Reviews of Bread & Brine
Very delicious sea food! Oyster is on point, fresh and nice sauce. Lobster roll, crab roll both are great! Lobster mac and cheese is splendid. We also had perfect storm, a small basket of fried fish in batter, calamari, fried shrimp and fries, quite good!
The grilled fish was amazing!
If you are in the area there is a plant shop worth visiting.
Love coming here. Food is delicious and the atmosphere really adds charm to the whole experience. There's indoor dining and a small room for private events. Outdoor seating is nice on warmer days. Need to go back for happy hour. I was a bit disappointed by their Margarita cocktail. It was made with passion fruit but lacked more of the sweetness I expected. Perhaps they used too much ice on this go around. The New England clam chowder was delicious but there was an overwhelming amount of potatoes. Chunks could be smaller. Not enough of a downside to keep me from coming back though. The shrimp basket is always a home run. I can never finish all the fries. Municipal parking lot right outside and some shops to get out if you need to walk off a full stomach.
Lived up to the hype. Awesome food, relaxing outdoor space, great wait staff.
Would highly recommend if you are looking to fill your seafood cravings.
The baked clams appetizer along with the fried clams were outstanding. This place must make their own breading and it shows in the quality of the finished product.
We also thoroughly enjoyed the mussels, along with both the hot and cold lobster roll options.
A+ Highly Recommended
Delicious flavor, prices are on the higher end, and atmosphere is welcoming for a seafood restaurant. The new England clam chowder was fantastic. The service was great and friendly. Cash and credit are accepted. Meter parking only, there is a parking lot near the building. 10/2022
My first time taking a field trip to explore other parts of NY state! Took the train up to HOH for the lobster rolls at @breadandbrinehoh and it was such a nice half day trip! I can’t remember when’s the last time I had a proper lobster roll but this was so good 😊 I had the cold one so it wasn’t very buttery, but great for the summer heat. It was definitely a plus that the bread roll itself was yummy too 🤤 The storm basket had shrimps, squids, fish, and fries. Loved that it came with 4 different sauces so we could mix and match however we wanted. The seafood was good but the fries were too dry for me :/ At first I thought it might be too much for two people, but it was actually just about right!
The food was delicious! I’m from New Orleans, so it’s generally hard to impress me with seafood from other places. Although not nearly as spicy as we do here, the food was indeed delicious. I had the mussels as an appetizer and they were just phenomenal. It was my first time trying north east oysters, and it was different but delicious! Louisiana oysters taste like Louisiana lol, the oysters I had here had a sweeter, lighter almost fresher taste which was great! I did not realize the taste can vary so much by region. Overall great food, great craft beers, great service in a relaxed low key environment 👍🏻
B&B has been the go to spot in town since they opened. Great food, great drinks, great people and great vibes. Their private dinning space is incredibly special too. That cozy room has been the foundation of some of my fondest memories. I always feel transported to an oceanside town for the night when sitting around that large dinning table. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a space to celebrate.
Stopped by for lunch with some friends today and discovered a new favorite meal combo so I’m feeling inspired to spread the good word. No matter how delicious everything on the menu is (shout out to the mussels and rice bowl) that slow cooked turkey chili has my heart forever. Adding a fried egg and swapping the old bay fries (more like ol’ bae 💛) for rice were my switch ups of the day and what fueled my thumbs for this review. A+
P.s. they can get busy weekends so make a res if you can plan ahead
lively, great service, enjoyed the food, simple ingredients on the Baja Tacos (as it should be) flavor and light. Beautiful photos on walls. East Coast feel
Amazing clam chowder! Definitely come for that and their mussels. Lobster roll mp currently at 29. See pic for happy hour prices
Very nice restaurant with delicious seafood. We had branding, lobster roll, and some great appetizers. Highly recommend. We actually came to this place on a google review and it was definitely worth it.
