Reading the reviews I was excited to try this local good food. The restaurant looks great. Beautiful setting by the water and lots of seating. The hostess seated us quickly outside. Then we waited and waited for services. After 10 minutes with all kind of people walking by us but NO one came to check on us or take our order. I flag down the hostess to ask for our server. 5 more minutes passed and no one. I give it one last chance and went to look for the manager. All my years and thousands of restaurant I have yet to go to the manager for service. Finally Will showed up after the manager followed me to my table. We were able to order. Finally. The food is delicious. Will recovered and did well after. Hope they get this resolved the long wait for service.

What an awesome restaurant! Found out about this place off of a Facebook post and glad I did! Steven was our waiter and was very nice and quick with refills and service was great! The Strawberry 🍓 Salad 🥗 was the best she's ever had according to my wife who is picky about her food sometimes and I tasted it and agree, fabulous! I had the steamed oysters and steamed shrimp 🍤 and both were fresh and delicious! Coming back soon and as a Google Guide I've done over 200 reviews and I highly suggest checking this place out, the view was really nice too...coming back at night next time!⭐×5...

Had the Lobster bowl for Sunday brunch and one of their massive donuts. Delicious!!! Had a bit of a wait (45 minutes) despite lots of empty tables. But they have a great menu...would love to come back to try more! Very generous portions! Friendly staff! Highly recommend!

I visited this place when they had a pop up networking event so I didn't see the regular menu - we had a special menu and it was amazing. I was able to check out the restaurant and I look forward to going back. It's a drive for me - I live in Suffolk - but it's worth it. Be mindful of parking and the weather - they have a gravel lot. Bonus points though because it's well maintained.

Great brunch menu - very reasonably priced with large entrees. We had the lobster bowl and shrimp and grits, which were both full of flavor. There is a lovely porch and an indoor dining room. The outdoor ambiance is great and we really enjoyed our meal.

This was an enjoyable meal and overall experience. I wish there was more of a 4.5 star rating as I'd probably rate it right in there. Overall the food was good. I had a shrimp PO boy which with bacon and cheese was a unique and delicious experience. The French fries were great and green beans were as well. The mac and cheese was only so so, same for the mashed potatoes. The outdoor dining and dock area is beautiful and a really unique experience for dining. The live entertainment (the beekeepers) were very good and the sound not at all overpowering, which led to a pleasant experience. We liked it overall and would visit again when we return to the area.

RSVP for a party of 20. Service was pretty good considering the amount of ppl we had. There was a few mistakes on the orders, but was fixed promptly. Food was out in a decent amount of time and it was good. This place is very kid friendly as they have a make shift beach with toys. Our son enjoyed the garden and watching the boats come in and out. It's a very unique restaurant as the food was delicious and it's obviously family oriented. Will be back!

We showed up (unannounced) with a tour group and were handled perfectly. They split us up and took care of our orders. Service was great and all the staff members were very friendly. Thank you all for making our lunch a great experience. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was great, wife had the brunch burger (without the egg) and it was filling and tasty.

Our family visited during VA Beach restaurant week. The food and service was EXCELLENT! Misty was our server and she was very attentive and friendly. The portion sizes were quite large… so we had some delicious leftovers. The ambiance and views are beautiful. Highly recommended!

Blue Pete's Restaurant is located along N. Muddy Creek Rd. in the Pungo section of Virginia Beach. The road is definitely a typical back road with deep ditches, so watch your driving to and from here. The place is not hard to find from the road. There is ample parking here, but it is not paved, so you'll be parking on dirt or mud, depending on the weather. My most recent visit here was on February 5, 2021 during the 2021 Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. I have heard about this place for quite a bit over the years. It wasn't until the 2021 Virginia Beach Restaurant Week that it got me to come in and try the place. The menu for the restaurant week looked good, and that was what ultimately got me to go in and try them out. Once we came inside, we were immediately greeted. They asked first if we had a reservation, which we did not, but was no issue since we were there before the "rush", so we were immediately seated. Also, Covid-19 protocols were in full effect as well. Tables were spaced out in such a way so that they complied with the CDC guidance and masks were required to be on when not at your table. The first visit was on February 2, 2021, which was also during the 2021 Restaurant Week. After being seated, we were greeted by our server and asked us what we wanted to drink. After getting the drinks, it was time to order. We took full advantage of the restaurant week menu on this visit. For the appetizer, I went with the Coconut Shrimp. Since it was a shrimp of a night, I went with the Fried Shrimp as the entrée with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese as the sides. My mom had the same entrée, but had some different sides. The appetizers came out within a few minutes of ordering. The coconut shrimp were amazingly good. They weren't overly breaded and a good size shrimp with each one. I'm not a fan of raspberry, so I asked for cocktail sauce instead for the coconut shrimp, which they were able to do. After about 10 minutes or so, it was time for the entrées to come out. The timing was perfect as it was shortly after finishing the appetizer. The food looked extremely appealing and it was time to devour the shrimp. The food came out piping hot, so we gave it a minute or two to start, but that's how I like food coming out. In the end, the shrimp and sides (mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese) were great too. The last part of the meal on the restaurant week menu was dessert. We would end up going with the brownie, but took it home to have later since the meal was a good size already. Later that evening we each had our brownies and they were really good. They were nice and soft. Overall, the food and service were on point here. It was so good that first time that we did come back a second time that week, still during restaurant week, on February 5th. With great food and great service, this really is a great hidden gem in the Pungo area of Virginia Beach. If you are looking for a seafood place, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Good food, as always. (just pricey, but who isn't anymore !) It's been a while since we've been there. We were seated at our table with no menus but didn't really think about it...just assumed someone would bring one. Finally our server came for our drink order and we asked for a menu... turns out they assumed we knew to scan the QR code on the table for a menu... So, just a heads up, ask for a paper menu when you get there if you don't want to use your phone. Server was knowledgeable about gluten free, much appreciated.

