hills to the west. There are plenty of birds: red tailed hawks, cooper's hawks, american kestrels, peregrine falcons, barn owls, great horned owls, and the occasional golden eagle, lots of ravens, turkey vultures, roadrunners, and a large variety of songbirds. There are small rodents like rabbits, squirrels, and even some weasels, as well as larger mammals like coyotes, bobcats, and deer, and a mountain lion has been seen on very rare occasions. Lots of reptiles: rattlesnakes, gopher snakes, striped racers, alligator lizards, fence lizards, and desert horned lizards. There's the typical variety of bugs and insects, but especially noteworthy are the tarantulas, tarantula hawk wasps, and scorpions!
There's a large variety of native trees, shrubs, and grasses, in addition to some widespread invasive species (primarily mustard and thistle.) Everything has grown back abundantly and beautifully since the Blue Ridge fire in fall of 2020, so it's a great place for a drive, ride, hike, leisurely saunter, or just to relax for a few hours!
Excellent for hiking. A good way to get away from the city without going too far.
We went on 2021-04-09 through north entrance of the park and the view is so good. The wild flowers are everywhere literally everywhere. The landscape is so good and you can start to enjoy it from the park gate itself. From April, Park is open between 8am to 7pm. If you don’t want to spend much time, you can do street parking and start to walk into the park. Even if you peek into the park, you can eyewitness the wonder of nature. You can take the car inside too and you will be having view points on the way. But in my opinion, the walk from park gate will give you lot of good views. It’s crowded and if you want to avoid crowd, better take car and go inside (fee $5)for few miles and then start your hiking or sight seeing. The hiking is easy and long and you can go as much as you want into this yellow flowerbed.. have enough water & snacks as these are open trails. And don’t forget your DSLR and you can dress up for taking nice pictures..
Great place, just wish they were open till later in the day year round.
Grest place for riding and hiking. Intermediate place and lots of shade throughout the trail.
Ideal place to see wild animals
Pretty good view, park across the park to save time and money
Green grass with some patches of orange poppy. It will become more and more beautifully the following weeks.
Trail was a little muddy in some sections where rain water puddled but drying out, and the trail was less dusty on this ride. Until you got closer to four corners and the wind kicked up the dust. A great trail and ride! Met some good people at the covered seating area.
Beautiful place. Camp ground and biking/walking trails are present. You can also drive for about a mile inside the park.
Just stunning. Everyone is curteous on the trails. We will be back!
Nice trials but mostly bare land with no trees. In the winter it's nice to walk around but I can't imagine in the middle fo the summer with no trees.
great place for hiking.. clean. quiet. pretty..
Huge park with stunning views. Lots of wildlife flying and scurrying around!
Great park and campground but crowded when the flowers are blooming. Plan for at least a 30 minute wait to get in.
Quarantine still has most of it closed, but beautiful regardless - even on the paved road. Lots of eye candy as well ♡
Really hot, need to start your hike early in the morning
You can bring dogs here but dogs are not allowed walk trails. They are only allowed on road. It wasn't bad because the road is 2 miles long. Plus, it's not good time for flower yet. Also, bring 5 bucks for entrance fee.
Great park to visit for the day bring lots of water. Tons of great locations for photography
This is a beautiful park that has many trails. Unfortunately, many of the trails do not have shade so bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water. I arrived at 8 am and it was crowded but soon everyone was spread out so no worries there. Park hours are 8 am - 5 pm and a $5 day-use fee, quite a bargain. Enjoy the outdoors and be cautious.
Nice spring flowers but trails were closed. Check before you come
Beautiful!! You can drive all the way up !
Beautiful park with easy to moderate trails. But be aware of snakes. Don't walk on the narrow trails with tall grass or flowers because it's hard to see if there is a snake. I almost stepped on a colorful snake. Even if the map indicates there is a trail, stay on the wider trails.
Awesome place to get away for a trail run, bike ride or hike.
Want great scenic work out this is your place year round, come early and watch some wildlife
It’s a beautiful place, but I visit here in wrong season(winter)🤣😂😅 …
You can park on the street or drive up and park inside the park for a fee. We went in spring when it's overcast so it's good. I won't go in summer late morning since there's no shades.
Great!
Wild eagles.
A little boring in winter. But no one else in the park, it feels good.
There are some wonderful single track hiking trails available. Wild birds, birds of prey, deer, coyotes, tarantulas, snakes, and lizards, are all on display for those willing to invest a couple of hours. Bring water and a sun hat as it can get very dry.
