We just bought two base model Minnesota fat bikes, and took delivery in the box. 3 out of 4 wheels were perfect, one had a slight defect that required replacement. We bought these last minute before a trip up north, and of course didn't catch the defect until the day before. We strolled into The House with the defective wheel, Zach was awesome and a few minutes later we were walking out with a fresh wheel, no questions or hassle whatsoever.
Thank you guys so much for putting out cheap, excellent bikes and the top notch after-sale support!

Sure they have good prices, but I waited for over a month without receiving the snowboard I purchased. After a month, I requested an update via their contact form online. No answer. After another week, I requested another update via their contact form. NO ANSWER. I tried their chat function, "sorry, we're currently closed." Attempted calling during their posted business hours on the website "sorry, we're currently closed please call back during business hours (listed business hours that indicated they close 30 minutes after my phone call)" Tried chat again, waited for 3 hours for the chat to time out and I lost my spot in line. Rejoined the line, was placed 88 in line and waited an additional 3+ hours to finally get ahold of a representative who told me that my board was sitting in their warehouse, shipping label printed out and ready to go. I requested a refund and it is being processed, I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on, peace of mind knowing my order and customer service is being handled properly is worth more than a few saved dollars.

Updating and increasing my rating due to The House's speedy response to my review and effort in getting the order out of the door. Still not an overall great experience, but they're effort to go out of their way to make sure my needs were taken care of is admirable.

Highly recommend ordering winter sport items online to save $ + free shipping on orders >$100 versus going into store which these prices are traditionally higher. Unlike previously, you are no longer available to pickup online available items/online prices by requesting them at front desk, only online sales get the decent prices which I understand this since they now have (4) warehouses. *Also, be aware that during busy winter season they put winter coats, snowboard bindings, etc on sales floor w/NO prices so you have to ask sales assoc to scan to determine actual sales price. Was not interested in typing in items on there website to determine price which possible this price is available "Online Only". Giving them 4 stars due to price, availability & want to naturally see them keep succeeding.

Good experience but order processing was inconclusive. I realize customer service issues can be complicated for newer companies. Like when a package gets mangled in shipment. Or a refund gets sent to the store and not the customer. I understand the processes involved.
But, their prompt and accurate attempts at problem resolutions deserve attention and respect. I'm rating with three stars for their noble and sincere effort at accommodating my original order and refund-exchange request and thank them for their continuing hard work! :)

I'm very impressed with The House's customer service. I purchased a kayak and had live chats before and after the purchase. They were very prompt with their actions and provided accurate info. With regards to returns damaged in shipping, The House does what is best for their customers. Decisions were within 24 hours (by the next day early morning actually). Next season I'm interested in getting SUPs and will consider buying from The House after my recent experiences. FYI - they have a warehouse in CA which they ship from as well so that may work out for you if you're on the west coast.

I have been a fan of The House for quite some time and I can even remember my first purchase from over ten years ago. The selection they have is incredible and if you are in need of outdoor equipment then chances are you can find it here. In all my years of buying things from this company I had never had a single issue when it came to getting my items. I would order what I needed and my items would be shipped faster than I expected. This winter I bought a set of skis from my son as a Christmas present. He loved them but informed me that they were not the ones he was hoping for. I was not sure how to return them and contacted the company to see if online orders could be returned in store. I began an email exchange with William Kenney and he did everything he could to make sure my return experience was the best that it could be. With the skis returned and the pair my son wants on its way, I can say I am a satisfied customer. I can not say enough good things about The House, this is just another example of why I continue to give this place my business.

After emailing William my problem, it was fixed and shipped that day. I got my Copper Spur UL HV1 bike pack tent for 67% off! It's a legitimate site. If you have patience, which I obviously didn't because of how close it was to Christmas, this is a great place to get great deals if you have the time. Thank you William and Johnny. 4 stars! I ordered a ton of snowboard gear on this site. Happy with the overall experience. Not realizing that all snowboard boots run small, needed to order more and that was a little inconvenient. Definitely order a fill size bigger than your regular shoe size. The returns process was a little clunky. No response to my customer service email or my multiple attempts to call via the contact center aka 866 number. I finally went online and chatted. This worked! Kayla was informative and efficient. I feel like I'm going to be able to do my return without any further issues. Thank you Kayla!