I loved just about everything about this place. First visit here and if we are going off of the great food, drinks, relaxed atmosphere and amazing outside view that includes the boardwalk, water front view, the lights and heaters for outside dining, I'd def visit time and time again..but if we are going off of the restrooms, it's a no for me. The candle was a decent distraction but it still smelled, as well as the men's and the toilets need major attention as well. Hopefully it's just been extremely busy and they hadn't been able to care for that space and the next time it will be better.

Shortage of staff was not the issue. Food was okay (A 4 out of 5). It took 20+ minutes to get a server, the we had 2. Our food came out on time. It was a bit pricey. They add a kitchen service fee, it was a bit surprised by that. Once we were given the check it took 4 minutes to pay. I wish the service was that quick. The outside had food and service faster than the inside seating.

First of all the ride to this location is beautiful. The employees must be happy there because it shows in their work. Service was great! Crab dip, stream shrimp, coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, crab cake and burgers were enjoyed at our table. My orange crush was the best I've had in a long time. There was live music presented by the detonators. Best time I've had in a super long time. Definitely will return. Logan was our server super nice dude. One fun fact, there are tons of super tall people that frequent there. They must grow them tall and pungo 😍

There will never be a Blue Pete's such as the one run by the Ricks' in the 70s and 80s. That being said, the new Blue Pete's does a good job overall in all aspects from customer service to menu options, and their unique mixed drinks. If you're planning to dine there in the upcoming future check their website for entertainment dates. For Baby Boomers, we last dined there recently and it was like a step back into time. The Sam Floyd Band played outside and, boy, were we entertained - as if the original bands were there playing and singing. It was truly awesome and lent a huge ambiance to our night. There's something at Blue Pete's for everyone.

Sooooooo yummy!! Friendly staff and great atmosphere! Right beside an inlet or some kind of waterway with boardwalks that you can feed fish off of. They have benches set up and twinkle lights for all the right romantic feels. I think they also have kayak rentals. Highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back!

The quality of the food, the service, and the location, overlooking a tributary feeding into Back Bay, were all fantastic. I want to thank the staff of Blue Pete's, especially Dawn, for their help in making special a memorial dinner for my mother who passed back in the summer. The dinner was lovely and we know she would have been pleased. I look forward to returning when I'm back in town for a few pints and will recommend Blue Pete's, for a lunch, a visit or for an event, to anyone who'll listen.

Went to Blue Pete's restaurant week and had an amazing time! Food was phenomenal and the vibe was just so great we decided that even after we finished eating to stay for a few drinks in the bar area and enjoy the live music. Jordan was our bartender was friendly and tentative. The owner was out and about mingling with the guests and was just awesome! If your looking for a great evening check this place out.... hands down one of the best times I've had in Virginia Beach!

It's a great place for drinks and atmosphere. The food was subpar for me (undercooked broccoli/ mango Mahi missed the mark - she crab soup was like gravy with very little actual crab) but my hubby loved his fish and chips - the sweet potato biscuits were very good and the service was decent. We plan giving this establishment another shot especially on a buy one get one Sunday!

We went once before and it was great but we were disappointed this time. Seafood brunch items were tasty and hot, but had very little seafood in them and drinks had too much ice for the price. Draft beer selection was good, as was server. Rest room area needed a plumber. Overall not bad, but not as good as it was on our previous visit. Hope we were just there on a bad day.

A local gem, this place is a bit of a trek, but the food is awesome and the location is really cool. It’s a local favorite with a loyal following. We’ve been going here for decades and we’ve never been disappointed. If you find yourself in Sandbridge, make the trip and get Pungo ‘Possumed at Blue Pete’s! The food is fancy, but they’re not.

This is my new favorite restaurant. The service and food are 2nd to none. The atmosphere was fantastic. Do not skip this place. Do not 2nd guess coming here. Do it. Just go. The brisket was cooked to perfection. The crab legs were perfect. The mac n cheese is an 11 out of 10. Everything about this place is amazing. I can't wait to go back.

At the recommendation of our new friend “Modge”, a former local resident, we gave this place a try. It never hurts to start off with a great waterside seat on the deck under a clear blue sky, but Blue Pete’s would have been home run anyway. Three people had great Brisket sandwiches and I tried the Shrimp and Grits. The Brisket sandwiches were accompanied with a nice au jus and crispy, delicious fries. The Shrimp and Grits was a well proportioned and flavorful dish. One person also ordered some Chicken Wings. I “borrowed” one for my review and happily report the wings were perfectly cooked and seasoned. As a bonus, the service staff were so pleasant and worked extremely well together. I look forward to coming back and trying the She Crab Soup.

