Reviews of BlackSalt

Always delectable! I have been to BlackSalt on many occasions, and the service is always fantastic. This visit was no different from my previous visits. It is the experience you expect with fine dining. From the oysters, to my entree of red snapper with truffle sauce, the food could not have been better! (And I didn’t think I would like the truffle sauce at all! I was so glad I was wrong.) I will, of course, be back again.

This was hands down the best seafood I've had in the metro area, it's pricey, but definitely worth it. Only downside was the waiter service was next to non-existent, but the was only one waiter for a while, so that can be forgiven. The folks cleaning up the tables were super fast though, so it was more a matter of putting the order in and dessert ordering. Still worth it.

I need another word other than amazing to describe my food and experience at this restaurant. This was one of the best branzino I have ever had. Also helpful it's filet and I don't have to deal with the bones. Everything taste great. Highly recommend.
Christina
Wonderful seafood place! Fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. We’re just visiting from overseas but would definitely come back if we lived in the area.

First day in DC , we were hungry and excited to try this place. The oyster selection is good and I would come for oysters alone! The dishes are decent too but my seabass tasted very different from any other seabass I’ve had. The texture was so firm that I felt it was a disappointment. We didn’t like the menu selection for the entree but they pretty much did whatever fish my kids asked for, very flexible with us.

Customer service at its best. This place has it all. Amazing food, great atmosphere, attention to detail, clean and cozy. My wife loves this place. I made a reservation for her birthday. The restaurant printed out a special menu with the date and a line saying “happy birthday” for our table .. Customized menus for us. How special is that???
After COVID many restaurants lost customer service , attention to detail. It seems like most restaurants are running short staff and it shows on the service level. NOT BLACKSALT
This place has it together.
Another example. When they brought our food, the ladies on the table get their plate 1st , then everyone else after. We noticed those details. That’s why they deserve 5 starts . Simply put, quality with taste.
I highly recommend it . Plus the food is amazing

Well executed food with great flavor! Also received teamwork approach who met our needs and made our experience smooth and relaxing. We have been coming for years.
David Hosey
Friendly atmosphere. Food was decent but the petit tower wasn’t as fresh as we would have hoped. Overall good experience
Russ Watts
Unparalleled. The combination of flavors, the timing of delivery (temperature is essential) and the quality is 6stars!
I have been coming here since opening, and the Black family, employees feel like family, and the groove is the best in DC. Hands down.

Best tuna I ever had in my 42 years. Who knew peanut sauce went with mangos and noodles?? Dear God, praise this place, and me, so I can come BACK!
Sun Lee
Great value for the happy hour. The calamari was incredibly fresh and I've never seen calamari at this size!
Steve Layden
Absolutely sensational food! I first ate here pre-covid when visiting Georgetown and it’s become a regular seafood addiction now that I live here. The seafood market is some of the freshest you can buy in the DC area and the restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Fresh, balanced cooking. Wood-grilled octopus, oysters, Spanish zarzuela-style seafood stew. Exceptional wine list and bar. And most important, a friendly staff who genuinely seem to love their jobs. Eat here if you’re ever in the area!
Ayaz Shaikhzadeh
Come here for absolutely delicious seafood prepared perfectly and presented impressively. Everything was well prepared and tasted wonderful. Good sized portion without being too big. Good choice of wines as well. Service was efficient, maybe a bit too efficient. Thoroughly recommended.
Steve O
The host was great and our waitress started off as a little cold but, then we found out she was the only one there. The calamari was Grrrreeeeaaaattt, especially the bread it was served on
Laila Awar Shouhayib
Anything, absolutely anything you eat at Blacksalt is made under the loving, watchful eye of it's manager, JJ. He is a jewel and his attention to detail continues to shine and keeps Blacksalt at the top 5 best restaurants in DC. The food is excellent and interesting; the wine list is delicious and the dessert is sublime.. We are lucky to have Blacksalt in the DC area. It is divine.

Wonderful service and food. Went for our anniversary and they treated us fabulously. My wife had the tuna which literally melts in the mouth. I had the American red snapper served with a (slightly) spicy mole. Very tasty!
BoZz B
This place does not disappoint. Each time the quality of the food and service are on point. Welcoming, warm, friendly but most of all very well prepared and presented dishes. Extensive wine list. My only negative was that our orders of the ahi tuna were almost cold when they came to our table. Definitely recommended.
hollyarthur1
This is my favorite restaurant in DC. The people, the food, the vibe...incredible.
Connor McLean
Very happy with my meal here. Went to Waffle House but line was long so we tried Black Salt. Service was quick, easy and very nice. I got the Buffalo wings and fried pickles and definitely a top 3 restaurants in blacksburg
Michael Waskewich
Great small spot with seafood at a good price. The service was excellent. Make a reservation and enjoy the evening.
Donald Hawkins
Make reservations, and go. Start to finish everything was outstanding. We went for my wife's birthday with friends. They have a very nice wine menu and a very knowledgeable wine Sommelier who will help you make a choice and not bust your purse. We started by sharing a seafood tower ( they will help you mix and match if you have food allergies at the table ). All our entrees were exceptional but I think the stand out dish of the night was the Sesame Crusted Halibut . My wife had the Bigeye Tuna and we had two orders of Thai Coconut & Galangal Seafood Stew ( Prawn, Snapper, Clams, Mussels, Scallop, Tamarind Rice Cake, Lime, Cilantro, Basil ) at the table. Apparently they felt they took to long bringing our entrees and comped us 4 deserts. We were enjoying the evenings conversation and thought the timing was perfect. Like the rest of the menu, the deserts are excellent.
Bryan Rogers
Thank you to everyone at BlackSalt for making my wife's birthday absolutely amazing. From the warm greeting we received upon arrival by the host, to the attentive servers, for the incredible tasting menu that we had,the personal touch on my wife's dessert, even down to our departure where the host thanked us for coming, everything was done in excellence and I again am truly thankful for making our evening an experience we'll never forget. You provided a meal that blew away our expectations and took my wife out of her comfort zone where she felt it was one of the best meals she's had. Even our water glasses remained full. I'm glad I came across this gem and we look forward to returning.
LaQuitta Dixon
I had the butter-poached lobster that was very chewy and the lasagna. The calamari was good and the crab cake had great flavor but wasn't "lumped".
Daisy de Santiago
I’ve been coming to BlackSalt for several years now, but I’m only now getting around to a review. I’ve had lunch and dinner in the main dining area but, quite frankly, I enjoy the vibe and offerings at the bar during happy hour.
The staff are hardworking and friendly. Now, for the food. Fresh! Flavorful! So good it will make you keep coming back.
My usual and top picks are oysters, Texas shrimp cocktail, and crab cakes for starters. Then the burger or mussels for my main course. The wine options for happy hour are quite good. They used to have Marques de Riscal; they’ve since switched over to Macedonian wines that are pretty decent.
On our recent visit a couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to look closer at their library of wines and was pleased to see a good inventory of Burgundy wines.
Oh, and if you’re a first-timer, they have a wet market right as you enter the restaurant. I am always fascinated by the variety of seafoods they carry. Love this place!
Madeleine England
This is a great place to experience some midatlantic fish and seafood. Not only is is a very nice restaurant, they also have a small market in the front where you can buy fresh fish, freshly baked bread, and other treats. My only real complaint is that the service was a bit slow and it took our server a very long time to even acknowledge our table the night we went.
The food, though, was outstanding. We started with several appetizers, including a sashimi dish, clam chowder, mussels, and the daily pasta special. The pasta was truly a standout, with a delicious bolognese and hand cut pappardelle pasta.
For our entrees, we tried the crab cakes, the rockfish, and the branzino. Everything was well prepared and very tasty. The crab cakes were almost entirely crab with very little filler, and had a delicious flavor. The rockfish was nicely prepared and the hash that came with it was beautiful and tangy. I liked that for the branzino we were given the option of having it served whole or already filleted. We opted to have it cleaned and filleted for us and thought the fish was delicious and moist.
We were impressed with the desert menu, which was extensive and creative. Our choices were a trio or creme brulee, and the caramel pot de creme, which was decadent and wonderful.
I would definitely go back to experience more of the menu.
Steve Perry
I have here a few times now and I have a good grasp of the place!
The people working here are all really awesome!
The bartenders to the Chef!
I highly recommend this place!
It is on the pricey side though!
The wine especially so!
They really need to work on there wine list!
If they did we would visit much more!
Great restaurant!
Not the best value around but it is in DC so the taxes are on the high side!
I would go here anytime as long as you are willing to spend 300 for a party of two!
Soraya H
Excellent service & food! Even though they only have indoor seating, tables were spaced out really well, didn’t feel the restaurant was overcrowded.
Michael Edmondson
Very good seafood restaurant. Exceptional fresh seafood and drinks. We were here for Valentine's with a larger group and the staff were very attentive and nice. They even stored our luggage quickly and safely since we came straight from the airport. Food is not cheap but it's great and the desserts were also top notch. Notice the chocolate flower!

