Reviews of Finn Sisu
I got the best fitting & carbon boots, skis & poles, gloves & even encouragement on half off base layer. After Nordic skiing for 10 years & having skis stolen, I am grateful I could really upgrade. The skis are now art on my wall & I grab them & go & keep them safe & they keep my light on my feet & I’m sleeker out there than I was, now. I know the best tools can assist me in the best moves. Thank you for your expertise, waxing, waxing clinics, safety, and great service on off hours. I’d never intend to buy all of this during your busy time. Thank you for taking the time with me & I feel I have most definitely the best skis I’ve had since beginning the journey in this sport.
I bought skis, poles and shoes yesterday, after coming in with minimal knowledge and experience. I wanted to start skiing again after a 30 year hiatus, mostly as cross training for summer backpacking. The staff did a great job of setting me up with everything I needed, and helped me pick out a versatile and entry level option. I went out skiing today to Theodore Wirth and had a blast for over two hours. My body says thanks for the tools to get great workouts in during the winter months!
It took 5 months for my sauna to built and installed, but if you want the best (Finnleo) it's worth the wait.
Great place for all your Nordic skiing equipment needs! Finn Sisu has knowledgeable staff who are ski fanatics who also volunteer in the community supporting local and high school ski clubs and public ski trails. When you shop at Finn Sisu, you're supporting an organization that invests in the community and that in turn supports local high school students in their pursuit of Nordic skiing.
We got great service from Emmett, he was thorough, he patiently answered all our questions. He helped us select just the right equipment for our newbie cross country ski experience.
This is a great place to buy nordic ski equipment. They have a huge selection of skis and gloves, jackets etc. They have a limited amount of sauna supplies like essence, dippers, buckets, timers and thermometers.
So helpful! I really appreciate the expertise and the approachability of this establishment. I never feel bad about asking questions and feel confident that I will get thoughtful and tested info
Fantastic ski shop! Always have helpful and welcoming staff in the shop.
Sometimes you can’t control when something goes wrong, but you can certainly control how you respond when it does. Purchased a set of roller skis, bindings, poles, and some extra ferrules. Unfortunately the shipper lost the box with the skis. It took a little time to work it out, but Rebecca got another set of skis shipped out with a different shipper and was able to salvage an unfortunate situation, not of her doing, in a manner that deserves the 5 stars she got here. Will not hesitate to patronize Finn sisu again in the future! Thanks Rebecca.
All my sauna questions answered by very friendly staff. Top notch XC ski service too.
Get your cross country skis here. Great service and very knowledgeable!
A super helpful team of experts. Whether you're looking to buy a pair of skis, get some gear, or get a pair of tried and true skis stoneground and waxed, Finn Sisu is probably the best shop in the metro area. Extremely competent and very VERY nice staff.
Super excited about the Yoko jacket Karen helped me pick up! While I'm not a skier, there are tons of options in-store that work great for frigid MN winter running, she helped me find something to fit my winter training goals, and she was patient as I mulled it over since I'm a "research it to death before purchasing" person. Thanks for the help and expertise!
Hidden gem in Twin Cities for those that want expert advice and fittings for skis, snowshoes, clothing, & accessories! Your skis are selected by your individual frame and weight. They have a light table that show correct flex needed in your skis. Waxes and accessories..they have it. Also they are observing mask guidelines for the current pandemic! Appreciated! My first visit with my son that is doing Nordic ski training. Check it out .it will beat big box stores in expertise Everytime. Oh, they also do repair work!!
Nice store with good selection and all COVID precautions in place. Staff was very friendly and helpful getting us set up with two classic ski packages, walking us through all the basics, and making recommendations in line with our skill level and intended use. On top of that, they had a great little ski package for our 2 year old to start learning. We'll probably be customers for life.
I needed a large pair of cross country boots and they had them in stock. I called the store with some questions and they provided excellent customer service patiently answering all of my questions. I ordered my boots online and they arrived within a few days. Perfect fit. I will not hesitate to do business with them again in the future.
Great customer service, super knowledgeable about XC skiing. We are beginners and needed to know/buy everything to start the hobby. They ran through it all with us while keeping our budget in mind. If you need quality equipment or are beginning to xc ski, I definitely recommend going here. You won't be disappointed.
Great service. Listened to what I wanted, explained things well and was patient while I tried on several boots. I am very happy with the product - traditional cross-country ski package. Went out skiing that afternoon and even though the snow was horrible I went twice as far as I planned. Aidan is great!