Had a great brunch. Got to meet the owners (brothers) and they had their families around for an event they we're holding too. All the staff is very friendly. First time we went for brunch and it was very good. Sweet potato biscuits and gravy, pecan stuffed french toast, shrimp and grits. We tried multiple plates to see what we liked best. They also had chicken and waffles but we didn't get them, they looked good on other ppl tables. $3 bloody Mary (I got spicy and it was spicy), $3 mimosas. Berry was very good. Definitely gonna take my mom when she comes to visit.

Been here a couple times before but it was at the top of our list for VB Restaurant Week and wow, it definitely DID NOT disappoint! My husband ordered the blackened tuna bites, the Mahi Imperial, and the brownie sundae, while I had the oysters rock, Crab encrusted Salmon, and the sweet potato bread pudding. Both entrees were absolutely fabulous, with the Mahi Imperial being one of the top ten delicious foods I’ve ever eaten! Blackened Mahi with lump crab topped off with their AMAZING she-crab soup...mouth watering deliciousness all around! My favorite seafood spot, and in the summer, its amazing with excellent location right on the creek! Absolutely highly recommended if you’re visiting or looking for a night out. Absolutely WILL NOT be disappointed!!

Our 3rd visit. Table for 4, short wait on Thursday evening. Salad and appetizers great. Seafood dishes, fried very hot and good. Crab encrusted salmon, nice and warm, but not hot! Same with Mahi Imperial. Brisket went back it was cut with the grain, and couldn't be cut with provided knife. Tried shredding, dry and stringy. Dipped in joice, good flavor. Deserts very good. Bar good flavor, but stingy for the ptice. But good enough to go again.

This place was both beautiful and fun. The waitress was kind and attentive and the food... The food was AMAZING. Though a bit pricey, you are served a heaping plate with plenty of food to compensate the price. I had the fried flounder, with fries and broccoli and just wow. The fries had some kind of seasoning, possibly Old Bay, and the broccoli had a garlicky seasoning. Both sides were incredible, arguably some of the best broccoli and fries I'd ever had. If you're looking for a cute, DELICIOUS, place to eat, this is it! Located in the bayou, there is a dock where locals can bring their boats, park, and come right in for food. Very neat to see!

One of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time, from the service to the food to the atmosphere. Highly recommended. Everyone enjoyed their food - steamed crab legs, crab cake, crab crusted salmon, and kids popcorn shrimp. Every item was cooked to perfection and all of the plates went back to the kitchen empty. We even splurged on desserts - brownie sundae and blueberry lemon cheesecake - and were very satisfied. Service was some of the best we've ever had in Virginia Beach. Jen was lovely and truly cared about us having a good time and enjoying our food. We've lived in Virginia Beach for years and are sad that it took us this long to find Blue Pete's. This will become a regular date night spot for us.

Blue Pete's is a fantastic restaurant! My wife and I regularly visit Virginia Beach, and especially Sandbridge, yet this gem has seemingly been off our radar. We finally went, and I must say it will become a mandatory visit when we're here. The food, drink, and service was fantastic. We had the Pungo Smash for cocktails, the Calamari, and Coconut shrimp to start. All were fantastic. I had the Crab Encrusted Salmon and my wife had the Mahi Imperial. Both were excellent, but I would say mine was superior. Overall, one of the best experiences I've had in Virginia Beach, and one I will certainly have again.

Great atmosphere. I like dining outside as you can watch some patrons pull up and tie off their boats. Building is a little old, but not too bad. Food is amazing! Nice dinner for two runs about $100.

Such an amazing restaurant! The building itself has a really neat style and decor. Even though we sat inside (rainy day), the outside area looked really neat too between the bar, gazebo, and little inlet/creek. The restaurant's food is really good too. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their dishes and the complimentary rolls/biscuits. Being an upscale seafood spot, it is a little pricey but absolutely worth it!

Atmosphere is great and the staff are wonderful. The food just wasn't what I was expecting, came here with friends so I didn't know what I was getting into. Thought it was seafood but they do offer a variety of dishes. The coconut shrimp were fantastic though. Wish oysters were served raw.

The food is really good but giving them a 4 for the uneven table given to us (15°tilting more or less) considering there where lots of vacant tables and they said they can accommodate us if we where just walk in which was not the case as we do have a reservation but they seem to be mixed up.

Oh wow! This was a great meal!! My husband had Fish & Chips. He said the batter had a light spicy kick and the fish was perfectly cooked. I had the brisket which was phenomenal! Our server, Karen, was wonderful. We will absolutely make this a regular restaurant visit when we get back to VA Beach!!

This place is delicious, but you have to know a few things when you go there. 1) They only have hard water, so plan on drinking a pop because the water is not good. The pop tastes a little off as well. 2) Every year we go here, we are always freezing. Bring a sweater/sweatshirt. 3) They charge a service charge on top of the bill, which is not the tip. It's an incentive program to try to keep cooks. (Can't remember how much it is.)

Fabulous! Don’t miss out on this place. Was in area on vacation and tried brunch. OMG sooo good. The food was fresh, delicious, and you could tell the kitchen staff took their time to care about each dish. Wait time was a bit long, but well worth the wait when you taste the food. Didn’t get rushed out. Was so good we went back for dinner another night and were just as happy. Try the specialty drinks, and drink flights. Fabulous! And best of all was Tim, our waiter. The Blackened Mahi Imperial was delicious as always. The Tuna bowl was very fresh. The food came out very quickly and the service was great. The waitress was trying someone and it was still quicker than most places we eat. Blue Petes never disappoints when we go.