We went to black salt with a fairly large party for as a retirement dinner. since we were able to make reservations at advance we ordered a tasting menu of 5 courses, with wine pairings. the dinner was exceptional with the Somali and maitre d giving us detailed explanations of the wines at how well they paired with the meal selections.
Black Salt is a restaurant in Palisades neighborhood of DC, and has a fish market at the front entrance at extensive dining in the rear of the restaurant. This is very fresh and the wine selection was very nice. In fact, the rear dining room has an entrance through a wine cellar area.
The servers really knew their stuff and it was white linen service at its best. Most of the servers were multilingual as well as some of the patrons adjacent to our table.
In addition to the tasting menu they have a very nice regular menu and I will have to go back to sample more dishes in the future.
Great menu great servers white linen service - black salt is certainly one of the five stars and possibly more.
the restaurant is on MacArthur boulevard where there is regular bus service and it's in a residential neighborhood so parking can be tricky and Uber maybe a good idea.
Michelle Bramucci
I went with my father for lunch and we had a great time. Our server was very attentive but we never felt rushed. The seafood was so fresh. We had raw oysters, red snapper over greens, and the provincial seafood stew. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend. Too full for dessert but the coffee was good.
Carolyn Frank
My family brought me here for a celebration dinner. The walk from the seafood mart through the casual dining booths area and the room with ceiling-high wine racks to the fine dining room was an enjoyable mini-tour in itself. Our server was gracious and provided explanations of both menu and special items but also of components of served items. In addition to a comprehensive wine selection, they also provided a reasonably wide selection of wine by the glass; I enjoyed a rose cava, which complemented the seafood. They brought a sampler of 3 types of tasty fresh breads/rolls and poured herbed olive oil for dipping. We started with Oysters Rockefeller (4), which featured decent size oysters that could stand up to the spinach and parmesan cheese. The burrata cheese plate included sweet roasted figs and tender prosciutto. For entrees, the crab cakes were all blue crab with the minimum filler needed to bind them; the fish stew was piquant not peppery and sported a huge prawn in addition to multiple type of bivalves and fish; and the butter poached lobster (the starter menu item doubled into an entree portion) featured an entire lobster perfected cooked, chopped into large bite-sized chunks and served atop a bed of balsamic-sweet mushrooms, pearl onions and cauliflower. For dessert the key lime tart with blueberry couli (served without whipped cream due to my lactose intolerance) actually tasted of key lime! Please forgive that the photos are presented in reverse order of the food described. Note: the restaurant does not have Wi-Fi so if using Lyft or Uber, need to visit the pizza place down the street to get a signal.
Kenneth Miles
Everyone that we encountered on the service team was exceptional. Making the anniversary for my girlfriend and I a wonderful experience. The food couldn't have been any better, thanks and kudos to the hands that prepared each dish!
Meme Smith
It was nice last min plan, first time having Caviar. Would had been nice to know the key notes of the Caviar before I had ordered....the drink was not great I had ordered Cocgnac cocktail that was ruined with a lemon. But over all it was nice I would try it again
Alyssa Lalashius
Amazing experience and atmosphere! Best burger I’ve had in a long time and the drinks were amazing! Definitely will be back
The Darkwarrior Perspective
This was my fourth time dinning there. I invited some friends, who had never been before. Now, they can't stop talking about it. The food, the service, the ambience is absolutely the best!
John Y
The staff's always friendly. The price of Lunch express menu is very good. But the quality of mussels can be disappointed depending on the season.
TheNaeKu
So amazing. Wonderful service. Incredible Food. Awesome experience.
D C
Fish market smell wasn't the most appealing but it's only at the front of the store. Rustic ambiance. Food was okay. Maybe a little overpriced for the amount of food. I got the french toast and it wasn't anything spectacular. I took a bite of my friend's burger and it was a little salty. Servers are great. 4 stars for them.
Mireia Buti
My favorite restaurant in DC! They have the best seafood and the freshest ingredients. Great desserts too. It's pricey but for special occasions is the best.
Anji Bedi
Amazing - for fresh fish. They have a market and buy from sustainable sources. We usually get the Ora King salmon from New Zealand; always good.
Restaurant is also pretty good albeit expensive. Great desserts.
BUSY BEE TEE Davis
Wasn't sure at first clam chowder perfect scallops perfect grilled octopus perfect
Ask for lobster and pawns from seafood market to be prepared excellent it was the greatest bomb must do again top notch service every one professional on their team
Monserrat Hellman
Customer service was everything at Black Salt. Everyone that helped us was extremely nice, especially Erick, our server. Food was delicious and the oysters were fresh as well as the mimosas that were made with freshly squeezed orange juice. Filo also helped my grandmother preorder some oysters for Thanksgiving. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!
MJ M
Everything we had to eat (seafood tower, octopus, dessert) was sensational. The bread they give prior to the rest of the food getting there is amazing. They drizzle an olive oil tapenade on a plate for dipping and THAT'S sensational too! The service, the drinks, the wine list, etc etc. All so very top notch. This place never disappoints anything but my wallet. Haha
Rhasaan Dark
We started with the octopus which came out as a type of fried rice with all sorts of flavors, also the calamari was amazing. Entrees, I had the chic pea crusted halibut, it was ok but I felt like it was a bit overcooked which was a little disappointing being halibut is one of my favorite fishes but the crabcakes on the other hand according to my two patrons were the best they've ever had. The price was not bad for the amount of food was too much for me to finish. I will return thanks to Eric and his training shadow my experience at Black Salt was exceptional!
Jenny Wu
The best restaurant in Washington, DC. The food is always fresh and tasty and the service is always top notch. I especially love the desserts here.
Brionne Griffin
We ordered baby octopus and fried sardines for our appetizers and were very pleased. The octopus was unbelievably fresh, and roasted to perfection. The sardines were equally as enjoyable and fresh. Even if you dislike sardines, I'd bet anything you'd love these.
For dinner, I had roasted Rockfish with pesto, polenta, and vegetables. It was masterfully seasoned and had a nice, crispy sear, while still maintaining its tender center. We also tried the crab cakes and we knew after one bite why they are Blacksalt's classic dish. You must try them.
Reid Detchon
Wonderful food but very expensive. Excellent service, nice quiet setting - a hidden gem.
Marcos Flores
Everyone here was soo helpful and friendly! Fish was so fresh!. I saw them how they were turning back a delivery because the fish was frozen.. Long story short, before coming here i called several distributors looking for a particular Gilt head Bream fish 🐠 with no luck. Spoke to the chef and he was able to find what i was looking for! …
Adrian Cummins
Everything was excellent from their COVID protocols to their cocktails to our meals. Awesome staff who made us feel at home. Will definitely return
Viv C.
If you want a good piece of fish, this is the place to go. Fish market in the front and fancy restaurant in the back.
S. P.
Amazing food. Our waiter was absolutely charming. Loved it. Very expensive but worth every penny.
LeBron Covington
Great food and great service! Frequent check-ins and even even specialized our menu for our anniversary.
Brian Gautreau
BlackSalt was absolutely fantastic. Our service was impeccable to start with but the food was the absolute highlight.
Had three items...
Japanese Hamachi Tartare (SUPERB!) fantastic flavors and great bites of fish on top of what I would've described as one of the best beds of avocado.
The Chilled Watermelon Gazpacho - again terrific flavors... spot on to the description and incredibly tasty
The BlackSalt Crab Cakes (AMAZING!) - very large crab cakes... more crab than cake and ohh so delicious! The crawfish ragout was outstanding too. Maybe a tiny touch of extra salt with the tasso, but hey that's about all i can say negative about the entire dish.
Alexandre Januário
Superb oysters, astonishing fish… go there for one of the best fish meals in Washington
Asher Puth
Fantastic decor and an even more fantastic menu. I loved the Mahi Mahi from Costa Rica and the Japanese beer.
Catherine Pierce
An absolutely fantastic place, you will go nowhere else to get really good fish once you try this restaurant. Some dishes have an Asian fusion twist.
Jamie X
Excellent experience here. Food was delicious. And the service we received was phenomenal. The calamari was excellent. I usually don't get dessert but everything was so lovely that I tried to sorbet. Had fantastic happy hour experience.
Craig Stoltz
Most telling observation: The bar is usually full of regulars eating dinner and cheerfully familiar to the staff. The food is creative, fresh, and well executed. Plates arrive Instagram-ready. The wine and cocktails are well-curated. This is not an inexpensive place: Even the happy hour selections -- which are way crazy better than nearly everywhere else -- are $12 to $18. Some entrees soar to $40 and $60+. We've had lovely seafood stew, and memorable lobster-crab ravioli in a sauce happily mopped up with bread. Only the price tag prevents us from becoming among those cheerful regulars.
Ronjon Ray
Best seafood, great wine list. A hidden gem just outside of the main parts of the city.
Jim Linsalata
Very nice decor and top notch service are highlights. Great oyster selection and limited but well prepared entrees. Thai inspired seafood stew was excellent with just.a little spice. Halibut was good but not great. Very good key lime pie for dessert.
