Reviews of Bern's Steak House
Reed B
This review is for the desert room since we were not able to get a reservation for the regular restaurant on a weekday night no matter how frequently we called.
Bern’s is one of those places that had a TON of hype throughout central Florida. It’s old-fashioned in the best way possible with classic food, service and charm. The desert room is located on the second floor in the back of the restaurant and you used to go there after dinner. Luckily you can do desert separately if you are willing to go right as they open. The little booths you sit in are insanely cool and be prepared to have a very difficult time choosing what sweet treat you want to eat. Service was amazing and prices are high enough to blow your socks off. Unfortunately the desert was just OK? We sampled 3 different things and the cheese plate and while all of them were good, none were particularly memorable. Overall the experience was worth it - hopefully we can try the full restaurant experience some day.

100% completely amazed by this dining experience!! For starters it felt like stepping back in time with the decor which for me made this an even more of an unforgettable experience. Our waiter Tyler was super fabulous, and that French Dressing Holy heart eyes it touches the soul. The wine list is something out of a fairytale! For dinner I indulge in the Wagyu and my lord I can't even begin to express the joy of my taste buds!!! There was nothing about this dining experience to complain about! Lastly our visit to the desert room was undoubtedly the best experience I've ever had the pleasure of encountering. Definitely try the flour less chocolate..... to die for!!

Very high end steakhouse with the great vibe and really nice atmosphere! The food was awesome! Got the porterhouse steak which was cooked perfectly. It comes with the french onion soup (10 out of 10) and the house salad. Macadamia Nut Sundae is definitely worth a try! Also our waiter Davor was the best, very cool and funny 😁 Nothing but good emotions, absolutely recommend this place!

My husband and I ate at the restaurant and then did the dessert room afterwards. Both were decent, but don’t think the food is anything special. It was good, but don’t think it lived up to the expectations set based on other reviews. The ambiance was neat and our server (Eric) was fantastic, but food was standard and didn’t seem like anything exceptional. Everything was good, but nothing stood out and made me want to come back. Glad I tried it, but doubt I’ll be back. Seems like more of a one time experience to try it and see the decor/building.

A stalwart in Tampa! It has a lot of history and tradition going for it. Took 3 months to get a reservation. I get it that but as a first timer it’s very expensive for what you get. I liked their stories incorporated in their menu but I gotta say it seemed better in print than the real experience. Our server Lisa was polite. A Bern’s veteran with 28 years under her belt! She however missed the important nuances of traditional service like pouring out wine as needed. I picked up the slack. Decanting the wine with the candle was a nice old time touch. They have an amazing/renown wine wine/beverage selection probably unequalled in Tampa. My steak was good but not great. The dessert room upstairs is a unique twist and we had a cozy room for two. Even though we had a few minute wait we we arrived upstairs for me it was the highlight of the evening. Not a must try experience but if you want something different then give it a whirl.

Food was above average, I had a steak that was above average but not as good as last time I came here. Soup was great, salads too. Service was very direct and out of our was but didn't feel genuine downstairs. Upstairs was better but the front desk girls didn't notice we were cut in line and didn't care to let the guests who cut us go first and get a table in the desert room. Especially the woman in the black face mask. It all looked great. 50/50 customer service some good some bad. It's a a pretty decent restaurant.

Probably the best food in Florida! The amount of food you get for the price is amazing. The service is perfect! A must do for anyone wanting an elegant, amazing meal! But save room for dessert.. because their desserts are otherworldly.

Dessert Room Review
This is our go to spot for the best desserts.
I’m all our travels we still haven’t found anywhere that rivals the dessert room at Burn’s.
A great atmosphere that’s moody but also well lit when it needs to be.
The booths are small secluded areas with their own music that you can select.
Great for conversation especially on special occasions.
The staff is always super friendly and attentive. You would expect nothing less at a high end establishment.
Now for the best parts…. The desserts.
They have a wide range of dessert wines and alcoholic and non alcoholic coffee choices.
Great if you like a little bitter with your sweets.
The desserts themselves are nothing short of phenomenal.
Always sweet but never so rich you can only have a few bites.
A few options for alcoholic desserts as well but always done tastefully without going overboard.
The steakhouse can be a little pricey so if you are looking to only spend around $25 a person consider heading upstairs and just getting dessert.
You won’t be disappointed and it makes for a romantic evening with your significant other.
Cheers!

Delicious food and a large selections of wines. The desert room is really unique as well and you should plan this dinner as a event lasting at least 3 to 4 hours. Make sure you reserve ahead as Berns can be a extremely difficult place to get into to. They have a huge wine room with thousands of wines to choose from. I would highly recommend this place. After inquiring the waiter informed me they take walk ins for the desert room (only) as long as it’s not a weekend or holiday week.

If I had to sum up Bern’s Steak House In one word, it would be delicious! The aged steak and stuffed potatoes as the main course was not like any steak I’ve had! The French onion soup is a must and the dessert room with jazz feels and selections of music was a bonus to the dining experience. I’m so happy I was able to try out Bern’s! Until next time.

Awesome! Yes, meals will cost over $100/person on average, but you WILL be full between soup, salad and sides with your TENDER steak.
Our 2 wine glasses only cost $16, and we skipped desert this time as we had the birthday cake waiting at home.
FANTASTIC MEAL! Extra kudos for our waiter straining out the onions for our "French" soup which was wonderful!
We'll be back again!

I've wanted to try this restaurant for quite some time now. I've heard from several friends that it was great, so I was really excited to go for a special occasion. The entrance doesn't do it justice for the decor and decadent feel of the restaurant. After being seated, we were greeted by our great server. He helped us decide which cut of beef would be to our liking, and we started our course meal with a French onion soup and salad. Both were delicious. Our entree came, and it was cooked to perfection. You can definitely taste the superior quality of their steaks. After we were directed to the dessert room, which was more than we'd expected, They have privacy booths to give an intimate and old-fashioned feel. They offer an extensive menu of liquors, coffees, and desserts. I had the Baked Alaska; it was amazing, and they flambeau it right at your booth. The Creme Brulee was exquisite. This is a high-quality restaurant, and prices reflect that. But for us, it was worth the price. From now on, this will be our special occasion restaurant, and I can't wait until we come back again.

Michelin star time for Bern's. First and foremost the steaks were perfectly cooked and delicious. The accompaniments were fantastic. What puts Bern's even more over the top compared to other steakhouses is the dessert room. It was the most unique restaurant experience I have ever had. The pianist's soft but skillful play set a perfect mood for the room. You must get a scoop of the macadamia nut ice cream with which ever dessert you choose. Lastly, great value. Dinner, wine, & dessert for two cost right at $200.
Paula Hlavacek
Wow! This place is massive.. super cool concept that dessert is separated from dinner! Completely different location from dinner. Their wine list is the biggest I’ve ever seen. They have everything from all around the world! Highly recommend making a reservation; this place is super cool!

I’m fortunate as I’ve been dining at Bern’s since 1990 then doubly fortunate to move within 2 miles of Bern’s back in 1997. For many years, it was easy to get in, enjoy the amazing service, great tours, world class wines and at much lower prices. As the years have passed, it has become harder to get a reservation, COVID has eliminated the tours (hoping they return when possible) and there are still World Class wines (just pricier)...things happen... I only regret not being one of those regulars who eats here once or twice weekly, same room, same waiter, etc. I’ll be dining at Bern’s for hopefully 30+ more years.

I went to Bern's Steak House for my birthday dinner and a celebration of life dinner for My grandfather. The staff was very accommodating for me, being in a wheelchair. The only suggestion I noticed is that it would have been nice if there was someone to open the door or have a handicap button to open the door for myself. Also, where we sat during the dinner. The wait staff left the servings trays behind my seat at the table. They didn't move it until the very end of the dinner when moving up to the dessert room. Making it hard for me to get into my spot and felt odd that they would leave trays behind a customer during their dinner. The wait staff was fantastic and the food was to die for. All in all it was a wonderful night celebrating life.

The five stars reviews are accurate. Me and my husband have been trying to come here since September. Finally got lucky enough and landed a table for his birthday.. in JUNE. Yes, it's that kind of place. So much to say. First off, the place it self is unique and beautiful. If you're from New York or have been to New York steakhouses, you'll REALLY appreciate it. Bern's service and food are top notch. If you order an app, just be mindful depending on what you get, plate comes with items. And reserve the dessert room while at dinner, just do it. Lol you won't regret it.

Eating at Bern’s is definitely a unique experience. This place resembles a men’s club in the Renaissance’s times. Surrounded by paintings and marble-like busts, lit by dim lights and chandeliers. Velvety walls and chairs.
The menus is focussed on different cuts of meat but they also have a wide range of seafood options. The main course comes with an onion soup, a salad with any dressing you like, a jacked potato and vegetables.
The wine list is extensive and contains wines from all over the world.
Don’t worry if you can’t see the desserts listed in the menus.
Once you finish your luscious dinner, you’ll be escorted upstairs to the dessert room. A maze of alcoves where you’ll be presented with the dessert menu.
Everything on that list deserves to be tasted. Go for the macadamia icecream, or anything containing macadamia if you can. It’s just delicious. Also, try the Bern’s cappuccino. The velvety vanilla foam at the top is scrumptious.
The staff is welcoming, friendly and very professional.

Best dining experience my husband and I have ever had! Food was amazing, atmosphere was even better. The wait staff couldn't have been better, specifically Robert in the desert portion of the restaurant, he really knew the menu well and had great suggestions. We will be back for our anniversary every year now!

This is one of the best steakhouses out there. Class service and food. Make sure you make reservations well in advance. And desert room reservations are separate so don’t miss out. Prices are surprisingly fair as well. Love this place.

Jessie (sp?) was the best server and host for our evening. He went above and beyond at explaining the menu and making sure we were taken care of with reservations for dessert and drinks to follow. He gave us a lovely tour on the way over for dessert. He really takes pride in his work and it shows. Please give him a big thanks and share how amazing we think he is.
The food was amazing and your French onion soup was the best I've ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection. We loved the upstairs. The creme brulee and double espresso were fantastic. Our waitress up there was great too. I unfortunately do not remember her name!!

What a great night at Bern’s! Corey was our server and entertainment. Knows everything about Bern’s and been there for 26 years. Our steaks were perfect and thanks to Corey we had room to go upstairs for some fine coffee and great desserts! Rio took excellent care us us and recommended me to get both desserts so I got Bread pudding and 15 layer chocolate cake! And yes I took my cake home in a box and we finished it off! Tours still not happening for the wine rooms or the kitchen so will have to go back at a later time! Thanks for a great night Corey and Rio!

As always Bern's did not disappoint. Continues to be one of the jewels and staple restaurants in the Tampa area. Make sure you do have a reservation if you want to visit as the place always gets booked weeks in advance. Food was amazing and the dessert room was great! Steak was so good I forgot to take a pic upon arriving to the table...lol drinks are also great and the selection of desserts and in-house coffee is second to none.

I’m going to be honest, I feel like this place was a bit too hyped up. Our experience was good, none the less, but not exactly what we were expecting. Valet parking is available in front of the restaurant, but free parking is located in the garage across the street. The interior is very different in comparison to its exterior appearance. It’s upscale and grandeur. The waiters and servers are all well versed and provide an excellent culinary experience. It’s nice to know that when you order your steak, French onion soup, salad, baked potatoes, and veg is included in the price. But I would say that upgrading your soup to the mushroom soup and salad to the beet salad is the true way to go. Honestly the house salad was okay, the French onion soup was pretty good, and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare but I was underwhelmed by its flavor. We weren’t really wowed by it. After our dining experience we were able to go to the desert room after. Interesting place. The staff described it as, “a restaurant within a restaurant.” We were seated right next to their piano and shortly after their pianist came in and gave a live performance which was a nice touch. We were pretty full from dinner and shared a tiramisu. Again, not wowed and it was okay. But the experience in the desert room was pretty nice. Overall, I feel like I can finally say I have checked off eating at Bern’s Steak House. Good experience but not out of the water for me. Oh and if you’re curious, I made reservations for this restaurant probably about two months in advance.

5 stars from top to bottom! The wife and I ventured down to Disney for a weekend and also decided to hit out usual steak spot on night one, which is also good... We then made the drive up to Tampa just for Bern's. But, I must say if you are looking for an over the top experience from start to finish, this is your place. From valet to dessert, everyone was on point. Our restaurant waiter Kiran was probably the most knowledgeable waiter I have ever come across. Mitch the bartender was awesome as well, I was able to talk Scotch for a bit and try some good ones also.. including Bern's very own Compass Box Scotch. Also, Zack up in the dessert room took great care of us. And, if I haven't already mentioned... the steak is some of the best you will find. Book a reservation and go, you won't regret it.
Service: 5 stars
Steak: 5 stars
Atmosphere: 5 Stars
Thanks guys!! We will be back soon.

Amazing food and place!! With all my years living here this was my first time. The steak literally melts in your mouth. I think I was rolled out of the place bc I was so full🙈🙉🙊. It's expensive but well worth the splurge. Everything was delicious...our waiter was amazing. Always brought over refills, and our food was brought out quickly. My date was also not bad to look at🤣😂We will be coming back for sure.

This place is hard to get a reservation for, but I now know why. The ambiance is very cool. Old school, chic, luxury feel. Steaks were excellent and perfectly cooked, and once you realize they come with the salad, potato and soup they are actually not overly expensive for fine dining. What was really awesome was the desert room upstairs. It feels like you've just entered a speakeasy with private booths inside a 'cask'. The service was also excellent. Definitely going back when we can get a reservation again.
Jess Guerrieri
Wow! If I could just have that be the comment on that's enough. This was the best steak I've ever had and I though I've had some really good steak. We did a strip split and it was fantastic. The French onion soup was delicious the salad was very good and the loaded baked potato was wonderful. Also, I loved the fired onion straws, yum! But that steak! Oh my gosh! Wow! Perfection!
Allison
We’re visiting from out of town and had dinner here for my birthday. Everything was super tasty from my ribeye down to the accompaniments of French onion soup, salad, and all the sides. The Dessert Room was so fun!!! You have your own little booth with music controls and it feels very old timey - probably my favorite restaurant experience to date. The pineapple cake was amazing, and they brought me a birthday cake ice cream with a candle. Thanks so much for a memorable birthday!

Absolutely one of the best places to eat if you are in Tampa. True great service and great food. FYI: we couldn’t get a reservation, but showed up at opening time and they were able to sit us within 10 minutes. Don’t forget to go to the desert room.
Alex Divinsky
💎💎 Unbelievably good 💎💎 The menu is outstanding. Every cut of meat on it is fantastic and the sides are great. I had the 6 oz Wagyu fillet and it was literally the best steak I've ever had. The wine list simply doesn't end and is very affordable (some as little as $4 per glass). The dessert room upstairs is an experience of its own and all the options are fantastic. They roast their own coffee and have fantastic espresso drinks. The cappuccino was to die for. I loved the ambiance, especially the live piano player. Overall fantastic experience. We're making our next reservation right away!
Edit: I don't understand any of the reviews saying the service here is bad. We got seated early, our waitress knew about everything on the menu, our glasses were never empty, and they adjusted our reservation to the dessert room based on the timing of our dinner. Then we got the same great service in the dessert room! If I could give this restaurant a 7 out of 5 I would.

A classic steak house experience - you just can’t get any better. The place is so incredibly unique with a rich history to match the rich flavors. Food is amazing of course, and I love the extra dishes that come with each steak. Finishing with the dessert room is a must! My only complaint is the phones in the dessert that you use to listen and call in requests to the live piano player are broken, would love it those were fixed.
Ken Landis
Excellent food and service. Extensive and reasonably priced wine list. Compared to other high-end steakhouses, this one is incredible. The price for a steak includes an excellent French onion soup, a nice salad, stuffed baked potato, vegetable and onion rings. We will definitely be back.

First visit 3 years ago not so great. Decided to give it another try and was completely blown away by the service and food. The Juanita drink was delicious. The steaks were fabulous and the service provided by Correa was phenomenal.

I drove 2 hours from Orlando to Tampa to come eat for the very first time since all my friends told me about this place and since I’m a foodie had to check it out for myself!!! Just know they only do valet parking so make sure to bring cash it’s $8!!! I like how I was 30 mins early for my reservations and I still got seated right away that was awesome! My server Chuck was excellent! He always checked if I needed anything and packed my food in a box for me and showed me how to get to the dessert room and showed me the kitchen on they way and said there used to be tours but because of covid they stopped doing them! My 14oz delimonico was cooked medium the way I liked it and was juicy and so delish and so good!!! Also on your dining checks they automatically add a 12% service charge to use bill which is given to the server but you can still tip extra if you want! When I got to the dessert room was greeted by Katie and asked what was her favorite dessert she said the peanut butter truffle so took her recommendation and loved it! What I really love about this place is that all steak entrees include bake potato and salad and not charge A La carte like most steak restaurants for the sides so it’s a good deal!!! The decor inside is so cool too the theming has haunted mansion vibes lol overall I would def come back if I’m in Tampa again!!!

Berns Steak absolutely lives up to its prestige historic name! Some of the best tasting steak I’ve ever had in my life. Pure rich tenderness with lots of flavor and just a joy after ever bite. From the salad to the soup and steak everything is just so fresh and well prepared! Deserts are out of this world! Macadamia ice cream was so good along with the chocolate tripe cake! Customer service goes above and beyond to accommodate you, me and my spouse decided to go to Berns for our anniversary but missed our appointment, luckily the manager was able to get us in the very next night came over to even make sure that we’re doing okay and had made it to dinner! Truly classy I love it here at Berns and highly recommend this steak house over all the others!

I've been waiting for the right place to try an aged steak and I'm glad that my first aged steak was at Bern's Steak House. I also really enjoyed the French onion soup. All the sides were amazing especially the mac'n cheese. The old fashioned I had was really good and I don't think that wine list can be beat. My crew was stuffed but we still had dessert upstairs. One of the best steak houses I've ever been too.

For starters, this was a long awaited meal for us. We originally booked for March but because of unforeseen circumstances, had to reschedule for April at 930pm. This is a super late meal and honestly I wasn't expecting much. I've been excited to try Bern's out because of the rave reviews. Walking in I was taken aback on how gothic and dark it is. Apparently, when this restaurant was established, this was considered romantic LOL. It's very Victorian and dark but I get it. They don't want to change the theme of what this historical gem has been since it's conception. There were some reviews/complaints about there not being natural light; I honestly didn't mind and enjoyed the murals that they have. Unfortunately, we weren't able to go into the kitchen or the wine tour because of CV19 - so that was a let down. Our first experience started with the concierge. I think it would help to have a bright cheerful person there but again, we are human and it was late so I can give it a pass. While we waited for our full party to arrive, we hung out in the bar area. Again, it's dark and moody there but there's plenty of space to sit and have a drink. The server that we ordered our first round of drinks with was a little cold but she warmed up to us as the night progressed. I was thankful that she recommended an excellent glass of wine that I cannot remember the name of, LOL. We were seated fairly quickly, once our party arrived and greeted by our server. Again, I cannot remember her name but she was wonderful. I hope she knows she made our night very memorable because of how friendly and informative she was. The French onion soup was really tasty but having some native Long Islanders in our party, they mentioned how it was unfortunate that there wasn't any onions in the soup. But regardless, it was delicious and the cheese was perfect. Our server recommended the garlicky salad dressing, which most of my party got but I ordered the Cabernet vinaigrette which I thought was perfect for the salad. My party guests said their salad dressing was delicious. One ordered macadamia salad dressing and was not impressed. But then came out the main course: the steaks! We were all very satisfied with our steaks but by far I think the Chateaubriand and the Porterhouse were divine. The sour cream on the baked potato was so rich in taste, I wanted to order some to go! The green beans were tasty and the fried onions were perfectly seasoned too. I cannot think of anything bad to say about our meal. Everyone was happy and we were so excited about dessert. And let me tell you, the dessert room did not disappoint. I could go on but this is a pretty long review. If you stayed reading until now, just book your appointment! Bern's is one of those places you have to try at least once in your life. Just don't miss out on dessert. It was literally heaven on earth.
One star deduction for the concierge. I just thought it was awkward to walk out of the restaurant and not be greeted out. There was no one by the entrance of the restaurant or the desert room to say goodbye or ask how your meal or dessert was. And walking in could have been greeted in a bit more cheerful manner.

