My husband and I went for the happy hour specials. Sushi was yummy and our server Leah was very attentive and quick. Probably should have done the two for one house wines because the liquor drinks were a little pricey. I will definitely be back.

In short, they do a good job providing a sushi option that is diverse, delicious and casual. I have not been here in several years and noticed a definite improvement. While roll sizes have diminished, the flavors are still there. Love the Hamachi appetizer, they do a nice tempura app and offer a huge assortment of tasty rolls. Only miss thus far is the spider roll, it's one of my favorite items to order and Sushi Alive needs to go back to the drawing board on that one. Definitely reccommend this location.

Dinner is usually good with decent portions (as you see below). The wait staff is always very nice even if sometimes slow and unresponsive. (For example, let you sit there 10 minutes and then ask if you know the menu can be downloaded). However, I was not a fan of their lunch specials (not photographed) which was burned and skimpy portions compared to their dinners.

Honestly really good food for our first experience here on a Wednesday night. It wasn't busy and our service was good. Our server tried to joke around with us, which was nice! They put a type of carboard table runner - pretty sure it's to keep the tables clean of any mess? That was interesting. The California, Mexican and Veggie rolls are so good. Sauces on the side cost 50 cents extra, I believe, and they give a good amount filled to the top. The pho was great and filling. The chicken teriyaki plate was also very good - we got charged a bit extra to add sirloin, as well. We even ordered another veggie roll because it was so easy, crunchy and delicious to eat. The Crème Brûlée is surprising tasty at an Asian restaurant. The chocolate lava cake was decent. I like that they put strawberries on both desserts and added a couple chocolate sticks to them, too. They have an interesting variety of food - you wouldn't think to find Pho and such specifically at a sushi restaurant, so it was a nice surprise. We very much enjoyed our dinner and will be back to try more!

This is our favorite sushi place! Staff is friendly and the place is clean. The ginger salad and Pho are really good too, we come here often and it's always good.

Consistently good, staff is so nice. Happy hour is always busy so you can expect a wait but the host staff will keep you in the loop of estimated times. Entrees from hot to cold have been great. Lots of parking in the plaza but sometimes might push to the front of the drug store next door.

Well…beautiful facility, nice outside sitting area and seemed well if not over staffed, the food and drinks were presented nicely, we had the Green Dragon and the Lavender Margarita and both were very nice. We started with the Edamame’s and the Krab & Mint Rangoons were both good, the Rangoons were refreshing. However from there it went south. The service was very slow, when we got our appetizers my wife ordered a Tequila Sunrise and after a long wait our dinners came and still no drink. We we’re almost finished eating and the server came and told us that they didn’t have any orange juice for the drink and that they sent someone to go get some at the grocery store. As she brought the drink with no OJ we finished our dinner and they staff member that went for the OJ came back with it and they remade the drink correctly. This is why they are being given a 4 star instead of a 2 or 3 star. As for they Sushi it was presented nicely but was lacking flavors, we had 5 rolls (Yoshi’s roll, Rising Phoenix, Pineapple Express, Godzilla and Hamachi Lovers) only the “Rising Phoenix” tasted different mainly it was warmed and had lots of sauces, everything else tasted basically the same. As for the slow service? It may have just been our server because there were tables that were sat after us and left before we got our food. So I would chalk that up to a inexperienced server which will be left unnamed.

It is my first time here since they moved from carrollwood and i definitely i prefer the old sushi alive . I had the tuna avocado salad and it is different from the one in carrollwood,it was good but it is missing something,the sushi i wasn't impressed like before . Banana sundae was so good with the tempura,nice texture and flavor and the chocolate lava it was fine.

Super nice place, they sat us very quickly and were ridiculously attentive. Food came out super fast, and was delicious. Large portions as well as you can see from the tower of short ribs. Will definitely be coming back!

Good food and service. Live music on Friday night so loud, we couldn't hear the person sitting right next to us. Our kids live this place. Lobster was dry and tough. Chicken teriyaki was very good. All others had sushi.

Been here twice and both times have been great! It's always crowded and the tables aren't very distanced, but they have sanitizer on every table and at the door. The service is attentive and the food is excellent. I'll definitely go back

What a cute spot! The ambiance and decor inside is quite nice. They have both outdoor and indoor seating as well. The sushi was great and so was the server. We saw that they have great deals for lunch and happy hours so we will definitely be returning! The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the parking felt a little tight and was a bit packed so plan accordingly.

