Such a great destination, just 25 minutes from downtown Boise! Picturesque both the drive and the park itself, gorgeous backdrops paired with a soothing sound of running water. Please make a reservation for their bbq area ( theirs is a big gazebo to guarantee plenty of shade ) for group parties! There’s a fantastic walking and biking path that is smooth and protected with a rail on one side. Bathrooms were clean and the daily fee to use the park was seven dollars. Make sure to bring cash for the service fee. So go, what are you waiting for! You won’t regret it!

Beautiful picnic area & beach! Bathrooms were locked for the season, but there were port-a-potties. We rode bikes down the greenbelt from Julia Davis Park to Lucky Peak. Beautiful, hour ride.

Such a great little spot:) Sandy beach is definitely a nice place to cool off and spend time with family and friends. They have adequate parking and bathroom facilities. They also have a little store to rent paddle boards and snacks.

We stopped at Lucky Peak on our was North for a few minutes. I did use the bathroom facilities and they were clean. The water was low when we were the so the infamous tubes were not on and blowing water. Over all it's a nice clean park to enjoy a picnic. We also didn't explore the other side, I think that's where the magic happens....boats and jet skies.

This lake used to be big enough for Boise and the surrounding area, but it's getting too crowded, unfortunately. Still extremely beautiful scenery and tons of places to hike and explore, but if you're trying to ski on an average day in the summer, you'll have to go WAY out away from the park areas to get a little piece of your own lake.

Awesome place for a picnic, you can reserve large covered tables with grill or use one under one of the many trees. Handicap bathrooms are available. It's a $5 carload self fee.

A pretty park on the edge of Boise. Big viewing feature seems to be a hydroelectric plant with a dam and cormorants in residence. There is also a pond for bathing, restrooms and a trail for bikes and hiking that runs along the river. It's pretty but did not offer the hiking we were looking for. A state park there is a $5 entry fee. The guard hit was not manned that day so it was on the honor system. Bring a pen!

Currently living in Twin Falls. I really enjoyed the sandy beach park for my kiddos 4 little ones! it's a great place for kiddos and of course kayaking I enjoyed it myself as an adult. If you're out of town I would suggest leaving early being there when the park opens to get a good spot with a grill!!! Kiddos didn't want to get out!

Great location to get away and spend time with the family or just to get away. Rent a paddle board or kayak and float around the lake, find a picnic area and have a BBQ. Water attractions for the younger children are great and interactive. Limited amount of life vests available to the public and sand toys for the children to play with while they are there.

Great fun. Water was nice and calm, perfect for paddle boards and kayaks. It was a dog park, so you need to be aware the dog owners think it's ok for them to invade your stuff.

Nice park! Access to a beach and some fishing spots. If you are camping and looking for some showers, the bathrooms inside the army corps fence have open air showers for men and women. Cool place to stop and rest on a roadtrip.

Beauty Beauty Beauty.. that's all there is to know. A quick get a way place to go for the day or for a few days! A quiet piece of time reserved just for you. A must try. Be aware however! Places of such peace and quiet don't last long for the picking. With so many new people moving into this beautiful state of Idaho it's going to be hard to find peaceful places. Go while you still can. 😁

I haven’t been here since I was a kid 25/30 years ago! It’s so fun and a great place to hang out on a hot day with the family. but the bathrooms are disgusting, doors don’t close or lock, one doesn’t even open in the ladies. Trash, toilet paper and female hygiene products EVERYWHERE.. this was almost enough for me to leave! If your going to have a busy day like a weekend you should probably have someone checking the bathrooms..

A guy named Ray at the KOA revealed this secret location when we venture to Boise for the first time ever, and let me say to anyone looking for the perfect spot to go swimming, the perfect spot to let your dog go swimming, or just looking for a place to chill, relax, and what I would truly consider God's country amir half hour out of town. We came to Boise for 3 days and two of them were spent here. It was hot like I have never known hot weather wise but a cool and sometimes warm breeze kept the day manageable. My dog went nuts for the water and admittedly so so did I. It is very very cold water but when you're sitting in a buck three heat cool water is perfect. Lots of people floating on the river, standing on their boards on the river and a lot of people had their pooches with them. We met great people, a group of ladies some local some from Utah and we spent much of our second day in their company. Truly wonderful human beings. This is the spot, believe me. Thank you Ray at the KOA

Great beachy area. Nice big trees for shade with picnic tables throughout. You can bring your own BBQers. The snack shack had yummy snowcones too! Lots of parking, but does get full quick! A few rude people did take up 2 spots cuz I guess there vehicle is super special 🙄. Overall great place to take the family. Like the sign says, no pets allowed.

I was out exploring being new to the House area. I have a 5mo old pup who lives to run... This was the perfect spot to let him have a little exercise. After Oct your dog can be off leash....providing he plays well with others. Very few people so it was great to let him explore

You locals are Lucky to have such a nice place. I was surprised how well that park is maintained. Kudos to the crew that runs it. The sand beach and swimming area was nice. All of the bbq and table areas were clean and well maintained. Very nice park to have a gathering or just chill.

Fun fact. The power generation was an after thought. The dam was completed without a way to generate power.

The parking situation is horrendous. There isn’t a dock or anything to get into the water. Just walk over and climb down the ledges wore into the shore. The experience once we got onto the water was perfect. The water was calm and clean. Bugs were at a minimum except in the shade. I paddled into some shade on the shore and got swarmed my mosquitoes. This will still be one of my usual places for kayaking.

