An amazing soul food restaurant. The food is delicious, the presentation sophisticated and a welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the fish and grits and really enjoyed it. It had a great blend of flavors that complimented each other perfectly. Robin got the smothered pork chop and it was equally as good. Add to it fresh cornbread muffins and fried Green Tomatoes and it was a great meal. The service was friendly and attentive as well as the entire staff.

My husband and I had the shrimp & grits and oxtails which were both amazing! We had the fried okra for an appetizer which were also great. Not only is the food great but the staff and service was top tier as well! My husband and I greatly appreciated the hospitality. It’s a must to try their strawberry lemonade! Will definitely come back to support this restaurant in the near future.

A great black-owned breakfast restaurant! Before heading back to Atlanta, I was craving shrimp and grits - at this point, I’m just on the hunt for the best one in the south - and I had to try it in Tampa. Mr B’s has its home-comfort vibe from food to decor, to even the owner and waiters’ hospitality. What I appreciated the most is that the shrimps were tail-off. That enough gets an extra star.

I'm from out of town. Called a friend who previously lived in the area and got the recommendation. I was not disappointed. Mistakenly, I got there about 30 min. before closing and was not rushed or pressured to eat and get out. Great food with good sized portions. Excellent service. Would highly recommend!

This is an absolute must in this neighborhood. Shrimp and Grits are in my top 3 and I've tried this dish across many states. The Chicken n Waffles were great, brining the Chicken overnight in buttermilk or some other solution would take this to over the top tender, that being said this was seasoned and breaded perfectly. The Waffle was the perfect compliment with the syrup. The Mac n Cheese was very good, would fool me if this is not home made, needed more cheesiness A few things; check on your guests at least once, I had to ask for water twice and that can't be the norm. Upon exiting say something, thanks for coming, how was your dish.

Let me start by saying the place was SUPER CLEAN, had a great atmosphere with angelic Christian music playing in the background tolerable for non-believers or believers. I had the shrimp and grits, greens and yams. The shrimp and grits were good, grits were thin which didn't mesh well with the heavily seasoned sauce but the shrimp was cooked to perfection. I would order it with little sauce/gravy or atleast it on the side. Yams were boiled, slightly sweetened and chopped thickly, similar to canned yams. Greens were seasoned for the Gods though. Don't know if there was meat of any type in it but good none the less. Sweet Tea was meh, unappealing, slightly sweetened, wouldn't get it again. Staff was amazing. Checking on me just the right amount of times. Support small businesses!!

The okra was the bomb!! Macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and cornbread... Hitting hard!! The only thing I didn't like was the pork chops and fish weren't seasoned. The batter and flavor on top of the meat was good, but the meat it self was just plain. Beautiful new server! The staff was super dope and friendly!! Definitely coming back the next time I come to Tampa! They said they've been there for five years now.

Zero complaints! The hot honey chicken was crunchy on the outside and super juicy on the inside; the turkey meatloaf was dense and flavorful. AND THE SIDES! Loved the cabbage, and I don't even like cabbage. Okra with tomatoes, mac n cheese, and black eyed peas were all top notch. First time having fried green tomatoes and I was blown away! Seasoned perfect and the sauce with it was a great addition. Grabbed a turkey leg and peach cobbler to go for shared lunch tomorrow. Will definitely be back soon!

I can't rave about this food enough! My fiancee had the Oxtail with dirty rice. I had the pan-seared grouper. We had the fried Green tomatos for an appetizer. I loved them despite not being fond of tomatos. This food in my opinion is as close to excellent as you can get. The service was also top-notch. They were very attentive and made us feel like we were eating lunch on their home! You shouldn't settle for good food or good enough...food can be so much more and this is it! Side- note: the rice is spicy and I don't usually go for that much spice but I ate every bite! Also, the mango cheesecake is superb!