My visit was on March 22, 2022.
I was visiting my in-laws, and my FIL and I decided to go to Bern's. Bern's is not just another restaurant, it is an experience. My advice: make reservations!! Reservations are about 90 days out. We missed the window, so we were on a waiting list. We arrived at 5:30pm, and were already on a 2 hour wait to sit at the bar, and 4 hour wait to sit in the restaurant seating. We had a few drinks and appetizers, while we waited. There is seating in the bar area, where drinks and appetizers can be ordered while you wait. We got seated around 7:30pm. When we did get seated, we had a great meal! French onion soup came with the meal, as did the sides. Then we went upstairs for some bananas foster. We spent about 4+ hours total, there. Again, this is an experience. Get reservations early. Expect a long wait, if you don't, but make the most of it, and it won't be an issue for you. You can skip dinner and just go upstairs for dessert and coffee, if you wish.

Overall the best dining experience I have ever had. Tremendous Steaks and an overwhelming wine selection. You MUST go to the dessert room after dinner as it's an entirely seperate ordeal. Also if they still offer the restaurant tours after dinner, please accept. You won't regret it. This place is top notch and worth atleast one visit in your life time.

What an extraordinary and unique dining experience. From the distinctive ambiance, to the detailed service, and the Quality and taste of the FOOD. @bernssteakhouse truly creates magic. Our waiter Jose was extremely professional, knowledgeable of the menu, and helpful. By far one of the most amazing dining experiences I have EVER enjoyed.
Chris Stansel
What an amazing dinner that was cooked to absolute perfection. The time and care that they put into the restaurant really makes this a special place. Every time we dine with them, we are reminded why we make the reservations for the dessert room even if we've had our fill.
Mia Marcus
Absolutely INSANE dining experience and probably one of the best I've had in the entire Tampa area. I started with Bern's Old Fashioned and ordered the Luxe Tasting as my entree. I would highly recommend just going for the Luxe if you want to sample their cuts of meat OR if you're thinking about just ordering the Wagyu. Go all in and try everything you can. Each steak entree includes French Onion Soup and a salad - you really get your money's worth! Additionally, your waiter can suggest which cut of meat works best for the way you like it cooked, and they truly have options for everyone. The Truffle Mac & Cheese was so creamy and melted in your mouth! DON'T skip out on the dessert room after dinner!!
Alan Hsieh
Amazing experience at this famous steakhouse! Just snag any reservation you find online and the week of the reservation, you can call the restaurant to move the time if available. Got the regular Delmonico/ribeye steak and the girlfriend got the chateaubriand steak. Both very flavorful and juicy cuts. Among the better steaks I've had at steakhouses. Comes with French onion soup, salad, onion rings and green beans, very filling portions. Make sure you go to the dessert room upstairs. Had the s'mores cake, moist and tasty while being not overly sweet. Overall a great experience with yummy food. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience! Great food and service. The Macadamia Ice Cream is delicious. The dessert room offers different coffees, wines and spirits.

Had a lovely anniversary dinner in the André Tchelistcheff room with Tricha as our server. The meal was wonderful per usual. The service is always top notch and our time in the dessert room was fabulous as we enjoyed sweets, an old fashion and Kenny on the piano. I do wish they would bring back the smoked old fashion as it’s my favorite, but it’s been a LONG time since it was available. All in all, every visit to Bern’s is exemplary and this trip is included.
Cheers.

The food was appetizing, but the decor on the 1st floor is too much. Leftovers are even better. I pulled up to the attentive valet runner who quickly got me squared away.
When I walked in, I immediately thought of a haunted house. Dark carpet, extremely dim lights, and vintage decor. I was greeted with a warm smile as i walked in the door. I was late for my reservation, but luckily there was a table open. I was seated in minutes.
The server was nice and accommodating. We ordered the aged Delmonico (ribeye), creamed corn, steak mushrooms, truffle mac & cheese, filet mignon, house salad, and onion rings. The food was good, and arrived in a timely fashion.
After dinner, we went upstairs to the dessert room. The dessert room is Pleasantly overwhelming lol. The variety of drinks is awesome. The dessert is delicious as well. We ordered The Cherry and the Banana Cream Pie. The cherry was a tart, but good mixture and the cream pie was sweet and is a favorite amongst guests.

Bern’s is always a quality night out for us! We try to make it a stop for us a couple of times each year when friends/family are visiting the area. The food has always been prepared perfectly, tastes delightful, and the service is excellent

Whilst writing this review , I am rather emotional in the experience and the opportunity I had. There is a reason that you must wait weeks on end to get a booking and there is a also a reason why humans dress to impress when having dinner here. I came to Tampa on a 3 day visit for the first time and I was lucky to find a slot to dine. From the entrance we was greeted with the upmost welcome with the highest standard of hospitality I have seen world wide, I love to see proud employees that are informative about where they work and how they work. The food was absolutely outstanding and I’m glad for one I didn’t go for their wagyu option, their ribeye equivalent is one of the nicest steak I ever had, very very impressive and a historic wine storage . I thank you for leaving a lasting impression in my mind and taste buds . Highly recommended !

I’ve lived in the Bay Area for 12 years now and have always heard tons of hype about Berns steakhouse and how you can’t make a reservation for months ahead of time. Well I finally got a reservation. We called about 2-3 months ahead.
When you get there, you’re going to have to valet park your car. It’s $8, we ended up tipping $10 more after pick up our car. You walk in and you’re greeted by dark, red-lit, European decor. This place is huge. There are I believe 8 separated dining rooms. You’ll want to read up on how Berns came about, it’s very interesting. We were seated soon after checking in for our 6:30 reservation. Wait service was great. We got three appetizers, shrimp cocktail, lump crab cake, and dry aged carpaccio. The dry aged carpaccio is a MUST!! Most of use got steak entrees so that meant a full course meal from French onion soup, house salad, and the steak plus onion rings, vegetable of the day and a hearty twice baked potato topped with sour cream, butter, chives and bacon. I got a 14oz 100 day dry aged delmonico (ribeye) cooked medium. It was cooked to perfection. No complaints from anyone around the table. We were so full by the end. However, we couldn’t leave without going up to the famous Harry Waugh Dessert Room.
Make sure you let your waiter know at the beginning of dinner that you would like to reserve a table in the dessert room. Let me tell you it was worth it. As you get brought to your table each booth is enclosed with their own doors. Supposedly the dessert room is made up of old red wine caskets! Amazing! Anyways, we got three desserts; the warm pineapple cake, baked Alaska, and a root beer float. The warm pineapple cake was my favorite, the baked Alaskan cake was drenched in southern comfort and lit on fire, which was cool. However, the taste of liquor was very strong despite being burned off. The root beer float was good. There’s a few other desserts I would have liked to try but there wasn’t much room left. Thankfully, you can reserve a table at the dessert room without having dinner.
Overall it was a great experience. I’d give it a more precise score of 4.45, because nothing beats a fresh steak cooked at home right off the grill.

We chose Bernes for a girls night out…..big mistake. Our waiter (Gill) was much more concerned about the table next to us than he was with our table. He chatted with them while our food remained on the tray next to him for about 10 minutes. Our food was almost cold and a couple of the girls asked to have wine with dinner but didn’t receive their drinks about until half way through the meal. Water glasses were empty as well by that time. Thank goodness for AMY in the dessert bar! She saved us with her smiles and personality. She was informative and attentive to our needs. We ended on a great note because of her! Thanks AMY!!

This was my first experience at Bern's and it was pretty good. I got the Luxe tasting and it came with the French onion soup, a salad, green beans, string onion rings and a baked potato. For the appetizer I got oysters and escargot. The oysters had good flavor but they were very small one of them was even a sliver so that could have been better. The escargot was tender and delicious however it came in a baby food green sauce that was just too much. The steak cuts that I got was cooked perfectly however the Delmonico steak cut was a bit too fatty so that ended up not being something pleasant once you started chewing it. My filet mignon and Japanese wagyu was so delicious and tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. The dessert room was a pretty cool experience because of the ambiance. The desserts that I got was the roasted pineapple which is basically a pineapple upside down cake with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and I got the dessert tasting plate which had a King Midas cake which is their take on a carrot cake and it came with macadamia nut ice cream the banana cheese pie and the cheesecake gert. The King Midas cake was not very good it was way too nutty even a bit dry. The banana cheese pie was absolutely delicious as well as the cheesecake gert which had citrus notes to it. It was very delicious. My absolute favorite was the macadamia nut ice cream. It's the best ice cream I've ever tasted. They're creme brulee is absolutely delicious as well. I also got a dessert drink called grandma's little secret. It has Grand Marnier fresh blackberries and a honey tea cordial. It was very smooth and strong and tasty. It was very pricey to eat at Bern's but for the experience that you get it was worth it to do once a year.

This is the best steak place in the world. This place is amazing. The meat cuts were so tasty and soft. Dessert room was super cool. The server makes your night

Any place that has a whole FLOOR dedicated to dessert is the sure way to my heart.
Make decadent chocolate-peanut-butter-oreo mousse cake? I literally cannot think of a better combo!
Then offer not one but TWO desserts that get lit on fire table side?? And we get to dine/sip in our own personal barrel room, with a direct phone line to the piano man? That's the TKO. 🥂
First, their signature Berns Cappuccino is exactly what I was hoping to sip and they brought us little snifters of it complimentarily when we sat down! A little round glass of coffee-infused warmth, with a float of sweet vanilla cream on top. *Chef's kiss*
We shared a 4-decade port flight, which I always love: the older = the more nutty and caramel-y 🤤
Then I also got a refreshing, bright cocktail with lemon and chai notes and a beautiful presentation (a delicate red leaf, clipped to my coupe). I was glad for the crisp sip, because then came the dessert parade...
First, it might have been prudent to consider splitting 2 desserts instead of ordering 4 (1 each) 😂 But this group didn't come to play! We went hard and nearly everyone finished their own whole dessert.
The best one was my Peanut Butter Truffle, with Oreo brownie, crunchy peanut butter mousse, caramel milk chocolate mousse, and Peanut. Butter. Fudge. Swirl. Ice cream. 🏆
We also got the Salted Caramel Bread Pudding for Brian (good, but not my favorite), the ganache chocolate cake (with slow-mo fudge sauce pour over!) and the Baked Alaska, with gorgeous meringue peaks, lit up with blue flames at the table! Very boozy but worth the show.
On top of great desserts, yummy cocktails/port wines, and the most extensive (and expensive!) wine list Brian's poured through since Vegas, we had excellent service and had fun getting lost on the way to/from the restrooms 😂
We didn't do the dining room -- eating lighter shared bites somewhere else first -- but Berns Dessert Room is a must-stop for the true pilgrims of food experience!

Berns was good but not WOW. The service and valet was excellent. The steaks were good but not like a Butcher & Singer or a Steak 48 from Philly. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely return. Just couldn't give that 5 stars

This place is an institution for a reason. Every steak house chain strives for this type of old school, clubby feel. The ambiance is an added bonus to its legacy. The menu is brilliant, Full list of steaks, but surprisingly solid fish and chicken dishes as well. The appetizer menu is thorough. And, no one should visit Berns without an attempt to navigate the wine list...which is huge. Or, do as I did and let the sommelier do the exploring for you based on how you describe what you like. A must dine place in Tampa.
Magic
An amazing dining experience overall. It’s not the best steak I’ve ever had but the service was fantastic and the dessert room makes for a very special night cap.
It’s not a place we’d visit regularly as we spent just shy of $300 but you must experience it for yourself at least once.

The best experience that I ever had in a restaurant. The French onion soup was amazing 👏, the service was great!!! I really like the interior decoration it feels like you're in a old school high class restaurant. I really love everything about this place... …

Been wanting to go to Berns in forever, so my daughter put a reservation in for my retirement. The reservation was 2 months out, but well worth the wait. I got the 18oz Delmonico, my daughter got the 8oz Filet Mignon, and her boyfriend got the 30oz Porterhouse. Came with French Onion soup, salad, baked potato, and fried onion straws. What a meal! It was a late reservation and we were afraid of not getting the full experience, but they took the time for everyone. They also have a room upstairs called the dessert room, and when you finish your dinner, they have a table reserved for you, no matter what time it is, and OMG, what a way to end the night, with a Banana Cheese Pie, Creme Brulee, and Macadamia Nut ice cream 😋. Can't wait to get back 🙂

Go to this steakhouse each time I’m in Tampa and it doesn’t let me down. Great for rsvp or walk-in at the bar/lounge area. The steak cuts with sides are reasonably priced and with great flavor. Dont miss out on the upstairs dessert room and tour of their wine cellars.
Fernand Gaucin
We had a Tuesday reservation. Nice to have the steaks come with so many sides. The wines were also a highlight. Desert rooms were fun.
Laurie McMillen
Amazing experience! Came here for my birthday, and the meal was absolutely fantastic! Everything from our soup to the salad to the steaks and sides were completely wonderful! Our server took excellent care of us, from wine recommendations to fantastic service. Can't wait to go again!

This is one of those places you have to experience atleast once. It deserves it's own category for a restaurant. I don't want to go in detail on this place as I could go on forever on what sets this place apart from any other. Just know, whenever you make a reservation, to ask for Drew as your server. You can thank me later and send tips to my venmo. Pictures below are of a 10oz filet mignon with lobster tail and a 21oz porterhouse. Housemade chips came out first, followed by French onion soup with bread, salad, then our main course. We also went upstairs to the dessert room which I also suggest!

The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. They make a great old fashion. The food is always perfectly seasoned. The worst part about this place is trying to get a reservation.
Chris Powell
This is our favorite upscale place to eat in Tampa. Be sure to make reservations a month or two in advance. The food, service and experience are worth it!

Legendary Bern's steak house is simply outstanding! Each steak dinner includes a salad, baked potato, French onion soup, a fresh vegetable and crispy onion rings...all delicious! Save room for dessert something sweet in the dessert room...like the bread pudding!
Jennifer Nisengard
We had an amazing and memorable meal at Bern's! The service was absolutely impeccable and the food was really incredible. The heirloom tomato salad was a delicious starter. All of the steaks were wonderful, but the chateaubriand was the best of the best. The French onion soup served with every meal is spot on. Prepare to spend the evening and enjoy and then...the dessert room is worth a trip, so save a little room! Gluten free and dairy free options are available. What an evening! Dress for the meal and you will feel even more special! I haven't mentioned the incredible cocktails or the wine list, but I could go on and on! Bern's is a destination!
R Gotti
Such an amazing experience everytime we go. You have to book a table 3 months out to get a good time though. A must visit when in Tampa!

Absolutely the best restaurant for steak I've ever been to! Our table ordered black truffle steak tartar as an appetizer as recommended by our server. Essentially it was raw beef with toasted points, it was a fantastic dish. The meat was smooth, clean, and perfectly flavorful to the point where we cleaned the plate spotless with our remaining toasted points. Next came our soups which were also outstanding. I had the soup sample which included the lobster bisque, vichyssoise, and french onion soup. The lobster bisque and french onion soups were traditional hot soups, while the vichyssoise soup was a cold soup. Each one unique and great in their own right. My personal favorite would have be the french onion soup, you can't go wrong with it. Then came the salad, where we had the house salad, Cesar salad, and caprese salad. The Cesar salad was easily the best Cesar salad I've ever had. It was the perfect combination of parmesan cheese, croutons, anchovies, and lettuce. This isn't your typical Cesar salad, this is a flavor filled salad perfectly leading you up to your steak. The caprese salad was also spectacular, the tomatoes tasted refreshing, clean, and vibrant and the mozzarella was soft subtle and complimented the tomatoes flawlessly. Now on to the main entree the steaks. Each steak comes with a baked potato, salad, vegetable of the day, soup and onion rings. I order the luxe tasting which include 3 oz of A5 wagyu, 3 oz filet mignon, and 3 oz del monico at medium rare. The A5 wagyu could be best described as "meat butter" it's a melt in mouth piece of meat. It has a very rich flavor a symmetrically blended combination of meat and fat. Since it is so rich, I would only recommend in small portions. The 3 oz was a perfect size. The Delmonico was my personal favorite. It had was tender (not as tender as the A5) and flavorful with a perfect crust. All the steaks were cooked to perfection and is the steak I would order next time and the one I would recommend others to order. The filet was also a delight, juicy and tender. I know it sounds contradictive but the filet was ever so slightly tougher compared to the Delmonico. By no means was it a bad cut of meat. Just a reminder they also have sauces you can order to pair with your steak, which is something I'll have to do next time at Bern's. Overall these are the best steaks I've ever had in my life. Every non steak item we ordered from the appetizers to the meals were also exceptional. Bern's is a place I would recommend to anyone (steak lover or not).

Service was great as it should be, wine selection is really impressive, food presentation is good but it was okay nothing special about it, I wasn't really impressed by the food quality and taste.

Every time I'm in Tampa for the rest of my life, I will come here. I've only been to their dessert room to be honest but it is to die for. When you walk in your transported into another era and you will be in awe of the history that this place carries. Please ask your waiter for the background of this place and I guarantee your mouth will drop as much as it will be watery once your dessert makes it to the table. The macadamia ice cream will be the best thing you've ever put in my mouth and it's the one thing I bring my guests to have. I'm very serious when I say that when I die I need to be lathered in that ice cream before they put me to rest.

This place is an experience - that's why you go. However, if you have any type of mold allergy, stay away! It's an old building and very musty inside. The dessert room uses wine casks for 'booths' and is also very musty. The food and service is good, but if you have food restrictions it really limits your choices. They don't really go 'off the reservation' for that. The lobster was good, but lobster tends to lose its sweetness when over 1.5lbs..and that's what happened to this one. Octopus and escargot was really enjoyed by my husband and son. They also loved the tomahawk for two. Dessert wasn't the best I've had - but again, it's the experience!

Very unique and cool restaurant. Reminds me of a haunted mansion 🤗 dinner was so good and you get every pennies worth!!!! Will be coming again soon... …

Every aspect of the dinner was fantastic. We ordered tuna tartare, beef tartare, filet, and then wonderful dessert. Service and food were both top notch!

I got a lemonade to drink and it was the best I’d ever tried. It was fresh made. The French onion soup was so hot and flavorful. I got the salad with the vanilla bean vinaigrette. I have never tasted any dressing so crazy and bold like that before. I got a New York strip. It was okay. It honestly lacked seasoning. But it was cooked and prepared well. Ratatouille came on the side. It was fresh and tasted healthy. After dinner I got dessert in the dessert room. We ordered an espresso brownie. It was so rich. It wasn’t my pick, but it could have gone well with a glass of milk. Our waiter was great. He was very knowledgeable on the food. He also didn’t hover or talk too much. It was a great experience and I’d love to go back and try something other than steak. The person I was with ordered the duck which was incredible! It was well seasoned, hot and so crispy. I think it was the star of the table. The ambiance of Berns is so dark and romantic. Not what I was expecting. It was a wonderful experience and I’d love to go back.

Fantastic experience at Bern's. We had reservations for quite a while, so there was some build up to the experience. They exceeded expectations. Our table was well taken care of and our waiter was well balanced with personality, humor, and knew when to give us space. Our steaks were fantastic. Dessert in the other dining room was amazing (don't skip the dessert experience). We didn't have time to tour the wine cellar, but that gives us a great reason to go back. I would definitely recommend this for special occasions or if you just really want an expertly cooked steak.

I don’t know y’all…..I think Bern’s is over hyped. My husband and I recently went there for our anniversary and the steak was not as mind-blowing as people make it out to be. I had to add salt and pepper to my ribeye as it tasted very bland…..I was not impressed. Hall’s Chophouse in Charleston, SC is still my top steakhouse, especially for dry-aged meats. This, unfortunately, did not come close. One pro is that you do get a lot of sides with your order of steak so that’s nice.
The dessert bar upstairs, however, was very good. Their dessert wines and crème brûlée are delicious.
Matthew Landon Heller
Always a great experience. From the cocktails and apps in the lounge to Kenny playing piano in the dessert room, get there early or have a reservation.

DISAPPOINTED SERVICE
After multiple tries various times of the year, we were successful. We obtained a reservation for the same week after we kept refreshing the online reservation page. At last a 5:00 slot opened for September 11. We spent hours reading reviews. Before our arrival we had a good idea of the menu.
We parked at the hotel across the street. We only waited 5 minutes in the lobby before being called. We were seated in a small dining room. The decor with the maps on the wall was boring. No big deal, we came for the food and desserts.
PROS
The Delmonico steak was flavorful
The onion straws were yummy
The French onion soup was very good although the cheese was salty
The tomatoes on the salad were juicy
The vegetables were good although minimal
The pineapple upside down cake was the best we’ve ever eaten
The vanilla and graham cracker ice cream were both very good
CONS
I never heard the waiter introduce himself. Maybe the mask interfered
The waiter did not explain the menu or make recommendations
I had to ask the waiter what was the daily vegetable
T bone needs more seasoning
The waiter stood in the hall ready to deliver each course however he never checked on us
The salad was skimpy. A small slice of avocado and a tiny slice of egg. Iceberg cheap lettuce
The bacon bits on the potato were imitation
No salt and pepper shakers on the table. We asked for salt on the cheap lettuce and baked potato
Only 1 tablespoon of vegetables
After eating the soup, we had to ask what were the two toasts
Very expensive desserts ($12) for very small portions
OVERALL
Service was just ok, nothing exceptional
UPDATE
After speaking with the Dining Room Manager, Bern’s has demonstrated they sincerely value customer feedback. We spoke at length and the manager was genuine with his apology. Although my review remains the same, I’m looking forward to future dining experiences.

