Yummm! My friend brought me here for dinner, she herself is Venezuelan and I have to say this place did not disappoint. The food was well prepared and bursting with flavor. Every bite was filled with flavor. Cool modern decor and big bar along with ample table sitting.

Nice Venezuelan restaurant located in Armenia Avenue in Tampa. I ordered tequeños y empanadas, the tequeños were good, the empanadas were very greasy and had a taste of old oil.

Don't let the outside fool you. The inside is nice and clean. Service was great with friendly staff. The food was delicious. We went on and Tuesday and they had buy one arepas and get one free (you have an option of 2 different kinds for the free one). We went around 9:30 pm and there were still people coming in to eat. The location is sus, but all the best restaurants are! Once inside, it’s clean, it’s got a good vibe, the staff are friendly!Everything was DELICIOUS! Ordered the sampler, and the burger! Amazing! Do yourself a favor and order the sampler!

Good arepas here any type of them and you can even make your own. The staff are very friendly and the service is good. The place decoration is modern i like it. Is a nice environment to be and good music. Not too expensive. Definitely recommend.

My first visit to Nico's. Modern interior, extremely friendly staff and the food was excellent! I ordered the La Sifrina arepa (to-go). I was offered a water while I waited, which wasn't very long. Food was tasty and fresh. I plan on visiting pretty regularly to try other menu items.

This place was awesome! I recommend one of the arepas with shredded beef. I can't remember the name of mine, but it had beef, black beans, cheese, and plantains. I had the plantains on the side, but ended up putting them back on. Whatever the red mayo is really sets it off! Also, their fresh juices are really good. We tried the passion fruit one.

We are studying Venezuela right now. An got a sample of many foods they traditionally have. Let me say sooooo goood. Grew up on Arepas, an they blew me away with how yummy everything was am even the desserts. My kids are picky eaters, an loved everything they tried.

The arepas were delicious. I e been coming here for a couple years now and the food was a lot better. The taste and flavor is still there and they are not a greasy as before. Service is pretty good and the atmosphere is great. Recommend getting the mini arepas over the regular size one.

Fantastic food and great service in a relaxed atmosphere. My wife and I went for lunch and we both loved the food. Her shredded beef arepa was the best I've had in FL. I got the sampler and everything on it was delicious. Tostones were also PERFECT. Seriously a great place for a delicious lunch at really reasonable prices.

I like their Cachapas. Tasty! Only thing is I believe they should follow instructions better on take-out/delivery orders. Like Putting Garlic-Sauce on the side and actually receiving them instead of not even sending it in the order yet charging for them. Reason why I only put 4 stars.

Very delicious Venezuelan restaurant with decent prices and good portion sizes. I have been here twice and have never been disappointed. The place is clean and the service is great. They do almost exclusively play Spanish music and have Spanish television on. I found it added to the experience but if you don't want to hear Spanish music maybe order the food to go. Overall a really good restaurant for a reasonable price.

I love this place! I have been here five times and every time has been almost perfect. The food is always amazing inconsistent, I also judge restaurants on there take out and they're take out is easily one of the most presentable and we'll put together in all of Tampa. The only complaint I have is the drink menu no alcohol or tea.

Great place in Tampa to get Venezuelan food. My favorites from there are the tequeños, cachapa tequeños and cachapas. They also have now an special for lunch Monday through Friday at 5.99, the portions are great, very tasty at an amazing price. Servers are kind and helpful 👌🏼

This review is for their food truck in Brandon. They only have a few options and everything is $8. When asking for a plain arepa the person working could not serve this because it wasn't in the computer system. I love arepas, but prefer them plain due to allergies within the family. They looked amazing!!! 2stars because of the way they looked. But, not higher because of their willingness to make accommodations and lack of menu options. Have to add that we went to their store front off Armenia and food was out of this world. Friendly, very accommodating and great prices.

Great service, authentic food. They have a good variety of all things Venezuelan in this place from tequenos and empanadas to arepas and cachapas. I drive every other weekend from Sarasota to Tampa for almost an hour just to eat in this place. They should at least set up a truck around this area! Love the place

Great and authentic Venezuelan food. Highly recommended. Revised Dec 2018: we went there 2 weeks ago. Food is still great and prices are fair. However, Google said they open at 8am on Saturday and we just droped by (It was 10:30am) and a guy just said "We open at 11am man". His attitude wasn't the best. He sounded rude. I'm hoping they see this comment and try to understand that this mentality isn't the best if you want your business to grow steadily.

Delicious Venezuelan comfort food. Arepas, cachapas (sweet cornmeal pancakes), tequeños (Venezuelan cheesesticks wrapped in delicate dough), empanadas (stuffed with your choice of ingredients), parrillada, carne/pollo mechado (pulled beef or chicken) !and so much more. So much to choose you'll have a tough time deciding.

