From the moment we came in we felt welcome, the people dinning in were very polite and the server was very friendly. She offered to take our picture and was very helpful when we asked about the menu. Jamaica (Hibiscus) cold drinks came fast accompanied by fried tortilla chips and tomato sauce with herbs. My wife asked for substitute meat in one of dishes in the menu, she asked for steak with mole, the taste was authentic and flavorful, I ordered the Oaxaca steak, I was surprised when they brought a lava stone bowl that had been oven heated to keep the food sizzling. Amazing display that made me hungrier, the flavor was superb. Meats were tender and just melted in my mouth as my eyes rolled from pleasure. I’m definitely coming back with friends. The price was good for the large meal, I ended up bringing leftover food home. This was a nice experience for my wife and I. The manager came to ask how we felt about the service and food, Chef came out to greet us and offer dessert. I definitely enjoyed everything.

One of the best Mexican restaurants outside Mexico City and Guadalajara! Everything was fresh and extensively delicious. Food coma inducing! Our host/server was extremely pleasant and gracious. The restaurant is clean and well kept. A true gem.

Really cute Mexican restaurant in Yonkers. The food was delicious and cooked to order. Carnitas was super tender and worth the wait. Waitress and staff were all super attentive and patient. Really enjoyed our experience and look forward to visiting again soon.

This was a very hard decision. I really REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars but I couldn’t. I would love to come back to see if things change at some point. We started off with the usually salsa and chips that all Mexican restaurants provide and we were pleasantly surprised that the salsa was very flavorful. It wasn’t like other places where it’s just basic pick de gallo. Then we come to my first point. They were understaffed. When we walked in, we waited at the door for about 6-8 minutes before anyone came up to us but it was obvious that the place was packed. Luckily there was a single table that had a couple that were leaving so we asked for the table. There was only 2 people attending the every table. We waited about 15-20minutes to have our order taken but at least we had chips and salsa with water. We watched as they struggled to accommodate the people that kept showing up. The place is sort of small but they make good use of it. It is decorated very beautifully but there’s no music whatsoever so you end up hearing everyone conversations. Our food came out pretty fast. We had guac and chips and it was great. The portion was perfect for 2 people. I ordered a steak burrito but was given shredded beef. My wifey had the Burris tacos. Both dishes were really good so it makes up for the incorrect order being given to me. They have Mexican Coke which is always better than regular coke; however, they don’t have any alcoholic beverages. In terms of pricing, it is on the higher side but it is about right when compared to any Mexican food in the area. My receipt had a QR code that said I could pay with my phone so I scanned it. It brought me to a website where I chose to pay via Apple Pay because I have my debit card linked. I was happy to support a fairly new local business so I left a 30% top. I completed the payment and was brought to a confirmation page. A few seconds later I received a notification from my bank saying I made a payment of the exact amount. We thanked our server and headed out. Before making it to our vehicle we were chased down and asked to come back because we didn’t pay. People stared at me as I walked back. I pulled out my confirmation page and showed the staff member. He said I did it wrong. I pulled up my bank account and showed that the money left my account. He said it didn’t go through on his end. I asked him what he wanted to do because I wasn’t going to pay another $100 for no reason. He said he would go ask someone else to come show me that I hadn’t paid. When the second staff member came over, it refreshed and said I had paid. I get not everyone is good with technology but my confirmation page should have been enough in my opinion. If not then my bank account showing the money being charged by their restaurant should have been. I’m any case, it was a good experience overall and I will definitely be back.

Wow! What else can I say but wow. I doubted the five star rating because there were only 44 reviews but I am overjoyed that I came to DON JULIO’S for dinner. THE FOOD WAS SO AMAZING. The guacamole was top tier as was everything else. I ordered the Pescado con Elote and amazingly plated and a very large portion. The Quinoa salad was very refreshing as well. The serving dishes were So cute and the vibes of the restaurant were immaculate. My photos don’t do it justice. Service was great as well. Very full and very happy.

Great Food & Great Customer Service !!! This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. The food has good flavor and customer service is always on point to make sure that you are happy. I ordered the Birria Quesa Tacos Which also came with rice and beans. They also having parking right in front. Will be coming back for sure.