The scene: Two couples in their 30s and 40s celebrating multiple things, including an anniversary, a marriage, and cancer remission. Traveled from the Orlando area.
I have very mixed feelings about our experience. We heard this is an institution in Tampa and a great place to celebrate and have a wonderful dining experience.
The interior decor is … historic? Tacky? Gaudy? Overwhelming? Dark. Cave-like. It’s reminiscent of the Haunted Mansion. I expected the paintings to begin growing taller and taller. I know it holds nostalgia for many. Just not for us.
I know it books up very quickly, we stayed up til midnight three months out, and I was still amazed at the number of people there on a Tuesday.
We waited in the bar area for our table and decided to order a bottle of bubbles. The service in the lounge area was slow. But our bottle was brought to our table when we were seated.
We had looked at the menu online and still had quite a time choosing what to get. Our party of four decided to order some apps to start which all were good. In retrospect, we shouldn’t have ordered the appetizers because by the time our steaks arrived we were absolutely stuffed, tired, and couldn’t even consider dessert. We literally were a little ill thinking about eating more when our steaks arrived. No need to order anything over 6 or 8 oz. My husband did not like his chateaubriand, but we didn’t have the energy to even say anything about it. We felt defeated and bloated.
Our waiter said, “Well I warned you.” (He did not.)
Mind you, our experience lasted FOUR hours. Apps, soup, salad, steaks and sides. Four hours. If we had stayed for dessert, we would’ve been leaving at midnight. The darkness of the room didn’t help our situation as by the time we were done with the salads we just wanted to lay down and nap.
And sure, we were able to bring home our leftovers, it just feels wrong to pay that amount to bring home leftovers of such good quality. Using my steak for tacos at home doesn’t sit right.
And we do enjoy a leisurely meal, but the chairs became uncomfortable after hour 2.
We got up to use the restroom which we discovered was located at the back of one of the crowded dining rooms (otherwise there was another restroom on the second floor). It was awkward to pass by so many tables, dodge servers, and interrupt the dining experience of others.
They don’t do the wine cellar tour anymore so it doesn’t give you a chance to get up and digest a bit before starting another course either.
Our waiter was a bit cheeky, but his mood seemed to change over the course of the evening to include a condescending tone. As if we were young, ignorant, and cheap folks who haven’t traveled outside our hometown and don’t know what good food is. All this even after we agreed to several upsells.
We also clearly arrived as two couples and at the beginning of the meal we mentioned to put this item on our tab or that item on theirs. Then he brought one check and when we said we thought we’d be on separate checks he said, “Oh I didn’t realize that. You didn’t say. Well I can’t go back and remember what you each had.” Ohhhhkay. To get out of there quickly we offered to split it in half.
The whole thing was just a strange, surreal, slightly uncomfortable experience that included some highs and some lows. I’d like to think I’d go back just for dessert but I’m not even sure that’s on my list at this time.
I think the operation needs to be brought into the 21st century, add some windows, and reduce the darkness and props - which can be done while honoring the legacy and tradition as well.
And the valet fee just seems like an extra kick in the groin on the way out, after you leave a hefty portion of your hard earned wages on the table.
There’s another steakhouse down the road that we enjoyed much more and we will celebrate good CT scan reports there!
Victoria Majewski
not worth so much money ruths chris and the capital grille are 10 times better, but the fried tomatoes and crab cakes were very good
Pam Vinje Isbell
what an amazing experience. Worth staying up to midnight to get a date secured ! The caviar, crab, delmonico straks and wagyu beef amazing. Loved the farm to table story. Excellent wine and cognac, Banana Foster amazing .

Absolutely delicious dinner. Steaks are top notch as is the entire menu. Really enjoyed the old fashioned (plural) and the dessert room experience. Will be back soon!

Bern's Steak House has been the best experience I've had in a high class restaurant. This is the perfect get away for couples celebrating any event. I normally post a few pictures to go with my review, but I just put my phone away and enjoyed the experience with my wife. We celebrated our 15th anniversary and the staff made sure we felt special during our dinner. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. The restaurant decor is elegant, and everyone is dressed to impress. They have a dessert room and it was a special surprise. They take you to a completely different room, where you feel completely separated from everyone, it felt as if my wife and I were the only two in the restaurant. The restaurant is pricey but its expected for what they offer. Bring money for valet parking, not much parking area. Highly recommended this restaurant for special events. If the review helped, please leave me a 👍

Where do I start? The food- fantastic doesn’t cover it. The steaks we ordered were cooked to absolute perfection and all of the sides that accompanied were perfect compliments.
The service- top notch from the valet to the wait staff. The entire place runs like a well oiled machine.
We had dinner reservations which allows priority access to the dessert lounge. I highly suggest you go even if you don’t think you have room. The dessert beverages including spiked coffee are well worth it. And you WILL have room. Amy’s recommendation for their coffee with a shot of whiskey was wonderful.
I’m not sure if Kenny (the pianist) works there full time, but if he does- send him your requests. We had a blast asking for everything from Stevie Nicks to Dr Dre and he knew them all.
We frequent a LOT of steak houses and this is easily in my top 5. All around 10/10 and this is a priority stop when I come back to Tampa.
Debra Wojtkowski
I shared the chateaubraind for two with my daughter. We requested it medium and it was more medium rare but very delicious. French onion soup, salad, green beans and baked potatoe were all superb. We went up to the desert floor and I ordered The Cherry. So many yummy components in this unique desert!
Joel Hawkins
One of the most amazing dinner experiences ever! The knowledge and service of the staff is impeccable. The steak and all our sides were untouchable. The salt they serve to add to your steak is simply amazing and I’ve never come across it anywhere else. Move on to the dessert room inside old barrels and they’ll blow your mind again. The bread pudding the absolute best I’ve had. If you have the opportunity do not miss this experience.

The experience at Bern's underwhelmed me. Since moving to the Tampa Bay area, we have repeatedly heard that this restaurant is the best in the region. We made reservations months in advance as required and awaited this wonderful experience. We were seated promptly and received a great explanation of the menu. As soon as we told the waiter that we couldn't drink alcohol, we noticed that we would not get the same service as those around us who were ordering expensive wines and cocktails. We ordered steaks that included onion soup, salad, baked potatoes, and onion rings. The onion soup and salad were good and served in a timely fashion. The waiter delivered the steaks, and it took more than ten minutes for the gorgonzola sauce to arrive and additional time to receive the baked potatoes. Coordinating the arrival of all meal components is a minimum service level that I have come to expect, and much less expensive restaurants have figured out how to do this. The steaks were of excellent quality, but the experience was marred by not having them cooked as requested and not receiving the accompanying sauce until the waiter had a lengthy discussion with patrons at another table.
After the meal, we went to the dessert room and were less than impressed again. The piano player stopped playing as soon as we sat down, and the selections that the waitress said were outstanding were mediocre. I doubt that we will be returning since, in my opinion, there are much better steak places in the area.

Great place for families/larger groups, terrible for dates/ intimate groups. Steaks are surprisingly good, probably the best in Tampa. Cocktails are well crafted and wines list is expansive. Atmosphere is tacky, like something from a theme park. They took the style of a classy 50s steak house and stripped it of all its charm and cozy ambiance. Most rooms are jammed with large parties and too many tables. Charging for the Valet, tacky. Placing an 12% service fee on every check, tacky. Having a dress code they like to tout, but not enforcing it at all, tacky.
Dessert room is a nice idea, but lots of children running around since anyone can go. Speaker was broke in our booth, but that didn't stop a kid from running in and pushing all the buttons till it started making a weird noise. Desserts and coffee were good, though none was particularly memorable.

Fabulous from start to finish. Quality of food and sevice were terrific. Unlike most steakhouses, Berns includes 5 sides with theirs steak orders. What a special night, enhanced by our waiter, Tyler.

Bern’s is by far my favorite steakhouse, ever. It’s always an experience whenever you go. Yes, it’s typically really difficult to get reservations to even dine there, but for good reason. When you do, here’s what you can expect: The restaurant is a pretty non-discrete building from the outside. There’s minimal parking, so expect to have to valet your car for $8 (+ tip). After checking in inside and being escorted to your table, there’s a variety of historic rooms you could be seated at. Plan to take your time eating here - they don’t rush you and expect up to a 3 hour experience. You can order drinks or wine to start, choosing from the largest personal wine collection in the world. One recommendation: Don’t order a steak size that you normally would at other steak houses. Your meal will come with a French onion soup and bread, and then a salad to start. With your steak (my favorite is the chateaubriand), you’ll get onion strings, vegetables and a baked potato. It’s a lot of food. You also want to save some room for dessert - definitely take up the waiters offer to schedule you a table in their upstairs dessert room. I’ve definitely never been disappointed with an experience here, and I guarantee you won’t be either!

The service was wonderful, very pricey for what I could get at a another good steakhouse but I really enjoyed the evening.
I had the pineapple cake for dessert.

Absolutely amazing experience. Probably the best bang for your buck out if any of the high end steakhouses ive ever been to. The food was served perfect, timed to the moment you finished 1 course to the next. Staff was outstanding, friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
Another small piece which was so neat is that they have their dessert restaurant upstairs so its it own stand alone experience where you have privacy and ambiance. Make time, go and enjoy your day. Definitely worth the time.

Bern’s Steak House is hands down one of the best places in Tampa for steak. Between the amazing wine selection to steak selection. This is the spot for date nights or business meetings.
The service is always perfect. The steak is always cooked to perfection and the overall experience is a 10/10.
I’ve traveled to Tampa from LA just for the steak and I’ll continue to do it for as long as I live. Thank you for the amazing service every time.
Jorge Cuellar
Amazing service and steak as always. I just moved from Florida and have been down in Lakeland for a business trip. Had to stop by before I went back home. Appreciate the great food and service per usual. Hopefully I can come back soon.

My family planned a trip from Long Island to Tampa to visit my brother and celebrate my late mother’s birthday. My father had especially been to Burns a few times on his trips and he was very happy to have the family together. Thanks to the GM Mr. Russo, we had an amazing time and dinner. Frank personally reached out to me on the phone when I emailed about an issue I had prior to coming in. He went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great experience. He is very personable, kind and professional and the steakhouse is lucky to have such a great GM. Oh and the food was fantastic too! Thank you again!
Mtucker
The food was excellent. The service was great and they even had a desert room which was great.
I love my steak well done and they made it perfectly. It was not burnt or over cooked. I always tell people for can be cooked well done if you know what you're doing and their chef definitely new what they were doing. I will be definitely going back to this place.
Magaly Malpica
Food & service were spectacular as usual. Only negative was, the sat us, a table of 2 celebrating a birthday dinner, next to a table of 4. It was hard for us to hear each other speak.
DHRUV PATEL
We went it for dessert wow factor happes as soon as you enter the restaurant. They have a separate sections everywhere for fine dining experience. Wonderful staff were able to accommodate us 13 easily. Not comes the taste only one thing to say you get what you pay for. Yes it pricey but its 100% worth the money. I am going to make a reservation soon for some wine and dine. And will update the experience.

Always a treat to dine at Bern's. We waited an hour to dine in the lounge without a reservation. Felt very lucky... Good value for the excellent steaks that come with French onion soup, cheesy toast, salad, potato, and vegetable. Steak was exceptional. Service was impeccable. Get there early and enjoy one of their excellent wines.

My husband and I celebrated our 13 year anniversary and it was the best experience in a restaurant. The service, the scenery, and the fiod was amazing. The dessert room was my favorite. They gave us a little treat with a candle in addition to our dessert we ordered to celebrate our anniversary. We will come back every year now!
Mark LoGiurato
Nicely curated restaurant with terrific ambience, service, food, desserts, and cocktails. Of course it has the best wine list around and at reasonable prices. The bar scene is a great place to get a drink or a full meal. Don't miss dessert in the upstairs rooms made from old wine barrels.

All of the great things that you have heard about Bern's is true. In the world of true steak house's the prices are in line. The food is fantastic. The steaks are all excellent cuts, seasoned well, and cooked perfectly. Oh wait there is more. The service is impeccable, and the drinks are better than that. Make sure to save room for dessert.
Madison Reinsel
Bern’s steakhouse is a masterpiece of a restaurant. The ambiance is perfect, the food is wonderful, and the service is unmatched. I recently spent my birthday here and I loved every single minute of my experience. Everything I tried was delicious. The dessert room was also fantastic and we got to hear the most amazing piano player. Thank you Bern’s for a wonderful evening!
Michele Delco
Fun place. Unique decor .
Difficult to get a table but I don't think that is justified. It is not all that.
Roger Starr
Our evening at Bern's was so much more than a dinner out, it was a true dining experience. We were celebrating our anniversary and looking for a special restaurant. We like wine so that pushed Bern's to the top of the list. Their wine list is unlike anything that I have ever seen. While they have a lot of collector's bottles that most mortals couldn't afford, they also offer a great by the glass wine list as well. There are some well known consumer wines at reasonable prices available by the glass.
We started with a glass of champagne and then ordered a bottle from the 1992 vintage from one of my favorite Napa wineries. The sommelier decanted it for us and was very helpful.
Our server Erhan was outstanding and since it was our first time at Bern's, gave us the history of the restaurant and explained any question that we had. It is so nice to see restaurants with professional servers that have worked their for many years. It makes a big difference.
The food was outstanding and our filet mignon was perfectly cooked. Everything about the food was top notch. After dinner we went to the dessert room and had another amazing experience including some 30 year old tawny port.
This clearly was an expensive night out but absolutely worth every penny. My only wish is that for this caliber of restaurant that people would dress the part. I know that we live in Florida and things are more casual here but Bern's is worth dressing up for!
Adam Willis
Excellent service and excellent food. If you haven't been here this is one of the go-to places in Tampa you have to try.
It's a fancy steakhouse, so be prepared to dress up a little bit and to spend a good amount of money. It's worth it though.
They have an extensive list of wines, a large variety of steaks of all sizes and types, and you get a salad and soup with the steak.
I always get the chateaubriand steak, the flavor is phenomenal. But they have a large variety of cuts so it's a tough choice.
You have to make reservations a long time in advance so keep that in mind. This place is great for special occasions. My fiancee and I actually got engaged here recently and it was the perfect ambiance for it.
The dessert room is one of the best parts. Once you finish dinner, you'll get to go upstairs where they have a dessert room where there's a live piano player. The drinks and desserts are absolutely delicious. There's a huge variety so it's hard to really recommend something because it's all great. Shout out to the piano player for pictures of our proposal!
Highly recommend for anyone. We've been here multiple times and will continue to go back.
Arias ,
Great experience as usual. Excellent service and delicious food. Dessert room never disappoints.