Update : the house contacted me and sent a new pair of boots. They are not the color we wanted but are the style. Overall they made things right but still disappointed in ways that it took complaining to get any resolve Ordered boots and bindings. Only binding arrived and company can’t seem to answer a phone return a chat or email. So far out 500 dollars for boots that were never shipped. They said they were shipped in the same box as the bindings. Pretty sure that’s not possible as the box is the same size as the binding box. They initially started a claim but haven’t done anything since.

I ordered a downhill ski combo (skis and bindings) about two weeks before Christmas. After about 6 days of waiting, a couple online chats and a phone call to customer service I got bad news saying the order was cancelled due to an over sale inventory issue. Thank goodness The House has hours on the weekend! I called on a Sunday during my lunch break and Nathan answered. I gave him the short version of my situation and he understood immediately. He worked in unison with his boss, Tabitha and together they came up with a great solution that I was happy with. They were understanding and apologetic and looks like I'm supposed to receive the new order Wednsday before Christmas. Thanks again, your generosity is greatly appreciated

Teach your shipping crew how to pack a box. I received a big open box with the one strip of tape holding it closed coming off, inside this box minus any packing paper was the much smaller open box the bindings came in with the various binding parts spilled out, amazed that no parts got lost. Price was great and it all ended well so you get 4 stars.

So far, not so good. I wish I have seen these reviews sooner. I have ordered 3 items Dec 2,2022 which is a Friday. And from what I have read directly from their website is that I would get a TRACKING number by Wednesday. It is now DEC 10 2022 and still have not got a tracking number. By seeing these comments I am hoping on a miracle for my items to be shipped on time. And I have paid for Expedited shipping as well.
Customer service - I tried calling and no answer for 30 minutes. Tried CHAT service and everything I am next on que. It resets! The online and phone service is HORRIBLE!
Update - after I left this review I have received a tracking number. But it was only partial order. I looked on the website to if to see why and it said my other item is back ordered. But when I ordered it I made sure I didn't order a back order item.
I have emailed the owner who replied to this review. The have also received the items that shipped which I'm thankful for. I'm am now off a happy customer now. My rating goes from a 1 star to a 2 star due to customer service and lack of communication.
Update - after leaving these reviews the company made efforts to contact me via email and phone. I spoke with a member named johnny and he was very professional and apologized for the inconvenience. He made sure I was happy and was able to get me another order since they ran out of the one I originally ordered. And now the board has got here before Christmas and I'm stoked! Big redemption on The house. I will say I will be a returning buying customer. The house is legit. My rating goes from 2 to 4 star.
Recommendation to company is to have a a preferred way to contact because via chat and phone calls just ain't it. But still. I appreciate the efforts.

Placed order many many many weeks ago and although a shipping label was created and status was updated to shipped, there's no movement on the tracking. I've tried to contact via phone, online forms, online chat, and even Instagram and I either get zero response or am told their very sorry and that staff is working 12 hours a day... Frustrated that I can't seem to get any actual valid response about the status of my board. We ordered 4 boards, 3 boots, and 4 bindings and everything arrived except for this 1 board... And all I really want to know is that the shipping label wasn't lost and that the board (and my order) are still in existence. It's so hard to watch my family having fun while I stand there waiting to borrow one of theirs when they take a break.....
I too have waited hours for the chat queue to get to 1 - only to be timed out.
I get that there's short staff, but a good business would take into account the supply demand and would proactively plan accordingly (hey we are going to be having a big sale, let's hire some temp staff to help out)..
UPDATE - Because I understand how things like this can happen, and I believe 100% that the issues are not intentional, I am changing my initial review from 1 star to 4 stars. My hope is that when this company has another epic sale, they will learn from this experience and do much better. William - thank you for overnighting my snowboard, with all the new fresh snow we've just received here in MN I can't wait to get out there!

Get your snowboard gears from here! I'm a beginner at snowboarding and I finally bought my snowboard, boots and the bindings from the house website. They have a huge discount right now so I bought everything almost half price!(even though 2023 season) I was really impressed with their customer service. Live chat agent Kenny J was the best! He helped me to find the right snowboard for me depending on my body/shoe size and level. Kenny was so so helpful and answered all of my questions. I'm so excited to start my snowboard journey this winter!