Shareef Khatib
So few good fish restaurants in DC. This was phenomenal.
Joe Kim
Excellent seafood selection, ever changing menu along with excellent service.
ed sorensen
Best fish market in the planet. The quality of their product is stunning, and the service is exceptional. Freshest fish in DC!
Paul Krzych
BlackSalt is one of the finest seafood restaurants in the Washington, DC region and easily in my top five best restaurants in the city. Fresh seafood, imaginative, seasonal preparation, a top notch bar program, and excellent service are hallmarks at BlackSalt.
Eric Glasser
Excellent happy hour. The bartenders were top notch. I will come back to happy hour often.
Donna Murray
Ambiance is nice, staff is attentive & personable. The food was wonderful except for the crabcakes. They were not lumpmeat & terribly overpriced.
Nancy G
Arrived a few minutes early for our 6pm reservation. One other table was seated. At 6:30 our drinks arrived. At 6:40 our order was taken. At 7:30 our food arrived and was bland and soaked with oil. Took one bite of the fish, no flavor, one bite of the chickpea fries, they were soft and mushy. Pushed my plate away. The manager didn’t charge us for the main courses hence the 3 stars but the service was really lacking. Maybe it was an off night for their staff?
Liz T
Lunch was phenomenal. Hadn't been here in a few years and they have not skipped a beat. Octopus was fantastic.
Franco Fracyon
Food was good.
Disappointed in our server.
Not warm or friendly. I think that was just her personality. Never checked on our or really anyones table.
We would have had another drink if she came by to ask.
Seemed like she was busy herself eating dinner in the kitchen area.
You can have great food but if you don't get the full package then it takes away from the full experience. Not asking for any special treatment. Just make us feel comfortable and welcome.
Bruce Allen
Wonderful and quaint restaurant, great food, and I am picky. Fresh seafood and market, simple menu with great selections, great preparation and presentation. Our first dinner out since Covid. Wait staff and manager, JJ, all very helpful and pleasant although we were from out of town just visiting. Highly recommend. Octopus appetizer and oysters were especially tasty.
Alex Krentsel
Fantastic food at BlackSalt. The front of the restaurant has a fish market where you can buy fresh fish.
They have a happy hour 4pm-6pm with oysters, drinks, appetizers, and entrees. The oysters were delicious. They had ~6 different kinds.
Edrika
Loved it!👍🏾 GREAT service & scrumptious food. …
Steffie Steph
Great service, great food, even better drinks!!!
Tony Medina
Wonderful wine selection, food was exquisite!! In addition, service was top notch!!
We will be going back!! Thank you BlackSalt.
Ms. Dee
Celebrated my brother’s birthday here, the ambiance was perfect for the occasion. Was very impressed by their wine selection. The oysters, fish tacos, and lamb ravioli was on point!!!
Lee Dunn
Such fresh seafood and delicious cocktails. It remains a favorite spot of mine. Also was not crowded and very attentive staff. Thank you for making our birthday dinner fun!
Max Olack
Best thing about this restaurant is the grade of fish that they sell out of the market in the front. You will pay $30 a pound for some of their product but it's worth it. The restaurant itself is very non-conforming to Washington DC restaurants, you can peer into the kitchen from the dining room and see all the action which makes it that much better when you get your food knowing the work that went into your dish. Clientele can be kind of Stuffy but as soon as you get your food all that just Fades into the background. Oddly enough they have the best burger in town.
Vivi Vu
I came here for DC restaurant week. I have to say I am glad I tried it. However the dishes were on the smaller side of meals that I am used to. Never had swordfish before, and I would come back for it. Very tasty and not over cooked. Highly recommend that. The service was good. The server was very honest when we asked for recommendations and he did not disappoint!
Kendel Paulsen
Service was great. Food was 4/5. Too much butter in the stew broth. Calamari was very greasy. Rolls were unimpressive.
Josh Odintz
Superb fish and seafood. And desserts. Everything on the menu is great. Perfect for a date or business.
Tati K.
Amazing fresh delicious food! Excellent service!! Seafood!! Do not miss desert!!
Nelson Cortes
Went to this restaurant based on some friend's recommendation. We made reservations, and when arrived the table was ready. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Explained the menu, and the options we had.
We decided to have mussels, and scallops for appetizers. The scallops are a must in my perspective. Then we had whole grilled fish, and Halibut. Both were delicious, but I loved the Halibut. Definitely a place to try again. The fish is fresh and is amazingly cooked.
dick augustus
I am the biggest fan of Black Salt but tonight did not live up to my expectations. The waiter service was horrible and the food was not up to normal standards. The highlight was the busboy service, they were impeccable but the waiter disappeared most of our 2.5 hours and we had to call him over for everything...like ordering food and drinks and Cheque. I was there 2 Sundays ago and food and service were amazing...I ordered the exact same items Feb 9th and today Feb 23rd and the food was directionally the same but tonight smaller portions, lots of garlic, not as tender seafood. Honestly, it must be two different chefs...I preferred everything about the Feb 9 dining experience. I won't let tonight's off eve deter me from returning but I do hope the manager or owner revisit the quality of the waiter and food tonight because this is my favorite restaurant.
Inas Abdalla
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and it was nothing but 5 star all around! The room in the back was quiet, the lighting was great, the waiters were attentive and very nice, and the food was a whole experience! I got the wood fired calamari, I never new calamari could be as tender as pasta, I'm still dreaming about it! I got the Halibut entree, that was so good I ate my leftovers cold the next morning. I was a little scared about the gluten free chocolate cake but it was so decadent and delicious, I still have a little piece of it saved it the fridge for after dinner tonight. Honestly, HUGE compliments to the chef. I am a lover of food, love cooking, and my entertainment is watching food shows. This food was made with thought, passion and love! Anybody who's complaining about this place probably has no idea what good food is supposed to taste like or is nitpicking just to be annoying. My new fave seafood spot in the DMV HANDS DOWN !!
Ben M
Absolutely amazing meal, one of the best I've had in years. The fish is incredibly fresh and the flavors are excellent. The staff are impressively knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't get more hype in the DC restaurant scene. Just because it isn't the newest place doesn't mean it isn't wonderful.
clayton winters
Simply the best. From extraordinary service to amazing culinary delights, it's the place to go for seafood in the WMA. Not to mention the absolute best burger ever.
Greg Law
Some things were unbelievably excellent, like the Grilled Calamari. We love calamari and this was in a class by itself! Wonderful sauce, wonderful flavors - unique! Was in top 3 we've ever eaten and we are in our 50's :)
BUT some things were not so great, like the Big Eye Tuna my wife had...just had an odd flavor and she could not eat it. My King Salmon special was delicious but not worth the $40 price tag. I'd go back but you have to learn what's good....
Erick Helenihi
Absolutely fantastic food, but service was a little wanting. We had the baby octopus and a salad as appetizers, both were great. The John Dory special was my entree - also very good. Not a particularly large portion of fish, but you want to save room for dessert. The other entree was just a bowl of Clam Chowder, which was good, but not as great as other things. Partly because it wasn't a traditional creamy style like we had been expecting. Maybe that is our fault. Desert was Key Lime Pie and the Butterscotch Pot de Creme. Both were incredible. Very rich and difficult to finish after entrees and apps, but so so good. Service is the only thing preventing 5 stars. We got a quick greeting when we sat down, but when we said we needed time to pick out drinks, we didn't see anyone else for about 10 minutes. And it was finally a random person who took our drink order. The waiter didn't return for another 10 minutes at which point he took our order (and attempted to take the drink order, so that was not a coordinated helping hand earlier) but surprisingly, especially given the number of specials on the menu, didn't have anything to say about recommended or special items, which I thought was strange. I will certainly go back, and if the service was just a fluke, a similar food experience would change this to a 5 star review.
Cabell Maddux
Best Spicy Margs around. Once you get over the strong fish smell when you walk in, you will enjoy fresh seafood and an outstanding menu. Stick with seafood here. Oysters are solid option always. Back private room makes for festive large group party but with no windows you better not be claustrophobic. 😜 Catherine, the bartender/manager is a gem. Nicest person ever.
Bob Custis
The best restaurant in Washington, DC. The food is always fresh and tasty and the service is always top notch. I especially love the desserts here. Please don’t change a thing!
Tre Tre
First time here. This should be a Michelin Star. The food is fresh and so very good. The Customer service is everything. Offers a really nice price for three to four course lunch meals. The wines are so good. Highly recommend for date night or girls night out.
Robert Kibbe
Seafood was on the mark....as advertised. The halibut special was slightly bland, but the appetizers and standard fair dishes on the menu where solid. Service during a busy time of the evening was spot on. I'm adding this one to my "go-to" list in D.C. Predictable and served a group of 6 well.
Sharnece Holmes
Great ambiance and an array of brunch options that appease both sweet and savory pallets.

