Don’t skip Zudar’s. The daily happy hour (4-7p.m.) is reason enough to stop in but don’t leave before you’ve had dinner as well. The happy hour boasts $1 cold water oysters and double tall cocktails. The oysters are always on point and if you’re a horseradish fan, buckle up, the atomic horseradish is next level. After you’ve settled in with your cocktail and oysters served up with a 90s alternative music ambiance you’ll want to ask about the soup and quiche of the day. I don’t venture too far from these made from scratch delights but if you’re looking for sandwiches or main courses you can’t go wrong at Zudar’s. The Baja wrap and Blue Ribbon Mac & Cheese top the list of favorites.

Food was good and our service was nice. We ordered a dozen $1 oysters, crawfish bread, oyster po-boy and shrimp po-boy. The shrimp on the po-boy were huge!

Enjoyed the happy hour experience here - the $1 oysters were good quality and chilled well. The double-pour spirit special and discount on wine and beer was worth it as well. We decided to also try some of the other food options to share, like the Cajun fish dip and seafood etouffee, all which were pleasantly seasoned and generously portioned well for our table. Outdoor seating was actually pretty quiet and enjoyable (and dog friendly) and parking for the restaurant was very helpful too.

What fantastic oysters from CT and such a good locals place. Great cuban and fish dishes as well! There was a beer "Tee Time" in rotation that was an awesome beer inspired by an arnold palmer drink.

I got the Cali burger and it was perfect the fries were nice and crispy the burger was a nice medium rare and our server Dann was nice and willing to assist us when we needed it. Will definitely return in the future.

Local bar & grill. Stopped in while killing time before grandson's basketball tournament at Bob Martinez center at UT. Love the local vibe. Just had a couple of drinks and some oyster appetizers which were excellent.

Best kept little secret around! Lots of TVs and college games and so convenient Hyde Park and DI and Channelside and UT. Why drive and fight traffic? Welcoming and yes. Good sustenance.

Overall good experience. Oysters were on the small side but the flavor was on point. The Etouffee was okay, not enough gravy for the amount of rice, the grilled veggies on the side were a nice addition. Will def go back for dollar oysters and a poboy..

We stopped in to eat when a sudden storm popped up, and immediately it felt like we entered the kind of place where locals hang out. Our party was quickly seated and a server quickly appeared and took orders. Even though it was not by any means crowded, we all felt a little rushed at first. Fortunately, the food was really good. The taste was fresh and everything was appropriately seasoned -- it just looked delightful on the plate. There's a dessert case with yummy looking cakes, but since our tickets were prepared and pointed out to us before we even had our entrees, we didn't order anything else as we didn't want to make the server have to go back and reprint the tickets. If you're wanting to go hang out somewhere to eat, drink, and watch a game, this is your place. It's a little off the crowded path closer to the convention center, but it isn't so far that you can't easily walk it.

Ashli’s bubbly personality welcomed me when I walked in the door. She described the menu very well, including the great pies. I ate the farmer’s frittata. Really enjoyed the mushrooms as they really provided great flavor. Craft beer and liquor available; bottomless mimosas on the weekends, so I will check that out at a later date. Finally, Zudar’s provides a great location as it’s close to Bayshore and next to a Publix.

Zudar's on Platt really went above and beyond my expectations when I celebrated my birthday there this month. They were able to accommodate my party of 40+ people and even prepared a special menu for my guests who needed some additional vegan and gluten-free options. Eric made the planning very easy and had we all had a great time. Service was on point and I really enjoyed the Asian vegetable stir-fry plate on the special menu. I'll will definitely be returning here in the future to have some more great times with friends. Thanks for some good memories!

I stopped in for $1 oysters which were decent, and ordered a few other items (chicken fingers, gumbo, and wings). The shareable chicken fingers were priced at $12.99, and there were literally THREE total chicken fingers. It came with fries, but I wasn’t expecting only 3 chicken fingers. The wings were ok, but a little salty. Gumbo was underwhelming. The service was good and staff was very friendly.

Great food!! My man got the T-Rex burger and I got the mac and cheese. Compliments to the chef for both. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the fries were well seasoned and the mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy. The prices were reasonable and the staff was very friendly. It is definitely the kind of place you can relax, enjoy a meal or a drink and unwind.

Best burger I have been able to find anywhere. The owner provides a fresh angus burger and it’s the only burger I want to eat. The baked good look amazing however they are just not their in flavor sadly as they look amazing. The chocolate cake is good but more of a brownie, key lime sadly the crust is too thin and not quit the best flavor but a three star for sure and the carrot cake I was actually disappointed as it was way under seasoned and didn’t have what I thought was going to be fresh carrots or they were over purveyed maybe...great location and atmosphere too and all of the staff are really great...also it is clean.

