Reviews of Asheville Skatepark
Decent skatepark with quality concrete. Not many cracks or gaps in the pavement. Street skating is kind of sub par, but if deep bowls are your thing, this place has several to skate. From beginner shallow bowls to a monster 20 ft tall bowl, the park has you covered. The street park is tough to get speed to hit the Only Rail and the Only ledge on the fun box. The box is decent, the Flat doesn't have enough space to really let you position for tricks. Rail is a bit tall for how little speed you can get. Overall a decent park.
The surrounding area is sketchy and shady. Tons of homeless people, bad vibe from the junkies.
Parking is terrible, and the homeless seem to be peaking into cars. A few negative reviews mention the same thing. Watch for signs for On Street parking, lots of small No Parking gaps.
Great little skatepark. Lots of stuff to do for such a small space. It was well designed and fairly clean. We are from out of town and went there two different times while in town. Once in the evening and almost every section was being used by multiple people. Other time was morning and only one section had one other person.
There wasn’t a lot of parking and what parking was there was being used by people who were not at the skatepark. I knew this because the morning we went, only one parking spot was available but only one person was at the park.
I personally wouldn’t let my son (13) go alone. And I definitely felt safer having my husband with us. There was security cameras though. Don’t know if they are monitored or not
Surprisingly it was a great experience. We came from hot springs to let my 6 year old ride, he is just learning. The other borders were great espressos this one young child who spent 30 mins helping my son. He was amazing and almost 3 years older
its old and has a odd lay out but its fun also its very hard to find parking.
Sweet park fun and good time's great for kids but bring water because it gets hot 🔥 …
Best park I’ve been to hands down. 4 levels of perfect transition and smooth sealed concrete. Gets bigger as you go down each level so there’s something for all skill levels. Some coping drop ins both vert and smaller, and some roll ins both vert and smaller. Well placed bumps to pump and bowl corners to boost out of. There’s a tabletop jump and a fly topped long pyramid, a couple ledges and one flat to down box rail on the pyramid. The only thing that could be better is if they added some more street features maybe on the uppermost level that’s just flat ground atm, like maybe a rail, manny pad, and small stair set. Other then that though it’s smooth and flowy af.
Plenty of vert and transition to skate. If I remember correctly, it was built around 2001. It needs to be updated with more street/tech obstacles. Hopefully the city leaders, or someone with way more connections than me, can make it happen. It's strange how all of the better designed skateboarding plazas are 30+ minutes outside of the biggest hub of WNC.
This park is fun in itself but I highly advise against going at night alone and be mindful if you have others. I was sitting in my car one night after skating getting ready to leave minding my own business when I had a gun pulled on me. It’s right in the middle of downtown
Great park for it's size and it is bike/skate friendly!
Really cool skate park with lots going on around it. When we were there there were all kinds of restaurants, booths, and shops. Everyone at the park seemed friendly.
Nice skatepark. Centrally located. Parking can be a challenge. BEST OF ALL, IT'S FREE! 🙂 …
If you're more of a very skater or even looking to learn this is the place! I've seen bikers here, rollerblades, scooters, but mostly skateboards. Different sections with a little bowl up top, quarter pipes, half pipes in the middle, and the big bowl at the bottom. Lots of good vibes and friendly people here!
It may be a little rough around the edges, but everyone gives each other space when they can, even when it is crowded. My reason for three star's is, it's not exactly my sort of thing. Came here with a friend awhile back and brought our mountain bike's. It was ok, but we realised that without BMX bike's we were limited in what we could do on the course, plus this was my first time visiting a skate park. Overall it was interesting to check this place out, but not very practical for mountain bike's, which are more suited for Carrier Park, and of course the mountains.
A very good park after you learn the basics, I recommend going to foundation if your new because this park is kinda better for people that at least know how to drop in, and ride in. But if you know how to do all of that and then some then I highly doubt you will hate this park
Smooth linear concrete park with 3 completely separate sections; large bowl, street, and a 5 foot roll-in only bowl.
More transition than street, but it can be pretty fun. During a nice day it can be easily crowded, so I will usually go early morning or later at night.
It's great if you skate vert bit for street skaters tho . But still a fun park
Transitions are huge, more of a bmx Park (lots of bmx riders here today) the peanut bowl at the top is super fun to cruise around though. Also lots of trash and homeless lurking.
There is an awesome skating community here. Many awesome older skaters go out of their way to put the little ones on the right path.
Me and my friends will usually go here to do stuff on my BMX. It is alot of fun with 4 main bowls, usually at least one of the bowls is always open but sometimes it is more crowded. Alot of fun for a weekday activity.
Absolutely love this Skatepark! It's clean and Sunny and the Kids are all so well behaved.
This is an awesome skatepark, but bums and scummy people overrun the park. Go early, and leave when crowds get big. Lock your vehicle and don't leave stuff laying around. Be ready for people to beg for money
Totally rad place to thrash some nar! Great dropins and wicked outs!
This looks like a cool place to skate! I don't anymore, but if I did, I would definitely go here
Nice little skate park right in the middle of down town.
Nice place to skate, bmx, roller skate, or scooter. Thank you Food Lion skatepark for keeping us happy and fit.
One of my favorite parks to visit! Good layout and good vibes every time I've gone
Lovely park, I love when it's mostly quarter pipes, even though it's kinda gnarly. Lol better know how to roll into coping with this one
Super cool place to skate. Would recommend checking it out.
Cool place, non judgmental people since I just started skating.
Is good as long as you dont go at night. Homeless people can hang out there sometimes.
The ramps and what not sure nice but there was some trash sticks etc in the way when you skate that are a hazard
This park is still one of my go to parks in this area. I like they have something for everyone.
Good place to go, most of the people are friendly , my son really likes it
Decent slate park, could be bigger but it's what we got so most can deal with it
Chill place to hang out. Great area with mountains in the background. Cool place to chill with friends.
Awesome skate park in Asheville NC. Fantastic cut into a sloping hill
Great place for free parking a nice walk to downtown.
One of the best skatepark s in WNC!
I’ve never been here before. Can you ride bmx bikes here
My Dad broke his leg in the bowl back in 2009 LMAO 🤣 …
Look like a good park but found it closed
Son loves this skatepark! Its for all levels!
Pretty awesome park. Concrete is scary though....haha.
Pads and money no thanks . Nice place though still!
From beginner to pro this park has something you will enjoy.
Excellent free outdoor skatepark. Unattended.
Decent skatepark if you don't mind the people there