Incredible!!! Traveled here from Detroit MI by way of Fort Worth TX to visit my Dad for my birthday. We fully enjoyed our experience the breakfast was Phenomenal. Staff was amazing great service and smiles (even through the mask). Awesome management surprised my soon to be wife and I with an early wedding gift. Amazing in every way! We were greeted at the door upon entry and promptly escorted to a nearby table. Our drink requests were taken and brought out immediately by Zachary, our server. He asked if we had any questions and answered them promptly. But, let's cover thus amazing food! Everything from presentation to taste was on point. Neka, the owner, came from the back to greet us an explain the preparation of the dishes in front of us, even going to the back and coming back with a special sauce she'd prepared to go with the fish. A1 all around! We will definitely be back with friends. This is a culinary experience to share! Detroit loves this place!

A delicious southern restaurant with excellent customer service. Came here with a friend craving southern food and left very happy. The restaurant was really nice and cozy! We originally were going to take our food to go but decided to dine in because it was cute. The highlights were the Beef short rib and the Mac n cheese. Beef Short Ribs- these were absolutely the fave dish that we ordered. To be honest, it didn't look that moist when we got it but man, did the looks deceive. It was falling apart the moment you stuck your fork in there. It was a blend of sweet, juicy and fatty deliciousness in your mouth. 5/5 Mac n Cheese- another dish where the look of it wasn't as appealing as the taste. I thought it would be grainy but man I'm glad I was wrong. It was pure heaven in my mouth. The cheeses they used added a perfectly balanced saltiness and tang to my palate. 5/5 Okra & Tomatoes- these were moist, cooked well enough where it still had a bit of bite to it. The tanginess from the tomatoes worked very well with the okra! 4.5/5 Cabbage- this was in a delicious broth. Cabbage had texture and flavour! 4.5/5 Collard Greens- very delicious and wonderfully cooked! If you need some greens, you can’t go wrong with it. (No picture) 4.5/5 Corn Bread- the ones that came with our meal were dry but they came out with a fresh batch to give to the patrons and it was much better! 4/5 Peach Cobbler- buttery, delicious, fruity, not excessively sweet. No matter what bite you got, it was southern hospitality in your mouth. 4/5 Oxtail- the oxtail definitely could have been more moist. The flavour was good but I wish it could have been a bit more saucy. 3/5

Customer service was top tier the food on the other hand I was slightly unimpressed the chicken Mac and peas was absolutely disgusting and the first order of chicken wings were a little under cooked but the fish and grits were delicious the over all first experience was okay I definitely will give them another try

This is my second time eating here and both times have been amazing. I would have taken pictures, but we were too busy eating. I had the Turkey meatloaf with cabbage and black-eye peas and it was delicious. The fried green tomatoes were perfection. We dined in and Zachary was an excellent server. I would def recommend this restaurant.

This is impeccable southern cuisine. We got there 30 minutes before closing time. They were very hospitable and did not rush us out the door. My BF and I had turkey wings , honey fried chicken , smothered pork chops with lima beans . Yes, we ordered all that food ! It was seasoned to perfection and the sauce on the smothered pork chop was everything !!! The price was right and the restaurant is very clean. If you want home goodness try this southern cuisine.

Mr. B's restaurant was 🔥 everything was delicious seasoned to a t. If you ever go to Tampa, Florida stop in to some tasty soul food. You won't be disappointed and the place is beautifully decorated. Also the staff are beautiful, friendly and professional which made everything awesome. We will be back the next time we are in the Tampa, Florida area. If we lived there we would be there at least 3 times a week. If you don't go you are a fool and missing out. Awesome food and delicious! #Maryland fans

If there was a way to rate Mr. B'S 100 stars..I wouldn't even hesitate. I've been in Tampa for 6 months and have eaten here probably a dozen or so times..I have never and I mean never eaten at a restaurant so delicious, consistent and overall incredible. Between the fried okra, fish bites, spicy cauliflower, hot honey chicken, pork chops, and fried green tomatoes you can't go wrong. Mama is a gosh damn miracle worker and I have found the love of my life right here at Mr. B'S!

I believe this was the best breakfast I've had in a restaurant, possibly ever. Beautifully decorated, tables not crowded, attentive service. Our table of six didn't notice that there was no salt or pepper on the table until we were more than halfway through because the food was seasoned perfectly and no one needed it. The best grits I've ever had along with a pork chop that was tender and tasty. Breakfast is only served on the weekends and is a treat I won't pass up anytime I'm in town.