We’ve been here twice over the last 6 months (we live 30min away) and food/service have been wonderful. They have their standard menu along with a pretty good list of specials. In addition to their standard shellfish dishes, you’ll always find at least one fish special. Fish was grilled perfectly each time.
Note: they also have non-seafood dishes which were also great.
We had a great experience at Bread & Brine. We ordered fried ipswich clams, fish tacos and fish & chips. The fish was hot, moist, tender. Nothing was greasy. Nice seasoning on the fries. The clams had good flavor as did the tacos. The nautical decor is fun, the service was exceptional. Today was our first visit. We look forward to returning to try more menu items!
The food at bread brine was very good as always. The oysters and dumplings were solid appetizers and of the entrees we ordered, the Buccatini was our favorite. I will say that the service was pretty unfriendly, which was unfortunate because we chose the place specifically for my husband’s birthday. I don’t know if it was because we had kids (they were very well behaved), but it really put a damper on the birthday dinner experience. Hopefully, just an aberration.
Great space. Fish and chips was nicely fried. I thought it could've been seasoned a little more. My friend said the lobster roll was really good. It looked like a generous portion of lobster. The clam strips were fried well and was a generous portion. We both really enjoyed the New England clam chowder. There was a generous portion of potato and clams. Great selection of beers and cocktails. They take precautions for indoor dining and have a few tables outside if you prefer. They have this really cute room thats sectioned off that would be great for an intimate gathering. Overall definitely worth trying.
I never was so amazed when I tasted the spring rolls they were the best & the chicken with Jasmine rice .I wish I could of given more stars
A nice little place in Hastings on Hudson.
The decoration is clean and simple with a sea fishing and fishes theme.
The cocktails are finely crafted.
The oysters are fresh and plush.
The linguine with clams are extraordinary: the best I have ever eaten with a deep broth flavor and a fresh sea zing.
The rubarb pie with strawberry icecream is round tasting and sophisticated at the same time.
The wine list is adequate and the beer one interesting.
A lovely place for a fresh simple sea food dinner.
We love every meal we have had here. A great staff is incredibly attentive and won extra points with the shark’s head cups.
Love the whole menu here, but my faves are the rice bowl with salmon, the BLAT (lobster BLavocadoT) and a surprise favorite, the calamari salad which just really pops here with the dressed cabbage lettuce. My husband adores the crispy brussel sprouts and my daughter even likes that dish.
Drinks here are good though I often go with the can of Fisher's Island hard lemonade, the bloody Marys are delish with one minor complaint that I prefer regular ice cubes in a cocktail than the shaved ice thing they do here. But the drink makes up for that small flaw.
Always delicious food. The oysters are fresh and served on a tray of ice. We had the dumplings (delicious), Chicken wings (well cooked and spicy) Stuffers (stuffed clams, executed perfect), old bay fries were great, the steamed rice with tuna poke was also delicious. Service has changed with the times but always friendly. I always enjoy going back and I look forward to my next meal.
Cute, fun nautical atmosphere even with nice outside picnic tables. The food was pretty good. Service was slow only because of the staffing shortage. Would go back again.
Its Massachusetts in hastings on hudson New york!
Friendly and prompt service in a lovely hudson river town.
Interesting shopping in the area and lots.of little quaint restaurants and wine bars. Look for the flea market that pops up near the train station.
Amazing experience! The food... OMG! The food! Every single thing I ordered was amazing! Cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. The vibe was laid back and the music was good. There were so many options to choose from it took 30 minutes for me to figure out what to get. We decided to share a few meals and they were all on point 👌🏾 The drinks were also spot on! The service was a bit slow but, I attribute that to my lack of not knowing exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend this establishment and if you are open to sharing, do it so you can try multiple items on the menu. I'll definitely be back!
