I was skeptic being in strip mall but had 5 stars so I tried it. I'm so glad I did it is great seafood. Grilled fried or blackened and chef or owner or maybe does both chatted with us and opened door as we excited. Great experience.

If you're wondering if THIS is the place you should go out to eat or not....there should be NO question! The owners of this place put more into their business than any other I've ever been to! (I don't visit chain restaurants.) The food, the service, the drinks, the atmosphere....you WILL NOT be disappointed!!!! Go! Go directly to BLUE! Do not consider another place! THIS. IS. IT. Go for a special occasion, for date night, for just because...it doesn't matter....the food will be *top notch* no matter what the occasion and you will be treated like royalty every single time! I have absolutely no idea what is written on their menu. Why? Because the specials are where's it at! Order anything Charles has on the special for the night, it will be amazing and definitely a limited item! Oh! And the crab soup of the day...chowder, corn, tomato, whatever it is, IT IS DELICIOUS!!!!!! Update: 04/22- STILL hands down THE BEST. 💯‼️

Went here to celebrate my birthday with my husband. Service was good. The food had no seasoning at all. No salt, pepper, old bay, butter; NOTHING! The baked sweet potato tasted like cloves which was nasty. Vegetables were just blanched again no seasoning. Sweet potato biscuit was dense. Sweet tea tasted like dirt. For you to have fresh seafood you need to learn how to season it. We will not be back.

This place is amazing! The chef visits our table every time we eat here. The food is superb, the service is perfect, and the liquor selection is top notch! If you haven't been yet, you simply must give it a try. I have eaten here several times and tried several different entrees and they are all delicious. If you come on a weeknight there is usually not a wait!

Customer service, excellent! Food, delicious! Dessert, very tasty! Mixed drinks, perfect! Will we be back? Absolutely! Reason for 4 star instead of 5….lump crab cakes were way too small and I bit into two small bones in the crab cakes. The sautéed veggies had a large green bean stem I bit into and that was very off-putting. Prep cook was not paying close enough attention.

The manager interacted with us to ensure quality and satisfaction. Our server was super attentive and very professional, she even took the time to help with dinner selections. First visit, pleasantly surprised that the numerous 5 star ratings were deserved. Greeted and seated promptly, courteous and professional staff. Food was awesome. Crab soup was great and the blackened Rock Fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Wife’s Scallops were fresh and also excellently prepared. Kicking ourselves for not visiting sooner.

You know you're in the right spot when you roll up 10 minutes before opening time and see a fair amount of folks sitting in their cars waiting for 4pm. And you really know you're in the right spot when you're gifted with complimentary Cajun shrimp canapes. One for every diner. Those delights were scrumptious!! I really loved the laid back atmosphere and the jovial camaraderie of the employees. I felt as if we were dining at a friend's house instead of first timers just now being let in on the best kept secret at Red Mill. I'm not a fan of Virginia Beach and wouldn't have even been this way had my family not decided to come up for a spur of the moment visit. After a visit to my favorite spot in Pungo, Jerrassic Park, my crew starting feeling hunger pains. Having a few picky eaters in my crew I let them find us a spot and after checking a few reviews we wound up here. Honestly, not being a seafood eater I wasn't sure this was the best place for me but the shrimp tempura called my name and off we went. This place left such an indelible memory that we'll probably go back. From the heavenly Hibiscus Martini, to the crunchy Tempura asparagus appetizer and Tempura Shrimp to those perfectly tiny sweet potato biscuits and apricot butter. My entire crew enjoyed their meals (even the picky eater) and the service was spot on. Definitely a spot worthy of another trip to VB.

Came here on a recommendation of a friend in Charlottesville VA who raved about it and enjoyed it so much that he bought the tshirt. First I'll start my review with the cons. The noise level was high enough to give the wife a head ache. What lead to the escalation of noise was firstly the choice of music that is played through the, what to me sounded like, regular strip mall tenant ceiling speakers. This forced the diners to increase their volume to just hear each other. The wife and I had a hard time communicating across our 2 seat table. The volume in the place will lead us not to recommend or dine here again. Second unsatisfactory item was curiously the lack of seasoning in the fried crab cake. It was cooked well and full of crab meat but was missing the taste we desire in crab cakes. The garlic mashed potatoes were satisfactory, seemed to be missing something. The chefs choice fresh vegetables was a good combo but the thyme overpowered. Pros: I got the fried seafood selection while the wife got the broiled seafood named Bella which was scallops, shrimp and crab meat. Herb butter and topped with cheese. She liked it so much she wanted the recipe. The fried selection was tasty and fresh tasting. Recommended. The sweet potato rolls were delicious but tasted like a dessert bread. The chef is friendly and speaks with all customers. He gives a free appetizer sample which was awesome. Cheeses, fresh herb, fig on a cracker. The calamari appetizer was great. Fried jalepenos too. It was great tasting but we prefer a better crunch on the breading which these were missing. Service was flawless. Lauren was great. Not sure how 'Yoga' pants became appropriate attire for servers though. She was knowledgeable , efficent and friendly. Overall a great place but the noise level made it a one and done visit.

