Reviews of Ripe Kitchen & Bar
Kerri is such an awesome waitress. Great customer service and just a wonderful energy to be around. The wait for Ripe to reopen was worth the it. The food is always on point and the drinks complimented my meal well.
After reading mixed reviews, I decided to try Ripe to see the improvements since the renovation. Much to my surprise, the atmosphere and ambiance was perfect for my date night with my fiancée. The bar was festive and the back a more calmer area. The space is very intimate but even with the seating arrangement patrons seemed well comfortable in their space. The food... the food... the food. Omg. I'm sorry, don't laugh. I haven't had oxtail and rice and peas more well seasoned my whole life. I never eat the fat off the oxtail since me born. All down to the fry plantain was properly fried and delicious. I even joked that for the price, they probably give you two piece a meat and half a cup of rice. A full plate a food them serve. My fiancée had the snapper and we exchanged samples and believe me she's not easily impressed and she was wowed. I definitely will be returning and if you haven't already been here; you're already missing out. They are cash only but provide an atm so that's not an issue to worry about if you ran out without.
So it has been a very long time since I've eaten there. All I can say is, that it was the best steak that I have had in a very long time. I am not much of a steak eater. But that steak right there is EVERYTHING!!! SO worth the drive. And the bedroom bully is definitely a great choice. The customer service was as great as the stake. It was a wonderful experience.
Food was good but certain items not available. No desert available. Gone is the spread of the seasoning they once placed on the steak. Stand up table in bar area was "rocking" and very unstable even to a slight touch.
I'm so glad they are back open. I have been going to Ripes for over 10 years, and the great service and family atmosphere from the team was truly missed. Those Drinks Donna !!🍸🍹🔥💞😍
This was my first time patronizing Ripe's since the reopening. The food was pretty good (jerk chicken). However, the atmosphere was bland!!! No decor or pictures, it was very quiet.
The pics I have are from 2012. I've been back many times since. I get the jerk chicken. I'm not a steak person but, they're known for their jerk steak. Ths drinks are tasty. The ambience, is like a Caribbean island spot. Good vibes. On this trip I only had fries and Sauteed Spinach. They had run out of the jerk chicken bowl.
Small place in size, but the service was good. Our waitress Kerry explained everything thorougly in detail. The homemade Fruit Punch tasted like rum punch, except it had no alcohol in it. Very tasty! I am not a fan of Spinach, but their Sauteed Spinach was amazing. The Red Snapper took a long time to make but it was worth it. The Jerk Chicken Quesadilla, Oxtails, and Plantines were all on point. Everything we had was good. No compliants!
Absolutely loved it here! It was on my list of places to eat for a long time and I finally went and took my girl with me. We had an awesome time just drinking, eating and being our silly selves. We sat at the bar for their happy hour and we were not disappointed. The drinks were strong and the food was delicious. Donna our bartender, Kerrian the waitress/hostess and Courtney the waitress/whatever else were such great hosts and made us feel like family. We had the curry goat, fish tacos (major highlight/must order), jerk chicken quesadilla, mango and passion margaritas and the bedroom bully. I definitely felt like I was in the Caribbean here & I really loved that vibe. It's a small place that seems to draw a fun & hip crowd & I can't wait to go back. P.S. the outside of the place is very nondescript so look closely or utilize GPS if driving or you might miss the place.
The rum punch here is a must have! It takes happy juice to the next level. Stuffed cod fish and jerked chicken were really good too. The dim lit ambience inside is cool. However, it’s cash only so come prepared as there isn’t a bank within walking distance.
The experience was so good that the food was awesome. I will be going back, however, the music could have been batter.
Amazing atmosphere and food. The staff were very courteous and prompt. We sat in the backyard and enjoyed the music, drinks and food. Everything was delicious. Favorite was the pepper shrimp.
Fantastic, perfect, awesome!!!
Arguably one of the best steaks I've had.
