Reviews of Carmine's Restaurant & Bar - Ybor

Wow, where do I start? This is a fantastic experience all around. We loved warm banana chips (starters), cuban bread (tastes similar to garlic bread but without garlic) and Italian salad with cranberry and walnuts, absolutely mint. Do ask for a lemon slice and squeeze it onto the dip provided with banana chips as that elevates the taste certainly. Chloe who served us has been fantastic. A good way to end our US trip.

Family restaurant central in Tampa, on a nice historical avenue. Carmine has a wide selection of pasta, sandwiches, soups and meat or fish dishes. We ate here with a group of 8, service was friendly, efficient and fast. We had eggplant parmesan pasta, clams pasta, steak and tried the fried crab specialty. All dishes were tasty and not too salty. They have a very nice beer selection which is worth exploring!

We had been to the Fair and wanted some real food! Our choice was to visit Ybor and grab a Cuban to go. Carmines fit the bill! Friendly servers, great atmosphere is great. We enjoyed nice ice cold beers and brushetta before taking Spanish soup, Cuban and Flan home to enjoy. Everything was delicious, the soup was so good I can't wait for more. I recommend Carmine's to anyone yearning for some authentic Cuban fare.

This is the first time we have been to Carmine's in years. The food was good but didn't seem to be quite as good as it was years ago. That could just be that the Cuban sandwich I had, although good, did not compare to the Cuban sandwiches I've had at Cafe Mazaryktown. Same with the black beans and rice. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was good.

The staff was extremely friendly and very service minded. Our bartender, waitress and even Conselua who cleared tables were all AWESOME! The deviled crab is so delicious! We tried two different types of drinks.. the My Sherona and the Cigar City Old Fashion. You won’t regret trying them. The Cuban and Spanish bean soup were also yummy. Love the history and the old building were you can sit and watch people walking along the Ybor streets. Don’t forget to have the flan for dessert.. it is made in house and the best I’ve had!

I loved loved loved the Jumbo Devil Crab! It definitely took the show.
We started with drinks, whiskey is my go to. We had the Old Fashioned which was very strong but it is a high proof of whiskey.
Of course I had the Jumbo Devil Crab for my appetizer and enjoyed every bit of it.
I tried the Crab Enchilado aka Crab Pasta and the meat sauce was very thick. It was good but the texture of the meat sauce was too heavy.
Overall I enjoy the experience I would return but would not order the Crab Enchilado.

A spur of the moment stop in for dinner. Got right in with no wait. Server Josh was running around helping everyone and was very good. Ordered the grilled sausage appetizer, it had a lemon and olive oil tipping which was good, the sausage was average. For dinner, I ordered the baked ziti. It was baked really well, cheese was good. The sauce was again average had a decent sweet taste to it.

This beautiful restaurant in the Ybor district of Tampa Bay is a must. I bought two of their famous "Deviled Crab Cakes" to go. They were fantastic. A unique shape and flavor. It's a must for any seafood lover! Highly recommended!

The food was very good! Everything was flavorful. The server was friendly. I wish they had outside seatings so that we can enjoy the food in a nice weather.

I visited Carmine’s today 10/24/22 and was amazed by the service and food! I sat at the bar and had a great bartender/sever that was very fast and attentive. The glass of white sangria he made was delicious, he brought over the silverware after I ordered food and he suggested adding cheese to the garlic bread. I have been to the Carmine’s up in NY which has no affiliation to this location and it is almost the same quality.
The angel hair pasta was cooked to perfection, there was plenty of sauce, the cheesy garlic bread was delicious and the chicken parmigiana was the best that I have had in the Tampa area. I will be back and can’t wait to enjoy another Italian dish at this amazing restaurant!
Bannapolis Hugh
Grouper Bites were fantastic. Alfredo Shrimp Pasta also excellent, Shrimp Caesar was perfect as was the staff, very helpful and friendly. Wow!
Brittany Leibbrand
I’ve never had food as amazing as Carmine’s. The Chicken Marsala with Angel hair pasta and Chicken Parmesan had me on cloud 9. Definitely will be coming back. Service was amazing as well. Staff was really friendly and recommended amazing dishes.
Arin A
Food was just okay. Not much flavor. Devil crab was not thrilling.. it was too breaded for me and I did not taste the crab. The server was very friendly and sweet.
Ariana Santacruz
Food was good, but not mind-blowing/bursting with flavor! Although I really liked their calamari. Also really expensive

The decor is perfect for the historic part of Tampa. Food was good, service a little off. We were planned party of 20, and the restaurant was.packed. The servers were doing all they could to keep up and kept a positive attitude.
Nieves Sierra
A little pricey for lunch but after seeing the portion it was well worth it. Best grouper sandwich so far I have eaten in Ybor.
Michelle Reed
My business partner and i run EverythingTampa813 on Instagram and Everythingtampa on YouTube. We showcased our drinks, meal and dessert on our Social media. Our lunch was wonderful!!
Cassie Baker
Great deviled crab and coconut cream mojitos. Laid back atmosphere and friendly service. Try the Spanish Bean Soup! My boyfriend's dad is Cuban and this is his go-to in Ybor so you know it's good.
Kristy L
I live in the area and have been here a few times, but just recently we went and our server was Gail. She was phenomenal!!! The food is great as well! I appreciate how it seems the place has tried to keep some of the original integrity of the building, meaning it has the old exposed brink inside and the lights on ceiling have that much older style to them! I have never had a bad meal here or service, but wanted to write this more for Gail....she was so hospitable and if this was my first time going there, she would be a big selling point of why I would return! Gail, we loved your service and you are such a sweetheart! Hope to have her again when we come back!
Shatoria L. Smith
My food was bomb.com as always and worth every single cent. Great value, exceptional prices. Carmine's never disappoints. Can't wait to go back.
Tiffany DiPanni
Great experience at the bar. Friendly and attentive service, great atmosphere. Food was good too!
Emma Broussard
Called to make a reservation for 5 adults, a two year old, and two infants under 1. The person on the phone said, “okay, sure, just come on in.” They never asked for my name. When we arrived the hostess was annoyed, “I hate it when they do that! No one tells me anything.” She told us that technically we would be a party of 8, and their rule was if you had “6 or more, it can only be one check and an automatic 20% gratuity. Don’t shoot the messenger.” We let her know that was fine. The same woman let us know that she “couldn’t find any high chairs.” Our waiter, Damien, was lovely. Cuban sandwiches and black bean soup was incredible! Loved the sweet plantains. Food and service was great. Minus one star for the rude lady and bungled “reservation.” Pay to park as well. Prices were high, but expected that in that area.

The food is always on point and the service is friendly. Great spot to grab food in Ybor.
Beth Mors
They were able to accommodate a large group. Food was AMAZING from appetizers to dessert. Our waiter David did a great job with jokes and helpful suggestions for dinner. A must go for all 11 of us! Appetizer of Tuna was the best Tuna I’ve had at a restaurant in years!
Miss A
Great Italian food! Definitely had leftovers! Mango margarita was so good🙌🏾🙌🏾
Dave Walton
Stopped in for lunch. 1st time there and was pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, service was great. Will definitely be back.
Lisa SSELC
So good! My favorite was the Cuban and black beans/yellow rice 🤤 …
Meghan Yorks
Best Cuban in Ybor! Yellow rice and black beans were delicious. Everything fresh and staff so nice!
Monica Emmons
Great atmosphere, great food!
Finally got the opportunity to get to Ybor, and I'm glad I did!! We made reservations and got seated immediately! Michael, our server was quick to greet us and offer some quick suggestions, me being me,got my usual martini! This one, espresso!! It was fabulous!! Beer was cold, wine chilled properly:)
For food starters, cuban toast is a must! Get two!!!! At the table we had ahi tuna, meatball starter, crab ball, chicken salad and finished off with flan!!! It was all very good!! Service was great!!! Only downfall was automatically adding gratuity..while I understand these times are different,I fear adding a tip will hinder the staff...maybe not. We compensated as the grat wasn't enough..some may not...better verbiage regarding the gratuity would also be helpful. Other than that...I say go and enjoy!!!!!
Haus
It is definitely not the Carmine's of years past! We had 6 people dining, so a variety of food was ordered. The deviled crab was the best offering along with the black beans. It was plump, stuffed full of crab, and the breading was perfect! The fried green tomatoes need to be cooked more, and we're slightly underdone. The Cubans were not pressed well and therefore threw off the whole vibe of a pressed Cuban. The Spanish bean soup was good but was served cold and was sent back to be heated. The black beans were tasty, but the yellow rice was flavorless. Overall, it was just mediocre, and we will not be running back to Ybor to visit anytime soon.
Rebecca Hartnett
The pressed Cuban was good but would have been better if warm on the inside. Fried green tomatoes and calamari were ok. I didn’t care for the deviled crab but my boyfriend really liked it. Sangria was pretty good too.
Hal Sylvers
The food is not as good as it used to be. I think they have forgotten to be unique. People will pay for quality, so adjust your food cost to that rather than sacrificing your unique favor. Lump Crab meat taste better than the cheaper blue crab meat. Add some seasoning to your food like before it's ok we know we're cheating on our diets.
Sharon Strappy
The restaurant was cozy and hostess friendly. Waitress greeted 2 of us, returned w/appetizers 22min later, then dinner 35min later. Steak & Grouper nuggets were yummy! Never refilled water, and was defensive when I told her Chicken Marsala didn't taste good. Chicken was dry & hidden under a tasty mushroom sauce. Horrible cust serv,.... they lost 2 customers 😒
Sandra Wright
For years I've come to Carmine's mainly for they're deviled crabs which I always considered the best in Tampa..... but not anymore. The crab I ordered was smaller, had too much breading which was overcooked and I wasn't even sure if it was really crab inside. I cannot make comment on anything else on the menu as that is all I ordered but I find it so very sad that the best crab in Tampa is no longer. The service was okay but when a couple came and sat at the booth next to us their table was wet. They nicely asked their hostess to please have someone dry it off. Without answering them she turned around went to the counter in the eating area grabbed a rag came back and threw it on the table and walked away. My last comment is that the restaurant really needs to be repainted and updated as does the women's restroom. That black paint slapped all over the dining room is not inviting at all. Lest you think I'm a constant complainer, please know that I was born in Ybor City and I'm familiar with all of the restaurants that this family has owned and operated and have always liked them all including Carmine's in Ybor; but the family seems to have lost interest in this particular location. It's very sad.

