Great English pub in Tampa. Indoor and outdoor seating available. A nice selection of imported and local craft beers on tap. Nice wine selection too. Great food and very friendly service. A fun place to go for either food or a few drinks.

John is the man! The kitchen rocks. Food quality and customer service superb. Clean bleach smell in the restaurant which makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Great musical play list, just enough televisions at the awesome bar, and can I just again stress how yummy the food and service is. What a gem. Thanks!

This was an amazing place to visit on my trip to Tampa! The food was delicious, the drinks were cold, and the service was AMAZING! Our drinks were always full, the food came out really fast, and again, tasted delicious, despite them having an issue with equipment in the kitchen and only having a limited menu. I highly recommend the scotch eggs and the pretzel! The bartender did an amazing job pouring drinks and keeping us from getting thirsty. I will definitely be coming back on future trips to Tampa! UPDATE: I went back when they had the full menu and they once again did not disappoint! The tikka masala is amazing - as is everything else.

New to Tampa- our first night went well with this excellent spot for dinner, and it’s so close to MacDill. We started with grouper bites, and followed with the chicken sandwich with truffle fries and chicken skewers with sweet potato fries. The local beer selection was limited; however the Free Dive and Crank were great pairings. And bonus- they’re dog friendly on the patio. 🐾

Excellent new executive chef! Made some great change ups in the menu. The shepherds pie with short rib meat and the meatloaf too - awesome stuff. Scottish Eggs - also top notch as was the grouper bites. I can’t say enough about the laid back atmosphere, Beatles music and attentive staff too We will be back.

Really enjoyed their fries and nice place the bathrooms were nice thank you so much and the pictures I will remember the great one was the chair with the bird. Great art. Thank you. ‘Allo, ‘allo I travel to Tampa frequently and when I do, usually find myself here at least once during the week. There’s a decent selection of beers on tap, some IPA and some mild British ales. Mad Dogs has some pretty good comfort food dishes like pulled pork Mac and Cheese, chicken pasta, burgers, and traditional British pub fare. Indoor and outdoor seating are pretty comfortable. It’s a place I’ll return when I just want to chill at the bar after work.

As a first time gun owner I had no clue what to expect and was pretty nervous. The guys at the shop could not have been more helpful. They spent a solid 90 minutes educating me and answering my questions. Can confidently say I will not shop anywhere else.

I read a few other reviews that mentioned the scotch eggs, so I gave them a shot. I was more than satisfied and will likely give this joint another go in my future travels to the area. Since the company I was with didn’t want to share I made a meal of it with a couple veggie sides and they were top notch too!

If you’re reading this during brunch hours head down to Mad Dogs & Englishmen, a cozy British gem on South McDill and try the Eggs Englishmen, poached eggs with blue cheese fondue sauce on steak strips freshly cooked to medium point and tomatoes. Their service was very friendly and attentive. Would love to return to try their dinner menu. Enjoy and remember that “8 days a week is not enough to show I care.”- The Beatles, 1964.

The food is always excellent, service depends? Sometimes great others not so much. Order delivery site is confusing. And was disappointed. No napkins or the vinaigrette. I expect that from McDonald's not a 55 dollar meal. I will still dine in but will never order again.

The first time I came here in January I was impressed. They are dog friendly and had some amazing chicken and waffles. The mimosas that Claire made were also nice and strong. The second time I was a little disappointed. I’m not sure if it was due to it being Valentine’s Day but the Brussel sprouts were burnt both times. The atmosphere is nice so I may give them another try.

Management is asleep! Good food, great service, but... it was SO F’n cold it wasn’t enjoyable. It was a nice night, like 65 outside, but they had the AC cranked so much that we felt like we were in a meat locker. We wanted to eat outside, but they wanted to put us inside for some reason. Also, this place may not be able to say it’s a pub if a couple dozen places within 2km have a better beer selection. It’s not bad, but could use some work. The food was unique, and well prepared. The runners were great. I feel a little bad giving it 4 stars with great service and good food, but we honestly had a difficult dinner because we were freezing the hole time. Please fix it! That should be easy... PS: your prices online are 20% less than your menu. Please update, borderline false advertising!

It’s a nice little pub with a distinct atmosphere and a charismatic bartender. We had the Shrimp Dumplings, Fish & Chips, and the Bangers and Mash which all tasted lovely and was presented well. The Toffee Cake for desert was the cherry on top of a really nice experience.

Oh man these scotch eggs were fantastic. Perfectly cooked and just a tad of heat. Fish and chips were on point. Maybe not the most authentic but it was definitely tasty. I'll be coming back for the shepherds pie next time.