My family and I had an amazing dinner at Don Jose on a Tuesday night. Every part of our visit was excellent. As soon as we stepped through the door we were greeted with a warm welcome. Our waitress Veronica was absolutely terrific. Friendly, attentive and personable - Such a lovely woman. As we looked over our menus she brought us chips, salsa and glasses of water. We ordered fleshly made Guacamole, Chimichangas, Chicken quesadilla, and Tacos. Each dish came with a side of rice and beans. Our meals were delicious, and flavourful without being heavily salted. Everything tasted hot, fresh and authentic. We even had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful owner and head chef, Jose, who was kind enough to bring us a delicious slice of coconut flan. We'll be adding Don Jose to our list of favorites.

I ate here yesterday and I highly recommend it. The food is awesome, the service was great, and the decor was really pretty. The whole restaurant and bathrooms are very clean. I had ceviche and chimichangas. Everything was delicious.

The place is warmly decorated with Mexican decor and earthy colors. The service is excellent, the waiter spoke perfect English and Spanish. Food is excellent at fair prices. Note, at time of visit Nov. 2022, they were still in process of obtaining liquor license so currently have juices and soft drinks. The juices are very good. The food is authentic Mexican. Highly recommend this restaurant.

What an awesome place!! Visiting from Colorado we can find lots of gems with Mexican food but in Yonkers our expectations were low but this food was amazing. The recipes were fresh and so tasty we couldn't stop. The place is small so expect a wait even with reservations but it's worth it. One last thing if you like spicy sauces ask for the house specialty it has a nice kick!

Best Mexican restaurant in Westchester right now, and it's not even close (IMO)! Warm decor, very friendly staff, great at conversating and making you feel like you are at their home as dinner guests. Menu is different, but the most important part of this review is the food. I've been to a lot of Mexican places in my time, the good ones to me are measured by the marinating of the meat. This place has great marinating. All cuts if meat were tasty and seasoned so well. I had the 3 meat fajita and the pastor, oh the pastor, sweet and spicy, the way it should be! We all enjoyed our meals and we will be back!

Dined in for the first time last night after taking out a couple times. Absolutely delicious, and very friendly service. After last night, I’m confident in saying it’s the best Mexican food in the area bar none!! 10/10 would most definitely recommend.

Very welcoming and kind staff, the food was absolutely delicious, by far the best Mexican restaurant in Yonkers. Very aesthetic and cozy feel to the restaurant. One of the staff came out and asked how everything was and offered us eggnog as a little dessert. Overall enjoyed everything.

I found this place by accident today, and it is to die for. The homemade chips and salsa were amazingly fresh. My wife and I had the shrimp ceviche to start, which was also very fresh and delicious, and then our main courses were birria chimichangas. Great flavor on everything, good portions. A little pricey, but I'm happy to pay up a little bit if I know that I'm getting good food using quality ingredients. I'll definitely be back. This place is worth finding!

I had seen a sign for "Authentic Mexican Food" for a new restaurant near Bed Bath and Beyond. The little strip mall is elevated from the main road so its hard to see it. However, I stopped by Bed Bath and Beyond to pick up an order and decided to stop by. I'm so happy I did. For me, a good indicator by how good a mexican restaurant is, is how good their tamales are. So I ordered the Tamale Pollo and Tamale Camarones. The chicken tamale was excellent - good size and the tomatillo sauce and crema were excellent (I wonder if they make both in house). The Camarones was AMAZING. It's a cheese tamale with two huge shrimp on top and it was covered in this amazing creamy seafood sauce, which I could have eaten by itself as a bowl of soup. The server was extremely nice. They aren't serving alcohol yet, but she gave me a beer from her person stash - on the house. She totally didn't have to do it, but just goes to show how kind the people are working there. Please give it a try!

We came across this place on google when we were looking for a Mexican place in the area. Excellent service! We all had the steak ranchero and the steak was SO tender and delicious. Guacamole was fresh and their aguas frescas are refreshing (we had tamarindo and horchata). Look forward to visiting again when I’m in Yonkers.