Another great meal! Went with some friends here for their first time, they loved it! Service is ALWAYS TOP NOTCH, from being greeted to throughout the meal. We had the fried Calamari appetizer, Yum! I had the filet topped w Crab Cake, my husband had the tuna special and our friends had the crab cakes w scallopes. We ended the Most delicious KeyLime pie and Creme Brûlée... we have never been dissatisfied or disappointed. Our friends are looking forward to coming back again as so are we. Thank you for such great service, great food and good memories. BEST AT THE BEACH... Hands down!!!!

Amazing service from Katie :) will continue to return because there isn’t any place like Blue!!!! First time to BLUE last night, went to celebrate my husbands 50th day. Everything was Top Notch! Jen was our server and she was amazing! The owner, Charles, is also the Chef and may I say Spectacular! We had the fried oysters and crab soup for apps, my husband had the steak w medallions, I had the seafood combo, Exquisite! They brought my husband creme brûlée for dessert, “BEST WE’VE EVER HAD”! Blue is by far the BEST RESTAURANT IN HAMPTON ROADS, hands down!!!! We will be returning for sure! Our new date night spot. Besides the food, we were so impressed w the owner Charles. He came out to everyone’s table and spoke w them, he said good evening to every customer and thanked them for coming, he spoke w us for a while and he was very humble and passionate about giving us the Best experience from start to finish. To me that speaks volumes! Thank you Charles and your staff for a wonderful experience 👏 loved Hector the birthday chicken! Priceless!!!

The absolute most wonderful upscale, off the hook, delicous meal EVER!! Expertly prepared by a chef that knows what he's doing and with a lot of pride and love in every aspect of preparing your meal. From the second you walk in the door, you can feel the vibe that everyone genuinely loves their job. Nice plush white comfy chairs were a WOW! Then out of nowhere a special treat of a crustini with shrimp & mouse on it, not expected and a very nice surprise. And the fresh made potatoes and veggies,.... very unique & succulent with excellent flavor!! My best restaurant food for all of 2018!! A job perfectly done Blue Seafood & Spirits. Gave a 100% tip, as it was well deserved. We will see you again soon!💞

This was amazing!! I have never had sweet potatoe biscuits and butter whipped with apricots before, but these have to be the best in the world!!! The fish, scallops, and crab cakes were flaky and flavorful. The asiago mashed potatoes... Omg! The service is flawless, the teamwork flowed seamlessly and the chef was as hands on in the front of the house as he was in the back of the house. And to top off the evening, I was visited by Hector the Birthday chicken, because it was my birthday, such a unique twist to the finale of my celebration!

We had an absolutely perfect dining experience tonight. We were greeted at the door by the owner, who welcomed us warmly and showed us to a table. We were waited on immediately (and were pleasantly surprised at the number of staff for such a small place). Our waitress was personable, sweet and attentive. We ordered a fabulous (local) bottle of wine and started off the evening with appetizers - fried green tomatoes for him, crab soup for me. They were outstanding. Next were warm, soft, delicious sweet potato biscuits with apricot butter. His meal was a fantastic crab cake with Asiago mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. I had tasty grilled salmon (also with the potatoes and veggies). We finished off our meal with a slice of incredibly dense, rich amazing key lime pie and wonderful coffee. We will return very soon.

The was an excellent experience. The seafood was succulent, fresh, flavorful, pleasant to the eye and perfectly proportioned. The service was impeccable, despite being a VERY busy night. From the hostess, the owner, and the wait staff, they all were hopping and made it all look smooth. They don't take reservations so get there early before 7, or plan to spend some time at their bar which has wonderful cocktails. If your visiting VA Beach like we were, it is well worth the short drive from the strip. Its a must visit. Thanks again for a memorable experience. We will be back.

When we head back to Virginia, we will come back to Blue without a second thought. It's a small, comfy and casual restaurant. Extremely friendly and attentive staff and amazing food. Seriously no question as to why they are rated #2 on Trip Advisor. The pickled crab cakes were indescribable...🤤

Wow! Great service and delicious food! They started me off with a bit of the best ceviche I've ever had. Then the entree came, along with some delectable sweet potato biscuits, and I was in heaven throughout the meal. Dessert was strawberry shortcake, perfectly in season. I struggled to keep myself from eating it all. A great environment, friendly service, and tasty meals. What more could you ask for?