Our server Kheri, is warm, intelligent, with impeccable service and excellence!!!
My favorite chef works there and the food is tasty, presentation is on point and the atmosphere is bubbly, friendly. You can find alone and enjoy
No wait @9pm on a Sunday, Surprised... Food always Great, Service Some times Can be Slow but when the wait is long is well worth it, Price is Good, Drinks, Well if you have 2 Rum Punch, you wont be Driving 😉, Enjoy the Food & Drinks Pretty Darn Good & I know MY steaks... …
Food was excellent, rum punch was great
I came here for dinner with my boyfriend on Saturday night. We got there around 6:30. It was about a 30 minute wait. Places small but they are pretty organized and keeping track of the patrons. We ordered drinks while waiting to be seated. The bartender was professional friendly and definitely knows how to make her drinks. We got the Mojito which was pretty potent as we were both a little tipsy from one drink after finishing it which is a good thing LOL. We ordered the crab cake saltfish fritters it was pretty good I enjoyed it. they only serve oxtails on Saturday and Sunday so I had the oxtails as recommended the our waitress, honestly it was okay it was good but I feel like I've had better. My boyfriend had the rasta pasta. It wasn't what I expected it was good just not the typical rasta pasta with the penne noodles they use linguine and mushrooms it was honestly okay not my favorite. For those reasons I give it 3.5 Stars. I will be returning because I want to try their fish options and I also want to return for what I hear is beautiful outdoor setting that they said they start setting up for that in May. Otherwise great establishment I love to support black-owned businesses, I recommend it.
In the several times I've been to Ripe the food never disappoints.
By far my favorite meal to order is the Big Ass Jerk Steak. A large, juicy, perfectly grilled rib-eye topped the secret chandon beni sauce. I cannot express my love of this meal enough. The steak comes with a choice of rice & peas or French fries. Simply writing this review is making me salivate over it.
But, no trip to Jamaica or Ripe for that matter is complete without an authentic Rum Punch. Ripe's rum punch arrives at your table garnished with fruit and the signature aroma of Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum. The reason it's called punch is because of the knockout effect. When mixed correctly, a punch goes down effortlessly because of the sweetness of pineapple and orange juice, but can sneak up on you. So drink it slow. You may know the old rhyme associated with Caribbean drinks, "one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong and four of weak". Well, I don't believe there is anything at all weak in this Punch.
(Keep in mind, Ripe is cash only, so hit up the ATM before your visit.)
Very nice Jamaican restaurant! Top class, with inside and outside seating. Very romantic with cool vibes.
Jerk chicken and green salad. It was good. Pan fried snapper. Oxtails. Cozy and small. Friendly staff.
The place was cool. Small and quaint. Their refrigerator had busted so they didnt have fried plantains, french fries or curry shrimp. They dont really have any vegetarian options either. But their rum punch was good ... and their rice and peas were tasty. Its a cash only place which is kinda odd.
Not your average Jamaican restaurant. They play with fun concepts like Jerk Chicken quesadilla or Jerk Steak Ribeye. Staff is knowledgeable and courteous! Will be back again. A must see in the Bronx.
Loved the food here. The jerk borders on the best tgat I've ever had.
We tried this place for the first time recently. I was pleasantly surprised!
I love this spot, makes me feel like Im in Montego bay JA. A relaxing laid back spot with excellent drinks and sexy names such as bedroom bully. I love their signiture Mojito and Pepper shrimps!
Best Jamaican jerked steak ever. Amazing ox tails too.
The snapper was amazing. Would definitely go back!
Great food and drinks. Nice low-key atmosphere. My friend and I had the pan roasted snapper and both thought it was excellent. We had crab cakes and the stuffed plantain as appetizers and they were good also. The rum punch is good.... It creeps up on you 😁 Service was also very good. …
The food is good and it is consistently good. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The jerk hanger steak is a must. There is outdoor seating in the back. But when you plan to go, put lots of time aside service is slow and the kitchen has been known to get backed up, to the point where they suspend seating. So if you take patience, a sense of humor, lots of time and a laid back island attitude, you'll have a great time! Five stars, otherwise.
