I highly recommend Kawaii Nail Bar at the Midtown Mall. I took my handicapped Mother here last week, and the ladies (especially Jennifer) were extremely kind to her. We couldn't have been more pleased at the treatment she received from their caring staff. Great mani-pedi, also!

The Midtown Mall has had a serious overhaul in recent years and has so much to offer. After losing Sears to downsizing and the grocery store as well, the mall quieted quite a bit. But then Nordstrom Rack, Steamdot, Burger-Fi and other niche shops started to fill in empty storefront. When REI and Carr’s Safeway announced projects, it was clear this was a long time commercial area that was going to overcome issues and revitalize itself. An REI like this should not be allowed to exist though...it is so enormous and engaging that it can easily make you forget there are other things to do in life beyond looking at sleeping bags for temperature ratings. With our downtown Nordstrom closed, Nordstrom Rack has become one of the stand out stores for clothes shopping in Anchorage. The deals are great. All of the shops are excellent and worth visiting. While the food court has closed due to COVID, everything else is open. They have also become an early voting location during this election cycle. Can’t think of a better place to wait in line.

Whomever was working this day pulled an awesome shot for my usual doppio. People were doing their normal coffee shop things consisting of Mac books, writing, reading etc It was a nice experiance overall.

Located on the corner of Benson and Denali. Now housing REI, new and expanded. Old Sears Mall location--A staple in Anchorage Alaska since I can remember. It is still the same building just without Sears. It's has many of the same shops and the layout is pretty much the same. I like it because it's not so crowded and it has much of what you need, including food court, phone services, restaurants, coffee shops, REI, haircuts shoes etc.

What's good is that this is a simple, clean, attractive mall in a decent central location. It is definitely surviving on the popularity of just a handful of stores. What's bad is that there are still a number of vacancies that give off negative vibes. The dead food court is really sad (assuming the 2020 pandemic killed it). This mall could be great... I hope things take a positive turn.

Anchored by REI, Steam Dot coffee, and Burger Fi, this is mall is primarily locally owned businesses and a farmers market. The food court is closed, so there’s limited dining options. There’s a Guitar Center and Nordstrom Rack adjacent to the mall that you can *sort of* get to through the Mall.

Wow the Midtown Mall has changed considerably in the year or more that I have been absent from there REI has taken over the old Cars store and they did a great job. I love the new look. The rest of the mall is getting an update and it looks Great. Looks like Cars store is going back in where part of the old Sears store was. Looks like construction will continue for the next few months. Might all be done buy Mid 19 but unsure about that. There are some great stores there now. Men's clothing, nail shop, a great coffeehouse, great fast food and juice bar. With others as well.

It's been many years since I have been to the midtown "Sears" mall. It has greatly improved in looks and the new Carrs is really nice. REI is a great store. It still has a few empty spaces in the building but it's pretty nice over all.

While this is not a mall I go to just to wander around, it does have some shops/restaurants that I like to go to on occasion (such as SteamDot coffee). It sounds like there are a lot of changes in store at this time, and I am eager to see how these will change the overall vibe of this space. I love the indoor farmers market a couple of times a week. Not only is it open during the winter, but it also encourages me to go look around the mall, which I probably would not do otherwise.

Visited Carrs/Safeway and the didn't have what I wanted but they gave me the smaller size product for the cheaper large size price which was on sale. The large size of 2 liters was on sale for .91 Cents while the 1 liter size was $1 each. But they gave me 6 1 liter size bottles for $2.37. I was happy with that substitution. If they had not done the substitution I would have given them only one star.

I'm glad they are revamping this mall. I seriously thought it was going to be shut down there for a while. It's in such a great location and has a lot of potential for more foot traffic than it gets. However, I do hope they add more variety into their food court during the reconstruct.

Spent some dollars at the new safeway. Nice place, not as crowded as I would imagine the night before Thanksgiving. Parking seems busy near the store entrance. New foods to offer inside is definitely worth a try. Big on the inside for everything you need.

The now host Rei, there is the coolest little watch shop... and a killer guitar store, other than that, this small boast indoor bike racks on the walls at ccx the big entrances, it is slowly getting the cool stores it takes to keep a crowd visiting...

I'm pretty sure the managers were questioning what to do after Sears left. Luckily, stores like Carrs/Safeway and REI came in along with other changes, and the mall looks like they have life again. It's still early to tell, but it looks like they could turn it around, and I hope they do. Until then, we'll just have to find out.

I love this mall. It has different levels and jyst about anything you want. Kids could ice skate while you shop. Some after kids get out of school take them all to the YMCA. The kids can swim or play basketball, work out with weights, whatever they choose while mom soaks in a salt bath. After you are done, all take showers. Then eat from one of the many excellent eateries and you can just about guarantee kids are ready for bed. And dad is happy and mom is relaxed. A win win!

I like this mall a lot. Sure, it's not as big as the 5th avenue mall, but I hate driving all the way downtown and finding parking! Midtown is way easier to park and get to. The mall is clean, well maintained, and bright.