On the 2 July 2022. The atmosphere lighting, decoration and staff gave off a well made establishment of knowing its consumer base to enjoy their dining experience. The staff displayed themselves well in hospitality, recommendation and account for personal taste. I do not recall the name of our waiter but he did look like he could be the younger brother of Keanu Reeves. Food: App were Fried oysters. Main course was tuna special and a Seafood combination of flounder, scallops, crab cake. The sides were the same. Mash potatoes with veggies. Fried Oyster: Seasoned nicely and paired well with their sauce. Do recommend especially those who are a fan of oysters. Tuna Special: The tuna was cooked well and presented nicely. The toppings were a nice addition to the fish. However, the seasoning needed some work as it did not give me that wow factor. Flounder, Scallops and crab cake: These item were also cooked well but like the tuna, the flavor needs some adjustment. Sides: Texturely good mashed potatoes, and veggies were cooked well, but lacked a good taste. Overall: The place is enjoyable to dine in. People going on dates would enjoy this place. The overall taste of the food, at the time, was the weakest of the whole experience and a restaurants food is still its core. Unlike other places whose food lacks flavour this place does show great potential and perhaps our dishes were just a few misses.

Amazing seafood. I ate here the other week. I just moved here and went with my mother. They had a great liquor selection and delicious food. As a former manager/worker in fine dining the service was excellent. The owner/s definitely know what they are doing. The most important thing was the restaurant felt like a home, zero corporate vibes. If you are considering this place, go. What you get for the price is more than worth it. Don’t go to the corporate high volume places near the beach. This is far better in every way. I will absolutely be back and will bring friends. This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in Virginia Beach after one meal.

Wow! My daughter & I do not fancy seafood but my husband does, so we wanted to take him somewhere special. We read reviews & decided on Blue. It. Was. Awesome! We had a 10 month old with us & everyone made us feel so welcome & comfortable. Mackenzie was our server-fabulous, went above & beyond. The owner comes to the table with samples & engages with everyone. The drinks were wonderful, the food incredible (my daughter said it was the best pork chop she ever had!). My husband got his seafood fix & more. Desert was to die for. A true local gem ! The owner has a handle on what it takes for a successful restaurant-wonderful customer service, with delicious food & drink, & a comfortable atmosphere that makes you come back! Oh my! I'm not even a seafood affectionado but I was still blown away with this fine dining restaurant. Everything from cocktails to dessert, with salads and entrees in between, was amazing! Our bartender was extremely skillful and accommodating, the wait staff was extremely attentive and aim to please. Even the owner walked around and chatted up their customers. Looking for a romantic place to take your Sweetheart? This is the place! You will definitely score points for choosing such a swanky place. Reservations recommended!

What a hidden gem! Owner/ Chef Charles was phenomenal. We had to eat at the bar due to a last minute decision. His entire staff including bartender Matt were on point to make this a memorable anniversary dinner. I have been to VA Beach over 30 times and have not a meal to compare with this establishment. We are from out of town on a week vacation and stumbled upon Blue Seafood & Spirits while searching for a place to dine with our three young daughters. The staff was so welcoming and kept us informed on how much longer our wait to be seated would be; which honestly was not too long either. They had great interaction with our girls, a nice kid friendly establishment. We were already impressed before even entering the establishment or trying the food and things just got better. The food was delicious! Our picky 5 year old LOVED the sweet potato biscuits so much, we got an order to take home. Our next family vacation to Sandbridge will definitely include another wonderful meal at Blue Seafood & Spirits!

This is my first time here and I have to say. The service is incredibly nice!!! I feel every welcome. The food quality is tasty and delightful, deserves a 5* rating. HOWEVER, the only thing that disappoints me is that the cocktail cup. It's no different than the soda cup. The dishes are not nice as well, I saw a small crack on my dish. But I still rate 5* because I don't wanna hold their reviews back. Honestly, my review only 4*.

Returning again for another delicious meal! I tried the dry scallops for the first time. I asked Chef to surprise me and they were served blackened and they were amazing! Everything is always cooked perfectly. Fried oysters are expertly done, which is not an easy task for most restaurants in the area. Service was superb and the atmosphere is always relaxed. Easily in the top three meals I have had, ever. We stopped in on vacation looking for good seafood and everything we tried was exceptional - tempura shrimp, Brussel sprouts, seafood combo, Bleu salad, & desserts. They had no issue with us sharing several courses and even brought out a few extra small bites, a wonderful crab on crostini and some absolutely amazing sweet potato biscuits. The service at the bar was excellent with Patty (if I remember correctly) who was extremely helpful, friendly, and just the right amount of attentive. A person who appeared to be the Chef/Owner was very present in the dining room as well; I watched him check in with every guest in the restaurant at some point during their visit in a sincere manner. Some owners in the dining room just get in the way, but this one was helping staff bus tables in between greeting guests. It was a lovely evening and we cannot wait to return. As my husband and I both spent the better part of a decade each in the service industry, we were incredibly impressed by our visit here. Thank you!