Dog friendly..it was so much fun to visit as we are in town this weekend for a softball tournament and needed a dog friendly restaurant. Good food too...and they have meals for your fur baby as well for $5. Beef or chicken

One of my favorite haunts. Love the Sunday brunch, great music on Saturdays. Owner is very personable. Service can be slow as it is very popular. Dogs are welcome, good English beer, great food.

When looking at houses in Tampa, every time I’d drive by Mad Dogs there were always people there so shortly after moving to Tampa, it was on our list of places to try and it did NOT disappoint. Been there multiple times. HIGHLY recommend the fish & chip and what an amazing burger. If you go for brunch try the chicken and waffles

I’ve been meaning to try this place for a long time and I am very happy that I finally did. Friendly staff, great food, interesting decor, and dog friendly to boot Guinness on tap as you would expect. I had the fish and chips and it was some of the best that I have found in Tampa. Patio seating is available and while it was not overrun by pets they will provide a water dish for your dog if you are so accompanied. All in all this place is a gem. Breakfast is available as well and the breakfast dishes I saw go past my table had me wanting to come back. If you are in the area, this is a must try.

Legit little Irish pub in South Tampa with the core favorites. The staff was on top of things and very friendly. Go hungry - the serving size is big & delicious! Catch a ride to this place because there's not a lot of parking.

Poor service, fair food. For example, when we arrived with our pet - didn't get a bowl of water. Thankfully I had one handy and asked the bartender for water; because, either from lack of communication from the hostess to server, prevented having service for at least 15 minutes. Mind you, if you're reading this, google's popular times read it is was "less busy than usual". When we finally did get a sever, bless his heart, after asking the hostess for service he didn't offer specials nor brought out waters but he did bring a beer bottle I requested (which if you know of beer distributions - the bottles are not the most sanitary) *inside* the glass, like EW. I say this because we are down the street and could be potential regulars but NAH DAWG I'll stick to Cafe Paradiso.

As usual there are a few negative reviews where transplants and tourists express their disappointment at some deviation in their personal preference. I’ve been eating at Mad Dogs for many years and it’s always been a great experience. There’s no need for it to comport to anyone’s personal interpretation of a pub or to mimic another restaurant. It stands on its own and is well liked by locals. If you can’t tolerate different places having different people who do things their own way, find someplace where you’re more comfortable. But if you aren’t strangely Xenophon native Tampa residents have enjoyed Mad Dogs and you will too.

The restaurant is a South Tampa classic. It deserves the reputation too, the menu has evolved over the years and has managed to keep all of its best staples and improve everything else. Personally love the Shepards Pie and the Fish and Chips.

This was not what I expected. Was hoping for a British pub style restaurant, but is really more of an extremely friendly local hangout. You could tell the regulars, and the staff was very friendly, but it just wasn't the Pub I was seeking. American folk music playing. First item on the menu was humus... The only British fate was a mediocre fish and chips delivered with ketchup and tartar sauce. I had to request malt vinegar, which the brought out promptly. If you want a friendly, and warm pub, this is your place, just don't look for a cricket match to pop up.

I wish like many there were half star ratings. Excellent food, the fish and chips were on fantastic. The fries were seasoned well and not dry. The fish was breaded just right, not being too thick and over powering or too light and having the fish separate from the breading. The servers were polite and quick, they just didn't know some of the items on the menu.

I love this place!! The people, the atmosphere and the food are wonderful. Just one thing, I used to LOVE the hummus but the last 2 times I've been in, it has not been the same delicious hummus I've had at all my previous visits. I'm not sure what changed but please bring back the 'old' hummus.

First things first: no booze, just wine and beer. Luckily I was there for Sunday brunch so $5 mimosas would do. And good ones too. I tried the fried Brussels sprouts. GET THE FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS. I will go back just for those. I ordered what essentially is steak and eggs Benedict, and while not massive flavors, I found quite delicious. Dog friendly patio. This is just a cool spot.

Absolutely fantastic experience. We called ahead because we had a puppy, they reserved us a table on the patio, and already had water out for our dog. Eric (with a C) took care of us, and his service was so so fantastic. We were exhausted and starving from travel, and he brought out food in great timing. We all had fish and chips and it was so incredible. Outside of the UK, this is the best place for pub food. The serving size is huge, and definitely worth the price. The overall atmosphere of the place is great, and the inside has a very cool bar area, I would 100% come again, and if I were the owner, I’d be proud of the business I created. Good for you guys! Been coming here for many many years and never ever had a bad meal until tonight. The food has changed in a bad way. The fish and chips has zero flavor, these blackened grouper bites were not blackened just fried and taste less. I’m so disappointed. This was one the only places left that hadn’t screwed up their food and menu and now it seems like they have. I knew instantly a new chef was involved and I wasn’t wrong. This place wasn’t broken why are you messing with it! Makes me sad a bit. Hope it gets better!

