Reviews of Banya 5
Chrissie
Banya 5 is very much a Russian style Banya where the environment is upbeat and social. I love the concept of it and think it’s wonderful that Seattle has a place for folks to go unwind and socialize that’s not centered around alcohol.
That said, I came here on a day I was particularly depleted, and unaware of the more upbeat nature and all the accompanying sound, I had a mini meltdown. I broke into tears as I so desperately needed a quiet place to chill and found myself committed to services worth a fair amount fearing I’d just have to bail. I got some earplugs from the front desk, but sadly, they didn’t do much to drown out all the noise.
However, when I opted to leave, the front desk staff was immensely professional. The manager refunded my spa entry, which I thought was quite generous since I still generated laundry to clean/flip flops to sanitize.
I opted to keep the 90-minute massage I’d booked, so I got dressed and went down to Denny Park for some relative quiet. (FWIW, children were playing, screaming, and laughing and it was quieter than it was inside Banya - I say this only to drive home that if you are sound-sensitive or looking for a quiet place to unwind, this may not be the place for you!) I returned for my massage and the manager was friendly and professional and stated she’d already checked me in so I could head on up.
Andi worked some serious magic and while there were some thuds and slams and the bass of voices carrying through walls, I still felt relaxed which is really nothing short of a miracle!
On the way out, the professionalism continued and I was immensely grateful that it was treated like no big deal.
This is a wonderful place to come if you are more extroverted or prefer more invigorating and/or social ways of unwinding. It’s clean, aesthetically pleasing and well set up for this. While it’s not the place for me, I can still honestly recommend it highly!

I was given a service and 2 hour pool/sauna as a gift. And what a special gift. Banya 5 staff is professional and courtesy, helped explain the process and answered all our questions. I highly recommend seeking out Spenser. What an awesome message therapist. 24 hours after the visit I still feel like a million bucks.

I’ve been to Banya 5 twice - once in 2017 and once a couple weeks ago. It was a solid experience both times - I love the different temp baths and sauna - but the price you pay is really high for what you get. It was pretty crowded when we went (admittedly on a Sunday) which means you end up waiting to get into specific baths.
Enjoy and recommend for a special event , but again, pricey for the experience.

One of the best. A well designed and complete hydrotherapy circuit with a clean, pleasant environment. I do think it slants a little loud, because the spaces are close together and the hard floors/walls echo, so keep that in mind depending on why you're visiting.
Carlos Jauregui
Nice spa with fun options to use for relaxation and recovery. Sauna, steam, cool plunge, hot tub and tepid pool were great to rotate thru. The hot tub was a lil small and my locker was a pain to lock and unlock, otherwise, great time.
Nate T
It's fairly small but the dry sauna and steam room are top notch. The hot tub could be hotter and larger. The cold tub is lovely and frigid.

Best spent money in Seattle! You need only your own swimsuit, everything else is provided. Sauna is beautifly toasty, steam room smells fresh with eucalyptus, cold and regular shover in common space. Tea room with chai to relax /which I brought book to read/. Plenty of parking on the street, I did get spot in their parking lot. Staff people are calm and kind.
Robert Christopher
Overall just ok. The space was much smaller than I expected - the 5 different baths / rooms are in one large communal area, so it felt somewhat crowded with people shuffling around each other to get to their next spot. The locker rooms were super small as well with really no room to manuever if there are more than a few people in there.
It wasn't quiet at all, there was a lot of chit chat and talking fairly loudly by both the staff and guests. It had more of a country club vibe than a peaceful getaway vibe. I wish there were some sort of quiet hours or low noise policy - if there was it wasn't enforced.
When I was there, the steam room broke down for about 45 minutes. It was the main reason I went so I was a little upset. I waited patiently for it to get fixed, then when I was checking out I was threatened by the girl at the front desk for leaving outside of my designated time, and told "do not do that again". Her tone was really unfortunate since I had spent that time (close to 45 min) quietly drinking water waiting for the steam room to be repaired.
Banya 5 wins locally due to lack of competetion. I think a more refined experience, with a more open floorplan, and a few other key ingredients could really crush it in the downtown/SLU market.
Xavier Cojulun
The facilities here are good and the idea of having the heat, steam, cold, etc all in one is super convenient however the prices there can be a little high and they will pack the facility leaving you waiting for spots to open up because the hot tub/steam room are quite small. Still a very clean and modern facility however.

My fiancé and I went here on 1/4. At checkout at 2:45, the man at the desk was polite at first but was irritated when I told him that I thought everything was paid for since my fiancé is the one who booked the reservation. He said that they don’t normally use one person’s card for another reservation? If that’s the case, how do you book a reservation for someone else? My fiancé was also right there and easily verified he was the card holder. It was very strange. Maybe he booked it incorrectly but it shouldn’t be that difficult to book a spa day with your partner.