Four of five had the Bell something seafood dish. The only thing lacking from the dish was bread to soak up the leftover buttery mixture. If we were smart we would have saved the mashed potatoes and put them in it. It was delicious, we all ate every bite. The sweet potato biscuits are amazing. They are tiny like a macaroon size but delicious. We actually ordered another round they were so good. The drinks were refreshing. The key lime pie was amazing, so tart but sweet and with gram cracker cashew crust. The chocolate bread pudding was super gooey and delicious. Save room for desert. Would definitely go back.

Decided to come here for dinner. Service was good and polite. Our food was prepared perfectly. The only comment I have is to choose mashed potatoes for your side. The baked sweet potato was nothing more than baked and sliced. No spices or anything. A little cinnamon and butter would be a great improvement.

Second trip to Sandbridge and my wife and I were ecstatic to find this place. It's a small little restaurant but we knew right away we were on to something. People seemed to know each other and they seemed to know the chef. That's when we hoped optimistically we had stumbled into the mythical "place where the locals hang out". We both ordered the Eastern Shore Dinner which was a Broiled Crab Cake. Now, I've had a lot of crab cakes folks, but this one stood out from the pack. That came with four of the best fried oysters I ever had and two great sides. The chef came out to serve complimentary one-bite appetizers. He even stopped to chat and found out he has family from our area. We both had the Cream of Crab, which was fantastic, then the chocolate bread pudding for dessert. There are a lot of places you can eat in the Sandbridge/ VA Beach area. Most are very touristy and serve a lot of fried food in giant portions. This is worth the drive.

One of the best seafood restaurants in Virginia Beach. It's perfectly located in Red Mill area where there aren't a bunch of seafood restaurants. It's nice but not upscale yet not too casual. I also loved how friendly and welcoming the staff were including the chef and owner. Food is delicious along with the ambiance. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is hands down the best seafood restaurant I have ever eaten at and I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the U.S. We did have an hour wait, but the location is quaint, the seating is limited, and the food is phenomenal, so a wait is a given. The service was incredible. Our waitress was welcoming and knowledgeable about the different dishes. My partner is not a big seafood fan, but the plate was clean when we left, and well, mine is always clean haha. Virginia Beach is pretty limited in high quality dining experiences, but this place should be at the top of your list when you visit. We will certainly be back in the future.

Really excellent seafood. A bit of a drive from the Cavalier Hotel but worth the 20 minute drive. We were treated to a shrimp hors d’oeuvres before we ordered. We ordered crab soup, crab cakes and fried shrimp appetizers - all very tasty. Main course was broiled local fresh Atlantic fish all tasted amazing. We had a wonderful friendly waitress and the owner (Charlie) spent some time.with us giving us history and how he prepares food and even gave us suggestion of other restaurants that served quality food. My wife and myself have visited Blue’s Seafood and Spirts 4 times. We were originally made aware of this restaurant by my father-in-law in which he highly recommended this establishment. Knowing my father-in-law whatever he feels worthy nothing else compares and we’ve heard that same opinion for many years. But I honestly have to tell everybody bases on his opinions he was spot on recommending Blue’s. My wife and muse have since gone 5 times and every exhausted been fantastic. Last night topped it off because we were celebrating our 38 anniversary and we were not disappointed. The food, the experience and service were impeccable. Where to start?! Blue Seafood was one of our absolute finest dining experiences. A small intimate atmosphere, our server was always there when we needed her, but made herself scarce for ourdv3 privacy. How she (McKenzie) managed that is unbelievable! Our food was perfect i got the Twisted Salmon. Very generous portions with an abundance of sauce, lumpmeat crab and asparagus, with sides of mashed potatoes & mixed steamed vegetables. My companion ordered the Eastern Shore Dinner. Their signature, delicious crab cake and fried oysters. Accompanied by the same sides previously mentioned. It was perfectly delicious. This was truly a 5 star experience. We remain convinced that we had the best table in Blue Seafood. Treat yourself, you'll not regret it!!

Absolutely the best seafood in the Sandbridge/Virginia Beach area. It was so good we went two nights in a row. Fresh seafood cooked so perfectly. Everything on the menu is fantastic. One of our favorite restaurants in VA Beach. We have been here several times and it is top notch. It is a nice restaurant that is also family friendly. As a parent of two small children that is something that is extremely rare and refreshing when we find it. The seafood is delectable. I haven't had a dish here that I haven't liked. The staff is extremely friendly and every time we go there they go above and beyond for everyone to make them feel welcome. This place is phenomenal. I cannot recommend it enough.

