Went here three separate times over the last week to get everyone outfitted with skis. I worried with three sperate people on each visit and each of them were knowledgeable, courteous, and incredibly patient as we made our selections. My son wanted his skis for the weekend and they talked to the ski tech how was happy to get everything adjusted right then and there instead of waiting the typical three days. Great midseason prices and huge selection. I will buy all my skis from Joe's going forward with how well we were treated.

My husband had stopped by Joe's to buy a new pair of ski boots last week. He worked with Carrie, who was so knowledgeable and helpful. We stopped by on Sunday to find boots and skis for me. Carrie was there, but was at the end of her shift, so she asked a young man named Alan if he could help us out. Alan was incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and patient. He spent well over an hour with us explaining the benefits of the different skis and boots. He fitted both my husband and I for our boots and skis and stayed 25 min after the store had closed to finish up with us. We need more awesome people like Alan and Carrie in customer service roles because ultimately that is what keeps clients coming back.

Jim helped my girlfriend and I find ski boots today. He was 100% professional and extremely knowledgeable. He did not push any specific brands or try to upsell anything. We tried multiple boots to find the perfect fit. we ended up buying two pairs of boots and had my skis serviced. Hours after we left he called me to let me know they found some insoles that they were out of earlier and that he would set them aside for me. TOP NOTCH SERVICE, Needless to say they gained two more loyal customers!

Went to use the ATF fingerprinting kiosk, no line, wait, and was easy to use. Didn't have the ammoi came for 4.6x33mm and didn't have the ovix harness jacket I wanted either. Very expensive, top dollar price on everything and that was with 20% off on half the store. 450$ North Face coat please go rob someone else

Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. Been here several times and every time has been a great experience. Too many good experiences with their employees to take the time to write down to be honest. Great selection of everything from fishing to hunting and everything in between. Great and friendly and informative staff, it’s very obvious that they genuinely care and put the customer first every time. Please do yourself a favor and do your outdoor shopping here instead of Dicks, Cabelas, or Gander Mountain. This place is far superior plus you know your supporting a local stand alone store and not a huge chain. Stop in sometime. You won’t regret it.

When I was growing up, skiing and in boy scouts, my father always patronized Joe's for all our outdoors needs, especially downhill skis. I didn't realize at the time just how great this place is, and what an institution it is here. As an adult I've come back a number of times, and really learned why my dad always went to Joe's. Huge shoutout to the guys at the firearms counter, especially Jay. They helped me through the process of acquiring NFA items through Silencershop, and were very knowledgeable and personable, both on the phone when certifying my ATF Form 4s and at the counter in the store. They have always timely called to let me know when a suppressor is approved or is ready to submit the form on. I've also shopped here for outdoor clothing and wool socks, and been very pleased with both the items and the service. My only wish is for them to expand the fly fishing section, since I know they'd hire great people to staff it. This is a great, full service outdoors store, and I will keep giving them my business - it's a real treasure as an independent store, and so much better than the big chains.

Cool little store with a lot of cool stuff for outdoor sports plenty of hunting gear running gear fishing just about everything outdoors only walking through the self protection / hunting isles I ran across some pretty disturbing items that should be taken off the shelves as they are VERY DANGEROUS AND DECEIVING FOR CHILDREN please protect our children and take these deceiving items OFF the shelf really a first aid medic kit that conceals and hides a pistol ??? What if your children were to get a hold of this nonsense wasn't the most well thought out idea for protection concealment resthink this and try to come up with a better solution thank you other than that the staff seemed adiment about helping and very informational

Joe's has more than a ski shop but that's why I go there. They have an excellent full service tuning shop and they also sell tuning equipment for those who want to wax and tune their own skis and snowboards. They have full service boot fitting and of course all of the hard and soft goods for a day on the slopes.

Jim went out of his way to fit me with the perfect pair of ski boots and custom foot beds. He helped me better understand the specific anatomy of my foot and gave me a lot of useful tips. When he noticed that my young son was buying a ski helmet, he gave us some tips that will help keep us safe when we ski in Colorado next month. The prices aren't bad at all, considering that I'll hopefully keep my new boots for most of my adult life thanks to the custom fitting.