If I did not have a previous great experience, this place would be over. The food last time was superb! I have not eaten today's order yet. Heading home to get to it, but I gotta tell you, the weird looking woman, with the tattoos and piercings, at the hospitality desk, in the front, was rude, obnoxious and her manners matched her ugly looking face. The Owners and Managers of Bread & Brine should get rid of her, she clearly does NOT, know anything about customer service, repeat customers or word of mouth advertising. All of the other servers, or wait staff were pleasant, she was downright rancid! Drop her now, she will chase people away. If tonight's food did not hold up, we're done! Well it turned out that the food held up. It was scrumptious, flavorful and very filling!!
Great ambiance. Lobster rolls are on point! I got the cold one, a friend got the hot one. Both were devoured. Their soups are great too. Not the cheapest place but if you order lobster, don't expect it to be cheap.
Went here for a late dinner (~7:15pm) and ended up staying past closing (8:30pm) and the staff was courteous and didn't make us feel like we needed to leave. Very convenient location in downtown Hastings right next to a municipal parking lot.
Don't forget even though this is a seafood restaurant the chef's Asian comfort food is awesome too - Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich is crispy and delicious, and the dumplings are too!
This was my second visit to Bread and Brine. My first visit was to try their fried clams. I got an appetizer portion to go. They gave me a very generous portion of the most delicious, perfectly cooked, very large clams. My very positive experience prompted me to order again. The second time I went I wanted to order the clams again but unfortunately they were out of them. They suggested the fried calamari appetizer in their place. I tried the fried calamari along with a Main style lobster roll. I also ordered a small New England style clam chowder and asked them to leave out as many potatoes as possible since I'm diabetic. The lobster roll was spot on. Good portion of lobster, perfectly toasted roll. The clam chowder's flavor was very good although I was a little disappointed in the amount of clams provided. The soup itself was a little on the thin side for my taste. But again, the flavor itself was excellent. The only clear loser in my order was the fried calamari. I'm sure it might have been excellent, but unfortunately after cooking they put it into a container with no vents, and sealed it. The result was a container full of soggy calamari. The calamari itself was very tender, but I really couldn't enjoy it because the breading was complete mush. I would definitely try it again as an in restaurant order, but as a takeout item it was no bueno.
I love this gem! It feels like New England in Hastings. (think Maine or Cape Cod). It's a seafood place so not many options for vegans (if you are listening, it would be great to have a vegan entree to choose from!) but we love their Brussel sprouts and the cocktails are great. For now, it's a happy hour/before dinner place for us!
Always so delicious here and the vibe is friendly - whether you're on a date or with the little ones.
We ordered the salmon rice bowl, lobster sandwich, stuffed and street corn. AMAZING!!!
I woke up Saturday morning craving a lobster roll. I didn't want to travel to New England so I google searched the closest place to me. I couldn't have been happier to have found Bread & Brine. The food and service was Excellent! To my surprise they also had my second favorite. "STEAMERS" OMG. THE SIZES WERE OUTSTANDING AND OF COURSE DELICIOUS. Our new go to restaurant within a cute town and lovely drive
Nice ambiance for Sunday brunch. A good selection of seafood based menu items, my favorite being the calamari salad
Want to love this place and I do for the oysters but other than that the service is inattentive, the rest of the menu is just OK and the music playing is great if you are 16, during the seventies, stoned out of your mind. What are they thinking? Keep returning to find a better B&B but not happening.
Nice atmosphere, good oysters and lobster roll. Avoid the crabcake sandwich
This is better than every other place I've given 5 stars to. The grilled fish tacos are life changing. 6/5
Lovely local restaurant with a cosy vibe. This is the third time visiting and the staff are always friendly and attentive. The wings are so nice and the cornbread is to die for.
Great place. I had the crab cake and my wife had the fish sandwich. Both were delicious The key lime dessert and sundae were also very tasty. Looking forward too going back and trying out everything else on the menu.
