The staff was unhelpful and unknowledgeable. Took forever to get anything and after paying so freaking much. The lobster was completely dried out. Not cooked correctly whatsoever. The drinks were OK nothing to brag about. The atmosphere was so so. Not much cooler than outside. There’s a lot better choices

On a rainy, windy evening, we were the only guests during our stay so service was excellent. Crab cakes had plenty of crab but the chef had chosen to break up all lumps. Good BOGO deal on Thursday evening.

Stopped by for lunch and the lb of shrimp were great size and very good. My crab legs, well I guess somebody has to get the missing leg clusters, just wish it wasn't me... LOL! Or maybe do like one of the wing joints (Dirty B's I think), who offers the BROKEN wings at a lower price..hahahaha! But they were seasoned well - so we good! 😎!

Food was good. Service was not, was sat by the hostess then ignored by whoever our waitress was supposed to be for 20 mins, meanwhile the table sat behind us and after us was already eating there appetizers when another waitress noticed we were abandon. Thankfully Miranda stepped in and made sure we were served. Food was good, traditional style hush puppies, strong drinks, very good crab cakes and a burger. Inside was loud but the deck was nice and calm, great view of the beach.

The food was good, but definitely not worth the price, close, but I wouldn't pay the current prices again for my meal. Currently be prepared to wait at least 20 to 30 minutes to be waited on, this was one of the longest times I've waited for "first contact" from the staff at a restaurant, it was almost like we were being completely ignored for a while. Once we we were served the staff was friendly and accommodating, they were also out of alot items on my visit as well, such as snow crab and the shark toy from one of their signature drinks.

Food was FIRE! I got the ribs, shrimp, corn, hush puppies, and tenders. Brooooooo!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Waitress was amazing as well!! You definitely want to try it out next time youre in VA Beach.

Customer service was good but disappointed that the food lacked seasoning. We got the rib feats and the shrimp and fish were fried very well, but were bland and we had to put sauce on everything for flavor. Im not really sure what kind of fish was in the platter but the meat was translucent which I’ve never seen before. The ribs were the opposite, they had way too much bbq sauce to cover up that they were mostly bones and the sauce was super salty, we couldn’t even finish it. Also the alcoholic drinks were watered down. The menu sounded nice and the other reviews made it sound so good that I had to try this place, but it wasn’t worth it, I wouldn’t come back.

I hung out here with friends on Saturday. I noticed the rooftop restaurant and my interest was peeked. Excitingly we hurried across the street hoping that this place that looked so cute would actually have good food. Very smart of Ocean House to place a menu curbside to draw in hungry folks. We scanned the barcode and entered this really cute and spacious restaurant. Arrived to the counter to be seated and asked the very friendly manager about wait times for food. She welcomed us to the rooftop where there was no wait to order. There’s actually four sections where patrons can choose the vibe. Arrived on the rooftop and loved the ambience. We enjoyed the music from talented local artists. The tables are actually gliders which reminded me of my grandmothers porch glider (nostalgia). The drinks and food were good and the prices were reasonable. Our server was so sweet and was very attentive. We found out from the chef that she is actually a doctor who serves at risk youths. She is beautiful and humble. The most incredible perk is the bar seating that faces the beach! The views are just remarkable. You can never go wrong with a game of cornhole.

Average experience. No one person stood out with their customer service. I was also a bit disappointed when the online menu didn't match the actual menu there. I based my restaurant selection on the online menu and their's had more grilled options than what they actually had. I SETTLED for a salad with grilled salmon. It was tasty but it was JUST a basic salad.

Good food, good atmosphere upstairs. The staff didn't greet us when we came in the door and we were left confused on whether we seat ourselves or not. We had to flag someone down and ask if we seat ourselves otherwise I'm not sure how long it would've taken for someone to speak to us. We didn't even realize there was an upstairs until we had sat outside downstairs. The atmosphere upstairs is much cleaner and nicer, and when we got up there we were actually greeted right away and taken care of quickly. It's like 2 completely different restaurants.