Was a great place to eat lunch. Staff was patient as we had a large party and were very friendly. Drinks were great and food is incredible. 10 people got different items and everyone was happy with what they got.

Prior to coming to Tampa, I've never had a pressed Cuban sandwich, or the deviled crab. Two very great flavorful dishes. The pressed Cuban sandwich really captures the heart and soul of the Latin culture of Ybor city. The deviled crab, you may think is just another crab cake, but it's not. It's real crab meat, cooked to absolute perfection. I'm from Jersey, Carmine's is the place to eat. If you're ever in Ybor City go here. My waitress was Gale, she's very engaging and has the nicest personality. If she's there at the time of seeing this review, and you go there tell her Jersey sent you.
Jennifer Ruebeling
Super Old, but good food, especially that Deviled Crab that they are known for and I don't even eat Deviled Crab. I would definitely check it out. It's worth the money and dish. Thank You!
Peter Ghizzone
We had a delicious dinner. The Tampa Cuban sandwich was great, but the side of Spanish fried rice was my favorite. We also got an order of deviled crab which came out very hot and crispy. When I cut it in half, it was steaming inside and soft and moist and so good with hot sauce.
Joe Pezzulich
An Ybor classic! Great Cuban food and welcoming atmosphere. Choose from entrees, sandwiches or salads. Full bar. Great tasting food and friendly service.
Ashley Vega
Okay service, okay food, not truly authentic Cuban. Nice location. 4 stars for the Cuban bread being amazing! Beans and rice are very Americanized.
Tricia DeGraff
Our server was very kind and informative. She gave some suggestions and that’s is what we got. I got and Italian dish and hubby a Cuban dish. Lots of flavor. We will be back.
Beep; Boop Beep!
We made the trek from Bradenton to Ybor City with high expectations for a tremendous Cuban sandwich. Beating the Friday evening mad-house that Ybor can become, we were pleased to see only a small handful of tables seated upon our arrival, but alas the service was still what we would consider subpar. We aren’t highly needy folks, but from the delay to even be greeted upon our arrival, to getting our drink order, to follow-up service it was all fairly poor. I don’t know if they were understaffed or just ambivalent, but it wasn’t their finest showing. Heck, at least they were consistent throughout, so there is that. When ordering we tossed in one of their $8 jumbo crab cakes and it wasn’t bad, it was big, no doubt about that; +1 for the plywood marketing board out front. The Cuban was what we would consider “just ok”. Wasn’t bad, yet didn’t deliver what we would expect from a long-standing Ybor City eatery. Restaurant was clean and carried that Ybor feel, just wish the experience would have been better.

Sooo Carmine’s Restaurant and Bar - Ybor was no t what we expected for a restaurant in Ybor. We typically expect mediocre food since that’s what we’ve experienced thus far. To our surprise our food selection here was sooo good I finished my plate. We sat at the bar like we do on most random nights which was chill. It took a while for the bartender to greet us at the pretty empty bar so they have to work on that. They made up for it with the food and the helpfulness of the bartender in choosing our dinner. The decor was nice but nothing spectacular. A good spot for a date night or meet up with friends. We will definitely come back.
What was ordered: Carmine’s Lasagna / Grilled Italian Sausage
Carmine’s Lasagna = Umm mm good with flavors and just the right amount of cheese
Grilled Italian Sausage = Fresh sausages cooked just right for this tasty dinner

Busy! Get a window seat! Very entertaining! Terrific Plantain Chips!
Best Palomia steak I've had! I added the garlic & lil from the chips to it! Cuban sandwich is awesome! Friendly & good service!
Nancy Boles
Excellent food. Service was a little slow, but like all restaurants, they are trying to hire. Our servicer was very nice and gave us great attention. Location was nearthe middle of Ybor.
Melina Castro Laporte
I went last night with my husband because I was looking a place to have Milanesa 😁😁😁. I change the side and had it with some fries. My plate was really good, the milanesa and the fries were exactly what I was looking for. My husband had the Cuban roast pork and he didn't like it so much, he said the pork didn't have too much flavour. Both came with a Spanish salad that was very good. We had tap beer. Good place!
Chanel Placeres
I come here solely for the devil crabs with extra hot sauce. The jumbo/large devil crabs are not as good as the minis. The yellow rice and black beans are not good and the Cuban is ok. So if you want a devil crab full of flavor get the mini devil crab.
Dr. Deborah Wells Pacheco
Understaffed. Did not have grouper but server didn't know. Def an off day for them. Been there before and it seemed nicer and food better.
Guneet Chadha
Great Cuban food ..... slow service but worth the experience.
The portion sizes are generous but they don't have complimentary Cuban breads. I ordered the Milanese Steak (with Marinara sauce) which comes with Black Beans and Rice and also a generous serving of Salad, but no complimentary bread prior to the meal.
Service can be slow but my server was really nice, just overwhelmed. It can take a long time to get seated.
Mike T
My family went last night for the first time. I had the lasagna my wife had the chicken parmigiana with angel hair pasta. It was very good. My daughter had the cheese burger and enjoyed it. She didn’t care for the fries though. Our waiter was very nice but not very attentive to our table. I had to search him down to get our drinks refilled. But that’s the only negative thing I have to say. Overall a great time. We will be back to try other dishes.
Charles Bernardo
Best Steak Milanesa in Tampa, came with a Spanish Salad and black beans and yellow rice, EXCELLENT service and food quality, must eat here!
Been eating here since they were on Buffalo Ave in the 60's , always great food.
Travis Goff
Was pretty good, would recommend. Would have given 5 stars if there were more menu options. Picture is of shrimp scampi appetizer, was really good
Robert Rodgers
I have been going here for many years. Good food and service, and we usually sit near the front windows so we can look out over 7th Avenue.
Jimmy McKnight
Had the chicken piccata with angel hair my friend had the roast pork with the black beans and rice all of it was very good had excellent taste and was juicy and not dried out would highly recommend it
Randy Stidwell
Had the Cuban sandwich 🥪 very good bread was fresh toasted. The staff was very friendly and kind .
Randy Sims
Everything was good. Had the cuban, they add salami to it, hadn't had it like that before. Flan was lucious.
Reshawn Wynn
Food was decent. Nothing to amazing though. We had shrimp and grits, peanuts and gumbo.