Went with my SO, we had a great time. Sandwiches are perfect, sides too. The owner makes everything (almost) from scratch and you can definitely taste it. Not too pricey at all. Plus, they have a great yoga and wine event (plus many others). Overall great restaurant and fun hangout, definitely coming back!

It is a pretty cool place. Came here for breakfast. Place was busy and only 2 waitresses working. They did a great job keeping up with thier customers. Great costumer service. They were working tables and bartending. Service was great. The Burger I had was pretty good. The fries not good. They were over cooked, crunchy and oily. French toast was ok. The carrot cake was very good and the chocolate cake was as well. Prices were ok. Don't think I would return.

My favorite place!!! Eric and his staff are awesome!! Great atmosphere!! The entire menu is amazing, but I highly recommend the Cajun Gumbo, the wings, or any of the specialty sandwiches!! 5 stars all of the way!!

Been awhile since I've been in, but have always enjoyed Zudar's. Their Hungarian Beef & Cabbage soup is soooo good. When my sister visits Tampa without her husband she has to take a quart home to him in TN. Their desserts are excellent. My favorites...Caramel Flan, Mississippi Mud Brownie(it's gigantic...takes me several days to eat it and the fudge frosting is like eating chocolate fudge), and the Coconut Cream pie. Service is usually good.

I had the pulled pork and burnt ends with coleslaw and pit beans. The meat was super flavorful, and tasted great on its own. The sauce, however, took it to a whole new level! The slaw was perfect, and the beans were amazing as well. All in all I could not have asked for a better meal!

Cajun black and bleu burger was acceptable. Small but adequate beer selection to cover a few different tastes. Actually overheard the owner debating which they should keep and change with workers so it's not just a haphazard selection but rather thoughtful. Food came out fast, hot, and as ordered. Service was excellent and was always ready to assist. Atmosphere was typical bar fair but worth checking out nonetheless.

Absolutely amazing !!! I’ve been coming here for the past 5 years always getting my BLT with the Blue Ribbon Mac N’ Cheese, and it’s always been a delight The owner is so nice, and the food always comes out perfectly. It’s right next to Publix, so I usually go shopping and then treat myself to a nice sandwich afterwards. This is definitely a hidden gem in Tampa, and I’ll always recommend it to anyone, they really make you feel at home there.

Used Zudar's for my wedding rehearsal dinner and Eric made it so simple and easy. We talked about the menu before hand and everything went exactly how he said. The food was on time, hot and everyone loved it. There was a slight change in plans at the end and he made it work flawlessly. Great service and experience.

My 17 month old son and I stumbled across this place while exploring Tampa. The hostess/waitress was friendly and helped us find a quiet table in the back. She also filled my son's bottle with whole milk, brought him a specially made bowl of berries (his favorite) and a big pancake with syrup. I ordered the The big BLT on Cuban bread which was amazing. Great place, great food, and they were super attentive to my son.

The food was ok but the service was agonizingly slow. They were shorthanded which I could understand but when we were 25 min into being ignored at our table I was finally able to stop a waitress who had continually walked by us if she could help. She told us it was not her table.....yay team! We have way to many choices in Tampa.

Love this place! A staple South Tampa restaurant. They now have a bar and patio seating. My husband gets the Meltdown every time we go. I usually order a Cobb salad and then take the leftovers home for dinner (its that big!).

Eric and his crew do an AMAZING job of great food, outstanding hospitality, remarkable customer service and a welcome home feel! This is the 3rd time I've attempted to write this review so it should be clear how much i enjoyed my experience & food at Zudar's. Clean & spacious at 1st glance. As I was dining by myself, I found a spot at the bar. I was quickly greeted by Kaley with a smile & menu. I asked about the draft beers available & she even let me try a sample (delicious IPA free dive) Again i asked about a favorite menu item & she guided me towards the Smoked Turkey Special sandwich (delicious & enough to take half my sandwich for a treat later) The menu has so many choices of breads, meats, cheeses, salads & side dishes, vegan & keto options, homemade soups & desserts... It's the comfort food & environment I truly needed that day . My father has had an extended stay at Tampa General with lots of bad news & sad moments. After a long walk to escape such a sad & cold environment (the hospital temperature--all the nurses & staff are expectional & warm) I thought I would pop into publix for a sub (ZUDAR'S is located directly behind publix) I happily discovered this locals & hospital staff favorite casual spot. Please stop in & try this family run restaurant with great tasting food for a reasonable price. Zudars has heart ❤ and to me, that is priceless. Thank you to Kaley & I wish you all the best in your future & to the owner who took his time to come by & make my experience one I'll never forget

I've been here several times for lunch over the past 3+ years & each time I enjoyed myself. Recently I took a dear friend there for a birthday celebration & she left with such a positive experience that she plans to bring her sister there in the near future. Comments were made during that lunch of where Zudar's was compared to many of the downtown eateries (quality & pricing) & that they excelled. Zudar's being just off the core of downtown I offered it to the birthday girl to show her why I liked it so much. It is not as loud as many of the downtown locations, it has better parking, better pricing, better service, more casual atmosphere. I am thrilled she enjoyed it & now 1 more person has been turned on to Zudar's, & when she brings her sister then it will undoubtedly add 1 more. That is truly how a business grows by word of mouth.

