The food is great at Tokyo but it’s the people that own and work there that makes it our favorite. I’ve been bringing my daughter here since she was just a baby, she’s now 11. They treat her like royalty. Yang and everyone at Tokyo are truly nice people. This is the kind of place you want to spend your money.

If they renovated this place it would be great. The menu is huge, the food is good, portions are huge and the prices can't be beat. The sign out front is ripped. The seats are old and tattered. The restaurant is basically setup for Uber Eats and there's tons of deliveries going out constantly. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The wait staff is friendly and fast. Placed a take out order that ended up in eating in. The place had quite reduced capacity inside, nonetheless the food was pretty decent and well portioned, definitely tasty and freshly made. Not sure if the same ownership since then but I had visited back in 2004.

Just ordered from Grubhub and it’s phenomenal! One of the best egg rolls I’ve had. I also called ahead and requested extra soy and duck sauce and they were more then accommodating. Best option around by far!

Great fresh and hot Japanese food. The Mongolian beef lunch was perfect. They have sake and beer. Very nice menu selection. Currently, you may sit at the covered outdoor patio or take out. This place is next door to a wing place. I've always wanted to try it and am so very happy I did today. A very generous lunch portion that included a side and a soup. Delicious and great prices. I will definitely come here again.

This place has delicious food, Japanese rice, they could serve a little more rice because I find that every time I order a meal I am left with lots of meat but wanting more rice. Food is fresh and been around for more than 23 years, I know because I lived in Tampa for more than 20 years and this place has always been delicious and not expensive.

Staying @ The Grand Hyatt, we ordered delivery here twice this week. They are punctual & accurate. (Order perfect) The spicy chicken fried rice is delicious. Huge portions ( Two shared a large with leftovers) Spicy tuna roll is so so good! Better than most I’ve tried in Nashville. Lots of tuna. Delish!! The delivery service is great.

can't even begin to tell you how amazing this place is! not only am I very picky when it comes to Sushi I like mine fresh and made-to-order and Tokyo Japanese Restaurant did not disappoint! I was greeted with a warm atmosphere the customers were literally the best I have ever encountered our servers name was Lee and he was funny and whimsical and professional and literally made our vacation the best night we had! our food was absolutely delicious and Maid to Perfection and the price was absolutely reasonable! this is exactly the place I like to be and find when I take vacations definitely a place you must stop if you come anywhere near Tampa it is well worth the drive

It is a small place inside but it has an outdoor terrace that people could use. The sushi rolls that I ordered were really good. I will go back again. I ordered the yellow tail roll and salmon roll not in the picture. The yellow tail roll is small. Each roll I got was cut into 8 pieces.

The prices are reasonable and the service is fast. I normally visit for lunch. My favorite dish is general tso's chicken. The lunch special comes with a drink and is enough for 2 meals.

Been getting takeout here for years and always been more than satisfied but what really stuck out to me was this past experience when I ordered some food from here on Uber eats and the delivery driver didn’t check in with the app making it seem like he was at the restaurant waiting on my food. So I called the restaurant asking where my food was and turns out he left with my food long before I called. I did end up getting my food like an hour later but what was awesome was that the manager text my phone personally and made sure I got my food. This meant so much to me for some reason. It’s the little things! Great food and great staff!

I've eaten quite a few times from this place, their food is always delicious, we like the Egg foo young, Bourbon Chicken, Chicken lo mein and their sushi is also really delicious. I give it 5 stars because they've never disappointed us.

My family and I absolutely love Tokyo on Hillsborough, we must oder from this place 5 times a month. They have a bit of everything from Japanese sushi to good ole Chinese general TSO chicken. Each time we order via the app, the manager calls to make sure our order is going to the right house since we tend to order from here even when we are visiting friends. We love it!

Alrighty let me give you a basic run down of this place. Honestly, I thought that it was going to be an awful experience at first. However was brought to quickly realize how excellent the costumer service is, the staff are really nice and actually respect you for buying their food! I will now say the the food here is TOP-NOTCH, the sushi here is the best I've had in YEARS!! Eating in here is an easy 5/5!