This was our second visit and it was amazing as was our first. Nancy was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. Huge thank you going out to her for her service. Give her a raise because I saw her manage her tables so professionally. Ask for her when you go eat there. She will take great care of you. Tip your servers well. They deserve it. We can't wait to come back. We love the food and the service.

This place did not disappoint! Our first time here and we’ll definitely become regulars! The sushi, the sauces, the tempura, the salmon bowl, the bento box, the the bao,… were all EXCELLENT! I’m a tough cookie and I notice everything! The restaurant was clean the atmosphere was inviting, and our server/bartender was outstanding! Even the others servers checked on us! Wow! I love this place! The food is fabulous and the Happy Hour menu is very nicely priced! We had a group of 20+ outside. It was a bit cold so the staff made sure we had all the heaters and that we were comfortable. Our servers were very personable and knowledgeable! We will definitely be back! Every sushi roll and meal we ordered was fabulous. I highly recommend Sushi Alive!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

UPDATE: happy hour prices have doubled, which I understand but the quality did not match. Portions are smaller and the fish quality is not the same. I recommend trying something else 5 months ago: Happy hour sushi is to die for. Some of the best quality I’ve had. Amazing service on top of it! Will definitely be back

If you don’t get an item in your order make sure to call back that day even if after hours. I called the next day and they refused to refund the item I never received based on that I didn’t call back same day. They would only give me a credit, even though I explained I was here to visit family and don’t live here so wouldn’t have the opportunity to use it. Nothing about this policy was listed on their website, so not sure how common knowledge it is.

Spacious, with a relaxing atmosphere. The sushi was delicious! The Hawaii 5-0 was so much better than I thought it was going to be! The Godzilla roll is provably my favorite out of what we ordered, with the simple japanese bagel being second. We ordered 6 rolls, with tip it cost about $80, with the rolls we chose ranging in price from $7-$13. I would definitely go back!

My entire family loves to eat here. We prefer outdoor seating because of our kids, but there's nice live entertainment inside on the weekend. Being on the keto diet, I can't eat rice. Sushi Alive has been very accommodating to make my sushi rolls without rice when requested, so I still get to enjoy my favorite food!

The food was delicious and the drinks were so good, but the service was phenomenal!!! If you like lychee and or peach, you must try one or both of these Saketinis. Especially, during happy hour to enjoy the bogo. The peach was my personal favorite. Also, if you like the sweet eel sauce, then another must try, are the Tempura Salmon Rolls. They are crunchy from the tempura, savory from the salmon and cream cheese also sweet from the eel sauce and spicy mayo that is drizzled on top! So yummy. (I recommend getting the sauce on the side, because sometimes they can be a little heavy handed with the drizzle.) The Korean Short Ribs were so delicious, with the perfect amount of char on the edges to balance out the sweet and savory sauce. The Teriyaki Dinner w/ Shrimp was also very good. The veggies were nicely done, and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I heard good things from a couple friends but I was not expecting this kind of quality and I was blown away . The interior is amazing the hostess was kind enough to find me a booth even though it took a couple minutes. TJ was my waiter exceptional service and a very professional young man from what I understood this is his first gig as a waiter. I went of known that whoever trained and did a great job. Speaking of training I was pretty impressed at the manager herself was out expediting food for the wait staff very charming young lady best experience I’ve had for service and quality of food .

I made a 5:30 reservation last night, 12-18-21 for my daughters birthday, (6 adults and 1 child). We were seated by 5:25 and our orders were taken @ 5:55, yet our food didn't arrive until 7. Our waitress was nice but left a lot to be desired as far as her job went. She never came this to check on drink refills and when we were able to flag her down, it took 30 minutes to finally get them. She never offered an explanation as to why we were waiting on food that was taking over an hour to arrive. When we inquired, her response was "we have all new sushi chefs, there's a ton of tickets back there and they're really slow". At this point I would've looked for a manager, but I didn't want to embarrass my daughter or her guests. I have dined at restaurant several times because the food is excellent. However, the service is vastly subpar. Hopefully one day I will be able to give 5 stars but not until some new, knowledgeable employees are hired or the ones that are there get trained!

