If I could give this place a million stars I would. The owners are so cool, down to earth and just overall great people. We first found this restaurant when we moved to the area a month or so ago and now live 45 minutes away and still make the drive because that's just how great the pizza is. I'm Italian and lived in Italy for a couple years, so my standards for pizza are very high 😂 and it surpasses all my expectations. Great place, great ownership, great food, just overall great.

My hubby and I have become fans of Alfonso's. Following a suggestion made by Richard Gonzmart, we tried the restaurant. We waited for 35 minutes for the restaurant to open. It is intimate, with seating for about 2 dozen. The casual decor creates a comfortable atmosphere and the owners treat you like family. They take pride in every aspect of their business - the menu, the meal presentation, and cleanliness is of utmost importance. The Garlic Knots are the kind you continue to think about and look forward to your next order as soon as possible. They are the size of large softballs, tender, and smothered in garlic butter and parmesan cheese. As an added treat, they are served with delicious sauce. We enjoyed a Greek salad, pizza slices (fantastic sausage and fresh mushrooms), and a sausage, onion, and green pepper Hero Sandwich. Drop by to meet your family in your new home away from home. They enjoy meeting more relatives. The food was worth the wait!!

For some of you who complain that the pizza is greasy, it's because they use GRANDE cheese which is the best and expensive..if you order the pizza with pepperoni, of course it's going to be greasy also....in this case do what the New Yorkers do,take a napkin and dab off the grease and stop complaining...I'm an uber driver and tried almost every pizza store in the tampa bay area and Alfonso's by far is #1 on my list....

This is a nice pizza place. I like the nice crust, good sauce and fresh mushrooms. My friend likes ham on pizza here. They made the fresh pizza for a nice dinner and gave us boxes for leftovers.

Gave 3 stars to not kill their rating, but honestly felt it was 2 stars. I'm sure the owners are great people, but the pizza was super greasy, crust was just okay. The garlic bread was cheese on what looks like sandwich buns? also greasy though. Overall taste of the pizza was 70% greasy with some flavor. Makes me want to open a pizza shop. At least we gave it a shot.

I promise I won't be bias due to their name! This pizzeria really is true to it's soul. Authentic slices, reasonably priced and the Spicy Buffalo wings had that crispyness we all love. The sauce was amazing. Me and my woman greatly appreciated the service and Thank Marco for his suggestions! Definitely going to make this a regular spot.

Visited the McDonald's in the little plaza on the corner of Bearss and Florida ave and then I looked across the parking lot and BOOM, Alfonso's. I have never failed to stop and enjoy what it is (to me) possibly the best pizza in town. The cheese, sauce and crust mix in beautifully and riched in flavor bite after bite. Always greeted by a friendly staff with a smile and the ambition to always give an excellent service. Alfonso's Pizza is perfect for casual dates or for the family to enjoy. We need to patronize places like this - good prices, tremendous food and great service... also, they have beer! 10/10 would recommend!!!

Pizza is pretty good, but the Greek salad with potato salad is wonderful. They now take credit cards, and I have had perfect orders for years. To add to my previous review, this place keeps getting better and better. The onion rings are excellent. The décor is quite serene. Staff is friendly and you can tell they want the customer to have a good experience. I only wish they had longer hours, but that's me being selfish and wishing I could come here any time of day or night.

This place was awesome! Staff was so friendly they all had smiles on! Prices were reasonable! Place was very clean especially the bathroom. We ordered mac n cheese bites as an app! They were so delicious very cheesy and crisp on outside. We ordered the meat pizza! Perfectly done crust was crisp little flop but nothing bad! Best pizza ever! Will come back!

We were in from out of town and stopped here based on locals recommendations. Their dough recipe is so good. Sorry for no pics we ate too quick haha. Garlic knots are so good and the pizza crust is crispy. Definitely coming back.

Our office did a co-worker Pizza Lunch and we ordered from Alfonso's at Bearss & Florida. We had a timed pick-up and it couldn't have been more perfect. The service was excellent and the people were very friendly. Of course this is a food review soooo, let's get to it right? Our order was 4 Lg pies of 4 different varieties, and they got them all just right. The food was absolutely terrific and everyone was completely happy and satisficed. The whole office has unanimously agreed that Pizza Friday is now Alfonso Friday.... Well Done Alfonso's, Well Done.

The food here is always good. A mask is required. Dining in is available or you can order to go. The wings, ham and cheese sandwich, garlic knots and fries are delicious. The pizzas look yummy even though I have never tried one. The staff is very friendly.

I have to admit, this place has always held a special place in my heart since it was always one of the only "real" pizzerias in Tampa when we moved here in 1979. As a kid, I remember I wasn't exactly in love with their pizza since the crust was always too hard. 42 years later and this have really changed for the better! I had a great meal. Of course, I ordered pizza and WOW!! It has really changed! The crust is crunchy but delicious and the whole pizza is very tasty! Baked ziti was delicious as well with a hearty, savory sauce! Molto Grazie!