Great place! Menu is seafood themed but well suited for all tastes and the photos that you find here on maps are an accurate depiction of what you'll get at the table. Ambiance is probably the best part about this place; the atmosphere is a great bar setup inside and feels like a completely different place outside (in a good way) with a backwoods, VA feel. After a first-time visit for a date night, I'll most certainly be back.

Great local atmosphere! Wonderful for friends or family gatherings as well as ample space for events. I love the open back area that has a nice little water view and the open deck area with lots of high top tables to hang out at. To start with the parking lot is unpaved which is completely fine if it wasn't full of deep divits (pot holes if I'm going to be blunt). I came here due to a family outing, that being said I'm a vegetarian and I knew from the beginning that the choices would be very limited which was fine. Just because of the choices being limited doesn't mean the quality of food should be any different from any other item ordered off their menu. The staff seemed a tad unprepared as if they didn't have their stuff together, they were nice but had no knowledge of what they had or what they were out of ( when finding out you are out of an item state it and list alternatives instead of everything else you do not have. It just seemed a bit unprofessional). Now on to the food, my mother ordered fried shrimp that was not peeled properly before frying, her broccoli was also on the over cooked side. We order two different dips ( artichoke dip and a crab dip) which came out good, the chips were on the dark side. My other family member made a note of how his fried chicken tasted and smelt off. On to my main complaint, Nachos aren't hard to make nor does it take a long time to assemble. My nachos which I ordered with no meat came to me when everyone else's food arrived, good so far right? I start to dig in but notice that the chips were all very soggy. The nachos should've been the last item to be made and sent out. The ingredients all seem good and fresh just it was a big shame of how soggy it was. I didn't state anything to the staff due to them seeming disgruntled. The sweet tea was not sweet tea at all. All this being said the place seemed clean as well as the bar area looked well stocked. Our bill came to $150 and we all left more or less on the unsatisfied side which shouldn't be the case for the amount spent.

We both ordered fish and chips, and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food as well as the taste. We arrived during happy hour and the bottled beer that my husband chose was only $2. Their crabby french fries were excellent. I would have given them five stars except for the fact; they brought us to what I would consider one of the worst tables in the restaurant, when there were many more tables available. We asked to be moved and then they presented us with a window table. At that time there was at least six window tables available. Just a little training is needed for the hostess. We will bring our out of town guests to this restaurant in the future.

Mahi Mahi Imperial is amazing this dish has layers of flavor and is very generous. The coconut shrimp weren't as I expected flavor was off may have been from over cooking but the dipping sauce made it palatable. Rock oysters were very delicious and the Greek salad went well with our meal.

We were a bit skeptical when we were seated and it took almost 7 minutes to be acknowledged, but we were pleasantly surprised once our server arrived. He was on top of our order and service every step of the way! We had calamari for our appetizer - fantastic! We both ordered lemon salmon and it was perfectly prepared. The broccoli was wonderful - not wet or hard as we have experienced at other restaurants. For dessert, we shared a brownie a la mode. It was great! Service was spot on and we left stuffed! Best overall restaurant we've been to in a year. Definitely will return.

We went for the Easter Buffet. Not your garden variety staples for Easter but a nice selection. They did a great job of keeping most items well stocked. I think our server was Mazie and she did a fantastic job! Nice choice of fresh fruit and pastries. Definitely very worth the modest price. We waited right around 45 minutes so not terrible. Overall we had a wonderful time and meal! Thanks to the owners and all the staff for giving up part of your Easter to make ours and many others' enjoyable!

Love this place. Great food, excellent service and a fun local environment out on the patio. Best sweet potato fries I've had at any restaurant and we try them everywhere we go. The pancakes at brunch are giant and buttery and delicious. The blackened tuna with wasabi sauce is a crowd favorite. Come by boat, enjoy a live band, and sit in Jack's section. You won't regret a trip here!

Almost 2 hours of work tip??? I mean where is this going, what's next? 25, 30, 33% tip??? Not going back.

Haven't been here in years. Decided to go for our anniversary dinner. First place we've been since the pandemic began. Knew they had a big yard with outdoor seating. From the moment we walked in, until the moment we walked out, it was an absolutely glorious experience from start to finish. Starting with their tea-size sweet potato biscuits to their delicious cocktails, to the perfectly mixed salad, to the divine entrees, mixed with an attentive and thoughtful waitress, surrounded by the beautiful outdoors, watching small fishing boats pull up to the dock at the end of a successful fishing day, the perfect weather, the smell of the water, the flowers mixed with the intoxicating feeling of being out in public again, watching people laugh, listening to them talking excitedly, knowing that we were the lucky ones who have continued to survive during these surreal times. A perfect culmination of a romantic night to celebrate our love, the purchase of our beautiful new home, the joy of good food, the beauty of my hometown, and acknowledging our blessed life. This spot was the perfect place for us.