I live in northern CT. The 80 minute drive the dozen or so times were well worth it. I hope that they reopen soon so that we could return for their Amazing Jerk Ribeyes
Tuesday night this is my spot! I love the rum punch. My family will dine here whenever they stop in town. The bar section is kind of tight so I always go to the dining area. Service is average, nothing special and no one goes out of there way. However the food more than makes up for it. I enjoy the plantain boat, jerk chicken or the steak.
5 stars because the food is delicious . Top notch cuisine and ample portions. Everything on the menu looked appetizing. However, the wait staff needs help , it takes a while to receive your order and drinks which is understandable , since there's only 1 waitress and busboy for 10+ tables.
Also , the place could use a little bit of tidying. [Silverware, floors , tables etc. ] I'm sure with more staff & a little more attention to detail would make the experience even better.
I am in love with the Jerk Steak and rice & peas. I have eaten at Ripe at least 10 times within the last 3 yrs, and I am never disappointed with the food. The place is small and crowded but worth the wait. The drinks are strong. They mastered their steak recipe and it is awesome. I love their appetizers and curried goat as well.
It's like taking a teleporter with destination set to the Caribbean. That's how I felt when I hopped into my car & entered the doors of the Ripe Kitchen & Bar. I was greeted with warm smiles & a cozy Caribbean vibe. The food is like what you dream Caribbean food should taste like - delicious! The prices were very affordable for the taste & presentation. The spring rolls are a must have. They are spring rolls with a West Indian twist. I really enjoyed this restaurant, I will return. This is one of the best Caribbean restaurants I have dined at in NYC. The space is small, but surprisingly not too crowded on that Saturday I visited, but I imagine for such a good restaurant, that's not always the case given the small space, might be crowded, so keep that in mind.
I live in NC and was in NY for Thanksgiving visiting friends.
A friend recommend this spot for some good Caribbean food. There was six in our party. The atmosphere is small and quaint. The food was very good . My favorite dishes was the crab cakes and jerk chicken. $$
The food in this place is incredible. The flavors and spices just makes your mouth happy and your heart sing.. The steak is my favorite, followed by the peppered shrimp.. I use the juice from my shrimp over my rice and beans.. HEAVENLY, I TELL YOU!. If you haven't been go.. It's worth it..
I would have given them a 4 star but the take out serving is super small, I could eat it in 5 'forkfuls'. Their half Jerk Chicken is served in a regular small sized white dinner box with what appears to be a half spoon of Rice 'n' Peas on the side with a little veg...that my dear will set you back a good $14...when you're done you're still starving. The one positive...the flavors are REALLY great!
Small place but the food is amazing! I love coming here to eat.
I must say the drinks are always on point. Th service has gotten lot better. The only poblem i had was that they over cooked my steak. But they fixed it and it was great. Definitely going back.Visit sweetspyce.home.blog for more
Very good food. It's a bit of a hole in the wall but I mean that in the most amenable way possible. The drinks are a great deal during happy hour because they are STRONG! Friendly enough staff. I would d
Go back. Not many options for vegetarians
Location is close to my house. The wait was shorter this time around (probably because we got there earlier on a Friday). Staff service is average to good (depending on how busy they are). Food (jerk steak) is always great, drinks are strong, but good.
Good place good service great food awesome drinks
I love their fish and steak tacos. Overall their food is delicious. Their steak is famous being the recipe that beat celebrity chef Bobby Flay in iorn chef. Good atmosphere. May be a wait but its really worth it.
The food was so tasty and flavorful and the service was exceptional
Really great food. Was recommended to me by a friend. I ordered their fish, jerk chicken, and curried goat. Nigel was really helpful and he didn't disappoint at all. Will be recommending them to anyone looking for authentic Jamaican food.