I went to Carmine's for a birthday celebration. I ordered the half order of seafood Enchiladas. It is blue crab meat in a tomato marinara. It was good but it was lukewarm at best. But we had a party of 35 people. I thought the serving was small, and pricey. However I did enjoy the cheese stick and the fried green tomatoes. Our server was great. Their fries were good made with fresh potatoes. Most items were Ala carte.
Jill Armistead Stack
I attended a meeting there with around 25 people. There is no real meeting room/space but we were off of the main dining area. Service was horrible. We had a reservation so I think they should have been prepared, but we had one waitress. When our bills came we were shocked to see that an automatic 20% gratuity had been added. No wonder our waitress wasn't concerned with prompt service. I ordered the chicken tenders and there was nothing tender about them! Over breaded, over cooked and clearly out of a frozen food service bag! Not good.
And it is very loud in there.
Jessey A.
Had Cuban sandwich (pretty good but not great) with black beans, yellow rice and onions (yummy). The restaurant was freezing but we sat quickly and service was good.
Ross Thomson
Good place. Ambience a bit loud. Roast pork dinner was tasty, but it was sliced pork. Like it came from the pile of sandwich meat. Service was good, but not excellent.
Zeus Rocha
The food and service was good. Felt like an off night with them. Will give another try in the future.
Kelley Sanchez
I highly recommend this restaurant, Kimberly was very committed to great service and was very friendly. I had a great time eating their delicious food at the restaurant. The atmosphere was awesome and every food on the menu was great. Thank you for the excellent customer service!
patricia mitchell
They have a delicious, Cuban & Italian menu, that is true Tampa comfort food. The restaurant is always updated and impeccably presented, the staff kind, and the Ybor view/vibe adds hevily to Carmine's charm.
They use la Segunda cuban bread, which is a true star in their Cuban sandwich. The italian food is accompanied by a delicious marinara, and the salads are fresh, and well dressed. If you have never had a devil crab before get one, as this is the best place in Tampa for this treat!!!
Tom Terrific
It was alright. As far as real Tampa Cuban sandwiches go, it was disappointing. Large satisfying portions but overloaded with ham and skimped on the pork and salami.
I’d pass on the onion rings. The crab was okay.
Of the five of us, we all left full but unenthused by the experience.
Bill McClure
My wife and I sat at the bar and had Carmine's excellent Cuban sandwiches. Excellent bread, fast service even though they were packed. We had a great time! We'll definitely make it one of our regular stops.
Donald Harwood
Delay upon entry, finally recognized as a customer. After seated, after waiting, finally had to ask service staff for some service. Thinking we were seated in an area that maybe had not been coordinated as "open". Meal was fairly good. Will try one more time.
Taylor Smith
Pretty good Cuban/Italian restaurant that’s a little on the pricey side. I ordered the steak milanesa lunch special and thought it was delicious(very good salad and red sauce). Space is open and modern, but unpleasantly loud even after the lunch rush with only a few people in the restaurant. Server could not have been nicer, when she came around. This is not the place to go if you’re in a rush or looking for a quiet meal. If you’re looking for a lively, fun spot this is the place for you.
Rick Kiv
I've been before and always sat at a table. Service and food has always been good. Last night I sat at the bar and service was terrible. Wasn't very busy yet I'd wait 10+ min with an empty glass and the other couple had empty drinks too. Hope it was the exception.
Jason Turner
One of the best Cuban sandwiches you can get in Tampa or ebor. Pair it with a devil crab and you'll be happy happy.
Sarah Jantz
On vacation from Michigan. They cooked our fish that we caught on a charter fishing trip to perfection (we let them know ahead of time we were coming with fresh fish). The owner was there and stopped by multiple times to check on us and converse with us (he even posed for pics with our fish!). We also ordered calamari (awesome!), marinara pasta (great!), fettuccine alfredo, sauteed mushrooms, chicken soup, chili and onion rings. Everything was amazing. For dessert we ordered the cheesecake and key lime pie- both made at a local place called Mike's pies. They were both soo soo good. The owner threw in a complementary order of their homemade flan, which is to die for (it is nearly impossible to find good flan!).our server Jordan did a fantastic job. The atmosphere is low key, comfy and looks like it was decorated by HGTV (in a good way).
10 outta 10, would recommend.
Adam Buchanan
Had the Cuban Roast Pork. It was delicious. One star off for the ambiance though. Interesting decor and layout, but it was very loud. Had a hard time talking to my dinner companions because we could hardly hear each other.
Elssy Cabrera
My Husband and I went to Carmine's for the first time over the weekend and the manager Kimberly was very attentive, sweet and knowledgeable.
The drinks and food were phenomenal! We will back soon with more friends. Thank you Kim!
Jay Sauls
Food was surperb! OMG, the rice and black beans - yes rice and beans - were amazing!! The Tampa Cuban sandwhich was pretty good as well. But the service..trainwreck city. Took an hour to get our food and the place wasn't busy.
Management did step up and help with the bill. They were also very apologetic.
Asia Tucker
Their Fried Green Tomatoes and Green Beans are extremely mouth watering must try
Ryan Murphy
The unfortunate part was that the lady bartending had half the restuarant to take care, so service was slow. And while, as a business owner, I understand the challenges of hiring the quantity of staff you need currently, a quick look around revealed lots of employees with 10% of her workload milling about to include the manager.
Fish bites were A+
Drinks a solid B, B+
Cuban sandwich D
Dale Gerstenberger
Service was extremely slow, apps came out same time as food, very expensive for local prices. Been here before and had good experiences, probably won't go back.
Thomas Poirier
Excellent Cuban press sandwiches and friendly service. Another short staffed establishment stepping up, no excuses, providing Great customer service!! 👍👍
Thank you.
Brent Tucker
Food was ok service was ok. Not the best of ybor, but a nice place to stop and grab a bite to eat. The drinks were the star here. The old fashioned was very good.
Crystal Heasley
Service was AWESOME! And food was absolutely AMAZING!!! 100% recommend you eat here. You won't be disappointed!
yishu kao
When we went there, kind of wait a while in the seating area and no server cake help. Food is ok. Not as expected. Service is soso...
ladonna alvarado
The food was good we really only had appetizers and drinks but our server Madison was awesome 👌 …
Greg Carlile
Recently visited this Ybor restaurant on Memorial Day and was sadly disappointed. A good friend of mine was visiting the area and they wanted to go here for lunch. I ordered the Cuban lunch special and my friend got the Cuban roast pork sandwich.
My Cuban was good but I've had much better in the greater Tampa area. There was a very small amount of traditional meats that you get on the sandwich but at least the bread was fresh. The side soup was warm at best but very flavorful. My friend's roast pork was much better than my Cuban but their soup was also just warm.
I hope to go back again someday to give them another try but given the numerous other choices to eat in Ybor, I'm not quite sure if I will.
Heidi and Peter
Great food, service is a bit off. Server didn’t know how to pronounce simple menu items. Tuna was great. Cuban sandwich worth trying. Plantain bean and rice staple was good. Love that they honor the original features of the restaurant but the bathrooms need attention and upgrades.
Neomaya Davila
Clean, and professional, with great service. Im not to crazy about the fries. The style is weird, 5 out of 10. Cuban and the chicken parm were 7 out of 10. Return customer earned
Char Nettles
In the heart of Ybor City, so you get to see the sights and culture of the area! Fast, friendly service, a big enough space to handle a crowd, and delicious!! Especially the calamari! (I hate it when it's chewy, but this was perfect).
Chelsea Smothers
My server Josh’s went above and beyond to make sure our service was A-1! It was our first time here and he was very patient with our questions and suggested the best entrees, they were delicious! Thank you Josh Your Amazing!
Kevin Brown
Loved this authentic Italian and Cuban restaurant. With an interior with a nod to its Ybor City roots this restaurant as everything to make you feel welcome and comfortable. With exposed brick everywhere and fixtures straight out of restoration hardware half the time I was just soaking everything in and observing how beautiful the setting. The food is amazing. We had a large party so I sampled lots of goodies. I had the chicken italiana. Grilled chicken with a lemon butter cream sauce topped with roasted peppers and a side of angle hair pasta and sautéed mushrooms. Couldn't have been better. I tired the linguine with red sauce and with white. I liked the red better but they were both great. I tried the best meatball sandwich I have ever had. Cuban bread, flavorful meatballs, fresh mozzarella. The best. I will definitely visit the next time I am in the neighborhood.

Kudos to Bradley (attendant)!
I went in as looking for “out-of-town” seeking for a “good Cuban sandwich”
Which I did!
Great Cuban sandwich!
More-over! I was admired by Bradley’s professionalism while there was a customer’s bad tab attitude; while experiencing “after-all-drinking-attitude”
Good ethics’s in business for Bradley!
Over all.
“Cuban sandwich was great!”
A most go place!
Mark Albert
An Amazing place. Great with friends or if you're on a date. The food was savory & the drinks were our of this world! Friendly staff will guide you in the right direction. Definitely stop by. This place is a No Brainer!
Theresa Kennedy
The food was very good. The service lacked quite extensively, the barmaid dubbed as our server, she was overwhelmed and frustrated, we waited over 20mins to check out. If I go back I wouldn't let them seat me by the bar, it wasn't a pleasant atmosphere.
Mari Hernandez
Service was good. I was disappointed in the amount of crab in the Enchilado. The Bruschetta salad plate as well as the Calamari were exquisite though.
Mike Shillinger
First time trying their Cuban and it was pretty good. The bread was nice and crunchy!

