Hands down favorite lunch spot in Wichita. Their tomato bisque is the best I've ever had, and the Chef's Club sandwich is flavorful and unique with the Gorgonzola sauce. Homemade iced tea also hits the spot, Always stop in on my trips to Wichita for a pleasant lunch

Soup is fantastic! Went to get Chicken Tortilla, but they were out. Opted for Tomato Basil, but also out. Tried the Corn Chowder... It was amazing and will be on my rotation from now on! Wonderful employees.. fun store!

This was my first time here. I ordered a big chile verde soup and Coca-Cola. We seated ourselves. There were no tables available inside. The first two tables on the patio were extremely wobbly. We sat at the picnic table. After 10 minutes they came out and said they were out of the soup I ordered. I chose tomato. That was tasty. Unfortunately none of us were offered refills on our drinks. I heard really good things about this place. The food was good but the service was very poor.

I am obsessed with the tomato curry soup served on Fridays. Usually get a large and take some home. It is AMAZING. Staff is super friendly but yesterday I was disappointed in how a friend of mine with her baby was treated. Her daughter was fussing and she let her down on the floor to stand for a moment. She took a few steps towards the expo area. We totally would have grabbed her if she made it any closer to the kitchen. An employee stopped and curtly said ‘We have 200 degree soups coming through here, we can’t have her down there, you need to pick her up.’ I agree with the reasoning and need for safety, but the manner in which it was conveyed was so blunt and like a switch was flipped. We were taken aback, no longer felt comfortable and left immediately. There’s always a way to communicate something kindly, even when people are unintentionally inconveniencing you.

My son called me and wanted to to try this place for lunch. I was hesitant as I picture a cafeteria type place w old lady’s in hair nets. After going, let’s just say.. Meddys and Panera are no longer in my vocab if this place is open! Hands down the best place ever for soup. I had the tomato soup and pasta salad. Both were absolutely delicious. My son had a sandwich of some sort that had blueberry bbq sauce. He loved his food as well. Then he decided he wanted to try a cookie and ordered one to split between us. You would never know it was gluten free! You guys rock and are now my go to!! Thank u so much!

They ran out of the soup I ordered after I ordered and had to change what I ordered 45 min into waiting. Sandwhich was great. I had the Milano. Tomato bisque that I ended up switching to. It was really tasty too.

What a freakin’ awesome place to do lunch! I was only in town for the day but I had looked this place up before arriving and drove straight to it. Unique and high quality soups, sandwiches and salads. I had the Cleopatra and a bowl of shrimp chowder. I was offered samples of other soups and provided info on what locals like. The service was fantastic from everyone, the greens were fresh and crisp. The chicken was cooked well and the chowder was to die for! I wish I had this place in my home town! The prices were fair and with water as a drink I was full and happy for just over $13. Portions are healthy and plentiful. The place was packed but I didn’t have to wait long for food. These folks got service down! Give it a TRY! You will be back. So nice to find good food when on the road! Thanks to the whole crew at Tanya’s!!

Decent place, in the middle of busy downtown Wichita, KS, by Douglas Street so a lot of traffic. The food was surprisingly good, the people friendly. The restaurant has cool plant decorations. The room, seating is limited.

We dropped in during a recent visit to Wichita and we’re blown away! Incredible sandwiches highlighted by the chicken salad and club. Soup of the day was a perfect compliment, and the staff were beyond nice. I can’t wait to go again!!!

Great lunch spot off Douglas, I went with the Cindy the boy and the Apple chutney was amazing. The pasta salad wasn’t my favorite it had a little too much dressing for my liking but definitely get it and try it cause it was different. Of course you can’t go wrong with the soups as well all delicious!

Great views good location. Very popular with the younger crowd A bit on the hippie side, if you like that sort of thing. Very relaxed, nice outdoor dining area and indoor dining area. I enjoyed the beef sandwich on ciabatta bread, with clam chowder. Usually I'm not a fan of the red clam chowders. But the soup and sandwich were excellent. Top 50 to visit in this city.

