Top quality seafood at a premium price. Today I came in for some fresh red snapper. Great place for fresh fish, clams, oysters, lump crab and shrimp. I have been a customer for over 25 years. On special occasions, when I want the best for my guests in seafood, this is where I come. There is a huge variety of fresh and frozen product. Also, there are many cooking products available to enhance your meal. The excellent crawfish, clams, shrimp, shellfish they bring in keeps me "happy happy" when I do a seafood boil. When your ready to cook and treat your guests and self to some seafood, head over to Cox's Seafood.

Nice family owned small business, they sell some very nice pieces of fish, whole or filets, now the prices are a bit high but fresh fish isn't cheap. I personally love the black grouper, and when it's in stock the price is about $28 a lb, but it makes a very nice treat a couple times a month. Quality seafood at fair prices, what's not to like, oh the wait can get a bit long if they get a half decent crowd in there.

So, I tried for a week to call them but no one would answer the phone. I decided to go and take a chance on getting some oysters. While standing in line, I learned that you had to reserve them. How can I reserve them if they don’t answer the phone? There were signs everywhere apologizing for the lack of staff. I was beginning to understand what was going on. I started to walk out the door when the worker stopped me. I very nicely explained that I didn’t have a reservation for oysters.She not only got me the oysters but they were the best oysters we have had since being in Tampa! The gentleman in the back took them to my car! I was so blown away by how nice they were to me, I promise they WILL be my new seafood shop. Thank you so much Cox Seafood! Your customer service is mind blowing!

After moving to Florida 3 years ago from new England I have been looking for a decent fish shop and have tried several, to no avail till I stopped into Cox Seafood today. The selection was very good and that fish looked fresh. The prices were decent. I was most impressed with the woman who helped us, she was knowledgeable and when we asked a question she did not know, she was not afraid to ask someone who was able to answer. I will definitely be coming back.

We got our thanksgiving supplies here this year - shrimp, clams, crab legs, fish dip. All were awesome quality and reasonably priced. The folks working here are really nice and helpful and I appreciate that they were monitoring store capacity for social distancing. Don’t sleep on the spicy fish dip. We ate our first container so quick I went back the next day for 2 more.

I've been coming to the Tampa area for over 10 summers in a row and each time I'm in search delicious fresh sea food. I think I finally found the best place in Tampa to buy my fresh sea food and cook it back at my place. They are kind, knowledgeable, and very price friendly. The selection was exactly what I wanted and let me tell you a little secret. Get the famous crab cakes. OMG! You won't regret it. I will be returning next summer and you should check it out too!

This place is awesome! A family run business that's a local landmark. Great seafood...super fresh...if you don't have something specific in mind just ask for a recommendation or what's fresh that morning. Make sure to try the homemade fish spread. We've gone there a bushel of oysters and red grouper for 10. Going back for the amber jack and the Chilean sea bass. Staff is super friendly and helpful with info on how to prepare if asked. Don't worry if the line is long...service is quick. Enjoy!

This place is absolutely the best. I came from across town because I've always had good experience with their fish. Today, Christmas Eve, I showed up an hour after they closed. I could see that the place was just about cleaned up. Well, they opened the door sold me the tuna I needed for tomorrow and wished me a merry Christmas. I'll never buy seafood anywhere else... I have been here before, so I know that their products are great. I was disappointed though that my arrival at 605 pm would not allow me to buy whole fish because they said the back closes at 6 pm. It would be nice to know that online before driving over here and finding that out. That is my only problem.

Great selection. Great quality. I find things here like large head on shrimp and Corvina that are hard to find elsewhere. They have wonderful grouper and snapper filets, fresh and tasty. They also sell fish whole but they'll gut it or cut the head off or whatever you want. Service has always been good. It's a small, independent operation so you get the feeling they really care and that they are good to their employees. Great home made stone crab sauce too.

You gotta love having a fish shop close to home. The staff are knowledgeable and the assortment of fish bountiful. If you want something special, ask ahead and they will find it -- There is a wholesale component available close by and a Fisherman's wharf with boats and everything up at Tarpon Springs - this group is that the reel deal. No produce here but there is a Bodega exactly next door for the onions, tomatoes, and lemons. A+

Just moved to the area, very impressed at this little shop! We were able to enjoy a stonecrab feast without breaking the bank. House made Mustard sauce was delicious too. Staff was knowledgeable and recommended the perfect amount of food for my group. They have boats on the water everyday, this is as good as it gets Tampa! I'll be back soon.

Best fresh seafood market in Tampa. Great people and very helpful. Need to know what to do with the octopus you are considering, you're in the right place. Mostly just off the boat, but a selection of frozen seafood that you won't find anywhere else. Great people.

I walked into this business 7 years after moving to Tampa, and I regret not doing so sooner!!! The selection is quite varied, and though the prices may be higher than your local Walmart, keep in mind that this is family owned and you get THE LOCAL FRESH STUFF. They have both a frozen and fresh section. I bought squids (calamari) from the frozen section, but they have no labels, no "weird preservatives", it's just good ol squid in a bag put in a freezer. I'll be back soon for some fresh fish. 100% recommended.

The fish is great but they really need to re-think their Christmas orders. I had pre-ordered and had to wait in a line for about an hour and a half. First come first served is the policy which I think is unfair for those of us who just need to pick up and pay. The folks that hadn't ordered early took forever deciding what they wanted and would go back and forth. There should be a line for the pre-orders and a line for the walk ins.

I can't imagine going in here and not coming out satisfied. Whether I buy something or not. This place is a local family Tampa staple and one of the last of its kind. For good reason! Fresh, local fish and other hard to find small market options as well as fresher versions of what you get from the bigger markets. At competitive prices. It's always clean. Tell me where else I can go to get fresh oysters to take home and shuck myself,slurping over the kitchen sink, and risking accidental suicide with a slice to the old atery..cuz I don't know one. They have a range of everything from Crawfish in from New Orleans or King Crab legs from God knows where, while also getting the most amazing fresh grouper, mullet, and sheephead (a.k.a the poor man's lobster) from out of our own backyard......backbay! You know what I mean. They will cut almost anyway you can think of if you know how to ask nicely. Handy with the knife! This place gets busy so take a number (or ask who got last) and chill while you pick out the necessary accoutrements . So, next time your watching travel channel and you get hungry for something good, just go to Cox Seafood. Love this place. Close around 6:30.

This is a great Tampa market. I always seek out fresh seafood when I visit Florida. This is a great small, local market. Eventhough they are small, everything is very fresh. They had whole, wild caught tilapia. They expertly filleted the whole fish for us. They also have a great selection of frozen items from crawfish to gator meat fillets znd sausages.