Placed an order for snowboard boots on 12/9. When I ordered it said immediate delivery was available with free shipping. It's now 12/20 and not even a confirmation email has been sent to me. Nothing. But the $425 charge went through on my Amex. These boots were all my boy wanted for Christmas. Thanks House!!!! And good luck getting a hold of anyone on the phone or by chat. Don't waste your time!
Update- revised to 5 stars due to the stellar customer service once I was finally able to get a hold of someone. Speaking to someone on the phone was still near impossible but after a small wait I was finally able to text with someone and they resolved my problem. Still ruined Christmas, but got my money back for the boots that arrived after Christmas.

I found a direct Email for one of the employees and she was very helpful in getting things resolved. New bindings were sent, and now finally have a functioning new set of skis for my son. I dealt with a couple of employees through Email who were helpful and knowledgeable, but the company needs to get things sorted out so you can actually get someone on the phone or by Email quicker. There are reviews from last year around the same time with similar issues of not being able to get ahold of anyone. That would have been a little more understandable last year, that was still weird pandemic and outdoor sports mania time, but they've had a whole year since then and haven't seemed to get customer service and order fulfillment figured out. So thank you to Jess Bell and others who sorted out my problem even though it obviously wasn't their fault. The House just needs way more people to answer phones and other customer service inquiries.
ORIGINAL REVIEW -
My first order placed on December 11th the skis and bindings never shipped. Very difficult to get ahold of anyone, ended up finally calling a number for the physical store and getting ahold of an employee. Found out eventually that they either never had the skis and bindings I bought, or let them sell out before sending mine. Placed another order for a different more expensive set of skis and bindings as there weren't many options at this point and Christmas was getting closer. Those arrived much later than they should have, but did make it to me the day before Christmas. Turns out they sent the wrong size bindings for the skis, which is crazy as this was a package deal from them, how many of these have they sent out like this? Now I can't get ahold of anyone to resolve this problem, my son didn't get usable skis for Christmas, I finally got the refund on the FIRST screwed up order just the other day. I've never had an experience like this with a company before where I can't get through to anyone. Order # 8399564 .

This company is impossible to get ahold of. First time I ordered from them a product said in stock and ended up being backordered, I had to reach out to them to figure it out and cancel the order because it would not of made it in time for my trip. So now I gave them another chance because they had a great deal on a product I was ordering for an upcoming trip… again. I’ve called them twice and been on hold for 30 minutes each time with not even one answer, and emailed them twice as well and not heard back. Not the kind of customer service you expect from a domestic company.
Edit: I’ve received a response finally and the item has been shipped. Apparently they are very backed up with orders but in my opinion they should send out an automatic email when you’re placing an order saying that there is a delay due to volume right now. This will also prevent them from receiving an excess amount of inquiries on pending orders

I ordered the Salomon HPS Taka split board for a great price, but when I went to mount the board one of the touring bracket mounting holes was damaged beyond repair. Kirsten and Anthony at The House worked with me during the crazy week between Xmass and New years to FedEx express me a replacement board free of charge in time for me to take it on an upcoming trip. They were great! Unfortunately there were weather delays and the board got lost in FedEx. Once I finally received it, the skins it came with weren’t trimmed and didn’t have the tail clips installed. Also, I’m a bit disappointed with how recessed the screw holes in the bottom of the board where the joining clips are mounted are. There’s about an eighth of an inch deep hole for each screw. I haven’t ridden the board yet, but so far I’ve been very impressed with The House’s customer service and disappointed by Salomon’s manufacturing quality.