Great selection, very helpful staff. Went and bought a few items Thursday 12/30/21. Unfortunately to get home and notice more then one item I purchased was either broke, or had a hole. I have spent thousands of dollars at Joe's and my last experience with the quality control really has me guessing on all my other purchases I have made and If they may have defects as well. Eskimo shack- popped up first time had hole and bent poles. Auger bag- broken zipper When we called Joe's to inquire about the items and to do to an exchange or return they immediately put blame on me and stated I must have tipped my sled and the damaged was my fault Was very disappointed with the costumer service. Very skeptical to shopp again.

The amazing thing is that the sales peeps actually knew what they were talking about and actaully seemed like they enjoyed helping and were never in a hurry to get rid of you. John and Katelyn were super kind and helpful. Ski shop guys were great and knowledgeable. Even the helemts and goggle section was helpful. Took a lap through ice fishing section and even got asked if i needed help and had nice conversation with sales guy. In todays crazy world this is the stuff that really makes a difference and builds a stores reputation and retains repeat customers.

Stopped by to get some landscaping gear for my husband's summer job. I was overall really impressed with my shopping experience here. The staff was very friendly and attentive (but not over the top.) They gave me options and let me choose what I thought was best. They had a good sale happening at the time and I ended up getting a pair of nice hiking boots for $68. I passed on the pants as they were pretty spendy. The store was clean and well organized. Highly recommend this local store!

Joe's offers something you just can't get any other place. They have a wide selection of apparel, men's women's, and kids. If sports are your thing they for sure have it. I personally have spent most of my time browsing their fishing section. All the major brands you would expect at solid prices. My wife decided she wanted to purchase her first firearm. Evan in the firearms department was fantastic. He was patient and asked the right questions. Evan went out of his way to make her first handgun purchase easy and ultimately it was a fun process. The entire team working in that department seen to really enjoy what they are doing. This should be anyone's first stop for beginners to pros for your outdoor gear. Keep up the great work!

This place is great! The staff are VERY knowledgeable but don’t push anything on you. Terry in fishing is one of the best staff there. There have a lot of different things from boots to skis to fishing to hunting to clothes to swim suits. Great place to get what you need. They also have live bait for fishing which is awesome! They have pretty good sales when seasons change so keep your eyes out!

I was in the store today about 145 pm. A young lady (long blonde hair)at the check out counter asked what she could help with. I explained I could not get the voucher for my wife’s fishing license to work. She did not hesitate. She looked at the paperwork I had and explained the new regulations. She told me what information she needed from me and than proceeded to complete what I could not. I am very thankful for the I received. Joes needs to realize the quality people they have working. I went here today to look into cross country ski equipment. I am a beginner. I waited in line almost an hour to talk with someone, but it was absolutely worth it. Carlo was very knowledgeable and even though he had a very busy day, he was very polite and pretty much selected my equipment for me, which is what I needed. Joe's has been my family's go-to place for all things sporting goods since they were over on Dale and Front. They always have high quality stuff and interactions with employees have always been great. For example, six months or so ago my mom found a gift card to Joe's while cleaning that had $100 written on it and never looked used. She called up there to see if it was still good. Apparently they had switched systems since the card was issued and instead of saying "sorry, it is too old" they spent a good deal of time trying to track down the information and see if it had been used or not. That is way above and beyond. My main issue is actually getting help. I feel like it is always a long wait for bait and you generally have to ask for help, employees rarely approach you to see if you need help. Again, once you do talk to someone the interactions are great; they are friendly, knowledgable, and willing to spend time with you (which I know plays into the wait time). Lastly, when COVID hit, Joe's was the first store I went into that not only mandated masks, but enforced it. This was well before the government mandate- if I remember correctly it started as soon as they reopened after the shutdown. Until shortly after the government mandated masks and people started wearing them without being asked, they had someone sitting outside and turning away anyone you wasn't wearing a face covering (I saw some pretty interesting makeshift ones, but they had to cover the nose and mouth to be counted and for you to enter). The fact that they took my safety so seriously and put lives over money solidified my commitment to them and will be going here, well, forever.

