I had a blast time with my friend going bowling here! It's my first time going bowling since October 2018; I still have some of experience in myself (including bowling tricks) it's so fun to get yourself back into track to go join bowling league (I might be doing that in my state [California]). This place is definitely recommended for people who wanted to have fun going bowling and drinking beer (more seriously if you are bowling league!) 🎳❤️

Lost track of time there. So fun and so much variety. Felt like a kid again. There's something there for everyone. Many family's and couples of all ages. The Staff are very pleasant & helpful. The new renovations are great, however the price to rent a lane for one hour is a little high. The food however is horrendous especially for the price they charge. $20 for what taste like a cheap frozen pizza. I can get a large cheese pizza from an actual pizza place for cheaper. I strongly recommend not ordering any food from here, I guess this is the one thing they decided to cheap out on during the renovation process

Great updates to an already fun place! Bowling seating is comfier and more adult friendly, game room is bigger and better. Laser tag is as fun as always. Have been there for two very different parties and am impressed by the food options and attention to detail by the staff.

Fun for every age, & it is a great place to go when the temperatures outside are below zero. I am only giving 4 star's because food and drinks are spendy and not always the best quality. If the costs didn't add up so quickly we would probably go more often.

Fun, affordable, clean, accessible. Have been bowling a few times and have had a great time. The arcade is also a fun time. They have an accessible ramp to the bowling floor as well as ramps and bumpers to make the game playable for everyone. It's surprisingly clean for a bowling alley, and though the food is your typical cheap stuff like mozz sticks, wings, giant pretzels, they also have drinks which are decently made and affordable. It's a good place for an affordable good time.

No cash accepted. The ONLY place that cash is accepted is at the front desk where you buy a card to play games. When you buy that card you are being charged $3.00. If you buy a card for $20.00 you only get $17.00 worth of games to play

Went there on a college trip! It was tons of fun! Really enjoyed the glowing lights they turned on once it got dark too! Pizza was pretty good (for a bowling alley), and all the people who worked there were super helpful and kind! All and all really great place!

The place looks amazing I like the new setup, very comfortable you can order food from your lane and its brought to you. You rent the lane by the person or a time limit a little pricey but if you know what you want you can bang out a few good games

This place is awesome - partly because it seems like it’s likely been left unchanged from as long ago as the early 1990s. The bowling is fun and the laser tag is even better. Really clean. Staff is friendly. Lanes are well maintained. The restaurant is way over priced and feels understaffed. We have yet to have a really outstanding experience there BUT the servers from Super Bowl Sunday walking the lanes and serving were outstanding! We go back here more than why other local indoor activity even though it's a 30+ minute trip one way. My family and I really enjoy Spare Time!

Stars based on Arcade only and laser tag have bowled here before gonna have too again before I change anything.Had a good time here went to spend time with my nephew on his birthday. played in the game room . Laser tag is limted to your party only, the arcade was pretty full and didn't make much sense to me since there's more distance from each other in there than there in the arcade. Everyone had masks on but didn't seem to see people wiping stuff down as often as one would think they would be. The games are basically all over priced except skee-ball. Nothing for my toddler to do but she had fun. Friendly staff I think they where smiling. So from an adults veiw over priced and weird rules. But from the happiness the kids got and memories made with them and smiles in everyone's eyes. it is a good escape from home life over all.

Great destination place! Bowling, arcade, and laser tag...you can really spend a full evening there. Prices are good and the staff are great. And I hear they're adding onto the arcade and adding escape rooms as well...super pumped! Love this place.

Definitely the best bowling alley in Vermont. They keep the planes in good condition and there are plenty of balls to use. They also have a game room, laser tag and restaurant attached. Great place for all ages.

We had the whole place to our selves . They are renovating the bowling alley but the restaurant area was still open. So no waiting! And the food was hot and plenty of parking spots.

Wish the arcade room ran on good old fashioned quarters, but it is what it is. Clean place, attentive staff and no games were "out of order" as one can usually expect. Lanes are well maintained, and even when it's busy, the wait times aren't long.

It was a fairly good experience. Lanes seem to be semi maintained as far as oil and such. I am however a little upset about the pro shop no longer being at the location. No place local to get a ball filled and re-drilled as well as buying other equipment I use to be able to get there. Upsetting that I will have to go to New York just to get all that done.