We walked right in and we’re seated right away. We ordered the calamari and oyster rock. They were to our table within 5 minutes. And they were delicious!!! We then had crab legs and the fried crab cakes. They were also to the table within minutes!! We were seated and had our main course by 5:35. Really great food and the kids enjoyed outside with the sand and the boats coming in and out

Nice restaurant. However most of it is outside. We got there when it first opened and the wait time was an hour, and they don't take reservations. There was a website where you could check what place in line you were so that was pretty cool. They said we could wait at the bar but there was 11 of us so that wasn't possible. There was plenty of seating available but we were told that they didn't want to seat people and have them wait to long. Seems the kitchen staff couldn't keep up with the demand. However once we were seated service was prompt and food delivered quickly. Everyone loved there for. I don't eat seafood which was the majority of the menu but there was one appetizer that wasn't seafood which was the wings with the house sauce (bbq + hot sauce) which were good. Also got the wedge salad and beef brisket. The beef brisket was too die for. Overall the good equaled the bad, that's why it only got 3 stars.

My daughter just celebrated her bday here about an hour ago. Listen, this place is just too cool. The girls had a spa day, and they didn't want to leave. The staff were very polite, professional, full of personality and excellent with the kids. This is the perfect place for a girls bday party. Update. Finally tried dinner with the family tonight and I hate to say it but the brunch is leaps and bounds better. Got the Mahi imperial and it was really under seasoned. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were good, but the worst thing about the experience was when the hostess decided to sit us at the furtherest table outside, right by the water. Their were other tables closer to the bar and actual building but that’s where she sat us, in left field in the dark, an LED light in the umbrella that was more like a dinner bell. That is when the feast began. My whole family was then devoured by the thousand mosquitoes that swarmed us. I know it’s outdoor seating but have a little compassion about seating especially when there were tables closer to the building and away from the water. There was like one couple behind us in waiting for a table so I know it wasn’t due to availability. It was more to balance out tables for the staff. We even used bug spray that didn’t even work, if anything it seasoned us up…will always come for the brunch but probably won’t be back for dinner. Hands down my favorite brunch place. Love getting out in the country and the restaurant is right by a dock. Best shrimp and grits I’ve had around the area. I’ve really want to try their dinner but haven’t had A chance to yet but it’s my go to for my family.

Location is A1. It's beautiful outside. Wait was about 30 minutes at 5:30pm on a Saturday (not too bad). Once we were seated it took a server just under another 30 minutes to greet us and get our drinks. Didn't enjoy that. However drinks and then food came quick (app in about 10 and main in about 20). Food was fresh and enjoyable but something messed up my stomach. Probably won't go again because of the waiting, but food and location were good.

We have lived in the area almost six years, and decided to finally try this place over the weekend with out of town guests. We waited 30 minutes for a server, and only got one after inquiring three separate times to multiple staff members. The hostess at this establishment was rude and uninterested in solving this issue after it had brought to her attention by other staff members and myself. It was only once we got ready to leave, were we given a server. Upon overhearing our issues, two tables next to us walked out. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service at this restaurant. For such a community staple, I expected better.

WOW WOW WOW What a great experience and the food was delicious and well per portion ioned. In simple terms my favorite restaurant since I moved to Virginia 3 years ago from Dallas. (Which by the way has incredible restaurants). Blue Pete would excel there. The service was fantastic but not intrusive. Grace, our server was the absolute best. Quick to follow up and a pleasure to visit with. Ask for her and tip well. She’ll deserve it! The lady barkeep, Kayla, went overboard to make sure my wife’s margarita was made to her specifications. - perfection. The manager dropped by to check on us. My wife casually mention the fried chips that came with our wonderful crab dip, were a “little too salty “. Within 5 minutes she returned with still hot chips (no salt) and perfected the dip. The “janitor” owner dropped by to say hi and was real fun to cut up with. He had to rush off to fix a thingamabob. We had the best dining experience, food included, that we have had since we’ve been in Virginia Watch out Dallas! Well done guys you’ve won a patron for life Jeff & Mary K.

Fantastic restaurant. Off the beaten track, back bay lagoon setting, Food is absolutely fantastic. Great variety of food on the menu, everything is perfectly seasoned and presented. A couple of years ago, the landscape was transformed so that the bay area is actually part of the ambiance. Huge wraparound deck, plenty of picnic tables, and generous drinks. As with anywhere, the post pandemic reality is that prices have increased. However, the food remains extremely high quality. She crab soup is phenomenal, as is the tuna. Surf and Turf, pasta Portofino, and the brisket are notable menu sensations. Would recommend for sure!

They closed rather early conceding they were trying to apear as a night club. ...they have a good sized outside deck to eat and dance when a band is playing. Did order a chicken sandwich and fries. My brother lives in VA Beach and every time we visit we go here. The atmosphere is casual but the service is impeccable. Every dish I've ever had has been delicious and the menu does change occasionally, so there is some variety, too. Finally, get a "Pungo Smash"! A cocktail that will knock you back!

meh.... we spent more than twice at this restaurant than anywhere else during our week at Sandbridge. We had to wait 50 minutes for seating and couldn't figure out why since we were flexible with indoor/outdoor and very few tables were being used outside. We were a large group of 7 but still saw so many tables ready outside. Even considering social distancing. Didn't feel like the food warranted the wait. Our daughter in law ordered a hamburger well done and it was almost cold in the center. She was so hungry by the time we ate that she muscled through rather than sending it back and for that price they really should have gotten a simple hamburger order right. Service was fine. We felt it was overpriced and not worth the wait.