I called 3 other stores yesterday who don't carry or were sold out of classic cross-country ski boots. Finn Sisu had 'em, & the clerk who helped me was knowledgeable & efficient in helping me get exactly what I wanted quickly. It likely wasn't the cheapest option but I walked out with a pair of high quality boots and got to spend the rest of my day on trail.
Finn sisu is one of the greatest cross country ski shops in the twin cities. I come here for all my skiing needs, from clothing to the latest advancements in equipment and wax.
Their customer service is impeccable, and they are extremely generous with their warranty/replacement for broken equipment broken within a year of purchase (which we all know is a common occurrence!). A few years back one of my roller skis broke, and I simply walked in with the broken ski, and they replaced it immediately no questions asked and at no cost to me. This week, my husband broke a (very expensive) pole that he purchased at the end of last season, and the same service applied, they replaced it with an identical (expensive) pole at zero cost.
I love Finn Sisu!!
I rarely write reviews, but when I do it is when their is fantastic service. I had gotten a pair of skis from elsewhere and I was worried that the flex was wrong and they might not fit. Even though they were from a different source, the salesman took a look and had me stand on them and did their flex test to determine if they were the right size. Luckily, they were and they were able to sell me the bindings and put them on the skis on the spot in just a few minutes. I will definitely be back here for all my Nordic needs, after visiting a number of the different shops in the cities I can say this is the most helpful one! They may be small, but they have a ton of gear and great advice!
Great place if your a cross country skier. All the equipment you could possibly need from beginner to pro. Helpful, knowledgeable staff. Easy checkout.
Stunningly great customer service! I came in a novice, and Nate spent 90 min setting me up with everything I need to tackle a winter in quarantine - boots, bindings, skis, & poles. I feel prepared and confident to enjoy the snow, thanks to Nate. Thank you so much for your fantastic customer service!
Buying skis here was easy and informative. They took time to select the right pair of skis for me at the price I could afford. They also gave me a basic lesson on waxing my skis. Great and friendly staff who stayed after store hours to make sure I had everything I needed.
This is the place to go for any cross country ski related purchase or advice. Very helpful staff. They have strong passion for cross country ski and it is contagious. You do not feel like they are all in it for the money.
Recently I had a very good experience with them replacing my two years old skate skis with a new pair (free of charge in less than 5 mins) after I broke the binding from the core of one of the skis. Strongly recommended.
Super positive first experience. Marshall and Jojo were very patient and helpful. I found a pair of ski boots that fit perfectly.
Absolutely outstanding sauna and world class off the charts service…Nate came out adjusted my sauna door with no charge! UNBELIEVABLE
thank you Finn Sisu … you’re amazing!!!
This place is the best! Their staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They were able to swap out a pair of skis that had been improperly fitted, get the bindings mounted and wax them in an afternoon in time for my race over the weekend. And they stand by their products and services! There is a reason I drive all the way from northern WI to go here.
Best ski shop in the Twin Cities. Friendly, knowledgeable staff + a full range of gear for all skill levels. Bonus, if you order online, you may get goodies. In my most recent order, I got a half eaten donut. Not sure how the FDA would feel about that, but I was hungry, so not a problem.
Unbelievably helpful, kind, and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of top brands. I've had my skis race waxed at the store multiple times for City of the Lakes, the Vasaloppet, and Birkie, and they've been fast every time. I wouldn't go to any other store.
This shop is like a little visit to Finnland. Enjoyed sharing stories with owner and Greg. Heard great recommendations for trips and equipment. We are from Tennessee but will stay in touch with Finn Sisu. Only ski store I have ever known to have precision devices to measure spine of skis and skier weight. Birkie racers get their prep here.
Excellent cross country ski shop. Excellent helpful staff. You can get a set of skis, bindings, boots, poles for 300 bucks. You can also pick up whatever high end equipment and waxes and advice you need to win the Birkie.
Always a great experience here and appreciate their professional service. Recently had many questions and needed knowledgeable feedback…and Nate was super patient and gave me fantastic help. Thanks so much!
I have been buying skis here for almost 30 years. If you want your skis to fit well and you want expert advice about how to wax for races, this is the place to go. They are also patient with folks that are just beginning. They carry a range of skis from beginner to expert. I won't shop for skis anywhere else!
Having experienced problems with my skating skis during the 08-09 season, I dropped by the shop fully expecting to buy a new pair of (expensive) skis. After explaining my issues to the staff, they sold me...a $15 riller (after showing me how to use it.) Amazing. They didn't want to sell me stuff I didn't need--they wanted to help me ski better.
