It's an odd mix of businesses, but fun way to spend time. Don't expect any typical indoor mall type shops. The thrift store in the basement is great, but closes early. Grocery store is convenient. Ramen house is amazing and a favorite of mine. There's a library and offices inside. I've never seen the parking lot full, even during the holidays.

When I was a teenager we hung out at the Mid-City Mall. It has changed a great deal since then. But the library is there, a general Dollar is there, they have a nearly new shop and a beauty salon, theaters, and at least three restaurants. The mall was rather empty while we were there, but there's plenty to do still.

The vap shop is an insult to the jewelry store that had been there for years. Value market never has their Mall side door available to use. The family Dollar is probably one of the best in the area though because it's located inside the mall. The movie theater and Ramen House are great! Nearly New is a hidden gem! I don't use the gym, but I do like the old school gym in the basement. Place has so much potential all around.

Not too bad....this place might be shaping up. With new restaurants and stores and some of the same staples, like Baxter Ave Theaters, I am starting to think this might be a better place to go to avoid crowds of unwanteds.

We have really enjoyed going to the Baxter Theater. They have great concessions (a bar if you're interested), really comfy reclining chairs, first run movies and decent prices.

Small mall with minimal shops inside and a few tent pole stores like Valumarket or Baxter Avenue movie theater. Often populated with sketchy people.

We go to this cinema for years. Is clean, plenty of spaces to buy the tickets at the counter or on the machines. They even serve alcohol if you feel like you need a glass of wine to enjoy the movie. Clean. Comfortable chairs. We live really far away from it but we prefer it. My only complaint is that is way too cold inside. My husband is a cold nature type of guy and he's getting cold. They need to raise a bit the temperature.

I hope this mall never closes. Valu Market, the theater and the gym are all very convenient. Family Dollar is often closed when it's supposed to be open. That's the only real knock against the place. Well, and you might see a homeless person changing their clothes on the hallway, but I'm not gonna complain about that. I've never been to the comedy club, but the Back Door bar makes good drinks.

If you're up on Bardstown Road near the mid city mall please stop in value market. Value market is considered to be one of the mom-and-pop grocery stores that are left. John the manager along with all of the other co-managers are always very polite and a pleasure to talk to. When you walk in they call you by name it's hard to get that nowadays. If you do get a chance to go into value market make sure you stop in there cleaning all and look for a product called McKayla's incense it is out of this world smells wonderful. It's my understanding that it is double-dipped that's why it smells so good and it's very reasonably priced.

Met friends for coffee at the Heine Brothers Coffee located there. Large lot, lots of parking for all the businesses. Traffic light at intersect of busy street, keeps traffic flow moving & turning into mall lot safer. Located in a nice business area of the Highlands.

Went in the grocery store order me catfish sandwich I really didn't like it. also the worker clothes look dirty like they rolling in the mud but the place looks good but they need to have their employees wear some clean clothes I think twice before I shop there again PS go see for yourself

Nearly New shop is there, which is one of the best consignment shops in Louisville and has sometimes some very very great prices on designer clothing as well as other, just a huge collection of clothing and furniture and whatever. Even a pretty good selection of plus size clothing. I've gotten all of my favorite coats from there.

Value market is where I was at. Been there many times. Are you following me? Lol Nah, I'm just joking. A great bunch of people work there. And like anywhere else , if I need some help, they are right there for me. Alot of sweethearts and gentlemen with good positive attitudes. I just love em! They have a really nice and clean store. I talked to the manager about all that. Boy my good and positive attitude gets me alot of attention, I guess. I've always been that way. Believe me and usually some people don't like me for that. Shelves are stocked so well. When this epidemic happened, their store stayed stocked better than alot of them. What can I say but a great place to visit and shop. I want to say thanks to them for the attention and friendly hello' s. As soon as you enter , they start greeting you soon after they see you a time or two.

There's a creepy feel to the place. The thrift store in the basement is pretty good. They're prices have gone up, and some stuff is overpriced. The variety is what I like. And if don't mind digging a bit, you can find a real bargain! They never disappoint!

