We were a large birthday party of 11 people. We had a reservation and they were thoughtful enough to not allow one table very close to us to not be seated so as not to infringe on our space! Everyone enjoyed their meals and didn't fuss over our several separate checks. A reasonable automatic gratuity was added which made paying much simpler. The menu is authentic and delicious. Parking was even okay with not much hassle. Our waiter was very patient and prompt. Other staff members pitched in to help clear our table which made gift opening easy for our birthday girl. A great experience. We brought our own cake and our waiter provided plates for us. Thank you for a hassle free family event. Will be back.

Haven’t been to Margaritas in a long time. It was exactly how we remembered it. Everything was delicious. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and wonderful view of Davis Island. Such a hidden gem and wonderful food. The spicy margarita made skinny will be your new favorite cocktail. #sunshinereviews

I enjoyed my visit to Margaritas, but I wasn't overwhelmed by the food. The service was good. We had a new waitress that seemed a little overwhelmed, but her attentiveness made a huge difference in my dining experience. I love Mexican food, but I'm not a huge fan of corn tortillas. She was aware enough about the menu and options to ask what I preferred so I was very grateful for that. The salsa was very underwhelming. It was so watery that I feel like tomato juice has more consistency. Very few if any fresh cilantro or onion remnants. The chips were ok, but a little stale. The "house" margaritas were very disappointing. I'm glad I got them on happy hour as 2 for 1 otherwise I would have felt really ripped off. They seem to be made with a mix as opposed to using fresh lime and natural sweeteners. During happy hour you get the deal I mentioned, but you have to get them at the same time which causes your second mediocre margarita to get watered down. The waitress asked if I wanted them staggered, but the manager vetoed that. The food lacked seasoning. Salt, cumin, pepper, etc..... very lacking traditional Mexican flavors I experienced in Baja and California. My food looked great and the portion sizes were appropriate. The exception was the kids chicken tenders. It was like they took 4 ounces of chicken and cut it very thin to make the basket look full. I would have rather my daughter had 2 nice portions instead of mainly eating flour. The thing that kept me from giving 2 stars was portion size and service. The decor is nice. The location is amazing, but the food and beverage are lackluster.

Absolutely our favorite Mexican restaurant in Tampa! The food, service and drinks are always top notch. We had them cater our anniversary party this past weekend and Paul, a manager, handled everything for us. It was incredible and our guests raved all night about the food. 10/10 experience! I don’t even know where the start. Margaritas is my favorite hangout place in Tampa. Everything they serve is phenomenal, including chips & salsa, margaritas, tacos, quesadillas, and more! The service is always wonderful and the atmosphere is great!

Really great drinks - especially the margaritas! Appetizers were equally good - recommend the guac. Service was super friendly - memorably so. Dinners were a bit disappointing in comparison. Highly recommend going for cocktails and appetizers with both outside and inside dining.

Went there on Tuesday night I was expecting to see some specials on tacos since everywhere else is Taco tuesday, but didn't see any and the waitress didn't offer any, so I didn't bother to ask, was taking my mother there for her birthday she liked the food my food was decent prices are about average and service was decent

Super friendly welcome by Angel. He got our drinks in a timely fashion and took our order. I have ONE complaint I'll get out of the way. The kitchen is slow. Took almost 20 minutes for our order. Now to the best parts. They have Prosecco. YAY! My kids are vegetarian. They split the veggie burrito. Meaning they both got one full burrito. Yes. Not one cut in half. TWO IN AN ORDER. I tried it. Amazingly fresh veggies and great sauce. I got the Mexican corn. Can I have 7 more please? Best stuff. So good. Fresh, cooked perfectly, a little acidic and a little creamy went all the way with the sweet corn. Muah. Finally, I got the side beef tacos. Shells had perfect crunch, beef was well seasoned and had perfect amount of cheese. Angel and Jancy took care of us like we were family. Total enjoyment! ETA...I'm an idiot...i doubled up on photos by mistake :/

Food was great the atmosphere was very relaxing and the host was beyond amazing. His smile and energy was the very pleasant. The drinks came out it I was definitely surprised with the size for the price. I had a margarita and burger with fries. Santiago was our server and he was superb. He was amazing and we will definitely be back.