Came here with a group. Seated relatively fast for a Saturday night and no reservation. Thoroughly enjoyed my service and chicken piccata.
Barbi Gearhart
The food was really good. The service was slow but otherwise a good dinner
Adam Anderson
Love the overal vibe, layout, and decor. The staff was really friendly, and the food was 10/10. We will definitely be back!
Ayanna Rowland
Food was ok.. The Cuban sandwich wasn't what we expected. We got seated quickly. The server was excellent. The service is better than the food. The drinks were very good and flavorful.
Sarai Acosta
Kim is honestly an outstanding manager and the food was 10/10 so good as well as the service. Will definitely be back.
Antonia Lutz (Nana-Tee)
Food was ok. Not a authentic taste. But I am snobby when it comes to Italian...
Mary Wood
David was an excellent server and his recommendation was spot on. Next time we are back in town will definitely revisit.
Mark E.
Cuban Roast Pork D freaking licius!!! Service was awesome as well. Love this place.
Matt Martin
Dj Dave thank you for making my experience a great one and the beautiful bartenders for making sure to keep me with a cold drink in hand
Taylor Adkins
The food here is absolutely amazing, never been disappointed. However, the experience I just had was awful. We saw our waitress twice and that’s when we sat down and when she brought our food. It was not busy either. We never got more water or any kind of refill. When we finished eating we sat there for atleast 20 minutes until we had to go find somebody else and ask for the check. When she brought the check she put it on the table and didn’t say a word. Again, the food was amazing as always but the service was 0/10.
Jared Garfinkel
We ordered fried calamari and Cuban sandwiches. The fried calamari was good, but my fiancee thought the tomato sauce was sweetened. The Cuban sandwiches were served cold. They were just okay. Would not recommend.
christina ayres
Had a wonderful dinner last night! Chicken Piccata was delicious! Ryan was our bartender and he did not disappoint. We were ambushed at the bar by a group of people pregaming for the Bon Joni concert and they were a bit too much for us. So we were moved to a table and Ryan was kind enough to accommodate us all the same. Wonderful food, atmosphere, and staff!
Chris Hahm
The Roast pork dinner is great. The meat is soaked in the roasting juices to make it very moist and seasoned perfectly
S Jones
We went on labor day for the first time for our daughter 1st birthday. We was greeted and seated with no wait time. We ordered Chicken Parmesan and Carmine's Baked Chicken. Both meals were excellent no complaints. The staff was great we will be returning back and would recommend it to everyone to try you won't be disappointed.
Michael Broering
The meatballs and pasta was very good. Meatball sub was also very good
Michele Schrader
Great quality and large portions. We loved going down to Ybor City again.
David James Cahill
The relaxing atmosphere and great craft beverages is what you come here for! I was completely surprised by the Cuban sandwich. I mean it’s a sandwich but looked more like a work of art and the black beans and yellow rice were tender and delicious like they had cooked the beans for hours! The server Alexis C even made sure I had the vinegar and olive oil for my onions just the way I like and never let my drink get empty either! Definitely would recommend trying this out while your passing through.
Jim Novitsky
Excellent service. Food portions were pretty small and I got charged $30 for a small portion of grouper which I dear said 24 on the menu. The food was good.
Kelle M
The atmosphere, the service and the selection are superior but pale in comparison to the amazing food. My sister, brother in law and I had the pleasure of dining there last night and walked away very pleased. My brother in law had never had Cuban food where as my sister and I have had it quite frequently, our step father was from Cuba. We know the real deal and THIS IS IT!! My brother in law was blown away by the flavors. We had the BEST Cuban sandwiches ever, rice and beans and onion rings. None of it disappointed. Definitely will be back again!! Thank you for a great meal💕
the raid was boring so now i have to do it myself
Hello, Florida. I'm on vacation, so don't mind me reviewing your food.
This place was great. The deviled crab goes well with the hot sauce as a flavor enhancer (emphasis on enhancer). But I think the meal shines with the Cuban. Never had one of those Cubans back at home. Gently received in my stomach, alongside the delicious yellow rice and beans. Beautiful stuff. Great staff. Would do it again.
Alexandria Cui
The Cuban sandwich and crab appetizer is delicious, and the service is very fast!
Betty Pritchard
The restaurant is very nice inside and the appetizers were great! However, the wait staff is extremely unresponsive and argued when I asked to have my meal which came cold to be warmed up. It did not turn out very good in the end, and was brought out in a to-go box, so I felt rushed out. Appetizers and atmosphere was good but not good enough to return.
D Newman
This restaurant serves Cuban and Italian food. We had the Cuban food for dinner. Cuban Roast Pork entree was delicious! Flavorful. The yellow rice was good, but I would've preferred white rice to go with my black beans. My son had the Breaded Steak and he said it was a little hard but was good. He said my dinner tasted better. You get a lot of food and price was good for what you get! Service was good and waitress answered my questions in details. I would return and recommend.
Jose Lopez, Jr
Very nice place for my first time. Good food and key lime pie