I love this space. As with McMahan Plaza, I wish all the empty real estate could be filled with space for coin-op, and/or free, laundry, & shower, & lounge, & napping space for The Homeless. Security has a big job, especially, when the women, using Jazzercize, & renting space, for their groups, want to complain about loitering. There are skilled laborers, & educated people - among The Homeless, who, if given an opportunity - not connected to an Rx, or ".orgs", benefiting from crisis, could turn things around. The grounds would be cleaner, & repaired/rebuilt, well, & sturdy enough for long term, high traffic use - if classes for young, trade-minded people, could be recruited, & kept busy enough to be productive, & proud. Thank you. 😊

Mid City Mall is always great. However, we didn't get to shop at our favorite store the Nearly New Shop because they were closed in order to get ready for their Big Spring Sale . So we'll go back then. And of course Value Market was fabulous as always.

Older urban mall with Value Market as their anchor. There is a movie theater, a gym, and a thrift store. It's really pretty rundown, but won't shine without some new tenants and new money. Great local option for neighborhood grocery shopping, but needs to try to be better. Lots of parking because there aren't enough shoppers.

It's showing its age...but so is the neighborhood. That's part of the charm of the Highlands and Mid City Mall. Sometimes staid and genteel. Sometimes shabby and freaky. MCM is home to several basic services and suppliers (e.g., grocery, library, etc.) on which the neighborhood depends...all provided with an unmistakable vibe.

Always an interesting array of shops and restaurants. Valu-Market is a local favorite with great service and an extensive beer cave plus a very good produce selection. At the other end is Baxter Avenue Theater where you can get fantastic matinee prices and you don't get as gouged on concession items as at the larger theater chains. Inside the mall is the Shelby-Highlands Branch of the library, which provides so many services. The Jewel Box had been a standard for shared with their beautiful selection and excellent service. Oh, just go to the Mall!

This is a local staple in my area of town. There's a grocery a place you can go do your taxes a doctor's office. I love the grocery that's in there they always have very fresh and delicious fruit and vegetables. Their Bakery is also a great area to visit and they have a great beer cooler and very awesome options for beer or alcoholic beverages of that sort. There's a thrift store inside downstairs along with a gym. I love the thrift store it's very Thrifty. And Baxter Avenue Theatres is attached to this building and I love that movie theater as well as the back door bar. If you live in the highlands you've probably already been to Mid City mall but if you haven't check it out and do go downstairs. Oh and there's a little local library and the Librarians in they're always willing to help I'm blind and they help me every time and they're always friendly and super helpful.

Is this considered a mall? It feels like it's just two hallways and two unique neat businesses Go checkout the clothing store downstairs for sure especially if you appreciate the 80s aesthetic. The Ramen anime place is neat too.... That's about it lol

They are working on updating it some, but it's really dated and smells kinda funny. It is really convenient though. Together the shops don't make any sense but individually the location of each is kinda perfect. Oddly enough I would probably rate each individual store as 4/5 stars just together they are strange and the parking is a nightmare.

Nothing that great, nothing that bad. Useful for people that live nearby to have a grocery store like Valu Market or Dollar General for household items. The theater is decent as well. However most of the other tenants are just "filler" and the homeless seem to love gravitating here. The Back Door bar which has been around for many years is starting to draw the same crowds as other Highlands bars these days, and that's no longer a good thing unlike 20 years ago.

We lived around the corner from mid city mall and used to walk there everyday. I love the downstairs shop called Nearly New, still go there to this day, it's one of the better consignment shops I've been to. We just love Mid-City we also used to always go to the grocery store there which had super friendly employees.

Decent options. Parking is a bit tight during the evening and on the weekend. That said, you can do some grocery shopping and catch a flick at the same place. There is a buffet that serves halal cuisine.

I like Mid City Mall. It's very well planned out. The theaters are very nice where I went the wheelchair accessibility for your parking will lit but in space inside one thing about the movie theater, like I haven't seen a lot of other movie theaters. They got reclining seat switch the alarm do but you got to realize something that everybody that comes to the movie theaters. Some people who are wheelchairs. Some people are Walkers came by the majority of people use Cana probably older but it doesn't always like that. It's their younger people that are middle-aged and the theaters are level level, so that means when you Step up from the curb. Everything else is level in this place. Level and you want to worry about walking in the theaters going down a steep hill walk in and you got to climb climb. I got a client got to climb myself blonde. Why climb? I don't know. You got it. You got a car.