Flowers are abundant after the rainy season (early Spring).
Enjoy!
Lots of hiking trails. Parking is only $5. Lots of beautiful flowers during the spring time. Love it.
Literally the most BEAUTIFUL park especially during the spring time. Went for my birthday in late March and HOLY green. Literally felt like I was in central California near San Luis Obispo. During summer & winter obviously may be a bit different as far as appearance but still awesome walk & scenery. Highly recommend!!
Awesome mountain bike trails here
Beautiful park with lots of hiking trails. My wifey and I went on a nice hike here. It was packed though. If you're looking for a nice solitaire hike this isn't the place to go. We came on a Saturday and there were alot of people. Beautiful scenery and lots of hiking options.
Best riding and hiking trails around.
Photos are taken by April 20, 2021. It’s an incredible experience.
Love this place! It's so gorgeous and there are many loops to try. There's always a breeze and you're quick to feel removed from the city. The hills are gorgeous when they're green or brown!
Some notes:
- there are snakes! Saw two yesterday
- dogs are only allowed on the paved paths
- don't go after it rains because the growth is quick and high! Makes it difficult if the growth hasn't been cut down on the trails.
It was a lovely place to take our scooters and ride with our daughter. We also enjoyed taking a hike in the canyon. I wish there had been more flowers to look it across the hills, however it was beautiful.
There was a fire there recently, but when the vegetation comes back it will be beautiful once again.
This place is over pack with people. Way way over pack. The flowers are very pretty and every one wants a photo of them. But it is a little ridiculous. It is pack when it opens til it close.
We were able to get some photos of it at the bottom of the hill. Is about 2 miles walk to get up the hill. With a little one. We didn't make the walk.
The people that visit the place aren't really nice to the flowers at times. They will do pretty much anything to get a good photo.
Fantastic destination for taking in nature. Even more so for those who love walking, hiking and trail running. The Telegraph Canyon Loop trail offers a 9.5 mile adventure with 1200 feet of elevation that can easily turn into 12-14 mile journey for those who don't pay attention to the trail markers.
Please note that dogs are not allowed on the trail. Rattlesnakes and all sorts of creatures are commonly seen throughout the trails, so be prepared to steer clear. Visit from September through May for the best weather conditions.
Nice big park. Lots of trails.
Beautiful, great place for a drive and a scenic hike!
Gorgeous rolling hills in the spring accompanied with inexpensive multi day park use! Plenty of picnic tables and paths to get lost in the wild flowers. Free parking just outside the park for the thrifty hiker.
Fantasic place to hike, mountain bike or just get away for a few hours. Just watch out for snakes when it's hot.
Close to the city but far enough to give you sense of being away from it all and a chance to enjoy nature.
Chino Hills is the best place on Earth. The superbloom is beautiful. I grew up there it's awesome I love it.
It's beautiful I have been going there for over 30yrs off and on to ride my horses. The only thing is having the bicycles and horses on the same trails is not good it's a accident waiting to happen.
Gorgeous view, some fun fire road mountain bike trails.
Beautiful scenery, plenty of parking on the street except for the second and fourth Tuesday of the month for the street sweeper in the morning or pay for parking inside.
There are multiple hiking trails. Most of them are quite long, but doable; however it's super worth it. The view is spectacular after a couple of years in the drought. There are a huge variety of wild flowers, and even butterflies too. Super worth it!
This park is so beautiful. The gently rolling hills are a vibrant green in the spring. There are 2 entrances to it that are far apart from each other so make sure you choose the right entrance. The Sapphire Road entrance allows you to drive into the park to easily access the campground and has the easiest access to the most beautiful hills.
A little dry this time of the year
Beautiful views and trails.
About one hour hiking needed to enjoy some little patches of California puppies.
I drove all the way up to the RV campground.
Beautiful day, saw lots of birds, bunnies, and lizards.
My favorite place to mountain bike. Telegraph canyon is a pretty easy trail. This is good for Seniors like me. There are some more difficult trails good for a more serious rider. Use caution right now, due to all the rain the trail is more obstructed than usual and hikers are not as easily seen when approaching.
To keep it relatively brief and short, I will sum it up like this... This place doesn't feel like it's within the state. Literally the scenery of this place have great resemblance of Switzerland. No need to travel to Switzerland for epic views because we got one right here at Chino Hills State Park. 16 square miles of vastness. Beware of coyotes. I seen a pack of 5. I'm sure they are friendly. Lol 😂
Worth a visit if you are in the area. Amazing wildflowers bloom in Spring
Beautiful scenic area. Clean area to also visit. Came here with a few of my friends for a nice sunset cruise. Definitely did not disappoint.