It was a great restaurant, the food is really good and tasty and prices go from abaut 8 to 20 dollars per meal. The food is classical Venezuelan food which is arepa, cachapa and many other stuff. honestly it was one of the best venezuelan food I tasted, really recommend it

This place is definitely out of place in the neighborhood! You walk in and it's like a different world inside, very modern with plenty of seating. The service was a bit lacking and slow to respond. While there is a a variety of food options, there was some difficulty in understanding what all of th were and staff were not very eager to explain. All well and good if you already know about arepas but, you'll have some trial and error to find what you like otherwise. Word to expectant mothers, there are very few non soft cheeses (not recommended during pregnancy), so beware. Aside form that, after having tried a number of different things, we did find a few times that were to our liking. If service was a bit faster/friendlier, and a few more backup food options were available for those who can't or don't like soft cheeses, itd be perfect. I understand if the soft cheeses are just part of the experience, but again it was hard to get understanding of the foods from the staff.

After living in Michigan, Texas, and Florida, I would have to say this is my favorite restaurant I have been to. I'd recommend the La Pelua arepa and a cachapa. Definitely try the garlic sauce, and if you like spicy things, ask for the spicy sauce!

This was my boyfriend and I’s first time trying Vietnamese food! We ordered on Doordash and had an awesome experience. The chicha was incredible and we also shared a side of shredded beef that was ridiculously juicy and packed with flavor. We finished up with the sampler plate and OMG. 10/10. So much variety and fun flavors. It tasted like quality and both of us were pleasantly full. We can’t wait to order again!

Amazzzzzing. How else can I describe the perfect place with all sorts of eats. Their tequeños are out of the world. Baked perfect bread with delicious melted cheese inside. Reina Pedpiada is my absolute favorite with shredded chicken, avocado and special cheese you can’t go wrong!

Generally pretty solid Venezuelan cuisine at what I'd say is pretty reasonable prices. I ordered the "neat grill" plate it was came with Sausage, chicken, beef and pork. The chicken was the least desirable. it was tough dry and overcooked. The beef and sausage were by far the best. The sides of boiled yuca and tostones were very good. Speed of service was pretty good and the service was friendly, courteous, helpful and attentive. I would definitely come back

Grabbed lunch here one afternoon. It definitely doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food was surprisingly good! I got the arepa trio and it was good - but the chicken one was a little dry. We also got some cheese sticks, soup, and a cold arepa. Everything was pretty tasty and fresh. Service was good and the restaurant was clean. I'd definitely recommend.

Food ordered via delivery service, so review is not for the premises but food quality only. This is definitely comfort food, and one arepa or empenada goes a long way. No need to order yourself three or four. Definitely getting your money's worth, and taste is right up there with the best. Kids liked their equivalent of cheese sticks while I found the presentation of all the foods quite professional. I got the garlic sauce but think I will try a different sauce next time to compliment their quality foods.

Great food, nice people. We had a big group (14 people) late on a Friday night (10pm), and they happily and quickly seated us. I had the mini arepas: one chicken with gouda, one beef with white cheese, and one reina pepida; and then flan for dessert. Everything tasted delicious, and our server was very friendly.

Also i would like to point out the great service given to us by Carlos Pinto , 2 thumbs up for him! Some restaurants have excellent food but a bad service but here at Nico's we had both very good so we are ready to come back soon!!!

My best friend wanted me to try this place and being my best friend I hold his opinion to high regard and yet again he has not let me down. I would say this was a nicer than I expected a hole in the wall type restaurant. And the food was phenomenal it is Venezuelan and it's not typically the type of food I eat on a regular basis but was very flavorful fresh and I have to say exceeded my expectations for the 45-minute drive to this location. I definitely will bring my wife the next time we are in the area

Homemade Arepas stuffed with chicken and cheese was so so so good, definitely authentic and the portions are enough to take home. DAMN! I've never tried Venezuelan food before, this was on a whim. ..am very glad I stopped. The food is great. I had the Cachapas. ...delicious! Don't order the cheese sticks unless you're with other people, very good, but very very filing! The restaurant is very clean and the decor is very pleasing. My only criticism is the service is a little lacking. Pleasant, but she let my drink go empty and the other waiter walked past a few times without offering to help. (Sorry, huge pet peeve.. glasses should be full) However. ...I'll be back many times. ..

Nico’s is a newer clean Arepas Grill with solid waiter service. We used a Groupon to find this place and glad we did. The food was absolutely excellent. Good portions and authentic. They provide sauce bottles on the table that gives everything an extra kick!

I heard that it was very good, and after my first visit yesterday, absolutely succeeded my expectations ! Nothing negative at all, they make you feel at home and the food is out of the world. Valerie took care of my family with high professionalism and courtesy. Delicious food and great prices. I was taken here by someone who had lived in Venezuela for a couple of decades. The arepas are wonderful and will not disappoint, but don't limit yourself. We had a half dozen dishes and all were of the same high caliber. 5 dishes filled up 3 people for just under $50.

The service is wonderful, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. Nico's is an absolute must if you are ever in the area! The tequeños, platanos, and la catira arepas are my go to choices!