Came here for lunch with a group of friends. I love the small fish display they have in the front. We were promptly seated and our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the special for the day which was a salmon linguine dish with a bacon cream sauce. When I requested if I could have the dish without bacon, they offered to make an entirely new dish for me because the cream sauce was already made. So you could say I had my very own special. The dish I received was very impressive and the lemon butter sauce was exquisite. The cook on the salmon was perfect too. I had the key lime pie afterwards and the acidity from the lime was great to have on a hot summer day.
Kevin Kampschroer
Excellent fish cooked imaginatively, always absolutely fresh, good wine list, with many affordable choices, including champagnes. When the fish calls for it, the cooking can be simple, and then executed perfectly. There is also a fish market in the front of the restaurant, prices fair for the quality, not inexpensive. The tasting menu is usually a relative bargain, and might have some extraordinary dishes, and it is not an overwhelming amount of food, just right.
Christine Keating
I think this is a but over rated. It's good, but not ever blown away. The fish tacos were overly crunchy, had bits that were like large grains of sand. The tuna steak was very meaty, but needed a bit more seasoning. Fish sandwich very good, breaded cod, the batter does fall off, so get a good grip. Lunch items are served with thin fried potatoes, a like thicker than potato chips., doused in malt vinegar and salt They are really yummy! The corn bread basket to start is good too. Good local beer selection. Cocktails are pretty straight forward and solid.
Brunch on Sunday only. Lunch daily.
Alex Navarro
Excellent food. I’ve never had a meal I didn’t like here. Their prices are very high at dinner, but the lunch option is great! It’s also a great place to visit during restaurant week. The key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts there!
Lauren Roy
Fish Market and catering is outstanding. I have catered shrimp platters, Oysters (Fresh and Rockefeller) for gatherings at my home and they are beautifully prepared and garnished . ..the fresh, shucked Oysters are securely packed on ice so you can just bring home and serve. They also have great holiday catering menus and desserts!
Briana Fantauzzi
Delicious! Will definitely return. Great service and atmosphere.

