Mi amor and I have not experienced to many places we would come back to. Very friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere with a twist of the vibe that hints a night on the town. Food was an amazing delight melt in your mouth with the most tasty blend of flavors. We couldn't be more pleased to come here and enjoy our day. We will definitely be coming back.

Small restaurant on south side of wichita looks like a lil whole in the wall but clean and it has looks of a restaurant vibe. Inside was nice and had that authentic Mexican vibe and decor. Service was fast and friendly. Had the actual owner wait and serve us which was nice. Suoer friendly and can tell he takes pride in what he does and how he treats others. It was just a lil lunch date for the wife and I while we shop for our Halloween costumes. The wife ended up choosing chicken chimichanga with a side salad and we both shared some chili con queso for an app. I ordered a cactus style carne asada burrito. Hands down best burrito I've had in awhile steak was juicy seasoned perfectly the flavors of everything and the sauce and cheese just flowed perfectly. We will be back for sure.

Daniel is so nice and the food is terrific. I love family owned restaurant and this one is a keeper. The margaritas are outstanding and Daniel keeps them flowing. I love the carnitas, enchilada combo with beef chicken cheese and green chili (its red) over the top!. The chimney is great with pork cheese sauce but try it with green chili over the top.

Incredible food. Fajitas flaming on the plate. The combination plate was incredible! Queso was 👌 Daniel is the best. Wish I lived here, I would be here often! 2500 miles through CO, NM, AZ and TX in the last 5 days eating Mexican all along the way, and this is the best mix of flavor. Not the hottest, I loke thay too, but good mix of heat and flavor. Excellent work 👏 Margaritas...wow.

I am giving this a three because the food is absolutely delicious, however when it came time to pay the bill, Saturday, July 16th, I asked for the bill and then I asked if they had a military discount (which I have received multiple times eating here.) The gentleman who took my payment said they had one, but there was no one there to authorize the discount. I said okay and made the payment. I wouldn't even be making this post if the gentleman in question hadn't been the owner of the restaurant. I knew who he was, I've spoken with him many times...and his face is on the door. If you don't want to give the discount, just say so, but to lie to my face just rubbed me the wrong way. And so despite how good the food is, I don't plan on ever going back after the way the owner looked me in the eye and lied to my face.

The only reason they get a 3 star rating from me is because, I went in for lunch by myself and was great with its just you? It Made me feel a little embarrassed. That and I didn't care for the chips being cold instead of hot. Other then that it was fast and delicious I got the beef chimichonga and would order again. Just dnt greet people with its just you? Kinda rude to me.

The Cactus Cantina has very good food! The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. You really must try the con queso. It is the real deal and the chips are freshly made in the restaurant. Everyone in my party of 4 had different dishes and they were all excellent! The servers are very personable and attentive. Great food and drinks. I had an amazing experience and the staff was friendly. Much more authentic than many Mexican restaurants although they do mostly use flour tortillas so be aware if you prefer corn!

Had Christmas Eve lunch with my family here and we had a few drinks. They have great margaritas. Pretty potent though. We had a lot of fun. Very family friendly. My daughter was running around the restaurant with her cousins because it wasn’t too busy. The food is also very good I had some tacos and they were great. Their rice and beans are also very good. I will definitely be back to visit again. Had a lot of fun and they always take great care of you. Service was amazing. They are very nice. Should definitely check it out if you havnt yet!

Their fajitas are excellent and the chips and salsa were very good. Maybe a little spicy for some people and it's not the biggest place so when its busy it feels a little cramped. I would definitely come back.

Very straight forward menu made to perfection. Homemade chips and salsa you have to be careful not to fill yourself with because yes they are that good. I have tried a couple different dishes and left very full and satisfied. Very friendly and personable staff. This is a great place for lunch or dinner.

Food was above average but not as wonderful as everyone claims. Queso was good but was not hot. Was excited to try the Margaritas after reading all of the reviews but was extremely disappointed. Strawberry frozen margarita tasted like plastic and extremely artificial tasting flavor wise. My wife had an original Margarita on the rocks and was very disappointed as well. Far from the best in town for sure.

I love Mexican food and this place/Daniel the owner does it right. I make sure to visit at least once anytime I'm in town. The fried beef tacos are my favorite find so far. Something I never would have ordered myself at a Mexican restaurant, but now absolutely love are the chicken fajita loaded fries appetizer... give them a whirl, you won't regret it.

