Great night at Driftlight. The French onion soup was out of this world. Everything was perfect except steak was under cooked. We had to send it back and it was burnt when returned. It was super packed and it has an amazing atmosphere. It is located in the lobby for the JW Marriott and the lobby was bustling with people and the lobby bar was packed. Fun to be in a place being enjoyed by so many. The margaritas at the bar are the best. For desert we had the carrot cake. All I can say is wow. It was great.

Decent but over-priced bar food at the Driftlight Lounge, which is to be expected at this luxury JW Marriott. Sat at the bar for a late lunch and opted for the Bistro Salad ($14) with blackened grilled shrimp ($12 extra). Though they were large and delicious, there were only 3 shrimp added to the salad, so it felt a bit like a ripoff. The rest of the salad was yummy and decadent: mixed spring greens topped with scallions, tomatoes, bacon, blue cheese covered in a healthy amount of dressing. Avocado was not included, even though it's on the online menu.
The servers were attentive and friendly, which is why I rated this place 4 stars instead of 3.

We discovered Driftlight when we arrived to the hotel in the lobby area by the lobby bar. We originally booked “Six” their casual restaurant on the 6th floor but food this much more appealing. Good for us, but bad for them the restaurant was empty before game time at Amalie Arena located around the corner. Not sure this will always be the case moving forward.
We had definitely had attentive service! The menu was what you would expect at a steakhouse. Their food presentation was trendy, which was a pleasant surprise. We started with a pre hockey game drinks. Followed that up with a Caesar salad. Both our main dishes and a side of Brussels sprouts tasted as good as they looked.Sometimes you can’t fight the sweet tooth and we treated ourselves and split a dessert! (Forgot to take a pic cuz it was too delicious!) All in all a great find!

After visiting the Driftlight bar in the JW for dinner 4 days in a row, safe to say this spot is a winner. The drinks are creative & delicious (personal fav is the Farmer’s Margarita), the food, top tier especially for a hotel lobby (loved the salads, grouper tacos, ahi, & key lime pie) & the service is fantastic. Super impressed and excited I found this spot for my 5 day stay, stuck in Tampa. Thank you Brooke, Tony, & Brandi. You made my time in Tampa much more enjoyable!

Amazing desserts! By far the best carrot cake I've ever tasted, with a subtle hint of goat cheese in the creamy layers of frosting, and of course enormous clouds of fluffy, toasted meringue! The nutella Basque cheesecake was very good too; I'm not usually a big fan of cheesecake, but this one was perfectly creamy on the inside and accompanied by blood orange compote and an enormous mound of the most incredible sweet and salty honey-soaked fried potato curls! Sounds like a weird combo, I know, but trust me on this one! Can't wait to return to try more.

Only reason I’m giving this place 4 stars is because the employees need to learn to be more open to any guests no matter how they look or are acting. However the restaurant itself looked beautiful and it matched the menu and when I say the menu I mean the prices. The food was unexpectedly delicious. Most fancy restaurants I’ve been too the food was bland but this was so good, seasoned very well I forgot what the name of the meal I had but my sister had a salmon and that also was very well seasoned and delicious. After ordering we stopped getting looks from our server but every other server that walked past our table was just hovering and giving a look like we didn’t belong. The welcomeness I give a 0. But everything else a 5/5.

Tomahawk steak was amazing. The carrots too lol. Flavors were amazing. Thank you for making our anniversary a special one. Thanks JW for the champagne service to our room also. Simply an amazing stay!

Came here for the steak, and was very satisfied with what i got. The steak was done perfectly, crispy outside and juicy inside!

Excellent food and service. It's on the pricier side but that's expected for a nice steakhouse downtown.
I recommend starting with the Oyster Lobsterfeller. A unique twist on the classic.
Potato soup and french onion soup were both very good. I wish there were some chunks of potato in it. It's more of a blended soup but it's still very good.
Variety of steaks, most of them are pretty big, 16oz and up. We shared the 16oz Delmonico and it was cooked perfectly and delicious.
Highly recommend for a date night, special night, or if you just want a good meal!