We were at sandy point . So this only applies to that part of the park. Park ranger one of the best. Super friendly. However, geese and waterfowl make the water not really worth going in. U also have to avoid their poop on the grass too. That's a huge task. During spring and summer, Lucky peak won't even let dogs stay in the car and that's sad because the dogs would keep the geese and birds from making this beautiful place a mess. I walked in the shallow water for maybe 3 min til I noticed the goose poop floating around me. Surprised more people haven't reported more sicknesses from the park. Just not enough water movement to keep it clean from the people and birds. The fountain in the middle tried hard though. Going to try the reservoir side next time. Gotta be less people as well on the reservoir side. I'll let u know.

Fun place for families to play in water. You need $7 cash/vehicle. They have paddle board rentals on site. Dog park is the first entrance, so be sure to keep driving to next entrance to get to lake area.

Great spot for kids. Sand is a bit rough, water shoes recommended. Shade is grass areas not much on beach. Bring your sand toys. Life jackets available but limited.

Vast park. Frisbee golf course is adjacent to the main hiking trail. To get to the trail you need to drive over the dam and its the first drive to the right. It took me a bit to find the good trail from the entrance of the park. Very dry hot and hiking trail.

Had a great time visiting with the family. We used the onsite grills and made burgers, took the kids out on a rental kayak, tube, and paddle board. They have a small area with some water attractions. You can drink here as long as it is not in a bottle, no glass is allowed. Definitely looking forward to going back

Wow, this place is as good as I heard folks from Micron told me. It is definitely beautiful. However, I visited Sandy Point which has an E Coli warning. At the gate, the attendant warned people of swimming in it. Still, children and adults were swimming in it. I just took a brisk walk from Sandy Point to Discovery Park. I also saw the boat launching area which does not have a fee gate but a deposit box for boat launching only. The Boise River is just amazing to see as you walk along it. Great for biking, walking, jogging, etc. Plenty of restrooms in both parks and your parking fee of $5 is valid in both parks requiring a fee. There are two dams which are nice to stop and take a look. However, I will be forever in awe of the ridge line with the sky. Within 10-15 minutes from Boise, you cannot beat this sort of nature excursion. Typically, I have to travel an hour to 3 hours from Philadelphia to see decent vistas. No problems here and I was able to catch my 5PM flight back to Philadelphia.

The beaches were nice the water was cold but nice in the hot hot summertime you had some trash floating around the edges at the beach. swimming out to the middle to check out the big water fountain that shoots really high in the air it was really exciting swiming through it why it's raining down on you, worst than any thunderstorm that you can imagine.

Really enjoy this area! We go paddle boarding at the bottom of the dam on the portion that looks like a river. It’s calm, easy to get in and out of and is king enough that it’s not too busy. We take the dogs and have a great time.

Beautiful park. Picnic tables in the shade of mature trees, park is on the river. Beautiful drive past the park to Idaho City. Pass on Diamond Lill's in Idaho City, they don't like outsiders. Turn around and eat at Hilltop Station. They have great food and a really good beer selection.

Lucky Peak state park is a 240 acres recreation area near Lucky Peak Lake. Its elevation is 2750 ft. There is a hydroelectric power company and a reservoir near the park. On the side of the dam, a quote is written as "Keep your forests green". It is only 15 minutes away from Boise. The scenery here is really beautiful. This park is the perfect place for cycling, hiking, fishing, boating, biking or running here. There is shelters, picnic tables, grills and clean restroom on the spot. I used to go there with my friends for picnic. The calm beautiful scenery from the park is just mesmerizing. If you are in Boise, It is a must place to visit.

I visited all 3 public areas. There is one park that is a pay to use the other 2 parks are free. Those being Sandy Point and Foote Park. Foote Park offers no access to water but if you're looking for secluded picnicing it's one of the places you'll want Additionally Foote Park offers history as to why the park is named. I'd say for a day away from home or bringing guests to Idaho for a lie sure excursion , Lucky Peak is where you want to go.

We’ve got the upper shelter at Discovery Park reserved for our wedding this month and it’s going to be perfect! Lots of family are coming from out of state so it’ll be like a reunion also, and there’s plenty of room there. 1/2 mile on the greenbelt to Sandy Point, a nice little trek to go swim & cool off. The Park Staff are a pleasure to work with also!

Lucky Peak is a treasure. Pristine Boise River flows thru. Mountains and valleys....an earthen dam with historic surprises( I won't give it away.....go there!) Fishing...relaxing...observing...appreciating.....a wonderful experience!

We went in the morning getting there at 10am and there was only a couple of people out, not crowded at all! By the time we left at 2pm there were maybe a dozen and a half people but there was plenty of room we didn't feel crowded.

I absolutely love this place if I'm driving by that is, I won't go outta my way to go there but definitely a good quick place to take the pups for a quick walk and good place to do their business, one of my go-to spots very rarely other dogs there Also great place to fly drone's (that is if it's not too windy) truly jaw dropping views and picture opportunities. One thing I'd suggest that they put on-site is trash cans, mostly bc of unappreciative slime balls that like to leave their garbage behind.... they're gonna ruin it for everyone #scum#lowlifes