I work in south Tampa, and I've been to Zudar's three times for lunch. I've had their Reuben, Cuban, and the "Key West Sampler" basket -- fried shrimp, fish nuggets and a crab cake. Today I took my wife there for lunch and she raved about her burger. I think I've found another "go to" place for a quick lunch. Service is friendly, food is tasty, ingredients seem to be high quality, and I leave full. The price is what I'd expect in south Tampa.

Zudars was a unexpected find. We were in downtown Tampa early and wanted breakfast. Not many choices with in walking distance. Found Zudars on Yelp and decided to try it. Great selection of breakfast items served on the weekend till 3. Friendly waitress who was happy to serve us and did so promptly. Food was cooked to perfection and tasted great. If you are in downtown Tampa near the Convention Center take a short walk across the Platt Street bridge just past Publix on the right and you won't regret it.

Zudar's is another Tampa staple and has been through a few iterations. In it's current form it has less of it's former deli menu and is more of sandwich shop fare. I had the Yankee (Rye bread, turkey breast, swiss cheese, cole slaw, 1000 island, deli mustard. $9.99). The sandwich has a generous portion of turkey and the rye bread is perfectly pressed. The flavor, on the other hand, is nothing remarkable. The turkey is standard issue deli meat without much flavor but a lot of salt. French fries are nicely browned and rate in the mediocre range. Good prices and service make it worth a visit.

Bacon brownies. The sign had intrigued me and mocked me for two years and every time I went to Publix to do some light grocery shopping. No. I don’t cook. You already know that. But I craft and serve incredible alcoholic libations. Isn’t a Bloody Mary a meal on its own? Couldn’t a cucumber gimlet adorned with basil and a sliced cucumber act as a liquid salad? If I only drink those… am I juicing? The sign bothered me. The deli says absolutely nothing in that corner. It is not ugly enough or pretty enough… it is just blah and there. Since I am observing the strictly-no-eating –out-a-lot counsel of my irrational accountant post tax day, I had to grocery shop. He had also advised me to never go grocery shopping while I am hungry. What is a girl to do? I was starving as I held my ecologically caring reusable grocery bags. As my platform heel stepped out of Aurora (Yes, I named my car), a Shakespearean existential question was asked: To eat or not to eat… To eat. Imagine all the money I was saving by not going into Publix famished and depressed. I would have paid for cases of twinkies. I would have bought and carried out ho-ho’s (no pun intended. My friends were not with me). I might have kidnapped Sara Lee, Aunt Jemima and Ben and Jerry. No bueno! I casually crossed the street and entered Zudar’s. The insignificant outside is misleading. The place was packed. There was one table of two left untouched and ready for me right at the front door. Was this the deli version of Ciro’s Speakeasy? It was two o’clock and the place was a convention center for the hungry businessmen. Servers were running around taking orders, delivering food, answering phones and handing out bills. I tried to coyly reach the table in anonymity. It was not to happen. A table of six men (eating half sandwiches and a side of salad) turned and smiled. Up and down and up and down their eyes went. Had they confused me with Angelina Jolie? Maybe. I was having a really good hair day. I might have been pouting even. I knew the fascination with me would end the minute I ordered my food. The green-eyed foodie was with me so we ordered a mixed Reuben (corned beef hash and roast beef), a chicken parmesan sandwich, a side order of mac and cheese (because one can never have tried it enough. I want to be like a barista of the stuff. A macancheeserista.) We had promised to try the bacon brownies somehow too. Even when Zudar’s was filled with costumers, the service pulled through. Those tables were turning fast. Within ten minutes we were eating our sandwiches and harassing one another picking out food from the other’s plate. Great sandwiches. Huge. Wonderful value. The mac and cheese proved to be a slightly better version of the powdered Kraft one. Even the macaroni itself was a twin brother of the Kraft kind. Disillusioned. I asked for the brownies to go. It turned out that there was also one kind made with peanut butter and bacon. So we did order enough to sample them. I can’t say if the experience of them while in the deli would have been any different. They were given to me individually wrapped in plastic wrap and they seemed cold and fudgey rather than brownish. Dense is an understatement. One tiny corner and the explosion of flavors left you baffled. The chocolate dissolves and you are left with serious bits of bacon and bacon fat slathered on the roof of your mouth. I believe these brownies are like one of those love or hate relationships. No matter how you look at them, when it is over you are bound to have a memorable aftertaste.