Just left this place! We went here to celebrate my brother’s 23rd birthday and it was such a good experience. The service was great and the food was impeccable! Thank you for such a nice evening with my family :)
Haydar Celik
I was at Black Salt for lunch. I was impressed with the grilled swordfish. Tender swordfish is difficult to prepare and they cooked it perfectly. Classic cocktail was also so delicious. You can buy fresh fish here, which is great too. Prices are high but fish looked very fresh. I will go back for sure.
Anne Heelan
An exceptionally good restaurant. Each course was magnificent. Thank you
Kevin Wilson
Ive been to this restaurant several times and taken several very good Chefs with me. Great food, Excellent fresh product, thoughtfully prepared. The service team seems to be a little hit and miss at times. They are either smothering or hard to get hold of. That's a training issue. Otherwise a very good restaurant. It is a bit noisy as the place does get very busy and for good reason.
I'll come back as often as I can.
Bryan Nguyen
After going here several times, I can say that I absolutely love this place! The small fish market in the front of the restaurant has some really fresh and a nice selection of fish. The restaurant is not large, but looks very nice, and getting a view of the kitchen while eating is great! Love the Grilled Octopus and Mussels at BlackSalt, almost have to get it each time I come!
Michael McDonald
We have only been here for lunch, but it is an impressive restaurant. Known primarily as a seafood market and restaurant, it is tucked into a cozy strip of businesses on MacArthur Blvd. It is a neighborhood gem... unfortunately not my neighborhood! The service is gracious and efficient despite it's brisk and often heavy business. The lunch choices are all delicious, well prepared and quite a good value. Not a huge menu selection, but doesn't disappoint. Try the big eye tuna sandwich... very tasty!!
jason levitt
Short version- exceptional service, in a very well run and appointed space. Creative and detailed menu, well explained and articulated by the wait staff.
The food itself was pretty good, though not quite my style. That's personal preference more than anything.
Craig Spisak
This place has incredible food and impeccable service.
Alicia Klein
Catherine the bartender was one of the best I've ever been served by. Knowledgable , friendly, welcoming. All of the wait staff was wonderful, really. The selection of oysters was impressive. Wish they had more from northern waters but that said, the Black Salt oysters were hands down our favorites. And the wood fired sardines? For the love of all that is holy...
Tucker Snedeker
Awesome restaurant with amazing food but plan to have a car service waiting for you at the end of your meal. It took us over an hour to find a taxi. I was assured after reading other reviews and call to see if this was going to be a problem. The restaurant and hotel told me it shouldn't be too bad, but this wasn't the case and I should have listened to other reviews. The hotel in downtown ultimately sent a car to pick us up after I waited for an hour. The food was amazing so again I can't knock the restaurant, only the location and to warn other visitors to DC to plan accordingly.
N Shull
I really enjoyed the ambiance of having a fresh seafood market outfront. Seafood quality was excellent. Here for my stepmoms birthday, my family are big seafood fans. Aside from some of the top end sushi bars this place had the best quality seafood I've seen in DC. Unlike most places, seafood was not overcooked. Sauces were on point not overly salty or sweet. Portion sizes were about right not too large, but not small like some high end places. Not pretentious at all, but very respectful of ingredients. A bit expensive, but you're definitely buying quality. Big fan.
Wiz Kid
This is a restaurant that thinks outside of the box! Here you can have SPECTACULAR food and leave with fresh seafood to take home. A great place to celebrate special occasions as well as enjoy a SUPERB dinner. My food choices were GREAT! My hats off to the chefs. The staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. Restaurant is meticulously clean and I highly recommend that you give them a try. I truly enjoyed my experience here and I hope that you will too!
Samantha Townsley
Fantastic service. Delicious food. Went here for restaurant week for brunch and got the mahi mahi and crab eggs Benedict and both were spectacular. Even the appetizers of a salad and the honey granola were delicious. Highly recommend. Will definitely return.
Alexander O'Neill
Upscale neighborhood coffee shop with great brunch options
Amy Netherton
Upscale without the attitude- FINALLY! The front of house manager was incredibly gracious and even took interest in discussing Tobacco Harm Reduction. The food was amazing and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Nice find in the DC area and we will be back!
Ileana Gonzalez
No pictures of the food, since it was a business lunch. This restaurant is simply wonderful, the Rockfish with autumnal vegetables was fabulous. The Rockfish was so fresh, seasoned lightly and cooked perfectly, nice and flakey result it was absolutely delicious; the vegetables and sauce made my mouth happy, they were very very good. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was knowledgeable, gave good suggestions, kept our drinks filled and was on point. Thank you BlackSalt!