Dined last night at Blue Seafood for the first time. Eight of us altogether. We had a good wait since the restaurant is quite small, but the experience was well worth it. I opted for Steak Diane, which is unusual for me in a seafood restaurant. Absolutely, perfectly delicious!! Cooked to perfection. Service was outstanding also. The Chef sent out a welcoming delicious appetizer and came to our table during the meal to check on everything. Our waitress was charming and attentive. Best meal out by far, in a long time.

My husband and I went to dinner at Blue last night. We will definitely be back! Hubby and I have had the privilege of eating many amazing meals at some really fantastic restaurants. Blue is among the best. The atmosphere reminded me of a French bistro. The staff and service were spot on. Everyone was friendly and helpful, The chef himself came out and gave us an amuse bouche of tuna carpaccio that was sublime! I could have eaten a dozen of them. Mama Charles' Brussels with blistered Brussel sprouts, bacon, Bermuda onions, asiago and balsamic drizzle was fantastic. The brussels were cooked perfectly and the salt of the bacon balanced perfectly with the sweet of the onions and the balsamic drizzle. I highly recommend it! For entrees I got the grilled scallops which were cooked exactly perfectly. The green beans, carrots and squash were cooked and seasoned really well. They were certainly not an afterthought as they are on many plates. The sweet potato biscuits and apricot butter were some of the best biscuits I've ever eaten. WOW! I might have gotten more....Hubby got the Eastern Shore Dinner. The crab cake was very good (high praise from a Marylander) and the oysters were fantastic! He loved the veggies and biscuits too! For dessert we shared the Chocolate Bread Pudding and the Creme Brulee. I highly recommend both! Prices were excellent for such an amazing meal. I have paid almost twice that for food that wasn't nearly as good.

After seated, Chef Charles brings a small free shrimp appetizer. It was delicious. We had the Twisted Salmon Oscar and Seafood Belle Haven, both were delicious. We had double veggies. and a side salad. They too were tasty. My Belle Haven came out piping hot! No complaints in any area! We are at the bar. The bartender was great! All staff was super friendly and seemed genuinely happy we were there.

My husband and I eat at Blue Seafood every week, usually on a Wednesday or Friday evening. We have always had 100% fabulous meals. The seafood is the best in all of Hampton Roads. We won't eat anywhere else. The crab soup is so thick, filled with chunky backfin crab meat. We highly recommend the tempura shrimp, the oysters, crabcake, salmon, and Tile fish. And don't forget dessert. The key lime pie is so tasty.

They bring out shrimp with a Cajun sauce that is phenomenal. We had calamari that was wonderful. And I had one of today's specials and my husband had crab cakes. I will go as far as to say that this is the best restaurant in Hampton Roads. I had been seeing this place for quite a while but to be honest the logo threw me off. I am beyond grateful that my friends pulled me in here a couple weeks ago. Every meal I have had since dining at Blu has been sub par. The service I receive from other establishments is now lacking as well. BLUE SEAFOOD AND SPIRITS HAS RAISED THE BAR ********* Alright so like I mentioned this place is phenomenal. The owner is also the executive chef so that can give you an idea of the care he puts into every plate. We had a wait of about 45 minutes. Party of 6 with no reservation at 7pm on a Saturday. Wait is understandable. Then I see the chef running around the restaurant talking to every table, he comes and brings my group drinks while we waited! He sent a free appetizer to our table when we were seated and routinely checked on our group. Our server, Matt, was ON POINT as well. And the Have Caymus for under $100

Best dinning experience!! The food was amazing. We were given a crab croustine and pumpkin biscuits that were delicious. The crab soup was so good and the crab cakes too. We had the broiled combo plate that was so good. You must also try the desserts. We had the key lime pie and chocolate bread pudding. Both made in house and it was the perfect ending to our meal. This was all the best food and if you come to Virginia Beach you must try this place.

Food was really good. I have a shellfish allergy, so not a ton of options, but as expected at a seafood place. Loved the option of broiled or fried crab cakes. Most places just fry them south of Maryland/D.C. Good wine selection. My family got the pork chop, broiled seafood medley, and a crab cake. Our host brought out three shrimp tasters for us gratis. I'm told they were awesome. What some might not like- acoustics: a bit loud. Locals' joint so you might have a wait. Worth it!

Heard great things about this place but we weren’t impressed. My salmon was over cooked and very dry. I had the Sandfiddler drink and was no impressed. I did have the Summer Dream and it was very good! We also loved the mashed potatoes! I think it was pricy considering the amount of money we spent.