So check it out, I used to live in Tampa and this place used to be a different Mexican restaurant and it was my absolute favorite. So I have to tell you I was a little disappointed because my favorite restaurant was gone. I was told it didn’t make it through the pandemic and that breaks my heart. This place is good but it’s not great however I think everyone should make that decision on their own. I personally would not come back here however it wasn’t a bad meal it just wasn’t my favorite meal like before.

On Davis Island, beyond Tampa General, there are a few interesting eateries known to TGH employees and the "Islanders". This is one of them, There;s nothing to detract from this place, The food is excellent, service is fast and friendly, with chips and salsa to kick off the meal. There's a ton of specialty Margaritas and other great cocktails in a drink menu of 4 pages! If you're visiting Davis Island or TGH for any reason and you want a really nice Mexican lunch, here is the place for you. Two filling lunches for under$20!

Update April 22nd 2022: We were looking forward to a jalapeño margarita and waited for 10 minutes for service. Kept asking to be served and we kept being ignored. Another family was served immediately— I feel like it was on purpose and unfortunately it is not the service it once was here. Sad to say I don’t think I will be back 🥹 2020: So delicious 😋 and highly recommended! Chips and salsa is awesome and service is great too!! This is my place on Di!! 🏖❤️🌴

The Molcajete with steak had me come back a year later. Tried it in 2021 when we were here on vacation last year. Was so good, I just had to go back again since we are back and it didn't disappoint. Forgot to take a pic as I was so excited to start eating. Just a flavor explosion with every bite. You need to try it.

5 Stars for the food, as usual. 2 Stars for the service. Not sure what is happening here, but this visit had slow service. My water was empty, salsa empty and we could not get a margarita ordered. We really hope they get things straightened out. They really need more bathrooms, had to wait and make several trips to the toilet to get in.

Margaritas has a great location on Davis Islands. The Mexican food is almost always tasty and it's authentic! , Most will find the prices fair and they definitely have quick service! With all those great things being said the downfall is this place is very no frills! The atmosphere is in sore need of a refresh, it's worn and needs to see a little reinvestment. The store front and outdoor patio area needs pressure washing the railings and building need to be painted. They are still using plastic tables and chairs that went out in the late 80s Some Mosaic tables or wrought iron would work well out here. The outdoor plants are overgrown and untrimmed. The indoors is not as bad however it too is in need a refresh as well. some new furniture or upholstery and some strategically placed plants. And staging items. Margarita has the important things going for it. an I feel it has the opportunity to become a top destination for Mexican food, if more people remembered it for it's ambience as well as location and tasty food

Best Mexican restaurant you can find on Davis Island. You can find better flavor and value if you drive farther but for the location not bad at all! The fact that they had molacjete was awesome! Good variety of drinks but cocktails are not strong. I'd recommend trying if you're in the area and don't want to drive far.

Had Margaritas and nachos. The nachos were so loaded they were soggy. Ok flavor though. Nice patio vibe. It was Cinco de Mayo and they had zero specials. What’s that about? They did have a cool DJ though. Ok neighborhood spot to visit. Just don’t expect excellent food or white tablecloths and you’ll be satisfied.

The location is great and they have an outdoor seating area. Live music plays on weekends. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes waiting 10 min for a server and other times no issues. Their food needs a lot of improvement. They use inexpensive ingredients and usually it's poorly prepared. I go there because friends and family go there.