I give 4.9 stars - not for the service, but I have received 2 orders that were not up to par (one eggroll fried so long that I think the cabbage melted, and a low mein ordered with mushrooms and onions, but came with everything). I want to add that they did fix and/or accomodate for the next order. I found them when I moved to this part of Tampa. Glad I did. I don't know the guys name that answers the phone, but no one else should EVER be allowed to answer but him. At Christmas: HoHoHo Tokyo Anywho...I've had a little of everything from traditional Chine to Sushi to the Japanese. Everything has been outstanding...the best part is they make it exactly how you want. This is based off delivery as we have not gone to eat inside. If you're in the area, give them a whirl, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Ordered the Seafood Udon soup and it was delicious. I had tried it for the first time in Hawaii and fell in love with udon. I tried looking for Udon several times with no luck. This was very close to the one I had in Hawaii. Will definitely be ordering again.

They keep COVID safety standards when you do take out and have separate stations for signing/ paying. the food is always delicious and filling. one order can be split into 2 meals! Fast, hot, delicious, and a great price! You absolutely can't do better. Every time we've ordered from Tokyo Tampa, our food has literally been here in 15 minutes flat (and they're a 10 minute drive away so that's insanely impressive). It's always hot, always correct, always absolutely DELICIOUS, and it will get to you at the speed of light. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Im from bronx ny and all the Chinese I’ve eaten in tampa is horrible. I came by this place when i was at wing house and by far theee best Chinese n closest to the Chinese i get back home. Staff is amazing and friendly. Sushi is also good. Restaurant is also super clean!

What this place lacks in atmosphere they more than make up for with their food. The Chinese food is great. The Japanese food is also great. One of the best sushi places I've been to in Tampa. But if you're looking for a cool place to take your trendy friends forget it, this is not the place. It looks like a dump and the service is worthy of a dump, but the food is GREAT, and the portions are huge. Either order to go or have them deliver. Their delivery drivers are freakishly fast. I've never had an order take as long as they say, usually it's half the time! I keep going back because the food is good, and if you complain usually the manager is responsive.

This has been my favorite Chinese restaurant since 2010. When I worked at DriveTime we would order 2-3 times a week (their portions are super generous and would last me 2 days for lunch). When we finally moved to the neighborhood in 2015 I was so excited. Throughout the years I have changed my regular order multiple times. My current fave is the bourbon chicken meal(under special combinations on their menu @ tampatokyo.com ) I get it with fried rice no veggies in rice, and only peppers and carrots light sauce in the meat. Well tonight I ordered and forgot to put the special instruction for the chicken (I was distracted). They called me and were like you typically get only carrots and peppers in the chicken we just wanted to make sure you were okay with the onions and mushrooms this time. I have never experienced that kind of customer service anywhere else. Of course I thanked them thoroughly for catching my error. They are always super kind and friendly and the food is DELICIOUS!

Usually this restaurant is excellent but today's order was subpar. Food was delivered quickly and efficiently but it was not of the quality usually received here. The Moo Goo Gai Pan had mostly rice and some of the vegetables seemed to be old. Hopefully, it will return to its five star food.

For starters, let me just say, they will tell you it's going to be about 30 - 45min for delivery, I kid you not, the food is hot and ready in 10! I also love how friendly their drivers are! Anyway, let's get to the food! We all know how popular Chinese food is! You can find a spot practically anywhere! What I will say is, it's hard to find a "good" local restuarant. When I say "good", I mean one that is convenient, affordable, and obviously delicious! Tokyo... Is.... AMAZING! They offer an insane amount of options, and I've had pretty much everything you could buy, and it's always on point. Their Udon Noodles are my personal favorite, coupled with an egg roll and pork fried rice. Portions are enough to have left overs, and the only expensive items are their more premium choices like rolls and sea food. You have fast and friendly delivery, so many choices, and it's delicious for the price you pay. I'm so glad I have found this restuarant! Keep on killin' it Tokyo!

I found my new favorite local restaurant. Forget the amazing food, competitive prices and atmosphere of the restaurant; it's the people here that make this place amazing. I had a long conversation with the waiter about the restaurant, the family that owns it, and how much quality and customer satisfaction means to them. I really felt like they wanted to make it the most enjoyable dining experience... And they succeeded. I will try not to come here EVERY time I don't want to cook.... But I can't guarantee anything. HIGHLY recommended for anyone wanting quality food with a great experience. My ONLY harp on the menu would be the crab rangoons weren't in the same category of quality-to-price. I'd recommend the General Tso's (spicy) and the hot and sour soup. The sushi is fantastic as well!