Love this place. Nice intimate spot with big flavor menu items. They have a famous steak. It may not be the best cut of steak but it is cooked to perfection and the chimi sauce is to die for. Signature rum punch will have you feeling irie.
This place is authentic Jamaican food. The menu is small but it allows them to be good at everything they make. The drinks are good and really strong. One drink will have you feeling pretty buzzed.
I
Love this spot
Food is absolutely delicious
I ate there several times and I love the order out but they had a fire and they’ve been closed for almost a year now please open again soon
This review is for the outside seating. The inside needs a major face lift. The outside ambiance was super cute! I ordered the rasta pasta and a flavored margarita. Both were good. I will come back when the weather is nice.
Don't be fooled by the location and appearance. This is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Mount Vernon.
The drinks are strong, the portions are large and the atmosphere is cozy, yet comfortable.
The Jerk Steak is so good, it bested Bobby Flay on his television show "Beat Bobby Flay."
I once had here one of the best Jerk Rib-eye i ever had. I haven't been here for a while and last week we decided to check it again. They still offer great food, but i must be honest and say that something was missing. But i just have great memories from this place, that i will check it again, and i promise to update.
Ripe is a great place for Jamaican style dishes with a twist. The food is not that spicy as would be expected at a traditional Jamaican restaurant. The roast fish is my favorite and drinks from the menu are worth trying, but I prefer to have the bartender make my own mix. The service is good and comes with a bit of personality or spiciness, if you are lucky both. The atmosphere is cozy with good music.
Always an amazing night out. The fish tacos are excellent.
They catered a recent event for me and my guest absolutely LOVED the food. The large trays are REALLY large, I had plently of food left over, even after second and third helpings from all my guests. The RICE staff was also very kind and professional. Thank you for the great food and service.
It was okay the customer service was good but I had to ask 3 times for water, something that should have been placed on the table upon arrival. My fiancé ordered oxtails and said it wasn't what he anticipated or heard from others and also he found a piece of FOIL in his food!!! However my stew red snapper was delicious and cooked perfectly. THE drinks are strong which is fine by me. The place is nice but narrow and kinda tight not enough space. But overall it's nice and DIVERSE. And the salad Omg is very good and the dressing tastes amazing.
A must visit. Wonderful place with great drinks and dishes. Especially Taco Wednesday where the steak tacos are to die for. My my my. Small bar area but there is plenty of seating. Amazing rum punches as well...
The ambiance, the food, the drinks. It’s all so good! Compliments to the chef who makes the most tasteful food ever. I love the drinks from here. I love everything about this place and highly recommend if you want tasty food and great drinks!
The Best Jamaican style cuisine in Mount Vernon hands down! The dining experience is just top notch. Ask to be seated outside for a breath taking atmosphere touched with hints of pepper lights and green foliage mimicking the tropics.
Cash only with atm on premises - Dimmed lit & intimate feel of Jamaica. Food is fantastic. Servers are great(the 2 of them). I will come back to that establishment. The steak is slamming!
My Wife and I visited Ripe October 24, 2017 at evening. We were excited to finally try this restaurant. Here’s our thought:
Parking: Street, lots of parking in the evenings.
The Building: Dated and in need of a little facelift but I’m sure the owners are aware.
The Interior: Small, the ambience dark.
The Staff: Not attentive. Waited for a moment before seated as the waitress was sitting having a personal conversation by a table.
Food:
- Order: Curry Goat served with Lettuce and dressing (me) and Jerk Chicken Rasta Pasta (wife)
- Taste: Certainly not better than other Caribbean Restaurants to justify the High cost of the meals. It would be nice to serve the curry goat meal with some good coleslaw or allow choice of dressing for the lettuce.
Drinks:
- Order: Red Stripe (me), Fruit punch (wife). Fruit punch was overloaded with Ice, some removed, definitely not worth the $11 tab. Weakest drink even though menu said it was strong. Note, price of drinks not shown on the menu.