Great place for spending some fun time. They have Bowling, Laser Tag and Arcade games. If you go after 8 pm on a weekday, you can save $$ by buying a $10 per person unlimited Bowling from 8 pm to 11 pm. Also, they have half off on Tuesday evenings on Arcade games and laser tag. So go ahead and enjoy.

We had fun but need to buy our own bowling shoes because they charge a lot for shoe rentals. They have a summer program where kids bowl 2 games a day free but they then charge $4.50 for shoe rentals. So if one adult and one kid end up playing 2 games and rent shoes it is near $30. Could not afford to go everyday at that price and then if you order food too! We got a pizza that was okay not the greatest, 2 sodas and the whole venture was over $50 for a couple hours of bowling. Cha Ching! That was with my son bowling free. I figure if we buy bowling shoes we make this more accessible. The place is fun, they could turn up the music. Clean and caring staff. Worth a visit but not inexpensive that you could go back very often. If you have more than one kid and two adults, this adds up quick. The place is crowded though so maybe people do not mind. We are working class so we look to do things that are on the inexpensive side.

Spare time is a very Fun bowling alley and it has a full restaurant and bar as well. They Even has an arcade and laser tag. Look at the schedule, give them a call, or check their website because a lot of the times they have League nights and it is hard to get a lane. Great for kids parties too. Would definitely recommend for something fun to do in the area.... my kiddo loves going here!

Great place, was very fun and they were all very polite. They even gave lots of free money for the arcade and a free game of bowling. However without the free money for the arcade it would have been very expensive to play the games. Something I have seen at similar places was they offered on certain days a set price for a card with unlimited plays for so many hours. Would be great if you had that option as playing the arcade games with my kids would cost hundreds of dollars otherwise.

The cashier was rude and rushed us when we were paying. We were set up on a bowling lane and noticed the lane was very dry so we asked to move over a lane and we were told we couldn't move over and they had oiled the lanes that morning. We are experienced bowlers and we know the lanes weren't oiled that day. Then we ordered food that was very expensive, tacos were dry and flavorless, my mixed drink had very little alcohol. The arcade is very fun and we enjoyed that.

Definitely want to say spare time is a blast. One thing I'd like to see is more coupons for bowling and food. I personally would like to see Sundays after church the same deal they have on Tuesday. The other thing I enjoyed was how the staff was very pleasant and all the employees working together.

Super helpful and friendly staff at the bowling alley end of the operation, great time bowling with good pricing on a Sunday. The restaurant was not a good experience, the waitress brought softdrinks and forgot the beer that had been ordered. We then were waiting for 50 minutes for our food, while watching people who came in after us order and get their food. There was less than 50% of the tables occupied in the restaurant portion of the complex. We had to ask the waitress where our food was, she said there was a delay in the kitchen. She then said the kitchen would have it out in 5 minutes, that came and went so we were really hungry so we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. Would not eat there again... My friends and I always have a blast whenever we go to Spare time. The arcade selection is top notch with racing and shooter games. Staff is excellent too, Steve is the best all around bartender you can possibly have, friendly and is knowledgeable of many mixed drinks, cocktails and IPAS. Family fun oriented entertainment.

Good bowling experience but steer clear of the slushies! My partner and I both got sick after taking a couple of sips!! The bar tender wasn't too friendly. We asked for a blueberry slushie but instead he brought an overfilled cherry and sternly said he's out of blue. The rest of the staff were pretty friendly though. We'll come back for the bowling but probably pass on the beverages and food in the future.

Well operated. Very clean. Went Sunday when they charge per hour. Bowled 3 games each for 2 of us. I'm interested in league bowling, just moved to Essex Junction. I've started with a Monday 1245pm league called the Essex Seniors. There are still spots open. Everyone wearing masks. Come join us. Update 12/12/20 Attention league bowlers! Although league bowling is suspended right now, there is a special rate running for you. 50¢ a game, minimum 20 on a card, good till September 2021. I'm here today, working on my game. I bought 40 games that can be used any day, any time. Come on down. We hope the Governor reinstates group gatherings that includes League, maybe this Monday?

Granddaughter had her B-Day party here. Places are limited for birthday parties for kids. This was great as the kids said. Bowling, laser tag were included for an additional cost. Grace our 'attendant' was amazing and knew before we did what we were going to need.

Had fun bowling but your employees are rude, here for the spare time after dark sat 12/28- sun 12/29. They refused to serve slices and we were told they aren't serving them tonight with out an explanation. You should choose better of who you hire. Your employees actions reflect on the bussiness. Prices are overly expensive. If your gonna charge so much your employees should be nicer.

