Been to this diner a few times with the family and they never seem to disappoint me. The was is amazing, the serve is great, the place is great, everything is just great. I haven’t have any bad experience yet and I believe I won’t ever have one. My son fell in love with the oreo blast milkshake. Wife had the avocado toast, it was so good that she wanted to order another order but she was too full. Their steak sandwich is juicy. Love this place. Definitely recommend all the families to come give this place a try. I drive from The Bronx just to go eat here.

Its an awesome place to go relax and have sometime. Great service and food at anytime of the day, whether u want breakfast,lunch or dinner. The selection of food is great and the staff are attentive to your needs. Its a great place to go whether ur with ur family or by yourself it always has a good vibe.

We went there for a quick breakfast and my hubby was pleased with his pancakes and Canadian bacon. Pancakes were delicious and fluffy. I ordered a sausage egg & cheese breakfast burrito, and was not impressed - the eggs were over hard eggs, well done. They loaded it with turkey sausage that kept falling out. IDK, maybe a better execution, like maybe scramble with the cheese & diced sausage folded in. Just a thought.

I absolutely love this diner. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, all great. The best burgers, soups and cheesecake, really anything I've had is wonderful. I live 2 hours away but when I get to Yonkers I eat here.

This old school diner is true to its reputation! We were staying at the hotel next door and ate here everyday of our stay. The service is super warm and inviting. The food was amazing and so was the expresso. They have an amazing variety of dishes for every craving imaginable. If you are in town, this is a must. You are going to love it.

My family and I were there today around 4pm. It wasn't that busy and we were waiting for 3 other people. Our experience wasn't that great and I managed to get a hold of the owner's son( I believe) and told him about our waitress. He came with a dessert which I wasn't expecting but was appreciated. When we left my mother told me that our waitress gave her a dirty look and stuck her tongue out at her!!!!! NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!!!

Been to Grassy Sprain Diner many times over the past a few years. The service has always been good in my opinion, whether you are eating in store or a pickup. The same for the food, it's always been fresh and tasted delicious. Totally recommend them!

A great place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner with friends and family or by yourself even. The place is very nice and they have varieties of food choices. The price is reasonable and it won't hurt your pockets. Good meal at a fair price in a comfortable environment, you can't beat that. Their service is also excellent, the waiters are very generous and welcoming. I suggest anyone nearby to check this place out.

A decent diner. My family likes it here. I had the French toast with a Greek dessert on top. It was good. The French onion soup was bad. I could taste tomato in it. It barely resembled French onion soup.

They have the best 8 oz Burger in Westchester county! I've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Both times, I had either burgers or eggs. They were delicious. I was served by a courteous waiter and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the neighborhood people. I remember the coffee being good and the desert that I had. This was the old Friendly's that I used to come to as a kid. Whether you sit at the bar or table, it is certainly worth it. The prices of fair and the food is pretty good. I recommend it to all who are looking for a good lunch or a fine dinner. Bring the family, because they all have fun. By the way, the portions are generous and you will leave fulfilled.

The wait or was attentive as needed. The seating area was clean. It was big enough to fit my kids and extended family. The food was well presented and warm. However, the seating area in the back was uncomfortably shared with flies. Three to be exact. That appeared toward the end of our visit. We asked for the check Packed up and left. Please get this under control.

They're really nice and greet you as soon as you walk in. The place is clean and nice and cool. They're breakfast menu is really nice and clear and they have something for everyone. My husband ordered the steak Benedict but the steak was a little chewy and the presentation wasn't as nice. I ordered the Denver skillet (fried eggs over homefries with cheddar cheese) and it was flavorless and they put too much onions and peppers. Other than that the food comes out fast and they're very attentive.

We made our semi annual visit to this diner. As usual, great prices, family like atmosphere, homestyle cooking, nice seating arrangement including multiple types of seating. Prices are very reasonable, as are the portions sizes. This time we tried the Gailmore Sandwich (super soft, moist, tasty meatloaf on a outrageously soft bun with cheddar cheese )served with thin crispy french fries and a side of brown gravy. A party of 2 can expect to have lunch for under $30 and still have leftovers. What is not to like? Thank you to our server (Stein) who notably ran between tables and fielded many customers requests.