Overall: If you’re a foodie and haven’t tried Caribbean cuisine then this is the place to try. If you have had some good Caribbean food, it will be hard to find reasons to justify the cost of the food and drinks.
After hearing so much about this place, I gave it a try. Service was prompt (maybe due to the time of night). Food: B- , B (depending on what you order and your personal taste) Decor: F . a complete failure. Inside is dark and who thought it was a good idea to use a dark red bulb for the restroom. I didn't like the layout or decoration style at all. Too many Jamaican places don't take the time to invest in making their place of business look welcoming. Invest in making this place look like a top restaurant. I have only seen 2 other Jamaican restaurants do this. WARNING: This place is CASH ONLY!!
I just want to say.. that for the 1st time in my life i could honestly say that it was %100 worth the wait to get my ribeye jerk steak from here ... The rice and peas were amazing, the salad was dressed perfectly, and the steak was cooked to perfection. The only reason im giving a 4 star is because I wanted to pre-order but their phone gave a busy signal..but i can understand why now lol
It was a little bit of a wait to be seated about 25 minutes, but after we got our table out waitress was awesome and oh my God the food was the best I've had in a restaurant outside of Jamaica will definitely be going back. Only thing I would go a bit earlier
Seems disrespectful to call this place a hole in the wall... Just show up with cash in hand, order a Big Ass Jamaican Jerk Steak and some rum punch, and thank me later. It's a party in your mouth for sure. It's got a nice outdoor patio in the warmer months and the cozy inside is dimly lit. Great place to take a date or visit with some friends. I have never made reservations, but you may want to depending on when you go. Even if you decide to go without reservations and have to wait a little, it is well worth the wait! If you forget your cash, they do have an ATM. I have taken four different sets of friends to RIPE as well as brought food home for my family, and the consensus is in: as long as you like spice (if you're ordering jerk) and can afford to spend approximately the price of three general admission movie tickets, then this place is for you. Portion size will not disappoint either. I learned of this little gem by watching some late night segment that Bobby Flay was on. Although, Flay has earned his accolades, he isn't exactly the singular reason I was sold; it was moreso the food porn :)
So I've been coming to Ripe. Not impressed with the server. She was very disengaged yet we gave her a lofty tip. Very disappointed that the weekday menu is so sparse. The fish entree selection soo limited. Ripe would do better to have your servers in proper uniform. Our served looked like she just came off the street and jumped in to help. Not a good look. Much more is expected.
Excellent food. Don't let the exterior of the restuarant guide you; this place is a true culinary pleasure. The crowd is high tempo-ed and lively. Not a quiet place but fun to be at
Such a nice place . The crowd is so nice love carribean owned restaurants with a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Seems like "CHEERS" everyone knows your name. The bartender Donna is very efficient..surprisingly too bc she doesnt write down your order, shes awesome. No attitude just friendly!!!
This place was amaaaazing, omg just thinking about their food is making me hungry! No, but seriously, if you're visiting Mt. Vernon you have to make a quick stop here, if not you can make reservations. The place is cozy, small, and makes you feel as if you're home or better yet, waiting on grandma's delicious jerk chicken/steak. I went for my husband's friend dinner party, and I was overjoyed by the customer service.
This was my firt experience, and will be coming soon!
Decor isn't the best but the food and drinks are phenomenal. Guests that patronize this prized Caribbean restaurant know it's all about the taste, textures and vibes. Bring a yard man or two fi a gud time! Cash only.
I feel like I am in the islands when we go here. It is small on the inside but that is what makes it comfy, cozy, sexy. Every plate taken from a table is cleaned of the orignal chef's creation!!!! IT IS THAT GOOD! And the drinks. Yes island rite! Please visit during the weekend, the menu gets special. I find myself craving their "Big ass jerk steak". And the tacos are perfection! GO!!! Hurry! And if your are trying to impress your date during these summer nights, sit outside and enjoy the vibe!!! Tellem Kelly said everything is Irie
The food is really great. It's a cash only restaurant. The decor is nice it has a real Jamaican authentic restaurant feel. The service on the other hand could be better. I have tried all there food and it was excellent. You have to try the steak. Overall its a really nice place
My experience last night was awesome. We came in the door partying giving it a little life. The waitress came to seat us and we were like we ain't ready yet. The food was excellent and the vibes.