Had the prix fix menu - went for an anniversary dinner and everything was top notch full of flavor. Steaks are aged and very tender. Lobster Bisque was perfectly executed, not starchy, creamy with hints of truffle. The dessert room is a must do whenever you come here. Tried quite a few desserts, scratch made macadamia nut ice cream, their Kahlua Coffee is decadent (coffee grounds dissolve in the liquor over 3 months to make this specialty).
Whitney Holtzman
The absolute best food and dining experience in Tampa. Bern's is one of the best steakhouses in the world, and people come from all over to enjoy its unique atmosphere and menu. The dessert room is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We are very lucky to get to dine with Drew when we go to Bern's. Drew remembers every fact about our family and welcomes us with open arms. He truly makes us feel like VIPs every time we're in his dining room. Drew has been at Bern's for decades, and he never takes a day off. There is nothing he doesn't know about the restaurant. He is so hard-working, and he not only has our orders memorized, he brings us the best items from the kitchen in order to make our celebrations an experience we won't forget. It's hard to imagine a special family celebration without Drew!
Jami Akins
Overall, a nice experience. The food was good, but not phenomenal. I was pleasantly surprised that the prices were not as outrageous as I was expecting and it's nice that all steak options come with a variety of sides as well as a soup and salad. Our waiter was very nice, but he messed up my order and didn't offer any helpful information like other reviews mentioned. The atmosphere has an old world charm, which felt cozy and inviting. This is just my opinion, but I found it a bit of a disappointing that the dessert room is more like a bunch of dessert pods.
Maria Alicea
Beautiful classy ambiance...the steak melts like butter in your mouth..it's a bit expensive but you are treated like royalty and desserts are upstairs along with a piano player. Excellent 5 star and above.
Erin L
As always it was a wonderful dining experience at Berns. I say “experience” because that’s exactly what it is from start to finish. The service is excellent, the food is excellent, and the wine is incredible. Courtney navigated us through many bottles of wine, starting lighter and building up to more full bodied wine. We felt like we were in a different world with our tasting experience, and she made sure to pair each one to match with our courses, and at a price point that we were comfortable with. She was amazing! If you see this, Courtney, thank you for your exquisite taste and service!
Ambur Insua
Really love the ambiance and the food was delicious. Besides the steak the best part was the dessert room. If you can request Nicholas P. He is all that and a shot of sunshine! Great personality and even better server. He had great recommendations, fast and efficient. He also was the only server that wished me a happy birthday. 10 stars! 🌟
Ayona Perera
Thank you so much Kim for this lovely gift. This is one of my favorites and also one of the best restaurants in Tampa Bay. You need to make a reservation in advance. If you are a steak lover you have so many options. I had to order from their seafood menu since I don’t eat steak. It was an amazing experience. Food was superb. Excellent service too. Pricey but worth for the experience … 💗
Joan Buckley
Loved the food, our server Cody, that explained everything to us newbies.
The dessert rooms were so cool, even know I don't eat dessert I had a fabulous after dinner drink.
My only problem was seeing people being seated not following the dress code.
If you have a dress code, it should be followed.
Momo Lebrun
Amazing, simply amazing! We just left and had a great experience. The steaks were perfectly cooked. The service was only made better thanks to Tyler, who was absolutely pleasant. We will definitely be returning and asking to sit in whatever section he happens to be supervising.
Jasmine Rodriguez
Delicious food as always. Unfortunately, my server didn’t seem to talk to me much, or even refill my water when it was out like he did to the men at my table. When spending so much at dinner, I’d like to feel treated like an adult human just the same as my dinner companions. The server was otherwise polite and helpful. We’ve been here a few times, but after this last experience I’m uncertain if we will be back.
I must mention that the dessert room is lovely, and while it is separate the option to add it to your reservation the day of your meal is wonderful.
LaToya Holloway
Well… I’m not sure where to begin! If you’re looking for an amazing atmosphere, remarkable food, and top notch service.. you’ve come to the right place! Everything about our visit was photo Necessary.. and Then … It was the Dessert room.. Oh My GOODNESS.. I can go on & on for hours.. Mitch & Hunter are the absolute best Bartenders around.. bottom line is this.. GO. EAT. DRINK. AND HAVE AN AMAZING TIME!! It’s worth every penny you’ll spend 👏🏾 Thanks To all of the staff here, we’ll definitely be back!
Tony Anderson
I’ve been a dozen times and the service is why you visit Berns. This recent visit was with 6 friends for the wine event of a lifetime and it was spectacular. Thanks Jamie (somm) and Dylan (server). We opened some unicorn bottles.
Ken Horan
A great evening the food was awesome..the dessert room is out of this world...one in a life time experience
Danielle Harding
It's been 8 years since we've been, but the food is just as amazing as we remembered it! Perfect place for our 15 year anniversary dinner. The entire meal and dessert room are an experience, I highly recommend Bern's to anyone looking for a unique, delicious experience
Denis Jordao
Great experience.
Place has different rooms and service was outstanding. Delmonico cut was very tender and loaded baked potato was delicious. They have a specific floor for desserts, which is nice and unique (desserts were a little bit too bland for my taste though).
Highly recommended!
Jack LaBrake
I review a lot of restaurants..but... Bern's is far above the caliber of establishments I usually frequent. I would go here a few times a year if I could get a reservation at my convenience. The service and the food are 5 star. The rack of lamb superb. Dining at Bern's is an experience. You owe it to yourself to just go here and enjoy the experience.
Drew McGhee
What an awesome experience and meal! Service was exceptional. They are booked for reservations a long ways out but that didn't stop us from just walking in a eating within 30 mins. You can also sit in the lounge and eat or at the lounge bar and still have access to the full menu. A big difference at Berns is that you really get a FULL meal for the price of the steak you see on the menu. I ordered a 6oz Chateaubriand that came with soup, salad, loaded baked potato, vegetable, and onion straws. It was more than I could finish in one sitting. If you want dessert you make a reservation during your dinner for the dessert area which is upstairs. I won't spoil that experience to much other than to say it was incredible. If you're really looking for go for it, order the 1848 bottle of wine they have on their 188 page wine list (largest private wine collection in the world). Needless to say, I would feel grateful to dine there again and again and not feel like I was getting gouged for a meal.
Read the menu and restaurant guidelines before you go to make sure you'll have the best time.
erin hagenbuch
This was the best steak I’ve ever had! I don’t usually order steak when I go out because I don’t like to pay for something that may not be cooked as well as my husband does it, but this was exceptional. I had the 12 oz Delmonico cooked “black and blue” and it was perfect. The steaks come with 5 sides so I didn’t leave hungry! We then went upstairs for dessert, which was equally as delicious. I can’t recommend this enough!
Christina Bjorn
One of the best steakhouses in the country and the dessert room is spectacular!
Tihara Williams
One of my favorite dining experiences. There is not much to say, but go and see and taste the awesomeness for yourself.
John Hougen
Liked it but... First, the food is always excellent. This time while it was tasty, it was lukewarm to cold. Why didn't we send it back? There were 8 of us and our server seemed stressed already. We were not in a hurry, normally enjoy the pace of each course, we just felt our server was less attentive than what we're used to. Experience in the dessert area was better. We will be back. Just not a good evening at Bern's.
Adam Wilson
What can I say? Perfection. Had the Berns chicken, my wife had the steak which was melt in your mouth wonderful, we had a 1979 Ridge Zinfandel, the Caesar salad, and the amazing tuna tartar. We then moved onto the dessert room and indulged in ice cream, chocolate cake, and a bottle of 1988 Sauternes dessert wine. What an experience and it is the reason we keep coming back to Tampa, just to eat at Berns.
December 2021: had another A+++ experience! Doesn't get any better!
M B
Berns is very good at what they do. The steak was cooked perfectly as requested. The baked potato was delicious. I would recommend losing the onion rings and adding more green beans. Our server Tyler could teach a class (he’s that good). The martini was very good. You have to go upstairs for the desert experience. I don’t want to spoil the surprise so I’ll skip the details. It was a wonderful experience.
Angela Ventura
All around excellent. Great service, delicious food. Steaks cooked perfectly, crab cake delicious, French Onion soup tasty. Definitely returning-great food paired with great service means we’ll keep coming back! Only downfall, hard to get a reservation!
Cindy Chiu
The steaks are so delicious, some of the best in the country IMHO. We ordered at the bar and the vibe was perfect for a Friday night.
Devony Chanel
Dinner was incredible, I highly recommend the Filet Mignon! Our server was warm & friendly. I’m so glad we also visited the dessert room! Crème Brûlée, Dark Chocolate Cake and Cafe Con Leches were the perfect end to our evening!
barry girsch
If I could give it more stars I would.
The service was impeccable and food was delicious, lots of gluten free things to eat. Main meal and appys were delicious and dessert was in a separate area. Macadamia ice cream was out of this world. Can't wait to go back.
Excellent experience
Mike Sorensen
It was good but didn't live up to the hype (main course). Missed the finish on the steak, didn't refill wine glasses. Great selection of bourbon and whiskey. Wine list is top notch. Dessert floor couldn't have been better.
Nathan
The hype is real. Everything about the experience was excellent, the service was outstanding and the food was exceptional. Easily the best steak and one of the best meals I've ever had anywhere. I won't stop talking about it, and I have already scheduled a second reservation.
A tip for getting a reservation, as it took me some time; the days fill up very quickly all the way out through their 60 day window. While there are usually sporadic openings for 9PM, finding an earlier time may be difficult. You may luck out finding an opening on relatively short notice like I did when I checked one day, but for the most part you will need to choose your day in advance, and be on the reservation page at 12AM the day it opens to ensure you get the day/time you want.
Lexsy Lex
I have been to just about every steakhouse in Tampa I’ve been to Charlie’s I’ve been to Ruth Chris any place that you can think that is reputable but Berns is everything that they say it is and more. The ambience is serene it’s very clean and spacious the food is top tier steak literally melts in your mouth . Desserts are mouth watering ,waiters are very nice and informative. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a calm peaceful good night with amazing food
David Touring
A real 5/5, great service was number one on the list. For was excellent. A shot out to Kim, serving the cocktails with a real smile and to Lynn for taking care of us at the bar.
The steak comes with all the fixings, so no need to order appetizers, however do try the shrimp cocktail, haha. French onion soup was delicious!
Atmosphere was definitely Steakhouse traditional. The crowd was lively and very friendly.
This is a definite go to location in Tampa Bay.
Kena York
Bern's was amazing but you pay for what you get. The food, service, and atmosphere were all superb. I had the 8 oz filet and a glass of wine and it was $90 , but It was very much worth it. The dessert floor was fantastic as well. I adored all the wine and spirit menus.
Emily Snedeker
My husband and I LOVEEEE Bern’s! Though it’s pricey, you do get 3 courses (including sides with your meal). Their service is excellent, and their dessert room is also great. This is one of my favorite spots in Tampa for a special occasion dinner—or just a really nice treat yourself “just because” meal! Reservations are nearly impossible, so have an open mind about the date or time you’d like to go. Valet parking is also a steep $8 (and they say it’s mandatory) so just be prepared for that unless you want to walk from down the street.
Nkenge Carter
The experience was amazing! The food was superb! It is every expensive but well worth the price for the EXPERIENCE. Would not go there often just for the food. It was really good but I've had the same level of good steaks elsewhere, however, the dessert selection, quality and taste...unmatched!! Service.. excellence.
Michael Thomas
A friend recommended this place as a must do in Tampa. They were right... Food was fantastic, staff was attentive and extremely knowledgeable. Wine list is 178 pages... Bourbon list is extensive.. Dessert room is a must
I'm seriously trying to find an excuse to drive 9 hours to go to dinner again.
Terrell Grooms
The best dining experience I've ever experienced. Food, desserts, atmosphere, professional wait staff that's been there for years. Our waiter in the dining area was knowledgeable on everything from food to the restaurant's history. The dessert dining area is very unique and quite pleasurable. The atmosphere will make you feel like kings and queens. Definitely a must to try in the Tampa Bay area.
Wisdom Tooth
What can I say.. absolutely perfect experience. From initial greeting to the dessert room, everything was 5 star. The food is out of this world.
Jack Levy
Having recently been to Ruth's Chris, Charley's and now Bern's I can say that I liked Bern's third of the three. That isn't to say it was bad, far FAR from it. It was delicious!! But I think of the three this was the last place for food. Service though, above and beyond! Atmosphere was a bit dark to me but that's a personal preference.
James Craig
We have been going to Berns for years and yet reviewed them. We dine all over Tampa and plus various restaurants across America when we travel. Not to mention we used to be residents of Vegas and we are comparing those high-end restaurants as well and nothing else compares. The hospitality does not compare to any other fine establishments equivalent. Hunter, Lynn, Alison and Mitch always provide top notch customer service and endless recommendations. The food.. there isn’t much to say about the food - only quality and taste is always amazing. Because of their warm hospitality they offer and amazing food choices - we always return for those two reasons.
Chris Green
We visited on a Thursday with no reservation. All the staff were very helpful, they accommodated us with seats near the bar and apps and beverages while we waited for a table. Our server Jesse was incredible!!! The food was excellent and the wine list was unbelievable!!! Next time we visit, I will absolutely request Jesse again!
Keri Beaty
The food and staff were incredible! My only complaint was that we came for our anniversary and even though we were sat at a small couples table and were right in front of each other we still struggled to hear each other over the very large, loud dinner party sat in the same room. Another couple right behind us had actually said something to the waiter as well. By the time we were done eating we were ready to leave even though we had reserved a table in the dessert room.
Izzy M
My husband and I annually have dinner at Berns for our wedding anniversary. We just had dinner last night and service was outstanding how it usually is, but I was a little disappointed to see that the Chicken Bern was removed from the menu. We also had reservations for the dessert room upstairs and was saddened to see that the Baked Alaska has been drastically changed, I gave it a try and honestly the original one was better. In my opinion the mint chocolate chip does not pair well with the blended liqueurs and the chocolate cake at the bottom (tasted like I was eating toothpaste). I’m really hoping the old version is brought back with the iconic macadamia nut ice cream and the vanilla cake.

Update-
Bern's has reinstated our reservation. I am happy that they care about their customers.
Unfortunately, my sister made a reservation back in November and we were just told that our reservation for this Wednesday night at 5 pm for 6 people was canceled with no explanation. I hope that someone from management can rectify this for us. We were looking forward to going to Bern's and I know my elderly father was especially looking forward to it. Bern's -
Please don't respond with your pat form statement that you have given to other people. I appreciate it.

I had the most amazing experience here. It was my first time visiting this ionic restaurant and I was not disappointed. It is truly a memorable experience and great way to have an experience you will never forget. We also visited the dessert room and that was just perfection.
Paul Zagorski
Bern's is a must-experience Tampa gem. This is the steakhouse that all others are compared to in my book. The service is detailed and attentive, the menu is phenomenal...and that's all before you go upstairs to the Harry Waugh Dessert Room.
Jake was our server this evening and was a pleasure. He guided us through the menu and while we didn't have wine, we overheard him helping the table near us through pairings and flavors. My Chateaubriand was brilliantly grilled and the garlic butter added a savoriness. All of the steaks comes with salad and an array of dressings, French onion soup, a baked potato, and veggies. Everything is fresh and made in house. Oh, and don't forget an order of the truffle mac-n-cheese. I definitely recommend Bern's for a romantic date night, a celebration, or just an amazing night out in Tampa!
With Covid-19 restrictions, we weren't able to do the kitchen tour or wine cellar tour. But we will definitely be back and hope to see one of the largest collections of wines in the world. Add this to your list if you're in Tampa.
M M
I was coming to Bern’s with my parents back in the day and the tradition continues over the years! The tour of the wine cellar is phenomenal. From the awesome appetizers & steaks, to the desert room enjoying the banana foster. Five-star restaurant at its finest!!
Scott Brana
The dinner went great. Then after that it went downhill. It took 40 minutes just to get into the dessert room which is supposed to be ready when you're done with your dinner. Also there was so many people not dressed appropriately to the dress code that it was ridiculous. Unfortunately burn's steakhouse is going downhill quickly. Also many technical problems in the desert booth areas you could not hear any of the piano players music it was just awful. We had to play our own music with our phones. 3 stars.
Ketan Moran
Bern's is not a restaurant it is an experience. The waiters are very attentive and are quite knowledgeable. The star feature of this restaurant restaurant is the tour to the wine cellar and the desert room. As far as steak houses go it is above average but not the best. But remember the ambiance is what Bern's provides that others do not.
Richard Tippin
Never a bad time coming here. Excellent food, wonderful service.
Jennifer Coffman
I love that it's just like it was 20+ years ago. My hubby & I had our first kiss in the piano desert room. And went back recently to just have dessert with my BIL. It's still a wonderful experience!
Y H
Bern’s delivers!! Amazing attention to detail. Our waiter was still in training, given the burgundy tie, but Kirsten was perfect!! The martinis were incredible. The baked oysters were so delicious, I could have made a meal of them! The lobster bisque was stupendous. Our steaks were wonderful and cooked to perfection. It is a lot of food! Plan accordingly but definitely plan on going because it is worth it! And surprisingly, the bill was very affordable. I appreciate that so much given our current economic state. Way to go, Berns! Please stay as you are and don’t change. You’re a breath of fresh air!
We ended our night at the dessert room which was special and interesting. We sat in the piano room, and our dessert waitress was so sweet and thoughtful. They didn’t have the baked Alaska which was a real bummer, but we were all happy anyway. What a unique experience! I’m not from the area, but what a truly special evening. Will return when I’m in the area again.
Paul Baldwin
This experience was perfection up until the very end. Our server was very nice and helped us with our wine choices. Our steaks were cooked well and everything was grand. Now time for dessert: you cannot go wrong with creme brulee. When it came time for our dessert drinks, I ordered my favorite amaretto. After about 5 minutes, our server came back with the unfortunate news that the amaretto I wanted was out of stock. No worries, I'll have my 2nd favorite. Another 5 minutes, again I was hit with the "unfortunately, sir...". Fine, let's try something completely different: "Unfortunately, sir..." at this point our dessert came and went and so did my wonderful night. After the 3rd strike, I was out of there. Great food, but I feel having such a large bottle menu does the restaurant no good if you don't have said bottles in stock.
Hannah Frank
The best steakhouse I've been to. Everything is perfect. The dessert room is a wow. I'll definitely come back to try other dishes.
Ali Mhamdi
Amazing food and experience. From the amazing server to the unique upscale decor this was truly a great restaurant. My girl and I both ordered the Filet mignon and it was spectacular, came with the best French onion soup I’ve ever had! Afterwards we enjoyed desert upstairs and it was definitely a must after dinner! The sundae was great and once again the espresso martini was the best I’ve ever had. While it was expensive it was definitely worth every dollar! Do yourself a favor and book yourself a reservation :)
Aaron Lyon
My family loves going to Bern's for special occasions. The food and service never disappoints. Over the years we have visited some truly incredible restaurants and steakhouses, but the Châteaubriand is definitely our favorite though not everyone agrees. What makes it different is that it is dry aged for seven weeks. It is truly the only steak we will order when we go, but don't ignore the rest of the menu and their specials. Of course no trip to Bern's is complete without a visit to the Harry Waugh Dessert Room for another family favorite and house specialty, the Baked Alaska!
Sue S
As always, it was a fabulous experience. The filet minon and strip steak are what keeps us coming back. The dessert room is spectacular.
Terry Beaulieu
Dinner was OK but not as great as I expected! Waitress was not very personable or attentive - didn’t really explain anything and we waited quite awhile when first seated. We started with cocktails - my Bloody Mary was tasty but only garnish was a lime wedge - my sister enjoyed her lemon drop martini but neither were very special - appetizers were actually the highlight - shrimp cocktail and steamed Maine lobster did not disappoint! For dinner - French onion soup was delicious - salad was ample with a nice variety but was served at room temperature. We both ordered chateaubriand - her medium and me medium rare - when served I asked waitress if I had the medium rare as ordered and she confirmed but halfway through we realized we had the wrong plates and she had mixed up the orders - bernaise sauce was odd and not even really the right color but wine sauce was spot on. Baked potatoes were okay but not real hot and arrived several minutes ahead of entree and we had to ask twice for water refills - again - nothing was particularly terrible but it also wasn’t as impressive as we expected! Did go to dessert room which was fun - as full as we were from dinner we still enjoyed our macadamia sundae and 12 layer chocolate cake! Overall the restaurant is maybe starting to show it’s age and is a bit pricey for just an OK meal.
My Ackerman Team
We had a very nice experience. Excellent service, very good food and enjoyable atmosphere. The only disappointment was a 25-minute wait to be seated in the dessert room.
Alyce Head
My family and I will go out of our way to eat here. Not only are we met with beautiful ambiance, but we are also met with the most kind staff and amazing food. You get so much food for the price and the wine list is out of this world. I wish everyone could eat here and experience everything Bern’s has to offer. Looking forward to my next visit
Sajedur Rahman
What a amazing restaurant. Has an old NYC steak house vibe and amazing ambiance. The steaks were amazing and really well priced. And the dessert room upstairs was a great surprise. Reservations are hard to get so plan accordingly.
JLH
Still our favorite! Berns delivers the magic every time we visit. From quick seating to knowledgeable staff, the food is stellar and the wine is fantastic. Nothing but stars for this top notch location!!!
David Bliss
The service was impeccable. There was 3 of us. They've shortened the menu b/c of the pandemic but not a big deal. We had the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer in the bar while we waited. We had a rez but our AirBnB host said to be there an hour early which we were glad we did. Our dinner server was excellent and made us feel special by giving us a card for our anniversary. The French onion soup (1st course) was the best I ever had but somewhat difficult to eat as they warned us. Then the salad was fantastic and freshly made. I had the blue cheese dressing - superb. After that they brought the main course which was carefully prepared. We all had high quality steaks. My son couldn't finish his 8 oz. filet mignon. After paying for the dinner downstairs, we were escorted past the kitchen upstairs to the dessert room (you pay separately for dessert). No tours are offered right now. My wife and son had bananas foster and I had the banana cheese pie. The server was witty and explained the history of the dessert room. The deserts were delicious of course. We then left after 2 hours. Our valet literally ran for our vehicle. It was pricey BUT an experience I'll never forget and well worth the price. $$$$
Sandra V
Great place. You pay for the atmosphere as food was good but not out of this world. Dessert bar was really good, parking was hard to find, we did valet. They take card for valet and also for valet tip.
Bernie Berland
Not near as enjoyable as past experiences. Service started out good but dwindled rather quickly. Dress code was implemented yet there was a young girl sitting on the floor in the dining room and nothing said. Dessert room also disappointing as well. However, filet and chateubriand were excellent.
Liz Hart
First time at this restaurant for a party of two in their mid 30s.
Service for dinner was good, but the food and drinks were unremarkable. I was really unimpressed with the caesar salad, but the snapper entree was good. My husband had a dry aged t-bone steak cooked rare, and he really enjoyed it. I tasted it and it was flavorful. The dinner was a decent portion size, but it was not worth the price. The steak tartar appetizer was very delicious. Probably the best part of the whole experience. But honestly, I've had better food at more reasonable prices at other restaurants, with more modern decor and better lighting with more exceptional service.
I went back and forth trying to decide on my entree. I considered the filet mignon because the steak entrees are accompanied by several side dishes, with two of those being French onion soup and onion rings. I cannot eat onion, so I asked the waiter if those items could be substituted with another item. He said no substitutions. I was disappointed that they were not willing to accommodate dietary restrictions, even if there was a small up charge. Like, why can't I get French fries instead of onion rings?
Noise level in the dining room was high due to a lot of young kids being there, but that's just luck of the draw. The rooms are really dark generally, so it's difficult to read the menu. With a reservation at this restaurant being so coveted, I was hoping that the dining experience would be more private, but the tables with other parties were kinda close together. The decor is dated and tacky, which I'm sure was intentional but I wasn't into it. I really didn't enjoy the ambiance. So dark and red and cluttered.
Service in the dessert room was fast with the coffee, but really, really slow to get the dessert. I almost wanted to tell the waitress nevermind because it took so long to get the dessert. Once I got the dessert, it was also unremarkable. It was presented in a pretty way, but again, I've had better. Plus the floor was really sticky. It was a private booth, which was nice, but it felt dirty.
$8 for valet parking. Fast and easy.
Sorry to say, but this restaurant is overhyped. Not recommended
Jared NS
Best steak I have ever had in my entire life. Everything we ate was incredibly delicious, and the desert room was insane. This restaurant should be on every foodies bucket list worldwide.

This place is worth flying in for. Robert took great care of us in the dessert room and he’s a top quality host despite being new to the job! Kenny on the piano is a force of nature and he’s so friendly about taking song requests - he’s been there for decades and plays almost every night at Bern’s.
Megan Caico
Amazing experience from beginning to end! The escargot app is a must... oysters to die for! Meal comes with soup, salad, baked potato, veggie, and onion rings making the cost of the steak well worth it!
Aleksandra Borodina
Atmosphere of a tomb or a Dracula's castle and not in a fun way.
Food was not so good. Steak was ok, but everything else is not. Dry, over salted, too complicated, but ingredients don't go well together.
Service was very good! Our server was excellent.
Stephen Smith
Great experience. The steaks and the onions were top notch too. The wait staff was friendly too. The best part was the dessert room. It a great way to end the night.
Jennifer Ruebeling
Hard to complain about Berns. I just like it for the atmosphere mostly and their dessert room is really cool! I hear they have a special steak lunch, but you have to ask about it! I still have yet to try it! I usually go for dinner/dessert!
Matthew Lostaglia
Absolutely incresible restaurant. The food was top of the line which is what you'd expect. The valeting was smooth, which is what you'd expect. The options and variety were stellar, which is what you'd expect. The service was not service, it was more like a guide taking you on a journey for the experience of the evening. Everything from the appetizers, to the caviar, wine and steaks were perfectly matched only to be followed up by a separate private room for the desserts. The insanely perfect customer service continued with our next server in the dessert second floor as well. Couldn't have asked or dreamed up a better dining experience!
Beth Baar
Pricey, neat atmosphere, but snooty waiter. Told me I was so lucky to be at that restaurant, not in a nice way. The saving grace was the dessert room of old wine casks. I would go just for the dessert room.
Brian Glas
Wow. 5 stars isn't enough for Berns. Where else can you get an outstanding 1978 Rhone red wine by the glass for $10. Nowhere other than Berns. Steaks were excellent. Service outstanding. Desert room just took the whole experience to 11.

