Thrifty Outfitters has real deals! I got a four foot length of super strong nylon cord for less than $3. The folks at Midwest Mountaineering where Thrifty is located upstairs in, keep the best possible items in stock.

Best place to go for all Hiking Backpacking and other related gear needs. Cheaper than Big Box stores like REI, great selection and helpful knowledgeable staff.

This place has an awesome personality. Upstairs in Midwest Mountaineering. Think 60% off new high end outdoors gear! Plus they have wacky signs all over and a fitting room that looks like an outhouse. And they fix gear.

Great store. I'd say skip REI and shop here instead. They have a bargain area with quality gear on sale and the products they sell are quality name brand stuff just like REI. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful throughout the store.