I love shopping for gear at The House. We've built up SO MUCH of our camping, snowboarding gear from this retailer. What I love most about them is they're willing to work with you and *GUIDE* you. I've had to return a couple items in the past (e.g. mittens that came too small) and sometimes, I've been on the fence with something I ordered (e.g. "I *think* these shoes fit fine… but it's too early to tell"). They're flexible with me (btw, in those 'on the fence' moments, I've ended up keeping my items, even though The House said I could send them back. Thanks to Cassie or Kirsten or Autumn… I've called in and discussed gear with reps several times (with snowboarding, ski gear AND camping gear).
Recently, I ordered new snowboard boots, both for me and my wife. They arrived and I was unsure about how tight they were. I thought I'd have to return them—both pairs! I called in. I spoke to Kirsten, an avid and experienced snowboarder. She listened. And then she sent me a video about boot-fit that I wish I had seen 4 years ago when I started riding. Once again, I ended up holding on to them. Good thing I did. They feel great now. I'm looking forward to riding with so much more response and control this coming season.

I purchased an In Stock kayak 6/14 and as of today, 7/12, I was informed that it was still at the warehouse and had not shipped. So far I am not impressed. I ordered a paddle at the same time and it took 3 weeks to ship. My first and most likely last transaction with them. I will buy local from now on.
Update- after a week of not being able to locate the kayak, they refunded my order. Today my kayak arrived but is missing the drive system. Currently awaiting what happens next. I didn’t sign for it and the delivery company didn’t let me refuse it.

Good selection of gear. The main store was well stock with ski and snowboard items. The outlet is further back on the road, had a great selection of bikes, apparel, and camping gear. Prices are fair, the outlet prices are awesome. If you don't see something in the store that is on their site, ask someone and they can check if they have it in their warehouse. Staff knows there stuff but aren't always available. It would be neat to see some female staff though.

The House always treats me incredibly well. I’ve been buying ski gear and bikes here for nearly a decade and the service is second to none. Particularly in the bike department, the staff are very helpful and attentive to detail. They also are very, very reasonable with their prices for maintenance and parts compared to stores and chains elsewhere in the Metro. Sadly my last bike from The House was stolen, but I will be buying another from here soon.

My only complaint is that you can no longer find stuff online and then pick up in store. It was just nice before when you could find something online and then see it in the store before buying. Absolutely terrible customer service. They don’t answer their phones (was on hold for an hour two separate times and was hung up on) and they don’t respond to any emails. The chat feature on their website would not work for me as well. Placed an order 8 days ago with the 3-6 day ground shipping. One one out of the six things I ordered has shipped but have not received a confirmation email about the rest of my items. When ordering, the website states it takes 1-2 days to process items before they ship. If it’s taking longer than 2 days to process items your website should state that accordingly so people know that their items won’t be coming on time.
*Edit* I was able to get into contact with the companies vendor relations (Jess Bell). They were able to resolve the issue promptly. I was told that next year during the holiday rush they will be more transparent with processing and shipping times. Hopefully they follow through with that.

I purchased my skis online, the website design requires a little bit more work to make it user friendly. But the product and shipping are phenomenal. Brand new skis in plastic wrap with good packaged protection. Shipping speed from WI to Mi is one day. It's much better than Sunandski IMO.

Really enjoyed buying my bikes here a few years ago but a bit less impressed these days. I brought my bike in for a tune-up last month and asked if they wouldn't mind changing the tires since I had a fresh pair to put on. After not hearing anything after the estimated time had passed, I had to call to figure out whether my bike was ready. Found out when I picked up my bike that they had lost my service ticket, so I had no idea or record of whether the tune-up was completed or not. The people at the counter only knew the tires were swapped and I think all that is all that was completed - my bike started clicking in higher gears right off the bat so something is off with the derailleur or shifting cables

They have a good store, with lots of snowboards and gear, though a very small selection of downhill skis (not a negative, just be aware that they are more directed towards snowboarders). They are also a very pleasant staff, and nice to work with.... My complaint is customer service - we had to return ski boots, filled out the warranty and were never contacted again. After we followed up they gave us a gift card, but we cannot use it on the website because it requires a PIN, which we were not given. I have been unable to reach them about this despite numerous chat messages, hours on hold and an email.