The food here is great. I love the Burrito California, every time we get it it tastes fresh. The service is slow, but we’ve found that by ordering as soon as our server arrives, rather than waiting for their second or third visit, it speeds things up. The patio is dog friendly, really common to see several tables with dogs which is good. Edit: I’ve taken this review down to four stars. The food hasn’t tasted as fresh recently.

First time here and very happy! The food was delicious and our server Nacho was awesome! Very hospitable and timely. The restaurant was a little busy with it being Labor Day, but we were seated immediately and didn’t have to wait long for anything! The house margs were delishhhh, and the steak burrito was so tasty! I have been going to this restaurant on and off for years, and by far my experience with Nate as a server tonight is the best service I have ever received from this restaurant. He was more attentive than any previous experience and added some fun to the evening. Will request Nate in the future when dining here!

It's my second time there and the kitchen is slow, there's no reason to wait 45+ minutes for food to be delivered at the table. The waiter was courteous, but he kept putting his face mask down while he was walking around the floor and talking to co-workers, twice he showed up to the table without wearing the mask, and was noticed just not by my table but by other patrons. Food is good but it needs improvement on delivering the food faster.

Talk about a hole in one! We've tried Mexican restaurants all over the city and no experience has been more enjoyable or authentic than Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, a hidden gem of sorts nestled away on Davis Islands near downtown Tampa. Best part was that it is dog friendly and has wonderful outside seating in a lovely part of the city. Our waiter Gustavo was fantastic and effortlessly helped us work our way through their menu making phenomenal recommendations, and most importantly he guided us through our top priority! The incredible selection of genuine and powerful margaritas! Would recommend to any lover of great food and a great time!

I wish that this restaurant was better because is very convenient with the location but smells REALLY BAD INSIDE. I’ve been at least 3-4 times and walks smells like a dirty bathroom, I’m not kidding. There’s a lack of good management. Everything is very dirty and the servers takes a long time to even notice that there’s clients waiting to be seated. There’s a lot of lack of everything and it shouldn’t be that way. We “the costumers” deserve more than that, considering that they’re located in Davis Island. Things should have better quality!

I was wowed. Jancy and the staff took care of me. I was running in for a quick bite. They offered me water while I waited for my to-go order, asked me to sit and relax while I waited. Food was delicious and priced right. Other staff engaged me to make sure I was taken care of. I felt like I was visiting in their beautiful world. Thanks guys. Not all that impressed. Shredded chicken taco with hard shell was good. Burrito came out like a soggy enchilada, sauce and cheese no good. Salsa was nice, but server forgot about our request for more. Rice pretty good, beans not so much. Not bad, but pretty mediocre. Nice outdoor seating. Lunch goes to 3pm, no luck ordering from that menu at 3:20. Lunch prices look good, dinner not so much. Probably will not come back. Thai restaurant across the street is another caliber, walk there.

Ate there Monday evening and was impressed by the quality. I ordered the burrito California (fried w/ chicken) and it was excellent. Margaritas were good sized as well. The salsa was a little soupy but still good. I would recommend if your in the mood for some good Mexican food and in the area.

got the 7 dollar jalapeños cheese dip and it didn't come with chips..? if there aren't any chips, don't call it dip, call it queso. the rest of the food was average. had the California burrito and it reminded me of how the old (and good) 5 layer burrito from taco bell used to taste back in the glory days

Margaritas closes at 11 PM. We had a party of 11 walk in at 10 PM and they accommodated our large party without hesitation! The food was AWESOME and our sever was very attentative. Great job! Will definitely return!!

SUPER nice staff, relaxed atmosphere and the food was AMAZING! They have a Chipotle sauce and a cilantro sauce, ask for one or both of your meal doesn't come with it. 3 of us ordered something different and we all enjoyed our selection and each other's! Stop in, you won't be disappointed. We're on vacation and have eaten all our lunches and dinners out and this has the best so far. Our waitress Lisa was a gem! So sweet and took GREAT care of us. Great food and drinks. But please make sure your waiters are wearing their masks. Our waiter today had his on his chin the entire time we were there. While he talked over us and took our order and when he was talking to other tables. Then later on we saw him walk by without it on at all. It felt uncomfortable for me especially because it is a pandemic.