Server was nice. We got shrimp and crab cakes, two house salads. It was close to $90.00 I got a water, husband a sweet tea. My shrimp was good. Sides were mandatory 2 red potatoes with old bay seasoning, and green beans. I asked for a different side, but no. Not very good. Salads were good. Also, they charge a fee to use a credit card. It should be worked in the price, not additional. We were seated by booth with ocean view. Glass was very dirty and a fly kept harassing us. Suggestions would be clean the windows. The views of the ocean are fantastic and let folks order a different side, like French fries.

Way overpriced for bland beach food. 29 dollars for seafood pasta that tasted like ragu. Calamari and sauce lacked flavor. Caesar salad was poor cuts of lettuce. Three stars are for the drinks, atmosphere and view.

We went to Ocean House on July 4th long weekend. Even though place was crowded, staff was nice and service was very quick. We ordered Devil Crabs and shrimps as appetizers and crab cake sandwich, and food did not disappoint us. Quantity was sufficient enough. We expected more seafood choices though. Definitely recommended.

The portions were huge, and since I was traveling with 4 teenagers this was very welcomed. All of the food was very tasty. I had the she crab soup and it was very good. My son loved the ribs. My only complaint was the mandatory gratuity added to the check. I definitely always leave a nice tip but do want a say in what I leave.

Great view of the ocean and boardwalk, but very limited selection of drinks and what they have is way over-priced. $8 for a glass (in plastic cup) of beer??? Too much. But service was good and nice place to relax for a cold one.

Limited menu when compared to others in the area. Chowder came in a cup instead of bowl, which was disappointing - if I realized it was s cup size, I would not of ordered it for that price. Food was ok. Staff is friendly.

I stumbled upon this place years ago but I couldn't remember what it was called or which street it was on, but I did remember that it had an amazing view of the ocean from the rooftop bar. I kept hoping I would one day rediscover this hidden gem, and last week I finally found it again! The whole drink menu is rather tiki themed which is great for the novice traveler, but a little expensive and surgery for my taste. Even so, they have a full bar so you can order whatever you want and the view is certainly worth the slightly inflated price. The only food I tried was the pasta with Alfredo sauce and although the Alfredo was a little nontraditional it was very tasty! The corkscrew pasta in a generous amount of rich sauce felt like eating a decadent mac and cheese. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is due to the service. The last 2 times I have been there the bar staff has been a bit unprofessional, they just seem disinterested in their jobs and overall not very inviting. Regardless, I recommend checking Ocean House out!

This place is awesome! My family and I went in for lunch yesterday (4/2). Lucky for us, the place was fairly empty except for a couple of other groups. It made for a pleasant and peaceful lunch. The owner of the business served us personally. Such a nice man! We ordered their crab dip appetizer, and it was delicious! It was a huge hit with the kids! I'm pretty sure we scraped that bowl clean. I ordered the Fried Trio (fried chicken tenders, fried fish and fried shrimp with fries and hush puppies). Such a huge portion of food. I felt it was well worth the price. One of my kids ordered the she crab chowder. The only issue with it was that it was a little too salty. But otherwise, it was good. Overall, this place has great food and a great atmosphere. We will definitely come back next time we're in the area!

Came for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon. I got the fish and chips and crab cakes. The food was wonderful. No complaints. The location was beautiful as well. Even though we were the only ones sitting outside (it was chilly and windy) our server was very attentive! Kira our server was absolutely delightful!!!!!

Service is the issue here, the food is great. Seemed to be plenty of staff, so I'm not sure if I was just lost in the flow, or as a 1 top, I'm not worth the focus because I'm probably a smaller tip as a 1 top. I saw my server 3 times, a guy from kitchen brought my shrimp out.

This place has the most awesome food! The crab dip was delicious and the chips were crisp and fresh. Everyone was very friendly and the waitress was very attentive and brought the meal quickly. The she crab soup was very creamy with great flavor. Portions were very large and worth the money. We enjoyed seating on the outdoor back patio with a cool breeze coming through. Definitely going back!