I contacted The House and their customer service rep helped me immediately by sending me a return authorization and # with instructions and I was able to order a Email Gift Card for my son at the same time so he could open it on Christmas. Honestly the absolute worst company I’ve ever ordered anything from. DO NOT ODER GEAR FROM THEM. They don’t even deserve one star, as not one part of my experience has been satisfactory. I ordered a new snowboard from them August 27. When I ordered it, it said it was on back order for 2 weeks. Well, long story short , two weeks got pushed to end of September, then end of October , end of November— after multiple trouble tickets and contact attempts to customer support I was finally told it would ship dec 15th. It didn’t. They won’t refund me and are completely ignoring me— won’t answer emails, won’t respond to my tickets created online. Today I sat on hold for 2 hours— no answer. I bought a snowboard pass this year, so excited to go.. now half of the season is over and I still didn’t have a snowboard. So even my season resort pass was a waste of money. They have wasted countless hours of my time and hundreds of dollars. While still not having the decency to make it right or even give me answers. I have never been so disappointed. I typically don’t leave negative reviews, but don’t want anyone to go through what I went through. They don’t deserve your business. Save yourself a wasted season, don’t order anything from them unless you want a 5 month nightmare.

I like the house as its quality and prices are pretty great. However, they need to work on their customer service.
Like other reviews has stated, truly "terrible customer service" I had made several calls to 3 different numbers I found on their website and social media and after I was on hold for 30-45min, nobody picked up and I got hung up on. The chat service also does not work. I had no choice but to call the curbside pickup number and that is the only person who actually does work and answer his phone. He tried to help and prompted me to "customer service representative" but again after 30min, no one answered. I needed assistance to return a few items that does not fit me with a big order I placed a week ago. However, the website said they cannot find my order using the order number and the email I provided. I sent out an email, hopefully I'll be able to get a reply.
To their credit, all my items did arrive on time. And the quality is great, just some items are wayyy to big that I need to find something else.
Please work on this issue as I am not the only one who complain about customer service.

Shipped two pairs of snowboard boots back to them for a return in December. They do not return emails or answer the phone. They did not refund the money to my card. Did a charge back via the credit card company and The House says they never got the return. I have proof that it was received by some guy named Grayson on 12/20.
I cannot get ahold of anyone there. No one responds to emails. I've waited on hold several times for over an hour. They owe me $406.96.
Edit: they got back to me and refunded the money. I upped my review to 4 stars for the quick response and resolution. I didn't give them 5 because this whole thing was difficult. However, they did fix it, and they've been overwhelmed by the amount of covid business with people wanting to do outdoor stuff. The guy that I finally got in touch with was super helpful and nice. It's just unfortunate that in order to do so that I had to post a negative review to get in touch.

I ordered a set of ski bindings; I was told they would ship within a week. A month passed, no word. I tried calling multiple times, they hung up on me after 20 minutes on hold each time. I emailed, no response for literally 3 months. And that response was to inform me that the bindings were out of stock. Mostly frustrated with the lack of communication here- I always understand if it takes longer to ship, it’s just nice to know the status of the order.
Edit: change from one star to five. I had the above scenario happen to me. After leaving the review, William from The House reached out wondering if he could help in any way. I had previously gotten myself ski bindings elsewhere so I didn’t need anything. However he sent me a VERY generous gift card to redeem at The House. They managed the problem very well and made sure to change my mind about them! Excited to purchase something with the gift card! Thanks again!
Edit 2: I ordered Marmot Featherless Hoody Jacket a couple weeks ago. I since received a promotional email about a sale on that jacket (with a lower price). I reached out to William to inquire about any chance of me getting the newer, cheaper price. He VERY promptly got back to me, offering me the lower price. Seriously so unexpected but appreciated.

Edit: this company did reach out to my issue that was stated below and they are making it right. Just be aware that your order might get messed up, but they will eventually get it right.
This has been the biggest headache ever. I ordered bindings back in July and they were backordered until August. After the backorder got pushed back even further, I email them to have the address changed. I get confirmation that address was changed fo reflect my new address. The bindings got back ordered even further, which at that point I just wanted to get a pair they had in stock. I had to pay and extra $50+ for the difference in the bindings, understandable. They told me that the bindings would ship immediately. After a WEEK of no shipping confirmation, I had to email them again and ask what was going on. They said there was an issue in the shipping system (I understood because stuff happens) and they said they would ship out the next day. It finally got delivered, according to the tracking number. I never received the package at my door. After having to dig through emails and see where the package was shipped, they wrong address (my old address that I confirmed back on Aug that they changed).