You will not have signal up in this area. And there are camping sites which you will have to secure permits for.
Recommend for any ages and all.
Simply did not know about this place until recently. It's an amazing park. Can definitely get busy but I suggest you make a day out of it. There are so many trails. Definitely carve out some time for this beautiful place. 5 dollars to enter the park. Cash only.
BEAUTIFUL TRAILS, and paths. Be careful there is wildlife, coyotes and other wild critters. Be respectful please, this is their home and we are just visitors. It's a wonderful place to hike or ride horses or bicycles. It doesn't get any more beautiful.
Out the garage and onto the trails. So many different trail combos to get 5, 10, 20 or more miles in. The seasons are nice too. With the rain, looks like Ireland! Always a great day in from the short hour loop to a long day of it. Connect to Prado Dam area as well and into Corona if you feel up to it!
Did a late afternoon hike. Lot nearly empty on a Saturday afternoon in January. $5 to park. The peak loop is closed so it's more of an up and back unless you want to turn your 9mile hike into 12miles. The lot has locked gates and closes at 17:00 and we got back to the car at 17:45 and restrooms were still unlocked and clean and the gates, thank you, were open so our car was not held hostage. Only danger we saw was the possibility of a fast downhill mountain biker crashing into you but everyone was polite and stayed to the left
Great hiking, biking, running and walking trails. Full of rolling hills, that after a good rain become green, but for the most of the year are golden. Be prepared to wear a hat and bring water since not much in terms of shade. Quite an amazing place to spend time at!
Awesome place for a confortable hike! Many paths to choose from! COME PREPARED! I didn't really think it thoroughly but be prepared for anything! 1 path took me to meet 12 tarantulas and a full grown bobcat! Keep your distance and keep a positive mindset! (P.S! Park closes at 5pm! Had a park trooper almost give me a ticket! Luckily he was a nice guy!)
Easy walk
Hiked up in the month of August about 100°F so the flowers weren't on bloom yet the paved road hike was moderate in challenge level uphill most of the way until you reach the covered picnic table. The only facilities with water fountain is at the entrance so bring water. Was told when flowers in bloom this is an amazing view.
I go here very often and if your running these trails, they're no joke. They're tough and will get your heart rate rising. I usually start at easy street and make my way to telegraph. Once there I head east, to what I call the cross roads. There and back is about 6 miles. At the crossroads telegraph splits off to about 4 different smaller trails. The first 2 trails closest to the sign are the ones that I usually take. They both finish at the same spot, one is a lot harder than the other which is the first left one starting at the sign. That's around 9 miles. If you were to go to the right of the sign, it would be around 8 miles. Both of those trails I mentioned drop you back off at the beginning of easy street/trail head. I do have to say that easy street is pretty over-grown other than that it's a really fun trail to go run/walk. Would reccomend!
We went mountain biking here. The scenery is beautiful with the lush green landscape and rolling hills.
Nothing technical on the trails but a lot of trails you can string together to achieve 20+ miles and 3k feet of elevation.
Highly recommend the trails here to work on endurance.
Had a wonderful time! Really nice hike! Good views!!
Rain or drought, there is always beauty to be found here. While not boasting any technical challenges, if you choose to take a mountain bike, you'll have no trouble finding scenic routes. Just be mindful that after the rains, while you'll be treated by some amazing greenery, you'll also miss out on some of the more rewarding trails due to overgrowth.
Very beautiful scenery, with good amenities
Lost of fun riding here. I loved it.
Very hot. No shade. Recommend in cool weather
If you want quiet this is the place. Clean bathrooms and shower facilities. You can use your generators during the day though.
The mountaing is great to hike or cycle. I Ascended by Pipeline trail toward Sierra peak and descended via Coal Canyon trail. They are fantastic trails to excercise in a safe environment, because you will not see many people. I gave 4 stars because you will not feel 100% connected with the nature due to big electrical towers, the huge antennas, the roads made by a bulldozer and the uncomfortable noise from the 91 at the beginning of the trail. But other thant that, this route (Pipeline and Coal Canyon -going clockwise or counterclokwise-) will give you a challenging workout.