The place could have been a little cleaner. The Alaskan snow crabs were killer. My wife had the stuffed shrimp and my daughter had the chicken fingers. They both saymen, it's ok.

The environment of this place was traditional beach going necessity. Good food. Great bar staff. Great people. Live music. Cornhole and other games. Wonderful place to stop socialize and grab a drink. I would highly recommend going to this lovely spot on the beach. Watch out for people tossing water off the balconies of their hotels above the restaurant. We had to warn restaurant staff of this twice. Did not cause any inconvenience but be mindful when eating to use a picnic table away from bar.

Service was good and the seafood was great. My daughter's potatoes and mine were undercooked. Considering the price per entree that is unacceptable. I would not order the $13 cocktail as it tasted like there was not even a shot in it. I'll look at another establishment next time I'm in town.

Fantastic staff!! Ask for Alex at the bar for literally anything, food, activity, site recommendations fantastic guy! Buckets are great value and they have lids! Check it out honestly rooftop bar is so refreshing from the heat you won't be disappointed!

Great oceanfront view spot on a Friday night! Kitchen closes at 1030pm, would be great if the kitchen stayed open along with the crankin' band, I would have stayed. Will come back again!!

This place is wonderful! My husband and I were greeted like old friends when we walked in. Our greeter had the sweetest demeanor! Then our server was so fun and kind. We tried the peel-and-eat shrimp. We only intended to go in for drinks and apps. We ended up ordering TWO of the shrimp, since they were so good and the drinks were great (I had a margarita and my husband had the beach bum rum runner)! The manager came out and spoke to us for a bit, nicest manager ever! She recommended we try the crab dip and it was so yummy as well! It was such an amazing experience we ended up going back the next day and actually ordering a meal! It was just as amazing of an experience as the day before. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND!

Have loved this place for years. But… the last couple years they started having a DJ play and it’s so loud you can’t hold a conversation. I get it if the DJ starts at like 9 pm but we’re here now and the DJ started at 7:00. ☹️

We were seated immediately. Drink orders were taken and had our drinks within 5 minutes. Gave our appetizer order had that within 10 minutes and our food came out 15 minutes after we got out appetizer. The food was phenomenal! By far the best seafood we've eaten all week! Will definitely be back on our next trip.

Post pandemic... We've come to expect overworked servers and waiters along with slow service. Expect it here. The food was great. My fish was soggy and appeared undercooked but everything else in the shrimp feast was awesome. Get your refills, silverware, and sauces while you can. We got our food and after waiting ten minutes, eventually walked up to the hostess table and asked for silverware. They eventually brought us some.

It was sad that this was the last day of the season but the food, drinks and service was very good. The only food available was wings, fries and hush puppies. My wife and I had a great time enjoying the food, alcohol and the view of the ocean. A nice breeze was blowing through the outdoor deck area. Everyone was happy and having a great time. Very open place. Reason for 3 stars which is a rare rating for me. Service was good. Food was good, not great though. And have had more seafood that was way better for about 20% higher cost. So honestly I did not think it was worth the money.

Big party of 8-9 people. Food was good, waitress was a little overwhelmed but she did fine. Place was busy. What i didn't like was that they Automatically added the tip to the bill. I tip very well and I enjoy leaving a big tip. I feel like this practice takes away from my experience.

This was an experience & I am VERY PLEASED. The service was on 1,000 she refilled drinks without being asked. She checked in often being they had an overwhelming order for a Saturday night. She recognized my husband from the last time he & his guy friends went there. She was polite, friendly, informative & patient. We ordered the mini feast & added the 9.99 all you can eat. It was an overwhelming amount of food. Fried fish, fried shrimp, hush puppies, fried chickens tenders, snow crab legs & corn. It was right on the beach we literally was looking at the beach action & beach all night. It was worth the 4 hour drive there & back in one night.