I visited Carmine’s for the first time on a Saturday when my family were visiting from out of state. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, grilled tuna steak appetizer, grouper bites, grouper sandwich, and blackened chicken salad. All of the food except the salad was delicious. The salads were just okay as the chicken was not truly blackened, but just had blackened seasoning on it. There were 5 adults and a well-behaved 2 year old (who required no service) in my party. Our waitress (Alexis) added an automatic 20% tip to our bill. The service she provided was just okay, but she became more engaging and personable with us when she brought the check, and even paid a compliment about how cute the 2 year old was. She joked and said, “don’t worry about leaving a tip, just leave her.” Of course the tip had already been added when she brought the check. I’m accustomed to 15-18% being automatically added for parties of 6-8 or more. I asked her was that a 20% tip already added and she said “yes, but the restaurant across the street added 22%.” I’m generally a generous tipper and It bothered me a little because we were a party of 5 adults that received “just okay” service. Also, she delivered our food, but failed to bring us eating utensils. We didn’t see her for several minutes and finally stopped a guy that we saw headed to the kitchen and asked him for assistance. He was nice and quickly brought us eating utensils. If a restaurant automatically charges a tip for 5 people, they should state it prominently on the menu. And, they should make sure the service is top-notched.
Briggette Jimenez
Amazing! Service is superior! Food is wonderful. Great roast pork sandwich and best grouper bites on earth. Debbie provided took such great care of us!
Filipe Brasil
Me and my wife had a very good experience at Carmine's. The Seared Ahi Tuna was absolutely delicious. Karen, our GREAT waitress, was beyond expectations. Besides being super helpful and friendly, she had many recomendations not just for the restaurant, but for the city as a whole. We defenitely recomended.
Greg Simpson
I highly recommend the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Cuban sandwiches we will go back!
Tatiana Becerra
Every item we ordered was packed with flavor! The ahi tuna had a lovely spice and the shrimp appetizer was incredible. Everything was delicious with great drinks and service to match. Can’t wait to bring my family and friends to enjoy this gem!
Alejandra Bacalao
Excellent food (Cuban breakfast sandwich) and good price, very nice staff especially the young who served us Juliani. I recommend them.
Scott Pino
Get the Cuban crab, worth the $12. I ordered the cuban sandwich. I always enjoy their pressed cuban sandwich. This time, it came out cold. I think it was a one "off." I am sure they would have corrected it, but I was starving. Lol
Bradley Marshall
Amazing restaurant with excellent food and great staff!
Larry Kramer
Tried the Cuban roast pork and really glade I made that choice. I was thinking it might be on the spicy side, but happy that the seasonings were subtle. We all enjoyed the historic area and the restaurant.
Jay House
Great food, atmosphere, and great service!
Emma Lilius
Great food and drinks. Always have had wonderful service.
One waitress who came around at the end (unsure of her name) had a fairly bad attitude and was a bit rude which brought the atmosphere down.
Will definitely still return though.
Thom Kwolek
The sauce was average. The lasagna was not good. Plus, when the bill came they put two meals on it we didn't order. The server was nice though. They fixed the bill. But I wonder if I didn't catch it would they fix it later.
Cammie Camaro
Omg our waitress was horrible! I'll start with that she whispered, but okay I can get passed that. We Ordered one beer that took about 10mins. Then we ordered an appetizer. That never came out. When she brought out our OnTrays (which mine was wrong) I asked about the appetizer. She asked if we still wanted it. I said yes. She finally brought it out. She never brought parmesan cheese for the pasta like she said she would. We actually asked another waitress for it. That waitress inquired if everything was okay, we explained. A manger came over who was nice, apologized for the other waitress and said he'd take some stuff off the bill to make us happy. Before she asked if we wanted anything else near the end of the meal she just brought the check however I wanted dessert so I asked her to add that. She was just a terrible waitress. Maybe just a bad day but honestly after all the thing she messed up (this is a condensed list) I would have compt the whole meal. It was just one waitress, but jeeze the food was okay not worth putting up with that waitress again.
Coly Moreno
The best place in Ybor to go dancing! Outdoor courtyard with stellar lighting and great mix of music! Drinks were excellent!
Mahaillie
My friend and I were feeling uncomfortable from being followed in Ybor during our evening. We managed to get into Carmines for dinner, my pasta was great, and when we asked the host if she could watch us cross the street to our parking lot she actually got us a bartender and he walked us over. Thank you so much for caring for our safety! We really appreciate that service!
Abi Ellis
Got food for pick-up, and although I felt the service was a bit slow and inattentive, the food was to die for! One of the better Grouper sandwiches I've had in the Tampa Bay area, and really enjoyed the rice and beans. Would definitely go back!
Patricia Smith
Great devil crabs!! Sauce for crab enchilada could be a thick, however it was delicious and loaded with crab. Margarita was good and strong. Good service. Make sure to make reservations.
don knight
This place is great. Everyone at my table had different things in each and every one of them were very happy with their meals. I had the chicken parmesan which was among the best I've ever had. Under the sauce was a crispy crust of perfectly seared parmesan on tender chicken. Would highly recommend.
Stacy Steele
We were a large party looking for something good to eat. We walked into Carmine without a reservation but was seated promptly. The server Rebecca was friendly and polite, they were out of a few items but it didn't even matter because the food was tasty. Would definitely return 😊 …
Troy D
Make sure you look oder a lot of appetizers cause the main courses are very small
Ricardo Sanchez
This place is very nice, great food and a nice location since it is in Ybor City. The steak and pasta I tried was great. Nice wine too.
David Kirchhan
Stopped in for lunch and it was fantastic. Had Chicken Parmesan and a Cuban Pork sandwich. A must stop while in Ybor City.
Jose Nunez (Joe Choo Choo)
Touristy. Paid $25 for a breaded steak(Milanese: tomato sauce and a sliced egg on top.) 3 pcs. Sweet plantain, rice and beans. Keeps teaching me not to order locally plentiful ethnic food in an upscale address.
Cathy Rogers
My favorite place to eat. Cubans to baked Ziti
Benjamin Branham
The plantains are excellent! Authentic and enjoyable lunch experience.
David Kunath
This is the place to try devilled crab cakes. Good service, great tradional Ybor menu. Really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes.
Upward SELF
David was our server, great sense of humor, and great food!
Tracy Smith
Love love live this place!! The food, the atmosphere, the ease... not to mention all the family friendly things to do in the area. Thumbs up!!!
Daniel Clark
Best deviled crabs anywhere. Fried green tomatoes were phenomenal.
Beth Mahoney
Good service. Saw a concert there. Large room and plenty of dance room. It was difficult to get drinks at times and had one bar for wine, one for beer and another for mixed drinks
Adam Schlaegel
The jumbo deviled crab for 8 or 9$ is enough for a meal and the best one I've found in Florida. If I recall correctly they said it originated at Carmine's and you can definitely tell. Easily the best I've had. The bar tender also was very nice and friendly. She brought me the wrong drink and was nice enough to quickly replace it with the correct old fashioned.
Their alcohol is top tier and their cocktails are no exception, if you want to grab something light or just a great cocktail or whiskey then this is the place to visit in Ybor.
Amanda Loehmann
Food is amazing! Had the double-breasted chicken grilled, bacon green beans, and cuban toast. Service wasnt over the top amazing but great for a chill vibe and no rush.
Holly Frink
I really enjoyed the Ybor vibe of Carmine's, & the food & service were great! I had a delicious chicken Caesar salad & my lunch companions each had Tampa style Cuban sandwiches & black beans & rice. I'll be back!
Neal Calhoun
Carmines has hands down the best Cuban and blue crab devil crab combo on earth
Mark Rodriguez
The food was good and it was reasonably priced. It was not completely 100% Cuban authentic… there was no Cuban bread served and there was no Yucca with the meal.. They also served Coke out of a can. I am not sure what the menu was prior to covid I can only hope that it improves. The flavour of the food was authentic it was just not completely a Cuban meal because it lacked a few things. I am not sure what the menu was prior to covid I can only hope that it improves. The flavour of the food was authentic it was just not completely a Cuban meal because it lacked a few things.
David N
It’s ok. Famous Cuban doesn’t have any pork on it, was more like an deli meat Italian sandwich. Drinks were good. Lasagna was ok.
Candace Culpepper
Everything is a la carte. Ordered a pasta dish of course nothing came with it. No bread offered and no salad. Jumbo deviled crab was $12 and was not even large. Nice Ybor vibe, but food not the tastiest.
John Howell
A restaurant as unique as Ybor. Nothing fancy, but I can't go to Ybor without having a deviled crabmeat loaf at Carmines. Add 1 of the best Cuban sandwiches in town, and you'll know why this restaurant is busy noon and night. (Good bar also).
open minded sometimes
Absolutely great location...We visited during the SEC tournament and the St.Patrick's Day parade happened to be going right by during our dining experience!!!It was absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!Make your reservations today!!
Rob V
We got two things here. Deviled Crab and happy hour margarita for $5.
We were ignored for 5 minutes upon entry before being seated, even though there were only a few other tables. Over 5+ minutes after seating before we had a useful exchange with a waiter. Key thing here is to remember - not busy.
Deviled Crab was eh, and was served on a tiny plate. Not sure what it's supposed to taste like, but wasn't impressed - supposedly it's good for the ybor area though. Server came out and didn't use her brain to provide a 2nd plate for us to share, so had to ask for one.
The $5 happy hour margarita was great - best value happy hour drink I had in Tampa.
Without that good and cheap margarita, I'd give this place only 2 stars, but if you come during happy hour, the good happy hour margarita bumps it up to 3 stars.
Michelle B
I can only comment on the food from Carmine's since we had our lunch delivered, but I felt underwhelmed by what we received. The chicken tenders were very hard with the breading on the verge of being burnt, and the menu could be a little clearer about the "gorgonzola sauce" that comes with them. A more apt description would be buffalo and gorgonzola sauce. I was expecting a creamy type sauce but instead it was a hot wing type sauce. It tasted fine but I just feel it could be clarified a bit better on the menu. The Cuban sandwich was alright, felt it was a bit pricey for the amount of meat in it. Same for the Spanish House salad, very small portion for the $6.00 price tag. The Spanish Bean soup was probably the best thing we had, but even it could have used a bit more flavor. I possibly might give them another try. I don't like to write restaurants off the first time just because I know off days happen, but my first impression wasn't a great one.
Richard DeMello
Food was good sat in seat 20 mins before a waitress asked if we ordered yet ..she seem to tell the girl that was working the section she didnt have a clue we were there for 20 mins so the waitesss that 1st came to us said sorry and waited on us right away was smooth sailing after that!
Cheryl Hoyt
Lots of activity. Good menu and reasonable prices. On street parking. Super friendly employees. Decent sized portions. Appropriate ambience for location. Interesting neighborhood. Lunch specials. Would go again when in Ybor.
Ap V
Initial impression from the outside was this seemed to be an Ybor city traditional establishment. Interior decor is modern industrial.
The service to get a seat it was a little bit too slow.
However, once we were seated, David, our waiter was very friendly.
The Coquito Mojito is a tasty spin on a Mojito with coconut milk.
Roasted pork Cuban sandwich is delicious especially with the juice on the side. Our waiter David listen to what we were saying and on his own decided to divide everything into three portions which was so thoughtful.
The rice and beans were slightly bland but still good. They could use a little kick of extra spice. The deviled crab is good but could be better. The exterior fried dough portion is a little bit too thick.
Prices are fair.
Overall, I would give this establishment a 4.3 out of five stars. Excellent experience but definite room for improvement.
Matt K
Came here for dinner around 5-6pm on a Saturday. The wait was only 25 minutes even though the day before we were told that they did not have any reservations left for this time slot. Had a drink at the bar while we waited for our table but once we were seated the service was sub-par. We ordered the fried green tomatoes to start and they were pretty good. We ended up splitting a pasta dish since we noticed the large portions from the tables around us. From the time we ordered the main meal it took roughly 30 minutes to receive our dish. The restaurant was not busy as there were several empty tables around us. The food was average. Came here on a recommendation of a local and was expecting better.
bmarie1005
Holy WoW! This place is Devine! Christianna was a fantabulous server/bartender. Delicious lightly blackened grouper (crisp seared and excellently seasoned). The yellow rice and black beans were flavorful and perfectly cooked. Pasta alfredo was on point!!!!!
Richard Redding
My wife and I had dinner here on a Friday night in February 2019. It was excellent. We are senior citizens and we were visiting Ybor City and Tampa for the first time. The building has one of the prettiest and most classic storefronts on the Ybor City strip. It looks old-school from the outside, but it looks hip on the inside. Indoors, the restaurant looks like a high-end renovation of an historic space, with exposed brick, tall ceilings, huge windows, spaciousness. The decor is very attractive. I ordered meatballs with penne pasta and red sauce. It was super good -- a very special Italian dish. My wife ordered a baked chicken platter, but the chicken was too dry. Her complaint about the chicken platter was the only drawback during our visit. We recommend this restaurant and we would certainly come again. Beautiful, classy place.
Benji
I only had thier Cuban so I won't go less than 3 stars... But that was a horrible Cuban... I think they use the same bread as subway, but way less meat... The service was mediocre at best. And nothing like hearing the waitresses complain about her personal life for 5 minutes.
Brenda Merritt
I have a great time the waitress was very nice the food was very good the shrimps was my favorite thing and and it was so much food
Jose Rosario Jr
Amazing Food! Fabulous Atmosphere. They really know what they are doing here! Keep up the great work!
Bill Rudd
The food was very good. We had the roast pork with rice and beans. It came with SWEET plantains and a salad. The salad and the plantains were awesome. The service was fast and great . Jackie, our server did a great job! I would definitely eat here again.
Eduardo Delgado
Great spot for a cuban or palomilla and beer sandwich during lunch...just dont let the boss catch ya 🍺 …
Dru Hanni
Really great food but our server must have been stoned. Kept forgetting everything. Forgot our appetizers, forgot bread for the table 3x so we never got bread. Sad because the food was delicious
Melinda Russek
This restaurant is excellent! From being in a historic site, with all the old feel of classic restaurant to the wonderful service at this restaurant, I highly recommend eating here. They have a wide variety of dishes but there is a focus on Spanish cuisine which is excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch and their drinks are superb! The venue has a wonderful view out the window of all kinds of old buildings with for traffic going by so it is great place to people-watch! This is also wonder place for parties as they have a lot of room and Airy space that keeps the sounds moving above you instead of being so loud in your ear. Great place all around!
Biankah Allen
Date Night with my favorite guy! It was great food was awesome staff was great! Prices were reasonable
Danielle H
Had a lunch craving for pasta so I walked from my office in Ybor. Enjoyed the lasagna and side salad. Food was great and service was wonderful as well. I’ve had the lunch half sandwich before which was also tasty and a good deal.
William Bravo
Loved the old school building, music was great our server was very friendly and knowledgeable he made sure our order was right.
Kyle Schnieders
Ive been going here at least once a month for a few years. The baked chicken lunch is great and so is the blackened chicken salad. Drinks could definitely use a refresh & bartenders could look like they want to be there but overall very good. Red sauce was kind of bland when I got pasta one time.
Oh and the chicken noodle soup & mac n cheese is great too!
Anna Buccafuri
10/10 recommend Carmine’s! We went for an early lunch, so some of us got breakfast and some of us got lunch, and the food was nothing short of delicious! The Cuban roast pork was amazing and the rice and beans were the most authentic we’ve ever had in Tampa. The service was excellent as well. We have all great things to say about this restaurant in the heart of Ybor City, and we will definitely be back, but next time we will come for dinner!
Kate Hartikka
We went to Carmine's on a recommendation. Maybe it's Covid but the menu was lacking. The service was poor only because they were severely understaffed and our waitress was managing all of the tables and including acting as hostess. It seemed poorly run overall. Despite the fancy appeal of the food, it wasn't special. I had a chicken sandwich that tasted good, to be fair, but was just like a chicken sandwich anywhere else. For it being the recommended local place we were told you MUST visit, we were not impressed, sadly.
Bernice Delvalle
While the server was prompt and attentive the food was okay. The cheese in the mozzarella sticks were not completely melted and the hot drink was not hot. It is not really that Italian.
Julie W
Karen is a Rockstar! Lunchtime rush and she was extremely attentive to our needs. The food was absolutely amazing! If you haven't been, go!
Debbie Cabrera
The Cuban sandwich and devil crabs were the best I've had in a long time!! Took me back to my childhood!!!
Definitely recommend for a delicious trip down memory lane or for a fantastic food representation of Ybor City!!
Joey H
Made a weekend trip from Orlando and tried the steak sandwich. It was very good but I believe the Cuban at this establishment left something to be desired for having so many paintings about it.
Archie Yates
The food quality has slipped a bit in the last few years. Along with customer service.
Marc Davidson
Noisy and crowded in the best possible way. Food delicious and served swiftly. Will definitely return.
Rachel Rovegno
Came here on Fiesta day and they were able to handle the crowds. We split a deviled egg and a Cuban. Both were very good and just enough for lunch. The deviled crab had a great crust and was very good. Cubans are hard in this town. Everyone has there favorite. Although this may not have overthrown my favorite it was quite good. Bread was nicely pressed and the ham and pork were very tasty.
Service was quick and very helpful. Nice job!
Bobby Dewrell
The food was excellent and the service was great. We had a rather last minute party of 20+ (only gave a couple hours notice), but it did not phase them one bit. We will definitely be back!
I highly recommend the Cuban sandwich. It was one of the best I have ever had.
Calvin Akery
Great food, but pricey.
Chet Rider
I give it a 4 star this time one of the waiters was a little seruly. We had already waited a bit. Said if we wanted service to go to the bar. So we walked to the bar. A nice lady asked what was wrong. We told her. She said she would take care of us. Service was good but a little slow. I give them a break for things being the way they are right now. Service could use a little work. The food was great as always.
Carrie Hood
Great food and quick service. Been craving a good Cuban sandwich for months and this place delivers.. and fried plantains! It made my displaced Floridian heart happy.
Not sure how busy it gets, but on a weekday afternoon we had zero wait!
A. McCray
Nice place, great food and service!
Mario Chamorro
Excellent soup, Macaroni and Cheese, and Chicken Italiana. Rarely does the wife like anything, but the food at this Italian restaurant made her sing! Service and location were also great here.
Britt Olson
The perfect blend of Ybor City flavors - Italian, Cuban, and Spanish!
Kevin Boyd
Best Cuban sandwich I have ever had. Very good service and atmosphere!
Steve Huerta
Good food...fast service...great prices
Try the Cuban, you won't be disappointed
Lily B
Food, service, atmosphere and prices were perfect! Not sure how they knew I was there for my birthday, but our waiter surprised me an amazing flan. It was my first time there and can't wait to go back!
Diane Morrissey
It's been awhile since I've been. Today it took a long time to get our lunch. I had the baked chicken which was good. It comes with plantains. They used to be big and chunky and you would get at least 4. Today they were tiny small slices and got only 4. I have to say the service and food weren't what it once was, disappointing.
Kevin Kolinski
Good not great food. The green beans were a nice surprise with big chunks of bacon liberally sprinkled throughout. The Cuban sandwich was a bit underwhelming. The meatball sandwich looked solid and I'd like to try it on my next visit. Was disappointed to feel rushed by our server to end our meal since this was a lunch meeting.
Lola Lee
Great food and service never disappointed when I decide to go down to Ybor City for Carmines !
Salvatore Ingrassia Jr
Devil crab was top notch! Good beer selection.
Daniel Barnes
Giving 5 stars because service (David?) was great and food was good (galf cuban and Spanish bean soup) I was disappointed that the Spanish bean soup I bad only had two potato chunks, 3 sausage pieces and a pittance of beans. Even tbe broth was at best half full. My wife on the other hand had hers loaded with potatoes, beans and sausage. By thw time i thought of taking a picture to show it was too late. Will of course go back but perhaps a talk to the soup guy about equal portions would be beneficial.
Jennifer Scott
Seated quickly, lovely service. The black beans and yellow rice side suited my veggie daughter just fine! And hey...their meat eating mom loved them too! The house Pinot Noir was amazing. Cuban bread was fabulous. Buttttttttt....unfortunately the deviled crab are not awesome...at least to us. It was very fishy and almost cold in the middle. BUT...the rest was amazing and I will be back to try other menu items!!!! Great atmosphere, quick and friendly service. Definitely a place to return to!
Dawn Finger
Totally cool district! Food was very good!
Tom Sprester
The overall decor and atmosphere was enjoyable during lunch. Service was quick and friendly. The meatballs and crab enchilado were flavorful. The Tampa Cuban was subpar.
Brett Boden
Skip sitting at the bar if you are in any type of hurry. The male bartender was very slow in my opinion. The chicken tenders are supposed to come with gorgonzola cheese I didn't say that I didn't want it but I did ask for side of ranch which I did get. Not overly priced and cute atmosphere. Food was good but if you want soda refills make sure you ask for fountain soda. Might give them another try in the future.
Anna May
The ahi tuna appetizer was excellent! Fresh and tasty fish, done superbly with spicy seasoning, dazzling the taste buds with a sweet drizzle, to finish the dish. The Milanese steak, on the other hand, was nothing to write home about. The breaded fried meat was dry and overdone and the color, instead of golden, was dark brownish. The house wine was surprisingly good, for wine per the glass.