Mad Dogs is the local watering hole. The happy hour which is M-Thur has great deals like $3 cutwaters. The food is always good. The staff is friendly. There's a reason it's always packed, it's a cool spot.

Great atmosphere, the owner is super friendly and enjoyable, and the food is solid. This was a regular drink spot for my wife and I prior to covid. They could improve the beer selection, but regardless, I highly recommend this for happy hour drinks with coworkers or friends, a quick bite with the family, or a casual date night.

We took our dog with us for Saturday brunch. The staff were very welcoming, bringing our dog a fresh bowl of ice water and his own bowl of grilled chicken. He was quite pleased with his meal. Our meals were superb as well. They had a wide selection of draft beer and wine. It was very relaxing with a definite British feel.

Place was great. We came because it was pet Friendly. Hidden Gem here. Eggs Benedict over the crab was perfect. Full English breakfast was super filling. Steak burger was cooked perfectly, goes great with a Harp Beer. Great pricing. Even better food. Highly recommended will come back.

I always like getting the fish and chips here. Mad dogs and Englishmen has stood the test of time. it's always been a great hangout spot in a variety of English food. Authentic English for sure. Good place to go when I feel like getting out of the corporate world. Even though I'm not a beer drinker this is a place where friends of mine who enjoy that beverage say that they have a good selection of high-quality product.

We had great "comfort food" meals (shepherds pie- "yum") & fish n chips( "yum") Both dishes were hot, fresh and tasty.. (the batter for the fish was seasoned well & crispy, keeping the fillet moist and hot; fillet by itself open to seasoning "to taste"- all good, though). Our host/server- Will was excellent...really made the menu & specials sounds tantalizing! Oh, try the "scotch eggs," - They are a unique, tasty treat! (A must share app). Great 1st experience :D

No fish special. We used to come here most Fridays, but they rarely have a fish special anymore. We love the atmosphere and service, but I don’t eat meat. I’ve mentioned it to servers and management but we are here again and no fish special. I know they’ve been through a few chefs, so maybe this one isn’t familiar with fish dishes. I got tired of the salmon abd don’t eat fried fish.

Delicious food, decent beer selection, cool atmosphere, and safe Covid system in place. They had menus under a plastic layer on your table so you didn’t have to touch them, staff were wearing masks, and they had hand sanitizer at each socially distanced table. Would highly recommend!

One of our all-time favorite neighborhood hidden gems!!! Hugo & his crew definitely bring British hospitality to the Bay area in a top-notch way. Largely a great experiance. Have had some issues with staff before... Food is typically great. Had a period where their fish was absolutely not fresh, and was lied to about it - but had another server come and correct their coworker. I have and continue to visod Mad Dogs frequently and will continue to do so. This is a great little slice of home, with an outdoor patio to the front, and comfortable seating inside. Dogs are always welcome on the patio, patrons expect to see dogs and their owners. This place is laid back, and good food with good service.

Nice atmosphere, cordial staff. Food is nothing to write home about, but there's a decent drink selection. Great place to bring your furry friend- they provide water bowls on the patio, and offer burger/chicken bowls for your pup at $5 each. It's fine.

I have a new favorite restaurant. Everything was flawless. Food, service, environment, aesthetics, and not only can you bring your dog, if you sit on the patio, they have dog bowls for water! Edit: Second visit, and I don't know how they did it, but it was even better than the last. Try the pub burger, but come hungry.

Love the mimosas...what is the major OJ?! Solid food. It’s just beer and wine but both selections are lovely. Outdoor pup friendly seating. The Chef sepals are with it-it can be spendy...but that beau e we get a bottle of wine with the mental then s glass of red with desert...lunch here is fun! Kidding...not really. That’s how we LUNCH! Upscale British pub with comfortable atmosphere and delicious food. In addition to the expected menu items (fish and chips, bangers and mash, shepherd's pie) there are other menu items such as red curry shrimp and New York strip steak. The chef and server were very accommodating in regards to my gluten intolerance and made great suggestions for adjusting sauces and side dishes to allow me to eat safely.