6/22 Update: I stopped by Joe's and all I can say is wow. Joe's has just about every rod you can imagine all the way up to elite rods from G Loomis, St. Croix, etc. This is an old fashion kind of place - Plenty of salesman who know their stuff and are eager to help. I dealt with two salesman, both with plenty of expertise and great input. I explained my requirements and the second salesman recommended the Diawa Elite long cast frog 7' 9" rod (Just an FYI for Joe's- Only the Tatula elite crankbait rods are glass -GLATECH. This rod is of graphite construction: SVF nano-plus material with X45 BIAS construction). I also have a Poison Adrena and this rod with AGS Guides is every bit as sensitive if not more so. However, AGS guides are brittle and prone to breakage so one must be careful handling the rod. This rod wasn't even on my radar. I also purchased a Diawa Curado DC. They spooled up the Diawa perfectly There's a real value add buying at Joe's versus online. Worth the trip from Woodbury. Ordered fishing supplies online. Shipping and delivery were prompt, items were well packaged, and price was good. I'm a very happy customer and will certainly do business with Joe's again.

Great sporting goods store! I've never been to Joe's until today, and the gentleman that had helped me out in the fishing department was a great guy. First of all, I didn't know anything about fishing equipment before coming in. He was super helpful and knowledgeable, and he described to me all of the differences you would find between brands/high to low end equipment. So, this stranger on the internet recommends going to Joe's!

I was buying a gift for my sister. She wanted a new reel for fishing. I don’t know anything about fishing. Rick (Ricky) was absolutely incredible. He was very knowledgeable and he even took a reel out into the parking lot to demonstrate to me how it worked. He was such a great salesman I ended up buying two reels. I've been here 3-4 times to purchase a new rod or reel, and every time I've went, the fishing staff has been extremely rude and/or unknowledgeable. Clearly, Joe's doesn't hire people that care or actually know about fishing gear, which is sad. Please don't make me drive to Cabela's... Incredible customer service. Truth be told, I actually was looking at a pair of XC skis from a private party who had bought the skis at Joe's 4 years earlier. I called Joe's ski department for their thoughts on sizing and I was upfront with the guy on my situation. It was 8pm on a weeknight, close to closing, and he gave me the time of day as if I was buying in store in person. Turns out this pair won't work for me, so if I can't find something soon, I'll definitely be giving Joe's my business.

Joe's has a very friendly and knowledgeable staff who go out of their way to ensure your questions are answered and your needs are met. Joe’s carries quality products and routinely rewards customers with great sales and “thank you” coupons. I can safely say, customer service is Joe’s number 1 priority! In response to the Google reviewer claiming discrimination on December 12th… My wife and I were witnesses to this particular dispute (occurred at approx. 9:45 am) and although the man has his right to claim his condition, he also walked into the store in a pre-elevated state looking for a dispute. I am here to vouch that the store associates and manager handled this man with poise and professionalism, rapidly de-escalating the situation, allowing all the other happy customers to continue shopping without having to worry about one erratic customer. The way in which this was handled highlights what a great store Joe’s is and the great character of the people they employ! If been shopping at Joe's for years. It's my go-to store for fishing, hunting, and skiing. Roger and his staff in the fishing department are extremely knowledgable, honest, and enthusiastic. Last night I bought new ski boots there. The staff person was very knowledgable and helpful. I'll definitely be going back in a few years for new skis. I'd say the only con is the prices are sometimes high. But, they have lots of sales throughout the year to offset that.

I don't think often enough about Joe's Sporting Goods. A recent visit reminded me of all the variety of sporting goods, clothing, foot ware, and accessories they carry. I found myself stuck in the middle of the store sorting through racks of clothing and not being shocked by the price. While I did find an appealing jacket, it was out of season and I deferred the purchase. Instead, I found a really cool new baseball hat with a retro American flag with pine trees. I will be back!