I only wish that the owners of this establishment would open up a Cactus Cantina & Grill in Hutchinson Kansas so that there was a restaurant closer to where I live. They would definitely give El Patrillo a run for their money and definitely blow Playa Azule out of the water.

Been here a couple different times after reading about it on the Wichita's top 50 eating spots. I've gotten the flaming fajitas for 2 and a margarita every time and I've NEVER been let down. That isn't even the best part. The owner is what makes the experience memorable. Very friendly and always wanting to make sure you had good experience. No rushing to get you out, just all around great local business in Wichita. Cactus Cantina is a must try if you are wanting good food and a great experience eating out.

Ask daniel for his special margaritas! Btw get a pitcher of them. Never had a margarita so good. His food recipes are to die for as well. We have yet to have a bad experience. 1 to 5pm are slow so if you dont want to wait enjoy during these hours. Never fails on a friday or saturday u might have to wait a min. This restaurant isn't as flavorful as people rave it to be, but I understand why they are so popular. The management is welcoming and the owner makes you feel at home. It's a seat yourself kind of atmosphere. Everything is around $5-$15, depending on what you choose. We got two entrees the beef fajita and the deep fried tacos, (rice, beans included in entrees), queso dip and an extra basket of chips all for $35, Tip included. Their salsa was probably my favorite. I didn't really enjoy the beef fajita, it was too oily, salty and really lacked spices. My husband enjoyed his entree but agreed that my entree wasn't as flavorful as we expected a beef fajita to be. We might go again, but I'm more likely to go to a small hole in the wall Mexican restuarant for the flavor than the Catus for it's dine in atmosphere.

Do you ever order a plate of nachos and eat the top layer and end up with just a plate of chips? I assure you, you'll have no such problem here. And when you're done eating you'll probably want to lick the queso off the bottom of the plate. Initially I was thinking the prices were a little on the high side. Upon further inspection, the food was so good it would have been a bargain at twice the price .

Service = 1 Star Food = 5 Stars First, the good:. The beef in the Flaming Fajaitas is GREAT! Now, the bad: The service sucks! Granted, they're busy, BUT I don't think anyone is waiting on us. A waitress took our drink order but she never brought our drinks. A waiter took our food order and we waited for 45 minutes. The Flaming Fajaitas were not flaming. They forgot to bring us plates. Etc... Not sure if we'll be back.

My my my, Daniel son always comes thru with the spiked margaritas. Chicken con queso and the beans are bomb asf! Me and my fiancé order to go consistently from this family owned and operated business and I love the owner such a warm hearted friendly man, struck me as Italian at first but a seasoned drink mixer for sure. Special margaritas from this man are superb, they are thirst quenching, and he's never shy with the liquor you pay for what you get at this restaurant. The interior is authentic Mexican decor, he makes cool festive decorations which may sway others away, I like this. Pollo Con Queso has me drooling with anticipation every time we suggest this food. Must try food, "don't knock it until u try it"!!

Not only do I think this may be the best Mexican food in Wichita, it is one of the best culinary experiences in Wichita. The queso certainly is the star, though you would be hard pressed to find something on the menu that is not delicious. When Daniel waited on our table of 8 last night I asked him what he recommended, to which he replied "After 26 years...everything is great." ...and he was right. I asked him to bring me whatever he felt I should try and placed my dining experience completely in his hands. I had a combination of Chicken con Queso with Carne Asada as well as traditional beans and rice...it was...to die for! I was not alone in my love of this dish and the many other dishes at the table, it was a meal to remember. Daniel also made is special margaritas and I'm not kidding...they are also the best in town! Made fresh, real lime juice (not a pre-mix), and they come by the glass or pitcher. The service (as you can tell) was 5 stars, absolutely 5 stars and that was because of Daniel and his team. The atmosphere is casual and feels very much like home with plenty of seating. There is a bar if you want top pop in for a light bite on the go, it is kid-friendly, and the prices are EXTREMELY affordable. Giving a place 5 stars is always a tough call because 5 stars means something different for everyone. Is this a 5 star restaurant? No, not by traditional standards. Is this a 5 star experience? Yes, and then some. Is this the best Mexican food in Wichita? Yes. Is this a local gem that more people should frequent? Absolutely. Will I go back? Consider me the new regular. I Highly recommend going to Cactus Cantina if you haven't already and be sure to try the Chicken con Queso...heck...anything con queso...and the Carne Asada. This will quickly become your favorite Mexican restaurant in town!
