Reviews of Shouk
Lot's of delicious and healthy Mediterranean vegan inspired food. I got the Za'atar Cauliflower bowl with extra spicy sauce. The meal was prepared in about 15 minutes and cost $14.57. They have both indoor and outdoor seating if you want to dine-in. Overall, I was extremely satisfied and will be visiting this establishment again.
Delicious flavorful Israeli street food Restaurant. You order and pay for your food at the kiosk. The employees work as a team and they're so friendly. I got the pita veggie burger and it was surely filling and delicious. It doesn't come with a side you'd have to order that separately along with a drink. You feel much better after than if you were eating a greasy burger. Great Vegan option.
Nice seating and indoor space. The cauliflower pita was average - could have been a bit more flavorful and spicy. The menu looked good so will likely come back to try another one.
Are you at a conference, convention, or meeting, and you just need a break from that whole vibe? This is your place, and vegetables to boot!
I had fall falafel and fries (which you need to order as a side). They were tasty. The food was fast. The ambience is casual, quiet, and chill. And the service was enough sass to provide confidence in the food and make me feel even more at ease.
Thank you for the tasty food and the respite from performative professionalism, and thanks to your ladies for being quick and authentic.
This is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant that sells Israeli street food. I am always looking for new spots when I visit D.C., I decided to give them a try during my last visit.
I had the Mushroom Shawama pita. The oyster mushrooms were seasoned well and everything tasted so fresh.
The downside for some is the cashless service with ordering using a kiosk. Would definitely try them again during another visit. There were other options I would love to try.
Super yummy. I stopped in for dinner, ordered the mushroom bowl over greens with hummus and falafel added; plus a cardamom chocolate chip cookie. The bowl was both tart and savory with the pickling and mushrooms. A good mixture. I was really glad that I added the falafel since this was for dinner, it made the dish feel filling and was nicely complimentary. The cookie was nice, moist and chocolaty, but I like a regular chewy chocolate chip cookie more. It was good for being vegan :) The service was good, the eating area was clean. I liked the Israeli music that was playing. No reason to not come back for more :)
This was delicious! Ordering was simple and my food was ready quickly. We got the mushroom shawarma hummus and the za’atar cauliflower bowl and both were great! Generous portions as well.
Having provided many delicious, super satisfying lunches and dinners, Shouk has absolutely earned its spot as one of my favorite and most-frequented restaurants in the DMV. After all, with its super flavorful and delicious menu, affordable price point, and fantastic service, it's hard NOT to love this spot. Shouk is a fully plant-based restaurant, but I've taken many of my meat-eating friends to test it out and the resounding response has been that Shouk's mastery of spices and achieving the golden balance of flavors, textures, and temperatures means that you won't miss the meat at all.
As far as which item on their relatively limited, but still phenomenal menu you should pick...it's honestly so hard to make a recommendation because everything is just so darn amazing! Their TV-famous burger is famous for a reason -- it may not really taste like cow or lamb, but it's packed with an insane amount of flavor. Veggie burgers have a tendency to be super mushy, and while Shouk's is mushy compared to real meat, it honestly held up super well. They also char the outside of the burger, giving it some extra structural integrity, crunch, and flavor. It was, admittedly, a little bit too salty, but it provides a good balance against the rest of the ingredients in the bowl or pita. I opted to get the burger in a bowl with a mix of greens and grains (which was just white rice and lentils), and it came topped with a super refreshing pickled turnip, a small dollop of tomato jam that, despite not looking like much, absolutely packed a flavor punch, and beautifully charred onion. There was also a bit of extra arugula, which helped to add a little bite to balance out the rich burger and super creamy tahini sauce.
If you're looking for another pseudo-meat option but the Shouk burger didn't catch your fancy, they also have a spicy veggie sausage option. I wasn't able to try it because it isn't gluten-free, but the friends who gave it a shot were super impressed; they mentioned it was also on the saltier side, but had a great balance of spices and was super satisfying.
Their oyster mushroom shawarma is also insanely delicious; the natural umami of the mushrooms is complemented beautifully by the charred outer coating from their super-hot grill and the rich, creamy tahini. The flavor-packed entree is lightened up with a bunch of fresh toppings, including cabbage, cucumber, onion, and arugula; honestly, a touch of lemon juice would probably do wonders to this dish, but it's already near-perfect the way it is. If you want some mushroom shawarma but also want to try out one of their other entrees, you can always get it as an extra topping for one of their bowls, which is what I usually do with their za'atar cauliflower. The roasted cauliflower is packed with all of the amazing aromas of Shouk's za'atar blend, and is paired with the most wonderful roasted red bell peppers, hummus, and crispy chickpeas. It's topped with, you guessed it, some of their rich, creamy, decadent tahini, as well as a bit of lemony schug to brighten up the bowl. And if there isn't enough hummus in the cauliflower bowl, you can always add more, or, if you're a hummus fiend like me, go ahead and order a side of hummus. You can get it plain or topped with a green, lightly spicy sauce or tomato jam; it comes with a side of pita chips or warm, fresh pita, but you can also get fresh cucumber slices for a 50-cent surcharge if you're looking for a gluten-free option!
All in all, Shouk is...honestly as close to perfection as I think we'll get to on Earth.
UPDATE 4/11/22:
2 days since first review, and I got back for the falafel. The falafel itself, not sure I've ever tasted the difference of flavor in the falafel itself, BUT... the whole thing put together with the ingredients on it, way better than almost ever place I've had it. I really liked falafel, but I think it's been taken to another level here. But, don't trust me, please, go taste it for yourself. And if you're not vegan or vegetarian, it really is worth going to this vegan restaurant. Wish I could try the burger, but I won't eat mushrooms. Sorry Carla. Looking forward to going back before I leave town. And thanks to the restaurant for responding.
So I really wanted to give this a 4.5, but it's not an option. The food was good, don't get me wrong. I had the sausage pita. With the harrisa it was super spicy and the added veggies gave it a good amount of texture and crunch. The sausage itself, was fine, but tasted like any of the veggie sausages that you can get at a store. I was hoping for a little more. Other than that, I really like the place. The decor is fun and interesting, and there's a cozy seating area with long tables that fit 6-8 people. And yes, by cozy I mean small... BUT this is Israeli street food, so you should take it to go anyway!
I do really like it and I'm looking forward to trying the falafel, and some of the other tasty sounding dishes. And I would order the sausage again, just wasn't as great as I had hoped for.
I hear the burger is great. There's a video on their website of this woman raving about it. Check it out, it's what helped make up my mind about going there. Thanks Carla.
And the reason for the half point deduction... There was no bathroom. Didn't hear if it was out of service or if they just didn't have one.
Will update, post falafel visit.
Restaurant layout was unique. Kiosks we’re simple to figure out. There were both indoor and outdoor seating options. 2 unisex bathrooms. Foods was delicious. Restaurant was clean. Bathroom was clean. Service and staffs were spot on. First time here, had a positive experience. Definitely recommend grabbing a bite here, especially if you’re looking for a non-meat option.
Too many great options but I settled on the Shouk Burger. The burger is meaty and has great flavor. Pickled veg adds a satisfying crunch. Pita is like a soft pillow. Hummus was so creamy it made me wanna cry. The cookie was the most average part of the meal and even so had a memorable cardamom flavor. Highly recommend.
Amazing fast casual place for lunch! I stop by anytime I am in town. Food is prepped very quickly and tastes fresh and not too heavy, but definitely satisfying. Meat eaters will be happy with this vegetarian spot. Pictured here is the Shouk Sausage, but i also love the mushroom shawarma.
The food was very good and we would eat there again. Good for vegetarian and vegan options. The "burger" was also very good. The one downside was that the table we sat at was sticky - really needed wiping down more often.
I loved the plant based concept. It was a great place to take my vegan family. They also had numerous gluten free options available. I had a fried mushroom shawarma with a rice and lentil bowl. It was great. I loved the harissa Mayo on top.
I like the concept and I would be willing to try it again, but I ordered the mushroom burger and it was toooooo salty to eat. The fries were excellent, though. There a TON of vegan items on the menu.
I loved the compostable cartons and forks! I don't remember whether or not the ketchup containers were compostable.
Good food, fast service, cute location. Not great parking anywhere - street parking. The flavors can get annoying halfway through the meal. But otherwise it’s very good, creative and flavorful and feels healthy. I like the shouk sauce and the “chicken” made from mushrooms. The shouk burgers are good and the sweet potato fries are tasty. The cookies are pricey and I’d give the 🍪 a “B”. I love the eco friendly packaging.
One of our favorite places in DC. It's easy to overlook that it's completely vegetarian because it's completely delicious!!! Fave is the shouk'n caesar salad but Falafel is a close second
I was visiting DC on business. I was fortunate to be staying near this restaurant, which is certified Kosher. I had the Hummus one day, and it was done well. The mushroom based shawarma was unique and tasty. They use real Tehina from Har Bracha
The next time I ate a plant based burger and lentil soup. Good, satisfying food. I will be back next time I'm in DC.
I'm a meat eater and I tried the shouk burger and I found out that I need meat. It was a beautiful presentation and the spicy fries were awesome! This is a great place for vegetarians
Amazing vegetarian food! I had falafel with pita and falafel humus with pita. I enjoyed every bit of it! It was sumptuous meal for two of us. I had their orange canned drink - sanpellecrino as well which I enjoyed. Service is quick. I loved the food!
The food was fantastic! We had the Mushroom Shawarma bowl and the Shouk Sausage bowl. Will definitely return the next time we're in DC.
Great place! We were looking for a lunch spot and I am so glad we stumbled over SHOUK.
Pretty ambiance and very nice dining area.
It was hard to choose a dish because everything on the menu sounds delicious. We decided to try the Mushroom shawarma, the dizengoff salad, spice fries and hummus.
Everything was so good!! Hummus is amazing, great job.