I went here today around 1 hour before closing and it was busy. Upon arrival they said all out of oysters which was a huge bummer but I stayed anyhow. I live right down the road and never tried this place so I figured I’d get something. Got the mussels fra diavolo which were tasty but I was annoyed that most of the beards were not removed - never seen a restaurant do this before kinda gross. Also ordered a Buffalo chicken sandwich. On the website they show a bun with 3-4 big pieces of chicken but the reality was a tiny bun with ONE strip of chicken on it for $10. The service was slow and the servers didn’t seem to want to be there. Maybe it was a bad day who knows.
First time there. Loved everything about this place. The server was great and made great food recommendations.
Pricey but absolutely delicious. Funny thing is what I remember about the place was their yummy dumplings. It's a family recipe and I highly recommend. I also recommend eating it with small amounts of vinegar or Tabasco ;) you won't regret it unless you hate mushroom or pork.
To be honest nothing bad happened and I was there for a family celebration. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because the food was very basic and wasn't thrilling in any way. The servers were on point and super friendly.
Personable and amazing bartender coming out with killer drinks while the kitchen is putting out food that spreads the gamut from lighter fare to rich portion while all being quite tasty!
This place is one of my favorites to go to have vegeterian rice bowl (really good) and golden onion rings (must have). My husband loves the salt box burger plus the beers are nice and cold. Its casual, its really good and their food is awesome.
This is such a cute little place with somewhat of a hipster atmosphere. I dined on a Sunday night, so it wasn’t super crowded. Service was good and the food to table time was decent. I had the Maine style lobster roll which was almost as good as ones I’ve had in Maine. I tasted my family’s dishes and they were equally as delicious. I’m not a big oyster fan, but I’ve heard good things about them. Their dessert menu is luscious.
I think I tried everything on the menu :) and everything is delicious. The margaritas are also great, although the "double margarita" has wildly inconsistent size from day to day.
This was my first time taking out from this restaurant. The calamari was one of the best I've had. The clam chowder was also delicious. The staff was courteous and took steps to make sure that my order was prepared with care.
So thrilled to have a real oyster bar right in our backyard. Top quality oysters, seafood and more. The entire menu is thoughtfully planned and executed making this an easy go-to for my family. The atmosphere is lively and energetic and the service is spot-on. I’ve come here on many occasions with family and friends and it’s always been a hit. Good job.
Loved the New England-inspired menu. Lots of fresh fish and seafood. Tried a whole bunch of small plates and oysters. We got the clam chowder and Lobster French onion soup, both of which were amazing and uniquely prepared. If you're not a seafood guy, the chicken wings were crisp and tasty. The decor is comfortably fancy and modern. Great beer and cocktail menu as well.
Love this place! This space used to be known as a somewhat cursed restaurant spot. But so happy the owners turned the curse around. The menu is small but amazing. The lobster roll, bread, oysters and tuna burgers are some of the freshest I’ve tasted. You really feel like you’re in a montauk-like seafood shack. Homey and kid friendly, and great happy hour.
Good place to eat and drink and the place is perfect and people friendly and great food and drinks 🍸 😋 👌 😊
Excellent food
Friendly atmosphere and help
This use to be a better place to eat but now you have to stand on line to order your food, get a number and wait like a fast food restaurant. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was obvious they over used the oil and over cook my fried chicken. I really liked this place and hope they can turn this poor service model around.
as a oyster lover i love coming to this restaurant! kids also happen to like their butter sauce pasta so it's a win win for everyone. wait staffs are friendly and helpful. oh, and the happy hour rate for drinks and oysters are great deal!
Great service, the waiter was right on top of things. Food was looked as good as it tasted.
Always delicious -- and we go there a lot. I've never had a meal here that I didn't love. Try the clam chowder (possibly the best I've ever had), the linguine with clams, the beef and broccoli, and I could go on. Staff are super friendly!