It was good. Kinda pricey and over the phone they said a sandwich comes with the small soup, ($6.50), so I was like sick!!! A sandwich and soup for 6.50!! So i decided to upgrade to a medium soup for $3.50 extra. So I was thinking $10+ dollars for a soup and sandwich; ok! But when I got there, it rang up for $16. The lady at the register tried to explain to me some jibber jabber about how it all works; nah…your words were: “a sandwich comes with the small soup.” So, stick to what u said and don’t try to change things up later to make a quick buck. Sooo…good? Sure. Going back? Probably not. ✌🏼

I absolutely love this place. It’s a comforting atmosphere, the staff is always friendly, and the food is fantastic. The restaurant is local too so you can’t get this anywhere else; definitely a gem of Wichita. However since it is the only one and the hours are limited, it can get real busy and real packed. But back to the food, the soups are extremely delicious. They change it daily I believe so it’s a nice variety each time. Their food is made fresh when served which is another plus. They also make amazing sandwiches too! The food isn’t quite expensive but it’s also not cheap. I do think it is the right price for the quality it has so definitely worth it. The photo attached is about $11 if I remember correctly. And lastly, I’ve never had a bad experience here. I’m always greeted with smiles and I always feel welcomed. A comforting place, for sure. This restaurant is probably one of my all time favorites. Definitely give it a shot if you haven’t already!

We had heard this place was good and it didn't disappoint us! Our group had a Reuben sandwich, the chicken sandwich, the vegetable Stew, the seafood chowder, and the potato salad. All were great. Staff were very courteous and helpful!

I got there just before they open and there was already a line waiting to get in. I ordered carryout and it was ready fairly quick. I got small portions of the salad special and soup as well as the bread pudding. The salad was delicious and fairly big for a "small." The soup and bread pudding was good! I really enjoyed it.

One of the best places in Wichita to go for lunch. Their soups are amazing and super filling. They also freeze well so if you live out of town stock up and freeze them before hitting the road! Beware it gets very busy at lunch time. Go on Wednesday for the chicken curry soup!

Tried the tomato bisque soup, and it was very good. Paired it with a roast beef sandwich; an excellent combo. The place has kind of a "trendy ladies tea room" vibe going, but good food and a quiet atmosphere are a nice blend for lunch conversation. After my first taste of the soup, I stopped muttering the phrase "chick place" to get a reaction from my wife, and started really enjoying the lunch.

I've eaten here twice and love what I've had so far. Cindy the Boy is *delicious* and they've had cold soup options both times I've gone (late June and July). Staff is friendly and willing to look up ingredients in foods if they don't already know (helpful for food allergies or trying to avoid certain things).

This was my first time in. Cute little place, just hit lunch rush and couldn't find an open table so ended up getting my meal to go. Good food a little different soup then I expected but definitely yummy. Anytime I am down town I will come back in hopefully when it's not so busy and be able to stay and soak in the environment a little.

Tanya's was conceived by one of the best people I ever knew. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is charming and the people are beautiful souls. The only complaint I could possibly make about Tanya's is that it's so popular that it can be hard to get in sometimes. I heartily recommend everything on the menu at Tanya's Soup Kitchen!

Tanya's soup kitchen has great sandwiches and soups. I usually get there club sandwich and a soup. I really love there tomato bisque soup. Service is good. If you do not like advocados on your club sandwich you can just ask them not to put them on and you will be good to go!

Found TSK online while on the road. Called ahead, order was ready for pick-up when we got there. Loved being greeted as "hon" by the SUPER FRIENDLY guy at the counter! Sandwiches were good (get a whole) but let's talk about the potato salad! I am usually hesitant to order potato salad out unless I can see it first. That mushy, mustardy, yellow-y stuff packed with pickle relish 🤮 or celery 🤮🤮 makes me gag. TSK's new-potato salad was INCREDIBLE! Creamy without being overly mayonnaised with I'm not sure what seasonings (perfect!) and what I think was parmesan cheese!!! SO GOOD!!! Then to see it's LGBTQIA2+ friendly...made my liberal heart so happy in the middle of KS! Thrilled to support this local business on our drive through and have an infinitely-better-than-nasty-fast-food and scrumptious lunch!!

I got the half reuben with the little tomato curry soup and it was delicious. My friend who usually hate pasta salad got it as good side and actually liked it. The patio was well covered and there was a great breeze coming through. I don't live in town but this place is at the top of my list

The only bummer is that they are only open certain times of the day, so I only get to visit on days I happen to be off. They have some great sandwiches, soups, and salads. The staff are super nice and the decor is very unique. For a cool vibe and fairly cheap delicious food definitely would recommend!

There is always something tasty on the menu for vegans and vegetarians as well as those of us that want to try something new. Try the cold soup if you want to cool off on a hot day. Very busy place for Saturday afternoon. There was 5 of us together. We offered to break up into two groups of 2 and 3. They said no wait just a few minutes to and we will have a table for 5. That is just what they did. The food was outstanding. I had a great broccoli and cauliflower soup. Everyone else had sandwiches and soup. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was outstanding.