I've always kind of considered this the heart of the Highlands. I don't know how many nights out I've had where I either started off or ended up at The Backdoor. I've taken my kids to the pretty decent library here. Good comedy club for laughs. Another great thing is all the parking here.

Mid - City Mall has several units that have been here forever like the Jewel Box, which has a variety of jewelry, including estate jewelry. They will fix your timepiece if it stops working, and they will put the proper movement in your watch. The Highlands-Shelby library serves patrons well, and it has a special small room dedicated to teen use. Teens can entertain with special screenings and just come and hang out. It's convenient tho the Bardstown road traffic. The Baxter Theater, related to the historic Village 8 theater, provides second run movies, but also Baxter shows artful limited run movies. Downstairs is the Nearly New Shop, a second - hand store of gently - used clothing and everyday items. Worth browsing for an opportune time. Valu Market provides your everyday groceries. This store you evaluate in terms of whether it is right to shop here or pay gas or bus fare to go to another store to pay the extra for the trip. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes not. In any case, it is available and convenient for Lower Highlands neighborhood and Deer Park neighborhood. The mall itself is a large concourse which can hold many peoplle. There are several other companies there, but what I've mentioned are those I've patronized before regularly.

I don't really go into Mid City Mall, I go to the Value Market there. I love ValueMarket vegetables. Store personnel are usually helpful. Purchased a dozen organic eggs. Four of them had gone bad by the time I cooked them (within seven days.) How had would it be for you (ValuMarket) to keep your store clean? I personally am disturbed by the dirt. Good grief.

Not a whole lot going on at midcity the value market probably the best grocery store around, nearly new shop its a good will on cocaine with nicer stuff at slightly higher prices and Baxter Ave theater rounds out the cool things at midcity. You also have some weirdo stuff too like the gym in the basement and the family dollar but the midcity mall is a staple in the highlands community

The Mid City mall is a landmark in the Highlands. It's not for someone who is looking for an outlet mall type of thing. It's for hard working people who LOVE to live the simple life and enjoy laughing and spending time with friends and family whenever possible. The Mid City mall offers the venues that provide these amenities AND it's all at an affordable price. Stop by and see it for yourself, words can't describe this type of beauty and the sense of community that comes from this place.

This place has had a nice upgrade over the years. It's a quirky one stop shop for a quick bite, groceries or entertainment. There's a library, ValuMarket, Family Dollar, a dance studio, a nail shop, a center for children with austim, Jazzercise, a thrift store downstairs, a jewelry repair store, a movie theatre and a comedy club and a couple of other places. Its great and has been a pillar of the community for many years.

Mid City Mall is a major factor in the Highlands being such a desirable neighborhood. It's a janky old place, but it sits square in the middle of everything, and supplies just enough amenities to keep the neighborhood a local Mecca for pedestrian lifestyle. This single location supplies the neighborhood with a gym, grocery store, Dollar general, public library, and an eight room Cinema. That's quite an eclectic mix for any single structure. It's also worth mentioning that this is the home of Louisville Dance Alliance, a wonderful local dance company with talented instructors. Don't be surprised if while traversing mall's concourse, you hear '80s rock and new-wave music coming from the overhead speakers.

Great parking for the area. I like the face lift. I just wish they had some better shops. It's mostly second hand shops the public library a dollar store and a really nice value market that has unique stock to cater to the hipster market for this area. The comedy caravan and back door are also great. The baxter avenue theater has great indie selections you won't find at a lot of other theaters. But instead of misc office space I wish there was a GameStop/FYE/Spencer's/Hot Topic or more modern retail stores. This whole road is awash with second hand stores. It needs some retail chain staples.

I've been frequenting this mall since my childhood. They have a quality grocery store and a nice movie house that show the latest films. Plenty of free parking, wheelchair accessible. A restaurant and medical offices are also there.

I feel like if they were more selective with who they let rent there. The demographics of the people who go there is so diverse that they have a hard time getting people to spend more money. For example if they focused on having entertainment type renters could make it a go to place in louisville. They already have a movie theater, a comedy club, and some local shopping but i think the family dollar lowers the class and the doctors office throws me off.

Value Mart has great produce and sushi, but the prices are higher than other grocery stores in the area. I don't drink alcohol but I hear they have an excellent selection of microbrews in the walk-in cooler.