I learned about this restaurant from a friend/co-worker who speaks very highly about this restaurant. After hearing about it so much from her I decide to stop by one Thursday after work.
We arrived at 5:00p when they opened because my friend warned that it could get crowded very quickly and that they took cash only. The restaurant resembles local food spots that you might see in Jamaica - very simply made of wood and not fancy at all. Once you enter you walk into the bar area and can either dine there, order take out or wait to be seated.
The drink and food menus were very simple. Also, because it was weekday we were able to order mojitos at half the price. The mojitos were offered in various flavors (I chose Mango) and it was VERY strong but got sweetened the closer I got to the bottom of the glass. For appetizers, my friend ordered the codfish spring rolls and I ordered the jerk chicken quesadilla. I wasn't impressed with either appetizer but the quesadilla was best out of the two in my opinion. For our entrees, my friend ordered the rasta pasta with shrimp which I have had at footprints in Brooklyn but this version blew footprints version out of the water. It was absolutely delicious and the shrimp complimented it perfectly. I am not a steak lover but after seeing all the yelps about the jerk steak I had to give it a try. I personally haven't had a steak like that in a longtime. It was very meaty and extremely tender but not overly seasoned. It comes with a salad and rice and peas or white rice. I didn't care much for the rice and peas at all. I am definitely returning for that steak and the rasta pasta although I would love to try the oxtails also. Before leaving my friend and I had already made plans to return with our other co-workers.
My cousins and I met there, not having seen each other in some time. The staff was so friendly and catered to our every need. And they even let us stay for a short while even after the restaurant closed and we had finished our meal. Thank you!! Oh and the food and drinks were on point too!!
The food here is phenomenal; they really know how to throw in down in the kitchen. On the other hand, the customer service is horrid for no reason. For a restaurant to have so much respect for its meals, the owner should really put an emphasis on explaining to their employees the meaning of customer service. The young Coolie/Indian girl that they have worker there is in for some real life lessons if she carries on like that in her everyday life; the girl needs some correcting and training on the importance of customer service. I could easily say that its a Jamaican establishment, what should I expect? I'm just saying that the food shouldn't be the direct opposite of the service provided.
The atmosphere, food and drinks were all spot on. It caught me by surprise because once you entered the doors you're in a completely different world from what it's surrounded by outside. It's like an oasis in the middle of a dry neighborhood !!
The experience was like no other. Both Courtney and Spirit were attentive to all of their customers. These ladies were even engaging with a baby and the couple next to us. They made my husband and I feel like family. It was our first time at RIPE and Courtney gave us her favorite suggestions and was patient with all of our questions. These ladies were in sync with their service. The drinks were PHENOMENAL, both the mango mojito and the rum punch!!! That coconut and garlic fish was beyond DELICIOUS. Make sure you get the rice and peas... oh and the maduros... plantains. As well as the cod fish spring roll. This has become our OVERNIGHT FAVORITE place to go to... we went three nights in a row... and it was great every night.
Taco Wednesdays a wonderful experience. Passionfrit Margarita recommended. We had a wonderful server Kerry, who is amazing. Ripe is a diamond in the ruff with consistently kind, quick, and courteous service
Crowded but worth it. Food are in large portions and delicious. Fine Carribean music, drinks, dining experience. Outside patio as well. Beautiful ppl and awesome Rum Punch drinks. A must go to at least once in life. Luckily, I stay near by lol
Great place for a nice, well seasoned meal, customer service was good too, the place is really small though, I didn't really like the ambiance, I believe it has an intimate feel to it but guest were on top of each other not enough space for room.
