I had the fried fish and shrimp with fries. The fish was a Lil greasy but was so well seasoned I didn't even care! I was licking the grease off my fingers like I had no shame! It was sooo good! I was kinda sad when it was gone! Can't wait to come back and try the fish tacos!

The fish sandwich is delicious!!! I wasn’t a fan of the crab cake sandwich but find myself returning over and over again for the delicious fish sandwich. Great presentation too. Sometimes it can be hard to get them on the phone but if you call multiple time in a row they finally answer. The fish sandwich is worth multiple phone calls. 🐟🥪🤤

We ordered to go from the Dahlia location on 8/27/22. This was my first time eating Chef Skip's food. The staff was friendly and service was fast. The portion size is really good. First, let me say I was not expecting the crab cake to be soooo delicious and hardly any filler-- straight crab. The fried fish was lightly breaded and crispy. Even the fries which were a little cold when we got home, were good. My only complaint was the shrimp... so salty I peeled the breading off to eat it. I plan to order one of the subs and crab cakes next time.

We are visiting VA on business so this was our first time. The establishment is listed as dine in but that isn't the case. The parking lot where you have to wait for your food (as there is a sign on the door and restaurant) is dark. I would have been very uncomfortable if I weren't with my man.The food was good and hot. The restuarant's signature sauce was not to our liking. There were no other condiments (ketchup, tartar sauce, mustard, mayo)provided so we ate our fish sheimp amd crab cake plain. Being Baltimore I've not seen a crabcake so flat like a salmon cake.It was tasty. The fish was a little greasy but also tasty. The shrimp were a few seconds from being burnt but good.

True Story! I didn’t know what to expect walking in because I was already disappointed by the nearby spin on fish fry serving trials by locals! I walked inside and awaited my turn, grabbed a mask after being asked with no issues. However, I fight off Covid with a weekly dosage of “Vitamin D and 5-day Centrum(multi-vitamins), living as one of the collected vitamin D deficient warriors! The delightful lady at the countertops asked what I would like, and I said it was my 1st time. Still, I want to try your fish fry🤔…then I saw the shrimp dish 👀and said but let’s add the jumbo shrimp(with an open mind)…and then I saw the crab cake🤤 and was like, hmm (I never had an incredible crab cake😳It's time to “surpass my limits” like the great Captain Yami from a “Black Clover” anime)! Scene 2; Nobody likes dried-up fried anything…, and I was pleased to see the care in nature & flowers by an Art-Decor placement for take-out along with a rich, crisp look and no burn minutes after enjoying the wall-art scenery! A personalized-art work truly caught my eyes at the door, which reminded me of my childhood days finding my first known creative likes. As a viewer or spectator of your finest arts in a gallery or museum... This work of art represents a real family-friendly vibe by the entryway! I asked with amazement, “Hey, who drew this…and what replied was the manager’s daughter drew that”! I was in my zone and almost forgot bout the food I ordered. Being a mutual creative mind, it felt like everything mentally and emotionally came to 💡. I could see the potential with a response of “she is talented and going to be a remarkable originator one day..” My thoughts looped through anime and contemporary mixed creative flashbacks! I was in between one of my fav shows as a “South Park” fan and Japanese culture design for those deep storyline life lessons and meaningful anime vibes. There’s nothing dry about “Chef Skip 757” I tell ya that from the heart. I was pleased to find myself in a trance state of mind with wonders of elegance for interior re-design complimentary through my creative eye. Even without, WHAT AN AMAZING ATMOSPHERE and group of professionals and people to meet as if were your day 1 or fam. Here’s what you’ve been waiting for 🔥 MY ORDER WAS; “🦀 🎂 🍤 AND 🐠”! I had my to-go box and found myself chatting my appreciation before leaving as I look forward to returning! While unable to wait until I got home, I found myself parking in a nearby lot 😂 to multi-task time management as hunger heaven began to arise. I took my plastic fork and sliced open the fish, and OH LAWWWWD, 😍 it was PURE white inside and like cutting butter, y’all, NO LIE!!!! I’m a country boy at heart from down South Carolina parts, so it ain't easy to feel back at home with my culture brewing Gullah Geechie talks, but this establishment felt great from entry to exit. I’m recommending you give this place a try before any other…and definitely for something SOULFUL of seafood that hits home where the heart is and stomach where the ITIS will find us (I found myself well on my way to 💤 land happily mins-hr ⏰r) delightedly. @_INTJey_

Shrimp, clams, oysters, fish, fries, mac’n’cheese bites - all perfectly fried and seasoned. This place serves delicious food for decent prices (peep the menu pics on here), and the lady who took my orders was friendly and professional. She said twelve minutes, and it was exactly that long to when my order was up! I’ve been twice, and will definitely be coming back many more times!