Service here was wonderful! Our waitress was super sweet and tentative. The drinks were great, I got the fish bowl and a vodka lemonade. They were pretty decent size for the amount paid. The food here was sub par. The French fries were honestly the best part. My wife and I ordered the crab stuffed flounder which wasn’t bad but it wasn’t some of the best fish we’ve had. The calamari was good as well not too oily and well fried.

I'm used to perfect sous vide and torch seared steaks, so I was apprehensive about ordering the ribeye. It was a perfect medium rare with a good char and rendered fat to it. Just a bit of sweetness from the honey in the marinade. Service was great for our party of 14, with the food and drinks steadily chugging back and forth. The setting is beautiful on the back bay if you need to wait for a table.

The oysters rock and tuna bite appetizers were both very bland and came out room temp. We were pretty disappointed in the appetizers, and the Surf n Turf wasn't impressive, but the Mahi Imperial entree was absolutely wonderful. Both entrees came out hot and we had no complaints there. Heard good things about this place and I really wanted to try it. The place was warm, it seemed the AC did not work well that day, wait time was not bad 15 min for a table for two around 7sh. The waiters was very nice and she knew she was doing. Ordered a she crab soup, pound of crab legs and water. It was absolutely amazing and I have craved it since leaving Virginia. Our server was a you guy but very attentive to our needs for refills and what not. Crab crusted salmon left alit to be desired, salmon was apparently vacuum sealed and frozen because it cut more like a steak then flake like a good salmon filet. Charge of $39 for Filet was absolutely overpriced and $15 for 3-4 ounce libster tail that was sent back due to not being thoroughly cooked wS extreme. Don't think we will go back.

I would give 10 stars if I could! It’s always a great time here. They have lots of family activities and adult only activities. There is something for everyone. The food is fresh never frozen or refrigerated and everything is cooked when ordered. The view right on the water is awesome. You can drive up, or pull up to their boat ramp. The staff is very friendly and always smiling. Yes they occasionally have a dirty table. Dahhh it’s a restaurant and they stay extremely busy all the time. You can dine in side or out side on the deck. This an awesome place.

UPD: so my apologies, as was pointed out below, i was not charged for the undercooked wings- thats a bit uplifting, however would not make up to the described experience in general. *** We made a 30 min trip from the beach with high expectations about this place but were left disappointed. Apparently for lunch they have no fresh seafood. The brunch menu doesnt seem appealing, sandwiches i can have literally in any place by the beach no need to go that far. Burger was oversalted and well done when ordered medium, wings undercooked. Returned the wings but still was charged for them. Service was average, had a better experience. Hopefully their dinner situation is better but i have no intent in finding that out.

Driving from Fl and ended up eating the best lunch of my life at Blue Pete's. a friend and I shared the steak covered in peppercorn & mushrooms cream sauce w 10k Mac & cheese and the freshest house salad. I would be a regular if I didn't live 4 states away. The staff was friendly and you can't beat how gorgeous this place is inside and out. The glass wall looking over the docks and water made me wanna live here. We also had the house wings which perfect cooked perfectly, & the coconut shrimp w the raspberry dipping sauce (i was hesitant on the sauce but once I tried it wow so delicious! ) A friend had the brisket dip sandwich, she said it was the BEST brisket she has ever had. If youre within driving distance GO UR STOMACH A FAVOR & EAT HERE! side note Jordan our server was so polite answering questions & telling us about the owners/restaurant's story.

I have dined at Blue Pete's off and on for 30+ years, but recently made it back to experience the new ownership. The twin brothers who own the place now are a MAJOR improvement over the previous guy--who ran the restaurant well, but seemed to be tired of it. The menu is diverse and the food is well prepared. Portions are generous and plated more in a family style. One of the best parts are the decks over the water, though some attention really needs to be paid to maintenance and repair of some of the older decks and the building in general. Still a great bet for dinner, well worth the drive from the oceanfront for tourists, though I suspect that the majority of the patrons are locals.

The 1st time we ate at Blu Petes we drove from VA beach after dark in a rain storm. It felt like we were driving through the bayou. We were amazed wen we came during the day. The food has always been delicious as has the service. We usually come to VA beach in the Spring and while busy, there has never been a wait. We recently showed up at 5:30 and there was already a 40 minute wait. We were there with our daughter's family including a 2 and a 4 year old. We waited in the new outdoor bar area and walked around the docks, looking at the fish. The wait was over before we knew it. The grandchildren ate from their kids meals for 2 more meals at home. The rest of our food was great as well, including my favorite, the Mango Maji. We highly recommend Blue Petes and always come when we're in Va Beach.

The food was good here, for sure! It is definitely one of those good restaurants to find off the beaten path. The only issue we had with the place was that it was a bit uncomfortable as far as temperature inside the restaurant...granted, we did stop in here in the middle of July...this place does not seem to have adequate air conditioning and this made things a bit stuffy in the dining area. There was a portable A/C unit in the area we were sitting in but it wasn't pumping out enough to keep things cool throughout. This restaurant is certainly very popular though!