So we scheduled a birthday party online and called ahead (thankfully) to let them know we were running late... apparently the online system didn’t realize they closed at 8pm so it allowed us to schedule a party from 6:30 to 8:30... management had no clue they had a party scheduled... the manager Jason Silvia was amazing and super accommodating to our needs. He made sure they stayed open to let our children experience all the games and bowling they could muster!! Can’t thank you enough and especially the Manager James!

Spare Time is a truly great establishment. It is a one stop shop for you and your family. Tons of food and activities. Good bar. Great bowling and great people. I have bowled for years and have been in many leagues. This is definitely one of the best centers in our area. By the way if you need a bowling ball or just need one drilled they have a great pro shop. I had Jason drill a ball for me and it is awesome. The best fit I ever had for a bowling ball. It not only fits right but it works like I want it to. Absolutely no complaints. I highly recommend Spare Time!

Great place for a date night or a family day. They have bowling, laser tag and a mini arcade with great games. The laser tag has a phenomenal price and experience! Great time bowling at this place. They also had a nice game room for the kids to play in and get small prizes from the tickets they accumulated. My only issue was the shoe rentals seemed to be quite high at over $5.00 a pair. It was about the same price as a game of bowling.

I took high school level cadets here for laser tag and games. They loved it. Laser tag setup was very cool. Was a bit pricey. Also only one employee covering the the entire gaming area. We'll definitely go back next year.

Kids love it, and there is plenty to do. Laser tag, games, bowling, and it's great for birthday parties. It all adds up to a pretty expensive outing though. They have plenty of these games that cost 2 to 3 dollars a pop, and it's essentially gambling for kids. Pay 2 bucks, pull a lever, win 20 cents worth of tickets to trade in for junk. Food isn't stellar, but it's a bowling alley.

It's one of the only Laser Tag joints in the area (maybe the only one... not sure), and it's a great way to burn off some energy from the kiddos (while burning dollars). Been here for birthday parties, too, and those always seem to go smoothly, and the kids do love the place. Not a bowler, so don't have much to say other than it seems clean, neat, and well staffed/managed.

I come here frequently. Do NOT try to go on a Friday night. They have leagues that day. I don't know when they start but I waited 2 hours before I could bowl the last time I went on a Friday. It was like 9 pm before I could bowl. It is a classy place and has an arcade that is actually quite large, with a large array of game types available. A bar available with a good selection of beverages. Food is actually good, it surprised me due to the fact that it is a bowling alley. BBQ chicken flat bread, try it. The building is pretty clean. The reasons I give it 4 stars is because of the statement above about the leagues and a couple other things. There is a couple lanes that are not waxed properly. I actually did a face plant while bowling once. It is the only bowling place around so it is always packed. I also think that the equipment may need upgrading. It misses pins more frequently then it should, and we also had a lane that didn't work once. I suppose you could say that they need to update and polish. The cosmetics seem fine.

Bowling rates are a bit steep but we enjoyed the place. We got a package that included 1 round of bowling(shoes not included), 1 laser tag game, and $5 for the arcade. The arcade has quite a few games to choose from as well. Overall a really fun date night for us.

I give this place a 3.5 ARCADE ONLY Pros: Staff is very friendly. Clean inside, i would have liked to see more hand sanitizer stations, Lots of up dated game that seem to be set to skill not pay out. They have a half price day. Cons: Coin pusher is not half price, a lot of games not working or just taking your money and not playing. Coin pusher is set VERY tight. Played today 12/1/2020 for 30 minutes and never got a card drop. If they could fix a few of these issues it would be a 4-4.5 place

Fun time....just a couple issues...was a little too dark ....and folks no longer use bowling etiquette of waiting for your neighbor to finish their round...and food and drinks in the bowling area...can equal a bad spill for bowlers.

Went to Spare Time for my 11 year old sister's birthday and had a blast! It wasn't a full on party, just my girlfriend and 2 sisters. We played two rounds of laser tag (one with a group of 12 and one with just the 4 of us). I definitely recommend a bigger group for laser tag. In between laser tag rounds we hit the arcade and won a bunch of tickets (virtual tickets) and got some great prizes. I spent my childhood at Zachary's Pizza and unfortunately that place has gone downhill. The games at Zach's are outdated and broken--much better value at Spare Time. I was very impressed with two staff members in particular; Alex and Connor were awesome. Very accommodating and friendly. Alex was even dancing around the arcade and playing games with the kids! Connor explained the details of laser tag and got us set up for a couple rounds with ease. I've been to Spare Time at least two dozen times and have never been inclined to write a review. Big props to Connor and Alex. We'll be back for the next birthday!