Highly recommend it
It is a (very expensive) veggie burger. I went to this place because I saw it on Food Network, and when I was attending a convention in Washington, I knew I had to stop by. The burger was good, the portion was just right and it was very filling. There are places for you to eat inside, but the place is usually full, plan to sit outside or take it somewhere to eat. The burger is not all that great, it is just very good. I guess if I hadn't seen the Food Network hype video, I would have thought it was better, however, my expectations were not met. This is a good stop if you are vegetarian/vegan passing through the DC area.
Oh my my my... where have you been all my life? Food is really tasty and flavorful. Everything tastes fresh. Portions are good. Service is quick. Y'all yourselves a favor and check this place out
Walkable from DC convention center, decent size to dine in and sit out. Service was very quick and workers were very friendly. Ordering was made easy and customizable with no much confusion. Food was flavourful, whole menu was fully vegan, falafel and shawarma were my favorite with the spicy harissa sauce, it just tasted heavenly. Best for vegetarians and vegans, wanna try vegan food.
Food was absolutely incredible. Lots of options for vegans/vegetarians. The inside was kind of hot but it just made the cold drink that much more worth it. If I ever visit DC again, I’ll be sure to come back to this place.
Very good and flavorful. And service is quick. I love that they have Bruce Cost ginger ale here.
Wow what an amazing and devious experience at this cute restaurante !!!!
Great service, cozy place, and great price for their food.
I ordered lentil soup; was goooooood, seasoned with the right amount of salt.
Also, I got the mushroom shawarma bowl and it was simply perfect. The taste, consistency, and texture. Served on biodegradable plates, all the silverware also was environmental friendly.
My entire meal was $17 and I had some leftovers.
My son got an eggplant burger and it was to die for. That pita bread has to be the BEST I have ever had.
I want to go again !!!
I ordered falafel wrap and was good. Falafels were fresh and tasty. Only thing to say is they add less vegges to the wrap. Which you can always ask for, I think. Flavour wise food was good and they are Vegan
tried the mushroom shawarma bowl and it was absolutely delicious! added harissa to it and the flavor was 110%! next time I’m in dc I will be back 😌 …
I am a visiting vegan from Connecticut. I am delighted to find out that Shouk offers all vegan food. I had a Falafel pita. It was so delicious. The service is fast and store is clean. Highly recommend
Friendly fast service, beautiful presentation and some really delicious food! As a whole food plantbased no added oil or sugar chef I rejoice when I find the rare vegan spots that aren’t serving super-processed extremely calorie-dense grub!
I really enjoyed the mushroom shawarma bowl - flavorful but still tasted very healthy and clean. I also got a cookie but the texture was a little too soft/underbaked for me but that may be personal preference. Ordering there was easy and was I was able to pick up my lunch within 10 mins.
Definitely, the best Vegan street food in the US. Fresh and natural ingredients, professional and kind employees, and a sensation of trustfulness in the meals we order from here. I wish I lived closer so I would come here more regularly.
I lived in Israel for several years, and this hummus is the closest I've had stateside to what I had in Israel-- in short, it is amazing! Great falafel as well. The pita was only ok, but let's face it, pita is only a vehicle to deliver said delicious hummus to your mouth. Very quick turnaround from placing order to getting the food.
I’ve had the best hummus and falafel since I came to US at Shouk.
Truly amazing food for vegans. I just came across this store by accident while doing UberEats and decided to eat there and BAM!!! I got hooked, its my go to place whenever I am in DC. 100% Vegan, reasonable pricing, fast service, DELIcious food and finally satisfying portion. I highly recommend for people to try it out!!!
I loved this place so much I returned a second time on my short trip. The food was excellent and all vegan! I wish they had a place like this in Utah.
I am a novice concerning "authentic" falafel, but this tasted great to me. Seating was hard to come by at 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday. The staff were friendly, and my only objection to the service has to do with the fact that the ordering kiosk does not offer a paper receipt. If a customer wants a receipt, they have to provide an email address or phone number for texts, and the verbiage on the page says that they are also signing up for email advertisements, etc. IMHO, this is a practice that ought to be illegal; customers should be able to get a receipt without having to agree to be spammed.
Some of the best tasting vegan food I have ever had (and I eat a lot of vegan food). The mushroom-based fake meat is life-changing -- don't miss the "Shouk'n" in either a sandwich or on a salad. The food really couldn't be better, and the sweet potato fries were even delicious much later, when they were cold. And it is certified kosher (by DC Kosher).
Shouk serves outstanding vegan friendly Israeli food. I’ve tried both the Shouk Burger and the Eggplant burger and both are great, however I feel they are both better as rice bowls. The polenta fries are also good and so are is the Harissa and Schug.
The rice and lentil bowls can feel a little on the dry side so I always end up getting at least two, sometimes three sauces to add to it. This brings up the price of the meal though as they are about 75 cents each.
Overall a really good spot and I find myself coming back time and time again.
Only place in the DMV that does hummus any justice. The hummus portion is large and can easily be split between two people. Don't skimp on the tahina and schug.
Order through the hood-drop program and had no issues. The carrier arrived before the listed time and was very friendly.
Nice vegetarian place if you look to grab a quick bite, reasonable prices.
This vegan food restaurant features amazingly well seasoned food. I am not a vegan or even a vegetarian, but I would choose Shouk for the flavor of their food & their entire philosophy regarding organic food.
Shouk is a decent option for fast, fresh delivery food. I wanted to try something new and decided on the Shawarma Hummus and the Cashew Labneh. I really enjoyed the lebneh, but was a little disappointed in the shawarma hummus, which was a little dry and lacking in spices/flavor, which was unfortunate because it was a sizable portion. I don't know if I'd order from here again, unless I'm craving cashew lebneh.
Incredible, such flavors and great portions. Will certainly come back! Check out the chocolate and cardamom cookie for dessert, delicious:)
just finished a nice lunch at Shouk. i tried their signature burger , flavors were good, great texture and presentation. i particularly liked the pickled turnip for some welcome acidity. rice n lentil base was cooked properly. side of pita was warm and fresh, hummus was individually portioned and well-spiced. place was easy to find and quick for a bite. i knocked off a star because the food was quite salty for my taste buds
An awesome restaurant serving vegan dishes/ quick bites. The space has a middle eastern vibe and has friendly welcoming staff who will help you selecting your dish. Personally, I recommend trying the burger and sweet potato fries.
The space also has bird games to keep you and your friends busy while you wait.
While in DC for the Women's March we happened upon Shouk while looking for vegan options near the March location. My daughter and I were very pleasantly surprised with this gem! First of all the young woman who took our order was so very nice. She was helpful with describing the dishes and spiciness of them and she let me try one I was thinking of getting. My daughter got the cauliflower bowl with a base of half lentils/rice and half greens. I got the black beans and sweet potato with a base of half lentils/rice and half greens. We also got a snack of falafel with tahini dipping sauce and the lemon date balls and chocolate cardamom cookie. Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious! The vibe in the restaurant is pretty great too. Besides the food being on point the customer service was top notch. Any time I am in DC Shouk will be one of the first places I visit again!
Shouk is 100 plant-based (vegan). The staff was not very pleasant and the food was just OK. I ordered the falafel bowl and I have had better. Not alot of space to dine in. I probably wont be back.
I thought this place was very good. They have great variety of options and bowls and plates hummus. Their menu is awesome. I had to Shoke burger and it was very flavorful for even a vegetarian burger. They work extremely fast and effectively. Even under high stress situations when the place is packed they do a great job. Definitely a place to grab a great bite to eat
This is a really good and quick place to grab a bite. Everything on the menu is vegetarian and very tasty. I got the mushroom bowl (arugula, mushrooms, rice and lentils asparagus and tahona za’atar) and it was very filling. My husband had the black bean pita (black beans, sweet potatoes, onions, red peppers, tomatoes and arugula and spicy harissa) The portions are decently sized as well. Ambiance is very relaxed... there are games in the communal tables.
My first time at Shouk. Very friendly and helpful staff. My plant based burger on a salad was awesome and I will be back soon. Dine in area was clean and cozy but small.
Am not a vegan, however, I love their food. It's Mediteranian-inspired vegan food. You have the choice between a pita or bowl style for most items on the menu. Tries the pita style for the burger-- still love bowl-style. The Breakfast pita is my favorite!
Mad busy because of conference AIPAC. Quick prep after you order at an electronic kiosk. Food is good. Very casual and not expensive. Very few seats for the crowd.
Loved the fried oyster mushroom pita. Hummus is super creamy. Great place. Great idea. Mushroom shawarma is a little salty.
Was looking for an interesting vegan lunch and this place more than delivered. I got a mushroom shawarma bowl that was so flavorful and unique. And I added a side of "tenders" which were delicious fried oyster mushrooms. Highly recommend for vegans and nonvegans alike
We ordered falafel with pita and it was good . Had to self order .Falafels were flavourful. Pitas were good too..just a bit pricey.
Delicious! Love the plant based take on Mediterranean favorites. The fried mushrooms were so yummy! Got the kale salad which was a little under dressed or maybe could’ve been marinated/wilted or mixed with some tender baby greens because even though I want to eat healthy I’m not a horse lol. Either way I would definitely come back probably just stick to the romaine. Pita was yummy!!
Running to a flight is never fun, especially hungry and a week before Passover ✡️ looking everywhere every place was closed getting ready and deep cleaning before the holidays. Thanks god we found Shouk, a vegan place that looked and tastes like all the classic Mediterranean options, Hummus, Falafels, Israeli Salad and more. 🇮🇱🥙🤘🤤
Great taste and great for those that are looking for either a Kosher Option, or Vegan
7️⃣/🔟
Extremely overpriced.
No way I would really care to go back in all honesty which is sad because I was looking forward to the food but the bill was super high and for what we got on our plates, it did not reflect how much we paid.