This was the first time dining at BS Restaurant. My wife and I were celebrating our 5th year anniversary and was looking for some place new, in particular family friendly restaurant. We recently had a baby (2 weeks old - I know but as new parents we thought taking a new born out would be okay) and wanted a nice restaurant that was accommodating. BS restaurant far expectations from the door. They originally seated us in a area that was ideal just in case our new born started acted as new born. The area was isolated for us to enjoy diner and not to disturb other patrons, but not secluded to make us feel banished from the dining area. Upon arrival my wife though the area was too drafty for our baby and the staff was more than accommodating to relocate us to a booth. The waiter and staff was excellent with us given our "new born baby" situation. Service was top notch. The food matched the top notched service as well. Highly recommend for dining and for family dining.
Stephanie Fontenot
One of my favorite restaurants in DC. Walk through the fish market to get to their bar with excellent specials for happy hour on craft brews and oysters. Dinner and lunch are both culinary experiences. Seating is a little on the close side, but the creative preparation and taste of each dish the chef serves is worth the price tag. Come hungry!
Alexandra Chaffin
Black Salt has excellent quality food and exceptional customer service. My family has ordered a Thanksgiving Turkey from them several times. This year we ordered a pie as well. When we got home and discovered they had accidentally given us the wrong pie (pumpkin, not pecan) the General Manager personally delivered the correct pie to our apartment that night. We will definitely order from them again!
Lanai Barkwell
The food was delicious and we had a great server . He explained the items to us as we inquired. The only problem was the host who left a bad taste in our mouths. My friend and I were seated at 6pm with reservations then the host stated "they would need the table by 8pm." That was a very rude thing to say to any patron of any establishment. The host and the restaurant as a whole needs to work on their professionalism. The comment was ignorant to say the least and insensitive to people of color. I'm sure the other patrons, that were not of color, didn't have the same experience.
Roberto Asquini
Great food in an elegant restaurant. Fish is prepared in delicate but tasty courses. Dessert is absolutely superb. Wine list is very interesting and there is also a choice of good beers.
Lloyd Rose
Went there for our anniversary and was presented with a personalized menu and concluding with a "Happy Anniversary" dessert. The food was delicious, starting with Harissa Octopus and Heirloom Tomato Salad. Entrees were the Halibut (from the daily menu) and the Branzino (from the seasonal menu. Service was great and the atmosphere cozy and relaxing.
vanessa hahn
Great dinner experience: food was superb, service attentive and place clean .
They are respecting the guidelines and made us feel safe .
We love both the calamari and lobster dishes !
Jeff Nightengale
The food was beyond great. Grilled Calamari and crab cakes were spectacular, but the seafood soup was surprisingly too notch.
The Google user
The visit was good except not much on the menu. That we could eat. The nice waiter we gave a big tip. He was nice. And everything else was good. Food,Service,Prices, Employees, Decor, and the menu. The price was well worth the food at our table. Menu offers a lot to customers. The parking is tight. We managed to eat something.
Stephen Cox
Delicious seafood. Fast friendly service.
Meg Thompson
Best food and great service!
Fitzy K
My favorite seafood restaurant in D.C.!
Food: Consistently very good, both for dinner and weekend brunch. If you like seafood, BlackSalt is definitely the way to go in D.C.! However, desert is their weakness. I've typically been pretty disappointed by their deserts - both variety (almost never changes) and tastiness. For me, the fact that they sometimes have Kusshi oysters more than makes up for a disappointing desert though!
Service: Friendly and prompt.
Price: It is pricey, but I'd say it's pretty reasonable for the quality of the food.
Fish Market: If I lived nearby, this fish market would be trouble. Their prices seem comparable to Whole Foods, but the quality and selection is much better. They also have a small selection of other items like pasta, cheese, butter, etc..
Parking: Street parking only. It's typically pretty busy, but I've always managed to find a spot on one of the side streets.
Faviola M
The food was delicious and the staff was exceptional. It was a pleasure. The halibut was delicious.
Penny Hu
Awesome seafood restaurant!! We had the house pasta, seafood stew and the chicken breast!! All delicious! The service was delightful, too! A little bit pricey, but highly recommended for the food!
Nick Kotakis
I must say that we received phenomenal service. Great restaurant for a romantic night out or an important business meeting. Plentiful wine selection. I had the pasta with duck and it was delightful. The highlight was the service though.
1 1
Amazing food. Great service. Thanks JJ!
Monique Thomas
Very fresh delicious seafood menu
Gary B. Haley (Attunist Trilogy author)
Among the best food I've ever had in a restaurant. The quality and originality of the dishes rivals Maui's Mama's Fish House and Boulder's Flagstaff. If you are ever in DC, and you you're not too tired from Smithsonian-ing all day, make a dinner reservation.
Art Murphy
Very attentive wait staff, fantastic meal!!
Bryan Bomer
I'm very reserved with my 5 star ratings; BlackSalt absolutely earned this! After convincing my dinner party to try the 5 course (which we ended up making into a 7 course) the staff proceeded to entertain and amaze us one plate and pour at a time. We were there nearly 4 hours and enjoyed every minute. The staff made us feel welcome and seemed genuinely interested in our experience, something that rarely happens in this town. Thank you BlackSalt!
ROBERT Covington
I've had the opportunity of traveling around the world and Black Salt tops the list of being the best seafood restaurant on my list. Depending on the season, the notes they offer will complete blow your flavor pallet to another planet. Call ahead and make reservations or sit at the bar, either way you will enjoy the experience.
Gold Dragon
One of the best high end seafood restaurants in DMV! Foods are exquisitely fresh & delicious w/ attentive services. The only drawback is their location/ parking! Highly recommend it!
Kevin Bull
One must pass through a small, but well stocked fish market as this restaurant is entered. And from there, expectations of great seafood are expected. Those expectations are exceeded once a meal is order. Great seafood accompanied by sophisticated cocktails.
Sean Johnson
This is my 2nd time dining here, and it never disappoints. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to satisfy their upscale seafood dining wants. For an even better experience, ask for the back room.
Tobi Bear
Delicious meal and great service. Fresh fish well prepared. A real treat! Delicious desserts including a wonderful chocolate cake that is gluten free!
Veola Corry
The food is incredible and the service is one of the best. They have a great menu selection and the staff here are super sweet.