Met my wife and her co-worker for lunch.. First time here for me.. Got the lunch special with 2 different rolls and a salad. Salad was AMAZING with it's homemade ginger dressing. My daughter and I were out and decided we wanted to have some sushi, so we decided to try Sushi Alive. Let me start off by saying, Nancy was an absolute sweetheart throughout our an entire meal. We were seated right away, immediately brought waters and asked if we'd liked anything else to drink and if we'd like paper menu's. We ordered the sushi appetizer to start and that was truly amazing. The salmon just melted in my mouth. The shrimp didn't taste fishy at all. We both had the shrimp teriyaki for our entrée. The rice was sticky and delicious. There was a grilled piece of pineapple that was delightfully sweet and sour. The shrimp were juicy and plump and very well seasoned. It came with: mushrooms, onions, carrots, zucchini, and broccoli, all of which were perfectly cooked. We ordered three different rolls. The Hawaii five-o, the scorpion, and the Godzilla. When Nancy brought the plate to our table I couldn't believe how amazing it all looked. Even better was how it all tasted. Now, the whole time we're enjoying our meal, Nancy has come and checked on us, refilled our drinks, etc; several times. When we had everything boxed up she came to check on us again and she put our boxes in a bag. She is what all workers should strive to be like. At the end of the night, we left with our tummies nice and full. Will we be back? You bet we will!

My first time, Saturday around 7pm with friends. Pretty restaurant, guest singer a bit loud (but very good), attentive staff. Food ok. Has the Tempora appetizers, plain and pieces WAY too big. Think they cut a piece of zucchini in 1/2, breaded it and fried it. Huge frickin pieces. I made a mistake and ordered the Seafood Tempora entree, again too big and plain. My son had a sushi roll, looked good and he said it was good. We split a creme brulee, cold. How can you make and serve cold brulee? It should have been warm and gooey and filled with goodness. Disappointed especially since it was $8! It looked gorgeous, too bad. Will we eat here again, maybe. Very over priced with the guise of high class.

Asked for outside table told ni reservations it would be 45 min so we waited. Watched another party if four seat themselves outside laughing about skipping line but still no worries. Waited then observed another party come in no reservations but apparently knew an older worker who pushed past the hosts took over from them and seated this party instead of us. The young host apologized and then said we'd have to sit inside, which we did. Very disorganized for sweating. BUT our food was great, service was great but not sure if we'd ever go back. There's other places close that have seating and hosting together and are fair.

This place has really turned around since the new owners took over. Great food and great employees. Millie was our server last time and she's so sweet, patient and helpful. Our sushi was prepared beautifully and really quickly too, so shout out to Michael for the nice work he did too! We came in on a Thursday night with a group of six and were seated immediately even without a reservation. Plan ahead for takeout orders though since it usually takes an hour before the order is ready.

We’ve been going to Sushi Alive since it was on Dale Mabry and probably a quarter of its current size. We’ve never been disappointed with the sushi here. I travel a lot and have eaten sushi everywhere and this is most definitely my favorite spot. My husband doesn’t eat seafood and they’re always so accommodating to make him rolls with chicken, soy paper etc. I highly recommend this restaurant.

One of of favorite places to go as a family. The sushi is delicious, the service it great and environment is lovely! Happy hour is awesome, 2 for 1 specials and $3-$4 sushi! The kids menu is great too with a variety of fun options. My son loves the slurpi noodles and the crayons and activity sheets keep him busy for some time. We love this place- we are hooked!

The menu is extensive with familiar sushi and some of their design. The asparagus roll was particularly yummy. The miso soup was very favorable and the wait staff was attentive and enjoyable. Our waiter offered suggestions which was helpful as the 11 year old in our group didn't want sushi. The electricity went out while we were there but the staff reassured us and made us as comfortable as possible.

I’ve never had better sushi than we have had at Sushi Alive. We recently moved to the west chase area and were recommended to eat there. Now we go there once a week. We have tried just about every roll on the menu, all delicious. The only disappointment we have ever had with the restaurant is the service can be hit or miss, however the food is so amazing and such great quality we keep going back regardless. Their early bird special is an unbeatable value, but even their regular prices are a great value for the size and quality. We also taken it to go multiple times and it’s still spot on.

I showed up 10 minuted before my reservation and was seated right away.. Started off slow.. i was hoping to have ordered a drink before my husband arrived to surprise him on our date night but that didn't happen.. but once we ordered it was fast. It was our first time here and we enjoyed the food. It would have been nice if the live entertainment was outside.. she made it so much louder in an already loud dining area.. completely unnecessary and it made it feel more like a bar than an actual nice sushi restaurant.