Can sometime get crowded, but only because they have good food (And since the place is not huge). Food made from the heart, and you can taste the love in it. Little poetic I know, but this place is unique enough for me to stop here once in a while.
Ribeye jerk steak is amazing. Also tried the rasta pasta also very good love the flavor, the food and drinks here are solid, highly recommend. Location of the restaurant is not your neighborhood Applebees.
Cash only, but WORTH IT for that award-winning rib eye. Most tender fat you can find on a steak. And I do not like fatty steaks...
Very small restaurant very low lighting steps to go up restaurant... But excellent food and drinks. There were only 2 servers on the floor but they were great pleasant and patient.
This place is great. Steak is delicious. I cannot convey to you how excellent the food here is so you should just come to experience it for yourself.
The food is great and makes the long wait for the food worth it . If there was a negative it would be the wait but I would recommend to anny and everybody to go here.
I had the jerk steak for the first time and I'll be getting that again
Absolutely DELICIOUS each and Everytime. Small inside so prepare to wait. Can get crowded. The Escovitch Fish is my Favorite here!!! TRUE Island Vibes!!
I absolutely love thier food it's so tasty! The Big Ass Rib Eye Steak, the cod fish spring rolls and cuban boat, oh and we can't forget about the rasta pasta. Its small quaint and I love it.
The food is amazing and the service is great. It just needs a bit more moving room but other than that... No complaints!
Food, great atmosphere, great drinks, great
My only issue is the premises is small so when everyone wants to come, (and they will because its great) it can be difficult to come in and have a proper meal or drink but really I loved it the bar just felt a little crowded
Food is always good, service can be spotty when crowded but can't put 100% on wait staff since it's only one person taking all of the orders and doing as good of a job as can be expected. Would give 5 stars, if they get that worked out.
this place is amazing but to be honest the cheff was on vacation and the food knew it.we knew it there were dishes like the rolls wer not being served I'm gonna go back again I've been going for over 10 years always with New friends.
Great spot!!!!
Jerk Rib Eye is amazing along with the rum punch! Makes you feel like you are on vacation. Be sure to book early. There is usually at least a 45 minute wait.
They cook really good. I don't go out a lot and eat, because I end up wasting money on bland and tasteless food. This place is 100% worth it. 😋 …
Drinks are so good and the red snapper was tasty!
I haven't been in years, but I see after last night there are regular folks hanging out by the bar making it super tight. Didn't like the crowd!
Home of the best jerk ribeye steak. Saw this place on "Beat Bobby Flay" and have been going ever since (at least 7 years). We travel an hour to eat this food. DELICIOUS!
Authentic Jamaican food. The jerk chicken is flavorful and tasty. The service was standard and the drinks were smartly named. Very cozy restaurant.
The food was awesome and the drinks are amazing pricing is good. I have been here more than once and I am never disappointed .
Service and atmosphere was great, i was very comfortable. Howeverii i think renovations need to be gradually done for this restaurant to really thrive. Unlimited potential!
Well the food was more then what I expected. Presentation was superb. Staff could of been more talkative to customer, the they make it up in the unique taste of the dishes. I will be coming back
Love their happy hour, staff is nice and friendly. Food is delicious but should have more options in the menu
I've been here several times prior to having my Birthday dinner here April 2015 the ambiance and service was spectacular not to mention the food was delectable . I would recommend this Restruant as a date night with friends or as a couple. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I always get the steak so I decided to try something different. The rasta pasta was excellent! I got the chicken and shrimp. A lot of food for the money.
One of The best tasting Caribbean food in the Mt Vernon. It a different spin to the normal foods that we love from back home.
Excellent food, the atmosphere is reminiscent of an old time back good Jamaican hole in the wall, which adds to the charm,I highly recommend the Big Ass Jamaican Jerk Ribeye Steak
The food was fantastic but the service was a bit slow and the wait staff were arguing in view of the customers. Nothing that really ruined our meal but it was still strange.