Generally speaking I like Joe's. They have a great selection of high-end gear and clothing, the cashiers are extremely helpful and courteous and the floor staff overall is fairly attentive. Comments about the pricing being high is rather silly given the fact that the products they sell are of the best quality and are high-end in nature as previously stated. Brands like Filson, Patagonia, and Dale of Norway are going to be pricey wherever you go. If you wait for their seasonal sales there always bound to be some good deals. However, my only complaint is about their firearms department. They have a fine selection of quality products and accessories as to be expected, but it seemingly is the one department in the entire store that seems to be rude or short tempered. With but one or two exceptions every interaction I have had has been unpleasant for no reason whatsoever. I have even been hung-up on before after asking a question about a product, the employee simply said "no" and then click. However, it is the most recent occurance that has made me change my review. For the past two years I have had a firearm transferred to them around the holidays. The first year everything went swimmingly. However, this year when the shipping notification came in I received no call by the end of the day. I called the next day and they said I would receive a call most likely by Monday which I knew meant Tuesday because Monday was the 1st of the year. It will now be one week tomorrow since they have had my firearm and I have received no call at all about my firearm. Each of the two times I did call I received the same rude firearm department service I have come to expect from Joe's. I have worked in retail for years, my wife was the head of the receiving department at her job for several years, and it does not take five calender days to receive a product that came in on FedEx delivery. I am not sure if my paper work has been lost, if they have decided to prioritize receiving other products or what, but the whole department doesn't seem to care about what is going on. I would call a third time but I am nearly certain I would receive the same disdainful treatment. As I said, I like Joe's and I like virtually everything else about them, including hiring from the local Hmong community. I will continue to patronize them going forward but I will not be transferring any more firearms to them and am likely to make my gun and ammunition purchases elsewhere.

While I like this store overall it is not perfect. I had to wait a very long time to puchase a hunting rifle. I liked most of the goods on display in all the departments but it was limited somewhat by the modest size of the store. Some areas of the store are much busier than others but staff appear to be knowledgeable only about their limited area of specialty. The store is often busy so the person you need help from may be helping someone else. I was fully satisfied with the help I got eventually. I am still satisfied with my purchases from this store.

Went in to buy new skis, boots and poles and had a great experience. They had great sales and were cheaper than pierce by a wide margin and even a little cheaper than erik's for the same skis I wanted. Also had my bindings adjusted and on my skis within 20 minutes of purchasing. I will be back!

Great location for a quick stop before heading out to the lake. The only thing I don't like is the customer service from Kee Kong. Everytime I see him at the fishing area, he doesn't greet you unless you ask for assistance, and he's always giving the worse service with such an bad attitude. As someone who works strictly face to face with customer, he doesn't have the skill to persuade customers which item is the best bang for their buck.

So earlier today, 06/29/2020, we went to the REI in Roseville,Mn to look for shorts and hiking boots. Once I was told I couldn’t try on any clothes because then REI would have to put them in quarantine for 2-3 days, we put back the shorts I had decided to try and left the store. We have shopped at Joes Sporting Goods in the past so I called to see what their policy was. I was told that yes, I could try on any thing I wanted to and whatever I did not buy, they then quarantine for 3 days. Apparently REI has decided they are so special, that it’s not necessary for them to take this extra step for their customers. So at Joes, I ended up buying, 1 pair of Oboz hiking boots, 1 pair of Hoka one one shoes, 2 pairs of shorts and a hat. Price for all, just under $400.00!!! Both pairs of shoes were 25% off, shorts were 20% off and hat was 35 % off. The store was as full as the person counting people at the door would let it be. So if you are ever in the Twin Cities, I would suggest bypassing the two overpriced REI stores and going to Joes. Small businesses rule!!!!!

This store is really great, it really is! BUT when your buying ski boots or snowboarding boots, they don't let you get what you want. It sounds weird but, its true. Lets say you're a child and you want to get a little bigger boot because you're going to be growing. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU GET IT. They make you get your exact size which is horrible. I wear extra socks with my boots so I wear two sizes bigger than I "should." So, the other day I decided I needed new boots because my old ones were falling apart. I went here and I mean, I bought my skis and snowboard here but, when I try to get boots they wouldn't let me get the size I wanted no matter what. Before I had to order my boots online. I've skied and snowboarded for many years and they're telling me how I should ski/board? Ummm...no thanks... This really is a great store IF your looking to buying skis or snowboards. When it comes to boots... They don't let you get what you want. It sucks because the boot is probably the most important item of the set. I mean this by you need to get a comfortable one and they aren't making you comfortable because they want the boot to fit really tight. I don't have time to pay $200-$400 for a small boot every year because my foot changes. Other than that... I've bought my jacket and snow pants here, helmet, snowboard, skis and the bindings. It really sucks because Joe's is the only store that has such a wide selection in boots and I can't even get the one I want.

