Interesting story. Was looking for a specific Patagonia Jacket (Radalie in black)and my size was not available, nor was it in stock. The salesperson checked on line and I was told it was no longer available. When I got home, I went on line and was able to order the jacket I wanted. It came from Dayton, New Jersey and I had it in -4- days. I love ❤️ this Quest store and will continue to shop there.

First off I love this store. If you want high quality outdoor gear , then this is the place. What really sets Quest apart from other stores is their employees are knowledgeable in what the are selling.I bought a knife and I was surprised how much the associate Damon knew about knives. Being a knife guy that is really nice for them to understand what you're talking about. I'm so glad I found this place.

I lost my favorite leggings that have either been discontinued or were out of stock everywhere else, and I was desperately searching for a replacement pair. Quest had what I think must have been the last two pairs in existence in the size/color I wanted. I ordered from ~1000 miles away and they were shipped and delivered in 4 days! I appreciate it SO MUCH. I will be in Louisville this summer and will definitely stop in to shop in person!

Incredible experience here! Coffee shop in the store with a super friendly barista. Great selection of outdoor stuff. The guys at the register (Mike) were helpful and hospitable. Definitely worth the stop in. Everyone was friendly.

Im not from Louisville and this was my first time in this store. I was so disappointed that I got in to late because they were closing early for the holiday. The staff was extremely friendly and they had an amazing product assortment. The prices were also in line with any other outdoors store ive shopped. Thank you quest

I live nowhere near the store and just ordered on the website, but I was super happy to find a place where I could order a Patagonia sweatshirt that was sold out everywhere else. Order shipped fast and I even got a UPS tracking email right away. I'm always nervous to order from stores I don't know online but the sweatshirt came clean and neatly wrapped, just a few days after I ordered it. Thanks Quest!

Rory helped us with hiking shoes. He was very knowledgeable about the impressive selection they offered. I was told about this local owned shop and worried they would have nothing but it is a pretty good size outdoor store. 10/10 would recommend. As we checked out the cashier let us know about some hiking spots and gave us a couple pamphlets on the area and one on volunteer opportunities. Very impressed with the entire shopping experience!

I can honestly say this is my favorite Outdoor store in Kentucky, I now drive over an hour from Lexington to visit this store. After going to multiple stores trying to find my partner a pack for backpacking we ended up here on Saturday. An older gentleman named Del helped my partner for over an hour trying on packs. He was beyond courteous and patient, more importantly he was very clearly an expert. If you are looking for the quintessential outdoor store experience Quest Outdoors is a great place.

Purchased a Kavu sling about 6 months ago and the stitching was coming undone. Went into the store today and they replaced the bag, no questions asked. I even offered to contact the supplier, but they made it right. I now have a new bag. Would highly recommend Quest!!

Quest only had one small rack of Arc'teryx jackets. The website claimed they had my size in stock and the next day, I went to try it on. The Atom LT in large fits me more perfect than any jacket I've ever worn. I'm sure glad they had one on the rack!

Great store for top of line gear, but keep in mind it's for top of the line stuff so you won't find many "affordable" items. The stuff you'll buy here you'll buy once and use forever so do your research before buying your gear and you'll be a happy camper! Cool coffee shop and used gear options too!

Very pleased each time making a purchase, here. Within the last month I bought a Thule car box for the roof of our SUV. The managers and staff were incredibly helpful when we picked it out and lent suggestions and their opinion on the model and size. They understood what we were looking for and were patient while we took a little time to decide on which to invest in. They promptly helped us to install it on our roof, gave some helpful hints for use, and we were on our way. Very happy with the end result and took the car box with us for a road trip of 20+ hours of driving. Definitely a level of customer service you do not receive buying from Amazon or other big box stores. Thanks, guys!

Large selection of all major brands in trekking apparel. The employees we spoke with were professional, knowledgeable, and eager to provide assistance. The layout of the store is multi tiered with different departments on each level. There is a coffee shop on the bottom tier. I would venture to say that the store carries nearly every trekking and camping item you could ever want or need.

I was frustrated when I moved to Louisville a few years back... only one outdoor outfitter store? But then I visited for the first time. Wow! Great selection in everything from rock climbing gear to personal watercraft to backpacks and gear to jackets and clothing. And now they have coffee too! Epic. The new location is so much bigger. The staff is always courteous and glad to help. The prices are competitive, about what you'd pay online or at REI or another such place. And now they have a rewards program too. Overall a great place to shop and my first stop for anything outdoors!!!

Honestly, it's the only true outdoorsy shop in our area. That certainly doesn't mean it's bad, though. Far from it, in fact, as they seem bent on sharing their passion for the outdoors with everyone who walks in their door. Complete with a coffee shop in the lower level (who make a mean campfire coffee with liquid smoke) Quest really does seem to offer something for everyone in nearly every sector of the outdoors. From hiking to kayaking, bouldering to fishing, trail running to camping, Quest has it all. And what they don't have, the folks who work there have heard all about, can tell you about, and can probably order it for you. Genuinely nice and supportive, never pushy or "salesy," they are always a great bet for some solid advice on the best pair of shoes for your ultra marathon, or when the next group is leaving for a summit of Rainier. And unlike most places that make you feel bad for bringing your kiddo in tow, they all seem to love my little guy and smile and wave at him. Sure it's small change stuff, but that's the stuff I'm looking for if I'm going to trust you on your recommendation on pricey shoes or a couple thousand dollar summit. A genuinely place with genuine people. (Though I would love to have a location on my side of the river...)

