Absolutely amazing fly shop! Their selection of fly tying material is second to none. They were more than helpful and knowledgeable of the materials and surrounding area to fish. Best prices in the area too! Looking forward to visiting again!

I used to live in Nashville and Fly South was my go to shop. Jim, the owner, has always hired great people. In the past, I've had an employee LEND me 2 custom tied tarpon flies for a trip to Florida. I was back in town for appointments, and stopped in for a t-shirt. It's been at least 5 yrs since I've been in the shop, and Jim still knew who I was They set the bar very high for me, as a consumer. Very few, if any shops, have been as accommodating.

Arguably the best Fly Shop in the South. I started my fly tying addiction in the back of this store thanks to Jim M. and Jimmy D. Even after @ 20 years of shopping here and tying flies, it gets better and better every year. If your lucky enough you might even get to experience some of the best hot chicken in Nashville and Fly Fishing relics. Jim always has friendly staff who want to help. Thanks, Fly South.

The staff here is always very helpful, and the selection of rods, reels, tackle, flies, and accessories is always amazing. When it comes to things that can be as particular as fishing gear it is wonderful to be able to hold something in your hands to see if it will work for you - and in the case of waders, wade boots, and a shell jacket - even better to try on and know you'll have a local place to get repairs or advice. I make it a point to visit fly shops wherever I go, and in several major cities, many small cities, and on two continents this is still the place I'd rather give my business to. We're very lucky to have it in Nashville.

I can’t say enough good things about Fly South. They have a pretty good selection for such a small store. But if you need basics all the way up to high end glasses, you can find it. But the best part is their staff. They are always willing to take their time to help you find something that can advantage you on the river. And - all this in Middle Tennessee!!

Outstanding customer service. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. When trying to find a guide who could take us out on a lake when the water levels were too high, they told us they didn’t have the boating capabilities that day to help us do what we wanted to do, but they referred us to someone who could. Pure class. Extremely great selection of quality fly fishing as well as fly TYING gear. Definitely stop by if you’re in town!

I want to Patagonia to look for some fishing clothing, and they sent me to Fly South. The guys in the store were SO friendly and helpful! They asked for details on our trip and gave great suggestions without pushing or overselling. Hopefully my upcoming trip transforms me into a real fisherwoman, and then I'll be back to Fly South to load up on gear and supplies.

Fly South is the best fly shop I have ever set foot in, and I've been in a lot, having fly fished for the past 24 years and guided for the past 10. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. There is an incredible selection of rods, gear and flies and the tying room is absolutely insane. It has everything, even a movie theater for watching fly fishing videos and movies. Great, great shop.

Great service and great selection. These guys were excited to help as soon as I walked in. The knowledge here was awesome and I'm sure any question you have could be answered by one of the employees. Whatever you're fishing for you'll find what you need here, the selection was incredible. There was a very comfortable atmosphere here and none of the pretentiousness I've seen at other fly shops. Whether you're just starting out in fly fishing or you've been at it for a while, this is the place to go.

A friend told me about the place. Definitely worth your time. The store is well stocked with good stuff, and not necessarily all expensive stuff. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. One of the nicer shops I’ve seen. Their selection of tying materials is second to none. If they don’t have it, you don’t need it. Spend your dollars however you want, but remember that local shops like this are an asset to the fishing community, and they are getting harder to find.

I have to really consider this place a "World Class" fly shop located amazingly in the heart of music city. They carry a lot of ultra-high end tackle, apparel and supplies but I stopped by to see if I could find anything in the realm of "beginner" grab-&-go combo's expecting Fly South to be way out of my budget. To my delight I was able to pick up a very reputable make and model at only $10 more than it's listed online which these days is a steal. Most of all - I especially appreciate the "everybody starts somewhere" attitude. They broke everything down and taught me a lot without making me seem like an annoyance. That is reason enough to shop with these guys.

When you walk in, Angels sing as you see rows of fly rods and reels. There are flies, so many flies. All the gear you could want. They have equipment and gear across so many price points. If you are into fly fishing or want to be, go here. Also, the staff is very nice and polite.

Fly South is clean, modern and well stocked, with supplies for the fly fisherman and the fly tyer. Whether you need a pair of Costas, waders, or just some good advice, the guys at Fly south have you covered. Check em out!

I have had a recent interest in fly fishing, and have spent several months learning what kinds of tools are needed. I was still a little uncomfortable because there is always so much to learn for someone without experience. I was in Nashville for a conference in November of 2015 and saw that their shop was just a few minutes away from my hotel. I was greeted when I entered and told the employees I was looking around but would probably ask questions later. I was free to roam the store without being pestered, which is my preferred way of shopping. The store seemed to have a nice supply of waders, boots, flies, rods, reels, and clothing. I then told the employees my interest in learning fly fishing and my desire to keep costs reasonable. Zach suggested a Redington outfit I had previously studied online and gave me good reasons why this rod would be an excellent choice for a novice fly fisherman. I decided to take it, and he connected the leader and tippet, showed me how to tie everything together, how to connect the rod, the proper way to place the rod back in the case, and suggested some other things that I would eventually need. The store wasn't busy, so Zach even gave me a quick lesson in fly casting so that I'd feel more confident and have a better idea what to do once I hit the water. He also recommended practice casting until I learned the feel and rhythm of the rod. Both employees were helpful and personable. Prices were very reasonable. I rarely write reviews, but I was very impressed by the service I received. I'm looking forward to stopping by the next time I'm in the area. I can't recall the last time I received this kind of genuine attention in a retail outlet, where the focus was on getting me the things I needed rather than trying to upsell me at every opportunity. I highly recommend Fly South.

Been shopping, guiding and hanging out with the Fly South guys for 10 years. One of the coolest fly shops in USA. Great guides whom I've fished with on several occasions. These guys will share river knowledge and techniques with a stranger and really know the various tailwaters throughout Middle Tennessee. They host the annual Fly Fishing Film Tour, and several other social events throughout the year. Definately use Fly South as your 'Local Fly Shop' in Nashville, Tennessee.