When traveling, I always seek out the restaurants that locals recommend, and steer clear of the "touristy" joints. With that said, I've been coming to Virginia Beach for years, and thought I had pretty well figured out where the best seafood restaurants were. WRONG!!! Blue Seafood and Spirits was wonderful, and quite possibly the best seafood that I've ever had. The atmosphere was relaxed, but clean and modern at the same time. The chef, Charles, came out and introduced himself, and checked up on our satisfaction, which was awesome - something you don't see much of these days. Did I mention that the food was absolutely amazing!? I will be back for sure!!!!

I've been here twice now about a year apart and both times were fantastic. Expect to wait, but they have a great system where you can see where you are on the queue and text when table is ready. The food is always fresh and fantastic. The dessert this time key lime pie was amazing. Good drink prices and friendly service. At first with the name I thought this would be more of a sports bar. I was gravely mistaken this is a genuine seafood restaurant with amazing food. my husband and I were surprised at how small the place was but the food more than made up for the size of the restaurant. Our server Vicky was awesome and the house manager is incredibly great. The highlight are the sweet potato biscuits with the apricot jam but every bit was amazing. We will definitely be returning for more.

One of the best experiences I’ve had in a VERY long time!!! I’ve been Vegan for about 6 months (health reasons) and my boyfriend, who eats meat, just came back from overseas and wanted some good seafood. We were not only lucky enough to find a restaurant that accommodated both of our diets but provided HIGH QUALITY food and service. Our server (Jordan?) was so sweet and informative!! When she noticed I ordered no cheese on my vegan chicken she also asked if I was full vegan as to avoid having my food cooked in butter. I know it may not seem like much but most restaurants and servers wouldn’t even care and have even gone out of their way to still add animal products into my meals. The environment was private, intimate, yet also engaging with some extremely interesting and delicious cocktails (I had the cucumber martini). Thank you Jordan (so sorry if I didn’t get your name right) and thank you to the restaurant for making our first date night in 5 months absolutely astounding. Definitely coming back soon!

First I have to say; I have NEVER had a better dining experience. The food was a sublime. Excellent full flavored foods with a wide flavor profile creating the most delicious food I've had in a very long time. Prices are reasonable, but with how wonderful everything is, and how kind and courteous everyone is, that you may end up spending more than you thought you would. My biggest, and frankly only, complaint is that it's too small. For the amazingness of the experience, you would think it's a 5 star restaurant.

This was a dining experience...more than just a meal. This Wednesday night we arrived and the hostess greeted us with menus and allowed us to select one of two tables and I chose the one in the corner by the bar. I ordered the oysters Rock as my appetizer and a Margarita. My friend ordered a Mojito with pineapple juice. Derek (our waiter) had given us the specials verbally and I was thinking the Bass Vera Cruz would be tasty. I asked him to repeat the specials when he returned and I couldn't believe he'd said the lamb chop was accompanied by Andouille Sausage and veggies. I was "SOLD". The drinks arrived and he offered to let me taste his and it was outstanding! I was close enough to the bar to tell the bar tender that I'd been fortunate enough to travel who world while I was in the Marines and that she's the best bar tender on the planet! Chef Charles just happened to be leaving our table and we all had a nice laugh. The chef bought us something delicious made with cream cheese on a crostini. Wish I'd been paying attention when he told me what it was called. Dinner arrived and it did not disappoint. My friend loved the tempura shrimp and salad...the cheesy potatoes were okay. We both thought the apricot butter on the sweet potato biscuits could win an award of some kind. When I came home the one thing I was sorry I didn't have in my doggy bag was the apricot butter. It's right on point! My lamb chop was medium rare as I asked and the veggies were tasty. I'd never seen the larger julienne cut of parsnips and carrots that were almost as large as the Haricots Verts (or thin green beans). The andouille sausage was nothing like the type I'd become accustomed to while I was stationed in New Orleans but it was acceptable. I not only highly recommend this restaurant, the chef and bar tender but I also can't wait to go back again. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. Chef Charles gives that personal touch to the dining experience. I can also recommend Derek (our waiter) and the especially talented bar tender who's name I forgot to ask. I'll make sure to get it for my next review. She's gotta get a raise in pay now! (Smile)

Had a great experience at Blue last night. I was in a party of six and the food was awesome! It started with the little lagniappes (shrimp crostini and sweet potato biscuit) and carried on through with the appetizers to the entrees; it was all very amazing. They have a great drink menu too. What even made the experience better was the amazing service. Our server was extremely nice and knew the menu well. The chef was also awesome and checked on us as well as all the other tables in restaurant. He even took our picture after several failed selfie attempts. We will definitely come back and I highly recommend this awesome restaurant.