I frequent this place. They have a different soup selection every day, and every soup I've had has been wonderful. Love this chicken and noodle with mashed potatoes on top! Cozy little place. The service was friendly and efficient. Tried the gumbo and it was fantastic. Excellent flavor with just a little bit of heat. Seating was limited and the place is very popular. Luckily we arrived there before it got busy. However, we felt guilty lingering after finishing our meals because there was a line of people and only a couple of empty seats. So, we made it a short lunch. Definitely recommend.

Amazing! I can't say enough good things about this place. New homemade soups every single day, usually interesting or exotic flavors but all are usually excellent. Great sandwiches and salads. I've tried many things on the menu and they have all been amazing. They carry vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options but you don't need to desire any of those options to enjoy all of their food. They post their soups daily on their Facebook page.

Found out about this place from a local shortly after moving to Wichita. It immediately became one of my favorite lunch spots. I've never had anything that didn't taste great - sandwich, salad, or soup. The soups change regularly (maybe daily?) but there are always a couple of different choices. They also have vegetarian options available and called out which is nice. Lots of choice and some unique, interesting combinations available for salads and sandwiches. It has a sad and interesting back story which is part of the local fabric and lore of the area. Parking is free and easy to find. Every time I've gone there is a line but the wait time to order and get your food has never been very long. I've also never had a problem getting a seat, but in the winter I could see where there would be times that this could be an issue. If the weather is nice, the outdoor seating can be good but a little loud.

Large open space, modern, clean restaurant serving mostly healthy foods such as soups and salads. They also have sandwich items. My wife and I each had a "large" bowl of shrimp chowder. Very good but large and rich. We couldn't finish them. Would certainly go back again and recommend to others.

Great food, friendly staff. The chicken curry on Wednesdays is probably my favorite dish. They do a good bread pudding too. Call ahead and have your lunch ready to pick up for a quick workday break.

Great locally sourced ingredients made with care. They mostly have sandwich, salad and soup options. I have not tried them all but what I have had has always been great. When eating here you can tell that the chef's take pride in creating food that not only utilizes fresh local ingredients but also pleases the palate. The homemade potato salad is by far the best I've ever had.

It's very sad the original owner of these recipes passed away but this is just an incredible place if you enjoy soup. They do have limited lunch and afternoon hours so check before you go. Definitely a Wichita staple among local favorite restaurants. I would highly recommend.

Delicious. Love love soup, so a place that revolves around soup, YES PLEASE! Get's busy during lunch time, they are a popular spot, but there's a lot of seating inside, and if the weather is nice go out on the patio. Super cute. Everything I've had here has been awesome, the soups, sandwiches, everything. New soups daily, all sorts, I have no idea how they come up with all these choices. Other than maybe soup sorcery? (Joking!) Helpful and very friendly staff. Very convenient location with plenty of parking. If you are visiting Wichita, this place comes highly recommended from just about everyone. Pretty much everything Wichita is about: delicious food, friendly people, and a strong community!

over 9 bucks for a medium chicken noodle soup and iced tea. you pay first then find your own table often filled with crumbs. service ok but soup pretty good but not sure if its really worth what they charge. Ambiance was a bit loud but what do you expect for a crowded room. I'm definitely putting this on my 'will come back' list.

Absolutely loved the soup and salad combination I got. While busy, the service was quick. The ingredients used are top quality and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too expensive. They have lots of variety and the soups change daily. All of it was very fresh and light. An excellent stop for lunch near Old Town.

I really liked this place! Friendly staff, very good food and nice atmosphere. I tried a small bowl of their bacon shrimp corn chowder and it was delicious. The only complaint I have is that it was not hot enough temperature wise. I also tried their Reuben sandwich wich I thought was very good. I would just say I wish the bread was grilled to toasted. Other than that I do recommend Tanya's and I will visit again!

Everything here is delicious and made with love. My favorites are the chicken curry and tomato curry soup- both are HEAVENLY. They also have sandwiches bursting with different flavors, and fresh salads with delicious croutons. The bread pudding and fruit crisp are delicious. They always have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices and offer dinner specials with live music on the weekends. *Pro Tip: Get there right at 11 to avoid the line, which soon becomes quite long. Or, place a to-go/pick up order, and skip the line.

OUTSTANDING. Line was long when we got there but it moved at a decent pace with friendly but efficient service at the counter. It seems they have a variety of soups each day. LOVE the idea of a soup flight. My soup and salad were top notch and were great portion sizes for the price. Fresh ingredients make fantastic food.