Great food...poor service. Got here at 5pm(doors open)...its 6:17pm and we just got our food but there was a mistake in order and we had to wait for 1 plate...which came out within a minute. Yes, we order apps but ordered my son's meal then too, which was fine. Its just sad to watch others who were there after us get their food and leave before us. Food was Luke warm when it did finally come out. Waiter was great but offered no explanation for why the delay. Went out of our way to try this place based on friends recommendation but will stick to my local Thai place. Sorry, but not a good first experience worth recommending again.

I attended here as a party of @ 20. We had reservations and were promptly seated. Our servers were attentive and the wait time for our meals was as expected with a large party. The food was good with large portions. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and brought home half my dinner. They have a nice drink menu with various wines, Sake, specialty drinks and other liquor available at the bar. Overall nice ambiance at Sushi Alive. I would go back for another visit.

Quality of sushi is good, but man do they take FOREVER to prepare the food. Take out orders are regularly 30+ minutes later than the initial time frame given. Obviously to-go is getting slammed due to COVID, but please increase your kitchen staff to speed things up. There's no reason it should take 2+ hours to get a door dash order. :/

I just had dinner here and our server Winter seem to not care about our table but is more focused on another table. She doesn’t even want to conversate with us. When our entrees came out they were cold, when you take a bite of the veggies it bursts out cold water. I’ve dine in here a couple times before and never had an issue like this until this evening. I work in the service industry and the way she served us wasn’t welcoming. I’m sure the managers will just laugh about this, but honestly the service was just horrible. I wished I asked for the server with the long braids. She was 10x better. Manager was great though. She handled it well.

What a great place. Brought my GF here on a surprise little dinner. Didn't know what to expect, but when opening the door...it was awesome! Ambiance was on point, service was great and the sushi we ordered was to die for. We got there at 530 and the place opened up at 5...it was packed! I understand the place was busy but the 3 order sushi we ordered was very slow. About 45 mins have not a complicated order. Other than that, great place. Just order some appetizers and you'll be perfect. Highly recommend this to anyone stopping by for a "Have nothing to cook at home dinner, or dress up and have a few drinks dinner as well.

During these Covid19 times we certainly have to give a little slack in different areas to restaurants. At 6:15 p.m. I Ordered a large order online and they said it would be 1 hour. I was surprised that the wait was 1 hour but nonetheless life goes on. When I got there they asked for my last name and they couldn't find the order. Then I gave them the receipt I fortunately printed out and they found the order listed under my first name. When I got home and Entree Soup was missing from my order. On top of that I gave the waiter a $15 tip on a $75 dollar order. I would have expected him to check the order to make sure everything was there. So I would recommend that if you are doing a curbside pick up that you check your order. The food was delicious as always. They are crediting the soup and I had to ask if they could give me a coupon for my inconvenience. After I asked the manager offered a $10 credit waiting for me the next time I dine with them.

Updated: I have to say that Sushi Alive was the first place that I really felt comfortable with the Covid Protocols and being safe to eat. As things have progressed, they have kept their seriousness to the protocols and I still enjoy going there weekly. 3 Years Ago: Freshest Sushi. I’ve traveled quite a bit and it’s hard to find sushi this good. It’s always fresh and the rice is always perfect. I’ve been going there for about 10 years, from their previous location to now, and never had a bad meal. I always have the Yoshi role, the Caterpillar, and the Volcano. Their house salad is a staple too.

I realize a 3 is "negative" but I want this one to be perceived as a neutral. I didnt hate the place. Went for a bday party. Staff was kind, fast, and helping. Food was good, but for the cost I felt like I didnt get enough. I dont like seafood but the sushi I tried was really good and the meal I got was really good too. Massive negative: plastic everywhere. Everyone had a plastic straw. I asked for no straw, but there was ten on the table noone is using. Plastic cups everywhere, each has a straw. Its trash and trashy. I realize this is everywhere so its more of a societal problem but not something I expect to see at a place claiming/appearing to be upscale. One negative for cost, one negative for plastic. If these two things don't bother you, then you will really enjoy it.