Catherine Khesin
I love Banya5 :) they have all the amenities you could ask for and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I appreciate them working with me when I got confused about my reservation. Clean and up kept facility.
Elena Wisecarver
Amazing. This place is simple yet rejuvenating. It’s a smallish space but generally doesn’t feel too packed with people.
Prepare for extreme hot, extreme cold, and extreme steam. This place is no joke haha
My favorite touch is the eucalyptus in the steam room.
Leslie Goeres
We had a reservation for four people today at 5:00pm. We had called ahead and confirmed the age restrictions when making the reservation. We also confirmed the requirements on your website. We arrived today for my sons 17th birthday, and we’re told that your insurance requirements changed, and no one under 18 is allowed in the facility.
We didn’t receive any sort of advanced call and his entire birthday was planned around this event. Your manager was unapologetic and I have literally never been so disgusted by the lack of compassion for this issue caused by your staffs lack of communication. Your establishment has ruined his entire birthday celebration.
They then proceeded to text us, and charge us a $30 cancelation fee after turning us away.
An update: the owner Michelle reached out and sincere apologized for the situation. She was kind in her response and really tried to correct the situation. The review has been changed from 1 star to 4.
William Henderson-Drager
Wonderful community and excellent facility that is always immaculately clean. Hands down the best sauna in the United States.
Jessalyn Betsch
I visited Banya 5 today for the first time. It was so relaxing and feels great after being sore from skiing. I will be back again!
John Griffin
Great facilities, but unfortunately limited to a very short 2 hour window for a very high entrance fee.
Troy Reppas
Our first time attending and the kindness of not only the staff but the other patrons was just amazing and so welcoming. Would recommend visiting.
Ben Resnick
Love the hydrotherapy and atmosphere, feels great during and after!
I especially recommend the cold plunge, it's great for wellness!
Emily Kirby
In theory this place is awesome. I knocked off two stars because it really did not feel that clean. The steam room smelled like sweat and the bottom of the hot tub was like kinda green. It took away from the relaxation unfortunately
Jamie Lott
We came for the 2 hour spa pass. From the time I called for the appointment, through the entire experience I have never met nice people. The sauna, steam room, cold plunge, salt pool and hot tub were fabulous. What an incredible experience! I will definitely be back for more services.
Dennis Lichtchouk
Amazing sauna , cold tub, steam room. And complimentary tea. 5 stars!! Clean and nice service.
Amy Lee
Absolutely amazing! I was impressed at how clean it was and all the different pool temperature options (wet sauna, dry sauna, salt pool, hot tub, cold pot). The cold dunk is super fun! There is tea and messages upstairs that are perfect after an hour soaking.
Yilin Lee
Did a overnight stay in Seattle and tried the scrub, it was heavenly!!! I loved the 90min honey oil message, scrub, scalp message, hair wash and conditioning. We booked it sort of last minute so only go to enjoy the soaking pools for 20mins, even so it was still worth it and they did give us a discount on the soaking fees.
The soaking area/pools were much smaller than I thought and the sauna was soo hot that I nearly burned my feet walking on the wood floor. The receptionist DID warn me about it but I was still shocked by how hot it was.
Charelz J
Great massage, exquisite facilities, I came out of there feeling like a new man.
E (ValiantVicuña)
Clean, friendly, beautiful. Ultimate spa treatment, and every massage therapist I've had has been wonderful, kind, and communicative during the whole process. Love this place, will always come back!
AV Goodsell
Overall, wonderful place for a long soak and even better spa services. I'm only giving 4 stars since $40 is a steep admittance just for the pools and sauna. In addition, the place isn't very big.
Pros:
-Very clean, modern space
-Attentive staff once you get in the pool area
-Well kept space and very clean, with attendants clearing out towels and washing the space
-The spa packages are worth it! Plus no need to pay extra admittance fee
-They have a nice and quiet tea lounge and yoga/nap area upstairs
- They provide pretty much what you need - robe, sandals, locker + key, plus two towels
Cons:
-Extremely busy on weekends and can be loud
-Pools are crowded then...pretty tiny for that many people. If you are looking to relax without being in the middle of someone's conversation, go another evening
-Again $40 seems pretty high admittance. I think it would be more reasonable at $30-$35
Like I mentioned above, go for the spa services and on a weeknight!
Alyx Terrell
An absolute dream- if you are in need of taking time for yourself to simple go within and care for your body at the same time, I couldn’t imagine a place better for this than Banya 5.
Reecha
Intensity max if you enjoy it. Sauna, the steam room and the cold bath have extreme temperatures. If that’s you this is the place. I love spending 2-3 hours with the spa services and relaxing lounges.
Ben Morton
Fun place to relax, while waiting for one of their many treatments. If you haven't been, it's a perfect place to surprise your love one for date night. I go at least once a quarter, but use the sauna almost daily at my gym. Many health benefits to cold and hot on the body.