The food here is amazing and the service is great. The menu has items for everyone. If you’re seeking traditional items like enchiladas, or less traditional but popular faves like quesadillas, you will find it here. I love this place and have eaten already five times in a just a few weeks. I’ve had the bandera enchiladas, the elote, the tacos (al pastor), sopa, and agua frescas and they were amazing. My friend has the quesadillas and beef tacos and loved both. Prices are extremely fair, they could probably charge more actually bc the food is worth it. Definitely recommend a visit!

Amazing and surprisingly fresh well crafted dishes. The shrimp tamal was especially delicious. Everything is homemade, with care and expertise, I don’t know if you can go wrong here ordering. Really superb. We drive up to the area from time to time from NYC and never had much luck with restaurants until we stopped at this clean, cute, but unassuming restaurant tucked inside a strip mall beside a few box stores. Wow! We will be back! Very, very delicious, very fresh, excellent friendly service. Don’t miss this place.

My first visit to this Resturant and not my last. My sis and I had a late lunch and I ordered Tacos Al Pastor the meat was so tender and flavorful that it made my mouth water. The rice moist and beans were slamming. The server was very pleasant courteous and attentive to our needs. Do not hesitate to take your family for a great meal and a cost effective one too!

OMG! Just stumbled upon this place and it was DELICIOUS! The place was very clean. The workers were very kind and courteous. The menu was exceptionally large for a small restaurant. My family went there to celebrate a special occation. The place came highly recommened by a friend. The food, service and atmosphere was beyond expectation. I used to live in San Diego and would drive to Tijuana, Mexico for dinner. I have been living in ny for 9 years and have yet to come across a restaurant who's quality and food exceeds! It is true true authentic Mexican & their molé is out of this world. I asked the server about the molé and it turns out it comes straight from Mexico ( you can tell) I had such an amazing time with my gfs aside from the food being incredible the best thing in that restaurant is the gentleman who served us Mariano. Absolutely loved him! We will be loyal/ usual clients going fwd. 😊😊

I am hesitant and leaving a good review for this restaurant because I don’t want anyone else to know about it. I want to be able to go there anytime I want and not have to wait for a table but that’s not going to happen. The food here is ridiculous, fresh and delicious. my first option was the seafood ceviche, which took a while to come to the table but when I saw it, I understood why. It was made fresh. That’s right, the fish was cut fresh, sliced, seasoned and placed in the vinegar, red onion mixture, and allowed to “Cook” for a solid 10 minutes before being served. It was the most tender delicious item I’ve ever had and worth every minute that it took to go to the table. Which was fine, because I enjoyed one of their delicious margaritas, and their chips and salsa, which were heated before being served, which is usually never done, and the salsa also was delicious. My entrée was the Asada Oaxaquena which was ridiculous. It was packed with chicken, pork, shrimp, steak, chorizo, and cactus baked in a delicious and flavorful sauce. It came out fresh out of the oven, steaming hot, and I was still burning my mouth on its temperature after 20 minutes, and since I love eating my food hot, I was very very happy. It was served in this volcanic type of clay stone dish, (I really have no idea what it was), but it maintained the heat throughout the entire meal. It was actually still boiling five minutes after it was served. But when I packed up my leftovers because I could not finish it all, the leftovers were still warm in the take-out tray. This is my first time at this restaurant, and will not be my last as everything that came out of the kitchen was made to perfection and I’m sure they’re going to be in business for a long time. Do yourself a favor, and make a reservation , you’re going to need it 😊

This is a restaurant I didn’t even know was at the plaza is somewhat hidden. What’s crazy it’s the restaurant has an amazing staff. I enjoy their warm welcome. The food was amazing could not believe that there’s a restaurant like this in Yonkers. Will definitely come back.

Best mexican food I have ever had. Almost finished before thinking of pictures, so alas none taken. Their guacamole is freshly made and one of a kind. It will ruin all the others for you I could have made a meal of it. Given a small treat for desert, I have never received anything for free before. It was delicious. 😊 😃