I discovered this place when my truck broke down in their driveway. The staff came out and helped me push it out of the way. During my wait for a tow truck the staff brought me ice cold bottles of water, food and continually checked on me. Due to their unexpected kindness I stopped by the next day for some Chinese and sushi. The food was just as awesome as the staff. I have been here several times in the past for special occasions, and it has been a fantastic experience every single time. The food is well priced, the flavors are varied and unique, and the staff is fantastic. They've been here since 1999, and I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon. Ask for Icy and you'll get amazing service every single time! EDIT: Still going here two years later and it's just as fantastic as its always been! The prices are so fair, don't miss the two roll special!

A little more expensive than I was hoping for, In part because they charged for extra cream cheese in a couple rolls that we didn't ask for it, which then had way too much creme cheese. I did spot the guy in front of me put the pen he used back in the clean cup even though he clearly saw that there were 2 and they were labeled. The food is great. Never had any issues with "bad food". The restaurant staff and delivery guys have always been very friendly and accommodating. I've lost track of how many times we've ordered from them, but I do know out of all of those times only once was an item missing from an order. But, mistakes happen and without hesitation and much apologies it was resolved to my satisfaction. Between the great food, great service, and reasonable prices you can't go wrong.

LOVE this place! It's my favorite place to eat in Tampa! Every time I'm in town, I make it a point to visit for their sushi. Their sushi is fresh and delicious... some of the best I've had on the east coast. The portions are huge, and it's also very affordable... a huge boat of sushi for under $40... can't beat that. On top of the fantastic food, the service is phenomenal. Every time we go, the staff has been so welcoming and friendly. Even if the food were only so-so, I'd still go there to see my favorite waitress. She's the absolute best.

Tokyo has consistently great sushi and an excellent variety. Always super fast service and the owners are not only really nice, but they're local, so they care about keeping their customers happy. I was really sad I couldn't have sushi while I was pregnant, so I asked my family to bring me Tokyo sushi for my first meal after having the baby while still in the hospital :) Yes... it's that good!

I haven't been there in a few years since the problem I had with an order we had delivered we use to order about once or twice a week at $50 min. We had a bunch of food delivered and we called back to to them that they forgot the white rice that comes with the dinner the american guy well he was acting like I wanted to steal $.050 worth of rice which I can make jasmine rice at home it got heated needless to say. So yes I refused to order from them again its been almost 5 years only reason I ordered is because my brother wanted to give them another shot,they are good no doubt but to lose a customer over just rice really,I'm a cook and I will please the customer all the time that's why they come back to our place.

I've never been in the restaurant but order delivery quite a bit from here and it's always amazing!! I'm a bit of a sushi snob and I was soo surprised when I ordered the first time at how good the sushi was! Shrimp fried rice was amazing too! It's a great way to get your sushi fix without having to leave your house! I love that they deliver! Having the food be top notch is a bonus!

Best place to eat cheap high quality sushi. They have a two and three roll special available all day, every day, not just lunch like most places. An added bonus is the Chinese menu for non-sushi eaters. I have been eating here for over 10 years and it is consistently fast, fresh and friendly.

I have eaten here 15 or 20 times and have never had a bad experience. The rolls are always fresh and made fairly quickly, even when ordering the party boat, best sushi for under 40 bucks. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys sushi, and if sushi is not your thing, the cooked food is awesome.

the place isn't that attractive, but best chines and Japanese food I've tried in some time. love the udon soups, and sushi rolls. excellent place for dine in or take out. they don't over charge you for great food. been going here for over 10 years the food only gets better. took my family there with 11 people in the party had an incredible meal. will do it again. I've even had their wings and they're great. Sushi is pretty good as well. My go-to place when I don't feel like cooking and tired of pizza!

This crew has it down. Everything is excellent. The miso, nigiri, edamame (not that it's the hardest to get right), etc. Young soy bean, good with beer. Patio seating only, but on a big comfortable patio. Went there on our wedding weekend and will probably stop any time we're in Tampa. 🙌

Not your typical sushi joint. They also have a full Chinese menu. I came for lunch for sushi. Was met with a smiling face woman. Ordered two separate rolls and I requested a spicy pepper in one if they had it and she made it happen. And both rolls were fantastic. There was much more on the menu I wanted to try so I may be back. They do have lunch specials....and beer. And a really rad fish tank.

It's not always easy for a restaurant to do both Japanese and Chinese food well. This place does a great job with both Chinese Classics and their Sushi is great. I usually get delivery and the hot food arrives hot and that's who she arrives nice and cold. This is now the only place I ordered both Sushi and Chinese food from.