Megan Sorel
Best massages my boyfriend and I ever had. The steam rooms and dry sauna were great and the place is very similar to an onsen. The staff was incredibly professional, especially for my boyfriend who needed accessibility help with his service animal. Wish I lived in Seattle just for this place.
Kashley Toledo
Not my first time to Banya5, but my first time combining a soak and service. It was beyond amazing and exceeded expectations.
I was hesitant to continue with my booking when they introduced mandatory masking this week (doesn’t that sound uncomfortable wearing a soggy mask in a steam room??). Well, I am here to tell you that it was totally fine. We live in odd times and self care is mandatory. Don’t let the mask policy deter you from this experience. It was almost unnoticeable; it completely fades to the back of your mind once your body relaxes in all five spa experiences.
I received a scrub from Joe and it blew my mind. So sensory. So relaxing. Be prepared for minimal draping. It was such a different experience than a massage that I can barely describe how amazing it was.
All around a great spa day. Just do it. :)
Rose Walden
This place was great. It's the only Turkish bath I've been to so I can't compare it to anything but the sauna, steam room, polar plunge, hot tub and float tub were all great. So we're the service and the drinks. :) highly recommend.
Kathy Solomon (Seniors on the go.)
Three small tubs for 2-3 people (cold, warm and warmer), and 3 large shower heads in an open room. Very hot steam and dry saunas, but too intimate for a post CoVID experience. There was no ambience, it felt like a coed locker room.
Laura
I absolutely love Banya 5 - one of the best spas I've ever been too. I highly recommend doing "the loop" steam sauna - dry sauna - cold plunge - warm pool (and repeat). This makes my body feel unbelievable good!
The spa is clean, the staff are friendly, there is tea and a nap room.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is due to noise. Unfortunately this is not a quiet relaxing type of place. A lot of regulars and groups that I have run across here talk LOUDLY. Not even trying to be respectful of folks who maybe don't want to listen to their conversation. I do appreciate that the environment is friendly and I wouldn't want it to become like a stuffy library. But perhaps there could be a "quiet night" where no talking is enforced. Banya 5 - if you can improve this, you'll get 5 stars from me!
John DeLacy
This is my favorite spa on the planet. I’ve been coming for years now. The $60 2-hour experience is the best bang for your buck and will cure anything that ails you. Banya is so clean and nice, as well. Their sauna, which I affectionately refer to as The Oven, is so, so hot— it’s fantastic. Follow that up with a plunge in the ice cold pool, then the lukewarm saltwater pool and you’re on Cloud 9, my friends. Can’t recommend this place enough. I’ve since moved from Seattle, but whenever I’m back in town, I always try to book a session.
Ritika Ravichandra
It was really crowded and made it a bit unsafe especially since masks weren’t enforced. In addition, it also just wasn’t as relaxing as could’ve been. It was a nice concept and scents, for that I give it 3 stars, but for the price, I would expect lesser crowd and better cleanliness.
Jesse Hart
It's almost like the spas in Europe (with really the only difference being no bathing suits needed in Europe). The sauna is the hottest I've found anywhere in the States. The steam room is really nice. The only thing I would add is another hot tub. I love this place!
Pauls Pujats
The price: $66 with tax just to get in the facility and use the sauna, different pools and rest area.
The Booking: They have only booking reservations available, and it's trouble if you have different card than visa or Mastercard. I like that it's limited, but man if I'd had to go through the trouble of simply booking it's a frustrating experience.
Solution - Simply making booking available online would make it much easier than on the phone, with globally accepted payments.
The service: the reception was good, with uplifting enthusiasm. But when I was in the sauna there was a women with black hair and smaller body built who had an arrogant attitude. I come to relax end enjoy myself, not going back and forward because I have to check my phone in case of emergency, I have my personal reasons, which I don't want to go in to, but the women had forgotten she is employed to make a good experience not nagging and annoying attitude that Ruined my day.
OWNERS - fix the attitude of your employee
The Sauna, pools and rest area: They we're great, good quality and the music was nice and relaxing, it's hard to find good quality place.
Things to work on: the price for a sauna, employee attitude check and reminder this is an experience, if it's bad the customers will share that with their followers, friends and family.
Monica Marchetti
Meh, it's ok. Was pretty loud and not very many options. The sauna is unbearably hot (reception said around 200 degrees, your standard hot yoga class being 114). The "movement room" was in a wide hallway so you had people walking back and forth. Tiney locker rooms that are more akin to a gym than a spa.
If you're going mainly for a massage it would be fine but if you're going to soak and relax don't waste the $60 admission fee.
David French
Rejuvenating, clean, and friendly staff. Prices have increased slightly with covid restrictions and wearing a mask in the steam room is less than ideal, but the experience is still worth it. Make reservations well in advance for weekend days.