I've had two positive experiences with online orders from The House. I gave this place a try when I found a bike (Fuji Cross 1.5) that I thought would be out of my price range on sale on their website. They only had one bike left in stock, and it happened to be in my size! I took a chance and ordered it. I had to call customer service and and confirm my information because my shipping address was different from my billing address, but the waiting music was fun and the phone call was quick. The bike arrived surprisingly fast after that! I had help from a bike mechanic, but you can also pay to have most assembly done before shipping. Long story short, the bike is perfect for me and way better than I thought I could afford! I have since purchased some cycling jerseys and shorts that were all high quality, name brand, new with tags, and cheaper than I found anywhere else.

1st experience. Purchased bike that showed up 90% assembled which is fine, didnt want to drop $100 to put handlebars and seat on so no problem there. The rear deraileur was a mess and I was not able to adjust for whatever reason, after several instructional videos I still couldn't get it done. They said they would be able to adjust it but will charge normal labor rates to do so.... Other shops offer several free adjustments up to 1-2 years...I couldn't get 3 hours here. I didn't find the price to be that amazing that it would account for the absence of customer service.

I all so purchased the Assembly for $99 for the warranty to be valid. I wasn't so happy with that, I had to align both calipers on the brakes. The wheels aren't as true as I would have expected. I'm glad that I have been building bikes for over 30 years because their assembly person didn't do a good job.
Save your money and have a local shop build the bike for you, that way you can deal with issues on the spot!

( board, bindings & boots). Within 24 hrs we had it delivered to our door. Items looked great. He wears a 9 1/2 -10 boot so I Ordered a 10 1/2 size boot to make he had a bit of growing room. They fit but not any growing room. Next time I would order a full size bigger.

The Smartwool is nice. But since I got blue leggings twice when I already sent them back. It is wrongly stated as black. I received blue. Either your staff is color blind, or I am meant to wear ugly blue leggings. They match my jacket, ok they are not that bad.

Fast delivery, everything arrived in perfect condition. The board did break through the box at the nose-end edge. That could be a FedEx handling problem, can never tell, but maybe an extra wrap of thin cardboard around the curves that protrude the most could help.

Purchased a snowboard jacket for my wife for Christmas on line on December 6, 2020. Showed that it would arrive before Christmas if I purchased at that time. Got a confirmation that they had received the order but still as of December 15 it has not shipped. Three days straight of phone calls to them with no answer on their end after holding for up to 30 minutes. Finally yesterday was able to get a hold of someone that said it is making its way through the warehouse and should be shipped tomorrow Wednesday, December 16. Highly unlikely that it will make it here before Christmas if at all. After two different emails sent for order status and multiple phone calls I’m not impressed with their method of customer service. Will update this post to let everyone know how this turns out.
Update: 12/24/20
After posting my review back on Dec 15th I received an email the next day from Jess Bell who was very helpful and interested in taking care of my issue. He had determined that the item I ordered was no longer in stock at the warehouse and that I should have been notified that my order could not be completed. He was apologetic and suggested I order a similar item off their website and he would offer a discount (which ended up being about 20%) and quick shipping. Three days later I received the jacket and have it in time for Xmas.
I appreciate his attentiveness to the matter. My suggestion is for better customer communication options as I have read quite a few other reviews having the same issues.

My new bike arrived in good time and easily went together. I would love to give 5 stars but there are a few niggly things that bother me.
1. The blue trim paint runs into the black paint. I mean it looks as though someone didn't do a careful job of masking the black in spots.
2. I paid $99 extra to have the bike adjusted and tuned before shipping. After careful assembly of the front wheel, handlebars, seat and pedals, I discovered that the bike will not shift onto the big chainring...i'm still fiddling with it. Seems like inattention to detail or rushing to complete the assembly and tuning.
3. my shipping invoice listed all items shipped. Apparently I was supposed to get another set of tires....they weren't in the box.
4. Finally, I went online to register my bike. The page could not be found.

I tried emailing a several times with no answer. When I finally called they said it might be inventory issue and they will verify right away what’s going on and get back to me. No one got back to me.