The white sangria was amazing! However, the shrimp fettuccine alfredo lacked flavor and several noodles were not cooked properly (hard) and this is why it received three stars. Service was great!
Manny Sergentakis
Really good Cuban sandwiches. The local craft draft beer was just as good. The staff was pleasant as well.
C A Virca
I love the flavor balance of the pork chops. I had it with green beans and bacon. First pass it was too tough and dry. It went back to the kitchen. Second plate of pork chops was literally perfect and delicious. Don't be afraid to say something if it isn't too your liking. They will make it right! If Darlene is working, ask to be seated in her section. She wants to make your experience great at Carmine's.
Melissa Miller
I’ve been coming here for years. This time we ordered food to go. The deviled crabs are homemade and one of the best in Tampa. The fried green tomatoes are everything. The only downfall is it’s a little pricey. I would definitely recommend this place.
Adenis D.
The pork was delicious. The yellow rice wasn't bad. They had a good selection of beers on draft.
J He
My wife and I have come here for years and always get a Tampa Cuban and Deviled Crab Cake; and it’s always good.
In that same amount of time, we’ve had good service.. maybe once.
Location and food definitely float them. But don’t come expecting spectacular service.
Jackie Plourde
Hosted a dinner event here at the Market on 7th room. The food and service was great. Diane and Chad went out of their way to help us get anything we needed, and they were a delight to work with. They made sure our guests were well accommodated for and were flexible with dietary restrictions. Everyone had a lovely time and I would definitely host here again! Thank you!
Ron Sweet
Good food. Cubans are not up to standards.