I dropped into this store on a whim seeing it from the hwy, with the intent of finding ski/snowboard items. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the discounted items as well as the supply of ski/snowboard tuning accessories (waxes, brushes, etc) that many of the other sporting good stores have much lower volumes of. The goggle selection is impressive and displayed very well. The snowboard goods selections is ok. They carry the basic boards, bindings, and boots. The service is ok. No different than any other comparable store (sometimes good and sometimes poor help). My new go-to store for ski/board goggles, helmet, and tuning accessories

I have been shopping at Joe's since we moved here in 2000 AD. (I am old so I thought the AD was necessary.) I usually get fishing gear and bait, one canoe and a kayak, camping gear and clothes. But I always go there for Danner boots. They fit like no other. However on this trip a very light weight aluminum trailor caught my eye. I will get it as soon as I figure out how to hide it in my garage. A garage should be like a bathroom, knock before you come in.

It's not a perfect place. I've had a few issues there. However, their bait is always priced right. Their gun counter is incredibly honest. Their gun and ammo prices are very competitive and they have occasional sales on musky tackle that are unrivaled. I'm unsure why so many have given them a one star review.

Joe's in Saint Paul and Roseville is the only sports shop that matters. Need fishing accessories, or special camping gear this is our neighborhood outfitter for anything outdoors, including Pendelton clothing. But that's the goods, the personal are our neighbors trading on reputation for our business, the store manager helped me buy cross country skiing gear, for forty-fives minutes and didn't sell me anything, we both needed help from someone else who actually selected everything I need including measurements in ten minutes. I spoke with Jim for quite awhile and found that he was concerned about my experience at Joe's and wanted to make everybody's experience better. After speaking with Jim I do believe that this was an icolated occurance. I will definitely stop in again when I'm in the area and give them another try.

I shop fishing gear at 2 places:Walmart and Joe's. Walmart has better list prices but almost no clearance sales a terrible selection. If you go to Walmart and say you want, say, Trilene mono fishing line, to an employee, they say WHAA? ME NOT GO FISHING. Dont KNOW WHAT THAT IS. But at Joe's, they will lead you right to the product, which may have a higher list price but is often on sale. Joe's has a better selection and friendly, English speaking employees, unlike Walmart. I go to Joes as often as I can; however at 12 years old I often end up at walmart since I live 15 minutes from Joes. and my parents are not always willing to take me to joe's.

Same as well for soft plastics, terminal tackle and typical northland tackle and rapala aisles... Cool store though more than just fishing

I've been a customer of Joe's for over 10 years and have always been steered in the right direction on any purchase I was looking to make. The employees take their time with you and make sure you are comfortable with what ever investment you are looking at making. I spend most of my time in the fishing department, hunting, and camping as my knees from many years of racing will not let me ski the way I enjoy anymore. If youre looking for fishing stuff see Roger, he's a little shorter and has a shaved head, he will likely greet you with "whats going on cuzin" and he knows the equipment pros and cons. Ive almost never walked out of Joe's with a bad experiance.

Back in April, I brought in a downhill ski pole that needed a new tip. I already had been turned away from Hoigaard's ("You need to take it to a Swix dealer") and REI ("We don't repair poles"). The fellas in Joe's ski shop had a replacement tip in stock, fixed the pole in 20 minutes, and wouldn't take any money for labor. That kind of service underscores the value of a good, local ski shop. I spent less than $10 for a service no other shop in town would even bother with.

Well Joes sent me an email letting me know that they no longer had the reel either but Jessie offered an upgraded pro series Lew's reel in its place for the same price. Can be hit and miss on if the staff want to help or not, but generally its a good place to stop for hunting and fishing needs. I don't ski so I have no input on that area. Camping section is kind of on the small side of things.