Really great lunch food; unique twists on common items. I had a chicken salad salad, and the lemon vinaigrette was delicious. I’m particular about dressings since I make them from scratch myself. I was also impressed with the potato salad, which contains my favorite ingredient, tarragon. While you’re here, pop over to Hopping Gnome brewery...they have amazing brews, customers, and staff.

My favorites are.. the Delilah chicken sandwich, Cleopatra salad, Chicken curry, and tomato soup. The pasta salad as a side is excellent as well, but I've never had anything bad here. You can tell the food is always made fresh and not pre- made shipped in from somewhere else. My go to eatery when I want something healthy and delicious!!

This is a Wichita treasure. The staff are wonderfully friendly and attentive. The atmosphere, while a bit tight quarters, is bright and inviting. However, the hand crafted artisinal soups and sandwiches are what make this place a veritable lunch time Mecca for many in the downtown Wichita area. If there's a line, (and there often is at lunch) don't be discouraged. It is well worth a small wait for any of the menu items here.

But you better READ the menu correctly, because in all of culinary history, instead of 'going with the flow' and using the traditional V for vegan, THEY use VEG to signify vegan and V to signify vegetarian.... Which is fine, I guess, if you don't have a dairy allergy. My entire order being backwards and all things I couldn't eat. They're very, VERY busy, but they still found the time to get me another side. I originally had the potato salad... I took a bite before I realized it had cheese in it. It was AMAZING, of course .... I was subbed for the pasta salad, and it's much less than amazing. Don't go during any semblance of a potentially busy time if you have sensory overload issues. It is quaint, packed, and LOUD. Order to go if you can. You will still have to stumble through a long line of people, but at least you'll spend less time going deaf. 🤷‍♀️

Rainy weather blues were totally cured by a Croquadille and tomato dill bisque. Super friendly staff, a little querky. Very fast even over the lunch hour. A little pricey, but a really nice atmosphere and most importantly tasty food. Also, portions are good, not enormous (which is a good thing) but filling. I waited way too long to try Tanya's out!

Counter service was pleasant, friendly, and fast. Menu questions were handled capably. Order was filled swiftly and delivered promptly. The half sandwich and soup option is on the expensive side for Wichita ($10). Tomato & basil soup was good but not gourmet (see price), the half sandwich had more meat than I expected. Not a perfect Reuben, but satisfying nonetheless with a nice tang from the prepared slaw & dressing, although I wish it were made in house. Will certainly be back.

We’re in the middle of a cross country road trip and after two days of road food all I wanted was a salad. Stopped in and had the cleopatra salad, the caprese blt special, and the chickpea stew with rice. Everything was delightful (and the ciabatta bread was especially impressive.) We felt so lucky to find this place and to be able to get back on the road with delicious and nutritious food filling our bellies. Ten points, five stars, my compliments to the chef, and if the road ever again takes us through Wichita, we’ll be back.

SOLID place for soups. obviously via the name lol. I think its just a place for me i sometimes forget about but then will remember it and automatically am in the mood for some soups. Lately however whenever I go im disappointed in the sandwich I get never really hits the spot is either not very flavorful or just dry. The ELLA Salad is one of my favorites!!! The apricot dressing, and chicken salad on top is absolutely delicious (if you like a sweet and tangy salad) its not normally a salad I would get at other places but here its a favorite for me!! Whenever I go I must just go during busy hour but the lines practically almost to the door. It moves pretty quick though and is well worth it!! Order smart and get a soup or the soup flight to sample them all! hahaha I REALLY want to try their banana pudding though I keep telling myself Im going to but still havent, stay tuned hahaha

I'd had always had this local spot on my list of places to try but because I'm not exactly a sandwich and soup kind of girl I had put it off in favor of something a little more hearty. So finally I decided that I needed to give it a shot. I ordered the caprese sandwich with a side of pasta salad. My BF ordered the club sandwich with a side of curry tomato bisque soup. Everything was incredible. The caprese sandwich was fantasic, the tomatoes were fresh, the lettuce was crisp, the mozzarella was prefect, it was incredible. The curry tomato bisque was some of the best I've ever had. Incredible!

This place is a little gem! Panera Bread wishes they could be so good as Tanya's. I ordered the City Chicken sandwich, which was fantastic. Alongside, I ordered the Chicken Tortilla soup, which is simply the best tortilla soup ever. My wife got the Croquedille, which was like grilled cheese on steroids, alongside the potato salad.