Amazing park with many trails, some quite steep and very lush walkways full of scrub brush and flowers. The park has many panoramic views of the Chino and Chino Hills areas. Take water and pair up as it is easy to get lost here. Also bring a camera and binoculars as there is much to see. Park at the base of the park as there is limited parking in the park.
Since it's the start of Spring (april), there are huge swarms of insects on the last third of the paved road. The insects are about 1 cm across but they are really hard to spot if you're going fast. They come out at dusk and stay well into early-mid morning until the sun is fully out. If you are a road cyclist and run into one of these clouds, the insects will cling to your body and your face and your hair. They might even get a couple up your shorts if you're unlucky. There was one still on me when I got home. Try to avoid cycling early morning and late afternoon if you dont want bugs everywhere. I'm only writing this review because of gross it all was. Other than that, this place is great for biking
A fun place to hike, run, walk or mountain bike. 90+ miles of trails so you can make it whatever distance you wish. Difficulty ranges from very easy to quite difficult. Lots of wildlife so keep your eyes open. Dogs allowed on all roads, Horse Camp, campground and along Bane Canyon trail that parralells the paved road.
This park is beautiful, it has so many places you can go. This park reaches all the way down into Yorba Linda which gives you an idea of how big it is! I recommend going here with your family and friends as it is a nice place to look down at an amazing view and a spectacular place to explore. I see many people most of the time riding their bikes, walking, and flying remote controlled airplanes. There is so much to do there!
So many trails. Lot of flowers and birds. Little shades.
The park really changed. I used to mountain bike on the single tracks, but they were completely covered with large weeds that made it impossible to get through without scratching yourself (and getting super itchy skin after a day or two). There is a solid road that goes through the park. I haven't explored the rest of the mountain bike trails, but the old single tracks on the hills are now gone.
Good service for there rental party building
Quiet, peaceful and good trails.
Great place for hiking and biking.
They should rename this place mountain bike land. But you can't because you can hike, camp and ride horses. It's a little dry now but it's still awesome
Beautiful and quiet with fairly easy hiking paths. Clean restrooms and showers at the campgrounds too. No cellular reception, so great place to get away and unplug for a few hours or even over night!
Beautiful park with a nice scenic, paved drive. I didnt get to do any hiking but it was nice to drive through and see the views. I will definitely visit again and hike when I'm in the area.
One of my favorite local State Parks! Great for hiking, mountainbiking, and camping now that the campground is open. So many great trails to explore and help you get away from the concrete jungle. When it's green, it is absolutely awesome. Telegraph is a great beginner trail to mountainside. Bovinian Delight is my favorite hiking trail in the park. You will regularly see coyotes, mule deer, and all sorts of birds.
Awesome trails to hike! Parking cost $5, but is totally worth it to maintain the trails, park benches, and roads. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. Trails can be unexpectedly long.
Great for hiking but have little to no trees around. May not be a good hiking location in the middle of the summer because there's no shade but in the winter is great.
Woke up this morning, beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful and recently updated, lots of people park outside and hike in but it's worth the 5$ to drive in and park. The trails you have access to are far better, and there are well maintained restrooms available.
My husband hikes this park weekly and really loves how the trails challenge him. If he wants to really be one with nature, he goes off the main road. If he just wants a nice walk he stays on the road. People are friendly and are always saying hi to each other and telling each other how far they walked. They do have camping sites in a not so big area so if you just want to get away and don't want a lot of people, this is the place. The only downfall is people need to remember to pack out what you pack in. Please remember to pick up your trash, i.e. cigarette butts, empty beer bottles, soda cans and candy wrappers. This is everyone's park to enjoy with beautiful views of the valley.
I came here when the poppies were blooming and it was beautiful. The nearby mountains we snow covered too! Made for some beautiful photos. That being said, STAY ON THE TRAIL!!!! The amount of people clomping on flowers to get a photo was ridiculous. There were a few signs that that mentioned so many people trampled the wildflowers last time that they had to be reseeded by volunteers.
Resident snakes tarantulas beetles made my 10 m bike trek a blast!
Breath taking views especially in Spring, extremely hard to find parking, great trails make sure you take the right shoes...can be dangerous on the way down.
The trails were closed because of the rain yesterday but it’s still beautiful
It is a rustic campground. There are only 20 campsites. There are flush toilets and showers. There is limited shade during the day. There are many trails for biking and hiking. Dogs are not allowed on the trails.
