This was the first time most of us had been axe throwing, and it was fantastic. Joshua, assistant manager, was an excellent teacher, and every one of us felt confident with an axe in our hands thanks to him. We had recently lost someone very close to us, and we were out as a family trying to do some of the things our loved one would have enjoyed but was unable to in his last few months. Jarrett, manager of this location, took time to pray with our mother and give her comforting words after our session was up. They went above and beyond for our family, and brought a little peace to our mom. If I could give higher than five stars, I would. Check them out. You won’t regret it!

Best date night I could ask for!!! It was so much fun! My instructor, Mark, was really informative and so much fun! He made our date even more fun! You’re going to miss the target a few times, but once you got it, you got it! My boyfriend and I had the best time! We are already talking about making Civil Axe Throwing one of our date nights a month. It was such a blast!

Civil Ace throwing is a really fun place to spend a few hours blowing off steam. Its the absolute best when Tim is there! As someone who doesn’t throw often he made sure I knew how to have a safe and fun time. He even helped me adjust for my skill level. Looking forward to visiting again.

This was a last minute decision on a birthday night out. Civil Axe was able to fit us in and to my surprise the entire family had a blast! Our youngest at 12 to me being the oldest had the best time. It is rare to find a place that everyone has a good time. Only negative is that a can of beer that was brewed just down the street costs $6 a can. That was a bummer but the girls that ran the place were absolutely awesome! They were very accommodating. Overall the trip was a success for everyone in the family.

My company participated in a team building event here, and it worked! We had a fantastic time! The staff assessed skill level and introduced more complex elements when someone showed they had the current one figured out. We had so much fun at our individual levels, and thoroughly enjoyed the competition amongst some of our team. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours, and truly did leave a more connected team!

Emma and Josh were both so helpful. I spoke with Josh over the phone and told him I wanted to surprise my husband for his birthday. He was very helpful with the info he gave, along with any questions I had. Emma was there when we showed up. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about Axe throwing. She showed us how to properly throw, and she even spoke up to help us plant our feet better to help us throw accurately...even narrowed it down to distance. This is the coolest spot for any occasion. It was just my husband and me, but we will return for a group event with our friends. I wouldn't suggest bringing any little ones. This is more for teenagers and adults in my opinion. Great idea for a date night or day. Very clean and super friendly environment. Hard to find the "friendly" spots during these days, so we will be back solely due to these things, along with it being more fun than I could've ever imagined. I love that they don't tolerate disorderly conduct either because they always want their customers to feel safe. We didn't witness anything of the sort when it came to that, but we were informed, and I believe them due to their character traits I could gather with my short 2 hour experience in person, along with my phone experience. 10 out 10 would and will recommend to anyone! Thank you Civil Axe Throwing for giving my husband and I an incredible experience for his birthday!

A lot of fun!! Everyone had a good time, our instructor was really informative and gave a lot of great tips and and advice. They pay a lot of attention to what’s going on and are friendly. I also like the fact that you could bring your own food and drinks.

Sarah was very helpful, made the environment enjoyable, and played some great music! She kept the area clean and was attentive to all the participants throwing. We took my niece and two nephews here (ages 16, 13, 10) for a fun afternoon. We all had a great time! We stayed a solid two hours and it was non-stop throwing the entire time. The kids asked to go back next time they are in town. We also loved how we could bring our own snacks in. It was fun for all ages.

Really fun activity for a date or for just hanging out for the night with friends. Takes a minute to get the hang of throwing the axes but, once you do, the enjoyment of severe trash-talking can begin. Different varieties of "throwing apparatuses" are available to try - small ax, large ax, *really* large ax, cleaver; definitely a unique thing to do in town. Not a very costly option, even for a weekend, and pretty entertaining. The folks that operate the place are extremely nice, patient, and accommodating, and do everything in their power to make sure the experience is fantastic. I've been twice now and am looking forward to the next visit. Conveniently located across the street from Hop City/a block or two away from Pepper Place & Mayawell Bar, definitely check it out when in the area.

We looked up Axe throwing in Birmingham and Civil Axe throwing popped up. We booked our times. Followed the signs and arrived at Civil Axe Birmingham. Once inside we was greeted by Coach Sarah and she got us set up went over the instructions then took us to our throwing lane. Sarah then went over the rules and how to throw. We started out slow but we figured it out and had loads of fun. Sarah came over several times to check on us and showed my wife some trick shots. Very enjoyable experience and a great night for couples. Will be back again. Thanks for the memorable experience.

Visited tonight with a group and had a blast! If you are looking for a safe, clean, friendly place to go have fun then this is the place to visit. You get on the spot lessons on how to throw, tips and advice while throwing and should you have any questions comments or concerns Josh is more than happy to assist you. This is a place where you are not made to feel like you are a bother should you need anything and that's hard to find these days. This was such a fun and unique activity to do for a nice outing with friends. Even seen a few people on dates really enjoying themselves. The staff was also really helpful and thorough when tracking the group pointers in safety and technique. It was also a very comfortable, air conditioned venue albeit it looks a lil sketchy going into the entrance from an alley way 😂 but don’t let that deter you from a great time.

Had a great time here with my BF. We’ve done axe throwing in multiple cities and this Birmingham location was very similar to what we were used to. Friendly staff and good equipment. You must wear close toed shoes in order to throw, and you can easily purchase your tickets online. All you have to do I show up and your selected time and they’ll be ready for you. I would come here again if I find myself back in Birmingham.