Alex Beliy
Really nice place. There have been some changes since covid that are limiting but overall still a great experience with great staff.
Grace Gravestock
Enjoyed connecting with some great people, enjoyed a relaxing massage and especially the multiple saunas, salt water and cold plunge.
E Shively
The best spa in Seattle, the facility and employees are always exceptional. My favorite parilka, always gloriously hot, 240°+ Whether you need to relax from the week or increase your productivity Banya5 doesn't disappoint.
Kiki Cooley Lund
Seriously love this place and wish I could go every day! Parking can be tricky on weekdays due to being in SLU, make sure to leave time to park and walk.
Facility is clean and they are taking mask guidelines seriously which is reassuring!
Today I was able to get on the schedule for a quick 30-min massage and I’m SO glad! They will write on a whiteboard any available appointments and I was able to sign up right there from the spa. Kelsey, the massage therapist, was professional, knowledgeable and willing to share stretching and strengthening tips for me to continued work on! Will for sure be booking with them again soon!
G W
Great little coed spot with 240 degree sauna and 45 degree cold plunge.
Tommy Bickham
While traveling in Seattle recently my wife and I did the "spa day" and had massages at Banya5. My therapist was Kelsea F. and she was outstanding. She is very experienced; she knows how to treat the whole problem as opposed to one specific pain area and I could tell she really cared about helping me with my back pain. My back felt much better after seeing her and she even wrote down the type of therapist I needed to find in Houston (where we reside). I have had probably 100 massages during my life and this was literally the best massage I have ever experienced. My only "complaint" is that Banya5 does not have a location in Houston. If they did, I would have a set appointment at least once per week. Aside from the massage the location was extremely clean; staff was very professional and the set-up of the steam rooms, etc. is conducive to using the entire facility. Can't say enough good things about Kelsea and Banya5.
Raphael Puletz
The staff are all so cool and helpful. Felt welcome from the 1st step in the building. The pools are clean and maintained so well. I thoroughly enjoyed the eucalyptus steam room and then their cold plunge pool. It was really nice to have a room temperature salt pool to help get back to baseline after the cold pool. The lounge area upstairs was delightful and relaxing with tasty herbal tea and fruit infused water offered as amenities.
Julia Moss
Good experience. More exspensive than other bath houses I've been to with smaller facilities but apropriate for downtown Seattle. I was glad to get free parking in the back and we didn't have to wait or make reservations to enter. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and happy. I loved both the steam room and the dry sauna. Pools are small but good temperature and loved the cold pool. Make sure to try the tea and add a spoonful of their delicious jam. Can't wait to go back for a scrub.
Joey Hawkins
Pure magic. You will feel like a while new human after your time here.
Veronika
It's been a long time since we have been here and we probably we're luckier previous times but tonight the public here was pretty talkative. Several people were talking loud in sauna and steam room, which made it harder to relax. The steam room now seems to be just a steam room with no eucalyptus. And the warm pool foam was a bit dirty (from people's sweet I suppose). We don't know if our bar has risen after being to other spas but tonight I didn't feel comfortable.
thai karl
Wonderful place. Super hit sauna, three levels of seating so you can sit where your comfortable. Nice steam room. Small hot tub, salt bath and cold bath (I never go for that one.) Modern tile and soft lighting. Staff are always pleasant. They have massage and other treatments, but way above my pay grade. You might have to over hear discussions about people’s tech business, but the clientele are generally friendly. Beats going to the fitness club. If you can afford it, go for it.
Mark Wilber (LoudMusic)
It's very nice still. Very clean. Friendly staff. Know that you need a reservation now.
Rishi Sachdeo
Had never been to a place like this before and was really happy I came on a whim. The staff is super friendly, and beyond that even the other guests were very welcoming. It's a fun community and the members all seem to get along great. You can go and relax alone or make small talk and get to know other guests as you please, and the staff is always happy to help or answer any questions. Just using the spa area is great, but the extra services are really amazing and totally worth it. I hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time. The variety of treatments is great and the spa features are also pretty comprehensive, with a 240 degree sauna/parilka, eucalyptus steam room, hot tub, warm salt tub, and a really cold tub for after the sauna. Definitely going to get a membership here now.
Alexandra Dobson
Getting massage services during COVID times can be a little stressful. Banya 5 made me feel completely comfortable and safe. I was the only one in the building for the duration of my visit (as far as I could tell), all surfaces were clean and all the precautions taken with customers made me feel very comfortable. I have never done a full body/scrub and wash service and it was LIFE CHANGING. I worked with Megan for my massage as well and I cannot sing her praises enough. My visit this time was covered by a gift certificate and now I am looking at my budget to figure out how I can visit more regularly! Do yourself a favor and come to Banya 5, you don't know what you are missing!