Besides having the best pizza in town, I've loved everything I've ever ordered from here. They make huge and oh so yummy calzones. It's my daughter's favorite place to get a salad. Their chicken wings are crisp and delicious. I've been coming here for so long, the sons are running it now, and everyone there is so nice and friendly. They always make me smile when I go in. I wish they delivered though. But that doesn't stop me from getting anything Italian from there.

This pizza is the taste that your mind reminds you of when you start craving pizza. Handmade dough, pizza from scratch, family owned. I can't tell if they care more about their product or their customer because both the service and the food is top notch. You can carry out or dine in here. They offer more than pizza but I haven't had opportunity to work my way that far through the menu yet. Highly recommend this place for a stop if you don't just want pizza, but specifically want *good* pizza! Also, for those that use crust as determining factor to eat at a shop or not - this crust is awesome!

Alfonso’s is the best pizza i’ve had since moving back to Tampa from New York, hands down. Family atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. My dad used to take my brother and I there every Tuesday over 30 years ago so I have some very fond memories of this pizzeria. We have been going to this place for over 10 years ; this is our favorite pizza place. Our favorite is the white spinach & regular cheese pizzas. The cannoli is also great and the staff is always friendly. ***Update 2/8/19- Still great! Still our favorite pizza place! The garlic knots are amazing!

We started with a traditional Greek salad (yes- with potato salad- the only way it should be served!) and buttery garlic knots served with homemade marinara sauce! They were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside and there was no shortage of garlic butter in the tray- amazingness! Next course was the house made cheesy meaty lasagna - seriously watch the video for cheese heaven! Completing the savory line up was Alfonso’s famous pizza- ours was loaded with sausage, ham, bacon and pepperoni! It was fully loaded- not one piece of that pizza wasn’t blanketed with meat! And the crust had a great crisp- it was perfect! Last up- a double brownie sandwich and the VERY POPULAR double decker chocolate chip cookie - both sandwiched with their cannoli cream! And these were show stoppers for sure!

5/2022 Update: what's that spice? XL Cheese was very tasty with a nice blend of cheeses. 2020 Original Review: Bomb diggity. Excellent food reasonable price no need for extra cheese. Meatball sub done right, Italian sausage appetizer w/ side of garlic bread - very filling and THE SAUCE!!! I'll be trying the PIZZA SOON and everything else too.

Excellent dine in or take out. What crust! Large pizzas with succulent toppings. Pick up a slice with two hands, they are big!! Order early for take out on Friday and Saturday nights. They are that good. Only so much room in the oven. The perfect pizza.

The renovations were a good step, the inside is up to date. The pizza is excellent - their New York style has that crisp yet chewy quality I want more of. But the toppings are merely okay, mostly from a can. The service is limited. And it's better for takeout than eating there.

Was and still is some of the best pizza I've ever had, place wasn't too crowded and the server was friendly and made small conversation with the adults and made sure the kids didn't touch the pizza so as to not burn themselves, his care and devotion was wonderful and the chef still continues to be one of the best I've seen, would absolutely recommend for anyone wanting some real pizza.

First time there and ordered pasta dish with sausage to go. Upon opening at home imagine my disbelief when I found only 1 piece of sausage in the pan of pasta. And to make things worse no napkins or utensils. What is up?? I will say person taking orders was very pleasant and food flavor was good.

Google's menu pricing does not match what you will be charged! Restaurant says they have no control of Google's stated menu, rubbish.... Bate and overcharge. Regular pizzas are great, specialty pizzas good but are made of gold considering the price.

I loved my experience there. I came in around 6pm today. I was expecting their to be a huge line or have to wait a long time for my food or both seeing how it was dinner rush time. The pretty lady who took our order was very pleasant. The scenery was very docile and modern. It only took about 5 mins for them to bring me my fresh food. It smelled so good but was too hot for me to eat at first. It was killing me. :) Once I finally took a bite, I wasnt disappointed. Their portion size is generous and the flavor is out of this world. Good job you guys and I will definantly come back.

the old owner sounds done a great job at making this place look great and making it through the struggle that they're going through it's really hard to keep a business going now the pieces the same as it was in the calzones as it was 25 years ago with his father as owner I got to give five stars for his parents Alfonso and Orrazio for keeping this business for their family all these years it's great to talk to them I wish they could be here forever like my father but we lose the best people it seems I just got to give the new owner five stars for being a great guy

Im a long time customer i think the first time that i went to Alfonso's i was six or seven. I keep going back i am super picky and i dont like much but the food they make is the best. There baked ziti is the only baked ziti i will eat and anything they make hits the top of my great food chart. I keep track of any good restaurants i find individually if its a chain i know what restaurants in that chain are better than the rest. the name may be Alfonso's Pizzeria but they have a lot more to pick from than just pizza. Alfonso's Pizzeria is one of two restaurants i can all ways go to and never get tired of the food.