What a great experience! Our cocktail server and bartender Kim were on point, friendly, quite observant, attentive & professional! Everyone was great. Seeing the large, busy staff in the open kitchen was impressive! Trays of food & drinks were being carried around all over the place.
Last night on a Sunday evening (10/9/22, around 6pm), we put our name on the list for dining at the bar, had a drink in the cozy lounge, made new friends sitting across from us and then dined at the bar. There were 8 people ahead of us on the list when we walked in, but we had fun chatting up a couple friendly ladies. What an epic dinner!
We got:
- a great shrimp cocktail. The house made smoky remoulade is deelish. I even kept it to dip my steak in it lol
- split a medium rare porterhouse with bearnaise sauce
- 2 orders of the steak entree accompaniments for another $19: french onion soup with fancy toasts, a large, delicious salad (the cabernet vinaigrette was great), loaded baked potato, green beans and the onion strings! My guy said the onion strings are probably the best he ever had and I agree lol I loved the generous pile of crispy onion strings too!
-sauteed trumpet mushrooms, which were delicious
-fresh heirloom tomatoes with a great dressing
I think we ordered too much. Haha!
I have never been to any restaurant that has such a large list of wines by the glass! It was quite impressive. I enjoyed a couple different pinot noirs. If I remember correctly (after the wine lol), our friendly dessert room waiter said the wine storage area takes up a block! It must be true because the wine and spirits list is tremendous.
We headed up to the dessert floor (which you can get to by elevator too) and had a lovely time listening to music in our cozy space. You can press the buttons on the wall to select the type of music. The dessert and after dinner drink menu is really interesting and creative. What an enjoyable time lingering over 2 desserts and coffee drinks! After dessert, we walked around and discovered that there’s a small room with a pianist with tables for 2 in case you want to request that.
We met Sadie, a wonderful manager there who was informative & engaging when we asked about the restaurant, history and even if there were any books on Berns. Turns out that there is a book. So we purchased a beautiful and interesting Bern’s book that includes their history and recipes with colorful and droolworthy photos.
I normally don’t write such long reviews, but felt compelled to share so that you make a point to go. We have dined at great steakhouses all over NYC/Long Island and this was a nice place to visit in FL.
Go hungry! A must. Thank you to the entire staff for a great experience!

The gold standard for service. The food is very high quality. Great alcohol selection as well, both liquors and wines. Eating here is truly an experience, set aside time to enjoy it thoroughly

It is expensive but totally worth it! It’s not only eating out but having a food experience. The staff is really knowledgable and they are all in for you to have a really hood dinning experience. The dessert room in the top floor is a must
Terrell Grooms
This is the best dining experience in the Tampa Bay area! Hands down! Period! It's great. It is expensive and you do need reservations (3-6 months in advance is preferred if you want a good time slot). Really!!! Take your time. Please make room for dessert as this is a special treat. Try the Banana Foster, you'll be glad you did. The wait staff are all awesome! The food is all full of flavor...the best from the least to the exquisite! I had the lamb chops...OMG!!! Make your reservations NOW for celebrating birthday, anniversary, marriage proposal, date with loved one or close friends. Just make sure you set aside plenty of time. No rush, just catering to your comfortable dining experience. What are you waiting on, make your reservation!

If you’re looking for a special night out, this is the place to go. When you dine at Bern’s it’s an experience; with the unique atmosphere, unparalleled customer service, and the one of a kind dessert room - it’s hard to disappoint. The steaks are delicious and the sides come with the meal, which isn’t the case for a lot of high end steakhouses in the Bay Area. If you come here, you have to go to the dessert room. I 100% recommended getting their frozen coffee drink (I can’t remember the exact name-sorry). If the restaurant were closer to me, I would go there just for that drink.
My one and only complaint is that they changed up the soups a bit, so now they’re serving them deconstructed. For example, I got the corn vichyssoise. The waiter brought the soup in two parts. All of the solid pieces were in the soup bowl and then the broth/liquid portion of the soup was in a pitcher; which he then poured on the solid pieces in the soup bowl. This isn’t that big of a deal, but my boyfriend and I both thought that this took away from the flavor of the soup. In our opinions, soup is a dish that tastes better the longer it sits. This way, all the components of the soup have a chance to absorb all the flavor.
Regardless of that, we alway love going to Berns.
Yvette's Girl
An exceptional dining experience in a relaxing European style atmosphere. Best steaks you could ever have, along with other choices. Vegetables are fresh from their farm. Service is first rate. The handmade special sauces are a deliciously unique addition to your meal. I have photos of only our desserts from the second floor. Don't skip this! Choices of special coffees and desserts to finish the Bern's experience.

It's a beautiful restaurant and the food was good but our server wasn't great. We took our dad there for his birthday. My wife and I eat a plant-based diet so our expectations for vegan options at a steakhouse were already pretty low. But when asking questions about the menu, our server, Phillip, seemed to shrug off our questions. He was supposed to ask the chef about any other options for us but never followed up. When it came time for us to order he said, "not much of choice for you." There was only one thing we could eat which was a plate of roasted veggies. That would have been fine except we didnt realize everyone else's order came with a first and second course. The restaurant spaces out the time between the first and second courses so it was a good hour or so of us sitting there, not eating, while the rest of the family ate their soup and salad before getting their steak, which also came with sides. I thought he would suggest some other appetizers for us but I got the impression that he was purposely ignoring the vegans at the table. We did mention it was our first time at the restaurant so I was a little annoyed that he didnt provide more information or suggestions. In the end, our plate of veggies was very delicious. This review is mostly for the server and not the restaurant.

Took hubby for his birthday tonight and the food and service was amazing. Have not been in over 13 years and I must say it was a pleasure to return.
The onion soup was a delight and not salty. Hubby had the delmonico which was cooked to perfection and the Rosemary chicken was divine. Server Dylon was attentive, friendly and very well versed in his job. You could tell he loved working there. Dessert staff presented hubby with a birthday cake and we enjoyed our time in the wine barrel made rooms. Looking forward to returning again.

I categorize this legendary steakhouse as a bucket list restaurant destination. Pre-Covid you get a tour of the kitchen and famed wine cellar but that was not offered during our visit, understandably so. Hey, it just gives us an excuse to go back for the next special occasion! We did feel the special uniqueness as soon as we pulled up to the valet. The 1950s ambiance exudes from the red carpet the moment you step foot through the grand double doors. You really step into a red carpet in the entry. The reception room, where they take your reservation details, is all aglow from the red wall sconces and the regal chandeliers. The hostess directs you to have a seat on one of the many red velvet chairs or Edwardian style couches or you may slip off to the bar and enjoy a cocktail. We sat and admired all the art and sculptures surrounding us. But it wasn't long before a hostess came to escort us to our table. As she led us down to the dining quarters closest to the stairs of the dessert room, she asked if we were celebrating a special occasion.... Of course I announced it was our anniversary.
We were led to the nook where our dining area was, it was very spacious and very socially distanced. There was one couple finishing up & paying their bill and another couple just starting their salad when we sat down, otherwise the room was very quiet and private. We received paper copies of the traditional menu and wine list and all of the servers and hostesses were wearing masks and gloves. A+ for covid-19 safety precautions!
Our server greeted us promptly and was just a happy anniversary and then proceeded to take our drink order. We ordered a couple of waters, a Jack and Coke for my husband and a Coke with a lime twist for myself. I don't drink alcohol, I'm definitely a cheap date, except for tonight of course!
Our server brought back our drinks and asked if we had any questions about the menu. I told him that I did my research, refraining from letting him know I'm a food blogger/ reviewer and Yelper, he then replied there was no need for him to go over anything with me. I replied that I still wanted to hear what he had to say but I think he was a little annoyed with me and my Bern's "research"! This was only one of 2 hiccups last night.
After much due diligence, my husband and I both ordered the 10 oz Filet Mignons his medium rare and mine medium. Our server asked if we'd like garlic butter with our steaks in which we gleefully replied YES!!! All afternoon I anticipated adding the Bearnaise sauce to my filet but forgot about it until my steak arrived. The only reason I remembered is the steak seemed a little dry and in need of some salt and pepper and seasoning and I realized we had not gotten our garlic butter on our filet mignons. In hindsight I wish I had asked our server for some salt or even would have liked having salt and pepper on the table. This was hiccup number two. Mind you these were minor hiccups, still a five-star evening! Our dinners included an amazing French onion soup served with garlic and honey wheat toasts, a fresh garden house salad. The hardest decision of the evening was choosing a salad dressing!! I had heard amazing feedback regarding the macadamia vanilla bean vinaigrette and knowing that my husband's not a salad eater and I would inherit his I decided to choose a different salad dressing and see which one I liked best. Our server kindly suggested the white balsamic Italian and it was an amazing selection, so tangy and satisfying with chunks of olives and garlic in it! But I have to say, my favorite of the 2 was the macadamia vanilla bean vinaigrette!!! Our buttery soft filet mignon were cooked absolutely to perfection. There was a steak knife at our table but it was truly unnecessary for this meal. My only regret was not calling the server's attention to the missing garlic butter or requisite salt but otherwise it had a great beefy flavor and well worth every penny that the 10 oz of quality beef cost us! I can't forget to include the scrumptious loaded baked potato, onion straws and vegetable de jour.

This was, without question, the best restaurant experience I've ever had. It was so good I didn't even mind waiting ~15 min for to be seated after arriving on time... The restaurant is gorgeous and the bar area is super comfy while you wait.
Came with a group of 8. The waiter was courteous, attentive and a sommelier to boot! He advised us not to order a round of appetizers because the soup + salad + steak combo would be more than enough. We scoffed at this suggestion due to our steak eating prowess, but in hindsight we're glad we listened. For starters we had the lobster bisque (good), house salad (good) and their "steak sampler." It's three 4oz cuts of meat (filet, delmanico and an A5 wagyu.) I literally could only eat half of it (and I polish 16oz NY strip steaks on the regular.) I can't say it was the absolute best steak I've had (with the Delmonico being the highlight), but it was certainly tasty. But that's not all...
When we finished, our waiter said he was taking us to the desert room. In my mind I'm thinking this will be a little nook in the back with several pastries... But I was sorely mistaken. These guys have a WHOLE OTHER FLOOR just for people eating dessert. And. It. Was. Amazing. We started with this coffee like drink with liqueur; all I can tell you is it tasted like a milkshake. My NEXT dessert was their pineapple upside cake which I tore thru in minutes. Yes it was expensive, and yes it was worth it
If you are in Tampa - go. Take care.

Everything about Berns is great except trying to get a reservation. Apparently there's an underground group that gets them 60 days out at midnight and sells them, I wasn't able to find anything but a news article to confirm this but I got my reservation the old-fashioned way. Anyway, the food was great, the steak was amazing, you don't get nickel and dimed with all the sides, they really just do a great presentation and then the dessert room is the best in the bay. #teamcocco approved

Celebrated my bday at Bern’s in a very small group due to pandemic. Lovely experience and ambiance from lobby to private vintage dessert room. Extraordinary food; diverse and extended wine selection. Impeccable service with extremely knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Good size and delicious portions in all courses. We started with escargot and chateaubriand carpaccio. 2nd course (included as a side of main course)French onion soup and wedge salad. Main course, we enjoyed the amazing tasty aged chateaubriand steak with green beans and loaded potatoes. Dessert room, we had Irish coffee, Mint tea, Chocolate Peanut Butter Truffle, strawberry sorbet and crème brûlée. Simply delightful.

My wife has been trying to go to Bern's Steak house for many many years, On her 75th Birthday our Boys took us to the Steak. House!!! It was a Amazing Experience, Best Steak and Dessert Bar Ever !!! Peace ✌️

The most memorable dining experience. Blair, our server, was a silver tie. He did such an amazing job. Ten stars for every course. We started with the escargot then I had the 11oz chateaubriand steak and my partner had the delmonico. Both were amazing. The delmonico had the perfect amount of fat in it and the flavor was the best I've ever had tried. My chateaubriand was perfectly tender and medium rare. The deserts were delightful and fun. The kitchen is 6000 sq feet.
We will be going back soon for sure. If you want a dining experience, this is your place.

Had dinner at Berns yesterday while sitting at the bar. What a fantastic experience! From the warm greeting by the valet team, to the hostess who greeted me, to Hunter who added me to the bar seat list, to Marissa who brought me a delicious Old Fashioned and 2-cheese app, and finally Allison who made great pinot noir and cab choices and took such great of me for dinner, BRAVO!!
It had been at least five years since I visited, and this gem of a dining experience was just as spectacular as every other of my times dining over the last 20+ years.

Bern's has great selections on the menu. Our dinning service was excellent. Matt made our dinning experience even better with his genuine smile and professionalism. Our Delmonico steaks came out perfect.
The dinning room can be very noisy. We could not hear each other talking.
They offered a tour through kitchen and the wine seller. The last stop was dessert room.
At Dessert room, there were about 4- 5 hostesses lined up. They seemed to be too busy chatting instead of acknowledging customers. No greeting when we walked in and only blank stares and no words when we were leaving.
Service inside the dessert room was good.
Overall good foods, but service in some area needs an improvement.

This place is very hard to get a reservation for but if you do, you will not be disappointed. The food and service was top notch. I've been to a lot of steakhouses and the filet mignon here was as good as you are going to get anywhere, and probably better. Steak dinner comes with plenty of food and it's not just a throw in. The soup, salad, baked potato, onion strings and green beans that come with a steak dinner are all phenomenal. Was full but couldn't stop eating. The flavor of the steak was incredible and perfectly cooked. Will definitely try to get another res in the future. Dress up because this place is fancy shmancy.

The Bern's Standard for Service. Quality, Atmosphere, Personal Attention for the table was ever present. Our Server was Excellent!!!
The Desert Room was a Great Finish for our Birthday Celebration!!!!!

As soon as you walk through the doors, you have already stepped back in time. The brick red plush carpet, walls and decor give it an ambience of another time. There are a dozen of smaller choppier rooms making each more of an intimate dining experience. The staff is remarkably attentive and treat you like an old friend from beginning to end. We had a reservation for 8. The bar suggested a house cocktail “a gin sour” and it was perky and fun. They assisted with a very nice bottle of red and we order stone crab, shrimp, and oysters. It arrived at both sides of the table and it was and delicious and fresh as it could be. We followed with steaks. I ordered the chateaubriand filet 9oz at $45. Each steak comes with a mini French onion. That perhaps was the only slightly bland food I tried. Caramelization was needed for the onions in the broth but the Guyere cheese was melted nicely on top. The steaks were flavorful and cooked well. It included a baked potato. It could use a little more attention, more butter and salt and pepper perhaps but the non included sides offered looked more intriguing. The lobster Mac and cheese came in huge proportions and was a great accompaniment. In addition, the cream corn was on the small side but very delicious. Everyone seemed to be very pleased with their choices. Just when you think it’s time to go home, they guide you upstairs to the dessert floor. You are sat in these smaller strange shaped dividers to enjoy after dinner drinks and dessert. We order their long time favorite since the 50’s Banana Pie. It was a throw back to simpler times. This was great dining but also an experience! Make your reservation now. They book up months in advance. Berns Steakhouse should always keep their uniqueness. Although not what you usually expect in fine dining, it’s a reminder of the basics that many restaurants miss: Excellent service, fresh delicious food and creating the dining experience.

I just went for dessert and it was fantastic. Great experience from A to Z.

an outstanding meal from an old school steakhouse and do not miss the dessert room experience

If this is the best that Tampa has to offer the city is stuck in the past.
We had 3:30 Thanksgiving reservations. The low red lighting makes it difficult to see when entering from the sunshine. I almost collided with a female employee with a tray of glasses at the small entry. This restaurant is surviving on its past reputation. This allows it to charge exorbitant prices for an average experience. Employees are snobbish and seem to prefer older white customers.
The steak was good but nothing special. My waiter neglected to tell mention the included sides. I have a nut allergy and was surprised to see green bean almondine. After the plate was sent back a female "manager " came to the table and very loudly asked if I told the waiter ahead about my allergy. I tried to explain that we both had some responsibility in this situation. All fine dining restaurants usually inform diners of what comes with a dish. The dish was taken away but I was told that they would only remove and replace the greenbeans. For safety my only choice was to take the steak home for my dog. Nut allergies are dangerous.
The directions to the dessert room were not clear and were given at the start of the meal. Our waiter and most of the staff ignored us wondering around the entryway trying to find the dessert room. Finally someone noticed and pointed us in the right direction. The dessert menu is very limited. Especially if you have a number allergy. The booth was extremely small and uncomfortable. Again, the area was unnecessarily dark. Coffee refills were nonexistent.
The restaurant felt cold, dark and unwelcoming. Lots of staff standing around doing nothing and no acknowledging diners. They were not busy. All customers should be acknowledged both upon arrival and also when leaving.
This was not a fine dining experience.
In this case you do not get what you pay for.
More of a money grab than an enjoyable holiday dinner.

What a great experience! I wasn't sure what to expect of this place but I was very satisfied. The food and presentation was phenomenal, as well as the service and experience. I would definitely recommend this place, and it's not that expensive as you think.
I can't give a 5 star because our waiter was a little too attentive to serving us, to the point where it was annoying and awkward. I appreciate you making conversation and checking on us but please let US enjoy OUR date. Also I was told it was an upscale dressy place, no sneakers, shorts, or sandals, yet I saw plenty of that and made us feel extremely over dressed.
Overall, it was a great experience and I would go back. I thought it would break my wallet but the bill was a lot smaller than I expected. Definitely go try it out, and be sure to get dessert upstairs! Also, dress nice, but no need to wear a 3 Piece suit!

Bern's Steakhouse was amazing from beginning to end. Our server James B. was outstanding with his warm and friendly demeanor which we really appreciated. Great customer service is hard to find, but James did not disappoint. We really enjoyed his recommendation of the Banana cream pie. Great way to begin the Christmas season 🎄❤ …

I'm torn between giving Berns a 3/4 or a 5 star review. My wife and I just moved to Tampa from Nyc, and we were lucky enough to go somewhat frequently to some of the best steakhouses in nyc. I hate sounding like a pretentious jerk, but Berns relative to a Keens, old homestead, or smith and wollensky would be a 3-4 star--but we're not in nyc, we're in Tampa.
The rib eye did have a dry age taste, but you could really taste the dry age in the ny strip. If we go back, I'll have the ny strip.
My wife loved the French onion soup and said the salad was delicious. She had some wine which she said was nice.
The dessert room was good, but not exactly our scene. They had a piano man, which I'm sure is fun for most people, just not us.
Next to our table a couple had driven 2 hours to eat here, and it was their 5th visit. It's clearly a good place.
Burlen Baker
Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wines. Great atmosphere. Make sure you javelin a reservation...You will not be disappointed.