Stephanie Light
I'm a believer. There are several saunas and pools, the idea is that you heat up slow and cool down fast. There's also tea service upstairs, and a variety of massage and spa treatments. I had a 50 min massage that was wonderful. The people here are typically all very friendly, very approachable and nobody is on their cell phones!! Facility is very clean with great finishes. The staff is wonderful and helpful as well.
Alexa Peden
Blown away. Chris and Isaiah were kind and helpful during checkin and checkout, and a scrub and massage from Wayne and Spencer provided some of the best bodywork I've experienced. INTENSE and beautiful spa experience with a 200+ degree sauna and a 40 degree cold plunge, and the people here really seem to have a lot of passion and respect for their work. Thank you!
Farah Ali
This place is as advertised. The eucalyptus they placed in the steam room was unique and wonderfully relaxing. While I expected the place to be small, the locker area was especially tiny and they did not provide much in terms of comfort.
Also, as advertised, this is a social spa. People will be loud (especially because the space is smaller ie. the hot tub fits about 4 comfortably and 6 if you want to know what it feels like to be a sardine). So, if you are looking for a relaxing ambiance, then this may not be your cup of tea.
Overall, if you are looking for a quick soak in the city with your friends, this place will provide you with a clean space to do so but do not expect much more in terms of comforts or ambiance.
Note: I did not receive a spa treatment.
Sandra Blue
What an incredible experience! From the moment I walked into Banya 5 & throughout my entire experience I felt safe, relaxed, & rejuvenated. My scrub & massage by Joe were among the best I've ever had. I can't wait to return.
Brian Conner
Really great spa! The facility is clean and the staff are super friendly, helpful and gave a great overview when I walked in. I was a little nervous for some reason having never been, but that disappeared immediately. My signature massage was awesome. I didn't know I had pain in some of the spots Crystal affected, but am super grateful! Thank you again - I would highly recommend to a friend! 😀

While the price is more than twice what I pay elsewhere, the great thing about Banya 5 is that the tea room allows you to take a break, have a drink, and then get back to the spa experience. So you can easily spread a stay over 3 hours. I loved the cold plunge pool, an experience that other places don't have, and it's the only all-gender spa I know of. The only thing that detracted from the experience was the steam room combined with a lack of a volume policy. That room gets REAL loud real fast due to the tile, and it's unrelaxing and clearly drove other people out of that room while I was there. I get it -- Banya 5 wants to be a social place, but it would be nice to see them put a volume policy in place for that room in specific. Other rooms are large enough (or hot enough!) that casual conversation between multiple parties is not an issue. Overall a pleasant experience, but not my first pick for tuning out. Due to price alone, doubt I'll return.
Varun Jain
Overall a great experience. I went there for a spa day with massage and a facial. Wonderful staff. Could be confusing to move around and know where to wait for your massages at first. Great areas to hang out and play games with tea and flavored water. Hot and cold pools definitely helps detoxify!
Wanda Lowery
For Seattle this spa has some unique offerings. A cold plunge pool(so good for you), salt water pool, hot tub, the best eucalyptus steam room I have ever been in & sauna. The massages are hit & miss. I understand it’s all about communication with your therapist but I was really clear and didn’t get close to what I asked for. Get there when they first open to overcrowding. The dressing rooms are the smallest I’ve ever been in and not very conducive to more than six people at a time comfortably.
Alex Tran (Schimiggy)
Kinda expensive for what you get. Luckily they have industry discounts (Weds and Thurs 6p-10p) for $30 if you're an employee in the wellness realm. I do love the cold pool and the steam room with eucalyptus. Come on your birthday and get 50% off admission. Otherwise, I highly recommend Radiant in Ballard area. Cheaper, optional full nude and coed.

I've been going to Banya 5 for many years. They remain consistent with great customer service, clean and well-maintained facilities. I initially grimaced at the cost. However after a few visits, coupled with a few services, I quickly realized this was not only great for my health, it's a great investment in myself, especially taking into account the amount of money spent on things far less helpful to my body. In its own unique way, joining Banya 5 is like joining a family. And I'm glad I did.
Tonia Miller
As visitors, we weren’t sure what to expect, but this was such a relaxing treat. I will be coming back any time I’m in Seattle.
So clean and everyone working and soaking is extremely pleasant.
Loved it!!
Biancana Brown
Lovely way to restore. Clean facilities and a warm community.

If you are familiar with Olympus Spa, this is a different but also awesome experience. The soaking tubs are smaller, the venue is more dimly lit, earthy, intimate. The Russian sauna is HOT. That was my favorite part. My scrub was nice, and the staff were all helpful.
Angela Kramer
I just wasn't that impressed with this place for the price. The sauna is nice but the pools are small and can get crowded/loud. The massage was decent but not any better than the cheaper massage I can receive from Elements. We were told when we made the appointments there would be small snacks available, but all they had was jam with nothing to put it on. They had tea to drink but it was luke warm at best. The place was clean and their sauna and steam room are bomb but $40 is too much.