It has the potential to be a hub of great shopping but continues to not bring in the popular outlets. One large store like Target or Bestbuy would begin definitely take revenue from Carrs or Fred Meyers or Walmart. It is missing something for the kids especially.

With the adding of many anchor tenant like Carrs Safeway, REI, it looks great from outside but inside are still very empty, I used to go to the food court a lot, but now that the food court is taken out, not much updates on other food options besides burger fi. :)

It's a weird Setup. Small Mall Edit 4/12/2021 This mall has undergone extensive remodeling, including a new anchor store, as well as many new modern businesses. Notable additions include REI, Planet Fitness, and Carr’s Grocery.

I only went to the REI store so I was not in the mall and I do not know if it is currently open. REI has entrances where you do not have to enter the mall. I can tell you the parking lot is clean and I felt safe there.

Clean and 'loved' the well stocked shelves, variety and the freshness of the floral department and beautifully handcrafted floral arrangements! The employees, were all friendly, very helpful and courteous. They put you first. In fact, at any Carrs stores, I went to, employees were always courteous, friendly and very helpful. Especially the employees of Carrs store off Muldoon and Northern Lights. I love the small town feel at this store and have seen the same employees, since I moved here, in 2000. A big "Thank You", to the employees of the midtown and Northern Lights Carrs store!

Not what it used to be, especially with Carrs/Safeway gone. Still a nice place to shop, work and hang out with the kids. Nordstrom rack isn't a real "Outlet Mall", overpriced items you could find online or somewhere else cheaper or in better condition less touched. Maybe an Arcade or Kids play Area would be nice.

It's nice inside, does have some great palaces. Burger fi and steam dot are awesome. Still not really a one stop shopping mall though. Only a small collection of stores with a small food court.

Between Carr's/Safeway closing a couple of years ago, and Sears just recently, the only reason I come here is to eat at the BurgerFi restaurant. There is talk about Carr's reopening at this mall. I'd like to see them succeed as it's a great location for those of us who live and work in the Midtown Anchorage area. Barnes and Noble is also practically next door. Fred Meyers is just down the street.

The Sears is closed now, but I come here for the barber shop, and on Wednesday (and Friday I think) they have a farmers market where you can get a lot of local meat, produce, and other pantry goods. The food court here is pretty underwhelming, but with the addition of burger-fi you have that as an option.

This mall has come a long way from a decade ago. It's actually quite nice with good stores and food, not big so you don't end up with a bunch of foot traffic to navigate around.

The Midtown Mall is back to being a great place to visit. The four big anchor stores - REI, Carrs Grocery, Guitar Center and Nordstrom's Rack - have revitalized and infused exciting energy in what used to be know as the Sears Mall. There are a lot of great stores and services spread throughout the easily navigable layout. It's a good place to have a more intimate shopping experience compared to the sometimes overwhelming big mall experience. The Midtown Mall has it all: banking, food options, coffee, health and beauty, and of course shopping.

The Mall at Sears is experiencing a lot of transition so it wasn't a super enjoyable experience. There are a lot of empty store fronts... However, the gentleman in Payless Shoe Stores was very nice, as were the ladies at the Sears jewelry counter and the young gentleman in glasses at the phone case kiosk.

Was a cool mall in the 90-2002 then started to fail. Now has bought new businesses in (burgerfi, steamboat, guitar center, Nordstrom rack, and REI outlet) still cool spots inside like hallmark, lemon tree, and farmer's market.

Went to lanes crafters for a replacement part. They didnt ha e it but sent me across the street to a small optical shop that did. The manager was super nice and gave me the warranty card for Maui Jim even though they dont carry the brand any longer. Also did a great job cleaning my glasses...highly recommended

There are still plenty of stores left in this mall. You can get groceries, pay cell phone and internet bills, grab a bite to eat and several other things, there is even a planet fitness here now and a place to buy guitars.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it took forever to check out. It was 55 minutes. That was expected with the wonderful sale they were having. Hats off to the staff for their friendly service.

The mall is nice but a bit outdated. It needs some serious upgrading in looks and decor. It reminds of the 1980s every time I step foot in here. The anchor stores are great especially the anime/comic/videogame store.

That was my families first Mall experience back in the early 70s, miss some of the stores that used to be there, Sears Mall is in my heart forever, followed by what used to he University Center, and University Cinemas, Sears may be gone but it will ALWAYS be the Sears Mall to me. 🥰

Love th mall at Sears but it needs some updating. Sears mall is slowly working it's way back up. This mall has a wide variety of mismatched shops that leaves the shopper wondering who the mall is catering too. With recent Burgerfi fast food joint opening and the steam dot coffee cafe/lounge a new set of clients are patronizing the mall. The mall hosts a Wednesday and Saturday market selling spices, vegetables, clothing and much more this also helps stimulate business for the mall shops by drawing in clientele. There are several other eateries in the mall from Thai food to popular popcorn shop. If you are in Anchorage check out the Northway Mall on a Saturday!