Bern's Steak House is truly amazing. A dining experience I will always remember. They have so many options on steaks to the cooking temperature you prefer to sauces. Our waiter John was so helpful, knowledgeable and kind as we decided on our order. I had the filet mignon cooked to perfection, no exaggeration. Customers receive a tour of their kitchen and you gain an appreciation for their expertise in how they select ingredients and the skill of preparation that goes into a meal. Although I do not drink alcoholic drinks, I was impressed by their wine cellar of 115,000 bottles and their library system for storing and finding each bottle, from the ordinary label to the rare and very expensive. Next we went upstairs to the dessert room, a whole floor devoted to an overwhelming selection of original sweet and delicious creations. Try the Chocolate Peanut Butter Truffle featured on the Home Network, the Macadamia Nut Sundae, or the King Midas Carrot Cake. Expensive, yes; worth it and much more. Resevations required. Try calling around noon and chances are you will get a spot due to some unlucky soul having to cancel. I like fine dining, but this is a whole different level. You really need to experience something like this.
Debbie Sanacore
Berns steakhouse is more than just a meal it is the experience.. Touring the meat locker and wine cellar add to the experience.. make sure you have dessert.. it brings your dinner to the next level.. if you plan on being in Tampa make sure you make a reservation well in advance

This was perhaps, the best experience I've had with food in years. Everything about this place was unique. The staff, the decor, the layout of the building. It was absolutely incredible. The phrase "you get what you pay for" doesn't begin to describe the level of service we had. Our waiter was beyond amazing, making great wine recommendations and calls on dessert. The food was exquisite, expertly prepared by one whom can only be described as a master of their craft.. Even the cocktails were phenomenal.
I will not hesitate to come here again, and will recommend this steak house to anyone who will listen.
Kaleigh Ruppe
As always, eating at Berns was an amazing experience. Our waiter, Patrick, was not only incredibly friendly but very knowledgeable on the menu. The charcuterie board was excellent, the truffle fries were to die for, and the dessert room was amazing as well. I've never been disappointed at Berns and doubt I ever will be.
Dave Pestrak
Amazing! Not just good dining, Bern’s is a dining experience!
From the moment you walk in, you know this will be different. See my photos to understand. The menu started off a little confusing, until you realize there is a second page with cook temps & sizes for each of the styles on the previous page.
Our waiter was kind enough to ensure we wanted to make our dessert reservations when ordering our meals. Dinner included the most amazing French Onion soup, and four other pre-meal courses. The entree was cooked perfectly and was tender as possible.
After dinner, we got to tour their amazing kitchen & wine cellar. Then dessert... upstairs. Excellent selections, semi-private personal dining rooms.
Overall, the service was amazing, the food incredible, and the establishment impeccable. Don’t miss out on one of the premier dining experiences in the country.
Rachael Mann
Such a fun experience! The service is fantastic, love the French onion soup, the back-of-the-house tour & wine cellar tour, the dessert room, the piano player was a trip- very energetic and entertaining. Be sure to make a reservation, this place is busy!
Oh, & is it just me or does anyone else feel like they are in West World when they are here?

Best steak ever! (2014) This time (2022) it was just OK. Daughter ordered Medium steak, it came out M Rare to rare. Sent back. Daughter's steak, We sent it back and got it to go after everyone was done eating. My steak was room temp. Quality: (2022) The steak didn't taste like it had the quality as before. Waiter was awesome. Burns has always been a tradition in this house for major events in this house but will probably move on to another restaurant for traditions. Ambience is 10/10. I'm giving a 3 star only b/c the steak at room temp for 2 guests and one steak Medium ordered but came out MR.
Kate Miller
I first ate at Burns over 10 years ago and have dined there many times since. I love to go there for special occasions or a romantic evening out. The worst part is that it is always a difficult quest to lock down a reservation, it’s probably the next hardest thing to getting Taylor Swift concert tickets to be honest. Bern’s is so popular that it’s almost like you need to know somebody to even get on the books.
This place is the ultimate example of don’t judge a book by its cover. Not many places can get away with being a plain white building that resembles a rundown, windowless, building used for murders or cult gatherings. Somehow being the most gorgeous, eclectic, vintage styled masterpiece in all of Tampa on the inside. Love that the steak includes a French onion soup, salad (delicious dressings to choose from), side of veggies and loaded baked potato - no other steakhouse can compete). We normally order bottles of wine BUT the house is also good! In the bar, they have an amazing ambiance if you can’t get a Reso, it’s first come first serve and the steak sandwich is delish!
Must book Reso far in advance unless you have the hookup.
Must do wine cellar/kitchen tour if you’re new to Berns.
Must MUST eat in the dessert room, every time!! (Bring the sorbet sampler and Bananas foster back please!!)

The chateau briaund tips 10 oz seared rare are the best! Everything including food, desert, service and atmosphere were excellent. BERNS is one of our top 3 restaurants which includes Peter Lugers and Ocean Prime...

Interesting atmosphere. Appetizer and sides were excellent steak was average. incredible wine list. Parking is scarce.

Everything at Bern's was amazing from start to finish. The service was truly impeccable. The food was delicious! The white balsamic dressing is a must for your salad. The french onion soup...holy cow! I never order french onion soup but this particular one was out of this world. Then I had a delmonico steak that was so flavorful and prepared perfectly. The food came out timely, each course spaced out like precision. Then we got to your their huge kitchen and beyond impressive wine cellar. I highly recommend and happy I has a wonderful dinner experience at Bern's with friends.
Ottavio Lazzarato
We ate here on Thanksgiving day. I feel that the holiday diminished both the atmosphere and the service. Both were good but not at the usual excellent level.
Adrianna “Dri” Tennison
We went to the dessert room. We didn't eat dinner there, but they have an upstairs area where each table is sectioned off and you can choose your own music if you want any, the service is amazing. They have an impeccable wine list and their dessert options are AMAZING, almost impossible to choose.
bryttani113
Everything was incredible! From the unique decor, to the professional and high-end service, to the separate dessert floor with individual barrel booths, everything was fantastic. The leftover dessert was even better the next day. It's a bucket list restaurant with insane wine variety, including dessert wines, a must-do experience!

Steaks was good, but the star of the night was deserts

Very unique atmosphere. You feel like you’re inside a very antique mansion. Food was good, the wine was excellent and the chocolate with peanut butter dessert was amazing!
My reason for four stars versus five; is I’m a pescatarian (no shell fish) and there were very few fish options available on the menu. I had the red snapper and it was good. The rest of the party ordered different steak dishes, which they enjoyed.
Scott was our server and we were very pleased with his service. I had forgotten my reading glasses at home, and the lighting in the dining room was very dim (part of the charm!) and he was able to loan me a spare pair so that I could read the menu. Thank you Scott!
I truly enjoyed the complimentary tour of the kitchen and the wine cellars. A must, which you will appreciate! The dessert rooms upstairs are super unique and cozy, with a telephone on the wall so you can directly request any song you wish, to the piano man.
Thank you Bern’s for this unique experience!

The overall experience is great. Please know there is a dress code. The steaks are amazing. Service is great. Each steak comes with soup, salad, baked potato and onion rings. They have a chart on temps to order your steak. Once your seated ask tell your sever you'd like to have dessert in the dessert room.

Ultimate old school dining experience. A must do if you're able to get a reservation. Would make a trip from afar to go to Bern's.
Joseph Jurek
I'm going to start of with the whole dining experience couldn't be met because of Covid19. So no dessert room or wine cellar, which I'm told is a big experience. But judging by the size and multiple rooms for dining I can only imagine. We ordered a lot of food between my wife and I. Crab cakes and escargot to start with along with bread. We both had French onion soup which was amazing! House salad which is typical. My wife ordered the aged Delmonico steak, which I think is 100 days aged. I ordered the Châteaubriand. Both medium rare, both with loaded potato and onion fries. The steaks were cooked to standard but I just wasn't impressed with the taste. I felt it lacked taste. Yes the cut and meat might have been high quality but I just wasn't that impressed especially when you take in the price. The onion fries were pretty greasy. But that's really the only complaint I have. Would I go back.. I'm still undecided. Especially if we can't experience the full tour and the cost of a meal with wine. There's just so many other really good steak restaurants that cost less with easily equal quality. $$$$

No words can describe how great dining is at Berns. The steaks are the best and the service is exceptional. Don’t pass up the desert room!
Pravin George
Really nice experience. The steak was pretty good, the wine list is apparently the biggest in the country. They have a dessert room at the end which is awesome and the dessert was delicious. Got the bananas foster, which you can see the pictures, was a unique experience
Alejandro Rivera
Excellent experience, the service was great. The food was delicious and mouth watering. I had the Seared tuna and the New york strip. Entrees come with salad and soup, potatoes and vegetables. After my meal we did the tour of the kitchen and the wine cellar. Berns has a huge selection of wines and some that date back to the civil war.

Awesome server (Jesse). Super informative regarding the desserts and coffees, helpful with answers, and attentive to our table. Made my daughter's birthday dessert outing such a special experience. Staff was attentive and went over and above to make it an overall wonderful experience. From driving up to the valet, walking through the doors, traversing the halls, and then walking back out again, one feels a general sense of professionalism, class, and attentiveness at every point of the experience.
Also, definitely try the Bern's Cappuccino!

This place has so much to say, that’s why they are one of the best steakhouses in the U.S. very high quality selection of meats, atmosphere top notch, dessert room upstairs is incredible experience.
Jim In. Hudson
First time out since quarantine, Bern's did a great job, only three tables in the room. But also lost some of the allure. No tour of the kitchen, no tour of the wine cellar, no dessert rooms. Also felt rushed. When we had our dessert they kept checking to see if we where done. Now for the food . Had the Delmonico, it was delicious. The dessert was also delicious. Looking fwd to going back after the pandemic is over.

My review is not different to thousands before who have given this place 5 stars. If you are on a date, celebrating something or just want to have a good meal, you cannot go wrong with Bern’s. As a first timer the food, service, the kitchen tour, the wine cellar 😍 and the best of all the dessert room. A bit of advice make sure you have a reservation.
Eric Gantwerk
What an experience! Sat at the bar because reservations are impossible to get. Had a great time - great selection of spirits and well educated bartenders. You get full dinner menu at the bar and they take great care of you. Whatever you do, save room for dessert. The dessert rooms and the kitchen/wine cellar tour are well worth it. Business dinner for two, all told it ran around $350, but that was with several apps, dinner, drinks and desserts, so when you figure in the setting it wasn't too pricey.
Christine Antoine
Ok so my 1st experience here, I was underwhelmed and disappointed. I was confused on why everyone thought this place was 5 star. We were in a big group of people and some were intoxicated. Anyways, I realize they messed up the vibe. This restaurant is truly a 5 star steakhouse, even if it didn't have the dessert room. My steak was cooked to perfection. I had THE BEST onion soup I've ever had. I don't even typically like onion soup! I literally loved everything we ate. We got the dessert sampler because we couldn't pick one. We loved all of it! We truly enjoyed our Anniversary dinner.
Jimmy Heim
You’ll know why it’s 5 stars when you go. Phenomenal food and atmosphere. Kevin was great, we really enjoyed the evening. Will be back!

I usually don’t like upscale restaurants. I usually feel like the waitstaff is talkng down to me, and everything is overpriced. I was pleasantly surprised to have a great experience at Bern’s. My wife and I were treated like valued patrons throughout the entire experience. Tyler , our waiter was very pleasant and professional. I enjoyed my Bourbon Manhattan, and my Filet Mignon, which was done exactly as I ordered it, and the side dishes.
The tour of the kitchen, and wine cellar were interesting. The dessert room, and coffee were spectacular. Very relaxing. I’m pretty sure this is the first time I spent $250 on dinner for my wife, and I and felt that it was worth every penny. I wouldn’t hesitate to come here the next time I’m in Tampa.
Brandy Blackwelder
Fantastic experience with Roman as our server. Fantastic tour of the kitchen and wine cellar. Fun atmosphere with a mixture of classy and gothic and art decor styles. Will definitely go back again. Oh and the separate dessert room was amazing.
Ali Fallah
I went here with my coworkers for my birthday celebration and most of my coworkers are from New Jersey and they were extremely impressed with the settings, atmosphere, service, cleanliness, quality of food and the prices. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu quite literally. Definitely take the tour of the kitchen and go for the dessert room as well.
Shahedul Islam
This is probably one of the best steak house in US , surely the best in Tampa and its an understatement. The whole experience ; starting from being there to the appetizers to main course to dessert was outstanding. I wont lie, i just finished every bit of food left on the plates. I was full to the brim. The steak was perfectly cooked , the appetizers were just appetizing , vegetables were fresh and crisp, the desserts were the perfect finish .The server knew exactly how to serve and let the guests enjoy with necessary guidance through the menu . I'm new to the entire western idea of steak house or even wine cellar tour thing, so if I get it anyone else will get it, so ask questions. DO ask for the tour to the kitchen as well. For the weekends reserve the week before, and show up on time( its open from 5.00 pm to 10/11.00 pmyes, only for 5/ 6 hours). I think there is like a dress code. Do check their web page for details. For the price...i would say you can try a full course meal here with around a hundred dollars........ if you are picky ,sky is the limit. I was just there to try out the experience ....loved every bit of it.....hope you do too..

Everything thing was amazing!!! Highly recommend the filet mignon with truffle butter. The desert room was beautiful and smelled of chocolate as soon as I stepped off the elevator....can you save heaven!!!!

One of a kind place! It is no wonder it is rated as one of the top 5 places in North America and top 25 places in the world. Superior service, the servers take their jobs very seriously and the restaurants tenured staff show for it. Our server Vince (in Bern’s) was very exceptional and had been there for almost 15years, while still being the most junior of all the servers who were working in our particular dinning room area, by 10 years. When we went up to Harry Waugh’s Dessert room we were complimented with the outstanding service from Vance (I could be getting these two gents mixed up, apologies). His recommendations for both dessert and liquors were fantastic! We will be back for sure!
Matthew Blackburn
Overall we were underwhelmed. Perhaps it was because we had just spent a week in NYC getting top knotch service/food and were spoiled while there.
The service was okay and the server was friendly enough, however it didn't wow me as I was expecting. Some servers placed napkins in patrons laps, while ours did not (no biggie but I noticed). A fork was dropped at another table and was never picked up (no biggie but caught my eye). Some servers appeared much better than others.
The food service was quite slow, and course plates were left for long periods of time before being cleared.
My mashed potatoes were cool, and my chopped steak was simply warm (I believe it sat too long before being brought out). There chopped steak flavor was fine and the mushrooms/sauce were good. I was brought extra mashed potatoes that were much better temperature wise. The green beans were good and I'm usually not a green bean fan, and the salad was okay too. My wife's 14 oz Delmonico really lacked flavor and was quite bland. Her baked potato was good.
The kitchen tour was cool to see, but hearing the employees squable and bicker was not.
The wine cellar was really neat even though we don't drink wine!
The desert room was cool because we got to sit in the room with the pianist. He was great and that was the best part of the night to be honest. The desserts were okay, and the server there (Brianna) was good.
For the price of one meal here I could eat at other chain restaurants many times over for an equally good or better steak and service experience.

Bern's steakhouse is a great restaurant for a special occasion and/or if you'd really like to impress someone! Restaurant offers valet parking and upon entering setting is softly lit and elegant. Menu lists and explains EVERY cut of meat. If you still have questions your waiter is very well versed w all that goes on here. Sommelier will give expert opinion on wines by the glass or bottle.
You may take a tour through their kitchen and meet the chef. You can also tour the extensive wine cellar which extends under the street. They have wines for every palate. Some of the wines are hundreds of years old as well as rich in history. After a delicious meal you will then be escorted upstairs for your very own personal booth for desert and after dinner drink where you may listen to your very own little antique juke box of sorts. I highly recommend this restaurant as it has fabulous food and drink, as well as, a whole dining experience! FABULOUS! Not our first time and we definitely look forward to coming back, again and again!
Jay
The valets were prompt and courteous, our waiter was attentive and helpful. The food was incredible, as always. Our waiter in the Dessert Room was just as good as our first one, and the food was equally amazing. Another grand experience at Bern's!
Ron Wong
Wow, this place is fantastic. It's up there with Morton's and Cap Grill. Nice ambiance, great service and the food was A+. I had the Delmonico medium and was one of the best steaks I've had. The tours of the kitchen and wine cellar were cool as well. The second level for dessert were fantastic. We had the pineapple cake. Great experience and fantastic food!
Natalie Abkarian
This place is a MUST visit. Absolutely need reservations in advance. Although, COVID made the experience a bit different from our prior visits, we still we had a great time! The atmosphere is so interesting and unique, servers are so kind and knowledgeable, of course the food is the best ALWAYS. So put on a nice outfit and bring your camera for a beautiful evening!

This year was our 2nd time at Bern’s for our anniversary. Best Japanese Wagyu I’ve ever had! Nice atmosphere, outstanding service. See you again soon!

Even with a limited menu, no after dinner restaurant tour and the dessert floor under renovations Berns never disappoints.
Delicious steaks, appetizers, onion soup and course the amazing desserts. Can't wait for my next visit.

Sure this place may be a bit pricey where you spend $60-$80 per person for drink, dinner, and dessert. But you get a load of decent sides with your entree and the taste and quality of the food beats similarly priced steakhouses like Ruth Chris or Fleming's. The service is always top notch. You will get knowledgeable info and recommendations on steak, or anything on the menu, but steak for sure! I've been here probably half a dozen times and every time the taste and service was excellent. The tour of the kitchen and largest privately owned wine collection in the world was impressive (wine cellar area can be kind of cold!)
I've tried about 3 different steaks; some more rare than I usually get because of how the aging process leaves them extra tender, but not bloody. All were great. Chateaubriand has been my favorite.
Dessert room is upstairs (or elevator!) And has a slightly different look and feel. More semi private than the main dining rooms. There are shadowed glass fold outs separating different parties to help keep the noise levels down.
Overall, the only downsides some may find are:
*Larger parties in dining rooms can increase noise during busy times
*Underdressing may get you seated in the lounge area. Formal Wear or at least business casual, but double check their dress code!
*Valet is $5 charge, only option
*Get a reservation ASAP several days or more in advance.
Still hardly a complaint to warrant removing stars!

Full house tonight. Every table full.. Very nice DelMonico was had. Liked the cheese course. Delightful club soda! Pretty good service. No cellar tour... Very nice dessert, barrel room area. A nice treat.

We love this place so much! From the ambience, the customer service, the food selection, the wine...amazing! Our waiter, James, was so great! My fiance isn't a fan of wine, but James brought him a glass of wine simply based on his beer selection, and my fiance loved it! The steak is always to die for! I am just so impressed with this place every time we go. Do the tour of the kitchen and wine cellar, it's quite impressive! We will always visit Bern's when we are in the Tampa area!

It has been months since I enjoyed my time at Bern's and I still think about it daily. Just this morning my roommate had a surgery and while he was loopy his ma and the nurse were talking about Florida, and in his ketamine fueled daze, he muttered a single word. Bern's. The experience was an intense learning experience of one's self in a fashion similar to Stand by Me, and in this experience, I would like to think of myself as Wil Wheaton, whereas my roommate is more of a River Phoenix.
Claudia Castro
My second time here with my husband. Loved it again 😊. Service is amazing as well as the food. Karl J. was our waiter and he did such a an outstanding job walking us through the menu and gave us recommendations. …
Cyndi Braski
It didn't stand up to the hype. The French Onion soup was better than our entree. They were out of the ceviche appetizer that I ordered. The service was great. The wine cellar tour was the coolest part of our visit. The dessert room waa cute but the desserts ordered didn't knock my socks off. I expected to be dazzled by the food, I wasn't.
Royal Mangalitsa
The most beautiful Restaurant in Tampa..... sadly I have only these pictures. The food is amazing and when you have the chance take the tour through the kitchen and wine cellar!!!
When you order a dinner leave some space for the famous desert, they are extraordinary, I promise!!

After 2 years of living in Tampa, I finally had the pleasure to dine at the famous Bern's. For a fine dining restaurant I was a little taken back by a few things, first and foremost there should be someone opening the door to let guests in and greeting them upon entry, not crowded around a desk 2. The host who walked us to the table did not pull my chair out, this was a big surprise that this did not occur as I would consider this a part of fine dining training and lastly the linens were white, black linens should be provided especially for anyone wearing dark pants to avoid additional white lint on our clothing. The server approached our table quickly, he was very honest about the amount of food we would be recieving which was nice. He wasn't very personable, anytime I said thank you there was no response from him. After 2 years of training to be a server here it would be nice for a little more personality to shine through but he was professional and efficient. My boyfriend and I ordered the 18oz Ribeye for 2 with blue cheese. The only aspect of the steak experience that could have been better is if the blue cheese topping would have been cooked on top of the steak, but it came on the side which takes away the purpose in ordering a "topping" for the steak. The steak was cooked to a perfect Medium Rare, the French onion soup was amazing with the complimentary toasts, the house salad with the homemade blue cheese dressing was amazing as well. It was a nice surprise that the soup, salad, and potato were included with the steak. I knew the bill came with a 12% service charge because I read ahead of time on the website and it says it very clear in the check presenter. The kitchen and wine cellar tour were a nice addition, the young man who took us on the wine tour was very knowledgeable. After we left the iwne cellar, we went upstairs to the desert room, I asked where the restroom was and they said they would show me after they sat us, I had to get stern because I had to use the restroom, why should I have to be told to wait until I was seated!? Once in the dessert room we met Jordyn, she was very personable, quite a difference from our server downstairs. We ordered the macadamia nut sundae and the peanut butter Truffle. Both were of course delicious. I was pleased with the overall experience and look forward to my next dining experience at Bern's.