The price is decent, service is good, but the food is average. Good for a quick bite.
Debbie Murphy
First time visitors and enjoyed the ambience, service, and food. The deviled crabs are the best we have had in a long time and the Cuban sandwiches are excellent. Enjoyed our visit and we will be back. Thank you.
Shelby Alinsky
For the price we weren’t very impressed. Salad was very small. I would have expected far more flavor from the crab enchilada. The clam pasta didn’t have a whole lot to it either. We would try here again but don’t have any desire to return soon.
Devin Lowery
We’ve been coming here since before I was born. Ordered my Cubans and deviled crabs to go and it was ready in 10 minutes! So fresh, so tasty. The restaurant is so nice and charming inside. Love!
Hodges Lucas
Carmine’s is a Cuban restaurant located in the Ybor historic district on the Seventh Ave. I enjoyed it! I had the Deviled Crab appetizer and the Tampa Cuban sandwich. The blue crab was excellent! The sandwich was good, but I was expecting something different as being a Cuban sandwich. I asked the waitress which meal was the closest meal they had to authentic Cuban. It was very similar to your everyday cold cut. Still plan to visit again when back in Tampa!
Grande Finale
This place was great. The atmosphere was more than expected. Rich in history and culture. Full bar,and a great menu. Me and the family absolutely loved it. I would recommend Carmine's to everyone. I will be returning
Kelley T
The original Cuban sandwich in Historic YBor City!
But no doubt the best Crab Roll I’ve ever have had! I have eaten here for 4 decades
The Cubans 🥪 sandwiches with bowl of black beans and rice with a bowl of Spanish onions to be added to taste. The other option I rotate is the Spanish bean soup.
Now those are the classics everyone must try coming to Carmine’s but they also offer a great selection of other excellent choices; chicken Marsala, lasagna, calamari, fried green tomatoes and so much more
If your live in Tampa or just visiting Tampa and want to taste the real Tampa and YBor flavors!
Carmines’s is a must during the day.
Always keep in mind YBor City is a different city daytime shops and restaurants verses the nighttime nights clubs and bars
Rebecca Zaragoza
Carbines was one of my favorites but this past experience was...well very disappointing. Our server was amazing but the food was cold, rice tasted burnt like they reheated it and chicken had no flavor 😕 my cafe con leche tasted like they made it with American coffee instead of expresso and added a little bit of milk it was gross and disappointing.
Stephanie DeBerry
Amazing food, great service, welcoming atmosphere; if you're looking for a great place to relax and have a great meal this is the place. Walking in you get this welcoming experience, the hosts and waitresses are very attentive and accurate. The food is everything that was expected and more. A year ago I visited Italy for a total of 10 days traveling all over the country and have not found a place that served pasta that made me feel like I was back there until I had Carmine's Ziti dish tonight. Truly a great restaurant, if you're visiting Tampa/Ybor make sure you don't miss this place!
Patrick Sullivan
Amazing restaurant in all aspects I had one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've ever had, and some of the freshest appetizers/sides like the deep fried green tomatoes and the Cuban rice and beans. Also the staff/customer service was above exceptional.
Linda Weatherlow
Happened upon Carmines walking through Ybor, so happy we did. I ordered the Meatball sandwich it was massive, no sides needed, the side of marinara was sufficient. My husband had the baked Ziti, another good choice. ( a side of garlic toast would be nice). But all in all everything was good. Our server Ivy was very knowledgeable, cordial, and extremely polite Thank you Ivy for a nice afternoon.
Annie Green
I always enjoy the crab and cuban sandwich. However today, my server totally ignored me, taking her time to serve me and even longer to bring my order. She took my money to pay for my order, and just didn't bother bringing my change or receipt. I had to ask for it! She was very young and un-friendly, one of the other servers had to apologize for her.
R Suss
We came for their famous Cuban sandwich. The sandwich itself was just ok. The pork wasn't super tasty and the bread was just ok. Service was very good. We'd look elsewhere next time for our Cubanos.
Derek Crager
Great top shelf margherita. Lasagna was hot and delicious. Even the salad is delicious. Grouper bites, I'm boring... But they were delicious. 🤣 …
Caitlin Kozel
Staff was great, but not a huge beer selection. We came here for deviled crab and again for a Cuban sandwich, both of which the restaurant claims to be famous for and they just didn't deliver. Found better food for less just down the street.
Dawit Granados
We came on the tail end of lunch but they still had the special of the day, chicken fried steak with all the fixins. At $17 it was still too much food for the both of us, but we managed. My husband commented on how the mashed potatoes were the best he'd ever had.
Matthew Smith
Great place for a cold drink would get five stars but the Cuban sandwiches are always cold and made from cheep meat. But overall nice joint to chill
Shaun Kitts
Service has been awesome both times we've there. Food is at your table before you know it. Awesome Cuban sandwiches. We've made it a thing to go every time we go to Tampa now.
Wayne Douglas
Wonderful time!!!!!! Festive atmosphere very friendly wait staff located in a historical area of Tampa Fl. Prices in line with this type of establishment. House special Devil Crab which are second to none. While would be fine for the whole family would be enjoyed more by and adult crowd.
Tina Crumpler
The food was ok but not authentic Cuba food. The Cuban sandwich is made with a sweet ham and changes the overall flavor of the sandwich. If you like that flavor then you'll enjoy the sandwich.
lori R
Oml the black beans and yellow rice are devine! Sweet plantains and the Cuban sandwich were tasty too, and the staff is very friendly.
Rachel King
Delicious Cuban-American eatery in Ybor. The restaurant is lively and noisy, but we could still easily converse. The service was good in that our drinks were refilled without requesting, and the staff was friendly, but service was a little slow. Parking is impossible nearby, parking in a garage or pay-lot and walking is your best bet.
Garry McCormick
Friendly service in a historical building with great food. There are too many great sandwiches served in Ybor to say this is the best without trying them all. That said my sandwich was great and tasty, the dipping sauce was fresh and flavorable.
Shilo Thumin
They have the best deviled crabs around
Jackie Fess
I made reservations to meet coworkers I haven't seen in over a year-Great place to catch up and enjoy delicious food! We had a "room" to ourselves! Great staff, great food, great time!
M C
We went here for a couple cuban sandwiches. They were really lacking a key part of the sandwich. Roast pork had a small and I mean small piece of it. Won't return here again.
Janice Elin
Good Cuban sandwich and Spanish bean soup. Buttered Cuban bread was good. However our waitress Darlene was awesome attentive and our drink glasses never went half down. Awesome service.
Billy Bobber
The chicken was tended and juicy. one of the best I've had. Stacy and julio went beyond for me and will be back fast. Highly recommended.
Jackson Davis
They've upped their game since my last review...renovated the dining room, tightened up the service...now I can recommend them!
Without question, you should eat a deviled crab and have a drink; fresh cold beer on tap, sangria, espresso martini, it all works. And ask the server what's good that day. I recommend the linguine with shrimp and princess sauce; the baked chicken (perfectly bronzed and tasty); the veggie Cuban sandwich.
Pete Wright
Went to their website to chek the times they are open on Sunday. It said they were open until 6. We drove 50 miles up there, paid to park, arriving at around 4 only to be told their kitchen just quit serving. CHANGE THE HOURS ON YOUR WEBSTE!! it cost people gas money and parking money
Dee Roberts
Lunch was great. The chicken was tender and the rice and beans were flavorful. They have decent lunch specials and we were in and out on time.
You want always find quick parking though.
Louise Gravelle
So so food Carmine's was disappointing this visit. We ate here very frequently until a few yrs ago...stopped in our expectations were not as we remembered. Lunch order was warm needed to go back came out rubbery & with an attitude from our server. Sometimes memories are better...unfortunately
Greg Dee
Came here after the wait at Columbia was 45 min. Was in and out before our table at that other place was even ready. Carmine's had a great atmosphere inside. I really like the booths. Food is good and true to its roots. It is however a little pricey. My Cuban sandwich was $11. It's $4.25 at Arco Iris in West Tampa.
Leslie Schrack
My girlfriend and I went out for some fun cocktails, food and to have a little Sunday fun day. Little did we know.. this was the best place we could have come across. Bartender Amy, took great care of us! Food was amazing! Best meatballs ever. Amy was so helpful and gave us great advice on our next adventure. Thanks again your the best!!!!
joe martinez
The Cuban sandwich with black beans and rice is a great combo. Very tasty and filling. The atmosphere is old school cool. Kudos!
Tina Mostov
Our waitress was very attentive. The food was okay. The deviled crab is tasteless. Salad okay, sandwich okay. My husband did enjoy his breaded steak dinner.
Jon Tietz
Had a great mojito with skirt steak and salad. We had a side of green beans that could have been warmer, but excellent service at a reasonable price. A great place for a quick early dinner!
joe tax
Very nice restaurant, fast/polite service, nice atmosphere. And yes of course the food is great. Would recommend the Perino beer as well, goes nice with a Cuban sandwich.
Andrew Algaze
Best Cuban sandwich I've ever had hands down. Definitely made up for the crotchety bartender. With food that good she could have kicked me in the nuts and I'd still have given 5 stars
Shanterra Johnson
We sat at the table for 20 minutes before I had to get a server. The food was okay. The drinks left something to be desired.
JP Huller
Decent Cuban-Italian restaurant. Ignore the $$ rating as it's expensive. Lunch for 2 came to $70 (including tip), and we did not order drinks or dessert. Service was excellent, food overall was average.
Steve Irwin
This place is always good. Of course the best thing on the menu is the deviled crab! Well to us anyway. The Cuban is awesome as well as the Palmia steak! It’s always good every time that we stop in.
Pedro Herrera
This place is iconic is like walking into grandmas kitchen in Habana...the food is great the menu selection is superb and friendly staff and friendly atmosphere. Very clean and classy facility. Tell the owner I sent you and bring all your friends and family soon!
Jamie Lopes
Food was delicious! They were short staffed, but our server tried her best! Delicious mojitos!
Drew Rivera
Food was very good. Our server Chad was awesome! Unfortunately the Hostesses were not friendly at all. & when I said thank you, for seating us, I was ignored. The face on this woman was one of disgust. On first impressions alone I would not come back.
Shame