They gave clear details and instructions on how to aim and land the axe the best, and then showed some that we interested how to do some trick shots and things that were a little more complicated. They had alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available and were alway super quick to help with anything you ask. I am sure we will be back soon.

This was our first experience at ax throwing and we had a great time!!! The two young men who assisted us were friendly, knew their stuff and very helpful and attentive! We will be back!!! My only suggestion is to allow folks to bring their own beverages…I understand you wanting to have some control on the alcohol consumption. I misunderstood from reading the website and thought outside food and beverages were allowed and brought a small cooler with waters and soft drinks for our party of five. The employees politely told us that outside drinks were not allowed and held the cooler for us. Would loved to have had the option to drink non-alcoholic beverages of our choice rather than the Pepsi and Mountain Dew that was available for purchase. Certainly not a deal-killer, but just my suggestion. Really fun, not crowded, ample parking and overall a fun experience!!

If you want to go, I assure you'll have a fun time and good training. It's also great for storyteller or world builders to get first hand experience with axes.

This is a fun novelty experience that everyone in Birmingham should try at least once. The staff is super helpful and nice. I have gone multiple times with different groups. It makes for a fun date, guys night, group activity, or after-work outing with coworkers. The only reason that I don't give it 5 stars is that I feel that the pricing is on the high side.

We celebrated my wife’s birthday. Everyone had a great time. Our instructor was very polite and knowledgeable. It was very convenient to have a picnic table to set up snacks and drinks we brought with us. There were 8 of us and 1 hour was plenty of time.

First time for date night was a BLAST! Our coach was really helpful and fun. I was nervous at first and horrible lol but during the time I learned my form and felt really comfortable in the setting. I’d definitely recommend this as a fun outing for any time. Will be back for sure!

This was my wife and my first time at civil axe throwing. Spencer greeted us as we came in and showed us techniques on how to throw axes. Now I've backyard lumberjacked before so I had this in the bag and was about to show my wife what axe throwing was about. Well.... as she continued to nail bulleyes with both the single handed and double handed axe. It came to mind that an axe in her hand is not only a melee weapon, but is a range weapon. Guess I won't smart off to her if an axe is nearby. I reccomend this place. It was fun, clean and the employees were helpful. I will come back, maybe by myself to hone my skills.

We were visiting friends in Birmingham when we decided to go axe throwing. Three out of four of us had not done it before. We were able to book our two hour slot and fill out the waivers online very easily. (The options were one or two hour reservations.) We went on a Wednesday and were the first ones there. Joshua was our “coach” who gave us a good rundown of the rules and showed us the proper techniques for throwing. We had a wonderful time! Would love to come back when we’re in town. Our friends have now found a new to activity to do in their area! Win-win!

After checking in they will put you on a station, and give you instructions on what to do and leave you have fun. You are able to bring in your own food and drinks so that makes it even better. We have come here many times, each time the experience is great! We have always had the same coach, and he is extremely kind and helpful. We love how relaxed the atmosphere is while also maintaining high standards in regards to safety. For example, I informed our coach yesterday that some of the lightbulbs on the hanging lights outside were broken leaving hot wires exposed. He immediately went and assessed them and proceeded to fix them while we were there. We highly recommend Civil Axe and will continue coming whenever we can!

Kaylee was great especially when we told her that Debbie was blind! Kaylee helped show Debbie correct form, she even got down and moved her feet to reposition her and showed her a groove in the floor to feel for so she would know where to stand. You are able to preorder adult beverages (domestic beer, craft beer and seltzer drinks…no wine) when you make reservations online. Our seltzer’s were not cold. Also, did not know this, you can bring your own beverages! Would have loved to know this was an option prior. I will be returning for sure (with our personal cooler 😁).

So I’ve never been axe throwing so I googled ace throwing and civil axe throwing in Huntsville showed up. So I made a drive to Huntsville and when I walked in I was met by the employee Micah. Micah explained that his 7:45 was booked, I explained to him that we were 3 hours from the house. So he made room for us and put us in our own room. Later he came back and gave us a free session considering our circumstances. Micah went over how to throw the axe three different ways and was very informative and comical all at the same time. Awesome experience. The trainers are highly experienced (or so it seems😂) and are great teachers. There is a range of different hatchets axes and even tomahawks for customers to choose from. Anyone can be good at it. The only problem I have with the establishment is that I think alcohol should be prohibited for obvious reasons. Overall awesome establishment and wonderful experience for anyone who walks through the doors.

This place is AXE-ually a really CHOP notch location. Had a lot of fun and plenty of advice from the staff. Only thing we’d request is being given fresh wood upon arrival. Paying that much for 2 people to throw hatchets should allow for us to have fresh slabs put up. Other than that- we had a Fant-AXE-STICK time! I would suggest wearing closed-toed-shoes. It was in the email, but we only read that upon arrival.

Finally went to try it out by myself since all my friends seemed skeptical or busy. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. After signing the online waiver (had to pull that up on my phone though), I was personally instructed how to throw the axes. Plenty of cheering and comments to help me improve throughout my half hour experience. After seeing my pictures, I might get friends to join me next time. A fun activity alone or as a group.

It’s axe throwing. I haven’t been to another so I don’t have any point of comparison, but I can tell you the things I liked about their process: 1. Their waver is super simple. You go to their website on your phone and esign. SO EASY 2. Their instructors are very helpful. One of the guys in my group could not get the axe to stick for the life of him. The instructor worked with him to show him what he could improve 3. It wasn’t too expensive when you have a good group of people all splitting the bill.