I was there for a happy hour on Friday after work. Delicious margaritas. There was not much of a crowd as it was raining outside, but service was a little slow. The beef quesadillas were delicious but a little soggy. I definitely want to give it another try. I've heard great things about this place.

Excellent restaurant!! They have a menu with a wide variety of options even for those on a special diet like vegan, paleo, etc. We sat inside but they had nice tables outside as well. There wasn't any live music on the night we were there but would love to come back for that on one of the nights they have that!!

The food is fantastic. Tacos, chimichangas, their meat/cheese dip is fantastic. However, if you order from a delivery service be prepared for items to be missing or made incorrectly. I highly recommend dining at the restaurant because the food really is outstanding. Their service is pretty good. They also have outside dining on their patio. They serve both liquor and beer, I'm not sure about wine. There are several Tv's in their large bar area which does have regular tables. It is also big enough to host a large party, I'd say at least 30 or more people. I highly recommend eating at Margaritas Mexican Restaurant.

have been coming to margaritas for about 10 years before it was Estella's and with a new owner the food improved but didn't change overall. I have brought ever friend to margaritas and would recommend it in a heartbeat. Great pricing for big meals and the staff is so kind and welcoming. Many have been there for more than 5 years. Great waiter I can’t remember his name it’s a male I think he is Dominican any way, he was always asking and very professional. I wish I can remember his name he deserves to be called out. Food was good too I eat the chimichanga grilled and it was really good. My wife drink a margarita with champagne and she said it was the beat margarita she has ever tasted. We went to visit the restaurant margaritas accompanied by my wife and two children on the recommendation of a friend! We ordered some margaritas and they were fabulous we ordered food for the children and we realized that the children's menu was very varied and good !! We ordered the fajitas and they were delicious and very good portion !!we had a nice time and hope to return soon! highly recommended this restaurant !! very good customer service !! Amazing service!!! We came from out of town and the website says they open at 10 and since we got off our flight to Tampa early we decided to stop here....even tho they really don’t open til 11 BUT they were so nice about it and let us sit and relax (with our luggage) until 11... I highly recommend coming here when in Tampa! Staff is extreme nice and very welcoming!!!!! When we come back we will definitely come back !!!! Loved it! Ps... the margaritas are absolutely AMAZING!!!!

My family and I had a great time at margaritas restaurant! I have tried Mexican food before but there is no place like this. Their food and drinks are excellent. I always order Fajita Margarita Bowl (grill steak or chicken) and the classic margarita is my favorite 👌🏼. We always enjoy live music while eating our food. Thanks for the hospitality! The food was really good, the staff very friendly and highly responsive. The restaurant is pet-friendly. We took our dog and ate on the patio. They immediately brought a bowl of water for him and kept refilling the bowl. I highly recommend this restaurant for great Mexican food.

I visited Margarita’s last week with my wife. We went for dinner and sat outside because their outdoor cafe is perfect for taking in the weather and to people watch. The Fajitas Mixta was awesome and she had the Shrimp Fajita. Service was on point and so were the Spicy Margaritas. Next time we won’t miss the Happy Hour. Arriba!

I ordered 4 carnitas tacos; when my order arrived, I only got three tacos. Assuming the waiter misheard me, I settled with there tacos because I filled up on chips and salsa since service was slow that day. Towards the middle of the meal, a fourth taco was brought to the table along with a plater of beans and rice. Unfortunately, the fourth taco wasn't the same as the other three, which were delicious. I wanted corn tacos with onion and cilantro, I was given a flour taco with lettuce encased in a goo of cheese. The waiter was nice, but I think there may have been too much of a language barrier, so I didn't want to make a fuss because I usually enjoy eating here, so I'm going to assume this was just a bad day for the restaurant. I do recommend eating here, I've always gotten great food and the drinks are nice too!