An iconic location that offers great food and a unique and rewarding experience. I first went to Berns 20 years ago. It was such a memorable experience that I had to go recently when a friend and I visited Tampa. It was as awesome this time as it was the first time.
This is a premier 5 star steakhouse. I am not a rich man, so my steak experiences are usually at Outback or Texas Roadhouse. These are dependable locations that are affordable. Berns is far superior to them for food quality. I had a 10oz delmonico steak for $40. My friend had an 8oz filet for $38. Each meal comes with french onion soup, salad, onion strings, baked potato, and a vegetable. There is a very detailed and varied chart of available cuts and sizes, so you can pay upwards of $250 for a steak. But who can eat a 60oz delmonico?
The steak was perfectly done, and was remarkably juicy. Service is spectacular. Our waiter had been there over 20 years. And this is where to me Berns really stands out. It is a culture, a way of life for anyone wanting a career in food service. There is an apprenticeship, a hierarchy of progression throughout the organization. The color of the tie and the type of clothing depicts a person's level of seniority. Employees seem to be here because they love it, not because they are looking for a temporary job.
The place is elegant and requires a dress code. Basically business casual. But there is a bar and lounge area where you can wear jeans and sneakers and still be served from the full menu.
Now lets get to the amazing stuff. You must do the tour of the kitchen and the wine cellar. They have the largest private collection of wine in the world. Over 100,000 bottles at the restaurant location, 500,000 total. There is a $40,000 bottle available if you are so inclined. The tour is free, is fun, and very informative. If you want to hold a live lobster you just have to ask.
For dessert you go upstairs and get a cozy semiprivate table. There is a separate menu here that offers hundreds of dessert wine pairings. Live entertainment is offered by the inhouse pianist.
Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. Tables book fast. We had a party of 3 on a Monday, and our choices were 5pm of 9pm. I booked the night before though. The bar and lounge area is first come first serve. Make it a point to interact with the staff and to truly take in the entire experience. The delicious meal and dessert is only a portion of what makes the Berns experience a once in a lifetime dining experience. Well, for me it was twice. And I will definitely go there any time I visit Tampa in the future.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that they also have a farm at which the grow many of the fresh ingredients used there. Be sure to ask about it during your tour. Enjoy!
George Zamora
What a fantastic meal! Cannot say enough about the quality of wine and steak. The service is fantastic. From start to finish Matt took absolute care of everything. The wonderful environment to the knowledgeable team made this a dinner to remember. Parking is tricky. Valet parking is available but if you are not valeting plan ahead. Food 8/10, service- 9/10, experience 8/10, parking 5/10
Enan Del Rio
The steak was cooked to perfection. Juicy tasty morsel in every bite. I liked the French onion soup and loved the onion rings. Although I didn't drink Bern's claims to have the largest collection of wines by a single holder. They have the wine cellar below the restaurant which they will take you on a tour to see and then they have a whole other warehouse which is dedicated for nothing, but wine. They have wines going back to the 1800's.
Shea-Lynn Tinsley
This was absolutely the best dining experience I've ever had!! We shared a 40 oz chateaubriand which was out of this world. It's incredible they give tours of the kitchen and wine cellar, quite a treat. The dessert room was definitely my favorite part, very quiet & romantic after such an illustrious dinner. A great place to bring anyone for a celebratory dinner.
Dino Kilani
Ridiculously amazing. It's not just the food. It's an experience you must try at least once so you can raise your standard for all other steakhouses. I'm from Orlando and our go to spot is always Christner's steak house. I never thought I'd say this but this place is better. Make sure to ask your server for a tour of the kitchen and a spot in the upstairs dessert room.
Ronald Simon
No kitchen tour. No wine celler tour.
Food was just OK. Without those extras.....Capital Grill is much better.
None Ya BIZ
Been there a few times , the service is above and beyond, the food is absolutely delicious, dessert room is perfect, one of the best in the USA.
Lyric Hill
An experience like no other.
This place gives you a taste of what Tampa has to offer. Great food, serenading music, happy and passionate staff, and luxury of course. It was my 21st birthday and we went straight up to the dessert room (without a wait...that's unheard of). There was an amazing pianist who played any song we requested. The desserts and the drinks were out of this world. They offered us a tour of the restaurant and the wine cellar which blew my mind.
The rich history of this restaurant alone is enough to make someone become a regular.
Nelson Colon
From a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give this place a 20. I ordered the Porterhouse steaks, which were the best steaks that I had. The staff provides tours of their kitchen and wine cellar. Ordered the chocolate and peanut butter truffle for dessert, which was very rich in flavor. This restaurant has a dress code.
Jonathan Mitchell
The best steakhouse in America! Veggies are grown in their farm a few miles away. Beef is aged 5-8 weeks and trimmed to perfection. Order it rare and thank me later. The dessert room (you read that correctly) is next level and even has gluten-free options. Oh, and they roast their own coffee. I could go on-and-on. Just go and experience it.
Julia Apostol
Everybody I’ve talked to raves about this place, and needless to say, it didn’t disappoint! The atmosphere, servers, and food were all great and wonderful! Definitely do not pass up the opportunity to go to the dessert room. We had a lovely time, and I’m looking forward to coming back again soon.
Harvey Goldberg
I not sure if this post will be very popular but I was disappointed in the food at Bern's. I thought that although it was good food it certainly wasn't great nor would I recommend it. The portions of everything were small and overpriced. In my opinion it just doesn't compare to a Ruth's Chris or Capital Grill which would cost the same.
Tim Whitley
Bern’s Steakhouse is said to be the best steakhouse east of the Mississippi and I wholeheartedly agree. It is the best not only because their steaks are of the highest quality and expertly prepared, but also because the service and experience are excellent. I personally recommend the melt in your mouth filet. If it’s your first time, be sure to take the tour of the kitchen and expansive wine cellar. The dessert room has several can’t miss selections as well. As for cons, you’ll want to take into account the 12% mandatory service surcharge added to your bill when you add the tip.
Heather Howes
Incredible experience! Adam M was our server in the dining room and Amy B was our server in the dessert room. Both did a great job!
MG MGOUR2FUBAR
Great place loved it,our server Jenifer and was wonderful. Absolutely the best hospitality ever! She was delightful and reccomend the best ever for main entrees. The dessert floor was scrumptious, and beautifully displayed for us! We definitely be going back🥰❤ …
Jeremy Murphy
Some of the food was good and some was great. It gets 5 stars for cleanliness, food and appeal. The place has a great history and is simply impressive, especially the wine & dessert rooms.
As other posters have noted, the main wait staff is humorless and there is definitely a lack of empathy. Recommended for couples only perhaps only occasionally.
Sunny Regina
Our third visit, a must when in Tampa. Always exceeds expectations. Attentive service throughout the restaurant. Delicious meal... soup, salad and sides included so you can't beat the price. It's fun to move to the dessert room for a change of ambience.
Anthony Fares
We heard of this place many times, that it was a renowned steak house. It made many of the “Top steakhouse” lists in the US. This was definitely an experience! Not your average restaurant visit. It felt very themed, and the passion floated in the air is one way to put it. This place takes time! Don’t come in here thinking you’ll just order your steak, eat it, and leave. Which is fine depending on what your looking for. Waitress was very helpful and informative. If your looking for a wine & dine extravaganza, this is the spot! The reason why I’m not giving it a 5 star; I think they should do away with the tour... it was awkward, rushed, and just super bizarre. I didn’t really care to be in the middle of a very kitchen, or a stuffy wine cellar. Apart from that I had a great experience! Ps, the onion soup is among the BEST, I’ve ever had.
Daniel Lippelman
It's good, but over hyped. This place is known to be the best of the best steak house in all of Florida and a top in the US. It's great, but for the price, I'd rather go to Ocean Prime, Eddy V's, or Donatello's. Their steaks, wine, cocktails, and desserts are pretty good, but I'm not blown away. The atmosphere definitely needs to be updated, but the low lights and dark carpets/furniture are supposedly more romantic. I'd suggest you go to the bar area for food/drinks/desserts, because it's cheaper, quicker, and the same service. Also ask your waiter about doing the tour of the entire restaurant.
Jim Mosier
Amazing experience, start to finish. Seated quickly with very little wait, excellent service throughout the meal. Steak came out initially over cooked for me, but everyone else in the party was fine. They corrected it quickly and graciously. Be sure to ask for the kitchen and wine cellar tour. I have never seen anything like it. Finally, we ended our night in the desert room, where everything we ordered was just as delicious as it sounded. And the service was awesome up there as well. Definitely will return.
Johnny Torres
PRICEY BUT WORTH IT.....come hungry and have high expectations because they will be MET. High end upscale steakhouse that has the BEST GRILLED OCTUPUS I've eaten to date. Their steaks are dry aged and cut and cooked to order....truly amazing RESTAURANT and their DESSERT ROOM on the second floor that is solely dedicated to dessert is most impressive.
Lawrence Osefoh
Amazing staff, gracious serving sizes, lots of history, enjoyable tour of the facilities. Potential for multiple visits, but the steak is what you want. Bring a party and have multiple selections as it highlights the quality of Bern's Steak House.
J.E. Porter
Devore was our waiter. Andre was our tour guide of the kitchen area. Danny was our tour guide of the wine cellar. Tyree was our dessert room waiter. The experience here was phenomenal. Those guys are extremely knowledgeable and made our experience at Bern's fantastic.
Amanda Reid
You have to experience Bern's at least once in your lifetime. Excellent steaks and all the sides are great as well. Best onion rings I've ever had. Almost asked the server to leave them off as they come with the steak orders. So glad I didn't. Very thin rings, lightly breaded and nicely seasoned. Dessert room is a must. The carrot cake with the macadamia nut ice cream was heavenly. An expensive meal, but a wonderful experience. Great for special occasions.
Hanine Abdel Rahman
A one of a kind experience, different rooms have different themes and the menu has what pleases everyone, once you are done with food take a tour in the kitchen and wine cellar and listen to the stories told, end your meal on a sweet note upstairs with dessert area
Binny Nguyen
Wonderful experience! Food was delicious, service was excellence and I ate too much food! Dessert room is a must.

Bern's is a treat. Reservations are a must and made well in advance. I appreciate the valet service, they're always quick and efficient. The waiting area can get pretty busy and although I enjoy the ambiance and decor, I wish there were more seating. The waiters are always attentive and courteous. The oysters here are delicious and you definitely can not just order half a dozen, you'll be made to crave more. The steak this time was a little bland but once added with the crispy onions and twice baked potato, it was good. But by itself, it would have been too bland. The dessert room is of course a must and the regular coffee with steamed milk is so yummy at the end of the evening. This was my first time back after the pandemic and I think the menu may have gotten smaller and I may have missed my favorite pistachio ice cream on the menu. But the creme brule did not disappoint. So delicious. We usually don't have any issues with noise or other guests but this time there were some extra happy guests who were a bit loud in the dessert room but luckily each table has their own music and volume level and that helped silence some of the loudness from across the way. Other than that, Bern's is a must visit.
Brenda Stone
Truly a special experience! Intimate dining rooms and dessert barrel rooms with top notch service. A wine list (book) like we've never seen and delicious food. My husband and I both ordered steak and to our surprise, soup, salad, sides were all included in the price. In most high end steak restaurants everything past the meat is extra, overpriced with too large of portions for two. In our opinion their steak dinners were very reasonably priced.
Mukesh Bhakta
We went for dessert only. Amazing selection of every single liquor you can think of. Atmosphere superb and staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. Reasonable priced desserts quality was above average. Definitely a must in Tampa!!

Absolutely delicious!!! Everything I had tasted great. The quality of food is incredible especially for where it is priced. You definitely won't get a better steak at a better price anywhere. The ambience is wonderful as well.
Be sure to check out the dessert room and get a tour of the wine cellar. It's a must.
Jeff Coleman
Simply amazing! This place was more than good! After my wife and I had the best steak ever we ate a delicious chocolate cake dessert in the Dessert Room and we left feeling full of life with happy bellies! It was such a romantic spot for our anniversary. We have been going here for years every year and they never disappoint!

Bern's Steak House is a dining experience. A must for anyone looking for great steaks and quality service! We shall return.
Jeff Cox
The food was absolutely Fantastic!
After Dinner I went upstairs to the Desert Room!
You can go just to the desert room if you wish.
Amy Berry
Outstanding food and service. Trisha was amazing! Although difficult to obtain a reservation, keep trying it is worth it!
Kate Williams
Excellent experience from the minute you sit down until you leave. The food is fantastic made exactly as you order. Great choices. All servers are experts in wine so they can lead you to a great choice if needed. Don't forget the dessert room. Amazing selection of spirits and desserts so save some room.

Bern's food is as delicious as you would expect, but more important is the experience you'll have. Ashley was our server recently and she delivered the Bern's experience like no other. Our group of six enjoyed our usual selections along with a couple of new menu items suggested by Ashley. The crab cake and bacon appetizers were the best we've ever had and our steaks were perfectly prepared as usual. We enjoy coming here every couple of months with our group of friends and always create some great memories.

We drove the two hours to Tampa to meet friends for dinner at Bern's. The food was delicious. The service was superior. Everyone was focused on giving us a great dining experience. Most of us ordered a meal which included sides. Wow it was a lot of food. Next time I will order the smaller size Delmonico steak. Steak's were cooked to perfection. The upstairs dessert floor is awesome. (The reason to order the smaller steak so you have room for dessert). Great selection of adult beverages. The valet parking was reasonable ($8) and fast/friendly. Would recommend Bern's anytime.....
Lisa Crisafulli
We went last night to celebrate our engagement. The food was great but the service was perfection. Karim was our waiter and he was extremely knowledgeable. He helped us chose a wine that suited both of our pallets. I highly recommend and if you want amazing service ask for Karim!
James Lee
Had the best time with my extended family. The Steak was cooked wuth perfection. Great place all around. They have the worlds largest privite wine celler. A seperate desert room. Great place for mothers day. Exmas, or any special time. Bring your fat wallet. Reservations only

We went for my husbands birthday who love steak. The place inside is a very nice environment. Waiter is very knowledgeable! However the food did not live up to the hype and reputation. I don’t eat steak my husband does so we go to all the famous steak houses and unfortunately this one was at the bottom of the list. I had the chicken gert it was good but my food was cold I also love lobster bisque so eat it everywhere I go and this one was not good at all. The onion soup however was and my husband was not impressed with the steak. We won’t go back but I do recommend people try it for yourself at least once. Maybe you will like it.
Kim Widing
Three words: macadamia nut sundae. You will not be sorry.
Of course, the food is amazing too but that sundae tho 🤤
Crystal Davis
The scenery, the food and the service *chefs kiss*. I ordered a strip steak and it came with soup, salad (omg when I say this is the freshest salad I have ever had in my life it’s like they had a mini garden and picked everything fresh before serving it and I don’t like cucumbers but when I ate one it was so fresh it was delicious.) a side and onion rings for $44 if you ask me that is well worth it. My sister ordered Mac and cheese and it was also delicious my steak was cooked perfect. I also had this cocktail I think was something sour can’t really remember the name but that was also delicious it was the perfect drink for my meal. We went pretty late so the only thing we didn’t get to experience is the dessert room because we were all stuffed and pretty tired . I would definitely come here again and make sure I get to experience the dessert room next time 10/10 definitely recommend.

Steaks was good, but the star of the night was deserts, must have when you're here.

Incredible experience. This was my third visit, but my first time sitting at the bar. I came in by myself right at 5pm and had no problem finding a seat. Doug, my bartender, was awesome. Very personable and relatable and his food and drink recommendations were spot-on. I had the raw oysters as an appetizer - I preferred the east coast oysters over the west coast, but they were both very good. The garnishes and sauces were all very fresh and really innovative (green Tabasco granita and horseradish sorbet... What? Amazing.) On Doug's recommendation I went with a Delmonico steak, cooked just past rare. It had a nice outer crust but was red in the middle. Perfection. I've eaten steaks everywhere in the world (ok, I haven't visited South America yet) and nobody does it better than Bern's. Hands-down the best steak you can buy in this country. Not only that, but the value can't be overstated. Most steakhouses at this level will charge a-la-carte for sides... Bern's gives you two veggies, fried onions, a loaded baked potato, and a nice salad (loaded with fresh vegetables) all included with the steak. Finally, I ordered a Sazerac cocktail for an after-dinner drink and it was delicious. If you have the time, take the tour and go to the dessert room. I didn't do it this time but it's always a great experience.
June Abrams
The service was excellent and over the top. However, the food didn't live up to the hype. I have had better and expected better for the prices. We had dinner and the dessert room fares. Definitely not a second visit. The stars are for the service and the servers, they were amazing.
Sandra Wiles
OH MY GOSH! A true dining experience! A MUST if you love fine steak & seafood!!! Do the Dessert Room!!! Ours was an actual wine barrel brought over by boat & train!♡♡♡ My husband's filet mignon melted like butter in your mouth! My Delmonico was sooo flavorful!!! My favorite was the scallops and corn with sunchoke puree appetizer! To die for!!!😍 We are definitely going back. I can't believe we haven't gone sooner! PURE EXCELLENCE!!! (Adam in the Burgundy Room was a superior server!)
Laurie Barker
Absolutely a wonderful experience! We did not know there was a dress code, yet your staff was extremely hospitable. The wine list is impressive. Our server was knowledgeable and could not have help picked a better meal choice. The dessert room was the cherry on top. We will return.
Kristine Dowhan
Mark your calendars three months in advance to make your reservation. The service is always phenomenal. They have decent non-steak options, and are very diligent if you let them know any food allergies. Fabulous wine collection, and fabulous dessert room.
Kristin T
Bucket list unforgettable experience! Superb service, outstanding steaks and the most impressive wine list in the US. Dessert room is a must!
ILkania Fernandes
We spent $400 only to be treated as second class citizens! There’s nothing worse than to go to a fine dining restaurant and watch everyone around you receive excellent customer service except your table. We were not greeted, walked through the menu, given options for meals, asked if we were interested in a dessert reservation or even told our waiter’s name without having to prompt or ask for the information directly. The food was quality certainly lived up to its high rating for being one of the best Tampa steakhouses but the way we were treated or rather ignored, especially after watching how other patrons were attended to around us, made the entire experience subpar. We did inform management of our dining experience once we began our dessert portion of the evening but it left me to wonder if it was the color of my skin that attributed to this kind of service. I certainly hope that Bern’s Steakhouse is an inclusive environment and what we experienced last night was an isolated incident.
Deborah Santagata
This was a true dining experience, from the appetizers to the dessert room upstairs. The service was excellent, I would highly recommend this to all.
Phil Owens
Service has seemed to have taken a hit since before COVID. Food is great but service is not top notch. And for a restaurant like this it seems sub par. There are other Steakhouses nipping at their tails and service is much better. This causes the whole experience to be less than the price of admission. Sorry but I have received and expect better from Bern's.
asianpinay zreh
Excellent place to eat ,elegant and professional server, food so good and steak so good..dessert heck yea yummyyy.
Chris Chu
Spectacular steak house with lots of tradition and pride. This is what make America great! This is what defines Tampa ! The cellar is unbelievable treasure. Perfect place for special date night. I went with ribeye with fat uncut and it's so flavorful I chopped them all into my body...when I sat in desert room ten min later my mouse is savoring the steak flavor ! Unforgettable!
Chelsea Carrington
Amazing experience with amazing staff. Food was top notch. A must go to in your lifetime. Highly recommended for celebrations.
manny alvarez-jacinto
Spectacular experience, Superb quality. John was our waiter and he is a world of knowledge about wine, the Restaurant history and he explained and recommended excellent choices. He arranged our second magnificent experience at the dessert room which hit the ball out of the park. I recommend this restaurant for any occasion without hesitance. We are absolutely coming back there is a lot to experience in this place. Just come, sit back to have the experience of Your life.
Solo Fam2019
Had a great first time at Bern’s! Our waiter Grant was busy but he was very attentive and we appreciated that a lot. The steaks were wonderful , perfectly cooked. After dinner we went up the dessert room and that was delicious as well!! I ordered the macadamia nut sundae and it was wayyyy too much for one person, I threw away more than half of it ;(
Miguel Pastrana
Great experience, we just felt a little bit of pressure to speed off the order from the waiter and then we had to wait 15min between the salads and the steak
Gherrel
Awesome experience from the main dining to the kitchen and wine cellar tour. Dessert room was wonderful. Great wine. Steak was OK, only reason this place doesnt get 5 stars. The best part of my main course was the lobster bisque, OMG!
Courtney G.
Incredible experience! From the outside, this place doesn't appear to be that big inside - but it is! This steakhouse is really cool. All the dining rooms have a theme (for example, the burgundy room). The menu is expansive and you truly custom the way you want your steak to be made, never seen anything like it. We ordered the Filet Mignon, Delmonico, French Onion Soup Au Gratin, and the White Truffle Mac N Cheese - oh glory it was good! (Save room for dessert if you can)
We also got the special tour of the restaurant including the kitchen and wine cooler/storage in the back. I think they have somewhere around 300-500 wines back there, it's incredible. We were told that in order to be a server here, you must work in the kitchen for 2 years! My favorite part about Bern's is the dessert room upstairs. Dessert is delicious and you get to choose what music you want to hear at your table. We had a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream - yum. The whole experience somewhat reminded me of a speakeasy.
It's one of a kind and a place I suggest everyone try at least once. Worth traveling for outside of Tampa Bay as well. Highly recommend!
Nathaniel Prunetree
We finally were able to get in to dine. We sought to get here for some six years now, really in earnest the past three years. That is when we discovered the wait time to get a reservation. Reading the dress code requirements and even the rep that called to confirm the reservation offered to walk us through the dress code. I saw folks in jeans and sneakers and sweatpants to my dismay. I also saw some well attired guests as well. I plan to try and get back to see if the experience will be better the second time around but who knows when that will be. Not what I expected.
Judy Spinnenweber
Came to Bern’s for the first in June of this year (2022) to celebrate my daughter’s birthday!
She lives in St Pete and had been here once before but wanted me to enjoy the experience, which it was!! Food was amazing, staff so friendly and informative and loved the dessert rooms! Fortunate to be seated in the piano room and enjoyed it immensely!
I shall certainly return on my next trip to Florida!!! Loved it all!