I went to this restaurant during my vacation in Tampa….. Wow this place is awesome!!!! Such a welcoming vibe. The staff was welcoming, food was excellent, very clean environment, no disappointment at all. Best soul food I have ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant. I asked for pork chops fried hard. Extra crispy. Lady that took my order said she was the cook and she had me. Boy did she have me. Those chops were cooked to perfection and so tasty. I even called to tell her what a great job she did. Will definitely be going back and telling others.

We choose Mr. B's for breakfast because it was close to the hotel we had stayed in. Now we have "our" breakfast spot whenever we visit Tampa. The service was top notch, the menu is creative, and the food was delicious. The serving size of every plate was generous as well.

We ended up going here on Christmas because it was one of the few restaurants open and it ended up being the best decision ever. Everything was delicious and they were very patient with us. We will definitely be back for more delicious food and their awesome hospitality.

Every so often you find a hidden gem and when you do you want to spread the word.. So I am spreading it. Found this treasure and its gold. I had a taste for chicken and waffles and was at first disappointed when the young lady at the register flipped over the menu from breakfast to lunch/dinner, but, my frown went to straight excitement as I gleam to the middle of the menu and saw what my taste buds desired. While waiting for my order I was able to take note of the establishment. Very urban eclectic, Very clean and the most warming staff I have encountered. Meeting the owner was a plus, very charming and passionate about what she does. This is evident in her food. All Love. The Belgian waffle was light and fluffy and the tenders were moist and were crispy. The syrup had a kick to it and when eaten together it was just the best combination of flavors. All I could do is put my hand on my tummy and say yummy. I wont lie a didnt make it out the park spot. This will be a go to as I will try other dishes as time goes by. Also a kid friendly spot. Keep up the good work. 😊

It was not my favorite. We had fried pork chop, rice, greens and lima beans. The greens and lima beans weren't seasoned well, the rice was hard. We also had the honey chicken wings with fries. Did not enjoy the chicken, it wasn't that seasoned and soggy. The fries were bomb though. I will say the inside was amazing, super cute note doing to much and great vibe.

I wasn't pleased at all with this place. It's kinda of hard to mess up fish & grits. Well the grits weren't good & the fish taste like it was frozen. No bread was offered or any condiments. The coffee was Luke warm and bitter. Took forever to get the meal , only to be disappointed. The decor is very well put together.

Took my son out to lunch and we both enjoyed it. Nicely decorated and clean. Service was on point. I had smothered pork chops, candied yams and cabbage. My son had fried chicken, yams and collards. Every thing was perfectly seasoned except the yams were a little heavy with the dark syrup. Some may prefer them that way. And they have some of the best corn muffins I've ever had. Prices were very reasonable.

Well, that was great. I had driven by this place several times and finally stopped in and I'm glad I did. Hot Chicken as well as Chicken and Waffles sit atop their menu as the most popular items and they looked like that was going to be my order...until I noticed the ribs ONLY available on the weekend. Most entrees come with white or yellow rice and 2 sides. Rice is and odd choice, but I got the white rice and it was cooked perfectly. My other sides were the Fries and the Candied yams, which were excellent. The 3 large ribs came out smothered in a nice tangy BBQ sauce and they were very tender. I'm very happy with my decision with the Ribs. Others in the party tried the Catfish, hot chicken as well as the Chicken and waffles. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. And dont forget the Corn Muffins. Corn Muffins? Ain't nothing wrong with corn muffins!

If you are looking for amazing soul food then look no further. Mr. Bs is owned by Calvin and Nikka and they really know what they are doing. They took traditional soul food and made it amazing. The Honey Hot Chicken is a dish that people drive from all over Central Florida to get. The restaurant experience is about family, community and unity. Clean and cozy place. Food was hot and delicious. Pancakes were fluffy and had the crispy edges which I love. Waitress was friendly and very attentive in making sure she got our order right. The portions are great in comparison to their prices. Did take a little long but they did have a big party they were attending to which could have backed up the kitchen so I still say it's a one off. I visited from out of town and would definitely come back if ever in the area.