Authentic Venezuelan, Food is flavorful and Restaurant is nice inside. Service could have been better. Had to get up and get my own refill. Some of the entrees have peppers in it without saying on the menu so make sure it has none before ordering. Also tequenos are the size of my pinky. Tasted good but smallest ones I ever seen.

They need to include exactly what is in the food though because I ordered an arepa and it had peppers and onions on it even though that was not listed in the description of the menu. I can't speak negatively of the food as this is only my 2nd visit & both times the food is very good. I gave 3 stars due to tonight I ordered based on the prices listed directly from Nico's website menu only to get to the restaurant to find that they charged me way more than anticipated!!😣 Online (Nico's own website) Chicken Empanada $3.00, Nico's Sampler $11.99 & (3) Mini Arepas $6.95. At restaurant: Chicken Empanada $3.49, Sampler 14.99!, Mini Arepas $6.99. I spent almost $5 more than anticipated. While the young guy who assisted me apologized for the difference & even took a picture if my phone with THEIR menu prices, he offered NO reconciliation. Basically apologized, said he'll show someone & walked away!! Seriously??!! No offer of charging the CLEARLY advertised price or even a "let me get my manager for you". I consider that to be a bait & switch tactic. I'm in disbelief & I'm sad because the food is really good. My company often pulls in food trucks to reward employees for their hard work but I'm afraid after this experience, Nico's will not be recommended. I have several Spanish & American employees who always enjoy a good restaurant referral & we are very big on Word of Mouth advertising. I'm just very disappointed in this experience. 😒 Enjoy the food if you want to eat from here. Just don't go by their online prices because they are wrong!😡😒

Food is very good, however it is overpriced and portions are very small for the price $$. Today we ordered two “Christmas plates” and it literally came with one THIN slice of pernil pork. WHEN YOU CHARGE $20 a plate and an entire pork shoulder costs $10 you should give more than 1 slice! Again food is good, portions are small, and prices are too expensive. Same thing with chicken soup, high price, and only one chicken leg! I mean come on, really a leg is all you throw in for the high price you charge?! This food is comfort Latin food, in a hole in the wall location, don’t charge South Tampa or Brickell prices!

I have eaten arepas, empanadas and cachapas. Clean place, nicely decorated, Good food taste, size is aceptable. Prices are reasonable. The service is just very slow, and that’s with an empty restaurant, i mean three tables were occupied. I Can’t imagine going during busy hours. The servers where friendly, but very forgetful, had to ask a few times for the same item, obviously they have no professional training. Would be a nice little snack place if they expedite their service.

Great food and service! I had the arepa pabellon, it was delicious. I don't give them 5 stars because of the additional "Service Fee". It is going to make me think twice before I go to eat here and pay with a credit card. It is paying almost $2.00 extra dollars for nothing.

The first few times we went here the food was good, although service could be spotty. It's been awhile so decided to stop in. The food didn't seem as good as before and all tasted pretty much the same. My grandson was sick by the next morning but I was okay. He ordered different food than I did.

While the decor is a little too 80's industrial to take seriously, the tables aren't covered in the mystery sticky that seem to haunt most trucks gone stationary. It's clean, well-lit, and the music over the speakers isn't too loud to disallow conversation. The food is amazing. Beef with Gouda is my favorite of the arepas line up, but I plan to work my way through the rest of the menu on subsequent visits. The plantains are good, the tostobes are amazing. Especially if you add the garlic sauce. Prices aren't bad, but with drinks and a split appetizer, it ran us about $20 a person. But a place that smells so good, you want to keep eating even after you're full, is well worth it. Can't wait for my next visit.

First off, they had polar bear. Do you even know how hard it is to find that?! It's taken me like 10 years. Seriously super amazing beer that even non Venezuelan people will love cus that stuff is mild af and boozie af so I'm kind of drunk writing this but its okay. Then they have like crazy arepas whose name made me laugh. Staff is super cool and speak both English and Spanish there. We came like super late and they accommodated us and cooked for us and it is sooooooo good. They have Malta and frescolita and hallacas. You want pan dead jamon? They got you. You want pernil with ahllaca? Girl, they got you too. You want cachapas with a parrilla? Guess what? They still got you too. It's like a slice of Venezuela in Tampa. Music is awesome, atmosphere is awesome, tequenos are good and the empanada was awesome. Favorite restaurant to chill now. Gonna go get my drink on with my polar all the time now. This is probably the best Venezuelan food in the Tampa Bay area, that I know of! Their arepas are gigantic and the variety is tremendous. My preferred food there is the "empanada de cazón" (fish empanada), you do not need anything else to have a full dinner. I also recommend the juices.

I've had arepas at fairs and loved them, but these are on another level. They're basically arepa sandwiches full of meat and beans and cheese (or whatever you want -- there are lots of options.) The place seemed bigger than necessary, but it's also open very late, so maybe things pick up with the late night crowd.