Based on the overwhelming positive reviews, I thought this place would have been amazing. Arrived around 8:30. Because of covid, they only allow 3 inside. I ordered the crab cakes and fish, plus shrimp & clams. They were all seasoned the same. I like things salty, but it was a little too much for me. The crab cakes were large and delicious tho. One minor complaint was the fried clams were, skimpy. All breading, little clam. The shrimp was nice and plump. They closed at 9 Instead of the 10 posted on the door.

I’ve been here a few times already and each time I was not disappointed. Their food is delicious! The young lady that I usually see working the register is nice and patient, as well. Their prices are a little on the high side and there is a wait on the food so it’s best to call-in first.

I order the fish n shrimp, it had a GREAT taste n fried just right, I also had a shrimp taco, it had the best taste I could ask for. The shrimp in both orders were BIG size shrimp. I order the Philly for my mom and she loved it. I have plans on many returns as well as tell my friends. 😊😛

The shrimp tacos were amazing and I didn't have to wait long for my food. The reason why I gave them 4 stars is because the fries had too much seasoning on them which made them extremely salty. Next time I will ask for no seasoning.

First time trying Chef Skip 757 and I was pleasantly surprised. The food arrived hot so my husband and I was able to really enjoy it. I ordered the skip+sk8 platter and my husband ordered the fish po boy. OMG everything was seasoned to perfection, the cold slaw was fresh, the fried shrimp were huge, the crab cake hit all the spots and I'm from Maryland the home of the crab cake. An amazing black owned restaurant that showed and proved how talented we really are. Look this place will not disappoint. The next time we're in VA Chef Skip 757 will definitely be our go to🤩🤩🤩

I knew I had try out Chef Skip after I read about his shop in a local magazine. I work close to the restaurant, so I ordered to-go and they were super timely. They even called when my food was ready. First off, this guy knows how to cook fish. It was perfectly fried and some of the best fish I’ve had in the area. I had the crab cake and fish combo. That’s not a hush puppy in my picture but a giant crab cake which had no filler. I can’t wait to try their entire menu

Me and my fiance went here last Saturday and the food was off the chain!!! My man got a Philly Cheesteak with fries and I got crabcake, fish, and shrimp. Both of our dishes were delicious and lightly breaded...you could tell the seafood was fresh and authentic💟💟and the banana pudding was very tasty lol coming from a person that doesn't really like pudding... we will defiantly return😁

The shrimp was good. the fish , although crispy you could still taste the raw batter underneath. Sign inside, says wait outside for order to be done well 20 minutes later I had to go get it stacked with other orders I think they just need more employees at least 1 more.

I don’t know why people are giving this place less stars because of the mask policy. Take your nasty maskless-self elsewhere. Some of us really appreciate the extra precautions! The fish sandwich was very reasonably priced and a good portion. The fries were just amazing! The young lady at the front was very pleasant.

Normally 5 stars across the board. Been here a half dozen times. Foods always banging and hot. Service is always good. Today, placed an order in person. Got the regular "I'll come getcha in 10 minutes". Awesome. 40 minutes later, I'm helping a different person pick out my container on the counter because they never came and got me. I was the sole, single in person order. They legit forgot about me. Room temp seafood I would not recommend. Wouldn't be a problem but they didn't apologize or own it. For a business whose praises I sing regularly, big letdown. DO BETTER! Fish tacos are killer when fresh.

This has got to be the best place I have gotten food from since I moved to Virginia Beach a year ago. Everything I had was delicious. The fish sandwich is one of the best I have ever had. I am from Philly so I judge anything Philly cheesesteak related harshly. The Philly fries hit the spot like nothing I have had since I moved here. Whoever is cooking is extremely talented. I'll definitely be going back.

I was excited to see a black owned spot while I was visiting Virginia Beach. We ordered a chicken/shrimp and fish and shrimp dinner with fries. Unfortunately they didnt have crab cakes that day for my guy. But the food was good. I'm not sure what the dipping sauce is they gave on the side but it was tasty as well with the fries lol. The cashier was pleasant and answered all questions we had and we were greeted when we arrived. Food was ready in about 15 minutes or so since we did a walk in.

The fish was kind of soft but still good the seafood and French fries were seasoned well and their mayonnaise based "house sauce" paired good with the French fries. Food is delicious. When you go out to eat atmosphere, price, and speed are all nice but at the end of day it's all about the good. I've never waited more than 10 minutes upon placing order and the food has always been good. The price of the plate is on the high side but I don't mind paying for quality. I was in VA Beach area visiting last weekend from DC area and Chef Skip restaurant was recommended as I was headed home. I went, got a fish & shrimp meal and let me tell you!!! It was perfect!! Everything about my meal was delicious. They next day while back home I sure wished I had bought another meal. They should really consider opening up another restaurant. Lol. Chef Skip 757 will be my go to restaurant when I'm back in VA Beach.