I always stop at sushi alive anytime I'm in the westchase area. Best sushi in town and they always have the friendliest staff! It's sad to see reviews of one of my favorite local spots brought down by mask-hoaxers and Karens blaming their staff for refusing them service, as they are not required to do this by law and instead just dislike people with "medical conditions". Sadly some people will always feel things entitled to them for some reason. I recommend this place to anyone searching for quality sushi near Tampa!

Great food and atmosphere! I know most people post about their server or other things, but for me, I was just so taken back by how hard a bus boy by the name of Raffay was working. He was so attentive to making sure tables were clean and presentable. He was also just so polite. To be only 17, his work ethic showed to be much older. While speaking to Raffay, he said he just wanted to do a good job and his work showed just that. Stopped in on opening night. They're still working out some kinks, but great potential. The sushi chefs were getting the food ready, but then it would sit there. They need someone dedicated to delivering the food when it's ready. Quality was good, great selection of sashimi, nigiri and rolls. If you have a group, consider the "shipload" of sushi. The lighting is a bit harsh, not sure if they had it turned up or if that's the way it's supposed to be. We'll be back in a week to see how they settle in.

Happy hour with $1 sushi from 5-7. I eat fake sushi. The ginger dressing is thick and you can taste the fresh ginger. It is not mayonnaise-y at all. The teriyaki sauce is super thick, so if you don't want to eat a heavy sauce, get something else.

Sushi Alive by far has the best sushi in Tampa. Since moving from the North Dale location Im sure they have had some growing pains since the previous location maybe sat 60 people. Just ate at the new location last night and the quality of the sushi has carried over well. Excited to see the atmosphere at the bar when it warms up and they can open up to the outside patio.

Swanky atmosphere. Missing something, cant put my finger on it? An authentic feel is lost somewhere. Feels like a franchised operation. Didn't find truely creative concoctions, but that said, i ate every last bit. Yuumm! Very reasonable prices, big place with plenty of seating and service was quick and attentive.

First time visit albeit it's just two miles from our place, front staff were very effecient ga e a cboice of formal dining area, bar area, outside sitting or sushi bar we chose sushi bar the (best spot when checking out a sushi place). Our waiter spotted us when we settled in our stools while serving formal diners & in a huff give us the menu & took our drink order. The sushi chef in our spot took care our order (very effecient system) & our second serving. Wife loved the Singaporean wrap (never noticed that being served in Singapore - disclaimer: I travel to Singapore 6-8 times a year) it was good. Nigiri & Sashimi is of generous serving by Japanese standards - Disclaimer I travel to Japan 4-5 times a year. What I like most on that visit is the situarional awareness of the service support personnel (busboys or persons?) I dropped my car keys while while working on my sushi & sashimi - I wouldn't have noticed it - great quarter backing there! Overall experince? Excellent? Wish list? Hoping Sushi Alive will be serving Un, Ikurai & Tobuko; sushi rice too crumbly, & Nigiri is not smudged w/ Wasabi; Not fan of putting Wasabi myself (not supposed to be Definitely coming back. Absolutely recommend to family, friends & business associates. Domo arigato, Sushi Alive!

The new place is very nice although it is much farther out of the way. However, since the move from the location on Dale Mabry, the portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. For example, happy hour it's no longer $3 a roll. The last 2 times I came here, I didn't enjoy myself or the food as much as I used to.

The sushi was nothing special and the presentation was pretty lackluster. The soy-sauce, which was provided in a quirky little "decanter", had an odd sweetness to it. If I wanted sushi and was in the neighborhood, I would go here but I wouldn't make a special trip for it.

This WONDERFUL Establishment was open ALL day today and that made me so happy!!! I consumed sushi for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They were closed July 4th for Independence Day and that made me sad but it is understandable considering that is our NATION'S BIRTHDAY. Anyone who writes a negative review based on a restaurant taking a day off to celebrate the freaking 4th of July should be thrown in GUANTANAMO BAY for the remainder of the month of July. My husband and I used to frequent this place when it was a small hole in the wall on North Dale Mabry in Tampa. Then they moved locations to Race Track Road in a huge restaurant. We had a group of people and ate there this evening and got STICKER SHOCK at the 30% plus price increase ($5 plus per dish) of the prices on the menu! This restaurant is making a HUGE mistake making HUGE price increases like this. Maybe $2 per plate increase, but $5?!?!? Filet mignon went from $18 to $23 ... It always looks crowded, but with these price increases, mark my words, they will lose a lot of people....