Very laid back and nice. I left Cross County after looking for parking. It was so overcrowded it was disturbing. I remembered this place. The staff is professional n friendly. The food is very good. I want to say it is a bit pricey for a diner. Cool with me if I can sit and feel normal. This is one to keep in the pocket.

Service was really nice, prompt and friendly with a very cozy and comfortable atmosphere. The food unfortunately wasn't that great. I ordered the huevos Ranchero and the beans were very undercooked and bland, the tortillas looked oily so I didn't try that and the home fries didn't have much flavor. The eggs were okay, sunny side up, no frills. I really did find the server Alejandro to be very pleasant and made sure the cup of coffee I had was topped off.

I have eaten here twice in the last 2 weeks. First time had a cheeseburger deluxe, the burger was cooked to order-medium rare. Fries were fantastic. They came out hot, crispy and had a great flavor, no ketchup was needed. My dinner companions enjoyed their meals. Second time, had the Reuben made with corned beef, it was good. Again fries were hot & crispy. I would have preferred more sauerkraut on the Reuben but that's my preference. Service was excellent. Wait staff was very attentive and pleasant. We got dessert to go each time. The Greek desserts were good. Unfortunately the cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake and apple strudel were all just okay. The cheesecake was a little dry. Maybe they don't make them on premises. The desserts were the reason for the 4 star review instead of a 5.

Food is great ! Great portions and great prices. Only thing I would change would be the woman who answers the phones. It sounds like she’s always angry to pick up the phone, makes customers feel like they don’t want to order anymore. Ruins the family friendly vibe Grassy Sprain Diner aims for. Dine-in is better because the waiters at-least TRY to be friendly and treat you with respect. And this isn’t a one time thing, I order their delivery consistently enough and sometimes just end up ordering somewhere else because of her unfriendly customer service.

The food here is great! The fries are bomb! I’ve been to this diner about 3 or 4 times and I love it. Especially the waiters and waitresses. ALTHOUGH, I have also called for delivery from this place multiple times and just for one order they take about an hour and half to deliver it. Also, the woman who picks up the phone to take the order has her days where she is very rude and makes me cancel my order. They should really hire someone friendlier for their phones. Other than that, I think the diner is great for sit ins.

First time coming here. It’s very clean and welcoming. My boyfriend and I were seated right away. Place is pretty big for the location and It was partially full. Our waitress was super nice. I ordered the gyro sandwich, my boyfriend ordered the Texas burger with bacon and we shared an order of the best waffle fries I’ve ever tried. Let’s just say we found our new brunch spot. Would definitely recommend.

I have eaten at this restaurant at least once a week. My server, Rena us the best. I was there this past Monday. The server placed the straws, condiments, and drinks in a manner which I did not like. We had to wait over 10 minutes for our food. When the food was given. It was lukewarm. I did not send back because did not trust what I would be eating. I will go again, but I will make sure it is not on a Monday. I will attend when Rena is there only

Excellent!! I was staying in the area and stopped in. The food and service were first rate. I had Hungarian goulash with lentil soup and it was great. I’m super impressed. Try the homemade Greek desserts. Nice people and great service.

We eat out every weekends. We, Party of 4, have been visiting many restaurants in Tuckahoe area last 2 years. We were so happy to dine in here today finally after the pandemic. When it comes to the taste of food, Grassy sprain diner takes all of our votes. I've tried most of their dinner specials, From goulash to shrimp scampi to fish platter..etc. all were surprisingly good. Yeah, one or two didn't work out though. But I dare to say Grassy Sprain diner is my husband's #1 non- Korean restaurant and It is not easy to please him with non-Korean food. With reasonable price, quality food that satisfies you, also kind staffs and good old local diner feeling makes you comfy, we became a regular. If you looking for a fancy or trendy set up, it is def not the right place. But if you want to have some good quality home made like food, give it a try. All my friends agreed.

Great service, clean all around. Food was ok. We ordered steaks medium well, which were done to perfection. The problem was seasoning, you could tell the steaks were not marbalized prior to cooking. That aside, everything else was fine. Kudos to Susanna for the fantastic friendliness and attention she provided. We would for sure eat here again.