Food was fine but wait was long.We were warned that they were running behind about 45 minutes. Our server was pleasant and did a fine job. Places are hurting for help and it shows sometimes. Bathrooms needed a once over. All in all, not a bad experience. But there are a lot of other restaurants to try in Virginia Beach, so....

The food was good. I sat upstairs, the view was great. Service was terrible. I was able to locate my own waitress who cleaned the table we wanted to sit at. There were already menu's at the table. We sat there for a very long time. Finally had our order taken. Then another waitress brought us water.At that point we didn't want alcohol just food. A different waitress brought the food. We never were checked on. I left the table and found another waitress to take my payment at the bar. I went back and sat down. The waitress came back with two receipts. I tipped and left. The next day i realized she never gave my card back. I live 2 hours away.

Bartender saved our night. He was excellent, attentive and spot on with everything. We ordered dinner from him at the bar. Drinks were excellent and food came when he said. Made me and my wife fantastic drinks. He is the reason we will be back. Hostess was horrible, forgot we were there and never sat us. Sat others in front of us. She is out of her league and should not be employed. Yes, it is Saturday night but she was beyond bad.

Well the food was good but we had to wait for a waitress to come in and when they brought out our food the little child that brought it out said he'll be right back with my food. The little child never came back , when our waitress came out and asked how was everything I said I never got my plate. So apparently they forgot about mine and eventually brought it out 🤦🏻‍♀️. So yeah the food is good but I don't think I'm coming back.

Ok…..server was attentive(Savannah)she did a great job. Food was not so good…..average at best. Place was clean and view was nice. Always prepared to pay “beach vacation prices” but value just wasn’t there from a food prospective.

Great place for fresh sea food and a cold drink. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is very friendly. There is both inside and outside seating with a nice view of the beach. I recommend the hush puppys one of the best I ever had.

OMG! I just had the most delish dinner...I got the stuffed shrimp and my husband got the salmon topped with crab...also got salad, coleslaw, French fries and corn on the cob...also all delish! Will def come back...priced good for value of food...waiter was excellent too and the hostess seated us as soon as we walked in....about 45 mins from time walked in the door until I exited...perfect...🥰😁

My husband and I ended up stopping in for a quick bite when it started to pour down raining. The menu is a short fare of normal Seafood and American foods. I would recommend the hush puppies which are handmade in house and the groper fish plate. Our server was nice and very attentive. There's outside dining mostly, with very little space inside. The bathrooms are located upstairs. Watch your step! The only downside is that if you blink you would miss it because it's located right under a hotel. If it wasn't for the large menu sign, we would have missed it. Great food!

I came here to get dinner to-go and originally wanted the broiled shrimp and fries. Unfortunately for some reason they didn’t have any broiled shrimp so I had to get the steamed shrimp I believe. The food was lackluster. The fries were okay, but I mean, how badly can you mess up fries? The shrimp was under seasoned (which is a huge turnoff for me) and wasn’t deveined which is a huge no-no for me. But the food was edible, but I, personally, will not be making another visit to this location whenever I am in town. They do have great views of the ocean!

This place was awesome...the food was one of our best beach meals. We shared the Captain's Platter added a Garden Salad and the portions were perfect for 2 people. Meeting Jason the waiter/bar tender was an extra surprise since he knew exactly where we were from and we even knew some of the same people. Highly recommend you stop by as well.

The food here is delicious, If you are seafood lover recommend it for sure I got the fried flounder & fries. It's great atmosphere b/c restaurant sits on boardwalk so you can sit outside and enjoy the relaxing beach views and people watch.

Interior is small but two outside decks one above one below, had the steak dinner, food was very pleasantly suprisingly well made. Steak was great, mashed potatoes had great flavor, and even the green beans had me wanting to know how they were prepared. Sweet Tea is awesome too!

