I'm a loyal Purple Sage client, but more so, a dedicated patron of Lynda for over 15 years! Her depth of expertise in coloring is one of the many reasons I keep coming back! Not only does she work with me each time, talking through the options and her approach, she's mentoring the next generation, sharing the skills necessary to become a great stylist. I routinely get full foils, glaze and cut, along with brow wax and paraffin hand dip. The salon is clean and bright, and you never know what you'll find browsing around while you wait!

Curly cut and style by Alyssa- truly the best curly cut I’ve had. She also did a hair treatment and offered styling advice. Best curly cut and great price too. I’ve had diva cuts and ouidad cuts and this was better. She said curly hair is a passion for her and it shows! Photo with glasses is the after pic. Also got a full set of lashes done and love them! Pic is one week post application and they still look wonderful

Beautiful place that's multifaceted in all forms of healing, treatment, and relaxation. Really enjoyed the hospitality here and got to meet the woman in charge, Ms. Kim. She and her staff were very lovely and knowledgeable. My brother loved his massage there and I was blessed to be able to go into the Himalayan Salt Cave. Inside there was an experience that's hard to forget. I came out feeling really clear minded and being one with allergies, I was able to breathe so well in there. It's a must go.

I have been seeing Lynda at Purple Sage for many years. She is very knowledgeable in hair care and style for all types of hair. She is an excellent communicator and listens to what you want. She also asks for feedback to make sure you were happy with the results. The experience at the salon is relaxing and enjoyable. The small comfort touches with the footrests on the chairs, heated towels and head massages are amazing. I couldn’t recommend Lynda enough.

On Saturday March 27, 2021 I had both my first appointment with Maggie and my first hair cut in over a yr. My hair feels and looks better than it has in a very long time. She is excellent and I will definitely be coming back for another visit. I loved the heated neck holder at the wash station as well as the heated towel and the head massage. She is trained in cutting curly hair and I can honestly say my hair looked just as good the next day. I also plan on bringing my sister and granddaughters to enjoy the salt cave in the near future. Purple Sage is like the best kept secret in Essex! They have a Himalayan Salt Cave that is super relaxing as well as an Infrared Sauna which has so many health benefits as well as chasing my winter blues away! The staff and owner are always kind when I walk in the door and while I don't get my hair done there, I absolutely the little moments of bliss I get by going to this space. If you have a difficult time with the Vermont winter, I highly recommend scheduling a sauna session for yourself! It is my secret to staying sane this winter! Enjoy!

I highly recommend Lynda and her associate Maddie . I went to Lynda to have some intense color correction and she did an amazing job. In total she and Maddie did two bleach washes, a moisturizing treatment a red color melt, and a balayage to cover up a pretty messed up color job and gave me an amazing deal. I was pretty anxious after my previous experience and she really saved my hair. On top of everything else, I contacted her letting her know how damaged my hair was after everything and she gave me a complimentary moisturizing treatment the next week.

Purple Sage is probably one of the best salons I’ve been to! My hair dresser is Jess Martel, and every time she does my hair I am more than impressed! She is extremely good at what she does, she takes her time, and truly cares about her clients! She makes conversation, you can just see she loves what she does. I have been having Jess do my hair for years now, and I will never see anyone else. Purple Sage also offers other neat things that can be nice for a relaxing spa day! Their Salt Cave is the most relaxing time. Their facials are extremely relaxing and make you feel fresh after. I got married last September, and I had no idea about make up, and Jess showed me the best Bare Mineral products that look best with my skin tone. I would consider Jess a friend and not just my hairdresser!

Linda is talented and professional. She listens attentively to my concerns and answers all the questions I have before doing anything. She gets a feel for what I want and somehow she achieves the look I desire and goes above and beyond; I leave feeling like a million bucks! She is truly talented. Love the salon. And love love Linda

Prior to my move I had been going to my same stylist for 10 years.. however, I got a full foil blonde highlight done by Mathew and WOW! Took a friend for her birthday to the salt cave and pedicures afterwards. Salt cave is incredibly relaxing and calming. The two ladies who gave us our pedicures were top notch!!! Best pedicure I've ever had. The foot massage that was given was divine. The staff at Purple Sage are all friendly, helpful, courteous and fun!!! I plan on going back for sure. Can't wait to try a massage and do a makeup tutorial!

I had an excellent experience with Deborah for a custom SkinScript facial. When you walk into purple sage the salon is clean, open and airy. I love the welcoming atmosphere and the various crystals and salt lamps that add warmth to the space. The treatment room where I received my facial followed suit with the rest of the salon, it was spotless, very organized and welcoming. Deborah played relaxing spa music while I fully zen-ed out on the comfortable bed. Deborah has an excellent touch and was full of excellent tips and product recommendations for my skin. I loved the scent and feel of all of the products she used and the massage was heavenly. At the end of the facial when she showed me my skin I was blown away, it was as smooth as glass. I ended my experience at purple sage in the salt cave. I left feeling like a new woman and I can’t wait to come back!

The look and feel of the place is extremely professional from the moment you walk in the door. You would never know such a gem was hidden in Essex. Rita was wonderful, very personable, soft-spoken, kind gentle, has many years experience. She gave me a lovely haircut. I brought in a few pictures for reference, and when she was nearly done she asked if I wanted more layers, so she was willing to edit the work that she had just done, but I declined, thinking that I would be happy with her instincts. Have an idea of what you want when you go. Request her, you won't be disappointed.

Went to purple sage the other day and my gf and I did their Salt Cave Relaxation session and it was great. It was $25/each for 45 minutes and I felt incredibly relaxed after that. They don’t allow phones in the salt cave so I couldn’t get a picture but check it out on their website, it’s amazing. Floor is covered in Himalayan salt and the walls and have salt lamps all over. It’s really cool

I paid for 3 sessions. A children session for my sister and niece. The other 2 sessions was for my mother and me. Their meditation machine was not working so I had to walk my mother through meditating and breathing exercises while relaxing in the cave. The person that led us to the room did not close the door neither. It just did not meet my expectations. However, the children's scheduled time was great for my niece.

Would a great experience sitting in the salt cave with lovely music, gravity chair with blankets, and just a relaxing experience. Got a 50 minute hot stone massage with cbd oil for my girlfriend. She absolutely loved it especially the cbd add on which helped her a great deal. In her opinion the stones were not hot enough. A wide selection of great brands in regards to hair products and massage oils/creams.

The Salt Cave at Purple Sage is an experience not to miss! If you are overstressed, tired from travel or life, or just need a little you time, the cave at Purple Sage is your spot! Once we were in the salt cave, all my concerns melted away. I left feeling serene and energized. The staff were very professional, warm, and helpful. The cave is unique to VT w ionized salt dispersed into the air of the cave. Also, if you need a gift for yourself or a loved one, explore their reception area before or after your session for a product to take home.

So happy to be able to come in and detox after 3 months of working through some stressful times. I am lucky to say that I enjoyed a 1 1/2hr massage to work through some physical stress, 45 minute nap in the salt cave to clear my lungs and decompress the mind a bit. I then spent an hour in the sauna sweating out some toxins. Defiantly a great way to invest in my mind and body. Thank you for being open!