Bern’s has been our family go-to for special dinners for decades. We recently dined there and were disappointed. One of our party ordered escargot which arrived slathered in sauce that was cooler than room temperature. A second attempt to get the temperature corrected fell short of satisfactory. The steak was of high quality and good temperature. The baked potato was cooler than room temperature. Really disappointed and in fact decided to skip the dessert room. Not sure if we will return based on this experience.
Sarah Powell
Our experience was grand! Some of the most delicious steak and french onion soup I have tasted. The drinks were delicious as well. Regrettably, I don't recall our waiters name but he was very prompt, professional, and courteous the entire time. The dessert room also lived up to its reputation. I loved how everyone had their own "pod" with their own music.. Our waiter here, Nicholas (sp?), was one of the most enjoyable waiters I have ever had and he brought a smile to our face each time he came to the table! Great experience all around!
Alecia Chaplin
Overall great experience. The food was wonderful, service was a little lack luster. It was tough to get a water refill and a side of butter that never came. It seems with our particular server there was a grand greeting and then the service fizzled off. We really enjoyed the dessert room, our service was outstanding during this experience and the pianist was truly amazing. We left happy and full, just expected full service during our main meal. I’m sure we will be back
TracieAnn Thompson
The steak was not seasoned well, I've had better steaks from Longhorn Steakhouse. The food was not worth the price. The crabcakes were good. The chocolate cake was dry. Overall I was not impressed with the food or the atmosphere.
Melissa Colon
This place was exquisite..10 stars for me .All delicious and the service phenomenal. Will definitely come back.
Becky Wells
We had a private room for our dinner party. They could not been more accommodating. Service was excellent. Duck and steaks exceeded our expectations. Thank you Bern's for making our evening special.
Sandra Lee
Where should I start. Dress code is a joke. We went on a Friday night 845 reservations. Lots of men wearing very casual shirts.(tshirts) The 4 of us were seated by the waiter station
So we had dirty dishes behind us all night. So classy. My mother in law has a scooter and this place was not scooter friendly. The restaurant knew ahead of time about the situation yet they sat us in the smallest room. The food was good but I can spend my money someplace else. Overrated for sure.
Halie E
My husband and I went here after having to reschedule our original reservations. We ended up having Bobby as our waiter and he was fenominal. It was my first experience at this restaurant and it was awesome. We have already made new reservations for a couple months from now and have requested Bobby as our waiter again. We are looking forward to it!

If I only had one meal left on earth, I’d choose to eat at Bern’s. This restaurant is steak heaven on earth. The food and service are exceptional, and the prices are incredibly fair for the quality of your entire dining experience.
My husband and I regularly make the pilgrimage to Tampa from South Florida just for Bern’s. We’re guilty of using every possible holiday as an excuse to justify visiting Bern’s.
The food is truly second I none, and the service is delightful as well. We usually stick with steaks on the rare side, and our waiter is quick to recommend the perfect cut for our desired temperature. The sides are delightful, and the dessert room is my happy place. The pianist always obliges our bizarre song requests.
We’re always wonderfully overwhelmed with incredible flavors and an experience unlike any other.

All the build up and hype I've heard about this place. Every thing was absolutely perfect. I can't even get to specifics but if you can, go!
Edited 5.16.2021: second time was as perfect as the first! More photos added.

Let me start by saying that Bern's is my favorite restaurant. It takes a lot for me to mutter anything other than "it was okay," but Bern's is an exception. I always look forward to a meal at Bern's.
With all that said, I've noticed a lot of change since Covid. I'm not a guy who leaves reviews unless service is amazing. In the case of Bern's, I want to leave feedback in the hopes that it will be seen and considered. I've been back to Bern's about four times each year since the restaurant re-opened following the pandemic.
The first thing I noticed was that the dress code was no longer enforced. Before, you couldn't get in the door without a sports coat. Now, people are wearing ripped jeans and t-shirts; flannels and flimsy low-cut tank tops. Washing my hands in the men's room, a guy asked me a question, thinking I worked there simply because I was dressed in a suit.
I couldn't care less what people wear, but when I'm paying a few hundred dollars each time I come here, I want to feel like I'm in a place that matches the bill at the end of the night. To the managers at Bern's, please enforce the dress code that is clearly stated on your website. You guys are a famous steak house known for its class and setting. Let the people wearing t-shirts and jeans go to Charley's to eat and watch the game. I've read reviews from people traveling from across the state (and beyond) - Live up to their expectations both in food and environment.
Speaking of food, I typically get the same thing. The only thing I really switch up is my choice of wine or dessert. The chateaubriand is my go-to. I don't have anything negative to say about the main course but I've had friends say the food has changed, usually coming out cold. I'm not as picky as them, so take that for what you will.
Finally, the service has become hit or miss. Maybe the customer service is matching the new crowd. Before Covid, the servers were always knowledgeable, personable, and attentive. Since going back, it's been a game of roulette. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. Sometimes a server comes back to check on you frequently, sometimes you're left to wait 45+ minutes for your bill. I've worked in the service industry so I'm more patient than most but I feel like I'm playing the lottery with customer service here now.
Overall, Bern's is still my favorite restaurant in the Tampa Bay area. I'll keep coming back but if the environment and service continue to decline, it might become a yearly visit instead of a quarterly visit.

I had a really great experience here. The dessert room of course was wonderful and so breath taking. I ordered the 8oz sirloin which was very juicy but also pretty small for an 8oz. All entrees do come with a salad, French onion soup, and a baked potato which was very delicious. They have a wide variety of drinks and a very exquisite wine cellar. Great night.
Ricardo Lucca
Great experience. The service is excellent. I tried Delmonico steak, it was very good. I had higher expectations but still very good.
For appetizer we had the Chateaubriand carpaccio and that one was incredibly delicious. Next time we go we will try another cut maybe the delmonico was too fatty for us.
Robert Fishman
Yes. Worth the hype. DEFINITELY! The staff is wonderful. The decor is eclectic and fitting. The wine list is insane. The food was spectacular from start to finish. But the highlight is the steak. We had the chateaubriand and it was the best prepared, most tasty piece of meat we have ever had. We were lucky to get in to the restaurant. The way to do it if you don't have a reservation is to show up NO LATER than 4:30 pm and wait outside for them to open at 5 pm. Then you might get a bar seat (not many) or a lounge seat (not many either). Good luck getting a reservation!!
Jason
Excellent 2 1/2 hour dinner service with a 45 min separate amazing piano room intimate dessert experience. 90 day out reservation was well worth it. Food was amazing and plentiful. Price point was predictably expensive however I do feel the portion sizes are complementary.
The only items my wife and I really seen for improvement were the dining room chairs were not the most comfortable plus the table had a nice wobble as well and the bathroom was very much too small.
Looking forward to going back for another incredible dinner.
Danna Simon
An overall fantastic experience! A Must Do when you‘re in Florida! After having the amazing steaks, we went to the dessert room and had Rio serving us there - he was terrific, so knowlegeable, fun, and forthcoming. Also his colleague, who explained to us that very rich historic armagnac and cognac list was absolutely great- what an experience (we tried Armagnac from 1935)!
Chad R
Not sure why the hype, the food was good, but nothing spectacular. We did have to sit at the bar and maybe that put a negative opinion of the atmosphere, but scheduling 60 days out is next to impossible. We were glad to have gone, but don’t anticipate going back.
Basil DiFrancesco
The amazing experience that is @bernssteakhouse 1. The service was absolutely amazing. Kelly and Amy were both top notch. 2. The atmosphere was an experience in itself. The dining rooms were forest and the desert room was amazing. 3. The food was fantastic down the the veggies. I’ve never had a better steak. 4. I tried scotch that had aged for 3 years in space. Yes in space. I highly highly recommend this one of a kind experience.
Casey Conner
This is one of the all-time great steakhouse experiences. You can have any cut with any topping, and you'll get it your way. The wine list will blow your mind, and you definitely have to visit the dessert room. If you're going to Tampa, run don't walk to have a meal at Bern's!
Lynn M
My husband & I went for our anniversary. The food was flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth delicious but I feel the atmosphere and service left a lot to be desired, especially for the price tag. I was really expecting a quieter, refined experience.
I had never been before but their website states there is a dress code. So I took the time to dress nicely. I was extremely disappointed when we pulled up and two teenagers in the car in front of us got out in cotton tank tops and barely there skirts that JUST covered their bottoms (think Daisy Duke style). We then went inside to see 2 men in jeans and t-shirts and another in shorts being seated. While I appreciate and understand not wanting to turn a customer away, why is a dress code listed if not enforced when blatantly disregarded?
After we were seated it took quite a while to have our drink order taken & get our drinks; then it was another 25 mins to place our food order. Our waiter was nice but just too busy. I didn't get the vibe we were being taken care of at all.
There was also a larger party and a family with a loud child in our dining room and added to the other table conversations, it was a bit overwhelming noise-wise. My husband and I sat across from each other and had to speak loudly to be heard. It was not at all the relaxing time I thought it would be.
Finally, we had also told our waiter it was our first time visiting and I had been told by others we would be taken on a tour of the kitchen on our way to the dessert room. After dinner, our waiter just said "turn left, go all the way down then up the stairs to the dessert room". Umm...sure, thanks.
All in all, it was an ok night but left a lot to be desired from my perspective. I have been to many highly rated restaurants in my life and can truthfully say while we can now check this off our 'list', I am in no hurry to return.
Naty Cace
Always a great dinner. Noticed some changes liike smaller soups. I love their french onion soup , its really the main reason i go. Wish the tours and history lesson would come back.
Amanda Talbert
We only visited the upstairs desert room on 3 Nov 18. I was so amazed to see the amount of privacy each table received. The staff were all so professional and at the ready to serve. While deciding on what to choose I ordered an Irish Coffee, perfect! I ordered the Taste of Bern desert sampler and the cream brûlée. The luxury in those deserts are unparalleled. The presentation of the deserts are so expertly crafted, blew me away. After desert we enjoyed a 3 cheese and olives, with wine. From start to finish, absolute perfection from start to finish
Carrie Smith
Delicious. They grow their own produce and you can taste the difference. The salad was outstanding. The steak was fabulous and the menu was very explanatory. They have a desert room upstairs which was insane. I live in Boston but would fly to Tampa just for dinner and desert at Bern's...yup! It's that good!
Christine Thomas
Absolutely phenomenal experience. Food was fantastic, fresh, expertly prepared. Price was worth it. Very friendly, professional staff.
Whitney V
Bern's Steakhouse has a super cool atmosphere and excellent team of staff. I had the Luxe Tasting and my husband had the Delmonico. They were both delicious and perfectly cooked. They have the best french onion soup either of us have had and the salad was wonderfully fresh. After dinner we headed up to the dessert room and had the Trio of Classics and the s'mores brownie. We were told the restaurant was known for their macadamia nut ice cream, but we thought the graham cracker ice cream was better - particularly with some graham cracker crumbs added and caramel drizzled on top. We thought the King Midas included in the Trio was meh, but that's the only thing we can say that's even remotely negative. We will definitely be returning when we're in the area again.
Cody McCamy
This place is one of the best steakhouses in the world. The attention to detail is immaculate. Between our meal in the dining room and our visit to the Desert Room, it was a magical dining experience.
Jose Carreiras
Bern's is what every steak house should look and feel like. It is a must do if you are in the area and enjoy great food. The ambience is great and each room has its own character. If it is available, I recommend doing the kitchen and wine cellar tours as it will add to the overall experience. I am looking to return in a few weeks for a special occasion and already cannot wait to be back. I am four hours away and I am driving primarily to eat here again. This was my third time visiting and the experience was just as great as my first time. We couldn't do the wine cellar and kitchen tour for obvious reasons, but that did not take away from the experience.
Sandy Hardy
I have been here several times and I cannot speak more highly of the place. From the bar to the tour of the kitchen to the tour of the wine cellar to the dessert room, This is my favorite steakhouse ever and I rank it above Peter Lugar's in Brooklyn and the old Chop House in Chicago. But that's just me because they are so much more than a steakhouse is why they rank above. The 1961 Bordeaux was a wonderful red with a hint of Cedar. Excellent caviar which is now more sustainable versions, Just as tasty as the other. I have no complaints. I always begin my evening when it opens and I leave there around 10:30. I make reservations weeks ahead and it's all I can think about it seems Until the big night.

First time here was on my bucket list to dine! Berns is truly above amazing in all categories WOW! took the family we all ordered a different cut of beef and so incredibly delicious presentation SERVICE atmosphere TOP KNOTCH! Peter Doten
A Tampa institution. I am fortunate enough to have been to some of the best steakhouses in the US and Berns definitely earns their place on that list. Quality is consistent, never had a bad meal.
Lisa Greene
One of a kind dining experience! The food is absolutely delicious: all farm-to-table, prepared to perfection, with special touches to really make it memorable. Several courses are included with your entree (soup, salad, bread, sides). Try the macadamia salad dressing-- you will not regret it! Also, be sure to take the tour of the kitchen and wine cellar. Lots of fun and gives you a chance to digest a little before heading up to the dessert room, which is not to be missed! Order the bananas foster! Cooked tableside and utterly fantastic! Great experience for a special night out. Just call early for your reservation. Weekends book up over a month in advance!
Angel Velasquez
This was more than a perfect place for my wedding anniversary. The service, artistic environment and the high quality cuisine is something that you want to experience.
I'll be back.
David Serle
Probably my favorite restaurant ever. I love experience and certainly Berns provides the little things and everything is done meticulously. The special chateaubriand is just unbelievable. If you get a chance to order it I highly suggest it. They don’t always have it.
Jim Lang
MUCH BETTER THIS YEAR.
I went with the Châteaubriand and it was a much better steak. In fact, I did the Surf & Turf Special - it did not disappoint. I ordered the mushrooms, which were unique in a steak gravy.
We went on the kitchen/wine cellar tour and up to the desert room for the highly recommended "Taste of Bern's."
Got out spending only $300 for two.
merkcity911
I NEVER leave reviews, good or bad, but I felt I had to give Berns a five star rating tonight. We had a large party which is usually trouble, but Trisha and Tracey (hopefully didn’t spell their names wrong!) did such an excellent job. Not one thing to complain about. The food and service was exemplary. The sommelier (didn’t catch her name) recommended a great wine that we all enjoyed. When we went up to the dessert room, Emily was great as well. All around excellent experience and I cannot wait to go back. I see why Berns is the best steakhouse in Tampa. Thank you so much!
Norman Hunt
One of the finest meals I’ve ever had. The chateaubriand was perfection, and the service was outstanding. There is an overwhelming wine list, so if you can’t find what you want, just ask your well-informed dinner guide. Everything we had was outstanding quality and well prepared. They book well in advance, so book early. I observed people dressed casually, so if you didn’t bring a coat, you likely won’t be alone.
Collin Sherwin
I've been fortunate enough to eat at many of the renown meat places across the planet, and for me this is the best steakhouse in the world. There is no substitute, it's an experience unlike any other, and proof that the classic way to do things is often
the best way. The Bern's Way, if you will.
Allow the staff to guide you through your meal, engage with the sommeliers (their knowledge remains unparalleled anywhere), and just enjoy the experience. If you've been before order what you'd like, but please get the Chateaubriand if this is your first time. It's simply incomparable, and has been prepared the same way for generations. Bern's is a time capsule and a treasure. Relax, appreciate, and enjoy.
Baker Hoffman
What an incredible evening.
Big shout to Cole and Ashley in the desert room. And a thank you to both of them and Mr. Bobby our server! Great night, great food!
Jenna Luchkiw
The dinner was delightful. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was exceptional. The Delmonico dinner was the best steak I've ever had.
Robert Bayliss
Missing seasoning on a couple of dishes, dinner service was okay seemed rushed though, Somm was helpful and gave a great recommendation. Dessert room was a great experience with great service, apple pie and bread pudding were pretty good.
dave davenport
Chateau breon Pittsburgh style. Perfectly cooked. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Just like being on a cruise. They were able to accommodate our handicap seating requirements both in the main restaurant and upstairs in the desert room
Julie B
Top notch service. The best steak in Tampa bay area. The atmosphere is incredible and iconic. Reservations are recommended. Highly recommend this for any occasion.
Ken White
Dining at its finest! Superb service, above and beyond menu and a wine list that I feel is second to none. My grandmother(Helen Johnson) worked for Burn Laxor back in the 1970 and 80’s and use to tell me the quality he insisted upon in that day. Nothing has changed. Highly recommended for any who want a special experience or need to commensurate an occasion with class and style. Anything else here just speaks for itself. Wish it was on the beach!

Amazing steakhouse! Everything was perfect from beginning to end. The french onion soup and mushrooms were great. After dinner take the tour of the kitchen and wine cellar. Wine list is very impressive! The dessert room is awesome and the pianist knows every song that’s requested. Outstanding!

Valet parking, seating in elegantly decorated rooms, professional waiters in suits providing the utmost of service, a menu of delicious steak cuts and accompaniments for all possible tastes, and a wine list so long it is leather-bound as a book... Not to mention the guided kitchen and wine cellar tours, decadent desserts served in secluded alcoves with personal music selection, and side rooms dedicated to port and champagne with their own unique decor... If you want a truly savory and unique dining experience in lush and extravagant surroundings, Bern's will not disappoint.

This entire restaurant experience was my personal best. The char on the steak was perfectly done. The staff was great.

Bern's has been a Tampa tradition for many years. A little disappointing their side dishes aren't more appealing. Accompaniments to the entree are fried onion rings and squash medley. Really? Expected better quality and more creativity from a top-rated restaurant. The short ribs appetizer was amazing! The Delmonico steak was ok and not memorable even though it was grilled perfectly. Dessert room is great! The house-made macadamia nut ice cream with hot fudge sauce was fantastic. The Cappuccino Bern's was wonderful and a nice night cap to the evening.
Didn't like the '12% service charge' added to the bill. Even though my waitress was attentive to our table with water refills it seems as though, from years past, service was better. No black napkins and you ran out?? Really? Our dinner reservation was at 7:30 and you had 100 no-shows because of the bowl game in town. 'Fake excuse.' People come to Bern's as a destination and to celebrate special occasions it would have been nice to have made it feel like we were somewhere special.

Delicious! This a fancy restaurant. The steak is tender and the dessert room is to die for! Totally worth it. Valet parking is $5 right at the entrance.

Reserved table prior to the dinner rush. The staff at Bern's Steak House is well trained. We were seated quickly. Wine and food menu was explained to us in detail. They answered our questions in detail and accommodated any additional request we had. We ordered the chateaubriand cut filet mignon for 2. It was cooked to perfection(medium rare). We had scallops which in my opinion melted in my mouth... that good. Following dinner we were given a tour of the wine room and kitchen. Lots of wine to choose from in there. We were also informed that they have a separate area across from the restaurant where wine is also stored... largest collection in the world. Dessert room was our final stop of the night. Cognac and ice cream was wonderful. The seating is private but the seats were a little uncomfortable but I think that depends on where you sit since the chairs appear to vary by table. Overall a great experience. Highly recommend!

Great experience. Wouldn't say the steak is amazing but the French onion soup and desserts are.

I had never been to a place quite like this... Definitely a unique and fun experience! I loved all the meat cut options and the winery tour afterwards was amazing! The staff was very knowledgeable and fun. And you can't forgot to check out the dessert room afterwards 😊 …