Great to see someone bring a proper oyster bar to NY. They are few and far between here. Oysters were fresh and tasted like the ocean, unlike what you get at most restaurants in and around the City. Lobster roll is up there with any I've had. Their take on NE clam chowder was wonderful; where most restaurants nowadays serve a bowl of cream with some potatoes and clams, this dish was more akin to how people used to make it (a clam broth playing the starring with only a bit of cream added and the heartiness coming from the vegetables and clams). Was pleasantly and unexpectedly surprised by the house specialty bread served with lobster butter. Don't usually like "lobster-flavored" food, but this tasted like the buttery end of a lobster roll. Hard not to love. Great beer menu and cocktails, too.
Bread & Brine is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is very simple, delicious, and fresh. Some of the fare is classic seafood, and some of it's really inventive, like the Chinese-influenced dishes. I'm also glad that they have finally come up with a way to have a successful restaurant in a space that has had a string of failures. The only slight drawback is that it's a little pricey. So when I go, it's a real treat.
Love this place. I go at least once every two weeks. They have a great happy hour menu and the staff is super friendly! My favorite dish is the rice bowl, highly recommend.
What a find. We were looking for a place that had seafood with flair... we found it. Thanks for a great evening of seafood and starters. Staff was awesome - owner even came by to say hi. Worth the trip.
had two recent experiences at bread and brine. a few months ago had a great semi-private dinner in their back room. it was quite a satisfying night to enjoy their lobster dinner. staff was attentive and food tasted great. then more recently ordered some fresh fish from their post-covid seafood market. their seafood purveyor has some great tasting fresh fish. as soon as more places like this open up in lower westchester, it will no longer be known as a foodie siberia (unlike brooklyn, from where i moved)
Unfortunately our experiences here are very inconsistent. I will say service is always really great. But the clam chowder has gone from the best we’ve had to the worst we’ve had and back again a few times. Flavor and thickness always varies.
The Lobster Roll is one of the better lobster rolls I had in the city and Currently rate it #1 within/around the NYC region. Their crispy brussel sprouts are delectable. If you can get their dumplings, get em (they are a sleeper hit). One wouldn't think their dumplings would be amazing but they are.
We love the food, the people, and the atmosphere! We are pretty much Friday night regulars. Last night we had the most delicious take out lobster dinner!
Annette & Larry Candido
Really expensive. I expected that as its Hastings. Food good. Outdoor dining faces main road or parking lot. Pick your poison. It's suburbia. Lots of SUVs.
All I have to say is amazing 👏
Food quality was good. Service was good too.
One of the best spots in Westchester. Fantastic food, incredible service and atmosphere. Just 3 minutes walk from Hastings on Hudson station: worth getting the train up from the city for. Highly recommended.
GREAT food, service, and setting. I have never had a bad meal here - the food is incredible. Prices are a little high but not for the quality and flavor that you are getting. Well worth it!
Friendly service, atmosphere, drinks are good, stars on the menu were octopus, ceviche, fish tacos, clam chowder, linguine with clam sauce. Lobster rolls were good, but not my favorite.
Excellent service with gluten free options with outside seating. Food was very good.
Great place is Hastings for a date night. They do trivia on Thursday’s which is pretty cool. The staff and the guy who does trivia are awesome. Would make a return trip back.
Looks like a shed on New England coast, the seafood was fresh and well prepared. Even the dessert was well done.
Love the decor and had a tasty lobster roll!
The meal on Christmas Eve was delicious. I live in Maine and can appreciate the Chef's choices. Prepared and served with expertise. Thank you for the experience.
Tasty food however the prices are to high in my opinion for the decorations and food quality.
Lobster salad was amazing. The oysters are fresh. Nice location.
Great spot with delicious seafood, their fried chicken box was out of this world. The takeout ordering/pick up process efficient, everything was hot and ready within the timeframe.
We took my 93 year old mother here for her birthday. She lives across the street and even though she had take out from Bread and Brine the night before, she wanted to go again.