I've ordered 5 times before from this place and it's always been very good, tonight's however left me with a sour taste in my mouth, literally. I had order my meal with a couple of sides, one being the beef on stick, when I took a bite it tasted very sour, unlike what I am used to. The rest of the food was excellent, so the sour meat came as a surprise and disappointment. I went here with my best friend for my birthday. The menu was huge, and the pan-fried udon isn't something I've ever seen before but it's absolutely delicious. Also, I've been to the best Japanese restaurants in Florida, and this place has the greatest inari sushi I've ever eaten. The sake don was beautifully arranged as well, and my friend enjoyed it thoroughly. After dinner, we had tempura cheesecake, and I can say that I'll be returning just for that again! It was really delicious. My friend isn't much of a dessert person but he nearly fought me for it. We got a lot of food for less than $50, the wait staff was really sweet and enthusiastic, and our food came out super fast. Definitely a five-star experience.

I have been ordering from Tampa Tokyo for over 3 years now at least once a month when I can (and sometimes more than that!). Their service is always very quick and the food is always hot and delicious and of great quality. Whether I am in the mood for sushi one night, or a delicious chinese combination plate with dumplings or crab rangoon, it's always great. This used to be one of my favorite places, having even attended their grand opening. I frequented Tokyo for both delivery and dine in for 6 to 7 years. Over time, the sushi rolls have become more expensive and the roll sizes have diminished to the point where it became too expensive to order from them anymore. James, the owner who bought the place from Cheri, is a very nice guy who cares about his regular customers; but he seems to have difficulty keeping the prices at a reasonable level while maintaining quality. The last time I ordered, it was $18 for 2 sushi rolls and a miso soup - (a dragon roll and a bagel roll, which could be purchased for equal quality elsewhere for half the price). Given the number of sushi restaurants vying for a place in the area, this is no doubt going to continue to lose him customers. If the roll sizes had stayed the same, the price would be just fine; but diminishing size AND increasing price lost him this long time customer. Given that the porch and building seem to have been remodeled at least 3 times in the last 10 years, it's evident they have the money to invest in their business - perhaps they should invest it in the food instead of the decor.

I eat here regularly I enjoy their food there sushi is amazing. I have a few issues. Once I walked in to pick up a order and they were chopping edamame (not sure if that is spelled correctly) on a dining room table in plain view of guest with nothing but the bare table under it they were eating right next to their process no one was wearing gloves and they were going back and forth to the phone/computer without washing their hands. I had stomach issues a few times and realized that the times I was sick I had ordered General Tso's chicken with lo mein noodles on all occasions. During the lunch special it's supposed to come with a drink but unless you specifically ask for the drink and state that it comes with one they will try and not include it. I will say delivery is super fast for any reastutaunt. The other day I ordered through a food delivery service and paid via Android pay and tipped with my card on the service the delivery driver gets to the door and tries to tell me I didn't pay did not have a reciept and then literally asked me for a tip and when I told the driver that I tipped you 10$ on my 30$ order (I worth as a bartender so I always tip well) he proceeded to tell me that I didn't and my order would be considered not paid unless I tipped him. I'm sorry but being in the service industry you NEVER ask for a tip either you get it or you don't. I felt like he was trying to scam me out of more money. It was by far the worst experience I had with a delivery driver and he sat outside my apt in his car for 15 minutes after he delivered my food. I still order from here sushi only. Im not a super complainer I just thought I would inform everyone of my experiences with them so you all can make a informed decision before ordering from here.

I've never dined in the restaurant, but have ordered delivery from Tokyo twice while in Tampa visiting friends. The delivery is super fast--both times we've gotten our food within 30 minutes! As for the food, it's fairly tasty...but nothing special. The Chicken Teriyaki appetizer is a nice little snack, but the chicken was a little dried out. I've also tried the Chicken with Broccoli, Curry Chicken, and General Tso's Chicken. All were okay and had very large portions. If you're someone who likes to eat "regular" portions, you can definitely have one main course for two meals. If I'm in Tampa and hungover again...I'll probably be ordering from Tokyo again.

One of the best sushi restaurants in Tampa. The Bagel Roll is a must try. Their miso soup and crab rangoons are equally delicious, and the best I've had in the Tampa Bay area. Customer service is fantastic, and since I moved to Tampa, it has been hard to find a place that wows me with how they treat their customers, and Tokyo has definitely won me over. Charge but that is simply a requirement to get delivery, the free is almost all given to the driver on their check for gas! Your min.