Here’s your ALL NATURAL ANTI DEPRESSANT. Want to forget about traffic , the city , sounds of construction , emergency sirens , funky smells coming from your neighbors place? Come and enjoy earth as it looked before people showed up . You won’t see any freeway , city street , electric pole or anything manmade for that matter (except for the paved road that leads you into the park and the few picnic tables and couple restrooms . You will appreciate the beauty and the peace found here . Truly beautiful . Wish more people were aware of it and at the same time I kinda wanted to keep this hidden gem all to myself .
Great place to run, carful it can get HOT
Five stars just for preserving a wild space! A nice little Campground and lots of coyotes plus, some of the few remaining California Black walnut groves. The feel of remote hiking while right in the city.
this is a wonderful place to hike, lots of trails and great views! San Juan Hill is a must for every one. due to the lack of shade this park is hot in the summer. but if u start early enough u will only catch the sun on the way back.
Nice park. Make sure you pay at the self serve kiosk. Park rangers drive around and check to see if you paid.
Hike was pretty awesome and fairly easy. Not challenging. Scenic views. Many route options as far as trails to choose from. Blooming flower season is the reason I particularly chose this hike this day.
Every mile in the park was amazing!! (Spring 2017)
North side entrance is popularly traversed but offers a great entry point to the numerous interconnected paths. A real Cali experience with rolling hills and golden poppy's.
Nice uphill trails.
Well it was dark the view of the Chino valley was beautiful as well the lightening storm. It's an area pawpaz and I will sniff out in the day.
Beautiful place. $30 to camp. $10 to drive in. Walk in free but the hill to walk in is killer.
Had a very knowledgeable tour guide who gave us a detailed history of all of the planes. Definitely improves the experience with a tour guide.
From 1957 to 1960, I worked at the Aerojet General Ordnance Test Facility next door, long before the State Park was created. The landscape was exactly like I remembered, green hills, lots of wildflowers, rolling hills. Is you haven't been it, try it. You will like it. Nature at her best!
New paved road makes it easy to drive up into the park. Lots of recent improvements, and miles of hiking, cycling and horseback riding trails. A well kept secret tucked into the hills west of the city of Chino, CA.
Great place to ride a bike with many dirt trails which go for miles, two of which also happen to connect with the OC. Wether you are riding a road bike on Bane Canyon Rd, or a mountain bike on the miles of dirt trails, this is hand down one of the best places to ride in Chino Hills
A quick photo by the hills with wild flowers
Great for a walk or hike,, nice, clean, quite, & mountain bike, but no dogs on any trail😎 …
Hot. Pretty much the only thing you need to know. Bring water. There are no teail.signs so don't get lost. Watch out for dangerous unethical people riding bikes where they aren't supposed to. People drinking on trails and no rangers anywhere. Be careful.
Nice trails, Its even more beautiful now with all the rains we have been having. It is very peaceful. Can't wait to go back.
The rattlesnakes are out in large numbers. They're everywhere, even out on the streets and on the sidewalks outside the park. Be vigilant. Especially on overgrown single track trails. It takes several weeks to recover from a rattlesnake bite and to be able to walk normally again.
If you're trying to go to a place to be in your own thoughts or hike or just be out in nature this is the place to be it is so beautiful right now especially after all the rain that has happened and you can hike walk around take your dog put your kid in a stroller enjoy Mother Nature Good Day people
Chilling in the Suburban subdivision on a small Side Road Chino Hills State Park sits. It's a long narrow road up, and for people that aren't used to drive and Country Roads, might find it challenging.
I went in the spring on the early Friday afternoon, many locals use the hill as an endurance test, but more than one looked at the back of my empty pickup truck bed as I passed.
March 24th, 2017 and wildflowers are breaking off! I had my elderly dad with me so much hiking didn't happen but the trails look very inviting and challenging. Many people were enjoying them.
If you're in the area you could do worse for a Hidden Gem of a State Park.
The views and the trails are so great. Whether it be for a date or just going with friends, I would recommend coming here to relieve stress and have a nice walk.
Absolutely great place to go to get away from all the noise of every day life. The trails get better deeper inside the park. There’s also great views of the entire IE. 👍 …
beautiful, parking is limited, no signal, no shade. $5 entrance fee for each vehicle. A lot people parked by the streets and walked in.
It is beautiful in here, we only got to hike 11 miles though, but make sure you wear long sleeve and pants, because people were saying they got ticks walking through grassy area (April 2018)
Nice well maintained moderate hike close to Anaheim. Perfect if you do not want to drive far from the city. 15 minutes away next fwy 91 East right before Corona.