Very nice local Mexican restaurant without the South Tampa upcharge that most other mexican places have around here. Staff are always friendly, and the food is good but could use a little more flavor like others have suggested. Bar drinks are never made the same way twice, so keep that in mind if you have a favorite. I have had their jalapeño margarita at least 5 different ways. Always good, but never quite know what I am going to get!

I believe in signs. I pay attention to other people’s conversations with a keen ear. If curiosity killed the cat, and I were a cat I would be killed too many times a day and in various painful ways. I would look like road kill. Frankenstein’s bride with too much eye make-up.For a couple of weeks I kept overhearing people raving about a chicken soup. These innocuous comments happened randomly and were not actual recommendations made to me even when my friends know me to travel long distances for particularly great food. The first time I heard of this sopa de pollo, I was among friends who had just moved to Davis Island and had gone to Margarita’s. They did not mention the name of the place, it was simply a nonchalant: “I was exhausted about all the moving and wandered into this place close to home. I loved the sopa de pollo. It was exactly what I needed…yada, yada yada” and she moved on into a digression about house contracts and moving expenses. The second time this sopa de pollo returned to my life it was a nightmare. I had not listened too closely at the original appearance of “la sopa” in my life and had misconstrued the place I could find it. You see… at that time, my friend had two homes. I had assumed it was a Mexican place that had just opened by one of the two homes. I went mouth-salivating, anxiously pre-tasting the sopa, but walked into a Mexican place I did not know. I read, re-read, and reread the menu in complete disbelief. I called V.’s husband and asked him about it. He laughed maliciously as he added an “Oh, si!!! V. thinks it tastes like her mother’s soup. She loves that soup… but you are not only in the wrong place. You are in the wrong island. Good luck with trying a new restaurant that just opened up” (which is a no-no in my culinary safaris. NEVER EVER go to a restaurant and become their guinea pig). The third time the haunted “sopa de pollo” popped up into another conversation, I was trying a Mexican restaurant I had never visited before. My mouth was happy. House margaritas were flowing. Tequila bottles lined the bar. A man I barely know mentioned “la sopa de pollo” and how many times he drives his wife there just to have the soup. No other entrees. Just soup. He mentioned how tasty and large it was, and he did mention that I could find it at Davis Island. So, the signs were obvious and the universe aligned. I visited Margarita’s last week during lunch hour. The parking issue remains tough at any of the restaurants and stores of Davis, but eventually one was found. The place was packed. Mexican Artisan furniture and colorful woven tapices hanging from the ceiling took you elsewhere. Mexican music in the background which I love. If you claim you are going to take my mouth somewhere, elsewhere, please take my mind along for the ride as well. For a moment I became confused and believed I was a Mexican town amidst a medical mission. Blue scrubs everywhere. Margarita’s seems to be a favorite with the Tampa General staff. I was promptly seated. Menus were given and an order of margarita on the rocks promptly expedited. Refreshingly boozy. Just the way I like it. Of course I ordered the “sopa de pollo”… and yes, it is worth driving to. Plenty of fresh pico de gallo. Crunchy onion, fresh avocado and chicken… lemony… cilantroish… garlicky… for a while I delayed trying the mole in the enchiladas with Poblano sauce just because I wanted the sopa taste to remain in my mouth as long as it could. The mole was good, mild and rather on the sweet side. As most rice in Mexican restaurants, the one here was nothing to go crazy about. The rice is just a side order to fill plate space, but the enchiladas did shine by contrast. Servers were friendly and attentive. The place deserves many chances. Lots of food I would enjoy tasting. But… if they decide to not cook anything but the sopa de pollo. That’s fine by me too.

But I must say the meat (carnitas was rather on he dry side and not on the flavory side..sorry but I had to be said.