My friend said the falafel was very good. The same can be said of the sweet potato fries. I liked my cauliflower pita, but am looking forward to trying something else. I recommend the cookie - chocolate chip with cardamom. Delightfully interesting.
The ingredients are fresh, the place is cozy, the staff is helpful. The food is okay, nothing out of the ordinary, in other words, I would eat here again but I would not convert in a Vegan if I had to eat this food in a faint basis
Very good vegan israeli food!
Nothing to complain
Top👍👍really great food. We had the Shouk Burger and salad, hummus and fries. All of these were delicious and really fresh. Staff was very friendly and location is also quite lovely. …
Exquisite Middle East plant based fare. Quite creative too - I had an excellent mushroom shawarma & my wife had a great grilled cauliflower bowl. Lovely hummus with cucumber instead of pita and a fabulous cardamom chocolate chip cookie ! 🌱 …
Best falafel I have ever tried.
Everything was delicious, the hummus out of this world and the fried oyster mushrooms wow just wow.
Both DC Shouk locations always have FRESH food. Best falafel in the city. Can we appreciate that their restaurant is 100% plant based with an extremely allergen friendly menu?! Also big shout out to Dennis! Him and the crew are making waves!
Great food. You won't care that it's plant based unless that's the reason you found it in the first place. Went twice in a week. Well worth a try.
Excellent menu for vegans plenty of choices. I ate the coliflower pita, amazing. Good music in the background.
One of the most underrated restaurants in DC. Hummus is the best in the city, plus the sandwiches - including the Fried Shouk’n my favorite - never miss. Everything is kosher and vegan too!
By far the best falafel pita pocket in the USA! I wish I could give them 10 stars! Super delicious!
Delicious, healthy vegan options! We got polenta fries, cauliflower on lentils and rice and a shouk burger on pita. We were only in DC for 2 nights and we ate here twice, even though I had a list of 20 places I wanted to try—my boyfriend liked it that much!
A great quick eat, the options are vegetarian and even though I'm not a vegetarian personally, I really enjoy eating here! Their bowls are very flavorful and their polenta fries are my favorite! It's quick and worth a visit.
Mushroom shawarma was one of the best sandwiches I’ve eaten in years! I’m a vegetarian and sandwich connoisseur for 10 years... Unexpectedly full of flavors and great ingredients. Come here for food and flavors (all vegan!) that will blow your mind (try the shouk burger too!).
The food was really very good. I ordered the chickpea pits and was not disappointed. If i go back I think I would like to try the burger. It was enough food for lunch. The prices could be lower, it cost me $10 for pita bread, tahini, cucumber, and chickpeas. Sides are $4.50. This place does not accept cash. Patio outside and seating inside or you can take your order to go.
I love this place. Food is very different, heard of Shouk through word of mouth. It's vegetarian but you won't miss the meat. Craft beer and spicy bowl or a burger is a great lunch combination. I didn't have the craft beer as I was on assignment. Someday I'll make a visit again when I'm not working.
Spectacular Israeli vegan street food. With many options and tastes. With super fast order and eco friendly service
I always love Shouk’s vegan bowls! They have really delicious and unique vegan options. I tried the vegan hot dog bowl with rice and lentil combo with harissa sauce, absolutely enjoyed it! As someone who’s always on the hunt for healthy Middle eastern inspired dishes, I would recommend recommend this place. The portions are good sized for the price!
Unbelievable great plant based meals.
Could not pick one.
I had a bowl and a pita.
Yummy pita burger ♥️ Big enough to leave no space for soup 🤣
Great spot in Washington DC for a quick vegetarian meal. Their ingredients are fresh and their menu items are spot-on. There is not much customization to be done, which leaves you slightly disappointed as you stare at all the great ingredients in front of you that you are missing out on. Either way, you can't really ask for more in a vegetarian fast-food spot.
First - food is EXCELLENT. Five stars.
Second, but more importantly, customer service is either non-existent or bad. One star. Not sure which. To order, you just order from the screen on the wall or from your phone. There is no human interaction. You actually have to order your utensils. Try to talk to the employees or ask for something, you’ll get blank stares and grumbles as the condiments or utensils are tossed your way.
Thanks for the response from ownership! I get everyone has a bad day. I’ll give the crew another chance, because the food really is good.
Great vegan food. We had the shawarma and bowls. Delicious.
Some of the best falafel I’ve ever had! Super crispy, but not dry. Absolutely get the hummus and the schug. Incredibly flavorful and delicious.
Can't lie...I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Didn't feel "chainy"...Lentil soup fantastic. Falafal and Crispy Oyster mushroom pitas were delicious! (warm bread would've taken it to the next level) But overall EXCELLENT. Customer service top notch too!
Actually, I was searching for a vegetarian food on the streets while I was in DC for few days. Then, I found this Israeli restaurant. I did Google about the reviews & found out that it serves vegan food. I ordered Shouk Pita with cauliflower greens & Polenta fries. They were delicious. I loved it. I wish it could have a branch in Houghton as well.
Meh...the music is loud, which is not my preference but if you don't mind then you'll be happy, the water $$$$ but glad we bought it so we could use the tops to finish off the shesh besh set (use pennies if you don't have caps cause who doesn't love a little 6-5 over lunch?!), the food affordable and ok. If you are looking for a quick hot vegan lunch it will satisfy..
Absolutely amazing food. I mean, Wow. My first time eating Shouk. We ordered takeout to go last weekend with friends. I had the fried shouk'n, the shouk burger with sweet potato fries, falafel balls and za'atar cauliflower. Can't wait to try out more on the menu. I will be visiting soon!
Their own hot sauce is amazing Tried chickpea pita didn't like the flavor, maybe it was the lemon preserve in it. ratatouille pita was ok, mushroom pita was good.
Amazing vegan food. Do not leave without trying the spice fries!
Helpful staff recommended Shouk Burger (with spicy harissa, yes please) and polenta fries that come with tasty tomato sauce on the side. I didn't know vegan food could satisfy that burger-and-fries-and-a-beer crave but it did, it did. Shouk is what fast food will be in a virtuous world. I will be back - roasted fennel with pistachio pesto, rice-and-lentil bowls, soups, hummus, salads - I see you....
Food was absolutely tasteful. Staff is great and helpful. Food comes out pretty quick. All 3 things that every great restaurant should focus on. Also the music is great.
Low key…. This is one of the best vegan Mediterranean spots I have EVER been to.
One of the best Falafel Sandwiches. The spicy sauce should be complementary and incorporated in the sandwich.
Excellent service and Amazing Vegan Foods . I orderes the Eggplant burger and polenta fries.
Yummy. Vegetarian. Well prepared.
All great adjectives i used repeatedly to describe this spot to friends.
A fun take on some Middle Eastern/Mediterranean influence and just good flavor combos. Well worth the visit.
Great falafel pita and hummus, and definitely try the lemon date balls! My only complaint was the pita- not the beat I’ve had, though certainly better than other restaurants in the dc area.
Having lived in Saudi Arabia for 17 years, this is by far the best falafel I've had outside the country. :)
Absolutely delicious! I hated mushrooms my whole life until I tried the fried shouk'n nuggets and now I am 100% on board with mushrooms. The burgers, falafel, hummus, fries and well everything is amazing. Even my non-plant based family/friends love it.
I tried this place because the food is plant based and will return because my food was good. I had the mushroom shawarma and it was seasoned with a delicious flavor that I've never come across before. They have shaded outside seating on the sidewalk which is a plus.
Perfect easy, healthy and chill meal. My belly felt better after Shouk ☺️
I LOVE SHOUK SO MUCH! I had it for the first time this past weekend and it was phenomenal!! I was soooo happy that everything is plant based! The Shouk sauce, the harissa Mayo, the falafel ball sandwich, The freakin red lentil soup!!! It was ready as soon as I arrived at the restaurant, no waiting at all!! And Omgggggg I can’t get enough and I’m about to make the 3 hr drive back to DC just so I can get it again!!! Please bring Shouk to Charlottesville, Virginia !! We need you guys here desperately!!!!
Love the food! No matter what you order it is delicious. Excellent customer service.
The food here is so good plus everything is vegan, come try it you won’t regret it.
Awesome fried oyster mushroom bowl.... I'll definitely be back for more!
This place is delicious. Fried Shouk is amazing. The falafel is fantastic too. I'd love to see one in Ann Arbor. I'll eat there whenever it's available.
The food was amazing! A cute spot downtown. The mushroom shawarma was the best! The Jack fruit bbq pita was a bit sweet for me, but the small fried onions made it crunchy. The hummus is also tasty would like pita chips for dipping.
The only thing that beats a vegan restaurant is a vegan restaurant with outstanding food for a good price. Shouk provides some amazing food with a varied menu for whatever flavor you're in the mood for.
The Shouk nuggets were crispy even after transport and were flavorful despite being a relatively simple menu item; my only critique would be that some fo the mushroom clusters were left fairly large before frying so upon picking them up they cracked and the breading would fall off. The lentil stew was just as warm and comforting as I had hoped it would be. Finally, the Shouk burger was very good. Bean-based patties have a tendency to be either far too mushy or crumbly but the Shouk patty was well-seasoned and had a wonderful texture. The pita it came it however, was fairly thick and dry compared to pitas I've had at other places. While the thickness helped to provide structure to the sandwich, the dryness was not the most appetizing.
I would definitely visit again, and can't wait to try out some of the other items on their menu
I'm neither a vegan nor vegetarian, but I like this restaurant. So delicious.
Great vegan take out! We had the falafel hummus, Shouk’n Caesar, cardamom chocolate chip cookie, and lemon date balls. The food was excellent! The hummus was so creamy. We will definitely visit again when back in DC. Ordering online was easy and food was ready at the requested time.
Really delicious. We ordered the Za'atar Cauliflower bowl and Mushroom Shawarma bowl. Awesome place for the vegan or plant-based eater.