BEAUTIFUL location! There is a deck that wraps around the building with lots of pretty spots that have been thoughtfully designed. Little turtles in the water are fun to watch too! I don't eat seafood, BUT the chicken was delicious on yummy (not jared!) Alfredo sauce. We had a vegetarian friend who also found a greek salad that she liked, so there's definitely something for the non-seafood lovers out there. Fun drink menu too!

Best seafood restaurant I've ever been to. They bring you sweet potato rolls that are wonderful! We started with the blackened tuna bites cooked to perfection, med rare. I had a cup of their she crab soup, I should have gotten a bowl! For my entree I got the crab stuffed flounder covered in she crab soup. It was amazing! This is a good authentic fresh seafood restaurant. But at times it seems like they focus more on the bar than the restaurant. The service was sluggish to begin with but once we did get a server the service was good. The price seems a little high for what you get but that didn't scare us away. The dishes were good the shrimp was fresh the crab soup was excellent. The location is really neat located on the creek with lots of wildlife to watch. A nice local seafood restaurant that is a refreshing get away from the bustling boardwalk of Virginia Beach

The atmosphere was really nice, being by the water and dining out on the patio was great. However, when we came to pay for the buffet with our group the buffet wasn't very big. There was basically crab, corn, and biscuits. The mixed cocktail they offered were great but the food was alright and expensive! I do not recommend coming on a Saturday night with a large group because they also hold weddings near the water and the group attending there at the time grew pretty big and the larking lot was getting packed. Not to hold it against Pete's but the vendor who worked the sound for said event was incredibly rude to my husband and kids while they played corn hole even though they were at least 20 feet away from his equipment and had never made any attempt to even go towards the area.

Pricey, but great "down home" atmosphere. Great selection and daily specials. Wednesday is Taco night, with beef tacos are $1. "Specialty" tacos are a slight upgrade at $3. Wait staff is typically great. Biggest concern is that the floor near the bar is angled downward (probably due to foundation issues) so the tables placed there have a very noticeable lean.

The out-in-the-boonies, on a waterway, "local-yocal" fun atmosphere paired with an extensive selection of gourmet food (including their own bakery chef!) and exceptional service make this among our top 3 go-to restaurants in the Norfolk/Chesapeake/VaBeach area. Edit/ Unfortunately I have to knock one star off for the New York strip steaks we were recently served. I couldn't believe my eyes when they handed us our steaks. Rather than the elongated, thick chunks of NY strip I'm used to seeing, out came these flattened/half inch thick fatty/gristly pieces if meat that seemed more like a breakfast steak than a dinner steak. The meat that *was* there was done just right and tasty...but for the price..hmm :/

I haven't been here in about 7 or 8 years and we went here on Father's Day weekend. Not the best time to do a review but...the food was good and it was definitely crowded. The air conditioning couldn't keep up and service was fair. But I would definitely go back on a non holiday. The view is definitely unique and cozy.

I can only rate this last experience as a bust. We got seated next to an open stage with large speakers blaring music. (With a baby) We asked them to turn it down which they did. First my appetizer order never came and neither did the drink I ordered. Once our group of 9 ordered the food came out in a good time, but the drinks were hardly filled afterwards. We had to go up to the bar to ask someone to send our waitress over, twice. We had gone here multiple times over the years, but this last time left a sour taste. We did address the issues with management and they did apologize.

The food is great. They have a good seafood selection and it is fresh seafood. Some of the tables and chairs are plastic outdoor lawn furniture style but that adds to the laidback atmosphere. The environment was fine, even though the back area.... isn't pleasant to look at. At all. The marlin with mango was amazing, and I am a really picky eater. My blackened tuna (ordered rare of course) was delicious and the blackened seasoning was perfect. My son's crab was perfectly boiled (not that it's hard to mess up crab) and they offer lemon, butter, and a type of salsa. The waiters and waitresses visited my table multiple times to check on us, had a pleasant demeanor, and promptly returned for refills, extra lemon, etc. Please do yourself a favor and go here.

I wish I had taken a picture while I was there. This place was a wonderful find. Very much off the beaten Trail kind of in the middle of nowhere. The decor is kind of like something you would see on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives and the food is wonderful. Prices are very reasonable and the staff couldn't be friendlier or more attentive. If you have the time to drive to Pungo this is a definite must.

The bomb complimented with the homemade Ranch dressing.....The views are stunning and the twins really do know the locals secret!!!!!!!

Family of 11 of us found Blue Pete's on Google restaurant search as we were staying in Sandbridge. This place was great! The staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly and beyond attentive. Not just our waiter, but we were even checked upon 2-3 times by others. The food was outstanding. From the seafood to the chicken parm, to the nachos there were zero complaints from anyone in our party, including the kids. We vacation in Sandbridge every year and we all agreed this will be our go to spot. Blue Pete's does not disappoint!

I visited here with a large group of sixteen. On a vert busy saturday night. The service, food and drink's were all exquisite. Our server Jordan was a very graces and did an excellent job catering to all of our needs. The tuna burrito and the baja sauce could not have been better. All the ingredients tasted very fresh. The tuna was cooked to perfection. I didn't get the shecrab soup myself. But one of the other people did and I must say after seeing the large chunks of lump crab in the bowl and hearing him rave about the amount of grab in every bite. I will be trying that and some of the other menu items. Because this visit to Blue Pete's will be my first of many. The ambiance and location would be awesome for a first date or just a romantic evening with that special person. The drinks however are great for a nightout with friends. I have only ever lived in the tidewater area and can not believe this was my first visit to this hidden gem. Blue Pete's you guys made a hell of a first impression and for that I will becoming to visit again very soon. Thanks for making a dinner with new friends great.