Good service and staff The scallops serving was plentiful, but they were bland and rubbery. Had to keep adding some salt, but it didn’t help with the texture. Great view given that you’re right by the ocean view and the boardwalk. Would go back, but I’d settle for a burger and fries. This isn’t the spot for food you’d get at McCormick’s for example.

Go to the upstairs section, seat yourself and or if not noticed flag a waiter. If you do that, great restaurant with a good choice of drinks and an excellent view. Most people who complain are -overly- picky or get an unlikely experience. Be polite and you’ll receive the same treatment 90% of the time.

5 star for location. if you want an ocean in front of you while you have drinks or food, go upstairs and sit along the side facing the ocean. 👌 it needs renovations big time. The bartender was nice BUT the drinks were horrible and they were simple drinks. We had an issue with our food but he took care of it right away. The food was sub par compared to others we have been to.

Absolutely THE BEST food on the Beach!!! The service was friendly, smiling, & knowledgeable. She saw to our needs and came back to check on us a couple times. I sent compliments to the Chef who obviously knows his stuff! & how to please the customer. I ordered a Crab boat as my meal which was out of this world!!! Served HOT and loaded with crab chunks! A small side salad was big enough to be a meal and very nicely arranged. My son also had an appetizer with shrimp, fish and potatoes & chef veggies and I've never tasted anything so fabulously done! And I used to work 'fine dining' so I know the ropes. Only down side was the weather which was windy & cooler for this 4th of July 2016-- and there's not a blessed thing they could do about that!!! We have been here a couple days, and no one compares to these guys! HAPPY 4th of JULY AMERICA 🇺🇸

We were in the lower restaurant outside. You could hear the live music upstairs but they also had canned music coming out of the speakers loudly in our area, so you heard this loud, annoying, incoherent mix of two different music sources, which often made conversation difficult. The food was OK, not outstanding. The staff needs to get off of their phones. If you have nothing else available, this is an OK choice, but somewhat disappointing.

Best seafood so far in VA Beach! Haven't eaten everywhere yet, but this beats what we've experienced thus far in two years living in the area. Shark bites are excellent, even for non-seafood lovers and are the perfect appetizer size for $12. Children's chicken platter is one of the best chicken finger/tender dinners I've ever tasted for $7 with a fruit cup on the side. Chicken Alfredo nice and fresh with delicious twist pasta noodles - chicken in this dish was a little underseasoned, but perfectly cooked for $17. Now the highlight: Seafood Pasta dinner, with clams, mussels, shrimp and penne pasta noodles in a fresh Mediterranean-style sauce with chunks of fresh tomato for $25. Freshly made, this dish reminded me of yearly summer trips to Italy as a child/teenager. Nothing beats authentic cuisine, but this gets very close. I had it topped with fried calamari (tentacles and rings, which were again cooked perfectly) for $4 extra. Fountain drinks/sweet tea $2.75. I highly recommend this establishment. Right on the beach with decent amount of two-story outdoor seating and booths and tables and a full bar on the inside. There is additional seating and live music upstairs! Can't wait to try their other offerings the next time we stop by. Judging by how awesome the food and the waitstaff were, this is a winner every time. Even the chef came to the table to deliver the Seafood Pasta. When it was time to go, our waitress asked if she should bring the bill or if we wanted to hang out a while longer - nice not to be rushed like at so many other places. 5/5 stars easy!

We actually came to this place after walking into a place nearby and we ended up leaving there after being ignored by the waitress. We were just looking for a bar and appetizer/snack foods, okay food and drink, smaller menu. As soon as I walked into this place, fell in love with it. It’s very quaint and low-key during the off season. Ocean view, but I sat at the bar. Good service, with friendly staff. Supposedly there’s an upstairs, but just give me a bar stool, good food, and cozy atmosphere, and I’m good!

2nd story bar lofted over some junky shops on the boardwalk. Great view of the boardwalk and beach. Mediocre pub grub and seafood. Good live music in the evenings. Closes when the weather turns cold. September the best month to enjoy this spot after the crowds go home, and it's still warm.
