Reviews of Maryland Juniors Sports Center
This place is for the most part split between basketball & volleyball, there is also weight training, meeting rooms, concession stand, and plenty of room to spread out. It's modern, up to date, and kids from elementary to high school play.
expecting such a run down facility. And not to mention there is no ac just stupid fans! I felt lightheaded there! They should at least give free water bottles. This is almost a health hazard. People with asthma would definitely feel a certain way here. And The heat inside, is. Unbearable even at night, is. hot outside you are going to no doubt break a sweat just watching games, it’s unbearable even with fans. They need to work on AC especially since kids or people are playing volleyball or basketball And Challenge can be the distractions of balls all over the place if people are not controlling their areas.
Coming for a tournament? Parking is a nightmare, it’s crowded, the restroom lines are generally well out the door (if you are female which is likely most of the population of volleyball players) , and seating is limited. This is not my favorite place for tournaments.
Nice Warehouse and very Spacious Parking Lot. Right of the main road not hard to miss. Building is covered in bricks and says Maryland Junior Sports on the front. It houses X-Chair and also Movers USA.
nice complex weird for basketball bc of the floor but good for like volleyball
Not the best complex we’ve been to. Very very hot inside, plastic courts, no good food options, and gross bathrooms.
This place has a bunch of bad reviews, but my experience was good. Spent the whole day there for a volleyball tournament and it was kept clean and the food at the concession stand was also good. My only complaint would be that it was cold. That said my daughter who played said the temp was good when you where playing.
A great place for young people to participate in sports. Affordable and clean. During the pandemic one of the few places my son could go and get a good volleyball practice and coacing
Absolutely beautiful I enjoyed this stay there and is very nice outlet for adults kids and the one that just want to stand around and enjoy others.
Very organized establishment! Could be a little cooler during the summer months because sweaty kids smell (lol).
Nice facility. Large with snack bar
Attended a basketball tournament. Overall good experience. Highly advised to bring your own folding chair if you are a spectator and depending on the time of year, it can get warm inside.
This is a good place for basketball tournaments and volleyball. They have a awesome Chinese food restaurant inside of the sportsplex.
Great space & learning environment for the kids! Volleyball, Basketball & Table Tennis...
Staff was very friendly and had the answers to all of my questions.
$5 for open court, doesn't get crowded till about 6pm. Plenty of courts.
Alot of space for sports (basketball 8 -12 courts @ Middle School size i think), ok for being clean.
Parking is horrible- good luck!!!
Great place.. Very limited parking for its size...
Just a big warehouse. Got cold. Volleyball nets need to be replaced.
The place is great but playing during the summer is brutal!
Large warehouse now used for volleyball and basketball. Parking could be better.
I play here after the Volleyball House closed, nice facility. Great to be back playing again.
Parking is a nightmare always, but facility is relatively clean and organized
Huge facility, no AC and gets crowded
It can get very hot inside, bring water. Lots of different sports to play inside as well.
Nice facility for some sports, just need some air conditioning and a concession stand
They need to work on AC especially since kids are playing basketball and it can get really packed.
B.Y.O.F. The f stands for fan. Cooking in the gym but very nice facility
Great facility. Would easily be 5 stars if it had better parking and larger and/or more bathrooms.
Decent place. Really busy most weekends. Hard to find parking spaces and indoor seating.
Nice place for your kids
Great place to workout and train as far as basketball and volleyball
Great place for amateur sports. Big volleyball, basketball mega plex.
Excellent courts and supplemental equipment for recreation. Friendly staff and welcoming environment. On the negative side the temperature is not effectively regulated in the summer months. The complex can reach high temperatures in the summer months, but the remaining mo ths of the year and very nice and enjoyable for long play times.
It's a great place for sports events like basketball.
Great place to play volleyball. Courts and equipment are in good shape. Bathrooms need to be remodeled. Can get very hot in the facility.
Too crowded during tournaments. So difficult to find seating when all the courts are in use. The bathrooms get messy pretty quickly and the back covers of many toilet tanks are missing. The parking is horrible when the place is packed.
I have been to this place for the volleyball many times in the past 3-4 years, and will be there two more times this month. The facility itself is not new but decent. It is one of the few large facilities in the area. The space can be better managed and the bathrooms definitely can be cleaned more often during the tournament. The food (Chinese) is decent.
Bball spot, not good flooring and place is drafty
Wonderful arena. But considering the income it is getting a bit long in the tooth. I was there for a tournament and there was trash piled up near the bathrooms and the bathroom had no paper towels. Plus it looked dirty because of the old fixtures.
My opinion is that I love it for the actual sport center and that’s what it’s used for and not every place has 20 stalls in a sports center so no duh it’s gonna be crowded during volleyball tournaments and it’s not their fault and based on the mess their is during the tournament that’s also not their fault that’s the people’s fault that decided don’t to throw it away and leave it spilled and i’m just saying this cause people are blaming the people that work there and it’s not their fault but overall with the courts i love and i love how they have a food bar which is nice for people
Open space for basketball and volleyball tournaments. A regular stop on the traveling team circuit, this place has flooring and nets for up to ten matches/games at a time. The support services are functional: an in house Cafe, and toilets. Veterans come with coolers packed with drinks and goodies. The Korean place next door reputedly has better food. Dress in layers. Even in January, it was comfortable with so many people in a closed space, but as doors open and people leave, it got chilly... and I put on my coat. I see complaints about the heat, and layers might help in the summer.
Do NOT park in the Iron Mountain lot across the street or they will tie you very far away.