Alex DiCaprio
Undoubtedly the best fresh fish restaurant in DC.
Things that were great:
Waiters were knowledgeable; service was prompt but yet not so fast as to feel rushed; food was DELICIOUS (highly recommend the fresh fresh tuna dish);
Things that were good:
Prices were decent for such delicious food. It is definitely expensive -- but worth the money
Things that werent so good:
Its off the beaten path -- You should expect to cab it there if you dont have a car.
Finally I want to speak to their Market on the first floor. You can get some AMAZING fish here -- do get it. You will not be disappointed.
Sherri Blunt
Delicious food and outstanding service!
Christine Jordan
The service and ambiance were very good. Definitely smaller portions and a little pricey. I got the crab cakes which were one of the most expensive things on the menu, and they were very salty. But overall we had a nice time.
Catherine Canuck
Creative tasting menu with each dish better than the last. Japanese flan dessert was delicious. Great food and service without being pretentious.
MacRae O'Brien
Wonderful DC institution, if a bit expensive for dinner. Super fresh seafood prepared impeccably. Warm, welcoming service with a neighborhood feel. Happy hour is my favorite time to visit, when drink and food specials make Blacksalt more affordable. (And their happy hour hamburger is the best burger in the city.) At lunch, they offer an inexpensive three- or four-course prix fixe menu. With so many options, Blacksalt is a great go-to for any occasion.
Paul Sholome
Although a bit small and expensive, if you manage to get a seat here it is most definitely worth it. The chef here is very creative and has a very creative menu, and I would consider it one of the better seafood restaurants in the DC area.
Jennifer Grant
The food and service were great., but think twice before going out to the Palisides neighborhood of you are using taxi. Public transit (subways) don't go out this far and cabs are few and far between. We waited an hour with a call in for service. I can't give an excellent review because of that.
Elliott Mattice
Blacksalt was one of the most memorable restaurant experiences I've had and easily the top 1 or 2 seafood restaurants I've visited in the world. The staff were exceptional, particularly the semolier. Let's be honest, they're not cheap and not accessible via metro, but the extra cost of an Uber and the meal is well worth it. We had the Chef's tasting menu with wine pairing so there may be cheaper options. It's my opinion that the chef's suggestions are their highlights that shouldn't be missed.
EmA
Went for DC Restaurant week special. Ordered fish tacos and blue crab cake sandwich. Fish were fresh and cooked nicely, but did not have a surprise... Deserts were rich and tasty!
Philip Alipio
Enjoyed Saturday brunch here, on a city moto ride. They made a special order of corn-meal crusted oysters (a la Blacks Market), upon our request. Great experience! Very consistent with our overall Blacks restaurant group dining.
Jack Cohen
Good but way overpriced for rather small portions. Wouldn't let me have 1/2 order of oysters, inflexibility is unacceptable at those prices. Desert was good but $12 for a slice of pie? Give me a break!
Jim Pfaff
You've got to go there are Happy Hour from 5-7 pm weekdays. Great prices on possibly the best oysters and seafood in DC. The oysters are schucked. And they are fantastic.
Alexandra Kraber
In the mood for phenomenal seafood? then look no more, BlackSalt is your restaurant to go! Serving Brunch, Lunch and Dinner, my experience was there dinner menu. For a starter, I recommend the Atlantic Day Boat Scallops, the main course I recommend the NY Strip Steak or the MD crab cakes. to top off your meal, for dessert, I would recommend the banana coconut cream pie (taste of heaven):)
Trina Tired
High end seafood restaurant....met all my needs ..waiters were very attentive...lets not begin to talk about the food....I love my friends I visited with but this is the one time the food was way better than the company...lol.. don't tell them I said so...I had the seafood stew and there was one piece of "something"(not fish) I had to share.... my one piece as it was too good not to share...I needed my friends to experience this life changing morsel wit me...wish I asked what it was..it was beyond delicious....definitely will visit again....
Karen Kahane
Wonderful menu, specialty seafood (try the bouillabaisse!) With varied atmosphere from vibrant chatter front bar to hushed quiet room in back. Excellent service, good wine list.
Jon Sheldon
Great food and wine but way overpriced and staff seem highly professional but always oddly a little of the airport vibe - a little too busy or self- important to truly pay attention to the customer- weird - but the neighborhood convenience and high quality keep me coming back.
Anne Jones
Overall it's great as a returned customer. I'd come back for sure. Just one small thing I feel the service is not quite there. There was a big group sitting next to me. So someone just pulled the chair from my table to accommodate them without asking me or my friend. And there were plenty empty chairs around.
Alice Wang
BlackSalt is one of the area's best places for seafood. The restaurant has a bar and dining room that definitely delivers when it comes to food. From fried clams to grilled branzino (which is served whole!), BlackSalt has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the best seafood spots in the DC area and one that will take you on a culinary journey into the depths of the ocean. Servers always say that the head and tail can be removed in the kitchen, but they prefer to keep them intact. Perfect for me, as I was raised eating fish whole. I think it's smart of them to deliver the whole fish, so different from most of the seafood places in the area. The menu boasts a large selection of fish and other seafood items. I ordered the pan-seared mahi mahi, which was nothing short of fantastic! Quality and cut were really good.
russ holstein
I love this place. Food came out hot and as we ordered, portions were a good size and filled us up at lunch. Will definitely go back next time I'm in city.
Simon Fraser
This place is great. Exactly what you want from a fish restaurant. The fish was good and cooked in an unfussy way. We had a great meal and I think we will be back.
Alix Pereira
Can't over-hype the seafood here. The portions are modest but they really know what they are doing here. Don't enter if you don't want great sea food. They will offer to make anything they sell in their adjacent fish market.
Stephen Smith
I took my wife there for our 35th anniversary. The food was okay and I gave it a 4 stars due to the attention that they gave us. Would we go back? No! Like I said the food was okay and we had a lot better. Actually I expected better and that went down after the apertizer.
rebecca jphnson
Best meal I have had in long time!! Took notice of another review & did 5 course tasting w wine. Left feeling like I made friends w staff! Can't wait to go again!!!!
Isaiah Bashan
Great seafood restaurant (and fishmonger) that is wholly committed to the sustainability of fish and shellfish stocks worldwide. Pro-tip, if dining, make sure to go for the happy hour menus, you will save A LOT.
Lisa Manning