This is the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. Back in December I bought a brand new pair of Yoko YXC classics. Unfortunately, I broke the tip off of one of them. Only having them for a month, I was so frustrated and I thought I just threw $300 down the drain. Boy was I wrong. I go to the shop, and get a brand new pair of skis covered under a FULL WARRANTY! No charge what so ever. They fitted me again, put my old bindings on the new skis, and sent me out the door with a smile on my face. Long story short, I’m a customer for life.
You'd drive by this place and never notice it...but you should! Awesome service. Brought in my wife's broken nordic pole/tip. They fixed it and put on used but perfectly fine baskets and adjusted the length since they were slightly off. No charge! That's the way to gain a customer.
This place has Covid precautions figured out. They have a drop off and pick up table outside if you don't want to go in, and a roped off traffic flow and plexiglass over the counter if you want to go in. Masks and hand sanitizer are available right at the front door.
I went over right at closing time for help with a broken rollerski pole tip. They fixed the broken tip from their parts bin and sharpened my other poles and wouldn't take money.
Finn Sisu has supported the ski community for years in little ways and big ways. Im often reminded when I'm shopping there that they aren't in it for the money, they really want to share their love of the sport. I'll be back again!
I’ve been buying my cross country skis and gear from Finn Sisu for years (since high school). They’ve never steered me wrong. Always friendly, knowledgeable staff, great prices and service. You can’t go wrong.
The best service by far when buying XC Skis or any related equipment.
Skis, boots and poles need a precise fit for each person and this is the place that will dial in what you need!
Excellent service! Went to there to get a pair of roller skis for my wife, and swap the nnn bindings off of my skate skis for a new set of sns (which we hadn't purchased from them). They swapped the nnn's off my skis, installed them on the roller skis, and mounted the new sns bindings on my skis free of charge! A few weeks later I decided to try my luck on the roller skis, and managed to snap the frame in a rather spectacular fall. We brought it in for repairs (expecting to pay over $120 for a new frame + labor), and they simply handed me a brand new roller ski, and said have a nice day. They swapped the binding off the broken roller ski and mounted it on the new one, and handed it back. No fuss, zero charge, because we hadn't had the roller skis long. Extremely satisfied, and will happily return for all my XC needs.
A friend suggested Finn Sisu to help with a pain I was having in one foot after skiing for a couple of hours. The salesman looked over my boot and asked me to wait a minute. He came back after putting a lift in one side and said give that a try. I asked how much and he said "no charge"
The next time out, no pain. That is some fine service. I know where I will buy my next pair of skis or equipment!
Fantastic customer service, they had exactly what I needed. I love looking around the store at the posters and such. The new building is fantastic. The sauna area is wonderful and the staff member there, Arman I think, was very knowledgeable about his product.
Very helpful staff with a large selection. They gave me good advice for the proper gear for my son’s first year of high school Nordic Skiing.
Best place to buy XC skis in the twin cities! The staff is super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
One of the premier cross country ski and sauna shops in the country. Staff that love/live skiing, stock a full range of products, and can provide guidance and even instruction.
Have purchased two pairs of rollerskis from them, excellent customer service, very good people to deal with, made sure I had everything I needed. And shipped quick
One of the best places around for knowledgeable help finding the right cross country ski gear!
Great ski shop. The people who work there are very nice and helpful. I consider this place to be the best place for XC skis in the Twin Cities.
Best little ski shop in Lauderdale! Or anywhere, really. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great to have a local shop like this around.
Great for the ski enthusiast, great staff and a great selection of ski equipment and apparel. Fast turn around on waxing services too!
Great repair and waxing shop. Had Marwe roller ski ratchet wheel repaired. Done in 15 min.
Best ski shop in the Twin Cities. A real community asset!
Very nice staff, very good selection, very good prices. The only place to go for Nordic ski equipment
Awesome store. Had the waxing profile, brushes and wax I was looking for. Very friendly staff.
The best, most knowledgeable staff. They all really care and want to help get you out on the snow and skiing fast.
Awesome store for the nordic skier. Great selection, knowledgeable staff.
Super helpful and honest employees. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to get into XC skiing!

Highly specialized Nordic ski store. As you would expect, very knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Great service and they are Nordic ski experts!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, good selection, fair prices. Plus they sell saunas!
The only ski shop I love and support!
Patient & knowledgeable staff who helped me stay within my budget.
Great place, staff and selection. Go here, skip Joe's. The staff here actually knows what they are talking about.
Great store and even better team members working with a TON of knowledge.
No better place for anything cross country skiing. Greg knows all!
A great shop with a definite focus on the high end of the cost/performance spectrum.
Meh. End of ski season, but no sales and minimal stock. Friendly, though.
Terrific cross country ski store!
Extremely knowledgeable staff. Don't even bother going anywhere else!