Sophia Kotov
A little pricey, but you get what you pay for!
This place is a haven of tranquility in a wild world. I'm not sure which experience is my favorite - the hot tub, the wet sauna, or the dry sauna. Each of these allow me to let go, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the bliss of the moment.
I highly recommend you check out the cold plunge -- a pool of icy cold water. It's customary to go in immediately after the dry sauna. Start with just your feet and legs, but see if you can work up to a full body plunge after a few circuits. No worries if you jump out after two seconds. It really stimulates circulation and relaxes you like no other.
One more tip: wear a towel around your head in the dry sauna. This shields your head from the intense heat of the space, allowing you to stay in longer (and thus the rest of your body to benefit from the warmth).
Diva Star
First time ever at a spa and I loved it! The steam room was closed for maintenance but I bounced between the sauna, the saltwater tub and the hot tub. They have a ice bowl tub too and I did give it a go but I have nerve damage in my feet so was a bit "too much" for me. They also have 3 overhead showers that you can use to achieve the same effect as the ice bowl tub tho, if that's your thing.
All in all, 10/10 would go again.

What a great experience. Went with my wife and adult daughter and had an awesome experience. Service is top notch and even though we shared the facility with quite a few other people, it didn't feel too crowded. We did it all - cool pool, hot spa, steam room, dry sauna (very hot) and cold plunge and then cycled thru a couple of times. We also enjoyed some quite time upstairs with our books, just chillin' and hanging out rehydrating with the supplied lemon water. Locker room is a little small but ample. I felt like the place was very clean and look forward to going back.

Give yourself a few hours to enjoy this place. For first timers don’t be afraid to ask for a quick run through of the layout. If you don’t want to be ‘social’ check out the bather count online before you go. When it shows high you should be prepared to rub shoulders with other bathers in the hot tub especially. This isn’t a negative, keep in mind some people go specifically for this experience. Hottest sauna I’ve ever experienced. Walk straight out and jump into the cold plunge pool. Brrrrr. Locker rooms are clean. Few chairs upstairs to chill out mid session.
A
this place is honestly phenomenal, i went weeks ago by myself to get the feel for my wife and next time we will BOTH be going. couples will love this place. (or singles if you may). I was also a coward to go in the cold plunge because its FREEZING but I will do that next time as well haha.
Simar Preet Singh
Absolutely unique experience, it seemed a bit intimidating especially the cold water plunge. But we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to try again!
Maggie Hurtado
My Saturday night began at 7:30 and ended at 11.
I received a 90 minute deep tissue massage and it was lovely! My massage therapist was very professional and gave me a variety of tips on where to go for great food as well. She explained anything I asked her about in depth. Thank you Carrlee Porter!
Before and after the massage, I went in to the hottest sauna I've ever set foot in, (240 degrees) to the coldest pool,(44 degrees) followed by a salt pool.
Submerging my entire body in the freezing water is an experience I am so elated I did.
I was encouraged by friendly people too.
A superb bath house indeed.
Here's the little routine I learned at the bath house:
Sauna, ice bath, salt water float and REPEAT.
The steam room & hot tub were also amazing amenities!
Chris Filer
Banya 5 is a wonderful spa and experience. The members are always welcoming and friendly (as well as the staff of course) I was able to go and do some cycles from the Sauna or Steam Room, to the cold plunge pool, to the tepid Salt Water pool, then rinse off and try again... amazing experience and so good for my body and recovery.
Paul Lucas
An inner city paradise. World class facilities.
Michael Kunz
I cannot compare this place to its local competitors since I have not yet visited any other day spa in Seattle. But in my opinion a visit to Banya 5 is not worth the steep price. The interior appeared somewhat cramped, with almost no natural light and few amenities. There is a tiny hot tub fitting 5 people sitting close to one another, a rather unimposing pool containing tepid salty water, a small ice cold pool, a steam room, and a sauna with benches so small that you can hardly sit on them cross-legged. An unavoidable issue that comes with the small size is the room acoustics. Although Banya requires each patron to initial all kinds of rules, the place surpisingly does not require calm behaviour. This is unfortunate, because as soon as people start talking at full volume the whole place (inlcuding the sauna and the steam room) starts to feel like a sports bar on game day. This is definitely not ideal if you are seeking tranquility and relaxation. The only relaxing area was upstairs where the owners offer free water, tea, and reading material.
The good reviews of this place articulate that the Banya experience is not all bad, and depending on your expectations and previous spa experiences this place might still seem top-notch to you. But, to my regrets, the overall package just didn't quite do it for me.
SQC Corporation
This place is awesome!! I love the two different sauna's and my favorite part is the ice pool. Nothing feels better than a dip in the cold water after sitting in the super hot dry sauna.