My girlfriend and I love this place, and the owner/chef, but we have went four times in two months. He needs to take a look at his staff because it is going to cost him maybe his great business. I first time was amazing are waitress was on top of everything even with them being super busy. The second time we went food was a always has been outstanding but service was a little wosre. Then the third and fourth time we had the worse possible waitress in the place. Our last time in there she had three tables in the same area all side by side. Told me she was going to get me more tea and watched her walk by our table several times to go to the two tables beside us to make sure they had all the alcoholic drinks they needed and brought several drinks to them. I understand bar drinks is the best way to make money, but to ignore your other paying customers is a shame. I think its going to be a little while before we head back.

Located in the Red Mill Commons shopping center. It's adjacent to other stores...as in a strip mall but you'll be able to see the signage as you drive around the stores. We had a 15 minute wait on a Tuesday. Three customers leaving told us the wait was worth it. The seating area is small.. I'm guessing... maybe capacity is 60. Signature cocktails are crafted very deliciously! I had the sweet potato + asparagus risotto w/scallops. The scallops were delicious! The risotto was pretty good; definitely different with sweet potato. Service was classy.

The food is great, I doing there's a bad thing on the menu. Soft shell crabs were in season when we went. Fresh and delicious. Tried this place on a whim and OMG so fresh and delicious! The best seafood I have ever experienced. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for our anniversary and it was perfect. The restaurant itself is very quaint and stylish. The seats were incredibly comfortable and I was delighted to hear New Age music coming through the speakers. The service was superb, we were greeted and helped by almost every server and had personal visitations from the chef. Everything we tried, from the free appetizers to our entrees was exquisite. Definitely will be back.

They carry a variety of local craft beers, which I thoroughly enjoy supporting local when ever I can, and the restaurant is locally owned as well, so a win win for me. Awesome food. Great service fast and clean. The salmon stuffed crab topped with a spinach cream sauce was amazing. Cream corn crab soup was a definate must try and try again. The halibut and scallops and lump crab was amazingly fresh. You can taste every ingredient and other than the croutons nothing tasted like it came from a can or a bag. If you have never been or are thinking about it. Just stop and just do it. You will.never regret it!

I haven't ever enjoyed scallops or oysters ( especially raw) but tried them here and loved every bite. My family enjoyed every moment in the restaurant, The server (Derek) was hilarious. Our food came out fresh and hot, Derek was attentive without being annoying and was very knowledgeable about the various specials of the day. Chef Charles Thain brought some appetizers to our table and spent time talking with us and our kids. We have rated this our #1 family meal out an are planning a return 3 hr drive to eat at blue again.

The hubby and I decided to try a new restaurant for dinner this evening. We have TRULY been missing out as having not been to Blue Seafood yet. It's a little spendy (in my opinion) but it was so worth every penny! The food was so good I can't even tell you how amazing it was! It was nirvana. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet (we were there early) and it's such a pretty place inside. I fell in love before I even took a bite. Our waiter, Derek, was top notch. He was polite, attentive, and the perfect example of food service staff. Other waiters should eat at Blue and take notes on service. The decor is comfortable,food is fresh, high quality, flavorful and the and preparation consistent, I enjoy the tempura shrimp, crab cakes(eastern shore jumbo lump), their amazing crab soups (varies from month to month). Love the fresh broiled fish and scallops. I try to save room for Shannon's amazing key lime pie or Chocolate bread pudding.Go Blue, I am proud and impressed.

Small, but clearly popular, local seafood restaurant. We arrived at 4:45pm and there were a few tables open, but by 5pm there was a line to get in! The wait staff were extremely attentive, the chef brought over a free appetizer that was awesome, and the owner came over to make sure our meal was great! I had their fried Oysters, cooked perfectly, and my wife had they broiled seafood platter that was also cooked/seasoned perfect!

It was classic, food was fresh, the dish I chose 😖 not so much, the swordfish was OK too much olives made the dish too tart...but what I can tell you is the staff is friendly, its a small quiet spot, A bit pricey, nice and cosy, comfortable furnishings. Maybe the other dishes are better. I only eat fish so this restaurant was right up my ally. I will try it again.

Everytime we leave Blue we feel a little better about everything, it seems. From the bartender to the servers and Charles and Shannon chefs/owners), everyone makes you feel at home. If you haven't been, give it a try. You won't be disappointed. No reservations, so get their early being a 60-seater.

We have enjoyed Charlie's culinary expertise for several years now and it is by far the best restaurant not in Virginia, but Virginia Beach. Unfortunately they don't take reservations but you can put your name in and then shop the 45 minutes to an hour it normally takes to get a table. Charlie only uses fresh soft shells from the Eastern Shore --ie no frozen for him-- and they are the best I've ever had. From start to finish fine cuisine with reasonable prices.