Had a wonderful lunch with friends. Love this restaurant! I had oysters rockefeller and an outstanding seafood stew.
Whitney Craig
Gorgeous quaint restaurant in a great neighborhood (always able to find parking). They take their seafood very seriously here and the menu reflects this. Good oysters and I love the front market where you can buy fresh seafood to take home.
Meg Smith
The highlight of the meal was by far the john dory appetizer. Everything else was good, but not up to par with BlackSalt's usual caliber. We were seated next to a large (8-10 people) party of drunk loud retirees who put a damper on our evening. Not only did they wreck the ambiance and decibel levels of the entire back room, but our server ignored us in favor of them. Special menus with "happy birthday" written on them were a nice touch. Knowing we were celebrating, you'd think we would've been moved to a less rowdy area.
Note: We've been to BlackSalt several times and our most recent experience was our least favorite. Here's hoping it was a fluke.
Candyce Hughes
Very good seafood here. And you can get red snapper cheeks for a good price here.
James Lee
Hands down. Great service, great ambience, great wine. Been here 4 times now and each time has been consistently good. A bit on a the pricier side, but an excellent place as is all the Black family's establishments.
Kim Shearer
Loved this place. Best seafood in DC. A must. Casual, excellent wine list, freshest seafood. Service and ambience lovely. Suits friends, business and romantic.
Marco Bovo
It's always a pleasure to go at the Black Salt we learned that the 5 courses chef menu is a great choice and we never get disappointed. Also the service was great with the right combination of attention without being too intrusive.
Alysha Cunningham
Great food, friendly staff, and a nice ambiance. My boyfriend was hoping for large portion sizes, but he loved the flavor and quality of food!
JohnDoeJersey
Been here three times and never been disappointed with the food, drinks, service or setting. You work hard for your money, so if you're gonna spend a bunch of it (and you will), make sure it's somewhere as good as Blacksalt.
Nailah Abdalla
The food here is simply beyond words. Every spoonful was a delightful experience. This is the best restaurant I've ever been too.
Christian Thiel
Excellent fish and seafood. In particular, we loved the appetizer scallops with mushrooms.
Steven Gray
The slices of pizza is amazing. Cute dining area perfect atmosphere for families. A little loud music, nearly can't hear anything else though.
Annie Defouloy
My son, a friend and myself had lunch today, in December , at this restaurant. What a " fabulunch" !!!!!!
I had skate, lightly fried, it was perfection !
My son and my friend " The provençal fish stew ", both raved about their dish ... copious but light.
Everything was served to us by Erika, she was perfect as well.
We were given advice for the accompanied wine by a very professional sommelier and were very pleased with his suggestion.
The dessert was , also, perfect ! Merci, merci,
An experience to repeat very very soon and ... often !
Anne Thompson- Bethesda.
Eusebio Garre
Excellent food, fresh ingredients cooked to perfection, helpful, friendly and attentive staff and not least a kids menu with healthy and really tasty options. Black Salt is an absolute favorite.
Alia Aldalli
Stylish interior. Dishes were a delight to look at. I had seared halibut which was surprisingly thick and maybe overcooked but the veggies and sauce were excellent.
Nola Murphy
Most excellent of everything!
Ron H
A delight.
Great service level,
Fine food - the salmon tartar, the sardines, the octopus.
Wow, it's been a while since i enjoyed that much in a sea food restaurant.
Derrick L
Had the crab cake sandwich, with a Sangria. First time, great quaint restaurant and food was delicious! 👍🏾👍🏾
Grecia Bell
My favorite sea food restaurant in DC area. The chef is amazing, fresh fish always and incredible dishes. Must try the crab cake and the whole grilled branzino.
Aleece Palmer
The clam chowder is amazing. Loved the menu, food is fresh. Our server was not a perfect but the atmosphere and food made up for it.
Monic Las
The lobster dish that we ordered last night was partially cold and partially just lukewarm. This is very poor quality supervision from the kitchen, this was a 50.00 dollar dish, that should have been served with the utmost care.
Wendy Myers
Our favorite local place in DC and where we take our friends. Excellent wine selection, great happy hour specials (including happy hour oysters!), and wonderful staff!
Christopher Niebylski
The Fish Market is great - many sustainable options and a very knowledgable staff make the high prices well worth it - the prices actually reflect the value of the fish your getting.
Bonus: Sunday Brunch at BlackSalt is one of the hidden gems of DC.
Ed Revugh
We felt extremely special eating here. The food is phenomenal and the service even surpasses that. Everyone was so kind and appreciative.
Kit Mathews
Went during happy hour and had several small plates (oysters, mussels, grilled calamri, squid in a stew). Good draft beer selection.
Mike Ragusa
I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is fantastic and the service is on point. If you are ever in the area and need a bite to eat, stop it. You will not be disappointed.
Caroline Dutra
I don't really love seafood, but this place made me change. What a creative menu and wonderful service (thank's to Tom, who was really speaking to us and not just repeating the menu).
Andrew Engel
Wonderful meal. Excellent food. Especially grilled calamari. Excellent service.
Beau Gunn
The service is excellent here. I’ve been here a few times to give it a shot and I’m not overly impressed with the seafood but still a decent experience.
Kristen Fulchiero
We went here for my husband's birthday and everything was amazing. Great service, food, and wine would definitely recommend.
tom bradley
Had to pawn my S-Class to pay my check after treating some old friends to supper here last night, but for the best seafood I've ever enjoyed, it was an easy choice
W. David Xu
Our second time here. We had the tasting menu the first time and it was ok for the price. This time we ordered off the menu and it was much better.
Danielle Clark-Burgess
Really great food! My husband proposed to me in this restaurant. The staff was really nice and made my experience a very special one.

Always my go to place for consistent high quality seafood.

The fish market is the best in the city. The restaurant is also excellent for both lunch and dinner. There is a level of consistency that they are always on point.

Really impressed by BlackSalt's customer service. I had an issue with a pricier item I purchased (has happened exactly one time over years of shopping here) and they immediately went the extra mile to correct it.
Brian Considine

Food is great, most bartenders are friendly but there are a few who cater more to regulars and ignore the people who come in every so often.
Andy Morris
Outstanding meal and outstanding service.
Mark Ilich
Always a treat to go, and my wife & I are regulars! The new seasonal menu is cool, but their traditional items are always solid.

Black Salt is a great restaurant & fine deal during HH. Burrata\smoked figs &prosciutto were hauntigly good combination.