I'm visiting for the weekend and since I have my dog with me, I wanted to make sure I went somewhere that was pet friendly for lunch. Mad Dogs & Englishmen was perfect! Great place. Gets crowded at lunchtime. Good selection of beer, food is good and hardy. Fish and chips, big portions great fries. Try the truffle fries they are exceptional. The pub burger is also a great choice. Highly recommend for a wuicknbite in south tampa.

A good neighborhood place to grab an easy bite to eat or a pint. The steak burger and the fish and chips are fail safes. The specials are always worth considering. And the lobster ravioli is great for takeout. One of the better outdoor seating places.

On the surface Mad Dogs is an unpretentious British style pub. Yet the quality of the food and the service far exceeded what I expected from traditional pub fare. I had scallops that were perfectly prepared on a carrot puree with a mint sauce on the side. Dessert was an apple crumble with housemade icecream which was fantastic. The wine list is unpretentious, very reasonably priced and the waiter had Bern's level knowledge of the offerings. This is one of the best price performance experiences I have ever had.

Fun, close, hip and family coexist, nice staff, location, and Hugo the bartender. Mellow, not too crazy like Soho can be. Reminds me of a California cafe. Good food. And they project movies and videos on the wall of the building next door. Pretty cool!

Excellent and then some...I just had the BLT, but bacon was great, lettuce and tomato were perfect. The spicy aoli is a little spicy, not too bad. Just a suggestion. Order in side with a side of traditional mayo. Friends had scorch eggs and another had fish and chips. Everything was perfect. Only drawback was they did not have a non-alcoholic beer nor did they have actual brewed sweet tea, only unsweetened. Other than that perfect plus!!!

The location, the staff and atmosphere was one of the best in the greater Tampa Area. Mad Dogs and Englishman takes the time to go over the Menu so a 1st time visitors feel right at home. Your fun local pub! Been going to mad dogs for years and still live it. The owners are always there and checking on everyone and Hugo, the barman, is a delight with great jokes and and always warm greeting. Some favorites are the hummus (I know it’s odd that’s a favorite at a pub but it’s the best), crisp and fresh salad and sticky toffee cake!

My Lithuanian wife and I just moved here today, full day house hunting. Our very first Resturant in Tampa area, and we took our show dog with us. He slept in the breeze on the terrace. As my wife and I enjoyed great “European” food and beverages. Absolutely great chill spot!

I and my boyfriend were very excited about trying this place. We arrived and about 3 parties were waiting. They hostess never greeted anyone. She didn't smile and looked miserable. With that said, we are standing in the road that leads to the parking lot due to limited space. When it was our turn to approach the podium, we let them know we had reservations at 8 and it was just after that. They seated the two ahead of us after five or so minutes who were waiting on first available. After 5 more minutes,they gave us a seat near the door and by where the band was setting up and told us the band would be starting soon. The table was very wobbly. My boyfriend went out to explain that we would rather not sit there and would like different seats. After waiting about 5 more minutes, we were seated in the back at a booth which was to itself. Our waitress Hailey is really what made our experience there turn into a better situation. She was pleasant and attentive. The good was good. My boyfriend loved the burger. The beers were cold and the battered brownie was to die for. The band was perfect for the atmosphere. It was very busy when we were there so I'll blame the poor service at the beginning to that influence. We will try the place again in the future as the back half of our experience was great. Next time however, we will just go to the bar instead of dealing with the hostess.

Wow. Only make it by once or twice a year (dropping off taxes at RANDI RAAEN TAX SERVICES) Next door. Food always arrives hot off grill. The fresh cut fries firm crispy spicy and HOT. My favorite goes between the burger or steak sandwich. Today I washed it down with a couple Trooper ales. Friendly staff. Smile, relax, enjoy.

Mad Dogs is a low key, easily overlooked, crown jewel and for us it's become a tradition...fish & chips for lunch on friday or tuna tartar and New York strip for dinner. Call it an English pub, it's got great atmosphere inside and out (dog friendly outside). Service is impeccable yet warm and friendly...that inludes the wait staff, the bar staff, and the owners. A nice variety of menu items and great pub food. But the dinner specials...OMG. I'd say generally somewhere between excellent to fabulous. NY strip tonight...with mashed potatoes & fresh broccoli tied together with a wonderful truffel and gorganzola sauce. If you're in the area you should stop by to check it out....and welcome to the neighborhood.

Today 'Mad Dogs' was the venue today for fomer British military who live in the greater Tampa Bay area to celebrate the 100th "Remembrance Day". The ceremony outside under the awning at the front of the pub was superbly done with a two minute silence at 11, a wreath laying and 'taps'. Mad Dogs was also generous in providing some complimentary drinks. Thank you Mad Dogs, you could not have done it better. In British military parlance "BZ".
