Lunch for our sister's 71st Birthday. We had a ball! Water view was a plus. Food was good in every aspect. Our server Cassie couldn't have been more accommodating and we hope to have her again next time.

They were short staffed (like a lot of places) so the service was a bit slow, but it's a lot of good comfort seafood at decent prices. Parking can be tough if you come at busy times, so plan accordingly.

This is my favorite surf-rider restaurant. I used to keep my boat at Marina Shores and it was lovely to come here and eat after a day on the water. I think surf-rider may have the best crab cakes in Hampton Roads. This location is especially unique because it's open to the outside so you can dine almost directly on the water.

Really enjoyed this place. Lots of windows and a massive ceiling fan but it was very comfortable on a warm evening. Food was a bargain as were drinks (at least compared to northern VA pricing). I ordered the clam strip basket and the crabby bloody Mary. Will definitely go back on my next visit to VA Beach.

The food was just okay, but the atmosphere and live music was lovely. The crab cake sandwich was bland, but my husband and kids enjoyed their fried shrimp. Great place to visit if you're on vacation.

Located on the water, with views of the Marina, this was a nice setting for wonderful dinner. Prices were decent considering the recent rate of inflation that has made other places too expensive for a family of four. Service and food quality were excellent and the portions forced us to take food home. First time going to this location, will go again soon.

I can't say enough about the service that I received yesterday. The food is absolutely delicious, the best she crab soup I've ever had in my life. But most importantly my waitress Jordan, she is just absolutely a ray of light and a breath of fresh air. She made my whole night, I had experienced a death in the family yesterday and I was eating there by myself with swollen eyes. Can't say enough about her sweet demeanor and personality, make sure you asked to be seated in her section!!!

I love the sweet people who work here. They definitely made our first dining experience a great one! With the current pandemic going on, you’d think people would understand why there are 45+ minute waits because you know, social distancing tables but even when people still threw a fit about it, they were polite. They even had one of the waitresses outside grabbing peoples drink orders to enjoy while waiting. Our waitress Nora was amazing!!! Thank you for being great :) we were bummed when she told us they are getting ready to close for the season but told us about the new location so we will be paying them a visit soon :)

First time at this location. Beautiful setting. Open walls and umbrella seating. Right on the marina and lots of boats. Cool breeze off the water. Good food except our fries were luke warm. Food arrived rather quickly. Our waitress was very attentive.

This is a great place to eat. The shrimp appetizer is great. Crab cakes some of the best in town. Poboy’s are really good - made me appreciate that kind of sandwich more. The bay burger is great for a big appetite. Boat access. You can order straight from the dock.

This was recommended by my husband Co worker and our first time going here the service was great staff was fantastic and friendly made sure you had everything. Hubby ordered the surf platter and I ordered the clam strip basket was very good and I am very picky when it comes to seafood and so far haven't found a place that was great but this place is definitely one that I will keep coming back to thanks well worth the hour drive

We really enjoyed everything about the restaraunt except that annoying beat coming out of the speakers. Asked the waitress if they could turn it off but didnt get a responce. It wasnt really music just a reaaly base beat.

It's lovely to dine with a view of the marina. The wait staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The crab cakes are the best I've ever had, all crab, very very little filler. Portions are well sized, and the seafood is well prepared. My girlfriends and I eat here at least once a month during their season. We switch to the Oceana location during the winter months.

I've gone to this place about three times. The crab dip is amazing! The drinks are very tasty. Try the the strawberry lemonade! The staff was great and the service was as well. I have only been on Friday, and it gets pretty packed. Nice environment to go to with friends.

We love the pool bar and the restaurant. Friendly, accommodating wait staff and bartenders. My she crab soup was good with lots of large crab chunks. And the shrimp tacos were oh-so-good! My 10-year-old daughter loves the tuna bites and crab cake. My husband loves the soft shell crab sandwich, when soft shells are in season. I only wish they could stay open all winter!

Fried shrimp not overcooked. Crabcake was good. Little to no filler. Good service. Great crab dip. Lovely view if marina. Just know that even the inside is outside. If it's hot outside, it will be hot everywhere. It was a beautiful might when we went.

Great marina-side restaurant with beautiful views and open air seating. Food is delicious, priced well, and comes in huge servings on most dishes. The waiters and waitresses are very good and give you quick service. Rum runner drink is a must to try!

Great food, excellent service, safe practices including masks, hand sanitizer, and plenty of distance between tables. Would have given 5 star were it not for the owner's peculiar decision to play music via Pandora with commercials! Heard the same 3 dumb commercials over and over while dining. Very tacky; not what I want or expect when eating out.

Friendly, energetic upscale but relaxed atmosphere without being too noisy. Located at the marina, so great breezes and view of water, boats and houses. Reasonably priced selections, nice variety, and pleased with every meal I've had over the years. Add an 80-degree night with light breezes like tonight, and you have a "locals" experience at its finest.

The food is excellent and the servers/hostesses/bartenders are amazing. However the manager, whose name I believe to be Shannon, treats her employees in an awful manner. Due to her behavior I'm never going there again, nor is my family. Someone in a position of power shouldn't abuse their employees, and do shady and underhanded things. Cheers! :)

Pricey but good! The rum runner drinks are SO good!! Of course they're known for their crabcakes as they should be. Its all meat, no filler. The appetizer of calamari was also delish. Service is fast and they were packed!! Laid back atmosphere, its all open and has a beach feel. You can get away with shorts, jeans or a little dressier with khackis or a dress. Either way its good food and I will be back!

The food was delicious. Our server was very attentive and brought us everything we asked for, sometimes before we even asked. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is that the place was very noisy; probably the loudest place I've dined for quite a while.

Surf Rider Marina Shores has become our favorite Virginia Beach restaurant. The crab cakes are excellent... best in the area in my opinion. I also love the tuna bites. The open air atmosphere setting by the marina makes it a great place to have dinner. We have been there many times and the service has always been good to excellent. They are always working to improve the restaurant. I would highly recommend.

Had a wedding party here and they were great, they let us set up a area on the patio and were able to handle the 14 top with no problem. Food and drinks were delicious, this is not my first time here, just first review, but the food, drinks and service are always great.

We lucked out finding this place. All I wanted was to enjoy the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay and the Surf Rider didn't disappoint. I loved the fried oysters. The breading was just right.

Great atmosphere and pleasant, attentive staff! Started with calamari and crab dip. Very generous portion size and incredibly delicious. Rum runners were a great addition to the start of our time spent at Surf Rider. Had crab cake dinner with broccoli and Hollandaise. Very little filler with jumbo lump crabmeat, exceptionally good. Would recommend for family gatherings and date night! Little gem tucked away in the heart of Virginia Beach.

This is the place to go for seafood. We went to the one off of Shore Road next to the Yacht Club. We sat outside and had a view of the yachts while eating. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Virginia Beach.

Everything was delicious. My only complaint is, out of my six raw oysters, four were broken. Not sure if it was a shucker in training, or their blade was dull, but it makes raw oysters difficult to enjoy.

Love this place. The food is excellent, try the Hot Crab Dip with mini pita rounds and order a Rum Runner to wash it all down with but watch out for the rum in that first drink (they fill the straw with rum bfore serving the drink)!