This isn't the St. James. It's converted warehouse with space for athletes to play sports. Expect more at your peril, it at least your disappointment.
Bring a chair and arrive early if your kids are going to play in a tournament here. The facility is very nice in terms of the courts, but the lack of space for spectators makes it's a pain to be at. Parking is a hassle if you don't arrive early and likewise, you won't be able to find a spot to sit or set your chair up. Regardless, this facility is really well run and maintained.
Cool place to practice basketball, volleyball and even ping pong
Courts are nice the food is good, but the bathrooms and water fountains could use some maintenance
Pretty cool place, really hot though, especially during the summer.
It has everything an indoor vball or ball player needs, plus good food
The space is filthy! Both the courts and the bathrooms have seen better days.
My daughter has been on the elite team for two years. I like the many tournaments are held right there. You can bring food with you or order some right there.
Played in the President's Day Showcase youth basketball tournament. 40 boys and girls teams. This is a warehouse style facility in an industrial park. Courts are rubber tiles on concrete. 10 courts, smaller than official size. VERY limited seating for spectators; bring chairs with you. Parking lot is very small and you cannot park in lots around adjacent buildings; Must use street parking, some quite far away. Concessions available - coffee bar, burgers, dogs, Chinese food, drinks, fries (but they ran out of fries before 2 pm). Limited seating in food area. Bathrooms available on site. Wheelchair access. Short drive to plenty of outside food choices.
Great on site food selection, a little cold in winter
It's a great place to go for the practices and the like but the bathrooms are a mess.
They don’t keep their bathrooms clean... nasty
Nice place to play volleyball. Courts have more space than volleyball house.
Bring your own chair. Well layed out and the courts are great!
Place is a great mix of courts allowing for many different activities. Challenge can be the distractions of balls all over the place if people are not controlling their areas.
Wonderful facility! They donate it to Special Olympics Howard County for our yearly Volleyball Tournament.
They need more seating! We always have to bring chairs.
Cool place that has open gym Fridays at 5pm-10 but can get very crowded and pushed off from playing
I play volleyball here every Friday night. Friendly staff, great facility.
Nice place, easy to find, clean bathrooms
Great job with social distancing and minimal people in the space.
CLEAN, NO BLEACHERS, SMALL. NEED OWN CHAIRS. PARKING IS LACKING NEAR FACILITY BUT PLENTY OF PARKING ON THE STREET.
The place was really fun, but it was also kind of dirty though.
The bathrooms were disgusting, it was a 2 day tournament. Stalls were broken on both days. There was trash all over the floor including sanitary napkins and tampons.
AAU Basketball Facility. They need air conditioning in the building. I gave it 4 stars for not having AC.
Love the cleanliness of the area and how it is maintained throughout the tournament.
There is a lot going on here. Many different sports being played by many different kids concurrently. All age groups represented here well. I appreciate that the I9 league is all encompassing of the fundamentals of whatever sport your youngster is signed up for, plus at the end of it all every kid gets a trophy for participation. The facility itself is fairly large, and there's even a grille area for snacks, fries, Chinese food(?!), etc. I had some misgivings, but I think that to be more related to the league itself versus the actual facility.
nice pickup on Friday's nights.
Okay, so we need a venue like this along Route 108 (Olney-Sandy Spring Rd). Perhaps in Laytonsville one day? Anyway, the parking is okay, the food served both on site and adjacent are adequate. Plenty of fast food options away from the complex. However, the teams are jammed in there along without spectators. The bathroom facilities need to be better maintained given the amount of people attending tournaments - believe me, that alone deducts 2 stars as it gets pungent very quick.
Weired set up but gets the job done. No a lot of parking.
Last time we come to this place it's very hot
I practice their every week it is a very nice place
Very large facility. Good food
Good competition, lots of courts, but no AC
Fun location to host sporting event. Snack bar serves decent chicken teriyaki.
Was here for a volleyball tournament and parking always sucks here.
A lot of volleyball courts. Their clothing vendors were friendly too.
They serve food to you there but the wait takes forever!
Large warehouse of volleyball courts. Bathrooms need upgrading
My U S A volleyball center to officiate matches!!!$
Nice courts but no air..
Open play on Friday nights is competitive & great!
I wish they had open gym 5 days a week
Spacious and good court was nice
Convenience and easy to find. Provide eatery ,
Need better ventilation in warm weather.
Keep the door closed! It's cold outside!
Really clean and productive environment.
Not a replacement for friday night drop in at volleyball house ☹
I9 Sports basketball is the home here it has coach Kelly coach Justin etcetera. It has cords that are good in the front but in the back it doesn't have basketballs it has tennis balls but in the front there's basketballs. If you want your child to be here often then sign up to i9 Sports basketball Howard County.
Great place to win and lose
I didn't like the parking
Crowded parking and broken toilets
Lots of volleyball/basketball courts.

Great facility. Very nice cafee inside with great mix of American and Chinese food. Menu consist of chicken teriyaki plus burgers, fries and chicken nuggets. Not a a huge selection, but just enough The food is very tasty and high quality. Also wide choice of smoothies, coffee and drinks. Restrooms are very clean. Friendly and helpful personal.
It is a great practice facility and I love that they serve food. They also have a coffee and smoothie bar. For tournaments, the venue is crowded.
Very large and open space. Adequate bathrooms, although only one set was open for the 2 tournaments. Decent food selection, delicious coffees, and efficiently run.
Cons: not enough seating, VERY crowded and difficult to move through during tournaments. Expect long lines for the bathroom and food always,