Just dropped in for a length of rope for a dog leash, but highly impressed at the huge array of top notch gear and could have browsed for hours despite having almost every piece of gear I'll ever need. Having worked at similar (but smaller) store 30 years ago, I'm nitpicky & absolutely hate the poor service and ignorant employees at big box "outfitters"/sporting goods stores. Immediately upon entering I could tell that Quest is different - (4 different folks asked if I needed help in one short visit and the young man who helped me actually knew what he was doing and cared. I look forward to killing some time and buying a few toys here when I visit again soon.

Great friendly staff. I love it here. I could spend all day just walking around in here. Super helpful staff that don't male you feel pressured or rushed. Great coffee area downstairs. They also have a discount area where they buy back used backpacks and sell used equipment. It's a great place and great location. Prices aren't bad compared to other places. You could probably find some stuff cheaper if you looked around a bit. But sometimes I just say screw it and support a great place like this because I want them around. I love Quest! First off: The Base Camp Coffee, Drake is on point. Delicious drinks from a cool dude. They also have a used and marked down section that I highly recommend. The rest of the store is full of knowledgeable staff that wants to help.

If it is outdoors related Quest will have it. Their selection is outstanding and you can expect to find just about anything you would need whether it be for camping hiking boating fishing etc. The sales folks are knowledgeable and eager and willing to help you with any questions you may have. The prices are in most cases a little more than you would spend on Amazon but comparable to higher quality venues where SERVICE is number one! I happened to take my dog in with me one day, and one of the sales people by the name of Mike even had dog bones in his pocket ready to give to any of the canine members that accompanied the adults. So take your dog they like them too.

They put on a lot of cool events, lectures, demos, etc. The one complaint is that their prices can be a little high (most things are priced at MSRP), but if you look for sales you can get a good deal.

I was one of the QO posterboys 20 years ago. I did much work in AK, however, did substantial international work as well. These folks were kind and took amazingly good care of us, as we were putting up first time routes, and drinking dead man's gin. Our catered slideshows were legendary. Thanks to the Godfather Don, and We also love and appreciate the great and indomitable Ryan. He is a super-good guy, with a fantastic retail space. I still love Quest, I made my first purchase in 1989. The business model changes with econ. The knowledge and sterling service adapts, yet doesn't change much. The core group here is golden. Very nice place for high end outdoors. I backpack and the things here are very high end, ultra light weight and massive expensive. You can save 90% on price if your willing to pack more weight but some people that have the money would love it here. Blows my mind that the lowest price down jacket I found was 360$

A Louisville institution that's been seeing for as long as I can remember. Got my first ski parka there. My first SmartWool socks there. My first decent set of base layers there (capilene). Stopped in for s simple item the other day and was reminded how friendly everyone is and that it has always been there one true outdoor store in Louisville (my item was 20% off or something too, which was nice). Kinda sad memories of the book store but Quest still looks great and has quality gear. Shop local!

I love going to Quest outdoors. Todays visit was to get bingee cord to replace worn out ones on my Boy Scout Troops tents. Also picked up some seam sealer to reseal the seams. Quest has a great selection of outdoor gear, clothing, and even food.

Can be quite a bit more expensive than buying online, but sometimes buying local is worth it. Their clearance section is always worth a look. Plus, they have a nice coffee shop downstairs. The worst part about trying to come here is dealing with Shelbyville Road traffic and then finding parking.

Quest Outdoors is an awesome place for outdoor gear! They have a wide variety of hiking shoes: Salewa, Salomon, Merrell, and much more. The associates were all kind and willing to help. When my father-in-law were there, we had tons of questions, but the associates seemed more than happy to help. They also had a great selection of Kühl pants, Prana pants, and many other brands and tops and bottoms. I wish I had a Question Outdoors in my town!

Quest has EVERYTHING for the outdoors. From gear, to nice looking clothing, Quest has it all. Four of us purchased boots at Quest, prior to walking 250 miles last year, on the Camino De Santiago, in Portugal and Spain. None of us experienced any blisters, which normally are a common problem on the Camino.

Below is my original review. Mr. King the owner did contact me very quickly and fixed any issue I had. He only required me to come into the store to exchange or return. Scott sent word of apology. I left converted to a very happy customer. While there, Bobby talked me right into more of the Smart Wool socks. He was also apologetic and very knowledgeable about their products. I will be back to Quest Outdoors..... SOON. A much more personal experience then any of the larger chain outdoor stores Mr. King is a "Stand-up" business owner. Thanks. ///////// (1 star) My first experience and last with Quest Outdoors was at the St. Mathews location. I purchased after dealing with a great sales person a $150.00 pair of Treksta water proof hiking shoes. The shoe Failed to be water proof as promised. Upon returning to the store, Scott a "manager" chose to make me a very unhappy customer. He let me know that to complete the return the shoe needed to be in like new condition. Scott how could a hiking boot that failed to be waterproof while on my foot be in like new condition? To make matters worse he was aggressive and rude in delivering the news to me, a customer in his mind I would imagine is always wrong. I rate my experience a One because of Scott the only bad employee I came in contact with out of 4 and taking in consideration their evidently very flawed return policy. Would Bass Pro or Cabela's treat me like this? Never have!!