We loved the concept and the food, extremely fresh and clean. It's good
Great shouk veg burger, mushroom shawarma, rice/lentils, & omg sweeet potato fries & free water!! Perfect feast for two under $30 (before tax) with left overs even.
Good set up and easy ordering experience on the tablet. Great vegan choice. Love it.
Delicious food, fast service, clean facility. Plenty of clearly marked gluten-free options. Outdoor seating was nice. Would gladly visit again next time I'm in DC!
Simply the best. Healthy AND delicious AND affordable.
I met the love of my life here: the fried shouk’n. I was married under the twinkling lights of a communal table, through a silent commitment to forever patron this location.
Nah for real though very good! The food was fresh and really flavorful and the service was quick and reasonably priced. Only critique was it was a little salty. Will be back.
Absolutely delicious vegan food. Don't miss this place when visiting Washington DC.
Good middle eastern food. Vegan restaurant, and we liked it, even though we are carnivores. The falafel was very good, tasted like in Israel, which has great falafel. The mushroom shawarma tasted very good. It did not taste like shawarma, but I didn't expect it to. It was objectively tasty, no need for comparisons. The lemon-dates balls were not great at all. I love dates, but the unnatural lemon flavor was overbearing. They should mix some dates with chopped nuts, and it would be much better. The place is very basic, a little bit too basic. It's hard for me to put my finger on what exactly it lacks, but even though the food is good, it lack the "X factor."
Food was ok, we were expecting more flavor. I've had better hummus from the grocery store. And the hummus only came with one small piece of pita bread. I got the mushroom shawarma and it also lacked flavor and I had a pool of oil at the bottom of my pita. The pita bread was good, warm and soft. My husband got falafel and those were good. Nothing was bad but we thought it was too pricey for what we got.
By far the best vegetarian food I ever had and I’m from NYC. This beats superiority burger, which I thought was the best veggie burger in nyc for a long time. I’m also not 100% vegetarian. Super fire. Don’t sleep.
Great food, but QR code is the only menu option.
I rarely leave restaurant reviews, but had to because this is downright fantastic! We split the veggie burger and mushroom pita option along with an order of hummus to slather on everything (pro tip) and wanted to finish it all because it was so good but had to stop because it was way too filling. For a grand total of $38, how could you possibly go wrong?
Absolutely delicious. Loved the shawarma, falafel hummus, and spice fries. We didn't have anyone vegan or kosher here we just loved the food regardless!
I really enjoyed my meal at Shouk! I got the mushroom shawarma on half greens half rice and lentils. The flavor and texture of the mushroom was interesting and delicious! The sweet potato fries were good, but fairly standard, so I think I’ll try the spice fries next time. The cashew labneh had a nice creamy texture, but not much flavor (similar to traditional labneh). I tasted bites of my friends shouk’n (also delicious) and BBQ jackfruit (not for me, but I’m not a big fan of BBQ). Overall we were happy with the quality of the meal and speed of service, and only disappointed by the price. The portions weren’t too small, but for a casual street food restaurant, most of us ended up paying about what we would for a meal in a dine-in environment.
Amazing veggie burger! Everything is plant based and very flavorful.
Vegan deliciousness done right!
Every item on the menu is fantastic, all the way to the desserts.
It does get very busy for lunch, so do not expect super-fast experience then but the line does keep moving and it is VERY worth the wait. I'm a fan of the pita sandwich option but there are salad options and more. The seating is somewhat limited during lunch rush time, but plenty during more quiet times.
It's worth the trip any time and reasonable prices.
A real treat if you’re a vegan. Absolutely delicious stuff all around. Packaging is very sensible and practical yet innovative. They provide eco-friendly utensils, if you want. They’re not the cheapest option though they make a strong case for value-for-money.
Really powerful flavors! While walking around the mall in DC we may be importunate mistake of picking some soft serve ice cream up to satiate our hunger as we were ravenous. To make up for it we decided that we would eat vegetarian. A quick look on Google and we were able to find shouk. The food is amazing it was ready in like 2 minutes and I have never tasted a better oyster mushroom in my life.
Cool place, but it’s vegetarian. We didn’t notice it till we arrived there
The lebneh was awesome and the cauliflower was good. The hummus was a big disappointment. The falafel was good.
Also, lebneh is literally named after Lebanon, it’s country of origin. How can it be Israeli?
Fantastic healthy food. Fast friendly service. Each bite a flavor explosion.
Loved their falafel sandwiches. The hummus platter was also very good. The fried mushroom sandwich was relished by my daughter. Love the fact that the place is vegan. During covid the staff was still be cheerful when we picked up our food. Good luck to the team!
Food was great. We were in and out of the place in 30 minutes. Seating areas in and outdoors are really nice. Perfect spot for a quick lunch.
I've never visited the restaurant itself, but we've gotten their HoodDrop delivery a couple times and I've been very impressed. The falafel is excellent. The (whole wheat) pita is very soft and fluffy. The hummus is very flavorful. The red cabbage salad is excellent, of course. My only gripes: 1. When ordering HoodDrop (or delivery), falafel balls may not come packed separately, and therefore could get mushy. 2. The schug and harissa add-ons are a little small for their price.
Saw this place on Food Network and wanted to try it.....So glad I did...wonderful flavors, I recommend the Shouk burger awesome!!!!
Best vegan food ever. Oyster mushrooms were so good! Definitely go here.
Great fast casual spot for vegetarian Israeli / Middle Eastern food.
Food was delicious - will definitely swing by again. I had the Shouk "burger," hummus, and sweet potato fries. All were fantastic, except I was disappointed with the sauce for the fries and ended up switching to ketchup.
The ambience was lacking though, so it'll probably become more of a to-go option in the future. Just two large communal tables and one 4-person round table by the window. No wifi, little decoration, and impossible to find condiments.
You'll order from a tablet in the front of the store and pay with a credit card. There's no table service, or service of any kind, really.
Prices are reasonable, about $10-15 for most entrees and $5 for a side. I spent $20 without drinks. No need (or even ability) to tip, which is nice.
So good. Falafel/hummus bowls are one of the best things I've EVER had. First time I had one I went back again the NEXT DAY!!! I've even tried to replicate them at home. (Nowhere near as good). Everything is vegan and I've taken several non-vegans here and they love it as well. One of my fave lunch spots near my office.
Delicious. Not a vegan or even a vegetarian but I do love hummus and falafel. The hummus was perfect and I’d travel across town for the falafel pita. The shouk burger on rice was ok, but the other items were phenomenal. Will definitely return.
Shouk is outstanding. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but their food makes me want to be. The Should Burger is unmatched. I don't care what anyone says, this is better than meat. Their fries are also top notch. I'll continue to visit Everytime I'm in the city. The owner is also a great guy. Shouk is an amazing place. Love.it.
The burger, made only from beans, was surprisingly like a real beef-based burger. And really tasty!
Phenomenal vegetarian food. I'm not even a vegetarian and yet I've been to this place a number of times. The eggplant burger and the mushroom shawarma are particularly delicious. Lots of filling, tasty food that takes almost no time to prepare for a decent price and in a convenient location. Love Shouk!
Kosher veggie Mediterranean food, Israeli influence. Wonky self-service ordering, but tasty food.
The mushroom shawarma is incredibly flavorful. Mushrooms were cooked to perfection, the sauces they have are incredible, and it makes me wish all “fast food” was like this. Have ordered the same dish multiple times because I love it so much, and it’s as delicious and filling every single time.
All vegan!! Vegan Middle East inspired food. I did not ever think I'd see those words all in one sentence. But this place pulls it off fantastically! If you don't know what to get, ask and the staff will be happy to suggest something. But, I suggest the mushroom shawarma pita and the sweet potato fries! You really cannot go wrong here. So happy that this place exists. Staff is always so friendly and helpful.
Taste is amazing, but I feel it is little bit over priced. The staff there are very nice!
Awesome food! The polenta fries were great, and the salad had fresh ingredients. I had the beet salad, I love beets and it did not disappoint. My father had the boxed water, which we had never seen before, and it was apparently good, it didn't have that boxy taste that stuff like that can get. All around great experience.
I love the chocolate chip cookies with cardamom 😋 I ordered the Cauliflower salad! Everything was fresh and savory. …
Sign up for their awards program. Great deals!
Shouk was excellent the first few times I went about 6 months ago, but recently the food has not been as good. On the last occasion I ordered the Shouk salad, a favorite I’ve ordered at least 6 times before, and about three ingredients were skipped. When I asked they added back pistachios but the staff was awkward about it. Also they have reduced the amount of greens they put in a bowl. It used to be you ordered and a fabulous bowl of lots of greens was served. Now they put just a few leaves, for a much smaller bowl. When I asked for extra greens (more money), they added a puny amount. Finally it’s also gotten a lot greasier overall. So I’ve stopped going for now. Too bad because it was a quick favorite!
Never have i ever had more delicious mushroom! It tasted like beautifully smoked sausage and one of the best things i've had all year. At inly 9.99, this pita sandwich goes to show money isn't indicative of quality. This place has a nice aesthetic and awesome selection for vegetarians. Highly recommended.
Vegetarian for 12 years and can easily say this was one of the best 🌱 places I’ve ever ate at. Top 3 spots for sure. …
The vegan labneh here is unbelievable, and the mushrooms are delicious!
This is a great Plant Based place!
I had the black bean pita pocket and it was very good. The Rosemary lemonade was just perfect amount of sweetness. The nut and fruit bar was a bit on the sweet side for me. I would very much recommend this restaurant to anyone. Very good food and staff.
Healthy and super tasty, middle-East, vegetarian fast food. Dishes are filling and incredibly rich in flavours. We loved the roasted mushroom bowl with picked cabbage and brown rice, and the sweet fried potato side.