Had my 23rd birthday here and we had a blast! Great prices on bowling, we did their 3 games amd rental for $10 i think it was, then did a few games of lazertag. Food was good, great bar and staff was really friendly! Even had delivery to your lane from the restraunt which was nice. Ill definitely return with friends.

Great deal for a kids birthday party. We had bowling, $5 worth of video games, pizza, and laser tag. It worked out to be about $25/kid. The birthday boy even walked away with a souvenir bowling pin signed by his friends. A real one! The only negative is our hostess was a little late in getting us started making our time a little rushed. I understand that she was new, so I wouldn't expect this to be a normal thing. I'm sure she'll get things done more efficiently in the future.

Nice, modern, clean facilities. I like the 4-to-a-table arrangement in contrast to the old school banquet seating most older alleys have. And wait staff at your lane is a big plus. I also loved that all the balls were on organized racks in one spot to make finding the right ball quick and easy.

My first impression was how clean it was..The staff was great. The only two negatives for me was confusion about how to order food...and I think the cost of shoe rental is to high. Thus I will buy my own. The laser tag is also expensive. ..to bad because this we would do often. Could it be cheaper if there were not two employee's manning the desk?

Very nice bowling place with great deals. Check out their website to see which days work best for you. They also have a decent arcade and laser tag arena. Haven't tried the food but looks greasy and good for the soul.

Great place for birthday parties for younger children. It could use a deep cleaning and some general updating but as one of the only bowling alley in VT, it does the job. The arcade is great with lots of options for games, but unrealistic when it comes to redeeming tickets for prizes (ie. Stuffed animals are thousands of tickets, games are expensive to play and some don't give tickets). Laser tag is available off of the arcade and runs for about fifteen to twenty minutes.

Spare time is your quintessential bowling alley. Really good prices on certain nights (late night Friday and Saturday and Sunday nights especially). Plus laser tag and a full arcade. The attached restaurant and bar are well priced and have good large beers for good prices.

Rather expensive food for the quality. They have the bowling market rather cornered, and it shows in their efforts. Great food server, exceptional speed and kindness there. "Front desk" rather rude, smugly dismissive and impatient when it came to customer service.

Sanitation during COVID seemed to be a priority. We were placed at least 5 lanes away from everyone else, and all balls were sanitized in between uses. Staff was friendly and the discount rates past 8 pm are great! Especially for a family!

A fun place to play. Many options from bowling to laser tag, and dont forget the arcade. The arcade prizes cost a lot of points, as with any arcade. Decent bar and restaurant with food service to the bowling alley. A great place for a small group or a large group.

Lanes are booked distanced, everyone seems to be following COVID protocols. Only thing that is worrisome is that it seems the arcade games are not wiped down after each person has been on it. Thinking maybe it shouldn't be open if it is too hard to keep up with proper sanitation practices. Food here is always very good, hospitality too!

The lanes were clean the staff was friendly and the bowling rates were absolutely a great time that doesn't break the bank . We love going to Spare Time! Sometimes there is a wait to bowl on the weekends but if there is, the best way to do it is to check in for a lane, then have lunch or play in the game zone while you wait. Same goes for laser tag, you can sign up for a certain time slot ahead of time, and do the other stuff while you wait. So fun

I would take away a star because this place is very noisy and full of screens and flashing lights, but overstimulation is the effect they seem to be going for. Mission accomplished. The only other bowling alley in the area is way more "authentic" - I literally get flashbacks to 40 years ago - and is the place to go if all you want to do is go bowling like you did (or your parents did) in the 70s.

My wife and I joined some of my co workers last night for some bowling. The bowling was good, Im not really happy with their "restaraunt" though. I ordered fries and fried pickles. They gave me 10 sliced pickles for 6 dollars (rip off) and there was literally half a uncut potato in my fries. Service was slow, nothing was prepared very well. Go there to bowl, not to eat.

Not only is it a bowling alley, it also has a restaurant attached, as well as an arcade and lazer tag. If you are a very serious bowler, request the lanes to the right. The lanes to the left are where they put the children's parties, so they are more dinged up. There are also two sets of bathrooms (by the lanes and in the restaurant). They have league nights for the more serious bowlers.