Brad Jones
Very friendly and helpful staff. The facilities were pretty clean and organized. The locker room was small but worked. Felt so much better afterwards. Would recommend anyone to work this into your routine as I believe it has great health benefits.
Jessica “jnbowdoin” Bowdoin
Mixed feelings. Good experience for the price (unlimited time). However, the pools are quite small and the steam room is so thick, it's hard to breathe. Wouldn't go if bath count on their website is over 15 or 20
Ryan
Banya 5 was more than what we expected. My wife and I stopped by for our first time for her birthday yesterday evening. We were promptly greeted by Jessica. Subsequently she coached us on their modus operandi and how to go about using their facilities, which were clean, enjoyable and relatively quiet, even with the 45-or-so bodies inside.
Glad the price point seems to keep some people out as this place is already very popular which is very easy to see why. Will be back for their services and to enjoy their clean facilities.
Highly recommended.
Ambrose Sterr
A rich and heady spa, with steam and dry saunas, a cold pool, a salt pool, and a hot tub. The scrubs are great, and the spa itself is both relaxing and intense - I often feel like I've had a solid workout after a couple hours of it, but it's way more fun than the gym.
Sesha Hanson-Drury
First time at a bath house and left feeling refreshed and restored. The facility is very clean and well organized for a relaxing few hours of steam and dry heat, as well as a cold/salt/hot water. Take advantage of the Wednesday special, $30 before 2 PM!
Andreas Laeubli
Would recommend. The setup of the Spa has not changed for years, but it is still in good condition and allows good for some relaxing hours. Because they monitor the number of entrants closely there is never a crowded atmosphere wich is awesome and lets you forget about the waiting periode during the holidays.
Loomis Hamilton
I've never been more relaxed than when I leave here. The sauna is perfect, and the cold tank is miserable while being incredibly relaxing. I make it a goal to go at least monthly. With chronic insomnia, my best nights of sleep are after a trip to Banya
Emett Scabassi
At first I thought it was going to be expensive, but after my visit I am 100% satisfied with my experience and will be a returning customer.
I got an hour long massage from Carly, and it was incredibly relaxing. She did an amazing job and worked out every sore/tense spot i had from head to toe.
The staff was friendly and professional, and the facility was clean and easy to use.
Christian Richardt
I absolutely loved the cozy bathhouse atmosphere of the place. Thoroughly recommended for a deep relaxation!
Tina Truong
Unfortunately, this is the smallest bath house I’ve been to and most expensive for what is given. However, it is clean and does the job. Has about three small pools and one sauna. When I say small, it’s pretty small (especially the hot pool. It also has a lounge upstairs to rest. Overall, my experience here is neutral, more on the disappointed side. The price is pretty expensive in comparison to other bath houses.
Alexandra Gore
Okay place to unwind in Seattle. Facility is mostly clean, guests often have rather loud conversations while in the sauna and other areas which is disruptive for those trying to get some quiet time in. Facility can get quite crowded, and I feel they don't cap attendance as quickly as they should - prioritizing profit$ over experience.
Britanee Hudson
What dreams are made of. Truly my favorite place on the planet. The facility is CLEAN and comfortable. The steam room, ice bath, and salt water float are beyond compare. Make sure to check out the tea and stretch/nap room upstairs. This place is worth the price and makes for the perfect day.
David W
I went solo - I'd suggest going with someone. Everyone was very friendly, and social, but I felt a little out of place by myself. Also, bring a couple water bottles if you intend to use the sauna I lot. I brought a huge water bottle and had to refill it at a small water fountain.
40 dollars to "use the facilities". i.e. No massages or salt rubs or whatever.
Hot tub - comfortable, a little small. As I alluded to early, hopping into the crowded tub by myself into a crowd of talking people was slightly awkward.
Wet Sauna - Amazing. Tons of steam. Very comfortable. I forget the temperature - but nothing insane. I'm a novice sauna user but I enjoyed three rounds of about fifteen minutes each.
Dry Sauna - This sounded a lot hotter than the wet sauna. From the name, I assume there is no steam. I thought it might be too hot for my first time.
Cold tub - This is like the opposite of a hot tub. A tub of water that is really cold. The idea is you use a sauna to over heat, then hop into the ice cold tub.
Salt water tub - Pretty self explanatory. About room temperature - Not sure what the point is.
The showers here were amazing too. Lots of pressure. Really hot water.
All told, I don't think it was quite worth the price - but it was a pleasant experience and I left feeling quite relaxed.
Nicolette Vaas
Had a great Anniversary weekend that started here. The deep tissue massage that my fiancée scheduled for me was wonderful. The hot sauna, then ice bath plung was super invigorating! Can't wait to experience it again.
Michael Natkin
This is the cure for the winter blues in Seattle. Go warm yourself in the hot tub, sauna or steam room, and then jump in the cold pool. Repeat. You'll feel amazing. Pretty space, well run, and you can also get massages, salt scrubs etc. Bring your bathing suit.