I visit Sandbridge every summer, and include this restaurant as an annual trip as well. First, the food is delicious. There are many seafood options and it is not all deep friend greasy faire. The chef is very active and will visit many if not all the tables. Furthermore, he offers little treats made daily in a dim sum style that are complementary. The cocktails are great as well, and the deserts were very tasty. This is a perfect example of a focused menu delivered with high quality ingredients and preparation. The ambiance is consistent with the name of the restaurant, blue and simple. It is understated and not pretentious while still leaning toward the high end. The staff is very friendly and will answer all questions with a smile. None of the weaknesses of this establishment add up to make it not worth visiting, however I'll list them for full disclosure. There are no reservations, and very limited waiting space. Also, the prices just barely touch the high side, about $23 per entree. However, and I can't stress this enough, this a very high quality product delivered well and in a manner accessible to everyone. I highly recommend visiting.

Came to Blue about 4 years ago, and was very impressed. Revisit was just as good. Best seafood in the Virginia Beach area. Servers were great. Had to wait about half hour for a table for 10, but well worth it. Even the for children ate everything. Well recomended.

For our main entrees, my friend had soft shell crabs with a vegetable medley and asiago mashed potatoes. The portions were huge and he said the soft shelled crabs were perfect. I had a single crab cake with the vegetable medley and asiago mashed potatoes for my sides also. The sides were good and my crab cake was absolutely amazing! Definitely the best crab cake I've ever had. No fillers like some restaurants. After I ordered, I immediately started to wonder if I had made a mistake ordering crab cakes, since I had the Twisted Salmon Oscar on my previous visits and loved it. No regrets, both are delicious.

Visiting from out of town and heard from reviews here that they fill up quick but are worth the wait. We were a little concerned when we pulled into a big shopping plaza that the meal might not be what we were expecting for fresh seafood but when we stopped in front the hostess met us outside to take down our name and gave us a 45 min wait, she also gave us some nearby suggestions to pass the time. When we came back after 30 min we were seated promptly. Our server, Tania was super friendly and provided great service. The restaurant owner even came by a few times to check in and talk with us. The food was amazing and definitely exceeded our expectations! This is certainly a place we'll go back to if we visit VA beach again.

The service was excellent, and the food was amazing...from the shrimp ceviche unexpectedly brought to our table before our salads, to the sweet potato biscuits and honey butter, to the crabcakes, fried platter, sauces, sides, and dessert. The creme brulee was good, but the key lime pie was the best I've ever had. We also loved the location as it's away from the crowds at the beach. Been wanting to get here for a couple years...finally made it! Their hours are really specific...dinner only. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Space is small but maybe that is what makes it nice. Food is really good. A little pricey but I believe it is worth the extra coin. I had the scallops, crab, and shrimp baked with a cheese coating. If it wasn't for the layer of cheese on top, the seafood would have been bland, although everything was cooked perfectly. Veggies were also really good. Mash potatoes I thought again were a little bland. Texture was really nice but again, just bland. They were missing something. Did not do desert even though everything that passed in front of me looked awesome. What we talked most about were the little biscuits packed with wholesome goodness! Yummy!

Great local place with friendly staff. Had Mako shark with blue cheese that was great. The Calamari was cooked perfect. Deserts were delicious. The menu was simple which allows for the restaurant to bring great food from appetizer to entree to desserts.

The staff is extremely friendly and very attentive. The chef even makes his rounds with the customers. As previously stated the place is very quaint so you may have a small wait. We had the fisherman catch and the Belle Haven seafood, which was an entree with crab, scallops and shrimp broiled and covered with cheese. The sides were seasoned vegetables, a white sweet potato and mashed potatoes. You can substitute the vegetables for a salad for an additional fee. The 1st sweet potato was cold, the 2nd was overcooked and the mashed potatoes weren't very tasty. The chef however compensated by giving us a cup of clam soup for the inconvenience. The flounder was seasoned and prepared perfectly as well as the Belle Haven seafood, only wished the portion was larger. I'm not sure if I was as impressed as the other patrons.

Blue Seafood is like a little hidden gem because it looks pretty nondescript and is tucked into a small strip mall at Red Mill. It doesn't really stand out at all but once you're inside it's small and often crowded bc it's a local favorite for those of us who live in the area. Seafood is yummy and fresh and they have white sweet potatoes (what?!?!) that are perfectly cooked and so delicious they don't even need butter or salt. I sat at the bar on my first visit and quickly made friends with some other locals who eat there often. Service was fast and the food was well-cooked and out quickly.