The Diner is great the staff is very friendly, well there's one woman that could use a little help. I used to love coming here for the pancakes but they're not like how they were a year ago i don't know if it was a new cook or what. Now if i really want pancakes i go to ihop or country kitchen diner. It's a shame because i thought i no longer had to go far to get good pancakes. The pancakes now taste like regular diner. I still go for breakfast but i just order something different

There are really good diner small and you might have to wait a little but the food is pretty good. And I do have to say that this suits are pretty damn good for a diner and there is usually enough parking like I said the only bad thing is it is a small Diner so you might have to wait a little bit if they get busy. But I would recommend them and if you do go try the soups.

I have never been here for anything but their breakfast so I can't comment on anything else. The breakfast is good and the coffee is VERY GOOD. It is as good as advertised. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It does get a little busy so expect a bit of a wait.

The food is alright, but the service is great. I didn't hate the experience, but the food was not exceptional. I love diners, but I need to deduct a few points from this one because the food is simply mediocre. The breakfast meals are decent, but they overcooked the eggs and everything was just a little too greasy. At the same time, all the lunch and dinner menu items I had were pretty bad. The burger was bland and lacked substance and I ordered on of the specials, which was basically served cold, indicating that they pre-made it and simply meant to warm it up. Overall, a middling experience that I probably wouldn't recommend.

We happened upon this dinner after leaving Legoland and the restaurants there were all over an hour wait. Everyone at the Grassy Sprain Diner was very nice and accommodating from the manager to the waitress to the bus lady. Food was just okay. I would go back because of the friendly atmosphere.

Typical diner fare - nothing elegant about the place, which could use some updating. Service was prompt and courteous, and it was acceptably clean. There are many beverage choices, including beer. About $17 for a hot open faced turkey sandwich seems high, and the "liquidy" cranberry sauce earned a 1-point deduction.

Now, there are a lot of diners in and around New York, and I haven’t tried all of them, but, this is the BEST NEW YORK DINER!!! Actually this is probably the best diner PERIOD. The atmosphere, the service, the food, all quaintly top notch! It’s like one of those cheery little family diners out of a 50’s tv show. Me and my dad even use it as a comparable now. Food is cooked fresh ie bacon which in other restaurants is either left over from previous day or pre-cooked and burnt to perfection. Burgers cooked exactly the way you like it. Lettuce fresh and no brown spots. Coffee not bitter no taste of a burnt pot. Wait staff friendly and efficient even when busy.

We live nearby - and have been going to diners all our lives - decided just this last year to try the Grassy Sprain - which is situated modestly in an unremarkable mini-strip mall on a commercial stretch in North Yonkers . . . and the Grassy Sprain defines "local place" for us: always busy with regular people, old and young, families and retirees, crowded on Sunday mornings - but the defining characteristic is the friendly staff. We're always greeted at the door by (we think) the owner or manager, steered to our seat of choice, attended to right away by a wait-person that is friendly, sometimes abrupt in a loving, seasoned, professional way ("So good morning. . . talk to me" as the pad and pen are poised to take order') . Food is perfectly fine, no surprises, no disappointments, special requests observed, served in a timely way, table revisited often, diners left to linger over plates, talk as they drink their coffee, often visiting with the wait staff regarding family events, relatives, etc. The buzz and activity fostered by a sense of belonging and being made welcome, good warm food, and dependability. The Grassy Sprain is always a reliable destination for a satisfying meal and pleasant experience.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE GOING. Money is more important than safety to the owner. I fell on the wet bathroom floor because there was no caution sign I was inches away from hitting the toilet bowl I complained to the owner, who told me I was a liar and that the floor was not wet. I was livid, I could have had a serious injury and he was just “sorry”. In addition I complained because they brought me used butter packets to the table and his response was “IF ITS USED THEN DONT USE IT THATS IT” this place is disgusting and the owner doesn’t see what’s wrong with the place and doesn’t care. We paid the entire bill and just left. The owner and a woman kept pointing and talking about me as I was leaving, and the women walked out and stared at my family and I until we drove away.

The Grassy Sprain Diner,is a great place to go to.The staff and manager are very nice.I want to thank the staff so much for last night January 5 th my grand daughter's birthday.We had a plan a birthday party for my grandchild earlier in another place and at the last minute things went wrong.So my husband decided to call this place and spoke to someone there at the Diner and explain what had happened to us,They were so nice to let us have the birthday party there a last minute thing.They quickly set everything up for my party of seventeen people.Every thing turned out very well,and my grand daughter was a very happy child.I thanks so much the manager and all the staff of the Grassy Sprain Diner.We are very greatful.We will continue going there.☺