Casey Hunt
Banya 5 spa is a great place to relax and rejuvenate! I went there with my wife and some friends a few weeks ago. We decided to go on a Wednesday night after work because they said it is not as busy as the weekend. We were all tired after a busy day at work and we all had to get up early the next day; so we thought we would go for an hour and then call it a night. The dry sauna, cold bath, and the other amenities they have there were so refreshing and rejuvenating we ended up staying there until 11:00 and then we went out to Umi for some sushi (that was great too!) and were still mentally alert by the time we made it home around 1:00. We all felt great after our time there and the feeling lasted for quite a while. I would recommend Banya 5 to anyone who wants a fun, relaxing, and refreshing experience. We are making plans to return as soon as possible.
F. Yaz
I had the best massage I’ve ever had here. So good that I had to come back the next day because we were only here on travel and I couldnt resist having more done on other problem areas. Ask for Carlee she is amazing!
Lori McDonald
Making patrons wear a mask ALL the time even after vaccination status takes away from the relaxing spa day.
Mira Smile
The general spa area is smaller than I expected based on website pictures, but it is perfectly setup! The experience you won't regret!
Suzi Pratt
If you're looking for an urban oasis to keep your mind and body healthy, look no further than Banya 5. This reasonably priced urban spa offers steam rooms and Turkish baths of varying temperatures to relax and open your senses. Price includes access to all amenities including a secure shower and locker room, as well as a quiet tea room. Extra services such as body scrubs, mud wraps, and massages are available at an additional cost.
Open late until 11pm, Banya 5 also offers a day time discount for early birds.
Blake Partridge
Nice place for relaxing w/ parilka (sauna), steam room, hot tub, tepid pool, and cold plunge. Facilities are clean and well maintained. My only issue is that it's on the smaller side (small tepid pool, single small hot tub, etc) compared to other Banyas (e.g. SF's Archimedes) and entry is a flat fee (vs hourly) so it gets very crowded easily and it kind of kills the relaxation vibe. At least they have a bather count to let you know about it.
Christopher Moye
Terrific massage and spa treatments available but the the actual steam and soak tub and wash down amenaties could use some maintenance. When i tried to use the shower next to the cold shower wash down area it wouldn't come on as well as one of the showers in the men's lockerroom. Otherwise a lovely spa day
Lauren Valdez
Great place to pamper yourself and relax! Bath house has steam and dry saunas, hot tub, ice bath and saltwater bath. There is also a lounge upstairs to relax out of the water. You can also purchase other massage and treatments for additional costs.
Kathryn Rittweger
Amazing experience. Got one of the packages with a salt scrub, massage, and the coconut Shea wrap so great for the winter. Professional staff. Very cool hydrotherapy experience.
Damon Holzer
I'm so glad I discovered this place years ago. It's definitely for the serious spritzer/spa goer, but welcomes newcomers as well. There's a community vibe that isn't often replicated in commercial establishments, which is a cool thing to find. Hottest room is usually around 240F, so they're not joking around!
Andrea Maria Roth
Coming from Europe - this is as good as a sauna can get in Seattle. I still hope that one day there will be a sauna with a nice view and direct access to the lake/sound where you can cool off after the sauna session. Seattle is surrounded by water, why is there no sauna at the water?
Cœur Atypique
Perfect. So happy. The massage and the man who made it were fabulous. He has magic hands!! (Jheff) I took a deep tissue massage o.m.g .....love it !! also everything is very clean, and the pools are nice. As a urban spa, it is perfect !! Thanks again for your kindness.
Annie O
Really clean common area, pools, locker rooms. My massage with Ty was incredible, one of the best I've ever had. Overall, impressed and highly recommended.
Alec M
This place is amazing from the steam room to the cold plunge it takes all the stress out of life. You can even take a nap in the quiet rooms! Priced for anybody and you can stay all day for no extra charge.
V Angelina
Birthday deal! Love this spot and the guest counter on their website! but wish they offered a value discount for ‘happy hour’ or a Groupon price deal but i know I know, why should they if they can charge more, they’re so popular.
Nicki Williams
The best place to relax! I will recommend to all my friends.
kate vrijmoet
This is my favorite place to relax and now that I don’t live in Seattle, I make every excuse to come back and use their facilities. Great atmosphere and a real sense of community. Go for the 50 minute honey and salt scrub.
Amit Finegold
It's a very nice place, clean and well kept. My only issue is with the jacuzzi - the stone inside the jacuzzi is very coarse. When I went in I accidentally bumped my knee into the jacuzzi step and it scratched my skin to blood :-\
V. Andrews
Favorite place to get a massage. This is also the perfect place to relax and decompress on those cold gloomy days.
Thomas Cooper