Customer service was good, they were very friendly and pleasant, and even offered suggestions. However, the chicken tenders in the Mini B meal were the exact opposite of tender and the honey hot sauce had an unusual taste, so we had to feed him somewhere else. My husband said he enjoyed the chicken sandwich and fries. The fish was seasoned a little heavily but was overall good, the mac and cheese tasted ok (after I removed the thick layer of cheese that was old) the beans were pretty good. For some reason I was not given any cornbread 🤷🏽‍♀️ but by the time I realized it, I wasn’t driving back 30 minutes. Hopefully I can get it on my next visit. I still want to try the greens before I leave Tampa.

Our server, Brittany, was very patient with our bunch. The restaurant was very clean and they checked on us many times. We all ordered different foods. All presented beautifully! I was told the Shrimp and Grits were very good. I personally had the fried okra appetizer. Now, I love okra and usually devour it simply fried and lightly salted. I surprisingly enjoyed this dish with whatever the sauce was on top. I forgot to ask what it was. For me, and this is my opinion, my entre' was a little short on flavor from herbs and spices. But overall, if I am ever in Tampa again I would return. There are other dishes I wanted to try. I wish them much success. Thank you Mr. B's!

Great Place. Waitresses were very kind and accommodating. Big one for me...the place was very clean. I had the veggie burger, greens, yams and blackeyes. All good. The greens had a big piece of turkey skin. I didn't like the flavor it put on the greens. Still, the greens had a lil kick and with some vinegar was good. Everything else was very much to my liking. The cornbread....ooooo weee. Get some. Definitely will return and recommend you to get there.

This restaurant has the BEST customer service we've experienced in a long time! As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with kindness and a smile. The atmosphere here was very inviting and relaxed. We didn't have to wait a long time to be seated or served. It was very fast! The server was great! The owner's wife was super nice and genuine. The food was great as well. It was served hot and fresh. The cleanliness of the restaurant was superb! It was our first time going and it definitely will not be our last. The overall experience of everything was phenomenal. Very impressive! It felt like HOME!!!

Food is a bit pricey (for a side dish to be so small, especially) but don't get me wrong, the food tastes good! Nice and clean sit down environment as well; staff was okay. My male waiter could have been more bubbly to make the experience better. This small thing makes or break for alot of people to come back again 🙂 Overall, I will consider going back again sometime to try another new dish!

I visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday and was very impressed! The first impression was the facility. Very nice! So quaint clean and cozy.The decor is beautiful; love the gray yellow and white color scheme. The staff was friendly, and the food was AMAZING! I enjoyed the hot honey fried chicken entree, with mac & cheese, collard greens and it was delicious 😋 👌. The only reason I gave the restaurant 4 stars is because they didn't have any cornbread muffins that comes with the meal, and the lemon cake I had wasn't moist and lacked flavor a bit. Overall, it was a good experience and I will be back.

No need for salt or pepper...periodtt!! Now I must always keep it real. The only little issue I had was I would like a little more juice on my beans. But other than that, y'all keep doing your thing. My Family and I ate lunch at Mr B's today. What a treasure. The food was fantastic! Everybody enjoyed their entrees. We were visiting my brother and sister in law who live in Tampa. Coming from New Jersey, I had Mr B's on my agenda to visit ever since seeing this restaurant featured on Robert Irvine's Restaurant Impossible. Our server was very warm and kind. Several of the staff came out to say hello to us and ask how our meal was. The restaurant has a nice decor (As was seen on Restaurant Impossible). If in Tampa, I encourage anyone reading this to stop in. You won't be disappointed.

I was very pleasantly surprised! Clean, friendly, good prices. The sides I got were awesome; Mac & cheese (to die for!), black eyed peas, collard greens and yams. Reminds me of my grandmother's cooking (yum, yum). The fried catfish was delicious. Not crazy about the chicken wings, but my daughter enjoyed them. I WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK!