Lots a trails for hiking, biking and exploring. Last visit many of the trails are almost overgrown and hard to get through. Have been camping a few times and have a ton of fun.
Best trial for a gloomy day in the spring
Excellent walk.. enjoyed the sound of the water flowing.Down side homeless under the overpass.trash strug all the leading there.also 2 little kids around 10 or so playing in water drainage coming off road way aloug freeway.. very dangerous plus leaving a nice electric scooter sitting out while I guess they were inside the drainage pipe.i let a gentleman know what I seen.he was raking his yard.i had to say something.... do not walk on dirt road way at night
Great place to ride,hike.
Love the trails, spring is here.
Had no idea where I was going but glad I kept driving
Chino Hills SP is a chance to see what this place looked like before houses, cars, freeways, etc. Beautiful in the morning and late afternoon; bring your camera. Can get hot in summer, always bring water and a snakebite kit.
There are no dogs allowed on the trails, (they're coyote bait), but locals have taken to ignoring this regulation, careful of the dog poop!
Gorgeous
Beautiful at the top
Bring water
Get ready & be prepared to possibly get lost
Great trails for riding. Trail will take you where ever you want to go. You will need the MTB app so you do not get lost.
Parking lot is right off of Carbon Canyon Roadbefore the turn left. Cost is $5.00 and secures a safe gravel-parking place for mountain bikers, hikers or joggers on this mostly unpaved trail. This trail is also accessible to lake parking (by lake or tennis courts) facilities.
Visitor center offers great FREE trail maps for all levels of hikers: newbie to senior hiker. Restrooms (clean) are at the visitor center and the rangers are happy to answer any questions you may have. Carry in water unless dehydration and headaches appeal to you LOL.
As we were finishing up today, coyotes made music for a melodic send off. Numerous challenges and records for the competitive exist on mapmyride or strava applications. Telegraph canyon to San Juan hill is scenic, sunny and mile heavy. Challenging and views to ocean. Soquel is stunning!
Great views in early morning hike
Good spot, always something to see.
Amazing Hills with endless perspective, numerous trails, beautiful flowers, trees. Long trails should be recommended for experienced hikers. I saw a lot of horse riders.
It's very rare to see Poppy flower and other flowers blooming everywhere on the hill. The flowers bloom when there is rain continuously for a week then having warm and sunny weather after that then the flowers will bloom; has happened twice in the last 7 years
Beautiful, rolling mountains. When you are hiking, it it so quiet and peaceful that you forget that civilization is near. A great place to get away but also very accessible.
Very beautiful place , nice trails gotta watch for bike riders tho but there considerate , many many trails only my second time . Highly recommended!!
So beautiful, and so close. A lot of great hiking and biking trails. Small campground with great views.
Really liked the hike out here. Plenty of verticality with lookout all the way to downtown LA. Maybe not the best time of yeah due to everything being dead post summer, but there is a certain beauty to grey stalks.
Good hike bring lots of water tho !
Good place for hiking, clean bathrooms, and you don't need to pay if you park on street. Bring water and head cover if you are going to hike during the day.
You should definitely come during springtime.
This park is a lot more pretty after rainfall and everything is green. However with California's drought, it is pretty dry and lifeless. Decent hiking trails though.
Great park. Went bike riding there this weekend and the first hill is a killer. Please take water and sun screen. You will need it.
Great place to ride. Lots of variety from easy to more challenging. Not too crowded even on a Sunday.
Nice paved road that splits off to various trails throughout. Very overgrown due to the rain but overall, a beautiful and scenic hike 🚶 …
CHSP is fabulous! Never super crowded, the staff are always helpful!
This was a nice open space that my wife and I decided to check out. It was a little disappointing. The landscape was predominately grassy hills with few trees or landmarks. However, it was a nice getaway in the middle of the city.
Free parking, great trails, beautiful landscapes, dog friendly, various skill levels, camping sites, driving access... everything you want in a perfect weekend hike!
Such a beautiful place
Too many people walking all over the place when getting there. Makes it really hard not to run someone over. The views are amazing tho
Great place for a great hike!
Dogs are permitted with a leash no longer than 6ft. Watch out for wildlife on the road!
Decent place for a hike. If you live local and don't want to travel too far to go on a hike, this would be a decent spot. Lots of different trails to take you different ways.
Beautiful views, vast trails, great for family walks or romantic picnics. Get out & explore it all.