This is a hidden gem - like legit out in the bayou - in Virginia Beach/Back Bay that is so charming and delicious that I absolutely love it! I love to bring friends and family here and sit out on the back deck area overlooking the water. This spot has a gravel lot and it is tucked away on a two-lane road in the Back Bay area and sits along the water - in warmer months you can sit outside on the patio and be eaten alive by mosquitos (if you are me) so I tend to stay inside. I love their crab legs and the gals inside actually came to show me how to eat them properly bc they took pity on me once so now I am a pro master... they also have a delicious breaded shrimp appetizer with raspberry sauce for dipping and a huge, delicious tuna burrito. Friendly, hometown vibe with great service and super charming.

The place is kind of in the middle of nowhere. Kind of reminds you of a Chicks but more of a swamp theme. With that being said, the food and drinks were good. I had the chicken fingers and french fries and they definitely hit the spot. However, the one thing that was very strange was the taste of the water. I don't what was wrong with it that day or if it's always like that but it tasted like it came straight from a puddle or something. Yes, the water was clear but it definitely didn't taste right.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. It's like our little hidden gem away from crowds of tourists. The Peach Julep is my wife's favorite drink. The Calinachos are a signature dish, so bring an appetite, it's a heaping order of nachos and Calamari. It's a great place. I hope it never changes.

Went to Blue Pete's "Yappy Hour" today, and we loved it! They had water bowls and "Yappy meals" for the dogs. I got the fried shrimp and fries and it was great! They had a mimosa and bloody Mary bar for brunch that was wonderful! The staff and the owner were all extremely friendly and happy to help out! They're dog friendly always, but they have the specific "Yappy Hour" events the last Sunday of every month, out crew is wiped out!

A bowl of "thick&creamy" she-crab soup is a meal in itself ... small Greek salad is Golith ... crab cakes are excellent ... vegetable sides are hot ... worth your time and effort and money to find this personable and quaint restaurant. My wife had the Coconut Shrimp an a pound of Crab Legs. I had the Honey Teriaki Steak with Sauteed Squash and Onion Rings. I personally don't like seafood, however my wife love it. The steak I had was to die for, I sent my complements to the Chef. My wife sad it was the second best crab she has ever eaten, Monteray Seafood Company is still number 1. Reasonable price friendly fast service, great atmosphere. My wife enjoyed feeding the creek critters after the meal.

Everything is fantastic, the water views, the food and drinks and the owners are so friendly-always stopping by the table to check on you. In town for a week or two and met a local friend here for dinner on a Wednesday. I only have three words to describe Blue Petes: ALLYOUCANEAT TACO BAR! I stuffed my face with tacos all night for 10 bucks! The staff was very friendly and I very nice bearded fellow (Blue Pete?) came by and greeted us several times and thanked us for our patronage. I hope to be back at least one more time before I take off.

Overall, I would give Blue Pete's an above average rating based on the food selection, freshness, and taste of the entrees. The downside are the service and the soups. Entrees were from $18 - $27 with appetizers approximately $8. We arrived early for our 7:45 PM reservation. The restaurant is large and situated on a lake, very scenic. (As noted in another review, the nondescript building does have a gravel parking lot with not much curb appeal, but the view from the dining area is over the lake.) There were plenty of empty tables, but staffing was such that we needed to wait at the bar until our waitress was free enough to wait on us (she was also the bar tender). Everyone was friendly, though seemingly in a panic over the number of guests. This was disconcerting because only half of the restaurant was set up for service, which meant that there were only about 15 tables total. During our wait we ordered a bottle of wine based on a recommendation from a waiter. He was spot on with the recommendation, and we had a nice glass of wine while we waited. Once seated, we were brought fresh bread and a strawberry butter spread. Both were very good. We were missing bread plates, but this was minor. The menu included rockfish, flounder, tuna, and salmon cooked several different ways. Fresh fish was on display in a case by the door and is featured throughout the menu. There are also steaks, veal, and some interesting southern options like frog legs and fried green tomatoes. Our first course included she-crab soup and french onion soup. The French onion was average, and the she-crab was inedible due to the amount of salt. We informed the staff, who shrugged and said, "Oh well." (Our initial waitress seemed to have been pulled away, and we were now being serviced by the water girl.) We insisted that she tell the chef, and she said she would and left, leaving the soup. Nothing was ever done to correct the inedible soup and it still appeared on our bill at the end of the evening. Service was generally slow, and we were starting to feel we had made a big mistake coming to Blue Pete's, until the entrees arrived. The fish was cooked well and had a great flavor. My fish was served with smoked Gouda potatoes (fantastic!) and a vegetable medley (good). Everyone in my party ate every last bite. The entrees were well worth the wait. One other note was that the dining room is part of the bar area. In addition to being nosy, the bar has a large TV, which was tuned to a show featuring padded contestants navigating an obstacle course. While the volume wasn't on, it took away from the fine dining experience. All-in-all, I will probably go back to see if they get it right next time. The entrees were good enough to deserve a second try. If Blue Pete's can't get its service straight though, my second trip will most likely be my last.