I had the salt box burger for my main entree. It was delicious but the clam strips were a little too salty.
One of the best places to eat seafood in Westchester, let alone Hastings. Small menu, but it makes up with most items being worth trying out. Recommend the tuna burger.
The food is incredible. It was so good we went back two days later. Very quaint and casual atmosphere. You can't leave without trying the cornbread.
I only had a glass of wine and a bowl of clam chowder. A blustery windy night did not touch such a warm blanket of goodness. The servers are proud of their workplace too.
Very nice place for date night, great food and service. Love their oyster selection. Staff is professional and clean. Great raw bar.
Great staff, food, and atmosphere.
Amazing spot. Apps were incredible. Great New England Clam Chowder.
The clam chowder is the best I’ve ever had! Very light cream broth, large chunks of clams, chives, potatoes and a perfect rectangle of cornbread! YUM!
If you love seafood including lobster rolls and oysters, this is the place for you!
Wish the food was as bad as the service... Always late. But sadly, the food is terrific enough for me to eventually forget them leaving me outside waiting for 15-20 minutes past the curbside order time, every time, and I go back...
GREAT PLACE FOOD IS ALWAYS FRESH THE DESSERT IS ALSO A MUST TRY. GREAT ATMOSPHERE INSIDE
Great food, great service, and great ambience. Oysters are tops.
Best lobster roll, and freshest seafood in Westchester! Attentive, friendly service with a great vibe. Welcome to Hastings on Hudson!
My favorite restaurant in town. They have the staples but also some interesting items if you want a change.
Great lunch spot and good service
This is the place to go! I can eat their food all day every day. And their cocktails are fabulous too!
Relaxing atmosphere, great lobster rolls, a very good take on baked clams.
Fresh, creative and tasty menu. Friendly staff and excellent service. Fun atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!
Fresh seafood, but absolutely lacking in seasoning. Unlikely to go back.
It was cool. The cocktails are unique. Sat at the bar and watched the bartender make different drinks. The bartender was really nice.
Delicious! Generous portions, great staff and atmosphere. Looking forward to going here again for seafood fix.
Fresh food, great atmosphere & friendly staff. I always get the poke and sit outside weather permitting.
Excellent addition to the Rivertowns. Seafood is very fresh. Small place though so make a reservation.
Great food. Rice bowl was good, but best calamari I've had in a long time.
Great place to dine, service was good. I like the food. I especially love the lobster roll lost of lobster meat
Excellent food & service!
Delicious food and fast service. Cute outside, dock-like parking lot seating.
Fresh fish, generous portions and friendly service!
We've tried 3/4 of the menu including specials. Go there hungry, appetizers and sides are great.
The fish tacos were tasty but I immediately started craving pickles when my friend brought up the name.
Nice service terrific calamari salad, cod fish tacos, ne clam chowder needs more clams but light and tasty.
First time here. Loved everything about the place. Food cooked to perfection and reasonably priced.
Great raw/ fresh oysters
Lobster roll with butter was very good.
Delicious fresh lobster roll arms dumplings.
The fried Korean chicken sandwich was amazing!
Overpriced..$14 for a glass of wine..ok it was good wine , but .... Food portions just small for the money.
This place is delicious. Everything was wonderful. Especially the clam chowder.
This place is great, food is good and the service is always on point.
Lovely room and fantastic staff. Great selection of oysters
Delicious food, nice ambiance. Its a little costly, but you get what you pay for.
Great Sunday lunch! Surprisingly good chicken sandwich at a seafood restaurant!
Great food. Fun bar that can get quite loud at peak times.

Always a yummy bite, always great service. We drift into here as a family every few weeks and get clam chowder, kale Caesar, calamari, burger, fish and chips, etc. Everything is off the hook. Their key lime parfait is the reel legend.
It was a delicious, fresh 🦞 seafood valentine prefix. Pleasant service and clean store I will come again.