A wonderful piece of nature perfectly placed to break apart the megacity of LA, Anaheim, Riverside, and SB. Lots of native plants if you're interested in California's natural ecology and botany. We parked in the neighborhood of Chino hills, walked to the entrance in 5 minutes and saved on parking feea
Beautiful park, lots of trails with good signage. Admission is just $5 to provide inside the park.
No power hookups but nice and quiet. Very small camping area so not too many people. Super nice park rangers too.
Best place for hiking .
MTB here about three times a week. Local favorite spot. Currently most single track is grown in real bad but the main trails are clear.
Easy local hiking. Lots of wildflowers. Quiet and few people during the week. Basically local, not the best if you are willing to drive a bit farther.
Very little shade, so not great for a summer walk. Easy path. Very easy walking, with a very gradual incline. No bathrooms; least not as I walked Northeast.
Nice hiking trail
Great trails with a beautiful views no matter where you take it. Clean of any trash and friendly people. Lots of signs to direct which trail you're on.
Awesome park, inside the Los Angeles area. Worth the visit!
Really cool
Good Mountain Bike Trails over wide open rolling hills. Nothing overly technical.
Not very many people out here early on a Saturday.
It's a beautiful place to go for a hike. The variety of wild flowers is limited.
Love it!
Nice roads and beautiful fields. The other visitors are nice but don't understand the trail rules.
Really nice place to go walk, hiking, riding bikes and mush more this is my first time being there and I really recomen it to go there
Very clean. No shade. Trails are very wide or extremely narrow and severely over grown. A good destination for springtime.
Carbon Canyon has been well taken care of and brought back to life, with the rains this week, everything should be nice and green for Spring Break 😎.
Enjoy the love of Orange County!! …
It is located in South Carolina, for the location it is nice, clean and relaxing park. Has kids area and clean restrooms. The BB&Q place and table make the park a perfect place for families.
Chino Hills park is a great park, they have a lot of festivals for the music festival. Another point is that I has a lot of space and then a basketball court.realy nice everything
Beautiful, good trail - Bane Ridge. Not stroller friendly and little ones would want to be carried.
I'm so glad we went. This was a high light of our trip. National parks have nothing on this park... (Also it's a spring and rainy year which makes it extra fabulous.)
Beautiful scenery. The longest plain hike I've had in a while. Only possible threat would be the cougars or linxs that are posted.
Beautiful in spring time. Good place for hike or bike with kids specially
Cool experience. If you dont want to walk, just drive and look for the poppies just off the road. But get there early, best time during the week.
My family and I love going through the park. Great scenery and wildlife. We always end up taking a ton of pictures.
Lovely place lots of trails beautiful scenery 😍 highly recommend …
Awesome for mountain bike trail riding
Vegetation not yet overgrown. Spring time, saw an adult rattler on side of a single track trail soaking up Ray's!
Open space, nice views, wildlife.
Didn't see too many poppies, they're drowned out by the invasive mustard blooms. Still pretty though.
Long, winding drive to parking areas, but pleasant hikes. Well-maintained bathroom at trailhead. $5 parking
There are some cool turantulas when it gets close ro sunset, be careful not to squish them, drive slowly!
Wide open space to ride, hike or run. Dozens of trails and awesome sights. Animal activity is awesome!
Great place for a hike. Just a heads up, dogs are not allowed although you do see a few every now and then
Go to place for nice quiet hike. Clear, clean, awesome. Flowers are abundant in Spring time.
Love the flowers and greenness of the park, but the trail we took was not as kid friendly as I hoped
If you want to feel spring energy, visit here immediately.
They said if I wanted to hunt a bear I'd have to bring my own. Then they said I couldn't sue them for bear-related injuries suffered on their property. Back to the drawing board, I guess.
Yorba Linda chino hill street nice area the road do not have divider very dangerous can cause accident easily. Need lines and divider on the street; especially for night driving.
Great for mountain biking, running or hiking. Several different trails, so you don't get bored.
This place was not as scenic as i had hoped for. Lots of telephone lines going through the park too. The positive: good place to exercise. Thats it.
Awesome views. Fresh air. Nice trails. Watch out for scorpions, rattle snakes, tarantula and mountain lions.
It's a beautiful park. Big with so many trails.
Great walk, I would suggest going earlier or later in the day when it is cooler as there isn't a whole lot of shade.
Great for hiking, biking and much more
Kind staff and locals inhabit this park with its lovely trails that can be explored by those of nearly all ability levels.