I am not a vegan but I love coming to this place for a good meal! Their pita options have great flavor combinations and the veggies are always cooked well. It does take about 10 minutes for them to prepare the food even if they aren't busy, so don't expect an assembly line quickness.
Really good vegan food. Delicious!
The shawarma is delicious! So are the crispy oyster & jackfruit bbq pitas. The whole family left full, happy, and with leftovers! 👍🏾 10/10 recommend!
A modern Israeli fast-casual restaurant with a full plant-based menu. My partner was so excited to bring me here - he says that there are only a few Israeli-owned restaurants in DC and this is one of them. This establishment is a perfect combination of our ever-lasting cravings for Israeli and vegan food. The pita is delicious and filling. Some of my must-haves with the main entrees are the sweet potato fries (with the cashew labneh), hummus, and the chocolate-chip cookies. The mushroom pita/bowl is one of my favorites on the menu. Keep up the awesome work!
Fantastic food and a nice inside. I had the burger with sweet potato fries, and the burger was so crispy but had great toppings. Amazing that it was vegan as well 😍 There's also indoor and outdoor seating, and board games. Really worth it, especially if you're already in the area!
As someone who likes meat as an entree pretty much all the time, I was a bit skeptical when my friend suggested going here. I looked at the menu and decided to try it and WOW! I couldn't have been more surprised at how much I was enjoying an entree that had no meat in it. I got the mushroom shawarma and didn't miss the chicken/beef/lamb one bit. A completely delicious meal that I would absolutely get again.
Though I have no plans of going vegetarian or vegan anytime soon, I definitely thank Shouk for making me realize you don't need meat for a great meal.
Great vegetarian Middle Eastern fast casual spot near the convention center. The mushroom shawarma I ordered was super flavorful and the accompanying pita had a superb chewy texture. I hope this place grows and comes to the West Coast someday.
Everything here is vegan, which is outstanding. I had some of the best falafel that I've ever tasted here. My boyfriend and I both got falafel in a pita with hummus. I added cauliflower; he added mushroom shawarma. I'm not sure what the green sauce was called, but definitely try it. The harissa sauce was good, but we agreed that the falafel pita already had enough flavors going on and that the spiciness kind of masked the flavor. We shared polenta fries. Everything we got was fabulous. The portions are an excellent value for the price. Neither of us finished our pita in one sitting, and we came in ravenously hungry. You order by touchscreen which was user friendly and easy to navigate. That way, you don't have to deal with iffy service from a cashier, which I'm finding is more and more common. The ladies making the food were professional and efficient. There is lots of seating both inside and out. Overall, there's nothing negative I have to say. Perfect experience.
Their burger is absolutely the best. And the fries! Even my omnivore friends love it! Run, don't walk to Shouk
The hummus at Shouk is the stuff of dreams! So smooth and creamy. I think I’m addicted because I keep thinking about the hummus and wanting to go back 😭 We ordered the Falafel Hummus and the Falafel Pita. The online ordering went well, and I felt safe picking up our order during the pandemic. …
They have a screen where you can order your own food which was nice! Seating is limited. We tried the shouk burger with rice/salad mix and the breakfast sandwich. Breakfast sandwich was fresh and delishhh. However, I’m super salt sensitive and everything tasted SO salty! Wouldn’t recommend if you are like me. Take this review with a grain of salt! ;)
I'm at a conference and this place is right around the corner from the Convention Center. The line was long, but they filled orders quite fast. The food was good - Israeli fast casual. I got a roasted cauliflower bowl with rice and lentils. It came with tomatoes, parsley and tahina. Oh, they have inside and outside seating (in season) too.
They’ve mastered the game of sweet potato fries. Very impressed!
My son was here last time he was in DC. Took me here today and I really enjoyed the food.
As someone who is neither a vegetarian nor vegan, I strongly recommend Shouk to everyone! The food is delicious, I recommend the Shouk burger, it is very filling without weighing you down. And shout out to the hostess Brittany for being so charismatic and informative on plant based cooking. There is also a great selection of music that plays. So if you're looking to try a strictly plant based meal or something new overall, go to Shouk!
Absolutely loved the fall falafel pita!
I always order something extra for dinner. So delicious!
The food was decent. I am not a vegan by any way, so this review may be biased. I did like the drinks that were made with ginger root. I've never had a drink like that before. Gentleman taking care of the ordering was awesome as well. Very warm feeling about this restaurant. So close to all the sight seeing museums as well!
Mind blowingly delicious! The hummus is perfection. Had the mushroom shawarma and my partner had the fried shook'n and Both of us cannot wait to return and bring friends. An absolute must try.
Very good fast casual place for Middle Eastern/Mediterranean. I had the cauliflower pita and it was fresh and flavorful, with a good amount of spice. The harissa they give you to put on top was fantastic and really made the pita that much better. I had a glass of wine too for only $6, which is kind of a steal in DC. For overall quality and value, this place is great all around.
Terrific food - vegan with completely fresh ingredients. The meals are colorful, diverse in textures and flavor, with some ability to customize with harassa sauce. We were at a convention and could sneak out, order and watch the preparation of the substantial lunch. I liked it so much that I visited the restaurant twice for lunch during a 4-day conference. There is a small amount of indoor and outdoor seating. The offer tap water served in a large urn for free.
The food is amazing - I had the Shouk salad, and my friends got a burger and the black bean bowl option. Lovely service, friendly people, and warm atmosphere. Loved it. (We all were fully satisfied, and I'm the only vegan of the group!)
Amazing food! So many gluten free options, we kept coming back!
Nice vegan/vegetarian menu. Food was tasty and hot. Nice seating area outside. Very nice staff. If you found this review helpful, please "like"it.
I got the Mushroom Shawarma bowl with mixed greens and it was a really good delightful lunch. The sauce was a tad sweet and sour (like 3 sweet : 7 sour) which was right amount of tangy-ness for me and for those who like pickled cabbage + cucumbers and vinegary flavor.
My boyfriend had the falafel pita that was filled with hearty falafels and veggies. Again, very healthy lunch to get. The pita bread was fairly thin which he expected to be a thicker, original pita bread but I liked them thin. I guess it’s just personal preferences.
Also, I thought the packaging was clever. You can tear the mid-section of the sandwich box as you get to the bottom without getting stuff on your hands or spill. Also, the stuffing is inside of a little pita bread sack haha :)
The soup of the day was black lentil soup and it was super good! It’s very savory and delicious.
I was traveling in DC and hope they open one in Charlotte area too!
This is one of the best fast-casual restaurants in DC. I've never had a bad meal here. It's hard to believe everything is plant-based! And the spice combinations make you want to savor every bite. Who knew healthy food could taste so delicious?
One of the best sandwiches I've had! I had the shouk burger and sweet potato fries. Sandwich has the perfect blend of flavors! Staff were friendly and helpful. It was my first time but will definitely be back.
You just never can go wrong eating here, there's not one bad thing on the menu. Service is fast and friendly.
Must go quick stop between museums and Chinatown. I could not tell it was vegan when I went, and the menu was super creative! Their to-go boxes for pita sandwiches are both practical and amazingly creative and sustainable, so basically if you like flavorful food and forward thinking establishments you will stop by.
Shouk burger is amazing. Also the salads are great and very generous portion size. A lot of food for the price and taste great. Highly recommend if you are looking for good vegetarian options!!
I'm not a vegetarian but we wandered in here before going to the Auto Show at the Convention Center. I thought the Shouk Burger was very good. Not sure what it is made of but it was substantial and tasty. My wife had the falafel and said it was also quite good.
Incredibly tasty food! I have such a joyous dilemna here in that as a vegan I am not accustomed to so many wonderful options. I try something different every time and have never been disappointed. I placed a catering order for work from Shouk and even the carnivores were raving about it weeks later.
Nice enough decor, could have been cleaner. My basic issue is that they don't serve alcohol. Sweet pomegranate drink or sweet mango drink or sweet anything drink with lunch or dinner should really be limited to children in my opinion. Also no meat on the menu I think, not an issue in and of itself but when coupled with the alcohol restriction makes for 3 stars at best.
This is a really solid vegetarian spot that I would enjoy coming back to!
I came by here on a recommendation and I was glad I did. It is a nice simple concept here where you pick your base (pita, rice & lentils, or mixed greens) and then pick your meal of choice. Ordering is pretty straight forward and you can get a salad, along with sides as well. I decided to get the Falafel with rice & lentils.
My friends and I really enjoyed our meals. The Falafel was prepared well and had a nice texture and taste as it was soft on the inside yet crisp on the outside! It really was very satisfying and fresh. I was also able to try their Polenta fries which had a good crisp taste to them. I think next time the oyster mushroom shawarma will be the target!
For vegetarians, I definitely recommend coming here, and others as well!
Fantastic and very satisfying vegan food. The eggplant “burger” is to die for. Another favorite is the polenta fires. I am a carnivore but can honestly say that their food is better than the juiciest shawarma you can find in the Middle East. The ambiance is nice in a Spartan way and service is fast and pleasant. I hope they add more locations around town.
Great veggie fast food. Everything was top quality, including the choice of drinks. The restaurant is small, but it has a great vibe and good prices for the location and for the yummy quality you get. I will definitely visit this restaurant again in DC.
Cute, hip, and super clean operation. Now, this is a vegan place, which I instinctively avoid and loathe for personal reasons, but this place makes fantastic food considering its self-imposed culinary restrictions. The veggie burger is outstanding, as are the polenta fries, as are their pita bread and salads. Spice and salt levels are perfect, and everything is fresh, and tasty. One negative: they nickel-and-dime you on the small stuff; they even charge you for Harissa sauce, which I thought was a bit rich. I ate here twice in two days. Fantastic find so close to the convention center!
Shouk is a delightful and delicious Israeli restaurant with a tasty assortment of traditional vegetarian dishes. You cannot go wrong with their filafel, hummus, or Shouk burger. If you are looking for fast but wholesome food near the DC Convention Center this is the place to eat at.