I enjoyed my food from Chef Skip 757 but a few things threw me for a loop. When I pulled up to the location, an individual stepped out who was not wearing a mask and she works there. In addition, when food handling is taking place you should be dressed in a manner to prevent body hair, deodorant and any other debris from entering the food. Located in a small area that hosts other businesses, the parking lot supports parking in front or nearby. This is not an establishment that supports dine in based on how they are set up. You enter, order, wait, clothes absorb the smell of fry oil and your order comes out. I strongly suggest ordering ahead to limit your wait and less chance of your clothes/hair mimicking the smell of food cooling. When buying seafood, the price can be higher but unless you inquire, the menu only says "Fish and shrimp, chicken etc" The type of fish I received was Swai (part of the catfish family of fish but not as expensive). I think it would serve customers to know what is being served since "Fish Fraud" is a thing. The portion was respectable and the seasoning of the food was enjoyable. Not a terribly long wait for my order. The interior appeared really clean but the ventilation was not the best. You can't see into the place because the windows are covered and it's not easy to see out if you're inside either. The interior has only so much room that only 2-3 people can be inside while ordering if you intend on establishing some social distance. There is a food truck and a location in Portsmouth as this one serves the Lynnhaven area. Not floored by the food or experience so undetermined if I'd dine here again. Capable of contactless pay, credit cards and cash for payment options. An overall 3.75 review

First, their food is great. Which is why I, against all reason, continue to disappoint myself by ordering food from Chef Skip through Grubhub. I don't know if on whose end the fault lies, but 4/5 orders I attempt placing through Grubhub get cancelled with the reasoning "the menu item is suddenly unavailable". Considering the menu item is their main thing (fish), this seems strange. Don't bother trying to order through Grubhub.

The food is amazing! Brother Skip is definitely a master of his craft! /G\ The dishes are well presented and the taste is jaw dropping. I’ve seen this place quite a few times on my way home and always said man, I need to try that restaurant. Well people tonight was the night! Didn’t feel like cooking, called them up and ordered the philly and shrimp combo, jumbo shrimp I might add and it was amazing! Shrimp were fried just right, fries were seasoned really well and the philly?!?! Pretty damn good! The young lady who took my order was really nice on the phone and at pick up as well! If you haven’t tried this spot, you’re missing out!

Excellent take out with great prices for what you get. My son tried the fried shrimp po boy. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The sweet slaw is extraordinary... delicate texture and subtle flavor, not overwhelmingly sweet. The seasoned french fries were excellent as well. I had the fried oysters. Perfectly cooked... nice, crispy breading with a juicy, flavorful oyster. The house sauce that comes with it is a good remoulade. We will definitely be back.

Stopped by this place after receiving a 'hot new spot' on Yelp. A little unnoticeable from the outside. Cashier, and chef were very friendly. I ordered fish and crabcake combo with asparagus, and a side of fried oysters. The fish was good The crabcake, and oysters are the best you can find in a takeout place. Worth the trip. Will definitely return to try other things on the menu.

You can't go wrong here. It's placed in a peculiar shopping center across the street from a playground. Parking is limited but this a carry out establishment so you won't have to worry. The shrimp tacos have yet to disappoint me. It's rare that you find a restaurant down here that has mango sauce. The banana pudding sells out quickly, though. My only complaint is that the remoulade and the house sauce are similar in taste. I'm not one to eat mayonnaise anyway and they both taste like mayo with a small citrus tang. Other than that, I can't get enough of this place.

Great Service!! The parking here in Portsmouth has always been scarce and cramped but there is more parking near Old Bay Seafood on the corner of this little small area. You can eat in this restaurant on your own...no wait staff or take out...You can see the Chef cook your food and the presentation looks exceptional. It IS a bit pricey but it is Black owned so we understand why it's a bit pricier...BUT the food is delicious and I'm very hard to please, I like to cook and eat my own food, but I will frequent them as long as they stay true to their style of cooking...I hope they don't change like other restaurants do, then start changing up stuff and it's mo longer good. This food is tasty, seasoned and flavorful. I ordered wings that are not steroid wings...wingettes...and I ordered the crabOMGcake...it's shaped in a ball and it really was the best I've tasted in years...since WYNN'S Seafood! The fish is Swai and that was seasoned just right...i was pleased. ChEF has another restaurant in Va Beach that his brother manages.

Good was great! Crab cake was meaty and not overly breaded. Shrimp was perfectly seasoned and you get an edible flower. While you are there, try the banana pudding! Support your local business!

On vacation and have eaten at a few local joints on and near the beach. Although this location was not directly on the beach dont let that fool you. Chef Skip was by far superior in flavor and selection. If you want some good eats, hit up Chef Skip! Shrimp po boy, clam, oyster, and shrimps i can say was on point!! Fries, dont skip the fries! They’re battered and delicious!