The music that plays in the mall is repetitive and pretty annoying, they only change it up when Christmas comes around. A long time ago, say about 2014, they used to have tables and chairs, and the homeless people ruined it by panhandling and everything else. Before the music changed to Christmas, I always had to listen to my own. If it's a modern place, why not just have music that other malls play all the time? Homeless people always try to hit me up inside and out.

A Highlands landmark, where we once rollerskated the night away as teens at Champs and now that we're older, we reminisce with friends over a beverage at the Back Door. Where shopping for clothing and such at Zayres was the norm and our parents bought groceries at Winn-Dixie now their children (and some children's, children) now grocery shop at a Value Market. Where we go for laughs at Comedy Caravan or to thrift shop at Nearly New...This is a Highlands landmark, one that evolves with the times and offers so much more...

Always clean and well cared for. Original indoor Mall in Louisville so it has some age behind it but still in great shape. Has a Norton doctors office, public library branch, gym bar, restaurants, and grocery.

Not the best mall, but a great doctor and dentist have offices there. And of course The Back door lounge is located on the back corner of the building. I have not been able to go to the theater there yet (baxter Avenue theater filmworks) but I am planning on going very soon to see the new Thor movie 🎦. The Nearly New Shop and A basic gym are located in the basement level.

Only in the islands would you find such a variety of businesses all Under One Roof. You got Value mart that has a few values but most of the steps a little bit pricey for a grocery store. You got the threat Nearly New thrift shop or you can buy you stuff at a really good Thrifty price. The Comedy Caravan have a few drinks get a few laughs. Baxter Avenue theaters are still probably the closest thing to an art movie house in Louisville though they they show the Blockbusters there too. And then there's the back door if you want a big old plate of nachos this is a place to go shoot some pool drink some booze eat some nachos or wings.

You will almost always see that familiar face in a place that you will always go back to. From fresh vegetables and Value Market to having your nails done or even the dollar store you always know where you're at in Mid City Mall.

The development of the location has more to be desired, as the library and shops within the mall are outdated. The ValueMart has an excellent selection of food, however, it would be nice if the other developments caught up to the pace.

My opinions of Mid City Mall or rather neutral because Mid City Mall doesn't really have much in the way of things that are useful outside of value market which is an excellent grocery. The second hand store in the basement of the mall seems to have forgotten that it is a second hand store because they are trying to charge for a retail pricing for their merchandise.

The library here--Highlands/Shelby Park--is my first & long-time go-to. The librarians include Ruth, my favorite of all time. There's a YA/Middle room as well, beautifully done, a safe space for older kids with lots of tech and a young, tech-hip librarian who is also on-page with many of the manga, comic novels, & other emerging media. I miss some of the businesses that have moved on, but appreciate the diversity now, especially the medical clinic. Mention MUST be made of the Nearly New shop downstairs across from Jim's Gym. NN is a fountain of wonders for those looking for a bargain. Speaking of bargains, Valu Market is a needed alternative to Kroger when you're squeezing your dimes & stretching the dollars. The meat sales are the principal ways you'll save money, but VM's meat aisle is a paradise compared to ANY OTHER MARKET in town--including Kroger, TJ's, Lucky's, and ESPECIALLY Whole Foods. The Amish-raised chicken alone is worth a special trip. At the other end of the pedway, our world in da 'Ville would not be right without Baxter Avenue Theaters. The numerous matinees, the vast tubs of buttery corn, the comfy seats, the occasional showings of breakout films (like "Moonlight," with discussion afterward)... I don't know about youze guyz, but I try to go there first. Mid City has its share of odd little fast-food come and goes, none of which I bother with. It's got a tiny, stalwart jewelry store, which I've never had cause to enter. It's got jazzercise and kid dance classes and related activities, and there may still be a very good autism school there. It's a special place. Here was located a Winn-Dixie. People have driven their cars into it. I saw "Black Panther" here. Mid City Mall is an institution, dudes, and don't you forget it.

Mid-City Mall...it is what it is, the library is nice even though I find it extremely depressing that they merged two perfectly lovely dedicated historic libraries and sold the property, then relocated the combined branches in a decrepit struggling yet unique old mall. The movie theater is ok, it used to be better but it is proximate to The Back Door which is handy for drinks. ValuMarket is putting up a valiant effort and Nearly New is still there I think. It's a fugly little place, it has been the past 40 years, probably longer.