The guy at the register was so enthusiastic! Awesome service, and even better food! The mushroom bowl was delicious. Huge portabella mushrooms and lots of delicious spices. Got my bowl to-go but ended up devouring it all there. I will definitely be back!
This place is all around incredible. The falafel is the best around.
Good hummus and mushrooms. Doesn’t take cash. Getting a receipt requires signing up for their mailing list.
Shouk is FANTASTIC. The staff who work there are incredibly helpful and friendly (they joke with us, remembered our dog after only one visit, and give great recommendations). My girlfriend and I are vegetarian, and LOVE the falafel pita, the shouk salad, and the Shouk veggie burger. It’s also a great place to grab hummus and pita to snack on, and play connect four on their patio.
Great Food, a little bit pricey, but what isn't in this area. Very friendly staff, nice outdoor seating (limited). Definitely recommend the Shouk Burger. Also tried to polenta fries and was a but underwhelmed, could use stronger seasoning or a spicier sauce option than tomato. The smells inside this place are just fantastic.
This is the real deal! I visited Shouk for lunch just 2 weeks after being Israel, it is no doubt as authentic you are going to find. Food is excellent, some of the best humus I’ve ever had. Place feels trendy, and similar to a fast casual Chipotle style order process.
Great food. I'm normally not a fan of vegan restaurants/recipes but Shouk is a major exception. Unlike other vegetarian places, it doesn't try to replicate the taste of meat. Rather, they make their own recipes that combine flavors from throughout the middle east into some truly spectacular dishes. Try the black bean burger with a side of harissa!
The cauliflower lentil and rice bowl was delicious and flavorful with the harissa to spice it up! Loved the hummus as well, the texture and flavor was perfect. You can also buy some spices there, like za'atar, which is a nice touch. Eco-conscious and everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It's nice to have a vegan option in a city that is so woefully behind on the vegetarian/vegan dining scene.
So delicious! Don't need to be vegan to enjoy! The falafel is fantastic, one sandwich is filling and affordable. The chocolate chip cookie is so worth it!
Only had the red lentils soup with a pita and humus. But it was very good. The kids liked the hummus as well. Pitas were baked fresh and we're light and fluffy. Highly recommended.
Shouk Burger on pita and sweet potato fries were incredible great plant-based fare.
From the location to the food this place is the best.
The store is small but big enough to fit everyone. The menu is amazing an the service is top notch.
The owner gave us samples and things that were not in the menu, and they didn't disappoint. Anything you get here will be delicious.
Can't wait to come back!
We've eaten here a couple of times because it's close to the Washington Stage Guild's theater. The menu isn't very big or varied, but we've liked the things we've ordered. And the atmosphere is plain, but that seems more than adequate. I don't usually like vegetarian restaurants, but I like Shouk!
This place has awesome food! Hard to pick just one item to rave about but I think the burger with a side of falafel is the best I've ever eaten! Everything is vegan so enjoy without guilt.
My first time going. I got cauliflower pita, polenta fries and tomato soup. Overall I thought the food was good, fresh and filling. I have a love hate with tahini sauce which is why I give the place 4 stars. I’ll definitely be back to try a different pita.
The roasted cauliflower and mushroom pitas are fantastic. The labneh is tart and outstanding. They also sell their tahini, so you can make your own awesome hummus at home.
I'm vegan. My wife isn't, and she's always suggesting this place. Easy to oblige.
Delicious food! I was pleasantly surprised. The Za'atar Cauliflower is fabulous.
I love that it's vegan, and most things sound really tasty. However I feel like they are spicing everything a bit too strongly, that the bitterness of the spices over power the dish. I would never get anything in the mujara bowl, cause that just adds even more spices. The cauliflower pita is the best.
Great food, clean, reasonable prices and friendly casual atmosphere. I liked the Shouk burger and vegan fries. Could use more sauces for dipping, and really like the fast casual style. Would go again if I didn't have to drive 30 min into DC. Build me a local store, please!!
"Tasty," while accurate, doesn't do it justice - Shouk has a creative and complementary selection of ingredients on their menu. Came by twice during a conference and got my food quickly and was able to take a moment to savor my filling pitas. Beyond the elevated munch-factor, staff was v personable and engaging. Wish I lived here to eat regularly.
It was so so good and completely vegan and everyone there was SO nice, they even gave us free fries for forgetting to put them on our original order and they also played really good music. 10/10 experience. Also the portions were absolutely huge
Very good fresh tasty food.
Great service! It's my first day in Washington DC, and I was shocked at being greeted by everyone in the restaurant! But that's not all, I was treated to excellent food! I had the Mushroom Sharma (salad version) and it oh so yummy! I highly recommend this place!
This place is absolutely fantastic. The food is delicious, healthy, animal-friendly (vegan), and very reasonably priced. The staff is first-rate. Extremely friendly and considerate service. I strongly recommend checking out Shouk if you're in the area. I'm looking forward to going again soon.
Absolutely amazing! Their signature burger was one of the best I've ever eaten, not just among veggie burgers but ALL types. Very fresh and full of flavour. Highly recommended!
We wanted something quick before the Wizards game so we ordered two rice and lentil bowls, one with the eggplant burger and one black bean with added falafel.
Far exceeded our expectations! The eggplant patty was flavorful and filling and the pickled cabbage complimented it perfectly.
The delicious black bean bowl, just the right amount of spicy due to the harissa, was made even better with the addition of sweet potatoes and fresh falafel (that wasn't at all dry/burnt as is often the case at other restaurants).
Can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu, starting with the mushroom shawarma! 👍🏼😋
OMG. I am new to DC, attending a convention. I am a strict WFPB vegetarian. Looked for a lunch spot close to fit my needs. Let me just say, sitting here savoring every bite, I am in heaven! Everything on the menu looked so good, so I just randomly chose the Shouk burger, a side of hummus, and the lentil soup. I’m thinking that if this food that I chose tastes this AWESOME, you could pretty much go in there, close your eyes and pick three —and it doesn’t matter what three —the food is going to be amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you for existing, Shouk!
BEST sandwiches ever
Not a particularly busy place but delicious food
Tasty food, nice variety for vegans; 4 stars
Order was wrong; 3 stars
Pleasant customer service to make it right; 5 stars
Great pita sandwiches. We are vegetarians, and liked the fact that this is a vegan shop. We ordered the Shouk Pita and Mushroom Pita with Sweet potato fries. And the Israeli ketchup was also awesome.
Needed at light late lunch while attending a conference at the convention center, Shouk was perfect. Fantastically fresh falafel on a tasty bed of fresh greens . Half a dozen other options all vegetarian. Friendly staff and cheerful middle eastern music made fir a warm vibe on a cold wet DC afternoon.
Quick, delicious, vegetarian food! The menu is simple: just choose whether you want a pita, salad, or burger and narrow it down with the fillings/toppings from there. It took my girlfriend less than 2 minutes to order what she wanted, whereas I'm usually done with my food by the time she decides.
We found this place looking for another restaurant and boy do glad we did. Had the black bean and sweet potato pita - excellent. Daughter had the Shouk burger and it was amazing. All vegetarian - very good.
If you like seasonal, mild or not so spicy food, sweet potato fries, and friendly service...this is the place to go. Soups are delicious! Be sure to get a Rosemary Lemonade to chill the backfire on their harissa sauce, otherwise lightly salted and no sugary extremes. Quick bite without a crowd? 2pm - 4pm.
My girl (who I call my bumble bug) and I drove an hour away to eat here. I CANNOT recommend the mushroom burger enough. They straight PACK it with mushrooms. My girl got a thicc eggplant burger on a bed of kale amongst other healthy greens. Don't get me started on those succulent lemon ball dates, I still think about them from time to time.
I've ordered Shouk on UberEats and it was amazing, I was so excited to check out the store. Brittany, who helped me make a decision on what to get was literally one of the best energies I've ever met. If she didn't seem like she loved her job so much, I may have tried to recruit her :) but really, she made the experience great and the food is outstanding!
So much of me wants to rate this place 5 stars. I mean- it's 100% vegan, good portions, quick service, friendly atmosphere, cool design.
Cons: food quality just ok. Nothing outstanding or extremely flavorful so far (wish they used organic ingredients).
The whole vibe feels a bit impersonal. Not that much passion for food. Definitely passion for aesthetic and branding.. but food could have been more refined (smaller cuts and local/organic..)
Awesome vegan restaurant in the DMV. Make it your jam, too.
Shouk is vegan done right! The food is tasty ample and downright delicious. Non-vegans, non-vegetarians, would enjoy Shouk. My omnivorous son like it so much we are definitely going back! Full disclosure colon: one of my nieces is a chef there, however that is not why I gave Shouk high praises. That's just a personal extra. I think I make her nervous when I dine there, because she knows if I don't enjoy it she'll be the second person to know it. Why the second? Because I would be the first! LOL! However I don't see that happening. Can't wait to my next visit and Donnie experience.
The housemade veggie burger lived up to the hype. Super good served on mixed greens. They were sampling some type of chocolate mousse or pudding which was also delicious.
Incredible food. The nicest people. I've loved everything I've ever ordered here, it's definitely my favorite vegan spot in the DC area by a long shot.
Service was fast. Sausage bowl was great. Heard the mushroom dishes are great too!
The food is hearty and delicious, plus the staff are all friendly and seating is plentiful and cozy. It is a hip place without being pretentious. They only take card, not cash - but if you need, you can always buy a Visa prepaid from the CVS next door to pay.
Always delicious and fresh, unique flavors you can't find anywhere else in the city. A must-try for fans of plant-based food or Middle Eastern flavors!
You simply must try this plant based Israeli food. We loved the falafel and the beet salad. Sweet potato fries were yummy too and had just the right amount of salt on them.