You can smell this place several blocks down the road the jerk pork enter chicken is delicious. They have a parking lot and it's a little tight but it's worth it especially at night to go in there and try their food.
I love the food here. Omg the stake and the spinach heaven. Be careful with the drinks they crepe up on you. Nice, quiet ambience
I love this place..I am not going into full details. If you never go here, your loss. The food and drinks are magnificent.
Really good food but loust service. The staff seems disengaged and allof. No one answers the telephone no matter what day or time you call.
food is great, service could be better but thats what you get when you dealing with Jamaicans in ny lmao ..(NO OFFENSE) ....overall great atmosphere, & great food!
For first timers order the BIG ASS STEAK .....wont be disappointed !
I went on a Saturday night so very busy, so the service was kind of slow but they were still kind patient and the food was excellent and the drinks were strong.
The food and service was fantastic! I would definitely have dinner and drinks here again...cozy place to hang
The food was pretty good. I ordered the Rasta pasta, jerk chicken, and oxtail takeout. I've had better but this is a decent substitute.
The food is very delicious.i order a rasta pasta.also have a rumpunch with jamaica rum in it.the place is very small.i have to wait almost 2hrs to get a table to have my dinner..
The atmosphere was good but the attitude from the hostess/waitress was horrible. Will make one more attempt to visit as everyone has a bad day sometimes.
The food is great, the settings reminds me of back home, the staff is pleasant and did i mention the food is devine. Not to mention the alcoholic beverages, they are not shy with the alcohol
Had a great time at happy hour with the plantain boat and peper shrimp. My mango mojito was amazing thanks to donna.
Nice place to go.. The food is good and the ambiance is cosey. Finding a spot like this in the Mount Vernon Westchester area was wonderfull. Its just across the Bronx Border Line.. North on Pitman ave.
Nice neighborhood spot I usually get the ox tails. You should order something else so when I go they will always have enough oxtails for me.
Nice, nice and nice. Food was excellent. That was my first time and I would go again. I wish that credit cards were accepted.
Great food. You can get a chance to meet the chef, and owner, good mood, I recommend checking it out.
Ordered the Jerk chicken to see what all the hype was about. Tender and well seasoned. Some good stuff but a little on the expensive side. Have had better jerk on white plains rd...
I went here last night with my husband. Nice ambiance, the rib eye steak was excellent and also the rasta pasta.
Great food great service they have the world's best crab cakes, plaintain with saltfish mad , nice ambiance the only drawback is it's cash only.Totally Jamaican love it will tell my friends.
The curry goat was tough but the employees were nice. I will try the spot again. I just won't order the curry goat.
Good food and great service. Every time I go, the food is delicious!
COD fish spring rolls are to die for. The drinks are great and the lighting in the restaurant is excellent. I'm always there.
I eat there Tuesday 8/28/18 food was great but one of the workers was wearing sleeveless over my food don't think that's appropriate
This is one of my favorite spots. Drinks are always on point. Food is good. Never disappointed.
No questions about it, definitely the spot to be, great food and vibe. Best steak and absolutely best rum punch around!!
Great food, service, atmosphere and drinks were amazing!
This place is great for food but males sure you clear a full 24hrs because the wait is all day unless you take out thank me later

One of my all time favorite places. I have been going here since its inception and they have never disappointed.
The Food is great! Dimmed lit atmosphere; a nice setting for a romantic date.
Love this place... wish it was a little roomier , but the awesome drinks and great food is the reason I keep coming back !
Absolutely the best Caribbean cooking in the city, truly a Gem in Mount Vernon/the Bronx. Do not take my word for it, go and see for yourself

The food was tasty, but the service was very very slow.
Great food, but it's the 21st century and still cash only. I understand why but it's an annoyance.

Damn good Jerk Ribeye! The rear of the menu is great as well. Always a good time at Ripe.
