Friendly staff who guided me to the isle that I needed. As I was looking around, numerous staff asked if I needed assistance or wanted to know about the product I was looking at. Even the cashier was engaging, asked if I found everything I was looking for, and thanked me for shopping... The tennis balls I purchased were for the walker for a family member. Under $4.00 for a do it yourself project (photo attached).

Great greeting at the front entrance. We went to look for tennis for my kid but there wasn't any in a 7 1/2 mens. Yesterday we went to see if they had volleyball nets. There wasn't anyone on the sales floor to assist us.

Was checking out their guns & other accessories. Bought some nice clothes on sale. Would have gotten the gun I wanted there but they do not accept the LA wallet (louisiana driver license app). Which is ignorant to me considering you can actually link your insurance cards AND your fishing license or conceal & carry permit. So why wouldn't they accept a actual government form of Identification? This is 20222... almost 2023. It's digital tech that was literally made by the government.... to show our government issued DL... ID etc. The state of LA dmv has actually had the app now for years. I'm surprised it isn't being utilized more... & certainly while buying a gun. It's scannable... thats a lot harder to make a fake than a hard copy. Just saying. Other than that it was all great.

Greeted at entrance by Academy Greeter . Asked by greater if I need help finding anything . I found a bike I like and Academy Associate brought bike to checkout line for me. It's a clean and bright color store , easy to navigate through and browse all merchandise . Huge selection of Shoes on clearance . Very friendly sales reps helpful about items not in stock and how long until item is in stock again , which is a satisfying aspect about Academy Sports !

Went in to purchase a gun. The gentleman working the counter had his hands full with a lot of customers. But he maintained his composer was nice and helped me pick a gun and apply for it. Looks like a stressful job to me but he totally handled it.

Went there to get an angled fore grip for my 10MM PCC. I looked online first to see if it was available. When I got there the associate didn't know what I was talking about but when I described it he pointed me to the correct aisle and at the end was exactly what I was looking for. The only way this would have been better is if the had 10MM ammo in stock but good trip.

Place is great especially since it doesn't take a couple hours of standing in line due to 2 customer max. It has some items that are extremely over priced but the staff is incredibly kind and courteous. The store is always very clean and they keep product on the shelf. I'd give it 3 stars as I got exactly what I expect from a business of it's kind. Keep in mind weekends are much busier than weekdays.

Always find just what I need for any sport. From cycling, kick boxing, soccer, swimming, golf, football, baseball, fishing, canoeing, archery and work out equipment. Academy has it all.

They do have good things to buy there. But recently I wanted to buy a college shirt for my daughter of another state. I know Academy has sold all the college's shirts before. I asked about the shirt and the employee was very rude and cocky. Stating the always only sold our state and each state sold their own. Then walked off. Ok then God bless you too. The rudeness was very uncalled for and unprofessional.

Good place to purchase off the shelf guns and ammo. They also have an above average BBQ/cooking section. Pretty much anything you need for the boat as well. All the stores are stocked pretty well and clean.

This is a sporting goods store with the standard selection of items expected. However, if there is a sale or promo item, they typically run out quickly. Also, in roughly five visits I've found the cashiers rude every time. Tip - they do offer a military discount, but make a big deal about how difficult it is to give you. If you're a spouse, they may or not offer it. For not even a 3% discount, their attitude really isn't worth it.

Store is fairly clean and there was more staff that were responsive and helpful than my home store. I was shopping for a bike, and on the day I was there, the bike selection wasn't great, perhaps they were waiting on a truck but I can only go on my experience. I could not find a men's mountain bike because there were only a few in the store and none met my needs. I was disappointed after seeing how many academy usually carries.

I visited the shoe department, the sales staff was extremely knowledgeable and walked me through everything I needed to know and answered every single one of my questions. They are a good sports and outdoors store. They have a big selection of fishing, hunting and camping gear. They also have Everything you could ever need for an outdoor excursion and more.

Everything went as I expected it to not a bad experience at all. Some employees need a check they don't greet they don't sound friendly but there are others that go above and beyond especially the guy at the gun counter. Can't remember his name but he was there today this morning and helped me.

A young lady in shoe dept provided excellent service in locating a pair of shoes. I picked up a few more things and headed to checkout. Only had customer service registers (2) open with very long lines. It was 5:50pm on a Sunday, which was pretty busy.

Really glad I found Academy Sports as an alternative to some of the other chain retailers. Generally a good selection on just about anything from outdoor lifestyles to indoor activities. Covers about every sport golf to Kayaking. Reasonable pricing also.

I like this academy way more than the one in gretna and harahan La..they are always well stocked In the hunting and fishing section..the Academy in gretna is a disgrace and they never have as much stuff in the hunting and fishing department as the kenner location...the Harahan location is ok but not as nice as the kenner location...alright I'm just rambling now but I'm sure yall get the point

I just wanted to say thank you guys for all your help. I bought a depth finder for Christmas and installed it in my boat. after the first uses it stopped working. spoke to a manager named Juan he checked the computer and found one then called to make sure they put it aside for me. also allowed me to just change the base unit, so I didn't have to Uninstall the transducer and power cable. thank you Juan and Mrs. Barbara at the Metairie store