Being that I'm a born and bred Tampa boy, I know Carmine's from my youth. While the food there is delicious they've definitely cut way back on portion sizes and gotten a little silly with their prices. My Cuban today had very little pork and salami on it, which was a little disappointing. This is a great historic place to visit and eat if your a tourist looking to say you've been here. But there are other spots in Ybor where you'll get more bang for your buck and can get a Cuban for 1/2 the price.
Debra Piper
Cozy atmosphere, sat in window seating, great food, hearty portions, courteous staff. Only complaint was there was not enough bread served with the baked ziti, it came with one small slice of toasted cuban bread.
Denise Houseberg
The food and the drinks were very good. The problem was our waiter did not bring our food for nearly an hour. Nick was really not on the spot last Saturday and I brought friends from out of town. It was a little embarrassing because every other table around us was served and had already left and there was no apology. Nick was out smoking a cigarette instead.
David May
The service was fast and friendly. I had the Carmine combo; Cuban sandwich and frijoles negroni con arroz yellow.... FANTASTIC. Mi esposa has the stuffed crab which she loved. Excellent! We'll go there again next time we're in the Tampa area.
Sharon P
Nice atmosphere on the Ybor strip. The food was very good and my party enjoyed their drink selections. Definitely going back soon!!
Matt Gerlinger
I love the sparse decor of this place, but I'm probably alone on that. Food is very good, drinks are great, but if you sit by the window, homeless people will definitely ask you for money. It's Ybor, so comes with the territory.
Anne Fried
Wow, it's been years since we had real deviled crabs and Cubans. Such a treat. Great service!!!
Charles Nichols
Always a good meal. Been going here for years. Love the baked chicken with black beans and rice. Do yourself a favor and get a basket of buttered Cuban bread. The bread comes from a local Cuban bakery.
Ty Ramjohn
Excelent food fast and friendly!
Nicole Hoelt
Love their deviled crab and Spanish bean soup! We tried a pitcher of red sangria this visit and it was delicious!
Out server, Arianna was fantastic!
Demelza Turner
I ate here for lunch with my co-workers and was pleasantly surprised. I had the seared Ahi Tuna and it was so delicious. The location is fun because you can people watch and I loved the old school industrial look inside the restaurant.
Mike Burda
First time at this location and it was fantastic!
Normally we eat at Columbia when we get to Ybor, but decided to switch it up this time. Great food, friendly service, very nice atmosphere.
I’ve been to the Carmines in Vegas & Bahamas - this one is the best.
Scott Hooks
Get the pork roast with black beans and rice. Like most places in ybor going here is an experience. There's often live music too. I've always had good service here. The grouper appetizer isn't so great though -- it's pretty bland. Knocked a star off for that.
Caleb Fevrier
It was an awesome experience. My job had our company Christmas party there on December 14 and it was awesome. The atmosphere and the people was awesome. I can't wait to take my wife their on a date night.
Bree Keim
I'm a native of Tampa, I've been coming to eat at Carmines for over 30+years now. I've stuck with them through the bad times....(Lord knows they had their share of them) The renovation process was horrible but necessary, and the good times...I've seen this place go from bad to great as far as service goes! Great job to management and Carmine the owner! The menu is very diverse. My favourite is the devil crab! Best in Tampa Bay hands down! You won't find a better one anywhere. The shrimp Gino, the Lasagna, chicken Marsala, tomatoes Carmine is a MUST!! I was not impressed by the fried green tomatoes, but i like mine fried dark golden. I can't hold that against them because everything basically on the menu is pretty good. If the food had not been so good, during the bad times I would have NEVER come back., I hung in there and glad I did the service has gotten better and the place looks and is a LOT cleaner than it used to be! LOL!
Tone Fazoolz
Food was good, although the Cuban sandwich was a little light on meat. If you tout yourself as “home of the Cuban sandwich”, don’t skimp on the meat.
Tamara Davidson
Best crab rolls there ever was!
Lauren LaMar
Great experience, food was delicious. My boyfriend and I loved it! Will be coming back : ) Paris was amazing!
Stef Sam
OMG, the Reuben, the Lasagna were so filling and delicious. The drinks were good, just wish we had more time to experience more food.
Amanda A
Excellent little cuban/italian spot right in the heart of downtown Ybor. I have been here just twice but the food has been amazing each time. I feel the service could be a little better , but wasn’t horrible either at all which is why I am only knocking off one star.
Stephanie Walker
I have to say that my first visit was awesome, so my mother and I decided to go again. We wanted to have the same waitress Karen, but her section was full. Another waitress offered her table to Karen who remember our meal a week prior. Even if the food was bad, which it wasn't, I would go back just for the hospitality!
Noah Ram
A little pricey, but great location right in Ybor with large menu. Definitely try the deviled crab, it’s a specialty
Roxanne Manzone
My first time here. Loved the atomsphere, really nice Italian menu, great beer selection. Service was excellent and our dinner was first class. Will return.
Tara Dixon
Nothing better than visiting a childhood memory. Carmines is where first I tried linguini and red clam sauce. Still love it today. My Tampa Cuban was perfect. The service was great and The atmosphere was pleasant.
Dana Leonard
Tuesday was awesome. We were a group of around 20. Food came super quick and was good
Bobbie Gallardo
Went there in celebration of my grandson joining the Gard. The food was great. The waiter was fantastic.
Marshall Davis
This review is from the COVID period. The menu may have been reduced. The Cuban and the meatball sub sandwiches were delicious. It was quiet at lunch time.
Anthony Viola
Been going to Carmine's for years. Things have shrunk in terms of portion and charging for many things on the past was free. But still good eats just expect to pay for anything and everything. Example: they do not have fountain soda. Can soda is $2.50 ea. So if you want another drink. It's another $2.50. Green Bean and bacon side is $7.00 in the past it was a heaping well worth side that you could share. Now it's 1/2 if not more and definitely not sharing still $7.00.
Laurie Rua
The waitress was very sweet the food was decent I got a Cuban sandwich Spanish bean soup and deviled crab.my husband got the same it cost 81.00 I think it was a little over priced for sandwiches.
Gary R
Best deviled crabs in Tampa. Really good Cuban sandwich along with their Spanish bean soup. Wait staff is all over the place, sometime they are top notch, sometimes they could care less you are there. I deal with it because the food is worth the stop!
Thomas Bedgood (Tom)
An Ybor classic the continues to serve a good pressed Cuban.
Phillip Catanzaro
Wife and I were there for our 16th anniversary Carmine's was okay it started off kind of loud and obnoxious to be transferring rings to one another never been there before. But we would never return if it weren't for Chris the waiter we would have left a lot sooner but he made the night a lot more enjoyable. And honestly food was not that great our waiter Chris was the best part of the entire dinner oh and the drinks
Rebecca Badders
Best Cuban Sandwich Ever! Served with choice of side, I had the fantastic black beans over yellow rice. Bonus dining in historic Ybor City.
April Blair
Great service. We were a group of 11 and our service was excellent. Our entire order came out at the same time, hot and delicious. Additionally our server had no problem at all breaking up our invoices.
Anna Cotton
A local's favorite, Carmine's front row to busy and historical Ybor city life will turn into one of your favorites too. Food is good, generous servings in an international environment.
Debbie Mosley
Excellent service and the food is delicious. Old town atmosphere so you can people watch while you enjoy your meal. I recommend the devil crab and cuban for lunch or the roast pork MOJO and black beans and rice for dinner. GREAT PRICES! Parking can be a challenge.