Collard greens taste great and seasoned well. Smothered pork chops and dirty rice weren’t quite what I’m accustomed to being a Louisiana native, just a different Caribbean taste. My husband and I enjoyed our first dining experience here. Service was spot on. Very clean and modern. It wasn't very busy but it was a Friday afternoon (after 1:30). I had the oxtails they were small but very tender. The mac and cheese was delicious however the cabbage wasn't seasoned at all. (nothing a lil hot sauce can't fix) My husband had the chicken and waffles and he said it was meh. He said they should have put the wings with the waffles cause he also ordered the buffalo wings and he said they were crispy and delicious. He def recommends the wings! The food was great! The ladies that work there remind me of my favorite auntie that would always cook when people come over. I had the beef short ribs and my dad had the oxtails. Today I visited Mr. B's restaurant with my bestie Jackie. We traveled from St. Pete.We were greeted with smiles as soon as we walked in. The atmosphere was wonderful, nice and clean . Mr. Jerome gave us a little background about the restaurant. The food was delicious, I had the oxtails, candied yams and greens, which were served with muffins. Our waiter Demetrius was wonderful. I ordered the oxtails dinner with yellow rice, cabbage and Lima beans. The oxtails were very good and tender (and a good portion which is rare with restaurants). The sides were good, but my rice was undercooked. I will say the oxtails were so good it made up for the rice and I will definitely order from here again

My husband son and I ate here for breakfast while visiting Tampa! And WOW awesome customer service from the time we walked in until we walked out the door. Everything on each of our plates was amazing. We ordered fried catfish and grits, chicken and waffles and our son had the pancake platter. The food was VERY reasonably priced and to top it off they offered Texas Pete hot sauce 😁 I’m for NC and that’s the ONLY hot sauce so when we saw that it was just the cherry on top! If you’re in Tampa support this establishment it truly embodies the meaning of Soul Food!

The food was excellent there's nothing wrong with it. All the coffee was the right guy strength the right temperature. When you're in there for a weekday breakfast and Dave's for cooked the way they were wanted to have two potatoes were good and nothing was overcooked or really undercooked everything was excellent overcrowded but it wasn't empty inside the restaurant.

Appearances of food-B At first site the sandwich looks guuuud, cuban toast toasted on all sides and the cheese was nice and melty. My only issue was the egg looked over cooked and the sausage coukd have had a better sear for color. Taste-A Outstanding taste and flavor....did not put it down, once I got going....simple in look....big on flavor.......let the food speak for itself......excellent Value-A You get what you pay for...the sandwhich was around 6.50....and every bite was worth it. Good southern cooking with large portions! I ordered the smothered pork chops, yellow rice, mac N cheese, collard greens, and candied yams. The Mac N Cheese was amazing!!! Very cheesy and seasoned. The smothered pork chops were ok. They could have used a little more seasoning on the actual pork chops. The collards were also ok. They could have used some additional seasoning as well. The candies yams were very good! My friend purchased the grilled shrimp, mac N cheese, black eyed peas, and yellow rice. The shrimp were saturated in Old Bay seasoning. The other sides were pretty good. The restaurant was in a great location. It gives you that “family restaurant”’feel. It was very clean and the staff were also very friendly. I plan to make a couple more trips to sample the other menu items.

Oh wow, the honey fried dark meat chicken is insanely delicious. It’s an excellent blend of spicy and sweet, like nothing else I’ve ever had. This is seriously the best fried chicken in Tampa. I know what your first question is and... I can’t compare it to Chick-Fil-A because this is “Bone in”, which Chick-Fil-A doesn’t offer, so your lunch spot is still safe. The sides I tried were lima beans and mac and cheese. They both tasted like Memaw made them. So, if your Nanna, Granny, G-Ma, Gigi, Baba, Grammy, or Grams made your favorite treats, I think you will want to give this food a try.

I just moved into the neighborhood and wanted to try them out for a Togo meal. I was unable to find a phone number. I looked on their Facebook page and I found what I thought was their number on a partial picture of the menu. Called the number and it said it wasn't receiving calls. I rarley make negative comments and always wish Small businesses well. But three MAJOR recommendations: 1. Put your phone number out their, especially Google maps 2. Put a PDF version of your menu out there. 3. Facebook is only good for people with Facebook, build up you internet presence.. Google maps, Google Plus, yellow pages, white pages something. Unless your making gobs of money the way your doing it now then this doesn't matter. God Bless