The fried oyster mushroom sandwich was awesome. Very easy convenient no contact ordering and service. Wait wasn't long at all. Definitely recommend this place.
Vegan, cheap priced vegan food in what seems like near the center of DC! My friends and I stopped by for dinner after the March for our Lives protest and everything from the bowls and pitas to the fries and cookies were delicious. Would definitely come to again. I wish they had a Shouk in my hometown!
Simply amazing!! Don't miss this place! I had the fennel pita and the shouk salad and my palate was delighted beyond my expectations! The prices are reasonable, at $9.75 when I went and the night before I had enjoyed a much more expensive and exquisite meal at Zaytinia ($50) that rivals the flavors and originality of this place!
Food is good. But staff is obnoxious and makes you want to get a refund. Crazy.
Great vegetarian restaurant
Excellent, authentic Israeli food! A bit on the pricey side for what you get, but overall a cool atmosphere with healthy food options. I could justify the price a little better if it wasn't counter service.
Friendly staff, easy choices and great place if you are vegan/vegetarian or just prefer meat-free meals every once in a while. Really enjoyed the falafel and will be back for the mushroom and eggplant burgers
Simple menu and everything on it is simply delicious. Be careful, it's bigger than you think. A hummus bowl isn't a side to share in addition to your own meal, it's its own meal outright!
fantastic food, if you've never had Israeli style chow you need to give this a try. The servings are filling and the spicy harissa sauce is straight fire. Get some.
Incredibly friendly staff! They made sure I got the freshest cookies (which are amazing BTW). The shouk burger lives up to the hype, and it’s much bigger than I anticipated. Well worth every penny.
Great, easy, fast, healthy vegan food!
Quickly becoming one of our favourite spots in the city! Everything is vegan and gluten-free besides the pita bread, and the majedra option is a definite gluten-free upgrade! The "burger" and lentil soup with almond "yogurt" sauce are delicious, despite an annoying add-on fee. Backgammon and checkers boards are missing pieces but are welcome distractions while you wait. Unique location and vibe.
This place is just an absolutely wonderful place to go get a hearty healthy meal. Everything I order from here is so satisfying. You will not be disappointed if you come here.
Nice and clean.
The food was great and didn't feel too oily
The quality of food and flavors for a fast food restaurant is unmatched. Oyster mushroom shawarma is the best with cauliflower added. I came here twice in one day!
We have ordered many times for Hood drop. Food is consistently OUTSTANDING! I need GF and appreciate their care in marking items that are GF and replying to email and phone questions. French fries are GF!!!!
Great food, great music, great atmosphere. I really tried to eat slowly and wanted to hang around more after I finished my pita. Tried the burger and the cauliflower, both were excellent.
Yes! Delicious plant-based food served in generous portions and everything is compostable - even the cutlery! Nice atmosphere too - they played some nice middle eastern/balkan music amidst some more questionable american tracks (which broke the spell for me a bit :)
Go!
Saw this place in passing and stopped in. Everything I had was really good and filling while still being healthy. I like that you can get some of the foods in a pita or as a rice and lentil bowl. They were also very friendly and service was quick.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff were very helpful and friendly the service was quick and the food was delicious. My friend said it was one of the best veggie burgers he'd had in his life so that's a testament to how good this place is.
All vegan (and super filling and flavourful) middle eastern inspired food. Cheap! Busy for lunch but not for dinner. Limited seating inside, but does carry-out and allows advance ordering.
Delectable, vegan grub! Check em out and you won't be disappointed. I ordered a sweet potato and black bean pita and my i swear by the old gods and the new that that thing had the bards singing tales of its glory and will continue for decades to come.
Some of the best vegan food in DC. The staff is always super friendly too. My favorites are the Shouk burger and choco-cardamom cookie. Seriously, get that cookie!
Wonderful place. Really enjoyed the almond delight. Had the lentil pita and sweet potato fries to eat; both were excellent. Restaurant itself is really well designed, too.
For an Israeli fast food place in the US, it was quite good, but it would have been average in Israel. The fact that it´s all vegan is a huge plus though, and the prices are not insane.
The ordering/payment system was super efficient and the mushroom schwarma was awesome. This vegan is very pleased.
Very friendly crew. I needed some help to decide and a young lady and gentleman helped me. Vegan choices are good. I took the bean burger and sweet potato fries. Both were very good. Good experience. Will come back if in the locality. $$
We had the hummus mushroom bowl with pita and it was fantastic! Very delicious and authentic food, we will be coming back!
Really good staff and amazing food. Great options, flavors, and spices. The pita was also incredible... Very big but didn't fall apart
Come to NY please!! FLATBUSH Brooklyn to be exact.
Fantastic burger, ordered harissa on the side plus glass of tap red wine. Hope it does well; visited at 5:45pm on a Thursday and it didn't have much business. Two large tables outside and three large tables inside. Water's free.
Excellent place to get vegan food in DC! Friendly environment and super great tasting food.
The sweet potato fries with cashew labneh is a must have. They're literally the best sweet potato fries. Both the eggplant burger and cauliflower pita are great
I had an absolutely delightful experience. I had the veggie burger and polenta fries. How delicious. I've never had a better vegan experience. The chocolate chip cookie was bomb.
The menu isn't huge, but there were enough choices for us to find things to eat. Seating is limited and they encourage community seating. After ordering, you wait for your name to be called and go pick up from the counter. Food came quickly and was quite good.
Loved this place - from its conservationist policies to its healthful vegetarian Middle Eastern food. Not for those who do not have that palate (couldn't bring my meat and potatoes bland kind of boyfriend), but had a great time with my fellow foodie, vegetarian healthfood conscious sister. They had some spicy dishes, and the perfect liberal use of cumin and zaatar throughout. The sweet potato zaatar fries were addictive. The mededra was a little chewy. Overall trendy ambiance as well. Moderately priced. Would love to go back to try more creative options. Expect to leave full.
This place is excellent. I had the Shouk burger and it was uniquely delicious. I look forward to coming back to try the rest of the menu. An amazing place for vegetarians like me.
Amazing!!! Visited here for dinner while in DC for work and it was a just short walk from the convention center. They were super fast and the food was delicious and large proportioned, so it was a really good value. Will definitely be back!!
Absolutely amazing fried "chicken" pita. Great environment and awesome to have such a good meat-free option.
The food is good especially if you're avoiding meat, but pricey. I don't feel like the portion sizes are sufficient either. I need to supplement with something else, where other comparable lunch spots I don't need to. This is probably a once a year kind of place for me.
Wow! First time in D.C. for the Women's March on Washington and this was our first stop for food. They bought our lunch in support of women and the march! The food is so fresh fresh. We got the beet salad and the shouk salad. SO GOOD.
This place is AMAZING. The food was fresh, the staff were so nice and it was QUICK. The mushroom shawarma was a little salty but overall it was great. Highly recommend!
Always delicious food - portions are great and have never had a bad meal at Shouk!
The food is excellent, the atmosphere is laid back and pleasant, the music is great (every time we've been, and we've been a lot!), they have excellent tap beer at a great price, and the proprietor is super-friendly and cool. This is our new favorite place in D.C.
UPDATE: The owner, Ran, saw my Yelp review and responded right away and took my feedback well. He even made sure more pita is served with the dips. Well done! Because of that, I am giving them 4 stars. Thanks, Shouk. P.S. They did NOT give me any free stuff at all to update my review. I am just impressed they took feedback and changed because of it!

A new plant based Middle Eastern fast casual restaurant? Yes, please!
Shouk is in a cool part of town (Mt. Vernon) and in a fun, hip building with a great restaurant design with a raised second level of seating. The food is all very tasty and flavorful and feels healthier.
I ordered the lentil pita and the cashew hummus with pita and tap wine. It all was great! The lentil pita was spicy, but not overwhelming. The tap wine is only $6 and you get a full glass. The cashew hummus...oh, wow...I will be back for that. It is AMAZING! Like AMAZING! I cannot say it enough.
The only reason I'm giving it a 2-star is because the prices (outside of the wine) are insane. It's $9+ for a very small pita and when you order hummus it comes with only four strips of pita making you buy another which they charge you for. We enjoyed our food, but we left still hungry and paying close to what we'd pay at a nicer sit down restaurant. If it wasn't fast-casual, it would have been fine, but we all think cheaper when we think fast-casual. Because of this, I don't see Shouk lasting.
In the end, if you go, go for the cashew hummus, but just buy that and save some dollars by getting your own pita at the nearby Safeway.
Food was amazing! Service was amazing! Prices were great! Overall really great experience!
The food here is excellent... Definitely worth 6 stars! The service is prompt. The seating can be a bit scarce during lunch. It's great to go with small groups or solo.
The pita was worth the visit. I've never had one this good. The sodas, the fries, the mains, all delicious (I've had.most of the menu). Stop in. You'll be surprised but not disappointed.
Everything is plant based! I had mushroom shawarma and it was delicious👍 …
I had never heard of this restaurant before passing by and stopping in but it was delicious! I had the shouk burger by recommendation of one of the workers and was not disappointed. Great flavors in the burger and the sauce alike and vegetarian!
Awesome for a quick lunch from the convention center. I used online ordering from the convention center and was able to bypass the long line of other convention goers trying to get lunch. It was very convenient and quick. Food was unusual and tasty, if a bit salty.
Had the signature shouk burger. For $12 it was expensive but worth it. Grilled taste and fresh veggies were delicious, but it seemed dry at times (extra sauce is $.75)
Just flew in town. Amazing food, friendly staff and really fast service! My teenage daughter unfortunately wasn't impressed. I loved it so did my husband who's not a vegan.
We went here for lunch after visiting the convention center. Fast casual vegetarian restaurant with very tasty food. We tried the burger, polenta fries, and cauliflower pita. All very delicious. Will definitely stop by again when I am in the area.
