I come here all the time after work to exercise under the lights when it is dark. (There's a timer if you want to turn them on under the bridge.) People stick around until 9 pm and it feels very safe at night, usually someone is panhandling in the parking lot, no biggie. Day time I would recommend the new greenways on riverside for most cases instead. It's a good place to do a track workout, or rollerblade, 0.33 miles around the running loop. Also a closed space to take your kids if you're uncomfortable with them riding near the road. Just try not to let them wander into the rollerbladers or cyclists. I used to race bikes @ ROF here on Wednesdays at 5 pm, (in spring the track is reserved at 5 for the races, so don't come then).

Can we copy and paste this entire park to a location in north Charlotte? That would be wonderful. This is definitely a unique experience that I hope more cities try to replicate.

A lot of different activities from biking volleyball bocce ball running roller skating skate boarding, ice hockey, really big playground. Really good spot to visit with running trails all around it and good access to the river. Public restrooms are right out front. There is a little memorial to the history of the race way that used to be here. Trail leads all the way to a dog park as well as a brewery on the other side

This is a great place to ride your bike in circles! It is clean and well-maintained. I like that the only way in and out is on the bridge going over the velodrome because that makes it much safer. In the middle, there is a hockey rink, a huge playground, and sand volleyball courts. It is a great place to take the family.

Great place to ride or run safely at night. Well lit until about 8pm around the track, then they shut the lights off. Wish they kept them on until closing. Roller hockey! Volleyball! Basketball! Our communities need more places like this.

This is a great place to get some exercise and blow off some steam or just hang out with friends. There are many activities to do here. Rollerskating, basketball goals, a roller hockey rink, volleyball court, and a track to ride your bicycle on. Plus a playground for the little ones. Theres also plenty of trails to walk near the river and a large field for throwing a frisbee or yoga.

Walk my dog here weekly, live within 5 minutes. They just redid the MellowDrome, and made access easier. Love this park! So many good memories here.

I raced a bit on this in the 90's and happened to stop by today. It's not a true Velodrome, but the track resurfacing is fantastic. Smooth banked concrete gives a facility few cities in the US can rival

In-line hockey! Yes! Great park with tons of activities and usually at least one event going on here. Also has a drop for kayaks.

Open to the public. Enjoy your chance to ride on an oval Velodrome. Track surface is concrete and in good condition.