Awesome mountain biking fun. Great climbs and descents and plenty of areas for technical extra credit.
Make sure to explore the vast State park! Don't be intimidated by the steep entry, you can drive in and park for $5

Nice park. Very dry conditions so be careful.
Great place for hiking, but you need to be careful. I saw a wolf last weekend, he stared me for a while, it is really scaring.
Great place to get away from the city. Also a good place to take landscape photos.
Awesome place for a mountain bike ride. Especially in the spring time with all the flowers in bloom.
Enchanting. Emerald green hills contrasted by orange and purple flowers with mountains in the distance are visually blissful.
Very nice place for a hike lots of nice flowers and people
Every buddy must visit this place how lives around this area, around 95 miles trails
Great area for a trail run...cool hills and wide truck trails which zig zag around the park..

It hurts to love you
But I still love you
It's just the way I feel
And I'd be lying
If I kept hiding
The fact that I can't deal
And that I've been dying
For something real
But I've been dying for something real
It was a very nice hike and it's a beautiful view.
Amazing like always 💪🙌 …
This is not about Chino hills State park but about this really imprudent and lack of judgment driver that jump into fastrack lanes in an open violation in front of my car that I almost hit.
His plate 7PPD903.
Wonderful Time to go NOW
Very nice views ... calm and quiet .. good for a day hocking and family outdoor... some areas looked need some care ..
Beautiful trail! Warning: there's a slight uphill on the way there, but it's all downhill on the way back.
The facilities are nice and most of the trails are well marked.
The only sounds we heard were birds and crickets. Rolling green hills ❤️
Great local park, trails are great, but you can't fly your quadcopters here.
Great hills, views, and many different trails to have fun on!
Difficult driving to the equestrian facility with horsetrailer.
If you into walking/hiking so cal, you will get your excercise. I don't recommend it in the summer heat without a large reserve of h2o
Great ride with moderate climbing. Start early to avoid the heat!
paved hiking paths, great for the elderly, and kids, and pets. watch out for rattle snakes in the summer-time~
Awesome trails . Alittle over grown but always fun to come back
Rolling hills are pretty to look at. Nothing special compared to most national parks.
Very nice
Great running, biking and hiking trails. Lots of hills. Feel like in a remote area out in the interior

Beautiful CA state park in spring season with bloom flower.
But no fires 😖😫😫 but it's for wildlife rehabilitation so it's ok but to me looks like the need a good weedeater …
So good...... Views. Clean. Nice ppl. Feels safe and worth the drive and walk.
$5 entry, clean and open areas, not overcrowded. Watch for rattlesnakes though, tis the season.
This is an awesome place to hike but bring a hat and sunblock because the shad is minimal
Great hiking trails! Definitely bring your own water.
Awesome experience. I suggest going in the morning.
Beautiful place but I’m not the greatest fan of running through the park.
Cash only, but worth the $5. Lots of wildlife so maybe not the best place to hike by oneslf.
This place is a must to visit, if the area. Beautiful Hills.
Quickly becoming a nature sanctuary in an otherwise mass of pavement and congestion. Wonderful in the springtime
Loved it!
Great as always the upper trails unfortunately are a bit overgrown for biking
Beautiful place, if you enjoy walking.
Nice park. Lots of space and great trails.
Absolutely like bringing the kiddos here. It's a great easy hike
Good state park lots of trail and during the rain very green grass
Make sure you go in the spring not the summer like i did when everything is dried up and dead lol . Will have to revisit to see the true beauty
Loved the open grassland, but I need to build up my hiking ability. I will return.
Awesome views with the options of walking up, biking or driving up the paved roadway.
I LOVE riding in this park, but they close it way too often.
Very nice
Great place!
Nice place for a quiet hiking, bike riding or horseback riding. Restroom available
Pretty neat little hike. Not too hot and not very populated.

Great hike, but a lot of the area was damaged by the recent fires
The best season is Feb to March. So many wild flowers everywhere!😃 …
Very scenic at this time of year. Few manicured grass areas.

Good rest place!drive way!5$ for parking! Like it.
I do alot of my running here. Many trails to wander and get away from the noise of suburbia.
Costs five dollars and highly policed at exactly closing. $100 ticket for not being on the street by closing.
This place is hard to beat in winter and spring . The hills get nice and green!
Beautiful day for a hike in Chino State park. You could see the ocean.
Beautiful park, not a lot of shades.