I LOVED the food here. I'm vegan and there were tons of fantastic options that make my mouth water just thinking about it!
No IPA beer. That’s my only complaint. The stout is pretty good though. The burgers are amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. Cool design and awesome people.
Now that is some seriously gorgeous vegan food! A stylistically basic eatery whose plain and simple looks belie the quality of the food.
Note that when they say spicy they mean it.
didn't know shouk and passed it on the sidewalk. best random decision I could have made. delicious! veggie burger and red lentil soup were superbly recommended by staff inside. thank you!
The eggplant burger was the best! The spice is super flavorful but isn't very hot for those heat seekers.
Incredible plant based food. I had the "burger," which was excellent, a little crunchy and really tasty. Took a salad for later but everything looked amazing. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Absolutely amazing!!! One of the best places I've eaten in my life, and only $10. I got the breakfast pita and my girlfriend got the Ratatouille pita. Go here.
Great vegan food one of the best and nice customer service.
If you like vegatarian food it's 5 star...Falafel, Meat alternatives...Warning: if you're with someone who's not into this cuisine dont go here. Its strictly vegatarian and they dont offer traditional kabobs with meat.
All-vegan restaurant with a unique take on eastern-Mediterranean food. Tasty, though you won't find some things you'd expect (falafel, hummus w/ pita, etc.)
Great food. You probably wouldn't know it was vegan if you didn't know. You do not miss the lack of meat. The spot is a bit small if you plan on eating here, but give it a try.
Amazing staff with great food.. very knowledgeable. We got the shouk burger and the black beans on lentils and rice.. the black bean tasted like chilli which I really enjoyed. Cute place
The best falafals on the East Coast, the MushroomShwarma is dabomb! Everything is vegan!!!! Our hot spot.
Healthy and tasty food served by friendly people. Highly recommend
Eyal Shani is a chef with a philosophy in culinary. He has even perfected the art of the Israeli street food and it's ALL VEGAN💚
I highly recommend the SHOUK! …
Just had the NEW eggplant pita and it was amazing -- the best thing they offer. It's eggplant, potato, pickled red cabbage, amba (middle eastern sauce) and tahini. Must go and try it!!
Reasonably priced and generous portions if you get a bowl. Also very much appreciate that they clearly mark what items are or can be made gluten free!
Excellent food good size proportions
Coming from out of town, I was excited to get food from a fully vegan restaurant.
A+++ veggie burger! The best I have ever had. The staff were super friendly. Next time I’m in the area I will definitely come back!
Friendly service with awesome food. The sweet potato fries were like a delicious dessert! Get the Shouk Burger, you will not regret it!
Great vegetarian sandwiches. Both the cauliflower and mushroom pitas are delicious. Spicy harissa is delicious and pretty spicy
Oof seriously I'd eat here every single day if I could!
Great place you should go really cool
Great food! I highly recommend the cauliflower rice & lentil bowls. Also the chickpea r/l bowl and the ratatouille r/l bowl are great.
Outstanding flavors. Worth the price.
Plus best Plant bakes chocolate/Cardamon cookie I’ve ever had!
Amazing vegan place! The shouk burger and their falafel is INCREDIBLE! Highly recommended!
Tasty, healthy-ish vegan Israeli food. In my opinion, some of the best, quick bites near the DC Convention Center.
Great place with such a nice vibe. The fennel mujadra was good but I'll try the burger next time. The "not so light" craft beer was outstanding.
The best vegan place in the city! My absolutely favorite is the Shouk Pita Mushroom. They even have vegan cookies, love this place!
Everything is fresh and pretty high quality. Be wary however, the food is super high in fiber content. I recommend the Shouk Burger in a bowl with harissa
Some of my favorite French Fries around!
French fries, or simply fries, chips, finger chips, or French-fried potatoes, are batonnet or allumette-cut deep-fried potatoes.
Pretty cool!
The mushroom shawarma is so good and so are the falafel! Generous portions on the rice & lentil bowl.
Great vibe. Tasty and unique food. Friendly staff. I do like meat, but nevertheless feel fine with coming here for a good meal.
Unbelievable food. The best vegan fast casual in the area. Struggles in the small footprint during busy times, but staff is amazing!
I am a dyed in the wool carnivore and I love this place! Super flavorful. Really, can't recommend it enough.
Vegan restaurant with middle eastern style food. We tried the salad, pita and soups, all were great. Try the Harissa chilli sauce.
This is one place that I want to have my burger everyday! Delicious burger served in a big portion. And I only paid $12! This one is close to the Washington Convention Center!
The shawarma hummus bowl is so delicious! The mushrooms are to die for..vegan happiness
I LOVVEEE this place!! Great energy and food! Everything fresh and you can see it being made right in front of you! Customer service is purely energetic and family-like, one sync vibe. SUBSCRIBE to my YT (youtube) channel and see the interview on shouk!😘 …
Amazing flavor in all the food I've ever had here. One of the best vegan friendly places in DC!
Great food that can be split between two people. Sadly, the polenta fries are no longer offered at either location.
Very nice place for vegetarians especially if you love Mediterranean tastes enriched with spices. One of the best in DC!
Loved the food. hard to imagine its all Vegan. have been here thrice in a month already. Would be visiting soon.
The few items we tried during our stay were all awesome. Didn't imagine all vegan food can be so tasty.
Decent place, very expensive. A pita wrap should not cost around $11. That's outrageous. Tastes ok.
Very fast and friendly service! Great food, and atmosphere. Has market style seating, and games on each table, encouraging conversation, instead of active phone usage
Very delicious! Quick to order and tasted fantastic. Perfect options for vegetarian and vegan!
Great service and the black bean pita was tasty but fairly small. If you're hungry I'd recommend ordering a side as well.
Authentic, delicious, cheap and with a pleasan middle eastern environment.
Feels like a quick trip to the middle east.
And the food: W~O~W ♡♡
Best in DC indeed 😉
Easily the best vegan, GF burger in the city - with incredible staff! Order the burger and polenta fries - you can't go wrong!
This place is amazing, if it is your first time order Hummus and a shouk burger and you will convert to veganism for the food.
Went in with a lot of expectation. The falafel itself was ok' ish , the rice and sauce was just ok.
I just here visiting and this is by far the best food experience I’ve had. All of the staff is exceptionally nice and the food is wonderful. Highly recommend checking it out!
this place! Such a great option for Mediterranean and vegetarian food! The service was phenomenal and quick, I had such a great experience
Great Customer Service, very timely in recieving your order. Shouk burger is the best. Great Salads...Definetely worth the time and Money.
Very good, fresh and tasty Middle Eastern... Lots for a vegetarian or vegan to like. I can recommend the falafel.
Service excellent even with 30 minutes before closing... Allen was awesome. I would have given it 5 stars if they accepted cash. Seems very exclusionary. I'll give that some thought I just hate that that's a possible new trend in the Washington DC area
Recycling - especially the beverage containers and the clean boxes - fits so well with Shouk's Earth friendly theme. Food superb!
Casual, vegan place offering traditional Middle Eastern flavors in a more familiar, American package.
Quick service and great kosher vegan/healthy food!
2 minute walk from the Washington Convention Center if you are looking for a quick bite.
I love that place good falafels hummus and vegetables
Loved food. One of the best tasting vegan food. Shouk burger is really good.
Really tasty. I had the mushroom shawarma which was delicious. Also, they had some fun middle eastern music playing.
great food great service and everything is so colorful and interesting
BEST veggie burgers / pitas in DC area - hands down!
It's perfect if you're a vegan. Otherwise, it's just good. However, Dalila was incredible with the service.
Food is excellent. We placed order online, to be picked up in 10 minutes. Was ready on time, warm and luscious.
Amazing burger, you will not miss the meat. There are so many layers of flavor, it's a must have.
Cool little place. Decorated very homie. The food is good and fresh. Smaller portions then most food joints. Vegan/vegetarian
Love this place. Best veggie burgers around. My only choice for plant based vegan options in the downtown area
The best falafels in town! Owners are super friendly and the space is very clean and open. Good cheap eat.
Like how they do everything on line, really like the lentil soup. Every thing else was good as well.
Such delicious flavors and creative recipes. A great find for New Year's Eve takeout!
Both dishes we had for lunch were very, very good. The prices were very reasonable and the food was out quickly.
Sandwiches are out of this world! Fun atmosphere, fast service and nice employees! Wish there was one in Richmond Va.
The salad was delicious. Unfortunately two other dishes were so salty (falafel and should burger) that it ruined it.
Polenta fries are unstoppable! Awesome falafel. Cash free, be ready for that. Fast, good service.
I had these sweet potato fries with spices on them and they were fantastic! The music and atmosphere of the place is great too
What a wonderful location with delicious food. Very healthy and satisfying. Shalom!!!
I especially loved the employee Lindsay! She was so helpful. Good vegan options.
Great mini pizza and delicious and filling vegan burger in a pitas bun. A bit in the pricey side.
Great food. It's surprising that it's vegan, because it doesn't taste like typical vegan food.
Great vegetarian/vegan options with lots of flavor. Can't praise enough. Ambience and music looks cool too.
Holy Shouk! Awesome, wholesome vegan food! Came twice in one day and I'll definitely come again.
VERY GOOD FOOD!! The best hummus I've ever had!
Easily the best tasting vegan burger I've ever tasted. Maybe the best burger. No comparison.
Excellent sandwiches, very fresh and authentic! Get some harissa on the side for an extra kick!
New discovery for me in DC. Great hamburger, yummy soup,( go for a large cup) and savory fries.
Great vegan food. Amazing service. Filling and tasty. Highly recommend it!!!
Oyster mushroom shawarma was so amazing. Wanted one of everything off the menu, it looked so good!
Best Vegan quality food in town
great atmosphere!
Staff are awesome !
Love it!!
Great healthy vegetarian options. Cashew labnew is the bomb and the pita is the best ever!
