Reviews of Rabbit Creek Shooting Park
Ronald Plakus
Great place for the beginner or the experienced shooter. The Rimfire range has never been busy yet. The power went out to the facility couple days ago and it was closed when I returned on Sunday. Should have been open according to the hours on the schedule.

First time here. First time shooting my firearm. Staff was nice. I had a great time!

My main complaint is the closing time , most people get off at 5pm which makes it pretty much impossible to come here on a weekday . Why not stay open till 7-8pm ... This other complaint is not being able to shoot steel .
You would make a lot more money in memberships if you let us shoot steel. Especially since Birchwood is robbing people nowadays
Paul Fairchild
Its the only range in Anchorage and its close to home. The alternate is an hour drive south.
It has to get 5 stars because its there and open
Inside shooting is a blessing on windy and cold days. Lots of action and turnover. I have never felt unsafe. The staff is trying very hard. The mix of folks very quite a bit in terms of experience with firearms.
The shotgun range is terrific and great for beginners. You can borrow a very nice shotgun to shoot a round of sporting clays.
The classroom courses are interesting and move along fast.

The staff was all friendly to me and they make it easy to follow the rules. Rifle range was nice. They provide stands which is AWESOME. Ears for rent for $1, stands and sandbags for free rental I believe. Not expensive. The 5 stand was a lot of fun. Not too easy and not too hard. Don’t forget steel shot if you want to bring your own but they have some there to buy.

Great range friendly staff and good safety oriented I like how thy put up nets so the semi auto people don’t fling brass into you

Good for beginners as well as convenient due to proximity to Anchorage. One would think that Anchorage would have more firing ranges due to the right to bear arms but then again, it appears that the ruling class of Anchorage does not necessarily share the same sentiments as the majority of Alaskans which is confusing. If this range had an indoor range, it would have gotten a decent 5 -star rating.

Nice range /heated shooting stalls /state ran so rules are kind of restricted... NO holster firing /no fake tracers /no extended mags/no mag dumps etc etc etc. That said free target stands and the range itself isn't very expensive. Try to make it for clean up day! They need the help and you get benefits.

Well organized, great staff, and affordable for being (pretty much) the only place to shoot in Anchorage. In and out, and of you live here get the year pass-- it's worth it. Only critique would be a request that they stay open past 5PM. Get off work, go shoot for a little while. Other than that, this is a great place! Highly recommend.

For a state run range, it's pretty good. The rangemaster are decent folk having to deal with a wide "range" of people with lots of different shooting agendas to deal with. For what they have to do, they run the show fairly well, however there are somethings for shooters to consider before going:
1) Range rules are pretty typical for safety - it's by the book.
2) No reactive targets or other targets. Basically clays and paper targets are all you are going to get to have.
3) Shooting intervals are around 15 minutes. During an all clear there is no touching your firing line gear (what's on your table).
From time to time you'll have people come in who have made me decide to come back another day. Your mileage will vary.

Great first time at this range today. Very nice and helpful staff and range officers.Spotting scopes and many other helpful items available free of charge. Definitely will be making a habit of going here for range time.
Clancy Derrick
Always a good time here. The recent improvements at the rifle range have really helped reduce lane confusion. The RSOs are friendly, but firm when it comes to enforcement of the completely reasonable rules.
Ryan Stafford
If you live in Anchorage then you can't beat the quick drive to Rabbit Creek Shooting Park.
The layout of the Rabbit Creek Shooting Park is easy to guess just by watching who is shooting what. Before you leave the parking lot put some ear plugs in. The parking lot will fill up, so you may need to keep driving North until you find something.
Go inside the main building across from the rifle range, pay the man and read the rules. They sell paper targets and snacks. There is a small room to rest with a coffee and some reruns of old TV shows.
Once you find your range then pick a spot and wait until "All Clear" to touch your table. Don't ever touch the weapon when people are down range from you. There is tape to hold the paper targets to the boards, but you may want to bring your own sticky tape.
Finally the covered spots have a heater above you, so use it. Bring a thermos of coffee and you'll be nice and warm.

Hours of operation make this a mostly weekend only stop, which collides visitors with lots of other shooters.
Very limited range rules don't allow any kind of defensive tactics work.
Pistol range has about a 3 yard minimum target distance, and rifle minimum is 25 yds.
Otherwise, decent option out to 100 yards for basic shooting needs.

This is a very nice facility. While daily rates are reasonable, the annual pass is the best value if you're a frequent shooter.
There are separate ranges for archery, handguns (50 yards), centerfire rifle (100 yards), rimfire rifle, five stand shotgun shooting and training. Spotting scopes and rifle rests and chronographs are available for a very modest rental fee. Targets are also sold at the clubhouse. Firearms and ammunition are not available for purchase or rental.
Although the structures provide some protection from the elements, everything is outdoors. Dress accordingly, bring PPE, follow the rules and have fun.
Rogue Leader
Nice clean range with covered and non covered options. Staff was friendly and didn’t intrude. Called a cease fire every 15 min to allow changing of targets. I will for sure be back!
Matt Derr
Nice range. Friendly and helpful staff.

I went during the day, but the facilities were very nice and it wasn't overcrowded. There's a nice lounge with what I assume is a workbench (I'm not sure if it's aesthetic or functional).
